LD45 — Start with nothing

Fragmented Reality by Syrapt0r 2019-10-07T22:22:13Z

Great game! Controls fluidly. Looks nice (albeit a bit noisy). Mechanics are simple yet interesting. Overall love it!

Spoilers ahead:

The "world is collapsing" level felt fake. I could stand in one spot and die repeatedly without the world collapsing.

Church Demo by King Kujito 2019-10-07T19:08:42Z

Great assets & visual style!

Hungry Hungry Spiders by bendmorris 2019-10-07T21:10:16Z

I didn't get a chance to play against other spiders so my game only consisted of walking around and gathering blood which wasn't very interesting :(. Maybe something could be done to make the solo play interesting?

No Bullet Hell by gswong 2019-10-07T05:17:24Z

Concept is interesting. I eventually figured out that you can just spam click to absorb & shoot. The player movement felt sluggish.

Amor Fati by starvingindie 2019-10-07T21:01:52Z

Very short but also very nice! I liked how the particles & subtle animation and sfx came together and made the game satisfying to interact with!

The ability to spam click felt a bit unintentional however.

No.thing by adliberum 2019-10-07T22:38:39Z

Neat. I think it's very easy for people to skim over the text in games like these and just go straight for the links. Maybe incrementally showing the paragraphs/sentences/words would help?

Meaningless Blob Slaughter by evgenimp 2019-10-07T21:52:47Z

I've no clue what the game is :( .

void by mitsu.artemius 2019-10-08T01:12:36Z

Feels like an oldscool demoscene demo and I like it because of that. Atmosphere is good. Sound is a bit lacking.

Aloneland by Kubeec 2019-10-07T22:32:48Z

While the game was about discovery, I wasn't really feeling like I was actually discovering stuff. I was more of "will this work, oh how about if it do it the other way around".

Millions of Minions by Mattabulous 2019-10-07T22:57:01Z

Neat game. Art and music are nice. The death mechanic felt abrupt and also unclear (when do I even die?)

The Void by Bozarre 2019-10-07T19:18:05Z

Loved the colors & art!

Into the Stars by Vanea 2019-10-07T21:27:37Z

Interesting. I liked the animation & audio. The discovery aspect of the first phase didn't quite work on me, had to read 4quet's comment to figure out how it all worked. The start phase seemed a bit awkward as I couldn't see what I was doing most of the time.

Just A Minute by Skalex 2019-10-07T17:46:06Z

Pretty neat! Reminded me of Minit and Outer Wilds. The one thing I got annoyed at is that I couldn't figure out if there was a way to speed up & skip text I've already read.

HONK by Tricky_Fat_Cat 2019-10-07T20:38:50Z

Nothing wrong with ignoring the theme !

Anyway I thought the game was fun! Well juiced & action packed. Played two rounds and got a high score of 4000.

I would have liked to see my high score after dying. The explosion radius of the barrels and fast tiny guys was very unclear. I also would have liked to have some sort of move obvious indicator for when my guy took damage.

But overall, pretty great!

Color Swirl by sansman01 2019-10-06T19:07:57Z

The game idea is nice and I liked to explore and see how the game mechanics work. I eventually grew really frusturated of the experimentation simply by how long it takes to travel to the first lazer after death.

Become Human Again by Cybikitty 2019-10-07T20:30:45Z

The game overall is nice. I felt that the platforming challenge itself was fine and that the variable jump height gave it some depth.

The major gripe was the jump control response. Sometimes, immediatelly after landing, he guy just wasn't jumping even if it looked like he could :(

Click-N-Move by TwinTurboDouche 2019-10-07T19:25:22Z

Decent entry. I thought the controls were perfectly fine.

Escape Room by superunknown 2019-10-07T19:22:02Z

Congratulations on the submission! The game is nice. I only realized that the lights create a solid block halfway in.

The Big Bang by EpisodeIvy 2019-10-07T03:31:28Z

That was interesting! I like the idea of the whole game being just text in the way it's in the game.

Wordplay by FoolishFire 2019-10-07T20:19:46Z

I liked it at the beginning but the more I played the more it became a "figure out what the designer is thinking" type of game as I was creating various words but the game only seemed to respond to a very select minority of them which made me sad :(. Other than that, the visuals and audio was nice!

Soul Corrupter by supercannon 2019-10-07T01:57:32Z

Swinging around was pretty fun! I avoided trying to dodge bullets as that was really just a hassle and not fun at all, same for dodging.

The Darkness by Iconocatstudio 2019-10-07T05:12:46Z

gg. I like the polish! The enemies didn't feel hostile at all.

Pug Dealer : An Underdog Tail by robopossum 2019-10-07T20:56:59Z

Nice game! The intro hooked me. I wish there was a more obvious indicator for when the foes damaged you (It's kind of weird that something like that is even in this game now that I'm writing it all out but it's fine). The ending felt a bit abrupt.

LD46 — Keep it alive

Efi by ludipe 2020-04-20T14:05:13Z

Overall superb! Loved the music. The controls were on point (albeit I cannot verbalize at any point in time which button will make the bird go in which direction which I think is interesting). I do wonder how the game would play if you could use the mouse to control the guy!

Keep It Alive by danman9914 2020-04-24T17:05:00Z

The functional gameplay and the design of what you actually do in the game is rather simple yet the execution and production of it all are top-notch such that it all comes together to create a proper interesting experience about something.

While I'm not a big fan of high quality production, I can't deny that this game is good.

Tumble Baby by 01010111 2020-04-20T14:46:59Z

The baby got stuck in a wall during one of the later levels :(.

The progression is solid! It kept me on my toes and was interesting.

Overall pretty nice :)

jumpgolf by torcado 2020-04-20T15:04:12Z

Big Bennett Foddy vibe from this one.

The golfing felt satisfying, however it wasn't exactly interesting. Sure there was variation in the walls and the level design, but fundamentally doing the golfing wasn't intriguing in any way :(.

Neat game other than that!

ADRENA-LINE by managore 2020-04-20T14:19:54Z

Solid as always! My high score was 28. I was a bit disappointed to not see any iteration of the core. Nonetheless, this is neat variation on the core sliding-puzzely-thing!

Spooble: A Search Engine Story by allthebees 2020-04-20T20:46:07Z

Unsure if I got the intended idea, but it reminded me of how dependant on search engines we are nowadays. That and how much information we divulge to them about our lives.

Great game!

My only gripe would be the interaction method. Typing random letters in wasn't very fun or interesting :(

Genomix by Herman Chau 2020-04-21T18:49:12Z

Overall a pretty solid game! It's undoubtedly one of my favorites after playing 50 or so games :). I was happy to find that I could actually learn something about time travel, and, broadly, biology, from the game. I'd like to see more of games in this vein from future game jams.

My only gripe would be that it seems that you'd have to try hard to mess up and fail to extend their extinction. I imagined that after researching virus immunity, my DNA modifying virus would face some sort of resistance. Or how, after say researching digestion or thick skin, I would run into issues researching other topics due to the fact that certain animals or resources have become extinct instead (though the ending delivers this insight rather clearly).

The Ludum Dare Flame 🔥 by tobiasw 2020-04-20T16:48:14Z

Pretty neat! I love the simple aesthetic. Haven't seen an online game in a jam before so this is pretty interesting!

Soul Survivor by fakefrogsonly 2020-04-20T01:11:22Z

Neat! The pixel look is on-point.

I couldn't find any stones to gather however :(.

VillageQuake by Kontroman 2020-04-19T19:39:33Z

Hard to figure out which buildings I need to click on.

Morituri Combonaturi by TheOZoneBE 2020-04-20T02:13:38Z

The aesthetic is on point! I did end up sort of finding a spot that generated a solid combo and kept clicking my mouse without moving it.

Tiny Fragments by Daniel Moreno 2020-04-20T14:59:42Z

Beat it!

Pretty neat thinky puzzler :)

I wonder what sort of puzzles would be possible if, say, the clicked buttons would become unclicked once you walk over them. Also shame to see that there weren't any situations wherein I had to figure out WHEN I had to get a key instead of it being the first thing I always got.

Other than that, I enjoyed the game! Good work!

up in the sky by stuffed wombat 2020-04-19T20:59:40Z

Solid. Had fun.

Was happy to see that there were some physics puzzles in the middle :)

I wish I could have fullscreened it as I found my cursor going outside the bounds quite frequently :(.

Just Fishing by DrunkardWolf 2020-04-20T13:15:00Z

I ended up playing the peaceful mode, it was rather relaxing!

The sound queues are on point and let me know what's happening pretty well. The gameplay was pretty relaxing as well. However the fishing rod felt a bit awkward and stiff to control at times :(.

The white stuff in the ocean felt a bit weird. It seemed to obstruct my view of where the fish were for no interesting reason thus it felt a bit out of a place.

Other than that, pretty neat!

Battery Panic by HacksawUnit 2020-04-20T20:54:18Z

Got up to level 18 without rotating. I didn't realize you could rotate up until reading the controls section after playing the game! Best to communicate the controls in the game :).

Other than that, pretty solid art, music. The gameplay wasn't particularly captivating but it did get a bit interesting as everything sped up. At that point I had to develop a new strategy for dealing with the speed!

Ludum Dare 46 Entry: Tree Sim by Alex Mulkerrin 2020-04-19T20:51:07Z

Solid visuals and tree growth!

Wasn't quite sure how the various paramaters affected growth patterns.

Here's one I thought was pretty: photo

Embers by Anuke 2020-04-20T15:14:28Z

Super polished!

I did end up simply exploring and seeing what I can find. Feeding the fire just wasn't fun at all. The concept of having only one item that you can hold and use while exploring a world was neat and I think there's something to it!

Hacking is Probably Not Like This by sayumeki 2020-04-20T12:43:38Z

Solid overall polish and mood!

I wasn't quite a fan of the puzzles per-se as they didn't quite seem like puzzles :(.

Social Distancing Simulator by Ruoyu 2020-04-21T18:35:59Z

Pretty neat interactable!

My only gripe was with the UI. I'm on a 1080p display and it was a bit awkward to know that there are various houses I should be looking at to get a feeling of how the spread works, but couldn't intuitively due that due to the fact that most of them were offscreen? I wonder how the UI would feel when all the information is presented to you at once. I think that at first the amount of information may be a bit much but you'd (at least me) quickly realize that the dynamics aren't that complicated.

Another problem was the cyan footer menu thingy. It too was contributing to the awkward UI experience I had.

Other than that, the visuals and the game are solid :).

Fire by barret907k 2020-04-20T03:27:08Z

Pretty straight forward and simple! Could have used some SFX.

Lich Clicker by Fictions 2020-04-20T12:42:56Z

Pretty neat! The art and sound and voice acting are on point.

I did end up accidentally clicking through the story prompts without reading them as I didn't expect them while clicking on the souls :(

Sci-Fi Lumber by munkkeli 2020-04-20T16:31:36Z

Capture.PNG

Pretty neat. I like the duality between resource gathering and defense that emerges.

I did end up being unable sustain circle production so I got overwhelmed :(.

🍄 Saki 🍄 by Darkfire92 2020-04-20T13:07:03Z

The art is pretty interesting, I liked it! Pretty good atmosphere coming from the mixture of background audio and visuals. The SFX felt a bit out of place however.

I was a bit frusturated that I couldn't move around screens with the arrow keys. It felt counterintuitive to not be able to pick up logs while there were mushrooms around :(.

it (alone) by Rature 2020-04-20T03:03:54Z

Pretty neat! The level design is on point!

A few times through it all I wish I could have fast-forwarded time as I knew that the guy would have reached the goal.

DITAZURE by BJakubowski 2020-04-20T01:08:36Z

Creepy atmosphere! There seem to be some bugs with the high-score persisting after deaths however so I cannot share mine :(.

Zero by omercanbalandi 2020-04-20T13:01:58Z

Really solid art and animations!

My major gripes would have to do with the game and level design:

I wasn't quite sure why the people were attacking me. I also felt a bit odd to visit houses and see nothing interesting or worthwhil in almost all of them. Am I missing something?

I also didn't seem to have time to react to the bullets in hopes of moving out of their way :(.

Other than that, some sound effects would have been nice to hear :).

Coronary Flypass by squirmonkey 2020-04-20T12:45:28Z

*Niiiceeeee*

Solid stuff overall! I feel that the art was a bit lacking but can't put my finger on what it was exactly.

Controlling the drone was challenging and nicely designed!

Earth Defense by aero 2020-04-20T03:07:51Z

Solid art!

Where can I buy some of these jets and buildings for cheap :eyes:

I ended up buying a bunch of jets from the get-go and later on spamming buildings.

In A Game Wherein by SSStormy 2020-04-19T21:17:38Z

@vivienw @wzqxrys @kierancoppins @beeguy @fakefrogsonly @alex-mulkerrin @romaric @dan-one23 @soupornoghosh @ignaloidas Thank you, Ya'll are very kind :).

@mantaraytv-games Agreed on the button part.

@cannedveg I am assuming you mean having the arrows be in the same position vertically, yep?

In A Game Wherein by SSStormy 2020-04-20T01:03:18Z

@maxflav :)

Thank you for playing!

In A Game Wherein by SSStormy 2020-04-20T02:45:14Z

@seagull I am happy to hear a honest comment.

In A Game Wherein by SSStormy 2020-04-20T22:04:10Z

@katrin As you read the comment you aren't quite sure what the words are trying to convey. You do feel thankful for the kind words but you wish to express confusion as well.

@ruoyu The words seem to suggest that music should have been a part of the experience. A feeling of an opportunity lost, a tiny one albeit, bubbles up. However, you do not want to submit to the thought that your work is not perfect thus the words you retort with express intention within the lack of audial stimuli.

@munkkeli At that moment, the concept of duality comes forward in your consciousness.

The words evoke a connection, to whom you are not sure, but at that moment you feel that a certain part of the labour that was put in has harbored fruit. You keep it to yourself and express thankfulness with your words.

@inka-mcatee Their text talks, telling that their time ticked terrifically.

@tobiasw You are reminded of that connection feeling you had two comments ago. Not quite deja-vu, as both differ in the "about" that the connection speaks of, but nonetheless as genuine.

With the reading of the second paragraph, a tree of thoughts, with the word 'quantization' at the root node, comes to mind. You're not sure how to communicate an internal structure of your mind, but you believe that expressing the aesthetic of its tree nature may be worth more than the concepts it represents.

@ioan-pop @cagibi A recollection of doubt and uncertainty from the past is not something you'd like to deal with right now. However the second parts of these words provides you with the means to defend yourself. You express thankfulness in the validation.

@gimblll A mimicking of dialect. That very same connection as felt before. You are glad. You wish to return the gesture by employing the same dialect as a retort but are unsure what to say exactly. The infinite loop catches your eye and you realize an opportunity to communicate the technical limitations of how the looping works by reastheticize the knowledge with the tooling of the dialect.

@frances You are a bit surprized by the mention of looping yet your words ignore it and are instead imbued with a thankful nature.

@jonahsenzel A taste of disbelief mixed with a tinge of glee presents itself. You repeat recontextualize, reword and variate the thankfulness you left on the previous comment.

@corruptor2037 You consider both shilling and/or posting (you're not sure which is the right word for this) your twitter. You do feel a bit guilty about it so you attempt to mention how you try to not waste your words on the platform. A thought enters your mind and you think better of posting these words. You clear out the letter buffer and repeat the aformentioned thankfulness dance.

@themadprogramer An unknown feeling enters upon seeing what you can only call a 'guide'. You are unsure of what to say thus you resort to calling the thankfulness procedure.

It Lives by Sbug 2020-04-20T22:20:13Z

Overall well made! Atmosphere is creepy and not lacking and neither is the art! The sounds side felt a bit lonely but what was there was good!

The gameplay had a nice twist to it to keep things interesting. It was interest losing the monster and then having to frantically scurry to find where it is.

I liked it!

The Beat Keeper by SplendidDog 2020-04-20T15:26:33Z

Didn't quite see a point in simply not just spamming left and right over and over again :(.

The art is neat however!

Primed by gimblll 2020-04-20T22:41:17Z

Nice overall package. I liked the twist in the message :) Got both endings!

The feel of the game is pretty solid! The knockback from the shooting the gun felt a bit too much however. Not a lot of shooting was involved so I guess it's okay?

Hearty Dose by Fupi 2020-04-19T19:50:59Z

Pretty well done across the board! My High-score is 50.

I ran across some unfair situations in which I was essentially guaranteed to hit the wrong bubble with the mirror when trying to hit the correct one.

Remember, Apollo by AdamCYounis 2020-04-21T18:18:59Z

The visuals are superb quality!

The audio background ambiance is nice and fits the visuals nicely.

One audiovisual gripe for me is that there is no reaffirmation that you actually hit a note. You just sort of stop and that's it. Nothing else. Feels stiff.

The gameplay is utterly uninteresting. It seemed to take priority over the on-screen text for me, making me completely ignore the text all togehter and instead trying to find a fun way of interacting with the game. Speaking of, I couldn't find one except for trying to cheese the level transitions by hitting a node in another level without hitting any nodes in the current level. That was the only somewhat interesting thing to me.

So while the presentation is great and one of the best I've seen in the whole jam, the interactivity/gameplay is uninspiring and uninteresting.

LD46 - Keep it alive by ZwodahS 2020-04-20T01:57:13Z

I seem to have misunderstood something and died from an oxygen overdose. Neat game nonetheless!

Keep cats alive! by Odeyalko 2020-04-20T01:27:25Z

I played it on the HTML5 version.

Great sounds, albeit the instrument seemed to be a too washed out by the sounds of the ocean which is a bit of a shame. I think the volume of the string instrument could be higher as it's got a nice melody.

I wasn't actually able to gather any cats! The interface just repeatedly opened and close :(

Not Clowning Around! by Wilson Taylor 2020-04-20T01:51:02Z

Solid art and a wonky sound track. Pretty neat.

I felt like I was fighting the cannon to get it to shoot where I wanted it to at the velocity I wanted it to. It didn't feel right. I got a hit nonetheless!

Myrion Station by JamesVaughan 2020-04-19T19:59:01Z

I didn't see the point of the mazes and eventually ended up running out of oxygen :(. There seemed to be something to the game but I couldn't find out what it was :(

Satisfy'n: Keep the Love Alive by BlackOpsBen 2020-04-20T12:57:36Z

Pretty nice progression!

I think I got both the secrets :).

The one thing that stood out for me as being a bit sore was the music. It was funky, but didn't feel coherent or interesting.

Confluence by Dandala88 2020-04-20T03:23:30Z

Creepy, atmosphere!

I ended up not defending the CPU and instead trying to find the battery things around the world.

The sound for when your ship hits a wall doesn't seem to communicate that doing so makes you take damage :(

50 Shades of Pray by robstao 2020-04-20T12:44:31Z

Cute art and pretty silly.

I didn't quite understand if there was an end to it so I quit out early :(

Flower Defense by Evolving 2020-04-20T12:46:16Z

Art, animations and mood are on point!

The gameplay felt lacking however, the sword fighting got repetitive and uninteresting rather quickly :(.

Lighthouse Keeper and the Shadow Pirates by cagibi 2020-04-20T01:19:19Z

Super polished game, love it. Both the art and the sound are on point.

When it comes to gameplay, I felt that the progression was either slow or lacking. Felt a bit weird to get to the treasure drops only a while in. What if they came sooner?

I found myself using the lighthouse to proper my shots A LOT, even it I didn't have to do so. It felt fun and more interesting than just using the basic attack. Oh and is this mechanic a reference to The Three-Body Problem  ?

At the end I think I used the lighthouse too much such that it broke down by itself. I got a high score of 10k.

Overall pretty damn good for compo!

Let's stick together by syo 2020-04-20T02:55:43Z

The gameplay looks rather interesting. The only problem I have with the game is that the level design seems to just take off and completely forget that I may not quite understand all the nuances of the game mechanics!

Other than that. The art and sounds are solid.

I don't see why you wish to not be rated on the art & sound ;)

Sheep it alive! by SheetCode 2020-04-19T19:33:46Z

Got to 55. It's well done!

Angry Aphid by scifi6546 2020-04-20T01:37:25Z

Very simple and sturdy! Was a bit unsure if there was an ending so had to quit out awhile after the stem reached the top of the screen.

Ribbiton by Bearwey 2020-04-20T16:26:24Z

Art and audio are alright!

I had some issues with the gameplay however. It was incredibly stiff to see that the enemies died a second or two after you actually killed them. I'm also unsure if it's even possible to dodge them. I ended up holding down sprint and navigating the mazes instead of going through combat.

Dog Feeder by plantleaf 2020-04-19T20:03:20Z

Neat. I was going to say that there should have been a button for restarting but then I read the description. It's probably best to describe the controls within the game...

Hungry Flames by ViniFlores 2020-04-20T12:48:02Z

(I played the web version)

Neat idea!

The progression kept things somewhat interesting, but I did think that it was a tad too slow for me.

I felt as if the art was inconsistent which felt a bit uncomfortable to look at :(

This Website Will Self-destruct (dot) com by FemmeAndroid 2020-04-19T20:34:39Z

Super cute, I love it.

Kill the undead - keep her alive (for as long as you can) by Gaspar Laprida 2020-04-19T20:20:16Z

The lighting and visuals are relatively nice.

The camera, shooting and movement felt like they were fighting against me the entire time.

First Love / Late Spring by Lateralis 2020-04-24T16:51:48Z

The art is nice.

The game crashed when I had swiped everybody and clicked the X button.

I think I get the message of the game. I would have liked to play more but the game kept closing after each message chain and I really did not enjoy sitting through 30 seconds of an intro screen that had seemingly nothing to do with the game.

The audio was trying to be good but it was really hard to listen to it with the filter put on it.

Idea is nice but the overall execution and how everything is put together seems to be very stiff unfortunately :(.

dry dry by Nathan123 2020-04-19T22:15:18Z

Neat and simple. I like the look.

The audio for the lightning was a bit disorienting. Stopped at 100 as there seemed to be no progression past that :(

The Game of our Lives by Owl_Skip 2020-04-19T21:53:14Z

This is exactly what I needed right now.

The sentiment that the game shares is something I mesh with a lot and has influenced my decisions during this jam.

I am glad you made this.

Thank you & stay safe <3

Keep Your Rage Alive! by cateye 2020-04-20T01:47:20Z

The iteration of ideas in the levels was pretty nice.

I ended up crashing due to an `index out of bounds` during the level where you scroll :(

Necroban by Auroriax 2020-04-24T16:39:23Z

Pretty fun puzzler :). I'm not a fan of the amount of skeletons you have to deal with in the later levels (which is why I skipped 11 and 9), but all the other levels were fun to solve!

I had a minor issue at the beginning visually understanding what I was supposed to do to enter into a puzzle.
