I'm unsure as to what exactly I'm doing in the game. :/

splendiddog 2020-04-20 05:09

@supergamersgames Ah! That may have been something I needed to work on then. Originally I wanted to have a bit of text at the beginning that would explain things, although I didn't really have enough time to add that. I do agree that I should have added more things though that would guide the player into doing the main task! Or, what exactly they are doing-

chambre19 2020-04-20 05:12

You have done a great job with this. I really enjoyed the way the music and the hits could sync. I think there is alot more that could be done with that idea, you should look into that! maybe even some combos and such.

All in all, i liked it. you did great for your 3rd game!

nodice 2020-04-20 05:14

Nice entry! I think the art is great, good details and colours.

I like the speaker feedback you have when hitting although the game may have benefited from some form of visual feedback when the enemy gets hit, as I originally tried to time the hits to the song and was not doing enough damage to kill the enemy.

Gameplay wise it does become abit spammy as that is the best way to clear out the enemies. Maybe if there were more variation in the enemies/patterns this would be less effective.

splendiddog 2020-04-20 05:16

@chambre19 Thank you! I really enjoyed making it and learning the engine! I do think I'll return to this idea once I get a better idea of coding. I think I could've done better with the background music too =) Thank you so much for the kind words and the feedback though!

ofirma85 2020-04-20 05:19

The game looks absolutely amazing, and I really like how you can just have fun playing the drums to the beat. However, the gameplay was a bit confusing, I was trying to hit enemies that were mostly outside of my screen. I think that this game could be really great with a few more features like a combo bonus if you keep the hits on beat.

splendiddog 2020-04-20 05:20

@nodice Thank you so much! I really enjoyed making the art for this xD

The speakers were the first thing I had worked on and coded, since it was the main part of the idea to me, and I do like how they turned out! Although I 100% agree that I needed more visual feedback for the enemies. I'll likely make a more refined version of this game in the future, and in it, I'll try to make the enemies less spammy, and more predictable with the music. Thanks for the feedback!

splendiddog 2020-04-20 05:25

@ofirma85 Wow! Thanks for that! I really enjoyed how the visuals turned out! Playing the drums was one of the things I enjoyed doing xP

Although I do agree that the gameplay could get confusing, and that the enemies can sometimes be finicky. I'll take the suggestions of combo bonuses and such for when I (Hopefully) create a more refined version of this game! Thanks for your feedback and really nice words! It means a lot! =D

willops 2020-04-20 05:28

Cool game! the gameplay was a little confusing but I eventually figured it out, the game looks really nice, you're getting points in that area. I think adding a little depth to your mechanics in the form of powerups or enemy types would help, but it's understandable considering the time constraint.

Also...

@splendiddog I had the exact same idea for interpreting the theme, you should check my game out!

ubershmekel 2020-04-20 05:36

The art is spectacular. On the gameplay side - it seems I just need to repeat left then right as fast as I can for as long as I can. Did I understand correctly? There isn't any rhythm to it, just send as many attacks as I can?

splendiddog 2020-04-20 05:37

@willops Thank you! I wish that I had a little bit more time (And more coding knowledge) to make the enemies move and get damaged to the beat ;w; Although it's something I hope to improve in a future remake type thing of this project!

I checked out your game and it's stunning! I definitely think you're take on the idea was superior and many ways, as it feels like a really smooth and cool rhythm game!

splendiddog 2020-04-20 05:40

@ubershmekel Thank you for the nice words! I tried really hard on the visual side of things! I do think I should have taken more time to improve the enemy logic. It isn't in a completely uniform pattern as, there is a bit of randomness when they get created (Speed, and health mostly) although I think that I should have tried to line their health and speed up with the music- so yes, you are correct on you're assumption! Because the enemies keep spawning at an exponential speed I had concerns that it would eventually just become spamming and it seems that, that is the case! Thank you for your feedback!

joaquim-2009 2020-04-20 05:40

The person move to fast but i love the idea. And

ironygames 2020-04-20 06:29

Great art and sound, good job. The concept is pretty funny, and would like to see this guy at an actual concert.

As feedback there's something counterintuitive to me to have to do 2 inputs to smack a beat (move away, move in). maybe you could separate movement and smack?

A highscore would also be great to give the feeling of progress.

But overall, really cool!

tent-hat 2020-04-20 06:46

I really dug the music and the theming, but the major critique I had was the moving camera. Really fun concept! Also some incentives for hitting on beat would really elevate the design!

maindric 2020-04-20 06:46

Aesthetically, the game really flows well. The concept makes sense as a whole, though I wish there was a "metronome" type mechanic enforcing the player to stick to a beat to keep alive. Also, the controls were iffy. I could hold right and just tap left to get a machine gun effect on the right side, though the left was more clunky.

Overall, the game was pretty good. I enjoyed the graphics, and the audio was clean. Good job!

retti01 2020-04-20 06:53

Music and art were great. It fun and cool.

codingninjajoas 2020-04-20 07:22

music and art were really nice, truly a nice idea.

evolving 2020-04-20 07:55

Like the artstyle and game dynamic! Spent about 15 minutes) Thanks!

cannedveg 2020-04-20 08:34

I had so much fun with this! The music and graphics are fantastic!

splendiddog 2020-04-20 08:39

@cannedveg I'm really glad you enjoyed it! I tried to make the visuals and audio good ='D

I do wish I had time to make more than just the one music loop for it, although I'm still happy with how it turned out! Thanks for playing it and commenting!

dreamer 2020-04-20 10:02

I think can add a score system

alexandroskap 2020-04-20 12:20

A score system would be great but nice work

loginaut 2020-04-20 15:08

This is a really cute game, I think the art is awesome and the drums feel super satisfying. My initial thought is that it would be a rhythm game, and I think that would be a great direction to go in (as opposed to an endless survival type thing). It might help the game feel more thematic and less like a race to spam beats in my humble opinion.

ssstormy 2020-04-20 15:26

Didn't quite see a point in simply not just spamming left and right over and over again :(.

The art is neat however!

siryakko 2020-04-20 19:11

Hi, i've tried your game and since i understand the concept, the shoot didn't really had any effect on the fans, so i've kept losing and losing again without nowing what were wrong. Nice idea tough

splendiddog 2020-04-20 19:27

@siryakko thank you! The fans don't do anything when you shoot them? Usually they'll die after 2-3 hits - This could be a bug?

splendiddog 2020-04-21 00:39

@ssstormy Ahhh yeah- That is a result of the admittedly poorly implemented enemies, at first I wanted to make you fight them to the beat, but do to time constraint and lack of knowledge of how to exactly do that, I opted in for a very simple and barely random enemy system. This is something I do hope on improving on, thank you for your feedback!

kassjak 2020-04-22 13:28

The art is marvelous, but the camera following the player's movement makes it really hard to see where the enemies are coming from or how close they are to you.
