STEEL GEAR CHAOS by FireSlash 2017-05-02T09:47:12Z
I love me some TBS but I would have appreciated some predicted enemy movement icons. Also an indication of where the air strike will be before the move phase and a retry button to improve your rank.

Fun clicker game, hopefully you'll add more layers to the post compo version
Really nice game, got a few of the endings
Very nice NES style graphics, the effects are very juicy giving it a bit of impact.
fun concept, interesting take on the theme
Good recreation of Devil Daggers but where's the giant centipede?
Nice work, difficulty could ramp up quicker though.
Really nice game, love the concept and execution. If you want to expand it maybe add objects you want to deflect into the planet or have objects that you aren't allowed to shoot to mix it up. Boss encounters?
I really like the art and audio and the little birds. I felt like the different weapon upgrades actually made the game harder though. The shotgun should do more damage and the machine gun should shoot faster than the regular pistol. All the animations and polish were great but I got stuck on the cubes a lot. Overall solid entry.
This game is so much fun, like a mini rocket league. Interesting take on the theme as well. I kept playing till I got to match day 8 and then it stopped. I'll imagine I won a small cup. Played it again and the bug only occurs if you play as Brazil.
Fun game. The music was pretty annoying. I liked how if you kept walking past the boss your legs fall off the edge of the map and there's no body connected to them lol
That's amazing work for 3 days, got some major dev envy right now. Love the intro and polish and wobbly physics. Top marks all round. P.S. Does the witch statue do anything?
Nice graphics but the camera movement when turning was unnecessary, just the mouse offset would have been fine. Also for some reason the music only came out of my right speaker.
Interesting concept, I'll give it a longer go later... Okay so I've played it like 10 times now and it seems a bit random. I've never gotten on tour. Nice reflection of duck society. lol
The writing and art is pretty good but there's not a lot to do really. I guess that's the life of a shut in.
Nice little point and click, nice atmosphere. Would have preferred a simple yes/no prompt though.
I really like those voxel graphics and animations. The music was good if a bit short. The goat sounds were pretty loud though.
nice art and sound but controls are difficult to use and I think the crystal on the column on the starting island is not collectable.
I was using windows.
Getting a strong Inner Space vibe with this one which is great. Love everything about it except the laser sound and over heat. Good stuff.
I came here from RPS, game is so cool :)
nice, too bad you can't shake it to make it snow though
Fantastic game, very funny. voice over is great if a bit humbly.
cute game but damned if I can beat that other planet!
A pizza masterpiece. I didn't get along with the rocket. My fav tactic is to spawn land mines in front of melee troops who then push the land mines into enemies. Both win and lose animations are hilarious, especially the man eating his whole arm... and then it was a double arm with another pizza!
Nice sprites and scrolling anim
Very nice music and atmosphere, very relaxed in the face of meteor and resource death. I could listen to that music all day long. Top marks all round.
double posted :/
Interesting simulation. Maybe add more methods of interaction like introducing different organisms or antibiotics to see the different reactions.
Very nice game, thanks for making it. Could have used a proof reader for some of the text and the snow flake was a bit fiddly to collect if you weren't exactly in the middle of the globe. Top ratings all round.
Nice game, not sure if your population would continue to grow after so many impacts ;) Also not sure how population can destroy stars. View scrolling could have been smoother.
Nice tower defence, would have preferred a more top down perspective especially when positioning planets.
nice game but why use media fire when you can use ich.io?
Nice monster designs and customisation. There's a glint of a game there shame there's not more of a goal other than consume all the planets. Maybe if there were other lady monsters with different tastes to impress.
I wanted to like this game but it kept crashing on me so I never managed to get off the first planet which is a shame cos I love these kinds of games. Also every few minutes the sadness on my planet would spike causing a downward spiral of under production which I could never get out of. Nice graphics and UI and calming music though.
Very nice game, high levels of polish. Dunno how to get the dolphin or volcano achievements though.
+1 for VR support. Nice gentle gardening simulator with the added excitement of suffocation!
Fun/frustrating game, actually took me a minute to realise I should wall jump off the green block. The comment about super meat boy tipped me off on that one. Can't get past the 2nd planet though.
Interesting game, took me a few goes to get to a stable planet. After completing all the goals there's not much left to do. Filled up every slot with factories and choked out the last remaining humans. Would have been cool to have adjacent bonuses to make you think about placement more.
That is adorable, like an indie baby mario or bbc game. Mechanics are well implemented, level design is clever, I like how there a multiple routes based on how pro your movement skill is with the toss and double jump. Top scores for you.
I watched the video and came here. Really impressive graphics. I found a bug where the key fell through the floor/carpet though and the collision are a bit funky.
Nice game, I like the simulation of a heart beat. Impressive for a compo entry.
Nice transition animations, very juicy. I think I encountered a bug when all enemies fall off the platform nothing happens and you get stuck on that level.
I'm surprised this is still in the danger list. I'm sure it will get highly voted when people find it. Maybe add a cover image to help.
Fun simple mechanics
fun little space shooter
Nice, guess the flat earthers knew too much. Top score was 260. Near the end I started preemptively smashing ones that look a bit too fast lol
Very fun, love the concept and theme. Nice video too.
I got some bullet issues where they would explode right after firing so only some of them made it towards the enemies. Nice theme and art and animations. I like how the bullet orbit the planet and how you can push the smoke particles. I have to agree there's not much point in using the jet pack. Maybe add flying enemies or enemies that attack you which you have to jump over.
Reminds me of Wreck it Ralph like it was an actual arcade cabinet from the early 90s. Controls are a bit clunky but otherwise a solid entry.
Really nice visuals but the platforming was a pain due to the clunky, bouncy movement physics. I was also tossed around when switching worlds inside of another object. I powered through and got to the end. The character looks cute and the environment and art are top notch.
Really nice models and animation. I like the spider shadows on the globe, very ominous. It's a shame you didn't get all your ideas implemented in time.
OMG this game is so great, hard as nails though
Impressive amount of content for a game jam. Don't really see the theme used but good job on the story and mechanics.
Fun game, I appreciate that the logo is also a helpful hint on colour combinations :)
nice graphics
There is actually a lot of content here but that audio.
Interesting take on the theme and mental health. A little bit on the nose perhaps.
Very glowy but my character kept getting stuck on terrain and movement felt floaty. Could have done with smoother flow and fewer interruptions. Maybe keep the game going under the huge pop up texts.
Hilarious description, I wont try to come up with a jokey comment. The graphics are clean and simple which I appreciate.
Nice little puzzle game, had fun figuring out the interactions
*Spermthumbsup* Not sure why there's a delay to shooting. It does add a bit of challenge to aim where the shot will be when it fires.
Nice graphics. Fun little back yard Lord of the Flies / Hunger Games simulator.
Cool game, I made an Amoeba game as well :)
nice rogue-like
Nice art style but the gameplay boils down to rushing towards the boss of each stage and mashing right click all the time, die and repeat. I can't avoid getting hit which might be something I missed.
Lovely. Ladders were a bit annoying though and what's the purpose of fixing the machines or money? I fixed the ship and left, I guess the moral is don't let the grind get you down?
Fun concept and theme. I found the controls to be awkward and sticky. I couldn't always perform a double jump and didn't get past the platform with the virus on it cos I kept falling into the stomach acid. The jump shake gave the game a weighty feel though.
Nice first game
Nice background art, I managed to get to america on my best run but it felt like luck more than skill got me there. Maybe the different enemy types should have different but predictable movements.
The level design is very reminiscent of Megaman and that end boss design looks hilarious. Very well executed.
Really fun and polished game, great theme and execution. There's not really a reason not to hold attack and mash convert constantly though. Maybe adding more of an energy penalty for those abilities and make it more about timing your push or boosting the force of nearby units.
Nice homage to the witness and scale portals. You captured the essence of those games while mixing things up. good job.
Nice clean graphics, interesting mechanics. Could be a simple but clever turn based game with a smarter AI.
Good job on your first LD
Interesting concept but would have preferred keyboard movement. There's also no reason not to hold down space bar making it redundant.
Nice little game, terrain destruction reminds me of worms but top down. Maybe you could add different enemies that fly and drop bombs in the middle of the island to make travelling across it a bit more tricky.
Really nice game, love the gameboy graphics and the music. I'm not clever enough to finish it though.
Nice graphics, I like how each character emerges and enters a portal
Love it, it's like a mini kerbal space program
nice theme and concept
Nice gameplay, one of the better sphere shooters in this comp
Nice game, could do with a speed up button though.
really simple and fun concept, strong disc world vibe from the turtle as well :)
Nice game, commentary on the futility of mankind? lol
nice game, found the double jump to be tricky to pull off. maybe add auto double jump to space bar while indoors. also when you leave the planet your old suit is still on the floor inside, what's up with that? new suit? clone? did the original die on the planet? that mystery will prey on my mind.
Nice effort, keep it up. Maybe add some screenshots and stuff to this page.
Nice graphics, loads of potential and hey, if you decide to take it commercial I hear that Nintendo Switch devkits are pretty cheap ;)
Nice spin on pong
Game jolt doesn't want to load for me. How about uploading it to ich.io or a zip of the game files? A shame cos I was looking forward to playing this one.
Thanks, I played it and pretty much agree with the above comments. Nice art and concept.
Good effort, keep at it and you'll be a pro in no time. I'd say the project was too ambitious for a game jam and something much smaller and more polished would have been better appreciated.
Fun game, the shrinking view makes it really difficult to play but I guess that's the idea, very trippy. I got 5000 points.
Nice game and nice write up, good read. I hope your dorm isn't full of bugs in real life ;) Music was fun but got repetitive.
Very juicy game, liked that the gun felt powerful and weighty. I would have preferred an ending rather than endless though. I got to night 5 on my best run, it doesn't seem to get any more difficult. The best tactic is to ignore the fire and trees and just craft bullets, then stand at one of the portals and fire constantly at the opposite direction until day time. Also the jump felt unsatisfying because of the amount of drag.
Really nice game. Also I love Plants Vs. Zombies! (the first one)
Nice game, love the retro aesthetics. Rock hard like it says, got to stage 2.
Very nice art and shaders. Really gives the impression that you are a small plant running from predators. Would be nice to turn the tables on your pursuers with even larger predators higher up the food chain.
OMG so cute, love it
Nice models
Interesting political take on the theme. The art on the map is clean and effective.
Thanks for playing, DNA is gathered from the orbs and killing enemies. If you can get to the edge of the map there's a nice reward at the end.
Uploaded a new build with a tutorial and mac and linux versions
Thanks, it's a rough approximation of how DNA works. Glad you enjoyed it :)
Thanks for the comments, it's not really a bug per say as you might want to alter stats downwards to change their behaviour. Not ideal but clicking on the creature name returns all your funds though.
As a tip start with the highest life stat creature from the list (or mouse over the last one alive to read it's name)
After you get them to last a few seconds you should focus on speed then agi then the eat behaviour. That should get them to hunt for food.
Then focus on strength and speed and aggro behaviour and they should be able to take out the larger mobs.
When you've got a strong group bump up the travel stat to get them to reach for the edge.
Always select the strongest creature to breed as the default one might not be the best choice.
Or you could just mess around with the colour and pattern to see how different you can make them look lol.
Uploaded a bug fix for the DNA editor
I've upload an image which explains each stat but it's not showing up. The story is explained above, you're a lab technician experimenting on microbes, making them stronger. The goal is get them to escape.
I put the image on the ich.io page
It's also worth noting that reducing behaviour traits below default will have the opposite effect. e.g. Reducing aggro make them flee from combat, reducing grouping will make each Amoebro avoid other Amoebro etc.
Thanks for the feedbacks! I'll upload a dev build, probably some random null references causing some people crashes.
Thanks, Vivienne did all the music on ipad for the first time, she had fun making it. The blur effect should clear up after a few seconds.
I agree that sorting and speed up would have been nice. I'm amazed someone actually took down an invader lol
@testlab Thanks, you can go full screen if you press alt+enter or select full screen when launching. Or you can on windows, not tried the linux version.
@testlab oh, I thought there was one. You can usually get it to show the launcher if you hold ctrl while starting the game.
@swamphen You've got it. There's an info diagram on this page that tells you have each trait does as well.
Thanks!
@breadmower Click dragging is another thing that I would have liked to add
@bunnery I can't find your game, maybe link to it in your profile
Thanks for the comments @krylos @matheuscampos2910 can you add your games to your profiles so I can find them?
@shaolin-dave Yeah there is an amount of randomness in the AI behaviour so each run wont be identical. The main thing to look out for is seeing how high you can get your desired trait to be on each generation. You can just rush for the end by pumping speed, life and travel.
@novodantis Thanks for the comments. That's the way I play the game as well. The names list would probably have been more obvious if I'd bothered to create a list of readable names instead of random letters.
Thanks for the comments, all good suggestions.
@jojocanard Thanks for playing, there's a diagram on this page which explains all the traits. You can also scroll the view with arrow keys and mouse wheel. I'll work on making easier to understand games in the future.
@icxon Thanks for the comments and the video. There's no lose state except maybe giving up from confusion. The group trait keeps them together making them easier to keep in view so you can see which one made it to the edge.
Good suggestions!
Thanks for the video!
Interesting one touch mechanic
HAH that's amazing. It's like the Super Hexagon of windows XD Top marks.
Fun game and nice art style but why doesn't Earth Prime collect resources while I'm on other screens?
I like this entry, the audio is by far the weakest part. Would have liked a speed up and sell button though.
Nice little game but I keep missing my score because I'm mashing fire all the time and skipping the game over screen. Would appreciate an auto-fire function or semi-auto like in star fox.
