LD38 — A Small World

Contamination by schizoid2k 2017-05-01T20:39:38Z

Really quite liked this, though it felt like after a while I kinda always got one powerup back for every time I used one, and there were way to many red spawning to kill them using the normal weapon anyway. Other than that the gameplay was solid and playing had a nice feel. Oh and I did not enjoy the dingdingding sound between levels, that got annoying fast.

Planet Wars by Smooth 2017-05-03T15:55:04Z

I think I kinda can see what you were going for here, the graphics are well... lets call it minimalistic :) I do think this idea can evolve into something cool and fun. But good try and keep going, and I agree that there's not too much missing for it to be a real playable prototype.

I Just Wanted Groceries by Jedeen 2017-05-02T18:20:14Z

Haha I love how avoid smalltak is a objective, right up my alley. Fun game that was a blast of freshness after playing 100 "run around a small planet" takes on the theme.

Exoman by Rother Games 2017-05-03T15:42:39Z

It's great to be the monster every now and then and I liked crushing the tiny people. I think I ran into some kind of bug where after the houses stopped I could go on for a long time and once in a while find a running little dude to kill. The music was strangley cheery while I was slaughtering whole towns but this was really quite fun to play.

The Aliens by Nnnnneeeedddd 2017-05-02T22:41:50Z

This was great fun, very nice upgrade scheme that made sense and made it fun to play a good while. I agree with steve that a bit bigger view would have been good, not enough time to see enemies and I resulted in just prefire and steering back and forth to not take any damage. Overall very good though!

Mallows World Adventure by geeitsomelaldy 2017-05-01T21:09:16Z

Really cool little adventure game, kinda reminded me of those oldschool games like monkey island and whatnot. Impressive level design and complexity for a compo game, agree to some people that it was quite hard to see what could be used and figure out where. Overall great experience.

Oh, and a tip: don't drop your diving gear while under water...

Final Front: Planetary Defence by coomzy 2017-05-02T22:56:54Z

I do like me some tower defence and this one was challenging, nice touch with the speedup and the very detailed stats at the end. Nice job!

Food Fight by nick.bota 2017-05-03T16:54:29Z

Did you really just build a multiplayer game for a 72hour game jam? Thats all kinds of crazy.

I really enjoyed the graphics and the singeplayer mode but it was so short! Could not find someone to try the multiplayer part with. Something feels a bit off with the gravity or something with the jumping that I cant really say exactly. I jumped around in the battle arena for a while and it felt like a cool gamemode. Props for doing a multiplayer game!

Attack of the Planetary-Vampires by Rolle 2017-05-01T16:51:39Z

Really solid game that has a polished feel, nice replayability with beating highscores - did get some kind of infinite spawning thing a bit in on one try. Love the graphics and nice effect with the paralax clouds, fits quite well with theme also!

Annulus by Zarkonnen 2017-05-01T19:51:51Z

Love the take on the theme and the cylindrical world, the controls felt wierd when upside down and I got stuck in some loop a few times that kept popping the same event over and over (like other commenters). Overall could be something quite nice if polished a bit. One of the games I would definetly like a post-compo version of.

(Web) The Small Worlds by lukethecoder64 2017-05-01T20:54:10Z

Really chill and enjoyable, I like physics game and this is a nice one. I completed all levels except 4 because I diden't seem to be able to start it, It was a bit too easy to shoot a planet out of orbit and the speedup with Q diden't seem to work. Other than that it was a nice experience.

Crunching Creatures by Evan Overly 2017-05-01T12:30:24Z

Could be really cool but missing some kind of goal, like you should try and keep a stable population of some creature with random natural events or something. Like the idea though!

Dwarf World by rnlf 2017-05-02T18:09:46Z

Wow, this game has a really cool art-style and the animations etc are spot on, LOVE how the dwarf first throws up the lantern before climbing up. Really well made tutorial at the start to give you all the mechanics. Puzzles are well made and really like the level design. Overall just really good.

Rift World by Lenon Kramer 2017-05-03T17:53:20Z

Some really sweet graphics on display here, I had some issued reading the black text due to contrast and I would really have liked to click the person I wanted to reassign instead of having to find it in the left sidebar(that I had problem reading anyway, maybe I'm just old). I do really like the idea and the execution + style is really nice. Also some sound to indicate different events would have been really helpful + made it a better experience. I did enjoy this and is one of the few entries I look forward to a postjam version, lots of potential.

Naarrow by Ace17 2017-05-01T11:43:37Z

What the game lacks in graphics it makes up for in map design and overall feel, it's very hard in some places, (the freaking yellow room with the moving platforms???) A very metroidy feeling game, some negatives for me was theres no momentum on the player so the movement dident have a organic feel to it and also hard to get up on ledges sometimes. Love the finding upgrades that improves your abilitys and mapdesign is really great for what little time is avalible, also music fit perfectly.

Commander's Log by smbe19 2017-05-01T15:53:46Z

Holy shit was writing a long detailed comment and accidentally hit back in browser... A more concise version to follow...

Stuff I liked: - Great voice narration and sound overall - Alot of gameplay, I don't even know how long I spent building my spacestation - Awesome somber feeling - Seems well balanced - Great story

Stuff I didn't like as much: - Could not get a response on the Radio? Is it possible? I scanned alot of times with the same response - Did not like the speedup buttons - Chrashed quite far in (Web version, screenshot of error)

2017-05-01 17_46_22-LD38.png

Overall great game and I will probably come back and play this more later.

SLINGSHOOT by chaoclypse 2017-05-01T18:04:52Z

Great polish and allround feel, nice concept and executed well. Theres not much to complain about here - maybe it is a bit easy and it feels like its lack of focus that gets you killed in the end. I like the progression of enemies and the big score numbers in the background was a nice touch.

Lalao by ysty 2017-05-01T12:16:40Z

This was great, altho I would mostly describe it as a interactive story or something? rather than a game. Great graphics and overall feeling.

GALAXEN by mrerdalural 2017-05-03T17:34:49Z

Right from the start with the dark music and cool menu this game have one of the best mood so far this Jam for me. The text is very well written and the game gives off a really consistent and awesome feeling. The vastness of the world vs the tiny you. Lovley background sprites that might have been IMO a bit to common - I'd like to really hone in on the "lonley" and vast feeling even more with a bit less happening in the background. On a few occations I managed to kinda glitch and stick to some of the smaller bodies. Probably only game this Jam that will recive max score on Mood for me. Great job overall!

The World Repeats by GameQuester 2017-05-01T19:05:51Z

Solid game and really polished, the menus was a bit tricky at first but became quite natural after a while. Looks and feel just very nice.

World of Echoes by multiplexor 2017-05-02T19:05:57Z

Whoa this was great, really cool mechanic and the overall polish is really nice. Could have kept playing for alot longer after it was over!

Yours by binaryferret 2017-05-01T10:56:08Z

sm.png

Really enjoyed looking at my tiny people running around for a while, obviusly missing some kind of later "objective" or something, but nice nonetheless!

The Earth is Flat by rin 2017-05-01T13:06:14Z

I like the idea that you are saving stuff to fall off the flat world with a big moveable wall, missing some kind of score or some indicator to measure how well I'm keeping the population alive, and (web version) for some reason the world was only located in the bottom left corner of the screen - and took quite a while to load. Pretty sure the idea could become a quite fun game. PS That music got the blood flowing :o)

PogoPogo by obvious-san 2017-05-02T18:50:22Z

Haha what a cool game, it has some real character and unique feeling. Had a fun time crowsrufing and trying to get all the people to dance and the art is just great.

Escape World by Haveachin 2017-04-23T23:55:59Z

Short but sweet.

Hamster, RUN! by theDoodleGuy 2017-05-01T16:20:29Z

Fun little game that scored high on the graphics and humour for me, I kept falling outside the level on map2 for some reason, (when dropping from up top) and sometimes I got "That was a nasty fall" when only falling like 1-2 blocks. The gameplay itself is puzzely - you have a limited time to get all the food and crawl into the hamsterhole? Hard to describe - but quite fun and really cute graphics!

Mind's Eye by Kosmo 2017-05-03T17:15:28Z

Really unique game that I havent seen before, there's definitely some stuff with the interface I was a bit confused about but others have already talked about that. The art is, well, lets say not my favourite this LD(who am I to talk really...) but still works pretty well with the game, the gameplay was maybe a tiny bit repetative but with uppgrading of abilities and enemies if felt quite nicley balanced, overall was a fun experience - and props for doing something different!

Kryp by Nahkala 2017-05-01T12:55:55Z

The growing of the screen was cool, and it was a really smooth experience, right up untill my ladybug got stuck on a leaf and 5 seconds later the game crashed :( Quite original idea and a real relaxing feel to it.

Colonize by JustinM 2017-05-02T10:41:08Z

I like the concept of a clicker game where you build up a colony, was missing some kind of threat or challenge built in. The art was great, would have been awesome to see a animation of a villager going out in the forest or something when you were cutting wood for example, oh and I could not figure out if talking to my villagers did anything?

Pollux by fatPenguin 2017-05-01T20:24:06Z

This was great, but left me wanting more, would have liked it longer and more uses for upgrades, I just about had time to build 2 volcanoes and a lake and then it was all over. The idea of upgrading your planet as game progresses is very fun and overall was a sweet play.

World Battles by Thinkofname 2017-05-02T17:57:20Z

Pretty cool shooter that plays really well, I really like the upgrading aspect I just wish maybe there was another weapon or something to get some strategy over placement etc, theres really quite alot of potential here.

A Giant Hitch by GenericToast 2017-05-01T16:33:18Z

Love the menu with really slick transitions and I can't really explain why but the grey simple blocky graphics was really appealing to me- it had some great polished touches with the windows shattering, clean phyics etc. And somehow it had a perfect representation of what a normal work-day sometimes feels like for me - some great humour splashed in.

Small World Smasher by howardcs 2017-05-02T19:22:31Z

- First reaction: meh I will probably not like this - Level 2: Naah this is kinda no fun - Level 3: Hmmm I can't stop playing - Level 4: GIVE ME A GREEN BALL COMON!!

Strangley addicting puzzlegame that looks kinda simple and boring at first but has some hidden depth and just kept getting more fun as I played it. Nice job!

Conquery - Conquer The World! by Tanay 2017-05-01T14:09:34Z

Nice little game! Seems quite balanced and had fun gameplay, would really have likes some more levels though!

A Rat's Story by stupidpawn 2017-05-02T18:40:32Z

Really different game that played well some nice touches with leaving all my smashed and burned corpses all over the ground for each try and a different sound when the evil stompy giants stepped on a vent. Short but fun!

Way Out by Mutfak Studios 2017-05-01T16:08:25Z

Really nice game, Very polished feel loved the mapdesign and art - also good feeling on the physics the enemies had interesting behaviour altho I agree with other commenters that the initial difficulty curve was to steep. Could not really get a feel for the A/S keys to attack / interact, but that may be a personal thing- And I dont't know why the jar forced fullscreen in some wierd really wide resolution that my monitor complained about, that didn't matter much though :)

It's square to be a cube by Khorm 2017-05-21T09:34:35Z

@sgstair Oh nice, thanks for playing, and I agree with pretty much everything you said. It's my first entry to LD and I just wasen't fast enough/had enough time to implement everything like I'd like - still was alot of fun! I pretty much made all the maps the last hour or so - could have been alot better...

Orbitunes by ColeSlaughter 2017-05-01T19:59:24Z

This was a nice change of pace, just throw some asteroids and create some tunes. No top score, no time limit - just chill.

The Final Earth by Florian van Strien 2017-05-03T16:23:17Z

Now this was great, everything felt really clean and polished, alot of tiny things that adds upp to a great experience, from the right click to deselect, popup information on all the GUI and overall interface- the tiny people running around. Obiusly sounds would do some good, agree with @gamepopper that some ambient sounds would fit pretty well I think.

Now the graphics, maybe not as "advanced" (Is high fidelity what I'm thinking of?) as alot of other entries but it has some real charm and fits the game really well. If I have to think of something I was missing I'd really like to scroll around and maybe zoom in on parts of the city - I realize thats hard to get to within timelimit.

The difficulty level was on the easy side also, some more challenge would have been nice - maybe some random events that could halter your progress or something- Overall very good entry!

Planet Rush: Save the Moiks! by FerNandXor 2017-05-01T12:45:46Z

Great game overall, some negatives I can think of is that it was a little hard to actually know what the different creatures do and after a while the gamleplay mostly resulted in running in a circle trying to BUY ALL THE THINGS. Still awesome nonetheless.

Compo or Bust by coderTrevor 2017-05-01T19:19:45Z

Hahaha jesus christ man that had me holding my guts laughing, what an awesome song. I also enjoyed exploding the feeble little people and dumping their bodyparts in the ocean. But spacefuel really isn't cheap so I guess my score is... let's say improvable.

2017-05-01 21_13_30-LemmeAntEm (32-bit, PCD3D_SM5).png

FUEL by KCreanor 2017-05-01T13:30:02Z

Well this was just great, this game has some really top notch things I like:

- Easy to learn hard to master - Very smooth controls - Replayabillity - saving top score per level - Great concept - Sweet menu with level selection

Only things that got a tiny bit annoying was the countdowntimer on harder levels - should really decrease it to like 1 second or perhaps make it skippable.

Frontrunner game for me so far.

Apophis by Urban Logic Games 2017-05-01T12:05:56Z

The visuals on this is just mindblowing, both menus and the actual game. Awesome feeling and the connection to the theme is just great in my opinion - it makes you think like yeah, our planet/world is just extremley small and it would not take that much "cosmically speaking" to just eraze it all... Some negatives I can think of is theres really no replay value, after I've saved the world once I really diden't feel like doing it again.

FREEDUMB! by Brothers Arcade 2017-05-03T19:23:58Z

Accidentally bombed lagos and apologized, read some tweets and liberated china, then jammed out to a metal version of Star-Spangled Banner, I dont know what more to say.

OUROBURROWS by huskitch 2017-05-01T17:08:44Z

I like the take on the theme and always enojoy being the monster once in a while :) Some nice polished feel but I don't know if my monitor is bad or what but it was quite hard to see, everything was dark and it felt like I was constantly in a fog or something. Would have loved some kind of progression or an indicator of how much you are eating (I guess the screen color somewhat represents that but) I could not find a wincondition either.

Tiny Hadron Collider by clegamecoop 2017-05-02T18:29:02Z

Would have like to test this out on a phone, but the game felt very clean and finished. Enjoyed the music and the difficulty scaling looked really spot on.

LD39 — Running out of Power

Wasteland Survivor by sawtan 2017-08-01T13:39:56Z

Nice! too bad you diden't have time for some sound they would really had lifted the experience some more. And damn those towers are powerfull...

Shipbuilder by Emil Sunesson 2017-08-01T18:11:09Z

The ship building was a really nice touch, the weapon with spread was a bit overpowered but you die in one shot so works out well. Sweet looking background and some nice particles in there! Cool game!

Hungry Harry's Climb by PBG 2017-07-31T13:36:35Z

Fun game! I dont know what this PICO thing is but really nice retro feel to the sounds and graphics. The generated levels felt balanced enough though some were quite a bit of randomness to how difficult they were, pretty sure one I got was unwinnable. The game felt really detailed and polished only thing I was missing was some enemies like you said. Overall great submission.

The safe zone by pmilian 2017-07-31T13:17:04Z

Really cool game, I like how the pixely graphics have some real character and it feels really detailed even though it's "low res". Gameplay feels fastpaced and pretty good balance, would have liked a way to get back some HP like finding a healthpack maybe, but I really like this first submission!

Space Fidget by nucleartide 2017-07-31T19:15:56Z

Hey, the game link seems to be 404 :(

LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

CARnage by Rolle 2017-12-01T19:12:47Z

Let's do it!!

Cat Clicker by Mr.MadCat 2017-12-08T15:00:20Z

Untitled.png

Well, that went about as well as expected. I do like me some "cookie clickers" sometimes, this was a unique spin on the concept. Felt like everything spiraled out of control a bit too fast, that could be the player partly to blame though...

Avarice by elitegoliath 2017-12-06T07:16:30Z

Cool little game, pretty clean graphics and some nice tunes. Was missing some sound though. Very nice feeling when you charge between alot of enemies. Fun game!

Money Making Miner by beanslasher 2017-12-06T07:12:40Z

Fun concept, like a 2d minecraft speedrun or something. The collision seems a bit off and it was a bit annoying sticking on things alot. But overall a nice experience!

Neon Hell by SirPumpyJam 2017-12-06T08:44:25Z

Wow, that was some stunning work with the background and overall feel. I don't know if it's missing some kind of framerate limiter because my game seems to run at about 4X times faster than the video posted in the comments? Which makes the gameplay experience too fast paced and way to hard to control, also WASD for stearing would have been great. That said, best looking game I've tried so far this LD! Great job.

LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

The Noble Asparagas by anderskristo 2018-12-05T17:57:35Z

The neon style with the backgrounds etc made it really enjoyable to look at and not at all annoying as I migh have thought at first. The twist on the basic endless runner is great and gives it almost a kind of guitar hero feel which I love. But one thing that was kind of negative where the randomness of the boxes, as some times you got up really fast in speed without alot of jumps and others it felt like you never got your color. Overall great submission!

LD45 — Start with nothing

Singularity by dob 2019-10-19T07:14:51Z

Really cool pussle game, got me interested right away and controls felt decently intuitive I thought. One issue was that you had to readjust the drag with the mouse alot but not a huge issue. Biggest downside I felt was that the later levels where more of a "try all the combinations that fits" instead of any thinking or figuring out anything. Also some levels semms to be a bit finicky on the angle and the visuals did not seem to align to the "stars?" perfectly so that just made it more difficult in an kindof annoying way. But thats kinda minor and expected in LDjams anyway this had me playing for more time than most games.

ApplicationFrameHost_LPLYNwlULQ.png

I did finish it and was a pleasant experience, good job!

Eventualities by Human Writes Code 2019-10-08T07:49:59Z

Cool idea and you really feel the passive aggressive radiating from the messages. This game score really high on innovation and mood for me and even though it might not be the typical game I normally like it was a cool experience!

Some negatives was the I found it a bit repetitive after a while, and there's maybe a bit lacking on the visuals even though the simplicity really do work.

But overall a nice submission!

Letterout by tohubohu 2019-10-09T08:35:52Z

Nice scrabble like game! Strangely addicting when you get going. Everything gameplay-wise seemed to work really well and was quite easy to control and all that. Now some minor thing I would have liked is to easily be able to drag and drop rearrange available letters, also when I fullscreen the web player some parts of the screen is cut of, this reduced the experience a little but overall great submission.

LD46 — Keep it alive

It Came From Inside! by Ziamor 2020-04-21T15:44:17Z

Wow what a great idea, adorable fitting graphics, some pretty basic audio but it works. I had a little problem with the controls, did not like that you had to repress buttons constantly. It was a bit short, would have enjoyed some more levels but I know way to well how hard it is to fit everything in a weekend jam.

But the game idea is really excellent and fits the theme well, one of the best I've seen so far this LD.

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Event Horizon by Bejaro 2020-10-18T16:32:31Z

Interesting idea, I appreciate the volume sliders in the option menu but did not affect the menu music it seems. The gameplay gets pretty tedious fast, the circling mechanic could be really cool if it felt more like gravity and not that you are just on a circle path that you move in and out and flip direction of. Did not feel that I could reliably dodge the green shots so the best strategy I found was to try and block the shots with the asteroids, and just try and pick up fuel when possible without spending too much. Relly like the background and the visuals. But the above and also it feels like a slight delay when changing directions (even though the actual "flip" of speed seems instant) probably will keep me from coming back to it.

But overall nice job! Kept me playing for a while!

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Run Miner Joe by Rolle 2021-04-27T21:18:45Z

I had some problem with inputs stopping when changing directions in the air and also when touching side of a ledge when falling, but other than that it had a nice "just one more run" feeling to it. Kinda reminded me of the feeling of playing a of a roguelike or similar. Fits the theme really well, the color flash made it sort of random since you cant even see where you land so just had to hope you landed on a good spot. Overall nice job!

My top score after a couple of runs:

chrome_c7rvJNXtPA.png

FallBot by Obelex 2021-04-27T21:34:15Z

What a cool little game, took me a bit to get how to find where in space the gems where - after I got a few I just had to get them all. Feels like this concept definitely could be built on with more mechanics etc to make it last longer. The graphics is kinda soothing and pleasant and while playing I almost got some vibes that I was playing a rythm game, not sure why but just had that feeling.

Not the best time I'm sure but was a nice time playing. Goodjob.

chrome_XDEMxHuhuy.png

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Rythm In Space by elektropapst 2018-04-27T16:56:20Z

Like someone else said, after you get the hang of it it becomes quite fun!

What I Liked - Music - Theme combination (similar to ours) - Feeling of pressing combos

What I missed - A menu - Scaling of difficulty (could not notice any increase in difficulty while playing?) - Better or settable controls, (M and S??)

Overall nice job!

Beet Farmer by oneseedfruit 2018-04-27T17:57:53Z

Oh man, not sure why I like this so much. But I do.

Simple graphics, **but satisfying**. Simple sounds, **but makes soothing music as you play**. Simple gameplay, **but deeper than at first glance**.

It really shows how you can't just look at a screenshot and judge.
