The itch.io page doesn't exist
Your itch.io page might be set to private(draft). It's the default setting before you save the page for the first time.
@jirushi @sode @james-shipp Sorry guys and thanks to feedback. It was really set to draft(( I changed it to public. Please let me know if its ok now.
@ilya-nazarov ok thankyou for making it playble I ended up pressing a lot of keys on the coun't down and flying up to the sky (I did another run and ate 11 things)
@sode Thank you for feeding the shark! And it always dreamed of flying))
I did not really get how you die or stay alive: once I ate all fishes and birds and still lost before reaching the next food. Maybe it tires the shark to touch the sand?
@loig Yes. The sand slows down the shark. Maybe I should make it more obvious. Thank you for your feedback!
I like the art style your going for, everything is pleasant and peaceful looking.
The gameplay is nice, although I do think it is a little too difficult and seemed as though I would die before reaching food even without touching the sand that slows you down. Maybe the enemies are spawning too far away?
A bug I saw is if you hold down up before the countdown the shark propels up and then eventually dies offscreen.
Nice entry and really enjoyed the title screen/font!
@nodice Thank you for feedback! Glad you liked art style. I tweaked objects generating not to be too easy or super hard but possible to reach almost every session. So I agreed that it should be improved a bit. And I added starting countdown almost at the last moment but completely forgot to block user input, so lifting force can be accumulated enough to launch the shark to the Moon)))
Painfully difficult to keep this poor shark alive, love the way the shark looks.
Good job, it took 2 rounds to make me clear how to manage the shark without letting him die even eating the fishes and birds. But it's clear, if you touch the sand it slows you down. The only thing that I'd change is that this game doesn't let you make a mistake. When you touch the sand once you're f****d, it's difficult to gain energy again ;)
Its flappy bird, but underwater
@steelysam @team-prosit @nick0124-creator Thanks for playing and for your feedbacks!
I love the art style.
If you press any keys during the countdown for the start of the game, the game still takes them into account and when it starts the shark gets rocketed into space. That little bug got you an extra star for humor.
@justin-c Thanks for playing! I think this bug should not be fixed. Instead I could make a cut scene where the shark travels to the Moon))
The art styles nice, but the shark instantly flew off the screen never to return.
Flappy Shark! The art style was great (reminds me of Jaws on the NES). Gameplay is simple, but intuitive, however game balance is definitely off. As others have noted, I died even after eating every single food source a number of times. At bare minimum, I need to be able to keep moving if I play perfectly, but considering the added difficulty of dodging terrain, this should really be more forgiving about missing food objectives. I would have liked to see more of the game (I don't know if any additional mechanics were involved), but I never made it past the 3rd fish/bird, as my shark always starved =(
Good job on finishing the game, however, I think it could be quite fun if the difficulty is relaxed a bit.
@melonking Thanks for feedback! Sorry for that annoying bug  I forgot to block player input during countdown so don't press anything until the shark starts to move.
@jason-woerner Thank you for playing! My fault that I didn't take enough time to playtest and work on balance and difficulty.
Awesome that you can create engaging games with so simple controls. I think that having some different kinds of fish that increase speed and that the shark becomes bigger with time would have made for a very addicting game. It is kind of a combination of Flappy Bird and Hungry Shark Evolution.
The graphics were cool, music and sfx for player feedback would be a great addition but of course the time that you have in game jams are very limited.
Solid entry overall.
@linus Thank you for playing and for new ideas!
Solid gameplay but if player miss one fish it can be easy to lose the game. Maybe lifetime of the shark should be longer?
@kubeec I agree that difficulty is too high and it should be increased smoothly. Thanks for feedback!
Hm, I don't know if this is just me, but whenever I play the game, after the countdown my shark gains an incredibly amount of upwards velocity and flies offscreen. Looks like a cool game though, I'm just unable to play it.
This is a hard game! But a fun game nonetheless. Surviving means eating everything (even birds!!!). It's maybe too unforgiving. Your game is easy to understand. Graphics are good, simple and effective. Nice LD compo. Good work.
Nice one!
I couldn't resist pressing a key during countdown to see the shark fly, sorry ^^ That being said, nice little game. I do think it is a bit too hard as you can't afford to miss a thing. Miss the first fish? Man I've got some bad news for you... ^^
Graphics are good. I would have loved some audio as well, even simple sound effects :) Overall, a solid entry with tons of potential. Congrats!
"Please don’t press anything during countdown or the shark will fly away!"
*mashes keys during countdown*
This reminds me of an old flash game "Sydney Shark"
The colours actually pretty well chosen as everything stands out and is easy to see. I feel that edible objects are placed too far apart to be fair.
Thank you for playing and your feedback!
@blobo That is a little secret you revealed  Don't tell anyone))
@lapinchatware @linky439 @capital-asterisk Pleased you like it! Thank you and sorry for too high difficulty!
Start playing -> shark goes flying -> wtf? -> actually read the description  Once known that I was able to play and enjoy the game. I think the best part of it is the art. Nice job!
@diegoctorguet  Thank you for playing! :shark:
I love the flying shark (I know I read it XD) nice graphics tho
It feels like controls are too sensitive for comfortable playing. Also, waiting for shark to stop completely before it's dead is a bit tedious, and maybe, if screen would move a bit faster the game would be more fun. Anyway, good job, love the JPG of dead shark :)
I love the graphics. Some music or sounds would've been good to have. This is a Flappy Bird clone with a nice twist where the point is not to completely avoid collision but to avoid the shark slow down completely.
The controls were a bit awkward as I didn't really understand when the shark is supposed to go up just a bit and when make the huge jump. It was hard to keep the shark doing the smaller up-down movements.
Bonus points for the effect when the shark touches ground!
Your idea has potential, i think. I liked the art style, but the controls could use some work as they are way to sensitive. Audio effects and some eating feedback would be great additions, if you decide to improve it further. Congrats on your game!
@pjnovas @quadape @airola @testlab Thank you for playing and for the kind words! It really motivates me to keep going! :hugging:
It's a nice game! I like the art style. The shark, fishes and birds, little islands, everything looks great. Also, the Moon Shark bug at the start is pretty hilarious. ;) There are some things I'd change, though: - The shark jumps way too much after a single key press. You press the key once and the shark jumps up half the screen. It makes it really difficult to control when there's nothing around. When you have to move between a sand hill and an island it's almost impossible. I'd reduce the amount of force used for the jumps by a large amount to give the player more control. - The shark slows down even if you don't hit anything. It makes you lose the game even if you are playing perfectly. I get that you wanted to make sure the player eats other animals instead of just swimming through without catching anything, but it doesn't really work here. I'd probably remove that completely. Give the player a small speed boost when they eat a fish or a seagull, but don't slow them down below the starting speed. - I think the shark mouth collider is a little bit too small. Sometimes I missed the fish I was sure I should get.
Overall it's a really solid compo entry. I very much enjoyed jumping the shark out of the water to catch the seagulls. ;)
Art style was nice, but the collisions didn't feel like they matched the images being displayed. As others have said, it needs a bit of fine tuning in how you go up and down, and how speed gain/loss works. It isn't in the right place right now, but mechanics themselves are pretty solid, minus the moonshark. Good work.
