I just got my scripts folder(I always keep them all in one place), and uploaded that to google drive with a secret link or whatever its called(so that only people with the link can see it), and then put the link in my description.
nice art and sound but controls are difficult to use and I think the crystal on the column on the starting island is not collectable.
@spinaljack Which operating system are you using? I didn't have any trouble collecting any crystals. I'd like to look into this.

Really cool! Loved the style of everything and the bit of lore was interesting too. The camera effects were nice but sometimes were a bit blinding in the sky. Controls were a bit confusing when I was trying to turn in the air.
@gumboot thanks, I'll see if I could implement a better tutorial along the next bug fix
I was using windows.
I really like the use of particle effects and the developer did a great job with the graphics. The world of Icarus is really creative! Good job!
Oh man, such a beauty let down by awkward controls.
You use the mouse to close menu panels, but not for anything else? This desperately needs proper 3rd person camera and movement controls to be enjoyable at all. Trying to land on a small pillar is an exercise in frustration rather than awe and delight.
Keep working at it. This here is a very rough :gem: indeed.

Oops, i accidentally answered your blog post instead of replying here.
I really like the graphics but the controls are a little confusing at the start. I did not encouter bugs...
I'll rate your game as soon as it's possible to judge. đ

Really Awesome ! The graphics looks amazon, the sound design good. The controls are a bit odd but the beauty makes it enjoyable.
This is really poetic :) Good job !
I love your art and music but the controls is confused sometimes.. Btw great job :D

Holy moly! I can just chime in with the other commentors. The graphic design is amazing and the controls are a major hindrance of getting anything out of the game. I'd be perfectly content with just flying around and looking at the scenery, however without the ability to turn in any reasonable fashion that's going to be a pipe dream. :(
Also nice job on the wing-animations. Sad to hear that this didn't end up in the comp because of external issues - I can see how that'd be depressing.
cheers~
Thank you all for the feedback, I'll update the game soon.
@spinaljack I have found a bug that softlocks the game which makes it seem like a crystal is not collected and pauses the game until you quit it. If this is not what you've experienced, I'm afraid I'll have to wait for more reports until I can fix the bug you've encountered.
Hey man! The game looks amazing but I can't get it to run on Mac. When I try to run it after unzipping it says:
*The application âIcarusIsolationâ canât be opened.*

Impressive
@xavier-indie-gamedev I don't know which version of mac you're using but my mac automatically blocks software from unknown developers. To fix this you have to try to open the software, go to system preferences-> 'safety and security' or something and then you can give the permission to open the software.
I have some screenshots but my computer is in Dutch, so keep them merely as a visual reference to the steps I gave earlier Schermafbeelding 2017-04-28 om 19.29.58.png Schermafbeelding 2017-04-28 om 19.30.06.png Schermafbeelding 2017-04-28 om 19.30.12.png
@xavier-indie-gamedev @king-kujito I also use a Mac, there's a much easier way to deal with Gatekeeper than turning it off entirely, just right-click (or control-click) on the app in question and select 'Open' from the context menu instead of double-clicking. You will be presented with a dialog box asking if you are sure you want to open the game. After you say yes, it will remember that app forever and you can open it as normal. This way, you don't have to turn off your security settings system wide just to play LD games.
@king-kujito As for the game itself, I have to agree that the controls are problematic, but I otherwise liked it. The ability to steer with the mouse would have been an amazing boon; partly because the mouse, as an analog input device, provides more precise control, but mostly because mouse-look has been a staple input method for 3D games for almost 20 years.
@philomory Thank you, I'll try to add mouse functionality.
Wow. This is really tremendous work for 72 hours. I love the feathers particle effect (maybe not a particle effect?), and the overall vibe of the experience.
I'm going to echo the comments about the controls, but I think if you were to expand the game, then I wouldn't mind the time that it takes to learn them.
Really nice work!

Really neat animations! I cant believe this was made in 72 hours! the controls are a bit problematic, but you could probably redesign it. Overall, really nice :)
I agree with everyone here who's saying that this is a beautiful game marred a bit by clunky controls.
Also, after I "died", I think I broke the camera angle? It only happened once, but it changed to somewhat of a top-down camera, so I couldn't see where I was going.
Though other than those technical issues, the art design is mighty impressive, and if you do a polished post-LD version, I'd love to play it :)
The aesthetics of the game are amazing, I just love the look and feel you created! Besides you got a bonus with me, cause those islands in the sky like in Zelda: Skyward Sword are just one of my favorite things a game can have! Also the ambient sound really adds to the overall mood of the game.
But your camera and controls make a perfekt game to be "just" a really great game. Sometimes I could neither turn left nor right, sometimes i could. Sometimes I could change the y-axis with the arrow keys, sometimes could not. And the camera really should reset after you died, I often found myself stuck in a top-down camera angle.
But still, I love the Idea and the visuals as well as the atmosphere of the game are brilliant!
@stoemason yeah, I'm aware of this bug. It's going to be fixed in the next update.
Hey guys, I fixed the problems! Please report anything else that's not working well.
This graphics and audio of the game is actually good. My main problem with the game is the bugs (as most ludum dare games have),the controls and also the cursor is just a black box for me but overall the game is good and I recommend it to everyone. Great job for a game made from scratch in just 2 days.
@kristian-david Thank you! What operating system are you using? The cursor doesn't do that on my mac and I'd like to look into this. Also, what kind of bugs did you come across?
EDIT: I fixed the cursor

I generally don't like 3D games in the gems. Because they are so incomplete most of the times. But you did a good job. Congrats on your entry.
@king-kujito This are the bugs I encountered playing on windows:
http://imgur.com/a/HWRHH (I am playing on 720p but the ui is of low resolution )
http://imgur.com/a/YIaka (this is me passing through the ground)
PS: The cursor doesnt show on the screenshot
@kristian-david thank you for the report. I'll buff the resolution of the text next patch and I'll see what I can do to further improve collision detection.

The art and music are really nice. The controls were kind of hard. When I died and then tried to collect the crystals it wouldn't let me. edit: ok, I just read your thing about the updated version having fixed the crystal but so never mind about that.
@mrchippy Crystals weren't supposed to be collectable in the air (since you wouldn't really have any reason to land otherwise). So make sure you're always landing or standing when you want to collect a crystal.
Congratulation ! Your game is truly gorgeous, it's really impressive to have done that in an "almost compo" time. It's true that the controls are really harsh to handle though, and at several occasions I had kind of an unpleasant impression of dizziness because of the lost of landmarks. But anyway it's great and very promissing work !

The visuals are just beautiful and the atmosphere influenced by the ambient music and post-processing effects is unique!
Controls remind me of the flight school in GTA: San Andreas. It wasn't that hard to get used to .
One little thing: sometimes I "suddenly" start to fall, but I don't know why (SPACE does not recover me). It happened twice. Maybe there is a reason for it, which I have overlooked...
@m-1 it has to do with the speed of unity raycasts. The raycasts detect the players own collider. I haven't fixed it yet because I wanted to release a patch as quick as possible, so people could enjoy playing the game more. I'll definitely fix it in the next version.

The music and graphics is very beautiful, but the fog effects is used too much.
Found a solution to the Mac problem. This worked for me: https://superuser.com/questions/898124/the-application-someapp-app-can-t-be-opened
Ok I finally played it! Graphics (although the flare is sometimes too much because it gets really bright) and music/SFX are nice. The camera and controls kinda ruin it for me. I try flying and then seem not to be moving towards any of the distant islands at all, and if you press E whilst in the air it completely stuffs up your camera so you have no idea where you are or which way you're facing. Would be nice to have more intuitive controls (control the camera with the mouse, fly with space, and use WASD to move). Also my preference would be to have the cursor not visible on the screen because it detracts a bit from the (very nice) atmosphere! Hopefully this feedback was helpful to you:)
Best of luck if you keep working on it!

Gorgeous visuals. Took a bit to get a feel for the controls. Once I had them down it was a nice experience, good work!

I have now also rated your game.
I have finally got around to playing your game, now that voting is live.
The game is visually pleasing, and the animations for the character are stellar for a Jam game.
As seems to be the sentiment in many other comments, I found the controls very hard to master. I also found it confusing to navigate the skies. Maybe that's just me, but I soon wouldn't know what is up and what is down. Also, after I died... it seems the camera changed from a behind the character view to a top-down view, which made steering even stranger.
Overall, though - a tremendous Jam effort, and a game that could definitely be expanded upon and tweaked a little to make for a fun experience.
Interesting game, the visuals are very nice and I like being able to fly around. I think the glowing effects were a bit overdone and made it hard to see sometimes. And as people have mentioned the controls were a bit hard to grapple with altough I did get the hand of it eventually. There seems to be a bug where I died and then my character was rotated wrong and I was stuck in some kind of infinite death-loop. But I think with a bit more time and refinement this could be a really cool experience!

Really nice looking graphics! It seems like it's a common comment, but I had a really hard time with the controls. It might have been a bit easier if the left and right arrows rotated the character like A and D do. That would let you control your angle during flight with one hand. I also had a hard time collecting some of the crystals (I would just fly right through them).

Controls are a bit tough, but I love the idea and the art. And the soundtrack! Really nice work!
Cool but can you fix the controls it's so hard to move when your flying it feels like I get sucked in by the other planets and I can't even land after pressing[E]

It was really difficult to play, the controls need to be Improved. The visuals are great, but is not enought to say this is a good game, but I think is an interesting idea just need to work more on it. I any case, good job for 3 days.

I've tried 1.0 version and controls are crazy, you get dizzy trying to fly in one direction. By the way, it has a really great work in graphics and a good song to accompany.
@spaceman you have to land to collect crystals
Gorgeous. Cute. A pretty good travel. I loved it. You did an amazing work in a few days. Thanks ++

Very pretty, although the eye accommodation gets crazy sometimes. Controls are not that great and that's really important in fly around collect stuff type of game. I would prefer using mouse for orientation and arrows only for steering.

Beautiful world and sky islands. The atmosphere is so peaceful and fantastic. I love how you tuned the visual effects especially HDR (if I guess it right), which makes the graphics decent and in super quality. The feather particles on the wing is nice and admirable, which makes this game feels even better!
I have a little problem of the control though. I think you sure put pitch & rolling together instead of advance (throttle) & rolling. i.e., control the rolling with left/right arrows or pitch with W/S. I think this is a more comfortable way for flight simulation players.
Anyway, you've built up a beautiful small world. I'd really love to see this game being complete, and I expect how you make a beautiful, fantastic story

I revisited the controls again and i think the main issue i'm having is that i expect nick and roll directly next to each other on the keyboard. A friend has an RC plane and the controls were nick/roll on one thumb and only speed on the other (gier paddle was not enabled). I did not test it with a controller, but i think it would be great if it would be supported.
Awesome art and animation. The controls were a bit confusing and I ended up upsidedown, struggling to find my way. Anyway charming athmospheric game!

I feel like this game is too ambitious for LD, It looks like you gave this game a lot of effort, but just didn't have enough time to polish it up. and what this game needs really badly is a lot of polishing. still, nice graphics and the effort is shown

The game has a very good mood and beautiful graphics. :) I love to discover all the other islands but I find it really hard to control the player.
I just uploaded my game to a web version so you can play it on your mac ;) https://gamejolt.com/games/the-adventure-of-malvin/253679
Well, I just played 1.0.0 and I just couldn't enjoy the game. The controls were simply not anything that seemed to bring fun to the game in any way, shape or form. It's a shame, since the graphics, audio and mood are suberb.
The Visuals are absolutely stunning, and the music fits it so perfectly. Controlling the player in the air is far too difficult to make exploring the world possible. Depending on what kind of story you have in mind, this could be amazing if it's fleshed out more in and the controls are balanced out.
You manage to make it really baeutyful, and I liked different islands very much, but controls were unexpectedly difficult and unresponsive making game hardly playable.

Very nice graphics. I like the art style. Some adjustments to the controls can greatly improve the game play experience. Well done for 72 hours of work!

Flying in a video game has never been so beautiful and pleasant. After a minute or less I was already flying freely and enjoying my life as Icarus
All the work with the character and the visuals is absolutely stellar. Still, as pointed out above, controls are very difficult. I saw the video with you flying magnificently, but if on only the developer can do it it kind of breaks the purpose, doesn't it? I believe more testing with outside sources in the middle of the jam would have given you the path to better work the foundation of the flying the mechanic.
Also, the UI is absolutely terrible compared to the resto of the game. It's heartbreaking to see such beautiful animations and particle effects when the menu pops up and it's the default unity button.
But jamwise, you reached awesome heights. Great work Kujito!
@manolo-rei thank you very much :-) I didn't know, while working on the game, that so many people would struggle with the controls. I tried to improve them as much as possible in the updated version and due to the deadline being a bit too close for comfort, I rushed the UI.
2017-05-19 16:17
Lovely graphics, I did suck at the game though! I included it in my Ludum Dare 38 compilation video series, if youâd like to take a look :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u3lV-lDD06U
hey nice game. it is really gorgeous! the player is fantastic im very impressed. it felt really cool flying through the skies. i was not a fan of the controls, however. i would have preferred if you could turn left and right in the air instead of rotating. it made it quite difficult to get around. the sound design was nice as well. while the game wasnt a whole lot of fun, i think it is great prototype and i could see it expanding into something much bigger. its worth mentioning again how awesome the player art and animation is, that is some top notch stuff. good job.
