I gave it a few tries, but i didn't finish because the difficulty is way to high (for me at least). These mice are beasts! :worried:

But i like the graphics and i am interested to see more of the story!

sgadrat 2017-05-01 14:38

It is a little bit too hard for me ... Actually, rats kill me if I try to fight :s Maybe having lower cooldown on the strike or kill enemies in one shot may help.

I loved your sound effects though, and the rats hitting your grave after killing you :)

mutfak-studios 2017-05-01 14:46

@testlab and @sgadrat Oh yes, gameplay is hard. You get used to it after some play time then game gets pretty easy actually. I'm really sorry that you guys couldn't play the boss fight though :( I may try to lower the cooldoown of the rat attacks.

nilead 2017-05-01 14:50

Trigger areas for attacks could have a little more precision. It was a little hard.

mutfak-studios 2017-05-01 15:36

Okay, I made the game a little easier since everyone is commenting about its hardness.

fakefrogsonly 2017-05-01 15:54

Solid game! I found it really difficult though!

khorm 2017-05-01 16:08

Really nice game, Very polished feel loved the mapdesign and art - also good feeling on the physics the enemies had interesting behaviour altho I agree with other commenters that the initial difficulty curve was to steep. Could not really get a feel for the A/S keys to attack / interact, but that may be a personal thing- And I dont't know why the jar forced fullscreen in some wierd really wide resolution that my monitor complained about, that didn't matter much though :)

berkano 2017-05-01 16:09

Nice game  I got lost in the 2nd level and couldn't figure out where to go from there. Those rats are evil! It felt well balanced, being able to gain the hearts back. Would be nice to have some more variation in the backgrounds. The drip drip sound really added to the atmosphere. Nice job!

wolar 2017-05-01 16:13

I had troubles killing even the mice. Really liked the graphic style, animations and the music

davidthelazar 2017-05-01 16:14

Game was a little difficult, such that I preferred to just avoid fighting rather than try to fight, which made it a lot easier. I really liked the art style.

mde 2017-05-01 16:16

Cool game! Although the graphics and the level design are a bit repetitive, I liked your audio design. Try making shorter levels next time or include more tilesets/enemies.

mutfak-studios 2017-05-01 16:18

Thanks for the comments guys. Seeing these comments are making us feel excited :). I wonder if someone will be able to reach to boss and finish the game :') We are aware of that game design being repetitive and a little long for its content. It's because everyone in our team made one map for each and we just put it into the game.

kosmo 2017-05-01 16:44

Overall quite solid. Platformers are tough, but very rarely did I feel like the controls were being difficult. The audio was humorous and engaging. It started out difficult, but once I realized that you're pretty much invincible if you just hold down attack, then it made it a lot easier :)

I tried the boss a bunch of times, but the rocks falling from the ceiling come down with absolutely no chance of being able to avoid them. So it became completely up to chance, and I didn't get lucky enough.

Thanks!

teekeks 2017-05-01 16:48

Thats a hard platformer and the arrow keys made it even harder somehow. But overall solid game!

zarkonnen 2017-05-01 16:51

I like this one! It feels like a somewhat basic but very complete game, which is nice. The combat is hard, but that's not a bad thing.

Favourite bit: when you turn into a gravestone and your enemies continue to push you around.

nervous-composers 2017-05-01 18:22

I tried a couple of times to beat the game, but it's a little too hard for me. But from what I saw of the beginning, it looks promising! Reminds me of Wanderers of Ys III on SNES.

neato 2017-05-01 18:52

3 hits to kill a rat? What is this sword made of? :confounded:

toonteamj 2017-05-01 19:42

Very fun, although the controls are a little hard. Those rats are very hard to fight.

mutfak-studios 2017-05-01 19:51

C'mon guys those rats are obviously grandson of Master Splinter. That's why they are hard to beat.

swiftillusion 2017-05-02 14:43

Somehow I managed to win on the 15 or so attempt (hadn't even made it to the second screen attempts 1~10). Though nothing felt especially new, I felt the jumping was seriously solid and the resulting motion felt polished even as hard as the overall gameplay seemed (not being especially good at 'twitch-reflex' games didn't help). By the 12th attempt though it became a metagame of what mice I can just avoid and which ones I have to actually kill.

|+ Movement in general and the weight of your fall felt classic but much less clunky than many old games. |+ Enemy AI and general decisions regarding them (e.g. the bat always moving down in an arc first when targeting the player and going back to its perch if you went far enough, the mice being just short of most changes in terrain height). |+ Visuals while simple complimented each-other and the overall tone presented. |+ The audio of the cavern helped the atmosphere and hearing the initial music presented when you reached the boss gave an immediate sense of accomplishment/boost in morale. |+ The frequency of health drops from enemies and the checkpoints at each screen including the boss, which would have otherwise felt unjustly difficult. |+ The zoomed in experience with the boss battle was a nice touch that helped increase its impact and 'epicness'.

|- The level structure of the 3rd area/just before the boss felt a bit too open. While it added some variety the mechanic of the switches had me crossing my fingers hoping I'd randomly hit the right ones and was headed in the right direction. |- If the mouse felt more awkward/less dynamic to fight than the bat. |- The boulder indicators in the boss battle could have stood out more (initially just thought they were some graphic glitch as they appeared in the middle of the screen instead of the ground or ceiling-may have been a result of the resolution though as I also couldn't see my health)

I think if you had the mouse take only 2 hits but when it was hit it got knocked back further and would then leap above/towards your head it could have made those engagements more interesting and add a more consistent change of pace between just hitting switches and navigation. Then only have the bats drop hearts to give you more frequently an incentive to take a risk to attack them. That does however change the pace of gameplay so only an idea rather than critique. As a whole though the experience felt like the epitimy of a solid game, nothing special but it felt like it had heart so great work!

gurbx 2017-05-02 15:20

Looks really cool and plays well. I just couldn't get very far due to it being so difficult. Never got much longer than the first time you encounter bats. I think it's so difficult due to the enemies coming at you very fast and unpredictably, and your attack is kind of slow with a cooldown. I almost always took some damage when I encountered a enemy. Kind of annoying as I would have liked to see more of the game.

askania-m 2017-05-02 19:06

I tried so hard to run, but I never managed to get from those mice :D The game is complicated. Maybe more lives required. Besides, the graphics and all other staff is very cool:) Great job!

linus 2017-05-02 22:00

The game idea was interesting and I spent quite some time playing the game. The audio and music were really fitting to the game and the graphics style used also improved the overall game experience. For a ludum dare game it was somewhat too hard in my opinion, I did not manage to beat the game. I got really far and then I was killed by a rat or caught by surprise by a bat and had to start all over again which was frustrating.

I think that having checkpoints after those doors that you have to unlock would justify the difficulty level so that the player doesn't have to redo the whole level. Overall good job with the game!

superpokeunicorn 2017-05-04 01:48

This game is right up my alley. The swordplay is well done, and I like how you really need to time your attacks. That being said, I feel that there need to be one or two more enemy types and/or level mechanics in order to justify the number of levels. I had mastered everything the game has to offer long before I was allowed to face the final boss. The final boss is good as well. He is pretty tough with how fast those rocks fall, even with the indicators, but I eventually managed to defeat him.

In terms of the presentation, the visuals are pretty good, especially the main character and the final boss; they have great animations. The boss music is also good, though I think music would have worked better than ambient sound for the rest of the game as well. The sound effects were good, but got repetitive after a while. Overall, I'd say the presentation was good.

This is a really great entry that I had a lot of fun playing. It has some issues, but is overall a well made game.

kevtukk 2017-05-04 13:25

A really well made game. The swordplay feels good and needs some timing to get it right. Soundeffects are basic but work well. And while I had fun with it, I still think that it's a bit too hard (or maybe I'm just bad at it, that's entirely possible).

Nonetheless a cool and fun game. Good job!

@chromableedstudios Hey there! Thank you for checking out. I think there is a problem with Java. You can try uninstalling it and installing the latest version of Java from here: https://www.java.com
