LD38 — A Small World

W.R.L.D. (World Reconnaissance eLite Defense) by TerraCottaFrog 2017-05-04T18:48:18Z

This game looks super fun but unfortunately I run Linux and the game doesn't work with Wine so I can't try it :/

If you could provide a Linux build that would be awesome! :D

Marco Polo by Nathan 2017-05-03T22:55:43Z

This was a good game, horror games are not my favourite type of game but the story behind the game was quite interesting! The programmer art was real though haha, it is always nice to see these kind of games. I wasn't able to complete game but that might also be because I've played ludum dare games all day and am really tired now, maybe I will check it out tomorrow aswell. Good job!

UFO in a box of bricks by maartene 2017-05-07T10:12:05Z

Fun game. The graphics were cool from what I saw and the music was fitting to the game. I had a problem with the left-alt button which kind of ruined my experience, since that button closed the game for some reason. I couldn't switch projectiles. Anyway great job!

Tub of War by quill18 2017-05-03T22:04:41Z

Great game which felt really polished. I enjoyed watching the livestream when taking a break developing my game. The controls felt somewhat akward at first before I realized how they work but I realized that was intended. The pickups was really cool and the overall feel of the game was awesome. Very fun game with a lot of replay value, great job!

Space Travel 15 by jk5000 2017-05-03T09:01:42Z

Looks really cool, but I can't play it since the game doesn't support Linux and it doesn't work through wine for me. If you could provide a Linux build that would be great!

Routine by Breno_M 2017-05-04T08:20:01Z

Unique idea for a game certainly. I like these kind of puzzle games, although I was unable to get all three of the rebels to meet. One thing that took some time to realize is that you have to click on home and press assign workplace because I didn't see that button at first.

The game could be expanded to have multiple levels but overall it was a pleasant experience. Great job!

A lot of life in a small world by smdeveloper 2017-05-03T19:20:31Z

The idea seems interesting but I couldn't play the game because it doesn't work on Linux, I tried with wine but the game did not display text properly. If you could provide a Linux build I would be glad to try out the game.

Abaddon by Geckoo1337 2017-05-07T17:59:37Z

This game was awesome, it felt like a real shooter game and felt very polished for only 72 hours. It was a fast-paced quite hard game but very fun. On my computer it lagged a bit but maybe I should have turned the quality setting down a bit. I especially like the graphics and music which gives a scary game. The shader you created for this game was really cool and that was quite innovative.

The controls also works well and the ability to tweak the sensitivity was a great feature. I don't really have too much to critize here, you created an awesome game.

Providing a Linux and mac version for your games would be much appreciated in the future. Excellent job!

@pschichtel I was able to get it running on Linux using Wine.

Hugely Unpopular President Simulator by CliffracerX 2017-05-07T10:06:29Z

I was very confused as to what to do but the signs were usually fun to read. Something that could be improved is controls. The sound effects were funny but I jumped on the WRAARRWH sound effect because I had the volume on 100% haha. Good job!

ATLANTIS by OccultOne 2017-05-04T17:34:45Z

This was an awesome game, it took a while until I realized how the game worked and what to do but once I figured that out it was actually a lot of fun. Nice to see another strategy game! I managed to win in my first attempt.

An in-game tutorial wouldn't be hurtful, that would probably help a lot for people who didn't understand the turn-based system at first. Interesting mechanics that were fun.

The graphics were really innovative and good looking too, the 3D effect combined with pixel art was very unique. The music was really nice and most sound effects worked well but I found the white noise sound effect when the ground collapsed very obnoxious and made it hard to focus on the music but other than that the audio aspect was really good for this game! Great job!

King of the world by Linus 2017-05-03T19:15:29Z

@jk5000 @mars @smdeveloper thanks for the feedback about the turnbased system, I made it somewhat more clear how it works in the game now by adding a very simplistic timer to show when the turn ends and updated the tutorial text.

King of the world by Linus 2017-05-03T21:50:14Z

@askania_m might depend on the mouse sensitivity, but using ASWD or arrow keys also work. The neighbour countries that can be invaded are highlighted when you click on a country as explained in the tutorial :)

Could have made it more clear by adding a blinking effect.

King of the world by Linus 2017-05-07T10:30:33Z

Thanks everyone for your feedback, it is really helpful. I might create a post-jam version with all of these issues fixed.

@palemachine @Veralos thanks for the feedback, couldn't satisfy everyone with the real-time/turn-based strategy but I was willing to give it a try to make it not too similar to Risk. Not sure what was the cause of the game not registering your clicks, did you play on the Web version or downloaded version?

I'm thinking about in a post-jam version adding two game modes where one has the real-time aspect and the other game mode is simply turn-based without a timer.

Starstruck Ducky by HuvaaKoodia 2017-05-03T14:24:52Z

Awesome game, the dialog was really funny and the sound effects were hilarious. I had a blast playing the game. Not sure if the encounters with other ducks were random or not but it was fun exploring the alternative routes to win. I accidently double booked myself once and had to choose to attend only one event. Great work!

A Perfectly Lovely Expedition by cerno-b 2017-05-03T20:27:59Z

Short but fun game, the day and night cycle was interesting. The fact that you could dig was not entirely obvious to me at first so maybe that could be explained.

The music and SFX were good too, it added to gaming experience and made me more focused on the game without being too repetitive. Could have been longer but in Ludum Dare there is very little time to work with :) Good job!

Also it works fine on Linux using wine.

Sunny World by Jungle 2017-05-04T07:56:40Z

Awesome game, it was fun to play and the gemeplay was straight forward. Music and graphics were really good aswell. It was quite easy so perhaps with time the difficulty could escalate to challenge the player. Good job!

Worlds Project by TheMonsterFromTheDeep 2017-05-03T20:12:48Z

screenshot_WorldsProject.png

Had fun creating a world for people to live in hehe. It was a very interesting idea. At first I had no idea what was going on so maybe a in-game tutorial could explain briefly the goal of the game instead of just "Try adding things to see what they do.". Though, it was a fun experience adding stuff randomly to see what happens. I wasn't sure how the fish life mechanic worked because they just died after a while.

I started laughing when I saw the humans fighting over the resources that I put down haha. Nice game overall but in the end there is no real end to the game so it becomes dull after a while. Great job overall though!

Worlds Project by TheMonsterFromTheDeep 2017-05-04T08:27:08Z

@themonsterfromthedeep yup that's what I was thinking too, just give the user a general idea on what to do :)

Tiny Tony by Firewill 2017-05-03T21:28:29Z

Nice game with an interesting idea. Very good soundtrack and the game was relaxing but when I first hit the snake and that gasp sound effect played I really jumped, I was not expecting that haha. One thing that could be made more clear is the location of the ball, it was hard to see in the beginning. Perhaps a arrow pointing on the ball or something could be a solution.

The idea of indirect control of the ball was interesting but somewhat hard to control. I wasn't able to get all of the coins but overall a very pleasant experience. Great job!

Super Kaiju Dunk City by emarcotte 2017-05-04T16:47:28Z

What a cool game, I am really bad at rhythm games but this one was awesome to play. The music and pixel art was one of the best I've seen in this jam. A short description of what to do in the beginning could be helpful as I didn't understand which buttons to press on the first run and when I had to press them.

It felt like a complete game and it was really fun. Certainly one of my favourites in this jam!

You Are World. by amras0000 2017-05-03T14:56:32Z

Was the game or title inspired by any chance of the new Gaurdians of the Galaxy movie? Haha. This was my favourite game so far, I was surprised how polished the game felt. The idea of spreading life was interesting. For some reason the music sounded at times really bad in quality, not sure if that is because of my headphones but the higher pitched parts of the soundtrack gave me a headache :p Not sure if anyone else experienced that or if it was just the poor quality of my headphones.

Another thing that could be improved is the visibility of the popup messages, it was hard to read the red text on a dark background so sometimes I didn't see it. Not sure if there was some more advanced strategy to the game but an in-game tutorial explaining how the different tiles affect the world might have been helpful. Anyway the game experience is really awesome and I'm impressed with the mechanics of the game. Excellent job!

Density by Hadermite 2017-05-02T22:43:57Z

Good idea for a game with an interesting take on the theme! The upgrade system was cool and the tax/energi/water system worked well for this kind of game. Something that could be improved is the ability to place buildings with different orientations so that you can build houses on both sides of the road for example. Good job!

Ant Runner by unit684 2017-05-07T10:16:11Z

I liked the concept. Relaxing game but wasn't that hard but still fun. Simple gameplay that was easy to understand. The procedural generation of levels was a really nice touch that added a lot of replay value. Good job!

Supernova by Veralos 2017-05-04T22:07:10Z

Interesting game, I liked the retro graphics and 8-bit music and sound effects. The game was a bit repetitive atleast in the beginning levels but the concept was innovative. Kind of reminds me of a game a friend showed me on Steam the other day, I can't recall what it was called though. Anyhow, good job!

Superbugs by Breadmower 2017-05-04T18:45:23Z

Fantastic game, I love these kinds of puzzle games that have a really neat mechanic. The music and simple sound effects worked well with the game and I found the difficulty level to be good for a Ludum Dare game but more levels could be added that were somewhat harder, still the concept was really innovative and I had a lot of fun playing.

Good job on the short tutorial in the beginning, that was enough to get me started and I knew exactly how the mechanic worked. Excellent job overall!

A Relatively Small World by Samusoidal 2017-05-04T17:59:16Z

First of all congratulations on completing your first Ludum Dare entry! Interesting puzzle game with challenging puzzles. Something that could have been more clear is the names of the cities could be labeled over the actual cities to make it more clear which one was which.

Had to play the game a few times before I understood the mechanic and the goal but then I enjoyed it. Good job!

Destruction Zone by Chronosv2 2017-05-03T22:46:18Z

Incredibly well polished game, very enjoyable. Solid gameplay with a lot of replay value! The powerups makes the game fun and all the mechanics are simple but fun. The difficulty level was good too because it slowly escalated and therefore I had time to figure out how the game worked.

I also liked the fact that you didn't just have to restart the whole game if you died but instead respawned in 5 seconds, very well balanced. Excellent job!

Blocknauts! by EndlessPlumber 2017-05-03T20:00:14Z

This game looks really cool and I wish I could play it but it doesn't run on Linux even with wine. Perhaps there is a way for you to provide a build for Linux?

Blocknauts! by EndlessPlumber 2017-05-04T08:25:36Z

@endlessplumber that's awesome, I am running Arch as well and if it doesn't work on my laptop I'll try on my other computer which has a RX 470 amd graphics card. Thanks for thinking about Linux users :D

kumo. by Turbo Hermit 2017-05-03T14:06:32Z

Congratulations on completing your first entry for Ludum Dare! The game was really relaxing and good looking and the left/right sound effect was cool but could be improved to make the transition between left and right more smooth. As some others have stated there was not enough things to do, but for a simple game like this that is not too much of an issue.

Perhaps to add some more gameplay value you would have the flowers dry out if they didn't get enough water after a while. Good job though!

Murder Mitosis by _for_science 2017-05-03T19:55:00Z

Wow this game was incredibly well polished. The mechanic was interesting and well adapted to the theme, it was a very pleasant gaming experience. The music and sound effects worked well and made me focus on the game.

Not sure how many different strategies there are but the game has a surprising amount of replay value.

The rules were explained well but it took me some time to understand how to win but it quickly became obvious.

It would be really cool if you had online multiplayer but that is something that can be added in a post-jam version.

Also it would be helpful to have a restart option in the menu so that you can retry without having to wait for the match to end or go back to main menu.

Overall it was a really cool game that impressed me on how well polished it was. Magnificent work

Colorfly by Zelos 2017-05-03T21:16:16Z

This was my favourite game so far in this jam and I can't believe this was the first game you finished! Incredible, congratulations on completing your first game and Ludum Dare entry :D

Needless to say the music was magnificent! I got carried away in the game even though the gameplay was rather simplistic. I think the difficulty level was good because this game felt more like a experience that could only truly be appreciated if you could focus on the aesthetics and music.

Very relaxing game. If there was a rating category for presentation I would totally give this game a five in that category, I knew from the start that I would enjoy the game with the intro scene and music. It felt like a movie at first.

Excellent work, I hope you win in the music category and I hope to see you in the next ludum dare event :)

Invasion by mmKALLL 2017-05-02T22:24:43Z

Congratulations on completing your first ludum dare game! You created an addictive game with solid gameplay! The sound effects and music worked great and helped me focus on the game. As others have said it would have been great to display the planet HP to know if I need to upgrade the planet hp next stage.

The game could be improved with more upgrades and better graphics and it may turn out to be the next cookie clicker :p

The Last Game Designer by starvingindie 2017-05-03T22:27:54Z

Really cool game, it was short but it had a powerful story. Very unique interpretation of the theme. I chose to keep making games regardless if anyone sees them or not, I feel that is what is most important.

The graphics were also really cool. This was the best point and click story-based game I have played in the jam! Great work!

My Precious Orbit by SwiftIllusion 2017-05-02T22:14:58Z

Certainly a cool environment with physics based gameplay, it was a solid idea but the input felt a little off. The graphics were really good and the game was a unique interpretation of the theme which is cool.

Perhaps the mouse input could be improved and sensitivty decreased + add the option to change rotation momentum with your arrow keys for more precise control. Some space music would certainly have been awesome too to amplify the space feeling effect even more. Good job!

Strangeness by philomory 2017-05-03T17:08:33Z

Very interesting puzzle game, the mechanic was really cool and it allowed you to think ahead and pause between the moves to think about the moves. Although it wasn't explained very thoroughly the mechanic made sense immediately. I had a lot of fun but couldn't get passed level 3. This seems like it would fit perfectly for a mobile game.

As others have stated something that was not clear from the instructions was that the enemies could freely pass through boulders and kill you if you push the boulder ontop of it, which probably should have been explained atleast. More types of enemies could be added to add some more variety to the levels. Great work!

Floppy McFloppyface by Mars 2017-05-02T22:39:04Z

Awesome game, a very tiny RPG game. Both the melody and programmer art was amusing and kept me playing the game. I couldn't find the glass plate but the overall game idea was cool. Perhaps the player could get a hint after some time has passed and the player hadn't progressed yet so that you don't get stuck on a stage. Good job!

Way Out by Mutfak Studios 2017-05-02T22:00:18Z

The game idea was interesting and I spent quite some time playing the game. The audio and music were really fitting to the game and the graphics style used also improved the overall game experience. For a ludum dare game it was somewhat too hard in my opinion, I did not manage to beat the game. I got really far and then I was killed by a rat or caught by surprise by a bat and had to start all over again which was frustrating.

I think that having checkpoints after those doors that you have to unlock would justify the difficulty level so that the player doesn't have to redo the whole level. Overall good job with the game!

The Deific's Guide to Creating, Exploiting, and Destroying Pocket Worlds by Smiling Cat Entertainment 2017-05-03T15:04:21Z

The game looks cool and the idea is interesting but I am unable to play the game because it doesn't run for me on Linux. I tried running through wine but the text is not rendered properly it seems. Maybe you can provide a Linux build.

SUN GOD by palemachine 2017-05-07T10:27:25Z

Cool entry with a lot of stuff going on. The sound effects and music was generally very nice but the sound effect when the text is being presented in the beginning is quite annoying. It was a very hard game as you needed to avoid obstacles whilst traversing through space and landing on planets. I wish that the convincing process was faster because I landed on a planet and because it took so long to convince that planet to follow my spaceship I was stuck in nothingness and died as I left the planet. Overall great job though!

Electric Space Jelly by inventroom 2017-05-04T17:10:51Z

Very cool game, it had sweet graphics and the music complimented the game well to create a relaxing atmosphere. I just wish there was a way to set difficulty level in stage 1 atleast and as others have suggested the stages could have been shorter. I did play the arcade version so maybe I should have also tried the endless mode.

Cool game overall, somewhat repetitive but still it was quite fun. Great job!

Exhaust of Earth by Lipsch 2017-05-03T20:54:16Z

Congratulations on completing your first Ludum Dare game! The idea was interesting and the tower defense mechanics worked for the most part but it seems the missile weapons didn't target the closest UFOs first. And as previously started the game should start after the tutorial but I could just start over after I had read the tutorial.

The game was somewhat too hard but it is usually hard to balance the game. Not sure if there is any better strategies or if just placing missiles all over the place is the best way to go but that also gives the game some replay value. Good job!

A Couple of Questions, Volume II: Small Business, Small World by stoogebag 2017-05-03T15:48:48Z

This was an awesome game, the dialogs were hilarious and it was really fun to try find clues about the murder. It felt really polished for a Ludum Dare game and the length was good too. Not sure why but sometimes the voice acting just ended before the text had been read completely without me doing anything. Having a button to cancel the conversation would also be a plus.

Very interesting take on the theme aswell. Although one thing that could be made more clear is that the options available to talk about in the notebook should be highlighted but that's just a minor detail. Excellent job!

Tiny Buckler by feltip 2017-05-03T20:44:24Z

Was unable to play the game on Linux, but it certainly looks like a cool game. Perhaps you could provide a Linux build?

LD39 — Running out of Power

Run To Coal! by smdeveloper 2017-08-06T17:16:41Z

If you provide a Linux build I would like to play the game, running the game using Wine doesn't display text properly unfortunately.

Abstract Demon by Knowledge 2017-08-07T18:10:14Z

Interesting game, it took me a few minutes to understand how to play it. Any particular reason you didn't put the description here on ludum dare or gamejolt instead of putting it in a readme file?

The puzzle gameplay was straight forward after I understood the instructions and it was quite fun to try figure out in which order to do stuff. It would have helped having some audio indication that you indeed clicked a option and maybe even having a back button would be much easier but that ruins a bit of the game maybe as you could simply click and try each option until you found the solution.

I agree though with what others have said, the graphics and UI was distracting and would have needed more work but just think about that to next time :)

Good job!

P.S:

I got this on level 2 one time when I pressed finish level and then there was an option to click finish level again on next level: ```python Traceback (most recent call last): File "game.py", line 396, in game.main() File "game.py", line 370, in main self.click(*event.pos) File "game.py", line 332, in click self.lev.run(i) File "game.py", line 278, in run self._run(self.focus.node.exp[i - 1]) AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'node' Failed to execute script game ```

WrongWay by Geckoo1337 2017-08-05T13:25:06Z

This was a really fun game and everything in the game combined made it into a really cool experience which reminds me in some ways of Smash Hit. I think the movement was well implemented but some obstacles were really hard to avoid unless you kept really close to the sides. Not really a bad thing but something that could be balanced a bit maybe.

I didn't realize at first I had to stay on the pink line to not lose power because I didn't see the bar at the top but that was certainly a nice factor to add in to make the game even harder! Really cool.

Very nice to have a leaderboard too, it made me want to play the game more and I got 11th I think. A really cool touch would be to have some kind of label on the ground which would correspond to the highscore of other players so you can see when you pass other players and you can see how far you got last time too. Even having a text saying how far it is left to the next highscore would be cool. Still having a leaderboard at all is really nice and often makes the games so much more fun to play.

Great job and I hope to see you in the next Ludum Dare :D

Bolt World by Linus 2017-08-06T21:20:32Z

@Mars thanks for the feedback, the hitbox is a sphere since balls usually are spherical shape :p So because the smaller balls don't touch you when you are much bigger you have to basically roll over them. Maybe I should have made the hitbox a square instead with the same dimensions as the sphere's diameter.

Fart Squirrel by Pandakipu 2017-08-12T19:00:01Z

Unrealisitc physics (0/10).. Just kidding haha. Very funny game which was unlike any other platformer I have played this LD. I managed to reach unlimited power! The art was consistent and worked well and the SFX + music was really good.

As others have said the controls were good and the checkpoint was a really good thing because it was annoying to have to restart from the beginning. One thing that was a bit annoying was that there was no way to descend quickly so you would have to wait for the character to slowly descend. But I suppose the game might have been too easy if you could descend quickly because there would be a very low risk of dying.

Also the fact that your "power bank" increased after dying many times made it less frustrating and motivated me to keep playing. Great job!

Mr Mayor's Energy Crisis by HuvaaKoodia 2017-08-07T15:57:00Z

Very solid entry that I had a lot of fun with. The theme is very clear in this game and certainly a good implementation of the theme in this game. This is not the first game I have seen where there is a meta intepretation of theme that is no matter what you do eventually you will run out of power and there is nothing you can do about it.

It really is frustrating that no matter how you try to compensate with different sources of power in this case, popularity will always decline and people will never be happy. It is just an impossible task!

These kinds of games that reflects reality in such an accurate way really gets me. This game certainly got my attention and I'm very impressed by the amount of content.

Just having some tips on how to play the game in the beginning could have helped though because a lot of people including me don't read the description of games because we are so eager to play the actual game. Having a short text that tells the player to adjust the sliders to change power output and how it affects the popularity would have been really helpful!

Excellent job!

Invaders From The Next Planet Over! by SimplePotential 2017-08-06T12:46:05Z

The gameplay was solid and I had a lot of fun with the game for a while. I liked the use of the mouse and the controls were really straight forward. It was hard not spamming the mouse buttons because you really wanted to hit the enemy ships and rocks but you need to be careful as to not use all of the power.

Adding some sort of powerup would amplify the gameplay but as is this game was a nice entry. Good job!

Unadexus by smbe19 2017-08-07T17:51:48Z

This is definently my favourite game so far in this Ludum Dare. Amazing game with very impressive complexity for such a short time period as 48 hours! This strategy game is certainly one of a kind, I have not seen anything alike in this Ludum Dare :p

I agree with Somnium that tooltips would have helped certainly and the helper text in the bottom right corner really felt akwardly positioned, I wish that the text popped up at the cursor position on screen so you can clearly see what it says and having some audio play would also make it even clearer. It took me 5-10 minutes before I understood how to generate power and how to sustain it but after that and thanks to the very detailed tutorial you provided (though external) I had a lot of fun and played the game for a long time.

With this complex strategy it becomes hard to balance of course but you did a reasonably good job. I just kept running out of power on earth (-66 power per second haha): game.png

What made it hard was all the combined factors and the fact there is no renewable energy source available (which is of course part of the game), for me it became a challenge and I found it very fun to try build a good enough infrastructure on earth to be able to travel to other planets but it just becomes a bit too much micromanagement to be able to keep up. You run out of power so quickly :p

I will try again some other day to see if I can beat the game but I would really like a post jam version of this game with an in-game tutorial and easier controls (sliders and high level management system for planets). The realtime factor can be improved is just what I am trying to say.

This game will certainly be something I will remember from this Ludum Dare, thank you for making such a cool game!

You have done a marvelous job with this game nonetheless!

Mothership by Almax 2017-08-05T10:53:17Z

Very impressive. It's rare to see strategy games in Ludum Dare especially RTS games. The mechanics were really well implemented and it was a blast playing the game. Everything in the game together is what made it such a fun experience.

The fact that this game had control groups was also really astonishing. It was very useful when you wanted to send a group of units to attack a group of enemies far away before the mothership reached that area. My only wish was that you could hold shift to add to a selection like in Age of Empires.

The game was really well balanced too, I thought that when I had reached a critical mass of units there would be no way to stop me from reaching my destination but I was wrong.. I was literally a second away from the end of the path when I lost all my power to the enemy ships. I tried again but wasn't able to come as far. I'm gonna have to try again some other day, I really wanted to see what happens when you reach the end :p

This was my favourite game so far and really impressive for a LD game, excellent job!

I Once Had Power by jackyjjc 2017-08-05T12:00:58Z

Really nice game, the theme was well embedded into the game and the game told an interesting story. As other has said it was a really interesting interpretation of the theme and I haven't seen any other game do something similar like this game.

The actual gameplay was basic but I enjoyed it but it became quite repetitive after a while and didn't hold my attention for long. I wish the attack swing was a bit faster so there wasn't a delay, made it a bit rough to play.

I experienced a weird bug when I played the game, after I had killed the 10 men the character just laid down on the ground and the storytelling continued but I couldn't do anything. Maybe it was because I reduced my health with 50% or something, not sure.

Good job, though!

Breathless Parks - Running, out of Power by gonutz 2017-08-05T12:12:11Z

Wasn't able to get audio with wine and go wouldn't download the source code, I think that my version of gcc is not compatible with go or something. I got this error "/tmp/go-link-113887362/000000.o: file not recognized" running on Arch Linux.

Breathless Parks - Running, out of Power by gonutz 2017-08-06T12:13:21Z

@gonutz I got it working on my other Linux machine running Linux Mint without any problems, I just had to set $GOPATH to some directory. I compiled it and I was able to play the game.

Funny game haha. I was too slow to win though, couldn't get the right rhythm but still nice idea. Maybe if there was some sort of visualization so you can see when to press the arrows it would be easier, the instructions arrows seems to not be the right rhythm and I don't know if it's about pressing as fast as possible either.

Graphics and audio was nice, well done. A bit of humour as well, I didn't win the game but listened to win.wav "I have the powaaah.." :p

P.S: Thanks for the feedback on my game also, can't believe you got 59k mass O.o

Journey in the Dark by FurkanFS 2017-08-04T17:57:25Z

Great game, very impressive for your first Ludum Dare. The mechanics were really innovative and well implemented too.

The idea is a great take on the theme and you managed to polish up the game quite well. The graphics were simple and the colours works well in this kind of athmosphere that the game creates. The audio is also simple but elegant and did not annoy the player so it was easier to focus on the game.

As others have said the main complaint I have is the jumping did not feel quite right as it was very easy to jump into an obstacle and die instantly which took away some of the fun. Also wall jumping would be a cool and fun mechanic to include to increase the fun factor.

I also noticed that the level differed from time to time which is also great. I couldn't tell if it was procedural or not though.

Overall great job!

Moon Base Disaster by Hadermite 2017-08-07T16:12:37Z

Good game! An interesting interpretation of the theme that I haven't seen in any other games so far in this Ludum Dare.

I know that you struggled with motivation and that is understandable, just keep particpating in game jams and you will soon find it much easier to keep going for longer and longer until you realize there is just too little time to implement everything you want and you just wish you had even more time hehe.

Good job and I hope to see you in the next Ludum Dare!

Sky Sea by Zeriver 2017-08-05T10:21:22Z

Incredible, it was a very nice experience even though it was short. But I guess that's a good sign since people seem to want more of this experience so that means you succeeded creating a game that has caught peoples' attention, great job!

I didn't realize at first I could interact with the dialog so maybe having the options labeled with a number preceding it would make it very obvious that you can choose an option.

The graphics were really cool looking and everything together in the game creating a very calming and interesting experience which adds to the mood a lot.

Great job overall!

JouleThief: Charge Your Phone by kroltan 2017-08-05T12:23:45Z

A Linux build would be nice so I can try the game. The web version both with Chrome and Firefox running on Linux atleast made the character move really really slowly and made the game basically unplayable unfortunately.

Rolling out of power! by Willbl3pic 2017-08-06T12:34:29Z

Really good idea, the pitch based on power effect was really awesome and added a lot to the game because keeping track of the battery in the bottom left corner can be hard when you have to watch out for obstacles.

I just wish that the purple obstacles that you needed to avoid were a bit more distinct colour and something with a lot of contrast to the other colours so that you don't accidentally run into a bunch of purple blocks.

Still I enjoyed playing the game but having a leaderboard would make it even more fun. It is an easy way to improve your games especially with a tool like dreamlo.com

EDIT: I just realized I were supposed to avoid the red blocks and not the purple ones haha. Maybe using a different shape for the red blocks could help because I forgot which ones to avoid.

Robby Goes Rogue by Mars 2017-08-06T14:39:07Z

A Linux port for this game would be great, I'd like to try the game but it doesn't support Linux and doesn't work for me with wine.

Robby Goes Rogue by Mars 2017-08-06T21:21:14Z

Alright, I'll check your game out if I get access to a Windows machine sometime.

Escape! by Damoy 2017-08-05T12:41:02Z

Really fun game, works perfectly for me on Linux. The mechanics worked well for the most part but not sure if intended or not but I kept the key sometimes when I died and didn't have to collect it again. Maybe it was only for silver keys? Same thing happend to health pickups sometimes too so not sure.

Still the game managed to catch my attention and it was fun but level 8 was just too hard for me. The timings needed to be really precise and after dying on the same level over and over I gave up so maybe a level selector or level skipper could be implemented so I can check out all the levels :)

Good job overall though!

BAT-BATTERY by cenullum 2017-08-05T12:47:40Z

Neat game, I tried the web version but not sure if intended but the only SFX I heard was the hit sfx when the bat got hit. A lot of content in the game but because there was no music and SFX the game was a bit dull. Good job though!

HE BEAT HER. by Angela He 2017-08-05T11:22:56Z

Incredible visuals and music. It was really fun trying to come up with different things to do and write in different keywords to see what effect they had. I can't believe you made everything in 48 hours that is just amazing and it was your first Ludum Dare too :D

At first I didn't realize what to type so I opened the walkthrough which was a really good thing that you added so people can still complete your game. The connection to the theme was not at first obvious but I realized the game is supposed to be played many times in order to get the ending, reminds me a bit of Life is Strange.

I didn't pickup on all the things in the introduction so maybe having a notebook or something where you small hints would be written could have been useful but that is just a minor detail.

Amazing job and I hope to see you in the next Ludum Dare, Angela :)

Battery Low by Freedom Is Slavery 2017-08-07T16:06:49Z

Good game, with a very literal intepretation of the theme hehe. It was fun and kind of addictive also. The graphics were simple but worked well and consistent in style.

I didn't understand how to play the game at first since I kept spamming left mouse button to pickup the chargers, I really wish that instead of enter you used the left mouse button but other than that I liked the game a lot.

Having a leaderboard would certainly also make the game more addictive since you would compete trying to get top score on the leaderboard. Good job!

Run Ning out of Power, Montana by jekstrom 2017-08-07T18:18:55Z

Cool game, very simple to play and you get straight into the fun. The pickups were nice and the powerups worked well and was cool.

It is a well implemented survival game that is good for a Ludum Dare game. The art was pretty decent for a non-artist and they worked well for this game. Since the style was consistent there wasn't really a problem. The problem is when there is too much contrast between some elements in a game (my game would be a good example of this haha). You managed to provide pretty good gameplay with all the required components of a game (sound effects, music, gameplay, well implemented game mechanics, smooth controls and even a tutorial).

Of course if you wanted to make it a more interesting survival game you could have added a leaderboard using a simple tool such as dreamlo.com but that is of course not a necessity.

You did a good job with this game, hope to see you in the next Ludum Dare

They Attack At Night by randomphantom 2017-08-07T15:35:56Z

Awesome game, unfortunately it doesn't run very well on Linux. Had a really weird graphical bug with the buildings (see the image below): bug.png

Not sure why that happend (I downloaded the post-jam version of the game) but it ruined my experience somewhat but still I enjoyed the gameplay of the game.

Neat idea but I was a bit confused about what to do first because I didn't really know where to look. There was a lot of floating text billboards but I think they should have been displayed as UI components in order and maybe even be interactive so that it would display the next text when you accomplished the specific goal and element that you explained in the current text, if you get what I'm trying to say.

Still, very cool game and very impressive for a LD game. It felt like a full game that I had a lot of fun with. Great job!

Character Building by Badly Drawn Rod 2017-08-06T12:25:04Z

Remarkable game, it really is a bit depressive to think that this is only a game and then to realize that real life is just like this. No matter what you do in some situation the outcome will always be negative and even replaying the game and choosing the other answer has the same negative outcome.

The game tells a story that is really powerful (no pun intended :p). Even though the aesthetics were simple the content was really good and a very good interpretation of the theme.

Having some pictures added to the dialogs could certainly amplify the effect of the game even more but the game is a solid entry as is.

Great job!

ANSWER ME! by Viliar 2017-08-05T10:58:59Z

Seems like a fun game but please provide a Linux build, I can't play it otherwise. Doesn't work using Wine because the text is not visible.

Running out of PEWer! by The Lucky Pew 2017-08-04T20:22:27Z

Looks really cool but it doesn't run natively on Linux or web. If I get access to a windows computer I will try it but a Linux port would be greatly appreciated.

LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

Synapse by Geckoo1337 2017-12-04T22:27:52Z

Hey, cool entry. It was polished and the mechanic was quite innovative. I did not completely understand how the mechanics worked but somehow I still realized what sequence to use to finish the level. I managed to finish all the levels but could not find the optimal sequences using only 2 moves per level.

This game would be really awesome if the levels could somehow be procedurely generated so you can take a break from work and play this relaxing game for a while :D

The graphics, sound effects and music was great but in my opinion blue would be a better colour than red taking into account the overall setting the game gives. Blue is a more relaxing colour in my opinion :)

Great entry!

Haunted House on 43rd Street by Franklins Ghost 2017-12-22T14:44:05Z

Weird experience, but in a good way. It was fun to play and the graphics and music made for a very interesting experience and all animations and sound effects + dialog was quite intriguing. Not exactly sure how to interpret the theme in this game but I suppose that if the game would be longer it would make more sense. The further you go, the worse it gets?

Anyway, excellent mood and quite humoristic aswell. Great job!

Babies! Babies! Babies! by Local Minimum 2017-12-22T15:56:41Z

Standing in fire is the only way I figured out to get rid of all the babies. Kind of brutal but it fits with the overall athmosphere of the game.

The visuals was unique and unlike anything I have seen in a Ludum Dare game. It was a nice addition to the humoristic/creepy experience.

Controls were pretty good but a little hard when there were so many babies around heh. Great job!

Avoider by Linus 2017-12-04T23:07:42Z

@360 Thanks for playing my game!

The enemies do the same movements you did between reaching the destinations and the idea is that the more destinations you pass the harder it becomes to avoid running into your past self. The first few levels are quite easy so that the player can understand the objective, level 4 and 5 is somewhat harder. I guess I could have been more explicit about the "past self movement behaviour". Thanks for the feedback again :D

A time paradox by lythom 2017-12-22T14:43:47Z

This reminds me of my game in many ways. We had very similar ideas, I didn't think anyone would come up with such a similar mechanic. It is a very interesting idea and more mechanics could be added in addition to make for even more intersting levels.

For some reasons the controls didn't feel very responsive, it would take some time before the move you made actually happend, but I suppose that might have to do with how the "ghost" movement is implemented.

The dynamic music was really awesome and added to the athmosphere of the game. It wouldn't have been as intriguing if the music wasn't there.

Awesome job and great idea :)

The Precarious Balance by Somnium 2017-12-04T23:03:42Z

Strategy games are always fun. This one was well done and all of the random events kept you going and the game didn't become dull.

Being the "strategist" I am and focusing on the "important" things all the time, happiness was the most difficult factor and was my culprit likewise in Civilization 5 and sometimes real life too..

I didn't fully understand how the happiness score worked, do I gain happiness each day or is it only gained from random events?

The implementation of the game was well done and the controls were good but I would have liked if there some kind of feedback if pressing a button did not work, for example if you try to make Mark do your homework I didn't know if it was successful or not.

Good strategy game and very interesting link to real life and the theme :D

Honey Money by harusame 2017-12-22T15:26:02Z

Fun game with interesting mechanics. The controls were simple and it was easy to remember. Some games have really complex controls making it very hard to play the game.

The graphics were nice and the in-game tutorial is a good addition as it was very clear what to do. The NPCs were not very smart but worked nevertheless but if you had more time, this would be something that could have been improved.

Nice addition with the scoreboard too. Good job!

Minimal Walking Simulator by gonutz 2017-12-04T22:34:51Z

You did a good job on the self-made minimal game engine. Looking at the code, it looks organized and the implementation seems solid. Creating this engine in 48 hours + a complete game would be very hard but now that you have a minimal game engine, maybe you can use it for the next Ludum Dare to create a complete game using it :D

You can't handle my final form by Zeriver 2017-12-04T22:15:48Z

Wow, this was a really fun game. The interpretation of the theme is very cool. The most obvious idea for a game is to have many levels and with each level that you clear, the harder the levels become. But playing many levels simultaneously was a really cool mechanic that worked really well.

This is the kind of game I can imagine my classmates play during lessons :p

It is somewhat slow to progress before it gets interesting but that is a good thing for new players but I could certainly see the game having two modes that you can play after you are more used to the game.

The graphics were really nice looking and consistent in style which made the game look interesting and fun. Great job!

Vroom Vroom Kaboom by profan 2017-12-22T15:12:27Z

I love these types of games, really cool to see this sort of programming puzzle game in a LD. Three simple rules can create complex behaviour. I would love to see an AI try to solve this puzzle for many more taxis. How many taxis could the AI handle?

It was a lot of fun coming up with and optimizing solutions and the levels had a nice difficulty progression.

The ^, < and > keys made sense in a way but they are not as friendly to type as A, S and D or Q, W and E for example. I would have mapped the ASD or QWE keys to <>^ for easier typing. It would have made for a better user experience.

Destinations could also have been visually presented by using colours. So different taxis would have had different colours and the same colour for the destination.

Overall, super fun game and awesome job!

Apparently I'm a detective by Hayzar 2017-12-17T18:46:03Z

I've been planning to play this game for sometime and I'm glad I did. Story games are really fun to play and I like that you only need a mouse to play, however it seemed that the character was in the way for some of the clues which made it hard to click on them and sometimes no text would appear, not sure if that was intentional.

The graphics worked well, the walking animation could have been better but I didn't really notice it that much. The music and sound was very good and without it, the game would have felt very empty.

I'd really like to see a extended version of this game, this is a start of something that could be expanded in many ways and include plot twists and such. Great job!

Make Ludum Dare Great Again by ultimategrinder 2017-12-06T22:48:49Z

One of the funniest games I have played in Ludum Dare history haha. Coffee is great :D

Graphics and the overall feel of the game as really great, the controls were okay but somewhat difficult but that's alright since otherwise it would have almost been too easy.

Great job and thanks for this awesome game :p

Do Ki by 360 2017-12-04T23:17:36Z

Interesting game, I didn't realize there was no way to win until I understood that the game is an infinite fighter game I guess.

I only got the 1 numpad key to work and the 2 didn't do anything. Using the LMB and RMB would be a better idea I think though because I had to get my desktop keyboard to play the game since I am playing it on my laptop.

The random level generation was cool and adds replay value, but more enemies and other mechanics such as pickups would make for a more "complete" game. It's a good thing that you published the game even though you didn't manage to finish it completely :D

Nice entry!

Cowquest by papacheech 2017-12-17T18:54:27Z

Really glad I got around to play this game despite being quite busy. It was so well done and very fun to play. The gameplay was really intuitive and controls worked quite well but not sure if the pickup item control was necessary, as you could have just made it so you pickup items when you walk on them.

The bombs were also really fun and sometimes you could get combos throwing bombs on enemies who would blow up holding some projectile that would blow up other enemies :)

The music was also really catchy and made for a really good mood in this game. Awesome job!

Conquer by OmnipotentIndie 2017-12-17T19:15:14Z

Fun game and good idea, but I don't understand why you have to kill everyone, there was no real motive :p

I also didn't realize I had a bow, so that could have been more clear in the game. The gameplay was solid and you could come up with different strategies on how to best take out a group of enemies. First take out the enemies with bows and then take out the enemies one by one.

The graphics worked well and the walking animation was really fun to look at. The sounds were okay but some music would be good to give the game a bit more uniqueness. Good job!

Kittie Reaper: A Depressed Cat Tale by jfraser314 2017-12-07T22:36:52Z

What an interesting idea :D The graphics worked very well with the game and the music was catchy. I didn't really understand why the pigs were suicidal but that definitely made the game more difficult.

Good thing there was an in-game tutorial, people tend to miss that and many people don't read the description. As others have said, the collision handling was a little obnoxious in the way that you sometimes would just stop because you collided with something not really touching the player, since it's a topdown game it makes more sense to have the hitbox around the feet. The level design could have been made to make sure the player doesn't sneak in somewhere where he shouldn't.

The things I've mentioned are just some details, I really admire the fact that you got together and made this into a classroom project. I wish my teacher had these kinds of ideas :D

Great job and very inspirational.

Capital Hell by Kapura 2017-12-17T19:05:29Z

Unlike anything I have played in any Ludum Dare. Perfect use of different assets to make for a very interesting but humoristic experience.

What's interesting is that the first thought I had was to start shooting people with my projectiles, but why? Probably, because that's what games are about. However, the second time I did nothing and I "won". Very interesting interpretation of the theme.

I was going to complain about all the money covering your screen but now after I played the game the second time, it made sense. Great job!

Crosstalk by shinyogre 2017-12-17T19:44:41Z

I can see how this game could be tweaked in so many ways. Instead of having only silence and noise, what if you had different types of noise and could play around with the relationship between them and exploring the latent space.

Very innovative game and fun to try come up with the relationships. It is cool that I managed to find the solution despite not having a clue how I did it. Was the solutions random or was there a pattern to it? Not really sure.

Fun game/toy and I hope to see some tool created with it to make music in some bizarre way. Good job!

Epitaph by velvetlobster 2017-12-17T19:26:57Z

Well done with what you have. The atmospheric of the was super nice, and the story that you could sort of parse out, that the protagonist was a widow and each day you would go through the same chores and wait out the little time you had left. Atleast that's how I interpreted it.

The music and visuals made for a really good mood aswell.

The gameplay was a little lacking and repetitive, I wish that you used a little more time to make it more interesting, maybe with some dialog or something throughout the days.

Good job!

Sumo Slam 2D by Joel Rochon 2017-12-05T21:21:52Z

Super cool game, I like the fact that you can get straight into the game and the gameplay was so obvious. Very nice polish and lovely graphics.

The ground movement based on the character size was really innovative and worked quite well. The thing that made it slightly obnoxious was that sometimes when pressing left the character would go right because he would immediately bounce on something and that made it somewhat hard to control. Perhaps using the mouse and LMB would work better for more precise control.

If these things were improved I wouldn't be shocked if this became the next flappy bird like game, simple to play yet very addicting :D

Donuts!! by SadColor 2017-12-17T19:34:57Z

Really cool idea. It was fun to play and felt like a puzzle. It was a little like juggling with donuts. But why donuts? Haha.

Very cool graphics, the size option in the menu could have been explained in the game description because I didn't realize it was there at first and the game was very tiny. The sounds are minimal but adds to the atmosphere, I would have liked some catchy music aswell.

The controls were kind of difficult and I didn't quite figure out how the drop mechanic worked with shift + release. Still after playing a few times, the game was a whole lot of fun.

Great job!

LD42 — Running out of space

Deadlock by Geckoo1337 2018-08-14T19:49:58Z

This looks like a really fun puzzle game, I can't play it unfortunately because the game isn't built for Linux :(

worm.exe by Linus 2018-08-15T19:24:37Z

@tetra thanks for playing and recording it , I agree the game is quite easy but I guess I just felt like making a easy game that is fun for a couple of minutes.

worm.exe by Linus 2018-08-15T21:05:19Z

@neowhoru thanks for the feedback, I did use the windows xp icons and background as reference but the art is handdrawn and not copied so that should be okay for compo

worm.exe by Linus 2018-08-20T21:08:46Z

@saoi-games thanks a lot for playing my game, you made some very good points that I didn't consider when developing my game. I learnt a lot about how you as a player interact with my game and I hope I can implement that knowledge in my upcoming Ludum Dare games

worm.exe by Linus 2018-08-31T21:16:49Z

@huvaakoodia Hahaha I know that I tend to repeat myself and implement similar ideas and use the same tools :stuck_out_tongue:, I guess I keep telling myself that if I keep doing the same concept for Ludum Dare I will eventually get better but honestly when I think about it I really should try out new concepts and ideas so I can improve as a hobby game developer.

About the graphics and music, thanks for giving me honest feedback. It is super helpful and now I know what I need to work on in the future. I've been doing Ludum Dare for about 4 years and I feel my progress have slowed down a bit. I've looked back at my timelapses for Ludum Dare and seeing what I spend the most time doing, quite fascinating how I've started spending less time on what I am bad at and more time at what I think I do the best.

By the way, I checked out the puzzle game with windows 95 graphics. Great example on how small details makes the game more fascinating. I'll try to implement that concept into my future games.

Thanks for always giving me so sincere criticism. I appreciate it very much!

Mini Micro by HuvaaKoodia 2018-08-14T20:13:25Z

This is the best game I've played made by you for Ludum Dare, it was so much fun trying to figure out the logic and also having the required dexterity to be able to control the transistors and storage.

Very unique interpretation of the theme which works very well with the game mechanics.

I love games which are easy to understand and you get the hang of it quickly and uses simple controls. The only complaint I have is that there is no "prepare time" given to analyze the level before the data starts flowing. Maybe there could be a delay so you are able to observe and work out the level.

Great job

TrackBlasters by paulloz 2018-08-15T21:02:50Z

Cool game, very nice art. It felt polished and the game mechanics were functional but needed some more work I think. It was almost too easy to fall off even when there seemed to be enough space between the holes. It was a bit too difficult to control the player. Maybe using space for throttle and A/D for left and right instead of arrow keys. Also being able to reverse would be nice.

I miss the lap counter because sometimes I didn't realize if I was going in the wrong direction or if I had completed a lap. I feel the levels were almost too open without much indicating where to go, but I understand that it needs to be open so you can navigate around the holes you create.

Good job overall, it was fun.

Warp Tunnel by TheMonsterFromTheDeep 2018-08-15T20:39:06Z

Wow, what a fun game, but I'm exhausted now, I know you can simply hold space to shoot automatically but that has a timeout, by spamming space you don't have any delay which deals a lot more damage. For some reason when I got to the really big yellow ship I killed it but then for some reason the game just crashed, not sure if I accidently pressed a button or because I was running your game in Linux through Wine.

It worked very well otherwise and certainly rewarding when you are successful in a battle. Something which could have been useful is to get a percentage on the health for enemies and your own ship, because the visual damage was nice but it was hard to tell exactly how much health other enemies and your own ship had.

Great job overall, worked well on Linux too

Freezing Sky by Zeriver 2018-08-15T20:22:50Z

Really cool, it reminds me a bit of quill18 game for Ludum Dare 29. It has similar game mechanics. It was fun to clear out the space to be able to build, but it was somewhat limiting because it was quite slow to expand downwards. Because you couldn't get the necessary resources and build new buildings I could only maintain one level at a time.

Also it would be nice if the game tells you that a building can't be completed because there are no free workers. Also when you dig down you can put in 20 workers but sometimes you don't have enough resources for 20 workers, maybe the game could limit the amount of workers based on the amount of resources you have.

Very solid entry overall, nice graphics. I had a few visual bugs with workers being freezed in the rocks and I couldn't get them to move but it didn't affect the gameplay I think.

Great job!

Space Race by Raziyya 2018-08-16T18:59:25Z

Good game, the theme was used in a smart way and I enjoyed trying to avoid bullets and trying to shoot down enemies. The controls were a bit wonky and I kept getting stuck at walls and such when I tried to avoid enemies.

The bullets were somewhat hard to see, maybe using the same neon effect for the bullets could work.

Good job overall

Red Square by tetra 2018-08-14T19:36:55Z

This looks like a very interesting puzzle game, it doesn't run on Linux though so I can't test it properly, I'll make sure to leave a rating if I get access to a Windows machine.

I looked at the gameplay footage and this is a really fun game mechanic, the levels are designed well and introduces new concepts in a simple and understandable way.

I like the pink walls that contract which creates a level of stress, maybe adding some other moving obstacles on the map would be interesting to create a more challenging game.

CLAUSTRO by Blinkenlights 2018-08-16T18:50:37Z

Very unique game, it was a nice experience and easy to control once you understood the mechanics. It's nice to try to be clever about the placement of the words so you can reuse letters. I wish you could see the upcoming word like tetris so you can plan ahead a bit better.

Nice job on the simple graphics, they looked good and certainly colour could be mixed in to make the game more interesting but keeping it this way gives the game a special feel about it.

Good job overall

Survirus by AdultLink 2018-08-16T19:14:22Z

Really awesome game, it works well on Linux too. This is indeed a fast paced game, I had a hard time to keep up especially in the beginning since I kept forgetting which arrow key corresponded to which colour.

I kept pausing and looking, maybe that's why I should "feel" and not think , but having an arrow below the countdown would be very helpful atleast in the beginning as a tutorial mode so you memorize the colours.

Really cool game overall, the virus added to the stress and you really had to focus to make sure you don't get stuck on tiles with the same colours. Sometimes when the virus appeared I was unable to move anywhere and I assume that's because I had different coloured sectors around me. I think you should be able to escape from the virus even if the sectors mismatch.

Survirus by AdultLink 2018-08-21T20:40:25Z

@adultlink It worked well on Linux without any slowdowns or visual glitches as far as I can tell, not sure though if the game is supposed to be much faster than what I experienced but I thought it was quite fast so I'm sure it works as intended

Looks fun but couldn't get it to work on Linux using Wine :(

Viral by BigBossErndog 2018-08-13T20:12:11Z

Really fun game, it was quite challenging but the game mechanics were very well implemented, you got that spot with the theme! The distractions were well balanced since they didn't ever become annoying, they just added an extra twist to the game.

It would have been nice to be able to click on a window to become "focused" so the windows would appear in front of everything else. Now you were kind of limited on how many windows you can have open at the same time.

All in all, very fun game. It is quite similar to mine but has a the aspect of navigating folders, I'd appreciate it very much if check out my game

@bigbosserndog I see, I never tried clicking the blue bar.

Bus Mayhem by artbohr 2018-08-13T18:47:47Z

Simple game but it plays well and it was quite challenging. Even though the music and art was simple, the game mechanic was well implemented and that's what makes a good game when the game mechanics work well, the art and music comes second hand in my opinion.

Good job!

LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

Exploding Sport by jk5000 2018-12-26T15:38:34Z

Beautiful game with a lot of polish. But where is my AI friend? :(

Cool game overall, I had fun playing but was unable to play with another person. I'll comeback to give a rating when I'm able to play with someone else.

Sound effects were funny and I see the connection to the theme but it could have been used in otherways where a sacrifice has a negative impact.

Effigies by Geckoo1337 2018-12-24T14:19:09Z

Really good game with such a fun mechanic. Reminds me a bit of a rubik's cube, one move affects many things. It took some time before you figure out the algorithms you need to shuffle the effigies around. Having a move count score would be nice so you can try to improve the efficiency at which you solve the puzzles.

Interesting take on the theme, it is not clear at first how the theme was used but my interpretation was that you must sacrifice positions in order to progress further. Sometimes you would have 2 of 3 effigies in the correct position but the last one needed to do some algorithm to be put in place.

Great job!

Heat Shield by nander 2018-12-24T14:31:04Z

The game doesn't start unfortunately. Nothing happens when I click on HeatShield.exe running windows 10 64 bit.

Heat Shield by nander 2018-12-24T14:41:13Z

@nander yes, I can see all the game files but when I try to start the executable nothing happens. If you have a web version I could play it, otherwise I'll wait until I have another windows machine to try on.

Coloremix by HuvaaKoodia 2018-12-24T13:51:18Z

Great game, it was fun for a while but as you stated in the description once you understood the rules it was simply a matter of mixing colours to get 2 black dots and then 2 of the same ones and you can then destroy all the unwanted dots by combining with a black dot.

It felt very polished for being a game made in only 12 hours with a very helpful tutorial. The sound effects were rewarding.

Great job on this puzzle game

An Adventure within a Deep Forest by BoltKey 2018-12-03T16:46:06Z

This game was captivating, the tutorial was superb and wasn't dull at all with the way you integrated a story into the game.

Something that I did not understood was that if you lose your ability to swim you can still jump over water that is 1 block wide. This took a while for me to figure out.

I wasn't able to complete all levels, very difficult game. However, it was enjoyable. I'm not sure which level I got to, would be nice to be able to see that somewhere.

Great job, it was fun to follow your development updates.

SATIATE! by Secretmapper 2018-12-22T14:24:05Z

First of, the sound effects were really well made. The grinder will give me nightmares :p

The gameplay was a bit confusing to me because I didn't understand how to attract new people into my camp and yet I needed food so I sacrificed all the workers but no more came. Some sort of tutorial would be very nice to have as you stated in the description.

The controls were interesting because instead of a traditional RTS game you actually played in the game as a character and you felt more responsible when killing people for food than you would have if you had implemented the standard box selection system.

Well made game with a lot of content.

Oath of Balance by pickens-inc 2018-12-25T22:02:00Z

Wow, this game feels so polished. The graphics were cool and the music and sound effects worked well in this type of game which gave a special atmosphere.

The controls felt nice but you didn't have any options to your attacks. Simply holding the shield up and slashing away at your enemies was all you had to do. Maybe having a stamina bar where you lose stamina for attacking or blocking attacks would be useful here so you have to be tactical.

Overall a fun game which has a obvious connection to the theme. Introducing a more in-depth combat system would make this into a very playable game.

Well, looks like America will live a little bit longer.

I really like games that have an important message to tell about the world in an interactive way.

The gameplay is fun because you have to think about not overdoing anything, I was very close to running out of money but managed to save it. I guess that rewards are usually better than punishments.

Great job!

We Were 5 by Samusoidal 2018-12-25T14:14:03Z

Well, I did play through the game and the story was interesting enough for me to think about the game afterwards. Quite the immersive experience, it felt like I had an impact when choosing which character I sacrificed and I figured I should keep Kevin alive to be able to transcribe the runes.

However, I was confused why I lost because I did get through the central gate and met the Beast and tried to take a photograph. My only reamining options was to sacrifice everyone, it seemed impossible to avoid sacrificing yourself so that's what I did and then the game ended and restarted. I guess I might try to explore a few other options and see if your actions actually matter :p

Good effort on this game, with a few more options and maybe a voice reading the story I think this would be a great game.

**EDIT**: I did play through a few other scenarios and always got the same outcome, even though I managed to keep all 5 of the explorers alive.

Defuse by Andrew Garcia 2018-12-24T11:41:05Z

Wow, this game was quite different. The difficulty scale was well balanced for a game made in 48 hours. Although the manual was a bit difficult to read and understand but I guess that's the point.

The idea is perfect for a game jam but after playing a few playthroughs I'm sure the manual would be useless unless you had implemented some random variation to the rules such as the patterns or number of consecutive flashes.

It was an enjoyable experience because I really had to focus to be able to memorize the instructions, this was enhanced by the beautiful music and quite simple but cool looking pixel art.

Great job on this game

Slime Patrol by GroverTheGrovekeeper 2018-12-25T15:18:40Z

Well done on the game concept. As others have said, the levels were unneccesarily long and the game experience took an impact when you died and had to restart all the way from the beginning.

I think that the rockets should not collide with the bullets from the enemies because they were not very useful because of their speed, you were not able to easily launch a rocket and then move away so the enemies wouldn't hit the rocket.

The game concept is working and you have some variation in the levels and enemies but the gameplay is pretty much the same, good job overall.

Samurai's Legacy by Simone 2018-12-22T14:12:57Z

Good game with a nice take on the theme. It was a bit glitchy sometimes and there was no way to reload the game if you got stuck which would help if you sacrificed yourself at the wrong position.

The puzzles were interesting and the arrows were helpful but the collision detection felt off sometimes because it was hard to jump over the other dead samurais.

Well made, music was good but you could have mixed in some more sound effects. Good job!

VOID_SHOT by NNNIKKI 2018-12-26T15:52:52Z

Cool game, which was a bit too difficult for a Ludum Dare game I think. It would have been a lot easier if your movement was independent of your aiming so you can move with your keyboard and aim with the mouse to shoot down enemies.

Maybe introducing some sort of dash attack/move so you can escape from the enemies easier, this could use up more ammo as a "sacrifice".

I like the concept and how it connects to the theme, good job.

Oblation by Keppu 2018-12-24T13:04:07Z

Simple gameplay and the visual effects were really nice which encouraged me to continue playing. The sound effects were not as satisfying because they didn't really fit in with the relaxing feel of the gameplay and music.

The art was excellent and was full of detail. Good job!

Volcano Island by Arvejeitor 2018-12-24T12:58:38Z

Fun game with a lot of polish, it could have been replaced with a game where you click on a sequence of numbers on your keypad and it would have been the same game but without any sort of atmosphere or element of sacrifice. Great example on how important polishing is because I played the game for much longer than I would have had otherwise.

Great job!

Sacrifice Them by velvetlobster 2018-12-24T12:47:18Z

fun.png

It was a lot of fun sacrificing yourself but I didn't really understand how it was a negative thing to do apart from lagging more and more, because it gave me more money and time.

The music and sound effects were relaxing and the graphics were cool. I think that the game would be better with some more gameplay.

Good job!

Death Wish by Derek Volker 2018-12-24T14:39:12Z

Cool beat em up style game! The gameplay was fun and I like that you can dodge hits. Not sure if it is neccessary to have a button for picking up items, probably you could just have it so you pick up the items when you walk over them.

Also it would have been really cool if you could combine movement with fighting so you can do kicks to knock out multiple enemies simultaneously.

The theme here could have been used in other ways in the gameplay itself though. Great job overall!

Oh Those Bloody Angels! by DriagonV 2018-12-25T15:07:36Z

I tried the web version of the game and the concept works and it has a twist where you sacrifice followers to gain more ammunition which is different from simply collecting more ammunition.

What the game lacks I think is more sound effects and some more variation to your attacks. Maybe having different combos would give more gameplay. Still the game is playable and the concept can be expanded upon.

Good job overall!

Volcano Fling by Barrier 2018-12-24T12:25:31Z

Hilarious game, simple gameplay but the sound effects and physics of the villagers made the game quite enjoyable. An animation when the villagers are being thrown would be really cool to see. Good job!

Cheela by Shakedimus 2018-12-27T22:10:38Z

genetic.png

This concept was innovative and fun once I understood it. This main problem I had was there was little feedback on what was going on, which units had the most influence on the breeding? I think there would be more gameplay if you could choose to selectively breed units instead of it being seemingly random.

A tutorial on how to play the game would have been useful because I really had to read the description thoroughly before understanding what to do, leaving out the technical details in the beginning and just how to play would be better.

Good job on the implementation though, I did an RTS for LD41 and it is really a lot of work to do unit selection and formation correctly. I think the controls could have been better though, selecting with left mouse button and having it work as a cancel selection button would be better because now I tried to cancel my selection and moved all my units to an unwanted location.

Just delete them by Dock Frankenstein 2018-12-25T14:59:58Z

the.png

Well, the game said I could delete anything so I deleted everything and the game got stuck :p

It kept creating Level3 folder with no content and the NPC kept saying "Th" and then the level seemed to restart in an infinite loop.

Really interesting concept though, reminds me somewhat of Undertale where if you mess with the gamefiles you get different outcomes.

Needs a bit more polishing though I think because a few bugs are still present which is not a nice experience.

Good job and innovative concept.

Reactor Overdrive by JUSTCAMH 2018-12-24T12:00:27Z

Well made game with good attention to details. It's a game that has a lot of strategy to it, even some tactical gameplay as to where you should put the active tiles. It took a few tries of playing the game and reading the description and comments of the game.

The tips after each game was another example of the level of detail you put into the game. It was quite helpful and I did understand a few key points of the game after reading through some of the tips.

The UI could have been better because it was very confusing when I open up the menu which seemed to have paused my game but I still took damage, it would have been better to have integrated some hotkeys or HUD so you can always see the enemies attacking.

Not sure why but there was no audio for me even though I played the game for a while. Would have helped to know whether the game was running or paused but I still managed to get a good experience. Good job overall!

Goo Glow by Birdwards 2018-12-26T16:29:00Z

This game has a very fun concept. The levels were balanced well and it was fun to try go as far as possible in the dark.

Some music would have been nice but it's not a requirement. It was also interesting to see that the velocity of the player had an effect on how much the slime spread.

Good gameplay with polished levels. Great job!

Chaos Shelter by Sockyman 2018-12-24T12:38:05Z

Interesting idea of resource management, it was a bit hard to keep track of the resources running out so maybe some visual or audio to inform the player. Also I didn't understand if one zombie can gather more than 1 resource or if I had to delegate as many zombies as resources of that type I wanted (e.g electricity could have 5/10 available).

The gameplay felt like I did contribute to the survival of the villagers but on the other hand if I didn't do anything except press space I survived longer than when I tried to interact so the difficulty seemed to scale with the amount of actions you do. I guess it adds a level of depth to the gameplay but I didn't understand how and when the difficulty increased.

Also the random events were cool and made the game much more interesting. Overall great work!

Air Rider by Hawkie 2018-12-24T12:17:15Z

Cool game with interesting and unique gameplay. It was fun experimenting with different speeds to see which ones worked well to gain distance.

The theme was used in an interesting way here since there was seemingly no bad effects of sacrificing your passengers, it was only helpful because you would get further. Perhaps some penalty for sacrificing the passengers could be introduced but I guess gameplay wise there could have been a bit more depth to compensate for this as well.

Great job overall!

Drunken Devil by shulgaboy 2018-12-25T14:35:48Z

Well, interesting controls haha. Super hard to be consistent though, I never figured out a strategy to stay alive for longer than 30 seconds.

The gameplay was very simple but in this game I think it became more interesting because of the controls but I did not see the connection to the theme.

Overall good job, a fun dexterity challenge.

Lastcrifices by Cerebral Bore 2018-12-26T16:02:29Z

I had fun playing the game and I was a bit impatient because I didn't manage to complete all the levels. I think the difficulty is good but maybe having a checkpoint would be helpful so you don't have to restart at the slow part again.

The graphics and music was really cool. Simple sound effects but rewarding when you complete a level.

Good job!

I don't need legs!

Really nice animations, the mechanic is fun but the controls could be tweaked because I pressed space to jump and ended up with no legs and the enemies carried me wherever I wanted to go. Also I think movement should be independent of your aiming because now you can't really aim backwards to shoot the enemies or above/below you.

Good work, hope you can get further next Ludum Dare.

Quite addictive, I will come back later to try again. The scoreboard is a nice touch as well.

Money Bag Kidnapper by digitaldude555 2019-05-02T22:10:24Z

I certainly didn't expect the title to be so literal with the game xD

Good graphics and the animations do make the game feel better. It was a nice touch with the humourous scenes inbetween the minigames, it would have been even better with some voice acting.

I didn't really understand the point of pressing E and F and whatever, it seemed like just pressing F was enough? Maybe I had to reach the red point only once and press E followed by pressing F?

Cool story all in all.

I love games that makes you laugh, you seem to forget about time and the harsh reality of things when playing these kind of games. I see you have a thing for eggplants, I am curious what the story behind that is...

Great use of the theme and the references were clever, oh and svengelskan gör det så mycket bättre.

Journey Through the Blood Tribe Lands by Kornel 2019-05-02T08:54:09Z

Really fun game and the use of turn based strategy was well implemented. The most interesting aspect was trying to predict the movement/actions of the AI, you could estimate how far the enemies would move in a turn and use that to your advantage when using the dash&slash action.

The scenarios presented in the three levels didn't put up much of a challenge since the dash&slash action was really all you need. A few tweaks to the mechanics could have made the game more interesting and there could be a bit more strategy to the game.

All in all, it was enjoyable. Well done guys.

SpaceQuest by Simone 2019-04-29T19:27:25Z

Simple game with fun gameplay. It felt quite complete but as you say, some more polishing would have been useful to make a better gaming experience.

Good job!

Good job on this one.

LD46 — Keep it alive

Nightwatch by Neon 2020-04-25T16:03:49Z

I like the concept of course since I had a similar idea, I guess my game wasn't unique lol

The feel of the game is very nice and you used the audio assets very well to create a nice atmosphere. The diaries were quite humorous and made the gameplay more engaging. I also think this game would be really cool in VR, it's something I wanted to do but didn't have time, since you are using Unity it should be quite simple to add the SteamVR Unity Plugin.

It is quite simple to setup locomotion: https://unity3d.college/2017/05/16/steamvr-locomotion-teleportation-movement/

The gameplay was a bit simplistic and I didn't understand what to do when I couldn't find any more twigs.

A solid entry with beautiful graphics.

Keep Your Faith Alive by Geckoo1337 2020-04-25T13:11:00Z

So nice game, the puzzles were challenging and kept me trying to find tactics to deal with certain movements and corrections kind of like a rubik's cube but with multiple ones at once :D I know exactly what kind of corrections I need to do to solve the level but it's hard to keep the state of the other cubes when correcting.

As some others have stated, I think the game became a bit of trial and error instead of trying to find these procedures. However, that is fine because I think in the time span that most people play LD puzzle games, this is the common universal strategy.

I really enjoyed the art and music as well. It is very crucial to build an atmosphere that enables you to focus. Also enjoyed the quotes for each level.

Campfire by Linus 2020-04-25T14:36:39Z

@sockyman thanks for the feedback, I think that maybe the fuel meter was at 0 for a split second and then it jumped back to full during the gameover timeout (the lose condition was simply if the meter reaches 0 then restart game after 5 seconds regardless if the fire is revived). Horrible game design lol

Campfire by Linus 2020-04-25T15:49:56Z

@tea thanks for the genuine feedback. I didn't spend any time tweaking the feel of the controls or FOV which is unanimous feedback from most people here. Probably I got used to the controls etc. when developing the game and should have asked for more feedback during the jam

Campfire by Linus 2020-04-25T19:13:08Z

@kekkodude hmm, I didn't intentionally implement the "Poof back at it MAYN!" lose condition that you experienced but I didn't spend much time playtesting the game haha. Thanks for the feedback. I don't think I have created a single 3D game without wonky camera movements in ludum dare, I feel that's a core element to my games

Campfire by Linus 2020-04-25T22:04:04Z

@kekkodude LOL I did not at all intend for that to happen, the camera is indeed offset. I really regret spending so little effort on this game haha. I really enjoy the mechanics of the game, you introduced the concept well in the early levels. It is a hard balance to keep the levels challenging enough to be entertaining but not frustrating. Unfortunately in my case it was quite frustrating because the game was running extremely slow:

https://streamable.com/naz0b7

Level 1 & 2 was smooth and worked fine (however no user input required here :p)

I'm on windows 10 using a intel i5 processor so must be something else causing this problem.

Needy Slime in a cozy house. by digitaldude555 2020-04-25T14:01:30Z

Interesting idea but a lack of polish, it took me 5 minutes to figure out that I was the box and I could move around with ASWD. I think that the game would have been more intuitive if played like a point and click game.

The graphical animation of the box moving around with the slime etc. could be kept but I think that it is redundant to have movement controls and then use the mouse to interact with whatever is closest. I can't tell what exactly you were going for but maybe this was intended to add some extra challenge with the time? The collision detection was a bit awkward too which made it harder to move around.

All in all cool concept, if you decide to make a similar game in the future maybe focus on user feedback more :D

Timmy & Rock by KekkoDude 2020-04-25T22:13:58Z

"LIKE... COOOOOOL POWERS" haha hilarious. The game has solid core mechanics and the voice acting really kept me engaged for a while, would have been fun to add in some more of this later in the game .

I was hoping there was more to the game so I tried walking to the right and probably fell down the game world since the character disappeared when I tried going left again

Well done on coming back for LD once more, hope to see you in future jams.

Very cool concept, I like the idea of having indirect control, haven't really seen any other entries with this kind of concept so I think if you managed to actually make it into a game it would be fun. Good job on submitting something and I hope I will see in future jams seeing this one was your first

Cells by Gaming Night 2020-04-25T14:23:46Z

As I haven't heard enough about viruses already

I like this game, it has a nice atmosphere and solid gameplay. I like that I can take the time I need to plan ahead and manage my resources. At first I thought the blue resource (I don't remember the names) was the only resource I need to focus on in the beginning so each turn I created more of those organs, however I didn't realize the quick growth of the cost for each immunity level. It is well balanced for this short amount of time.

Nice that you had a tutorial, I appreciate games that has ones but I'm not very good at that myself. It wasn't obvious to me that I could create organs my left clicking and then selecting from the menu even after going through the tutorial.

Very nice entry overall, quite dynamic gameplay.

Captain Molly by Saering 2020-04-25T12:44:05Z

So wholesome :D

I am a big fan on the art style here. The gameplay isn't the most engaging but there are a lot of elements to make a game and I think that is why game development is so hard. I turned my volume up really loud because I thought there should be some sound effects but I only heard a super loud kitten meow haha. Honestly that sound effect wasn't that cute and since it was heard from anywhere it became hard to focus on the enemies.

I have to agree with Paul that checkpoints would have been nice since I'm not very good at these kinds of games and because there was no music/sounds it didn't make me feel engaged enough to try again. However, I played the post-jam version and enjoyed that a lot because of the dynamic music and SFX etc. Would have been fun to carry multiple kittens at once though to speedrun the game :p I managed to rescue all kittens in this version.

All in all a nice entry, didn't have an xbox controller and the stream controller I have didn't work with the game but oh well.

Game Jam Brain by PurpledArtFrog 2020-04-25T12:22:05Z

Awesome fun. I really like the element of focus + quality since that keeps the game engaging. I got place 295, although I think that is way better than my entry will actually be placed if I manage to get enough ratings...

I think the first level could have been a bit simpler and just explain that this is a tower defense game and what each part of the game did or atleast having some tooltips. It was a lot to take in when all the UI was shown at once without really having an explanation on what they did. I managed to figure out all of these things eventually but that took a lot of my focus in the beginning *pun intended*

Overwatch by rkhadder 2020-04-26T14:24:58Z

Pretty cool game with a little bit of a plot to make it more immersive. The mechanics worked well, however it wasn't obvious to me at first I could click on the security cameras to show the surrounding area.

I think the pathfinding mechanic is both good and bad, it makes the game a bit more challenging because it removes the ability to quickly react if you have been spotted and move to a cover spot. I think I would have preferred regular ASWD movement but I think you pulled it off quite well so not a major issue for me.

Good job on adding voice acting too, that is always fun.

Robotree by Kubeec 2020-04-25T15:28:55Z

Well done, I can't really say my game has a menu either just a button that sets Time.timeScale to 1 instead of 0 haha.

I like that the game had a bit of a story aswell, I think that instead of having the mouse click skip the dialogue completely it would have been nicer if it just skipped the animation so you could skim through it.

The gameplay is simple but works well, the graphics makes it more engaging.

Solid entry overall

Pet Sitter! by Sockyman 2020-04-25T14:53:28Z

Haha nice game, the game feels quite complete with events that keeps me engaged. It is quite hard indeed as others have said because of the happiness system, just like real life.

The tutorial should be mandatory for all games though I suck at it too. Even having screenshots in the beginning of the game with text dialogs for each of the game components would help a lot I think.

Nice game overall, I have never been too good with tamagotchi games though.

A 90s Game! by John Snyder 2020-04-26T13:26:34Z

Quite a nice game with the core elements working well. I did enjoy the graphics and the "explosion" effect was humorous too, it is always more satisfying when something changes on screen when interacting with something.

The music was nice to make the game a bit more engaging but some SFX would have made it a lot better I think. Finally the biggest problem I had was the slow difficulty curve and lack of variation in gameplay, I lost intentionally because it was too easy so maybe tweaking that a bit would be nice. Of course it is always better to have an easy game rather than a difficult one in Ludum Dare since most people don't bother playing the game for very long if it's too hard.

Overall a nice wholesome entry.

Breaking Egg by Mulberg 2020-04-26T13:47:02Z

That was a lot of fun actually, and I think the game difficulty was perfect for a LD entry. Usually I find myself not wanting to retry if I fail a level in LD games, however since I really enjoyed the odd movement of the egg and the health system I gave it another try and was able to complete the level

The main issue is as others have pointed out there is no way to know if you should wait for a platform or do a leap of faith in the end of the second level. Having some indication even a sign telling you to jump would make it more clear.

I would have liked there to be some more levels with more variety to the core gameplay but this is actually a decent start of a game.

ÁED - The Spark of Life by itsatony 2020-04-25T15:43:34Z

Cool atmosphere and fun gameplay with a lot of twists to the mechanics. I think that the game was fun and the different elements kept me engaged.

I understand the jumping was hard to implement because of the terrain but since this was such a core element to the game it was unfortunate it didn't work that well. The delay after you press spacebar makes it so much harder to time the jumps, it really should be instantaneous in platformer games. I hope you don't give up the idea and try to make it work for future games or maybe revisit this one.

Solid entry overall

Spider's Food by 8BitCharlie 2020-05-11T16:27:25Z

This was quite fun actually, it's like impossible game but without the "im". I feel like when I die it is my fault, which is a good thing since I feel in control. If you ever decide to code a web browser this would be the perfect game to include when you have no internet connection

Akula by Ilya_Nazarov 2020-04-25T14:32:15Z

Awesome that you can create engaging games with so simple controls. I think that having some different kinds of fish that increase speed and that the shark becomes bigger with time would have made for a very addicting game. It is kind of a combination of Flappy Bird and Hungry Shark Evolution.

The graphics were cool, music and sfx for player feedback would be a great addition but of course the time that you have in game jams are very limited.

Solid entry overall.

Feed The Fire by Nuanda79 2020-04-26T13:56:47Z

This was really well executed and you ended up with a nice game with some replay value too. I did find a bit of happiness playing this game

Also as others have said I sometimes didn't agree with you what would make the fire burn or not, I think aliens would actually be great fuel, just look at my game haha.

Simple game but I enjoyed it for some time.

Social Distancing For LadyBugs by mehrdadsh 2020-04-25T15:16:25Z

This is a prime example of taking a simple concept and really focusing on the polish for that core game element. It makes for a very fun and engaging game and it is super clear how to play it.

Also the way you have different kind of enemies is a nice touch even though I don't think they had any other behaviour.

Sometimes in the heat of the moment I smashed the lady bugs which made me facepalm.

Shapes by Finn_Tr 2020-04-26T14:14:38Z

Great game once I was able to figure out the game mechanics. Although this indeed took a lot of trial and error, I didn't realize I could combine the aiming with my double jumps to reach much greater distances. This is something that wasn't explained, maybe having a easier first obstacle to introduce the game mechanic would help because now it creates a bit of frustration when you can't even reach the second platform.

The art style was cool and looked beautiful, however it was also somewhat hard to know what was part of the level and what was just the background.

All in all a nice entry which could be further worked on to make it even cooler.

J'ai Froid by Delapaix 2020-04-25T15:07:04Z

I like this game a lot! It is exactly the kind of game I tried to create (but failed)..

I didn't understand why the twigs wouldn't come off the trees sometimes, only one of them came off and at times they launched into the sky or disappeared (one of the number 1 most common bugs in ld games it seems). Also I think it would be cooler if the whole tree was chopped down so it would be more visual which of the trees had already been used.

The art and audio creates a nice atmosphere and makes the gameplay more engaging, it is however very simplistic and I think you could have added some other element like enemies or food collection.

Nice entry overall.

Prism of Science by DubDisk 2020-04-26T14:04:38Z

Actually quite a fun game with very nice player feedback, I liked that most interactions have sound and explosion effects, that makes the game a lot more engaging and made me retry the level if I failed.

The enemies didn't have any health bar or indication if they were dead, I felt that sometimes the corpse was left and I couldn't eat it or something but it was a bit hard to notice since they didn't really stand out from the background.

Some more work on the movement would be nice to get a better feel of the game but that is something I have struggled with every single Ludum Dare. Different people have different preferences when it comes to sensitivity and floatyness etc.

Well done overall!

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Build The Road Jack by badpaul34 2018-04-24T22:28:14Z

What a fun concept and interesting ues of the theme! The amount of content was really impressive and the game worked well with no game breaking bugs

The concept of essence was not very clear to me though, I didn't understand what it was or how it worked so maybe that could have been explained more clearly.

The controls worked good for the most part, the car was easy to steer and I really like that you can drive on all sides of the road. The only thing that I didn't like about the controls were that you had to hold the left or right arrow key to select which track piece to build, but it just takes some getting used to.

There wasn't any music in the game which could have been added (atleast for the build mode) instead of the loud sound effect for the motor. It was somewhat annoying to hear that during the building phase.

All in all a very cool entry and really impressive. Well done!

Build The Road Jack by badpaul34 2018-04-25T10:21:44Z

@Tomavatars yes, I did play in the web browser on Firefox. I checked the downloadable version just now and the music worked fine there. I like the fast phase of it and it adds to the game. What confused me was that the default graphics quality setting was "very low" and so I changed it to a bit higher because I thought my computer could handle that, but then the game was super low FPS. I would suggest changing the graphics quality name for "Very low" to "Fast" or "Default".

Cool game though.

ULTROÏD by Geckoo1337 2018-04-28T17:03:08Z

I really liked this game! It felt so polished and the music and graphics was excellent. It could have been more connected to the theme instead of simply limiting the amount of bounces. Maybe having some other mechanic like adding to the amount of bounces everytime you catch one with your paddle could work.

The gameplay by itself was very nice and I got stuck in this game for quite some time, the first 3 levels were quite easy and level 4 and 5 was very difficult. Well balanced. It made for a very nice mood.

This could definitely become a mobile game with a few more levels. Excellent job!

MechaSnek by bluescrn 2018-04-27T12:44:15Z

Wow, amazing game. The amount of work put into the visuals is very impressive. The game felt very polished.

The pipes and objects on the ground were a bit confusing because I wasn't sure if I was allowed to run into them so maybe the obstacles could be outlined in some way.

When destroying the enemies I kind of wish that the coins landed on the same tile so it would be easy to predict where it lands.

Apart from those minor things this game was one of the best ones I have played so far in this Ludum Dare. Really well done!

Age of Pacman by Linus 2018-04-25T21:21:57Z

@el-pepi thanks for playing my game, strange that it doesn't work on mac, can you post a screenshot?

@ElusiveMilestone thanks for playing! It was hard to balance the game so it isn't too hard in the beginning but the game becomes hard very quickly after the 2 minute mark.

Age of Pacman by Linus 2018-04-25T21:26:39Z

@HPMNK thanks for the great feedback. I agree that I didn't make full use of the theme but I interpreted it in the sense that the two genres could define the game mechanics but also the art and music. I will check out your game for sure.

@Lerg that's unfortunate, can you tell me about your hardware so I can maybe fix this issue? Thanks!

Age of Pacman by Linus 2018-04-25T21:28:04Z

@el-pepi thanks for the screenshot, I will try to fix this issue. Can you tell me about your hardware more specifically? I'm not sure if Mac supports DX11.

Age of Pacman by Linus 2018-04-25T21:38:20Z

@JohnnyR thanks for the feedback, more is better than less :grinning:

@silkworm_sweatshop thanks for the constructive feedback. I'm hoping to make an improved version of this game with more mechanics and other towers + upgrades but a lot of the focus went into the unit selection mechanic and formation. Also, the "wakka wakka" sound effect would be really fun to have

Age of Pacman by Linus 2018-04-26T16:39:14Z

@Lerg @el-pepi thanks for the valuable information. I have now fixed this issue and the game should work fine on MacOS

Age of Pacman by Linus 2018-04-28T18:57:23Z

@TomekS @Re-Markable @Geckoo1337 thanks for the constructive feedback. I will keep this in mind if I decide to update this game!

@Jin9310 thanks for playing. Really glad that you liked the idea, I hope to update the game with new features and maybe create a full RTS someday

Age of Pacman by Linus 2018-04-29T09:54:30Z

@HuvaaKoodia thanks for the constructive feedback. Having hotkeys for the groups was something I planned to implement but a few of my "playtesters" thought that would make the game too easy, but that was before I balanced the game.

Double clicking on groups on the minimap should probably have been part of the game though. I'll keep these things in mind if I decide to make a full RTS game based on this.

Thanks for the game recommendation, I'll check out Darwinia and Multiwinia.

Good job taking the first place on the leaderboard by the way

Age of Pacman by Linus 2018-04-30T09:45:00Z

@Elsiana Eaves @xoidberg thanks for the feedback

@vkmicro it seems that the token for the HTML5 expires and there is no permalink, so accessing the game via gamejolt is probably the only way. Glad you liked the game, thanks for the feedback!

Drawing a selection box when dragging was something I wanted to implement but kept procastinating it so it never happen, it will be the first thing I will implement if I make a post-jam version of this game

Age of Pacman by Linus 2018-04-30T13:56:49Z

@gonutz thanks for the constructive feedback! I wish I took the time to implement the selection box but you know Ludum Dare, it is hard to do all the things you planned

Anyway, thanks for the tips. I will keep those things in mind if I do a post-jam version of this game.

That Which Cannot Be Contained by HuvaaKoodia 2018-04-27T14:09:02Z

Unique concept and interesting gameplay. The controls were somewhat confusing because I didn't understand how to grab blocks, I would hold spacebar next to some block and another one from somewhere else on the screen would move towards me. Maybe that was because I tried aiming with the mouse instead of arrow keys, using the mouse feels more intuitive.

I also didn't understand how to destroy enemies, I tried shooting blocks at them but that didn't do anything. Do the different blocks have different abilities?

The description said something about placing blocks adjacent to each other to create explosions but because I didn't understand how grabbing worked I never managed to do this.

The graphics were cute and I liked the music, I just think that if the controls were better explained I would enjoy this game a lot more.

Overall though, pretty solid entry that deserves more ratings. Good job!

That Which Cannot Be Contained by HuvaaKoodia 2018-04-28T16:28:30Z

@HuvaaKoodia Updating the description helped a lot. I got to play proper this time around with more :boom: and had much more fun. Still a very difficult game

The controls took some getting used to but I learned to take advantage of the mechanic to grab blocks from a far distance.

I just wish that the blue blocks would do something else than just being in the way and as shields. Nice work on this game, I think that the difficulty and controls could be tweaked

Here is my game if you want to take a look: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/$74082

Snakeout by BoltKey 2018-04-23T17:22:43Z

Very creative game and a lot of fun. The arcade gamemode with all the upgrades added a lot to the game. It reminds me of "Achtung, die kurve!" but with the twist of the ping pong game mechanics. I had a lot of fun trying to develop techniques to best play the game.

The sound effects were great but in my opinion did not "match" the art of the game, or rather the art could have been improved to not look as primitive and maybe look more arcade-ish. I think the colours could be changed and that would significantly improve the look of the game.

I understand that it's not easy for everyone to create music but I really appreciate when the game is not completely silent. I would suggest using a tool such as [Abundant Music](https://pernyblom.github.io/abundant-music/index.html) or [Jukedeck](https://www.jukedeck.com) and create music with the power of AI :)

The leaderboard was a nice feature and it adds a lot to this kind of game. Well done!

Ballermann III: The Expendabuilds by xoidberg 2018-04-30T14:34:22Z

This was actually a lot of fun! A very interesting twist to tetris, but I miss the ability to rotate blocks. If you could rotate blocks it would encourage the player to use all the blocks available. Still the gameplay was unique and made for interesting mechanics.

The graphics and music was very nice, it created a cool atmosphere. Because of the clear visuals the game was quite easy to understand after a while, though as others have said, it was somewhat overwhelming to be put into the game without some instructions or guidelines.

Overall, cool and fun game. Great job!

RTHM by fashionbatman 2018-04-27T11:46:54Z

Fun game and it becomes quite addictive. Had fun playing it!

It was quite difficult becaues it was hard to press spacebar at the correct time but I am also quite bad at rhytm games so it might just be that. Having a way to select difficulty would be nice though or maybe have the difficulty be lower in the beginning and get harder with time.

The art and music by itself was very good though. Glad I got around to play this game.

Harvest Rune by TheMonsterFromTheDeep 2018-04-27T12:34:08Z

Well you managed to create Stardew Valley in 48 hours.

I liked all the mechanics and the game felt quite polished. The amount of content was impressive. The use of the theme was really cool. Some things were not very clear in the game but I read the description of your game which definitely helped.

I didn't understand how to interact with the scientist though. I assume the tutorial was complete because no text was displayed and I went to bed. The game said I had to talk to the scientist but I could only purchase things from him, maybe that's all I had to do.

Also having some way to set the volume of the music would be nice.

Overall really cool game and had fun playing around with all the mechanics. Great job!

Tetra Dungeon by el-pepi 2018-04-26T22:31:48Z

Fun game with a very nice twist to tetris. I'm not very good at placing the bricks but I had fun playing around with all the mechanics which worked very well.

I had an issue though when I cleared the first line of bricks, the game stopped. No more bricks appeared and the hero disappeared. Maybe it's a bug with the web version of the game?

Cool game and well balanced!

Huber Driver by ema1ih 2018-04-30T14:58:54Z

This game has an interesting concept. I enjoyed the exploration part, it took a while to find where stuff were located and the phone was a bit buggy.

The car AI was not very smart because it would just drive right into you and give you a fine. Also, it was very confusing when I picked up a customer, because I had no idea where the destination was. I drove around trying to find where to drop off the customer but I had no idea and then they left because it took too long. Maybe having a GPS or something on the phone would work, not sure if the minimap gives any details about the destination but it was hard to see, even in fullscreen.

Still, this idea has potential. Good job

No-Brain Jogging by gonutz 2018-04-27T14:44:05Z

How dare you make math fun you monster!

Using the math mechanic + shooter was a nice use of the theme. It was fun to play and the graphics were simple but cool. The animation when dying was quite humourous.

I let some of my friends try the game and even though they hate math they really enjoyed this game. Very well done!

Super Balls Defense Base Craft by radmars 2018-04-27T13:55:52Z

Very fun game, this game deserves more ratings. It was a lot of fun trying to multitask and build up towers. As others have said I didn't really know the difference between the towers and just built whichever I could afford

The pinball game mechanic worked well for the most part but sometimes when launching a ball it would bounce back and with a super high velocity and right into the void which felt a bit unfair but at the same time could be avoided with better timing I guess.

Overall a really good entry. Glad I got around to playing this game.

Similize the Savages by silkworm_sweatshop 2018-04-27T11:37:13Z

This was a very fun city simulation game with a cool twist. I really like the fact that you advance in ages and need to balance the industrial, commercial and scholar buildings.

I think you could have taken the theme a bit further because the savages only appeared in the very beginning so maybe there could have been some more savages later on in the game but with different appareance.

Poor citizens got killed in the end by the robot but that gave me a good laugh. Great game overall!

Slide or Die by Zeriver 2018-04-26T22:13:27Z

Cool shooter game, there was a lot of stuff going on but after a while I got the hang of it. Then I enjoyed playing it!

The slow-motion ability was a lot of fun. It works well in this game and adds a lot to the overall feel.

There are some things I would like to be changed or explained better. I wish the enemies were another colour so it is easier to see them compared to the background. Maybe green if the background is red.

I was a bit confused when I regained the slow-motion ability, it said I need to "jump" to regain this ability, but I didn't fully understand how that works.

Pretty solid entry though, had fun!

Tennis Defense by kassanu 2018-04-30T15:06:47Z

Fun game, with interesting controls. It was pretty hard to hit the zombies on the sides, because aiming with the paddle was very hard. Maybe having some visualisation on how you were aiming could help.

The sound effects were humourous and I like the phase of the game, having some music would be nice. I like the use of the theme in this game, certainly an incompatible mix but you got a cool mechanic from it.

Overall, good job. The game needs some polish but the core mechanics are there

A Tale of Comedy and Tragedy by jelch 2018-04-29T09:42:31Z

I like the idea of combining two themes in another way than simply combining two mechanics from two incompatible genres. It worked quite good in this game, but everything was so small it was hard to focus on the text.

The dialog was interesting but I accidently skipped through some of it because I pressed x right after the dialog appeared.

All the puzzle mechanics worked really good and I liked that the puzzles changed a lot with time. Good gameplay.

Cool game overall, and very good effort.

The Fat Man and the Sea by Samusoidal 2018-04-28T16:42:39Z

That was a pretty unique mix of genres! I like the simple art which creates a peculiar setting for a peculiar type of game.

The controls were easy to understand once you read the instructions (which had some minor spelling and grammar mistakes by the way). The controls could have been visible at the same time as playing to make it even easier but it was not a problem for me.

The sound effects created with your voice was humorous and well made. The gameplay was interesting but somewhat hard because you had a very small area to work with, sometimes it was hard to catch the fish that you wanted to catch.

Overall a very cool game, fun to play. Good job!

FPS - Fugly Puzzle Shooter by Fedor 2018-04-30T15:16:00Z

Fun mechanics and nice puzzles. The game is quite bare-bones. Having some background music would greatly increase the overall feel of the game and some more interesting colours. The game was kind of plain to look at.

As far as the controls, it felt like controlling a car in a racing game. It was not clear which way was forward and I would have liked if the game used the forward/backward and strafe left/right controls.

Overall, cool entry with fun mechanics. Polishing it up a bit would have made for a better experience

Kinbaku by vkmicro 2018-04-30T15:38:48Z

This game was very fun. I enjoyed it a lot and I think you managed to balance the difficulty quite well. Maybe having multiple options for different difficulties in the menu would be an idea, but hard to be able to pull that off with so little time.

The gameplay was quite straight forward, but I really wanted to climb up on platforms and be able to jump off them to other ropes. That would be a very nice mechanic to have. Although maybe it was a deliberate choice because of technical details or difficulty balance of the game.

Overall, really well made game. I enjoyed playing around with all the different game mechanics

Unbelievabubble by maximebugman 2018-04-24T22:15:27Z

Cool game with a neat concept. The game told a funny story and the art was really good and reminds me a lot of "Don't Starve". I think that's because this game shares a lot of the style with that game.

Controls were good and worked well, however I wish that when you shoot the bubbles they would stick to the spot that you aim for no matter where you point with your cursor because I would miss quite a few because of this.

The gameplay was really straightforward because the presentation was well done, however the grey bubbles could have been more clear as to what they do because I didn't realize they fell into the empty slots below and tried to shoot on those slots with my bubbles until I understood this mechanic.

All in all, a solid entry and really cool art.

StarClick: RTS + Clicker by Lerg 2018-04-25T21:34:04Z

I had a lot of fun playing the game and I really like strategy games and appreciate the effort in jam games.

Good graphics and concept. Pretty innovative to combine a game like cookie clicker with an RTS. Although I didn't understand at first that you have to click to gather resources.

Another issue I had was that when I created a tower from the heavy factory it spawned on the left side of the building which was blocked off and so I couldn't use my tower. Having some way to delete buildings or making sure units don't spawn in blocked off areas would be good.

Great game with a nice polish

DragTypist by Slashee the Cow 2018-04-27T13:20:24Z

Very cool game. I think the difficulty was well balanced. Sometimes it felt like the letters changed two times instead of one, not sure if that's just something I imagined or something weird happend. Maybe it was I missed the streak or something.

I like the pixelart and the tutorial was good and helped me understand the game. Adding a scoreboard would be pretty cool too.

Overall very cool entry, glad I got around to playing it.

Build'em All ! by tenshi42 2018-04-27T12:07:09Z

Cool game, I enjoyed playing it. It reminds me a bit of an RTS. I didn't understand the point with the city building except to get health back.

There are a few things that could be improved to make the feel better to play. The hotkeys to build stuff is good but you should definitely be able to build with your mouse as well. The planet physics is impressive and you did that very nice.

Also I wish that the money dropped from enemies would have a bigger "pickup" radius so that you didn't have to fly directly on the pickups to get them.

Overall, pretty nice entry!

YOU LEFT ME. by Angela He 2018-04-29T09:26:17Z

That was a very unique experience. I don't usually play any Visual Novels apart from your games for Ludum Dare

This one was very well made. The graphics, the music and the mood made for an incredible experience. The gameplay was good but didn't feel very interactive in the sense that I could basically just spam click through the dialog to get to the ending. However, I did notice that the notes on the fridge were connected with the ending I got, I visited the graveyard which I recalled from the notes. So picking up clues was a good way to make the game more interactive.

Overall, one of the best games I've played this Ludum Dare. Excellent job!

Carchery by Stefan Richings 2018-05-02T21:33:19Z

I'm really glad I found this game by randomly scrolling through the games list and then I saw the name "Carchery" and I just had to play it. Brilliant concept, haha.

The difficulty was quite well balanced I think. I developed a pretty good strategy to hit the middle. Sometimes the car rotated so I would hit with the side of the car and not the front, I think it's fair that you don't get points if you don't hit with the front of the car.

I had a lot of fun with this, the mechanics worked good and it's one of the most unique games I've seen in this Ludum Dare. Great job!

ACCIDENTAL EXISTENTIAL by slovnoslomo 2018-04-29T12:38:23Z

What others have already said sums up my experience of this game, that games are the ultimate form of art. A game combines story telling with visuals, sounds and mood. You did an excellent job of using these elements to create a very unique, memorable and relatable experience connected to the theme in a really interesting and innovative way.

It took me a while to see the key next to the door on the third story but that only enhanced my experience because I felt more and more stressed because of the crying baby...

One of the best and most unique game I've played in this Ludum Dare. Very impressive

Scarry by Memel06 2018-04-30T14:45:30Z

That was brilliant! Very innovative concept to use the microphone in a LD jam. I had a fun conversation when playing this game, hehe. When the monster truck appeared, I would actually scream to use the turbo and that was quite humourous.

Fun game, although it was hard to find the cookies. The graphics were cool but it was hard to see what everything was, but that just added to the mystery of the game.

Overall, really cool and innovative game. Great job

Blocks'N'Blaster by HPMNK 2018-04-27T11:05:45Z

What a cool idea, the concept was really fun and I enjoyed playing around with all the game mechanics. It really is quite difficult to have all these things in mind when playing the game. I really like the powerups that you have added so it is not plain tetris.

The controls took some getting used to, they could have been more intuitive. I liked that holding down the jump button for longer gave greater air time but it was quite hard to control in order to be aligned with the tetris blocks so that you can shoot. I think that by pressing spacebar once quickly you should get a bit more airtime because right now you fall down very quickly.

Another thing that I didn't understand was the diagonal shooting. I didn't understand when that happend and how to trigger it. I think that it would have been better to simply shoot straight at all times.

Overall very impressive game. Fun to play and with a bit of polish on the controls I really would like to see a post-jam version of this game.

Jing & Jang delivery Co. by Sanguis 2018-04-28T19:05:00Z

That was a nice and fun game! I enjoyed the "switching" mechanic between the workers once I understood it but it confused me quite a bit in the beginning. Since there are no real consequences of dying, I don't really feel stressed but I could certainly see how this game could create a lot of stress (and frustration :p) if you lost progress when dying.

The art was really cool and I liked the isometric style. The game was quite humorous too. Well done!

Overall, cool game. It was fun to play.

Card Cave Adventures by Swen 2018-04-27T14:22:14Z

Very cool game, interesting mechanics and nice pixelart. The game was quite self-explanatory once you got the hang of it but I didn't see the player at first, I thought the hat was a rock

The mechanics were fun to play around with and the stamina limit forced you to be strategic about how to play the cards and in what order.

Cool game and well implemented mechanics.

Carmagotchi by Re-Markable 2018-04-27T12:16:46Z

Interesting mix of genres, although I think that the game could have used the genres more. Instead of having to wait for such a long time for the car to refuel, there should have been something to do whilst refueling the car.

The controls were simple and easy which is a good thing. I really liked the humoristic Acapella music you created

Overall cool idea and fun implementation but there are a couple of things that could be improved!

Move and Hide by Hizrok 2018-04-29T12:24:10Z

Well done for your first Ludum Dare entry. I like that you have to think about every step you take, it makes for a interesting puzzle game. Turn-based + stealth is not incompatible but it makes for unexpected behaviour which is what this theme is all about.

Level design could be improved but they worked well to introduce the player to the mechanics. It took a few attempts to understand why I died and how to avoid it by hiding in the bush.

Overall, good effort and I hope to see you in the next Ludum Dare

Motorhell by Shelvid 2018-04-28T18:07:15Z

Awesome game! The graphics and music was very impressive, especially since you only worked on this for 1 day. Because of the pixelated look of everything it was quite hard to see the enemies far away. I think that the projectiles should have been a bit slower atleast to be able to perceive what's happening.

I also think that the enemies should have different health, the red and yellow enemies should probably be killed in one shot, atleast in the first arena. Because I felt the difficulty was too hard in the beginning, having it be increasingly more difficult would make the game more enjoyable I reckon.

The controls worked good and I really appreciate that you put in sensitivity controls. It was a bit confusing that the vehicle was independent of your aiming but I got used to that after a while.

Overall, really cool game! It was fun to play.

Super Slime Slasher Ultra by sebastianscaini 2018-04-30T14:10:37Z

Great game, it was a lot of fun! All the mechanics worked really well together and the game felt so polished with the voice acting and cute graphics.

The mouse control was somewhat weird because it feels like it was dependent on your movement, and not controlled freely. It made it a lot harder to aim because my aim changed without me doing anything other than moving around.

Very impressive that this was made in such a short time. I don't believe you would be able to add more features, but a leaderboard would have been nice to have.

Overall, very cute and polished game. I had a lot of fun playing this and I got stuck in the zone in this one

Ultimate Hero Simulator by antvelm 2018-04-30T14:21:14Z

Cool game once you understood all the mechanics! Very cool for a first LD jam. It was an interesting mix of genres, but it was somewhat hard to understand what was going on because there were no instructions in the game description. I understand that you have to feed the cat but I was confused whether you could also eat to heal.

The different types of enemies had different behaviour but this was something you had to discover by yourself, which was not always so easy because you also needed to figure out all the other mechanics at the same time. It took some getting used to, therefore having a tutorial or instructions would help a lot, but after a while I think I got the hang of it. Still, quite a difficult game but I did enjoy it.

Overall, well done game. Cool mix of genres

Golden Beak Golf by McCordinator 2018-04-24T22:43:35Z

Cool game with very easy controls

It's a mix between arcade and golf I guess which worked surprisingly well and made for quite a fun game. The one button idea was good because it was easy to figure out how to play the game but I didn't realize that you can turn into a bird while airborn at first. But it makes sense since the golfball is an egg.

The lift and power was a little confusing though because it didn't seem linear and was hard to know when to press to get the egg to fly low or high in order to get through the holes. An arrow pointing in the direction of travel would be easier or some way to see the path of the egg.

The style of the game was cool and pico-8 based games are usually a lot of fun. Nice choice for a game jam.

Good game and well done.

A journey of the block by TomekS 2018-04-27T13:08:41Z

Very unique concept. The art was amazing and the gameplay worked quite well. It was a bit hard because you needed to be very precise when building the blocks.

The style of the game made for a quite relaxing mood but sometimes that turned into frustration because of the difficulty of the game.

I encounterd a strange bug when I jumped onto a bridge and landed on the edge and was stuck and couldn't move or jump.

Overall very cool game. It felt very polished.

KEYBOARD WARRIOR by croewens 2018-04-27T10:30:00Z

Very fun game! Once I got the hang of all the mechanics it felt really polished and I liked the controls. Certainly a few things to have in your mind at the same time, not only do you need to focus on aiming and moving but also what type of ammo that is loaded.

Some sound effects and music would be really nice to have though. I like to use BFXR for sound effects and Jukedeck or Abundant Music. :musical_note:

Overall really nice game and I'm glad I got to play this game. Really well done!

MiniGame Racing by Deprecat 2018-04-30T15:25:35Z

Very difficult game, it was fun and I kept playing it but certainly felt frustrated because of all the popups

I feel that the turn radius a bit too big but the visual warnings were really nice so that you could avoid crashing into walls. The popups should probably have been easier to get rid of, like pressing a single key but they should have been more frequent and stack on each other as others have said.

The graphics were nothing special but they worked. Using some other colours would have been an easy way to make it look nicer and not so plain.

Overall, well done. It was a unique game and I had fun playing it

- Arc Boss - Sternum vs The DDDmension Faries by ElusiveMilestone 2018-04-27T10:43:59Z

I enjoyed the game and had a lot of fun! The 2D and 3D combination could have been used in a more intutive way I think, not sure how this would be accomplished though.

The music and sound effects were nice too. I like the simple controls and they worked well. I would have liked though if the player would do a "slash" attack striking upwards and then in front so that you could attack the invaders above aswell when jumping + slashing instead of dying.

Also having the ability to dropdown to the platforms below would have been nice in this type of game when the enemies come at a more rapid phase.

Overall very well implemented game and a lot of fun!

Don't Pet The Alien! by JohnnyR 2018-04-27T11:24:00Z

Fun idea, I really see how it could become a very cool game but right now there is not very much gameplay. Great music and sound effects too.

Witch's Escape by cristiano.m.garcia 2018-04-26T22:23:49Z

Nice game, the graphics were really good and the game felt quite polished because of that. The puzzle idea was interesting and you implemented it well.

As others have said, the game felt quite slow to begin with and you can very easily solve the puzzles by pressing all the buttons repeatedly. Having some punishment like having the player stop for a second or something like that would be better and force the player to think more.

Cool entry, well made game
