Interesting concept but would have preferred keyboard movement. There's also no reason not to hold down space bar making it redundant.

tanay 2017-04-29 15:59

@spinaljack thanks a lot for your input! Hmm, I thought mouse movement would suit well. But, maybe I'll include both. Maybe the mouse movement isn't smooth enough? Yeah, I know about the spacebar thing. Realized it kinda late. But, I think I would add some extra game mechanic later. Due to which, the player will sometimes prefer to not capture a planet while on it... Thanks again.

rombus 2017-04-29 17:15

Really cool game man! I find it too hard, but I like how you conquer planets and then the planets have your back :P

I hope to see more updates on this!

tanay 2017-04-29 17:23

@rombus thanks a lot for your feedback! More levels, better graphics, smoother gameplay, etc. coming soon. If I increase the difficulty of the levels slowly. I can make the game less difficult. Thanks, again.

I love the gameplay of this game and I would recommend this to everyone to play this game.

subwooferx3 2017-04-30 06:05

The gameplay was a tad underwhelming, Could've used a few different types of enemies. However I completely understand time was an issue so I'll disregard that. It was a very fun concept, and if it was fleshed out more it would totally be a game I'd pay money for

steve-johnson 2017-04-30 06:16

I won, but I wasn't happy with the gameplay. It's a cool idea for the planets to be your weapons, but it's not enough to hang the game on. Winning felt both difficult and tedious, because the player ship is made of paper and it's very tricky to get the enemy ships in position because they seem to lose interest in you extremely quickly.

Also, whenever your mouse moves outside the screen, the controls stop working, which is a HUGE problem when you're trying to deftly avoid bullets!

baconinvader 2017-04-30 06:28

Really enjoyed the game! Tying to dodge enemy fire while capturing a planet, then using that planet to attacks enemies makes for some fun gameplay! Just wish it could have better graphics, but that's not really much of an issue

fingamer 2017-04-30 06:33

Enjoyable game! The gameplay was lacking something though. Like more enemies and maybe bigger level but otherwise it was nice. With more levels and little improvements this could turn a really nice time killer.

agustinlanus 2017-04-30 06:47

Really enjoyed the concept! Would definitely play a full version with added depth and different enemy/planet types

lars-dk 2017-04-30 06:55

Cool game!

I liked the concept (although not sure why planets have walls around them ... could have just been magic circles or something lol) and the fluidity of the gameplay. I won on my second try, but it was challenging nonetheless. I would've definitely stuck around for a level 2. The music was good if repetitive (without a good loop), and the sound was good, even if these were post-jam things.

I agree the mouse controls made the game much harder. I'd have preferred a keyboard option for sure. I also would've liked a full-screen option, and ended up zooming on my browser to fit the whole canvas. Although this made mouse control even harder! Graphics could also have used a significant facelift. Some effects were there, while they were nothing special.

The mechanics were solid but missing some crucial elements. Personally I think it would be valuable to give the player feedback on why AI behaves as it does, for example by including the player's line of sight. The UI could also use more valuable information such as labelling the player health bar. Once you figure out the puzzle of how to win, the game is fairly straightforward.

That being said this was a fun challenge and I think could be an exciting level 1 for a much bigger game! Lots of fun to play and write this feedback on.

Nice game, its really fun! And I'd love to see better levels and graphics, but its great so far. The level/s so far might be a bit too simple, but you've already addressed that, and although it's mostly obvious, an instructions page could help.

fanna 2017-04-30 09:32

Fun and competitive game in a weird way, maybe art could be a little more detailed. Try mine [AETHER CRYSTAL](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/aether-crystala)

enerccio2 2017-04-30 09:48

I liked it, but it seems it could do really well with randomly generated maps instead of hardcoded one map.

stoemason 2017-04-30 15:58

Cool idea to only have indirect combat. It's quite hard, though unfortunately also because of the mouse controls - if the mouse leaves the frame, you lose control. Maybe locking the cursor, or better, keyboard controls would alleviate this. You also die *very* quickly. With those fixes, and a bit of enemy and level variety, this could be a fun and challenging browser game :)

simonhutchinson 2017-04-30 20:48

Very cool! I like how it's like a hybrid tower-defense/action game.

I couldn't always figure out how to dummy the AI out of hiding. I wish there were a more straightforward way to "git gud."

khorm 2017-05-01 14:09

Nice little game! Seems quite balanced and had fun gameplay, would really have likes some more levels though!

impbox 2017-05-02 04:28

The mouse controls were awkward, keys would have been nicer, even as an option. Space was unnecessary. captured planets should heal you perhaps. AI was annoying and took too much to kill. Only managed to capture 3 planets.

svntax 2017-05-02 04:55

I like the idea. If the AI was more balanced it could be more fun. Sometimes you can just hide in a corner and the AI would stay still while getting hit. Also there are some places where the shots from the planets or the enemies hit an invisible wall or disappear instantly, which seems like a bug.

powerspark 2017-05-02 05:52

It wasn't too bad, I just wish there was more purpose to everything. Key movement would have been nice, I wish I could heal, and it would have been more engaging if there were other ways to get around enemies rather than just wildly strafing. I liked the music and focus, though, keep it up!

simple-blue 2017-05-02 06:20

Cute little game. Fun easy to do movement. Kinda wish I could fight back. I also kept losing my cursor off the screen so that was my fault on messing up. Nice job getting everything working from UI to mechanics, I had fun playing it!

roberto-romao 2017-05-02 11:48

On the begin is a little confuse ( maybe u just need to put the instructions on the game ) But after that, man that was fun :D ! Is very smooth and have the right time (in a point i was "dancing" to dodge the bullets ). The music and sounds are simple but suits well. Very good job ! :D

Maybe a future .io version will be a cool ideia to work on!

mattwoelk 2017-05-02 16:29

Once I figured out that planets shot enemies for you it was fun! :)

gleb-mineev 2017-05-02 17:29

Nice game, fun to play! Mouse movement was ok for me, except for the times when it seemed to be accidentally frozen in place. And for some reason, it doesn't reaches the exact cursor position. Also, I would increase the speed of enemies a bit, sometimes it takes a lot of time to lure them to the planet.

jdmazz 2017-05-03 02:14

I like the game. It is fun and the mechanic of capturing planets and luring enemies into them is unique.

sheeptree 2017-05-03 15:45

I really had fun playing this. Obviously it would be great to have more depth but hey, this is a LD 3-day attempt! For that it's a great start. If you were to keep going it would be great to have a countdown for how many planets were left to capture, and also a way to fight back against the enemies (or at least avoid the fire, there isn't much room for evasive maneuvers, ha ha). Anyway, great job overall!

sebasrez 2017-05-04 14:37

Pretty interesting gameplay. It can be pretty challenging considering you have no weapons but I like that the planets shoot for you. It was a lot of dodging to avoid the enemies. Cool work!

athomicus 2017-05-04 18:42

so much fun for play this thx for good concept and play

mar3k 2017-05-06 20:41

Simple graphics, but fun to play even though it is pretty hard. The sound effects and the music is nice and overall concept is promising and quite unique. I would say that you did a nice job here!

shaolin-dave 2017-05-07 05:58

The controls aren't very intuitive. I'm not sure there needed to be a "capture" button at all, but right-click would have been better than space. Still, I could see this expanding. Improve the controls, maybe randomize the environment, and you'll have a great casual game.

valiap 2017-05-07 18:42

Simple but fun. But i think using WASD for movement would be easier than pressing left mouse button. Good work!

简单但也不失乐趣。但感觉用WASD移动更符合知觉?现在要按住鼠标有点难操作。

shamps 2017-05-08 20:46

This game is addictive! The balance of difficulty is just right (I haven't completed it yet, but I want to play more!). The captured planets didn't fire sometimes, even when an enemy was in range (sometimes it looked as if a bullet was being fired, but the bullet wasn't reaching the enemy..?). I'd love to see keyboard controls too, mouse doesn't feel comfortable enough. I know you don't want to be rated on music, but you chose the track well. The music really adds to the atmosphere despite the simple aesthetics.

jebouin 2017-05-12 14:01

Interesting gameplay! The controls are a bit unusual, I don't mind the mouse movement, but it gets annoying when you move the cursor out of the game window and the player stops moving. The game is quite short and easy (I beat it on my second try), I'd like to play an improved version of it. :)

masterkrepta 2017-05-13 01:50

while the mouse movement didn't feel natural, i found it grew on my over. I think if it had a more fluid motion it would feel better. Imagine if there was some slippery-ness to the ship like in asteroid, where you could slide around corners

omarshehata 2017-05-13 03:07

I just want to say I _really_ like this mechanic! Both in terms of how it feels to play it but also just in the story behind it (like the idea that you as the player have no intrinsic power, you can't shoot or harm anything directly, but you can as this "commander" go around and arm your stations like that).

There were definitely some small rough points that made it a little frustrating. I kept dying because my character would suddenly stop moving for some reason. After a while I realized it's because the mouse was exiting the game window for a brief moment and that meant I had to click again. Capturing the mouse (or I guess playing the game in full screen) would help fix this. It felt a bit too challenging right now. At first I thought what you were supposed to do is lure the enemies back to your turrets, but I guess that might make it too easy?

neon 2017-05-13 14:31

Would've preferred WASD or the arrow keys to move, but otherwise the game was pretty nice. The idea is cool, but the controls (especially on a browser, when moving the mouse outside of the screen can be problematic) hindered my progression a bit. Oh, and the music is very nice!

ethan-allwood 2017-05-14 03:16

Nice game! Movement is a little awkward but other than that, its a pretty solid entry.
