LD46 — Keep it alive

The Beat Keeper by SplendidDog 2020-04-20T05:14:16Z

Nice entry! I think the art is great, good details and colours.

I like the speaker feedback you have when hitting although the game may have benefited from some form of visual feedback when the enemy gets hit, as I originally tried to time the hits to the song and was not doing enough damage to kill the enemy.

Gameplay wise it does become abit spammy as that is the best way to clear out the enemies. Maybe if there were more variation in the enemies/patterns this would be less effective.

Myrion Station by JamesVaughan 2020-04-22T09:02:57Z

Really cool concept. I like it when the story/world is focused on in a jam game.

Like some people have said the locking during dialogue is jarring and I think this game would benefit greatly from a reduced map size. I see the point of making it larger so you can get lost and lose your meters quicker however with slow grid movement it ends up being abit tedious.

Would love to see this fleshed out more in a post-jam update!

Leaning plates by thewrath 2020-04-22T08:08:22Z

Simple mechanics but its fun to play! nice job on the execution.

Love the way the person/plates sway when moving thats a nice touch.

Keep Dano Alive by Blue Pin Studio 2020-04-21T06:17:09Z

Really enjoyed the concept and props for adding voice over and extra details to make it stand out!

I think the gameplay is fun but I wonder if maybe instead of 1 coin per recipe finished you get incremental coins, 1 per 5 seconds for example.

I say this as I found it hard grasping what I needed to do and if I had more coins I may have been able to find out without having to restart the game and reading the guide again.

The idea for this game is great! hope you continue this one in the future.

Akula by Ilya_Nazarov 2020-04-20T11:12:41Z

I like the art style your going for, everything is pleasant and peaceful looking.

The gameplay is nice, although I do think it is a little too difficult and seemed as though I would die before reaching food even without touching the sand that slows you down. Maybe the enemies are spawning too far away?

A bug I saw is if you hold down up before the countdown the shark propels up and then eventually dies offscreen.

Nice entry and really enjoyed the title screen/font!

Space Maze by nodice 2020-04-20T05:30:11Z

@curiouslycory I wanted to keep the explanation minimal but I should have definitely spent more time on making the loop alot clearer. Yes quiting! thats something I wish I had just thrown in as a key. Thanks for the feedback!

Space Maze by nodice 2020-04-20T05:38:05Z

@jeremy-ryan Thanks! the art was something I made first and enjoyed the 1-bitlook so decided to stick with it.

You are spot on with mapping out the area in your head then optimizing but I agree in that procedurally generating the levels would be a good way to add variety if I were to return to this and flesh it out.

Space Maze by nodice 2020-04-21T00:33:52Z

@ilya-nazarov I was able to download it in multiple browsers and PCs and opened. Sometimes chrome waits for your prompt to keep it. I think in that case if you click the arrow next to the download on chrome there should be a "keep file" option.

You may also need to grab either 7zip or winrar both are free and will extract the file. Let me know how you go thanks.

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Slimes and Sandwiches by Nick Rafalski 2021-04-27T08:18:35Z

It seemed like the collision box for the player was too small as sometimes I would back straight into a sandwhich and miss it haha.

I liked that you went for a pacifist dungeon crawler but I would of liked to have another tool other than the dash to navigate the slimes. Maybe dropping something draws the slimes over too it and gives you a chance to escape?

deep tunnel shoot game by ViKingGames 2021-04-29T08:22:19Z

Nice game, I like that you can shoot the platforms the enemies are on! Also nice that the enemies continue dropping down and attacking if there platform moves. Art is really basic but is ok as far as readability.

Lowestop by Popolon 2021-04-28T04:56:12Z

Was having trouble starting the game but pressing "Z" worked for me, you should update the TIC website and edit the ludum dare page with that. Art is super cool! I loved the weird spirit eye sprite that you get to fly around and your jellyfish friend.

I think this game would benefit alot from music as it has a relaxing chill vibe and maybe circles that you fly into for points to add a little extra to it.

Holy Moly by dooleus 2021-05-18T12:26:50Z

Wow this was super fun!! I love the art and racing down while listening to that chill music. The music is amazing really well done for the amount of time allotted on the game jam.

Cool entry

Back Down by juako 2021-04-27T07:33:26Z

Interesting entry, the platforming was fun and I think your strongest attribute was the level design, simple but fun. A think a few parts were a little harder than they needed to be but what helps is the way you foreshadow a save room but showing the tiles in the room there next too it. I think thats a sign of a good metroidvania as the small things matter.

Deep Space Beat by Srynetix 2021-04-27T07:20:20Z

Nice game! The Vector style was really cool and I love that you made the level pulse in with the music, it really adds to the vibe.

I felt the movement was a little too "darty" but I think if you made the enemies come in a little further back or widen the playfield it would make the game feel smoother.

Hope you enjoyed the jam :)

Vacuum Kingdom by Prof.Suarez 2021-04-28T04:16:08Z

Cool Concept! it is pretty ambitious and I think it could have been more coherent if you just focused on 1 aspect or 1 mechanic. I love that you tried something special though! instead of just making something safe.

Into the Deep Web by Jon Topielski 2021-04-27T07:56:07Z

Really liked this game!! I loved the dice mechanic, alot of little decisions (should I buff heal dice, or buff an upcoming 2x attack dice to end the battle early etc). The pokemon naming convention and perspective really suited the style and humor you were going for.

While I was playing, I thought an interesting mechanic to add would be if you get multiple dice in a row of the same number, maybe a special attack happens if you can pull it off. That way you could buff a dice to make it the same or buff a different dice because you need the instant boost. I think it would add an extra layer onto what you have.

Loved the game! hoped you enjoyed the jam

Final Exam by nodice 2021-04-28T03:53:31Z

@dudelesha Thanks for playing!! I liked playing around with effects for this jam

@tgb20 @phoenix-fireflower @thegreenworm @saintchristopher777 @c4scar Thanks everyone!! I agree I really wish I put more challanges/puzzles in before the jam end.

@thegreenworm Glad you like that, I tried to put some in there! and thanks for the audio tip I will put a disclaimer that it is louder than normal.

Final Exam by nodice 2021-05-02T05:26:29Z

@brad-make-games Thanks!! your right music would have helped alot with the atmosphere and mood. Glad you liked the art/sound, Thanks for the kind words

Abyss by BDenis 2021-04-27T08:07:58Z

I think you have a really cool concept here, but in the execution it hasn't panned out. It feels like the critical part of this game is how you move the platform down and it just seemed hard to accomplish. When I got it too work, I thought it was probably due to me just brute forcing.

You could have removed the enemies and the shooting and focused 100% on just moving the platform by harpooning and I think it would be alot more fun. I think sometimes its good to focus on what makes your game unique, even if people were to complain about it being 1 note etc.

Props for trying something with the mechanic though, cool idea!!

pidball by Skarph 2021-05-18T12:05:24Z

This is a cool kind of like tinkering toy that you play with until you get the results you want. I get that you are supposed to mess around with it but maybe a label underneath each knob would help that. I found the same thing as the commenter before that if you just stay still the counter goes up so the scoring doesn't really work.

Doesnt fit the theme but I thought this was cool to mess around with!

Pond-zi Scheme by Fatebreak 2021-04-29T09:11:05Z

Loved this! Such a creative idea for the theme. I like the frantic clicking on timers that happens the further in you get. It ends up being quite chaotic which definitely fits the debt collector/ponzi scheme angle.

Small nitpick but maybe if the driftwood you place has an arrow or something readable to know the direction as some of the driftwood I placed I expected it to path different.

Was sad to game over but loved the death screen!! the game has alot of style!
