LD38 — A Small World

Turing Compete by Kaisean Games 2017-05-01T23:01:15Z

Not very intuitive game and I have some math background so I feel like I should be able to pick it up quickly. The UI could be more responsive like highlight what are you currently changing etc. The tutorial is not helping that much either. The UI is pretty though.

Cardboard Cats Online by Ilseroth 2017-05-02T03:12:47Z

MMO made in a weekend, hats down. It even has a MMO vibe to it, i.e. "hard to justify killing mobs over and over for loot". I reached level and killed the boss. If I would have to critique something it would the hitboxes could be a little tweaked and upgrade to the sword would further strengthen the MMO feel :)

For Eternity by holgk 2017-05-02T01:32:08Z

Oh building games, always fun :) More feedback as to what produces what would be nice and while people running around is certainly awesome, again if I don't see why, it's just an effect.

small World of Underbury by Listonos 2017-04-24T04:21:01Z

@vony256 Thanks for heads-up, should be fixed now.

small World of Underbury by Listonos 2017-05-02T01:43:13Z

@smooth and @steve-johnson sorry about that. I will update the post to only link to the Windows version.

small World of Underbury by Listonos 2017-05-02T02:53:29Z

@Ilseroth I am really glad you are enjoying it. I see your point about console-only input not adding anything mechanically and perhaps this kind of game/settings is not best suited for such "experiment". To my defense , I wasn't thinking in terms of let's make a crime crew management game -> let's me add "extra layer of obfuscation" by using console input. It was more of a: "I really want to make a console only game and I really want to make a game about sending dudes/gals on missions, let's see if I can make it happen."

I can totally see the console input being immidiate "no thanks" for some players. Personally I find this whole terminal world intriguing and combining it with games is something I would love to explore more.

small World of Underbury by Listonos 2017-05-02T12:55:31Z

@smiling-cat-entertainment Yeah defaming over and over is definitely an "exploit" I did not intend. There is a code to make it more expensive each try but it way too slow compared to reduction from being weak.

@ilseroth The idea is that you leave enough people alive to farm slander, defame Earl to the max and train one person in killing. After all that, you have like 95% chance of success .

@szczebel1995 I was a little worried about overly-complicated "controls" so it's good to hear that the explanation was satisfactory. I will write down to improve graphics next time

small World of Underbury by Listonos 2017-05-02T12:56:31Z

@simple-blue I'm little confused, what system are you running on?

small World of Underbury by Listonos 2017-05-02T23:08:30Z

@toulou thanks for the feeback. There is a auto-complete with Tab so even the long commands should be 1-3 characters per parameter but I see where you are coming from. I will keep an eye on command length next time.

small World of Underbury by Listonos 2017-05-03T15:33:16Z

@archimagus Very detailed feedback, thanks a lot and I am glad you've enjoyed my game.

- Better auto-complete is definitely something I have on the radar. At the very least, I will list options on second hit of tab - Linux style). Case ignore is a good idea. - The backspace and delete being broken, yeah I know about, that's a bug, will fix for the next time. - Slander is just currency for defaming and respect is overall score of your "crime abilities" - making every action more likely to success. - There will always be at least one typo

Yeah repetition and tediousness is something I have observed myself, I do see a good way out of it with the current gameplay and sticking to console. I will keep it in mind for the next project.

small World of Underbury by Listonos 2017-05-05T15:45:00Z

@stevie-bushman Thanks for valuable feedback.

* I agree, I had plan to weaken the boss significantly based on his minions deaths and I just did not get around to it. * I will keep the text slowness in mind and speed it up next time. I also plan to have an option to turn it off completely. * Permanent display of certain stats/information is an idea I have toyed with but decided not to go with at the end. It's a little complicated to implement (which is no excuse) and takes away a little bit of "atmosphere" of the overall console only game. * Tab is indeed crucial  * Believe me, Web GUI is something I have considered on many occasions. The decision not to go with it might haunt me in the future but it's just something I am not interested in getting to. Mostly to do with JS and rewriting the entire library. I want to stick with C# and console and rather push cross platform support even if it's a little painful process.

I'm glad you liked :innocent:

small World of Underbury by Listonos 2017-05-06T15:57:14Z

@rockhoppergames Very good points there.

* Pacing issues is something I have observed myself when testing, definetely agree on this one. * Kill command being weak is a good point. You are right it should have been stronger. * Damage is interesting idea for beat, the other options might have been give it a cooldown and affect other lords as well.

Thanks for playing and a very welcomed feedback.

small World of Underbury by Listonos 2017-05-07T03:41:51Z

@tobico Any sort of menu would kill the gameplay/vibe I was trying to capture. I do however understand that sort of "friction" is not for everybody. Auto-complete could be better, I concur.

It's definitely no the easiest game out there but hopefully that's part of its "charm".

Thanks for checking it out

small World of Underbury by Listonos 2017-05-18T03:04:33Z

@meaty-mclazerpantz Sorry about that, Windows one should be fine by all means. I assume everyone else is on Win 10 then.

Abaddon by Geckoo1337 2017-05-02T01:41:20Z

You have captured the atmosphere of old-school first person shooter incredibly. It is fast-paced, action packed, and the art is amazing as well. Well done. I would prefer larger view distances but hey, I hate horrors :)

Protolife by icxon 2017-05-01T22:21:53Z

Different shapes doing different things is pretty neat idea, thumbs up. It was a little hard to see what I am placing where. Minimalistic yet fitting graphics. Well done.

Chroma by Megalink 2017-05-05T01:46:56Z

Took me a little bit to get into it but at the end of the day, satisfying top down shooter. A slightly better sounds effects for shooting would be my next improvement.

The Aliens by Nnnnneeeedddd 2017-05-02T22:47:50Z

The gameplay is lacking (played the original version), you just spam fire button and go up. Upgrades are good, I'm glad you managed to do those.

Little House of Horrors by Archimagus 2017-05-02T02:03:34Z

Reminds me so much of a board game we play a lot with friends of mine. Haunted mansion or something like that. Great atmosphere, very nice environment. More gameplay with stats would be great.

Daydreaming Island by camilo 2017-05-05T02:06:09Z

Took a while to start rolling and I almost gave up. But the atmosphere was brilliant and I did finish it. Story lacking a little bit and I am sure you are aware of the "controls" situation. Not bad at all

Icarus Isolation by King Kujito 2017-05-01T23:10:42Z

Very pretty, although the eye accommodation gets crazy sometimes. Controls are not that great and that's really important in fly around collect stuff type of game. I would prefer using mouse for orientation and arrows only for steering.

Little Lands by Mr_Field 2017-05-05T01:31:22Z

I saw this on one of the "best lists so far" and I must say I wasn't disappointed. Very cute graphics, fits the theme pretty well, city builder  The sounds effects very a little annoying after a while would be my only criticism. Oh and I won with 85 people.

The Metro by pixeye 2017-05-02T00:07:33Z

I have a weakness for those type of games. I think it should start of easier will less options, such as you can only build workshop in your first station. Also the mutants in neighbor station absolutely destroy you and getting to the point of crafting weapons take too much time. Bug: I had an event where I had to plug a hole with builders and the dialogue of the result got stuck open and I couldn't close it.

Until Tomorrow by MSiddeek 2017-05-06T19:33:33Z

I love self-fulling/cyclic/meta kind of stories so this was a great experience. Input "floatiness" is definitely bad but otherwise I have nothing to criticize. Great atmosphere, above average story and reasonable graphics. All of them in a jam = thumbs up.

Haven - The Small World by Iluvatar 2017-05-06T19:48:27Z

Ended kind of abruptly but I assume you just ran out of time  If you don't quit the game you can talk to poisoned Dr. and he will get up for a short time which was pretty comical to me. Jokes aside, great atmosphere, the story was good thought short. Art was amazing and the music was great as well.

World en abyme by lepatryckduffy 2017-05-01T23:45:52Z

Loved the world-ception idea! Better physics and little bit more smoothness would go a long way here I think.

Come on, barbarian! by uchiro 2017-05-04T01:37:04Z

The art is hilarious and stunning, great comedic atmosphere. I generally don't enjoy physics games that much and this was not exception, nevertheless good job.

WATEREVER by Denny 2017-05-02T00:37:34Z

I have to agree it's not very clear how the world/water works. Nevertheless the art is gorgeous and it has potential as a puzzle game.

tinyarena by rxi 2017-05-01T22:47:40Z

Very pretty pixel graphics. It also has very smooth-responsive feel to it. The AI felt kinda dumb, at least the first few levels I have played. Some retro/electro music would be nice addition.

Headroom by PhilStrahl 2017-05-06T20:01:39Z

Everything was a little too shiny but stunning graphics indeed. I dropped the key near the "portal" in hope to make it smaller and I couldn't pick it up because of I would go through portal if I got any closer. As others have mentioned the walking speed when slow was annoying and the fact that you couldn't climb the carpet when small enough also bothered me. All of that might have sounded too harsh so don't get me wrong it's a great little game and the atmosphere was great.

Super Collapse Guy by crazi456 2017-05-05T02:18:37Z

Very well thought out and executed mechanic. Thumbs up.

50ft by 50ft (or How I Died In Space) by RockhopperGames 2017-05-02T23:24:21Z

Pretty depressing stuff you've got here. Luckily, I've just finished 13 Reasons Why so I was ready. Writing was good. I would appreciate more philosophy as exploring the ship doesn't really matter if you gonna die, but that might just be me. A little too long as well but I did finish it.

BUTERATOS by buteratosgames 2017-05-02T00:27:36Z

The above comments about re-using are indeed pretty serious and bad stuff so I will leave this unrated. Artwork is amazing, cut-scenes in jam entry?!

Blocknauts! by EndlessPlumber 2017-05-01T22:35:26Z

+1 for strange camera controls. Personally, I did not find it that much fun or enjoyable but it looks cool, little bit more lights would be nice.

Flurpies by Gumboot 2017-05-01T23:28:32Z

I believe the windows executable version has the hatching broken as I couldn't get it to hatch no matter how fast I clicked. The web version works fine. Other than that, cute adorable graphics and everything I would expect from virtual pet simulator gameplay wise. I wasn't sure how to increase happiness though.

Monster Deck by kamikaziuk 2017-05-02T23:04:02Z

I love card games so you get free bonus points. I hoped there would be a little bit more strategy, as there usually is in card games, rather than quick-time event but the execution is pretty good and graphics are very polished. With a little bit more love this could be fun little game.

Angry Worlds by MeronSoda 2017-05-02T22:36:57Z

The controls are fluid enough, the art is pretty and music was good so thumbs up. I did not manage to figure out how to defeat the charging stars after the first two so I did not see much of the game.

Stupid Humans by Virtual Window 2017-05-01T23:38:35Z

There are 4 versions in the download link and if any of them are post jam versions I would be very explicit about it.

Beautiful graphics. I would slow down the game a lot since at this speed you just end up button mashing for win. Very well made entry.

5-Minute Civilization by Stevie Bushman 2017-05-06T16:37:07Z

winning.png

^ Total annihilation incoming

I had a lot of fun! Played several times. I am sure you are aware of those but for the sake of review:

* The sounds effects weren't the most annoying I have heard over this LD but they weren't pleasant either. * At least one resource would add a lot depth to the gameplay * It was kinda easy once you figure out that it's just spamming things * Multi-selection, at least for the buildings, would be great * Nukes were great, thumbs up!

Den by La mecanique du plastique 2017-05-02T00:48:15Z

Very nicely captured atmosphere of a powerful yet trapped beast with sounds, controls and graphics. A little glitchy movement. Bien fait.

WHAT A SMALL WORLD! by ilikescifi 2017-05-02T00:17:37Z

Funnily enough, I think the length served the game well. Quick in and out, having a chuckle at the ending, and I am left with positive energy.

MiniPolis by korvyashka 2017-05-02T01:49:33Z

Can get hectic very quickly. It plays well, though more balanced growing/diminishing would go a long way here.

FREEDUMB! by Brothers Arcade 2017-05-06T19:19:07Z

Great satire and well furnished game. Definitely original. Not much content though, play for like 30 seconds and you have seen it all.

LD42 — Running out of space

Running out of space by Predominant 2018-08-12T17:51:12Z

This would make a great party game :) It was very easy to get really into it so good job on that front.

Demonologist by Ghen 2018-08-13T00:13:35Z

Interesting concept, the guide is fairly long but must-read which is not necessarily a good thing. The main mechanic is "cool" concept.

Your PC run out of space by Listonos 2018-08-12T19:37:43Z

@xyntell Thanks and I am glad it made you laugh. @leave :)

Your PC run out of space by Listonos 2018-08-12T22:23:05Z

@biodiesel Thanks. I am sure there will be a lot of games centered around files and deleting but I am glad you enjoyed the fruit-ninja gameplay.

@kristov Just some memes being thrown around nothing scary

@4thwallstudios Yeah I was considering bomb style Origin launcher but ultimately decided to go easy this weekend (read be lazy).

@aviv871 Thanks and glad you liked.

@the-icy-one I am proud of that cursor  I think it's still compo, I don't think remaking game icons just for sake of modification make sense, it's more about how you use them and I did have to cut them up. Similarly memes are just memes.

@devio I have not seen it miss personally, the logic is there has to be a cursor out-in-out of the icon so you need to be in motion. That being sad I would be the last person to mark my code as bug-less

@lars-erik Mission accomplies :smile:

@sdrrv :heart:

@quorusa Glad you like and I agree more icons would help. To be honest I just run out of installed games on my Steam.

@gulfick Thanks

@raffe *A single tear of happinnes rolls on Gaben cheek*

@bill-wheatley Thanks

@viater Summer saaaale :moneybag: Thanks.

@adonisdevs :smile:

@truc-e I quite like how the cursor turned out but I understand it's not for everyone. I kinda wanted everyone to finish on first try so I didn't want to make it too hard but I agree it could have been harder.

@itsjustjord Thank you!

@wizard Definitely PC master race

@pabricka Glad you liked it.

@lensflare We don't want to make it too hard , thanks though

@zachw136 Glad the summer sale had an impact!

@gilgusmaximus It's those little touches which sometimes sell the game right? Messy is good, just like summer sale

SINGULARITY by Syrapt0r 2018-08-13T00:55:22Z

Great game! A lot of content, looks good, fun to play. A little bit of variety in what planets offer would spice things up. Also the fellow rockets never dropped any gold when I hit them with missile.

Shrinking Snek by Thepattybeast 2018-08-13T00:31:31Z

Cool twist on snake. Not much replayability though.

Reply All by Dilem 2018-08-13T00:38:55Z

Well fitting the theme and nice joke on office jobs. A smaller font for the emails would be nice.

Rick Dervish - Space Cadet by coldfire83 2018-08-12T23:45:18Z

Very tough game, I did not manage to survive. Ignoring enemies, a long tested and battle hardened tactic suddenly does not work here. Could use a little bit more variety in sounds effects.

Engulfed by OmnipotentIndie 2018-08-13T00:06:18Z

Beautiful art style. The ship could be a little more responsive It tends to snowball very quickly but maybe I was doing something wrong.

*N*X warriors by Stepan Shabalin 2018-08-13T00:42:37Z

Same here x64 win build is full division by zero. Feel free to tag me if you get a working version.

We Need Space! by BigJigglyProductions__ 2018-08-13T00:24:07Z

Beautiful graphics and props for procedural generation. The game-play was little confusing probably because the UI could use some love. Also just spamming things seemed to work for me.

Dont Drop by Dsthedragon 2018-08-12T23:34:47Z

Starts of very simple, almost too simple. I wasn't sure if I am somehow able to restore blocks but it's probably just about order right? It could use little bit more puzzle elements.

ReMind LD-42 by EvanM 2018-08-12T23:57:26Z

Very long intro, you might lose some players just because of that. When the text doesn't quite align with the bubbles it make looks bad. I think it would be more interesting take on the theme if you had to manage what to remember and what not to instead of instant game-over. Didn't get too far into the story to say whether it was good or not.

OVERLOADED by rainysolar 2018-08-19T15:33:35Z

Very nicely captures that feeling of some people are sooo stupid and overall frustration of busy public transport system. I liked it. Only issues I saw occasionally some of the above-the-head numbers would get really small as others have mentioned a little stuck AI. I would be really nice if you could designate doors and in or out only but that might make it too easy?

Personal Space Invaders by The_Icy_One 2018-08-12T23:08:29Z

Very simple and well themed game. Everything could be a little faster, it take a while for the game to pick-up. FYI the offline version does not work, it just shutdowns immediately for me (no log to be found).

Viral by BigBossErndog 2018-08-12T19:23:08Z

Good music, great idea and funny as well, overall a very solid entry. It would be nice if it remembered the window size when you accidentally close them. And I want to point out I pay solid money to be able to hover over folder in Windows and see the size of it that quickly.

Tunnel Ride by Xyntell 2018-08-12T19:15:11Z

Suck you right in this one. I had some issues with strafing to the sides at one point (it wouldn't), I think I might have been stuck in the side of a wall. Otherwise simple and challenging game fitting the theme nicely.

Full of Thoughts by Pedro M Marangon 2018-08-13T00:44:23Z

Yeah the links are not done correctly, feel free to tag me once you fix them.

Obstacle Royale by Marrack 2018-08-12T22:32:32Z

Finished multiples times, it's a fun game. The text at the begging is too fast for me to follow completely which is a little bit of shame since it sounded funny. The AI is too stupid to pose a threat so it was very easy. I know AI is hard but at this point I would be fine with cheating AI. Also the music get's little annoying after a while.

[Running Out of Spac] by Sean Doyle 2018-08-13T01:01:08Z

Nice graphics but not much else to say. Did not seem to fit the theme that much,

you have a fish bowl defend it by magicalfeyfenny 2018-08-13T00:58:08Z

Nice visuals, it would be a cool bullet hell with little bit more polish. The shooting sound effect got annoying very quickly and you loose very quickly.

Island Populating Simulator by Arthur Baars 2018-08-13T00:27:13Z

Pretty funny idea. A better collision mechanics would help a lot.

Please No Home by Emanuele 2018-08-12T23:48:36Z

Yeah I don't think that many people have Love installed, myself included. If you happen to upload a version compiled into an exe, feel free to tag me and I will check it out.

Way Up! by Biodiesel 2018-08-12T22:39:07Z

Interesting concept and while a very random still challenging game. Make sure you add exit button/key shortcut to your games it's a little annoying to have to Alt+F4. Also I did not see much point in dragging boxes around since there is not much time to set-up things.

The Pit by jelbre 2018-08-13T00:17:52Z

Kick animation and little bit more polish on the controls would go a long way. Interesting concept though.

Shrinkage by woubuc 2018-08-12T23:38:35Z

Simple yet thematic twist on classic game. The UI and graphics are wonderful, I wish I could make that elegant looking game. I think I would prefer to start at slower pace though.

Personal Bubble by 4thwallstudios 2018-08-12T22:55:32Z

Cool idea and execution  There are some issues however. When looking straight up or down the camera freaks out. Additionally as you get bigger it often clips through the walls. It also seems that you get very very slow as you get bigger. During the end I was second biggest bubble and it took light years to get anywhere.

So many bubbles reminded me of 2005 Hooligans movie for some reason.

Oh and forgot to mention the music is very loud.

Utter Space by snakemuho 2018-08-12T18:13:00Z

Very hectic when you are closing to getting in, took me a few tries. I also appreciate the humor.

Mancha! by Lakso 2018-08-12T23:28:58Z

Simple game with clean graphics. It's really easy to beat the AI but it really surprised me when the AI stopped following me in order to grab a grey freeze, props for that.

Lab by Kristov 2018-08-12T17:58:39Z

Fun little game, managed to escape when I have slowed down little bit. Good obstacle generation, at least on the easier difficulties, makes it engaging.

JumpArround by Leave 2018-08-12T18:29:40Z

I got to about half of the tree, not biggest fan of jumping puzzles. Gorgeous looking game though and apart from the immediate drowning danger it would be quite relaxing.

Neighbour Nullification by Kim Ordén 2018-08-13T00:01:10Z

Yeah can't fully explore it with just me. Also it wasn't super clear to me how to "relieve yourself". I did order a lot shit though.

LD44 — Your life is currency

Almost free by Listonos 2019-04-30T03:50:15Z

@vuvuzuellainc Thanks, appreciated. @synystercola and @trevor-shoe thanks guys and no we didn't have time to make a death scene or restart functionality. I will update the description.

Loose Change by Tony Li 2019-05-01T22:57:59Z

Funny to see people confused by the size, welcome to Murica. I agree that the game for a little bit too zoomed for the speed you are able to achieve. The interpretation of the theme is neat and I appreciate the simplicity and randomness of the whole idea.

Ancient Current See by paulhocker 2019-05-01T23:01:55Z

Could be a little more forgiving in the begging to get used to the mechanic but neat idea and cute graphics.

Arena Of Wealth by GreenBoxGames 2019-04-30T01:26:13Z

Fits theme perfectly, pretty enjoyable gameplay and gets challenging later on. Thumbs up for stun rounds so useful. I agree with the slow start comment.

Lite Fitzcher's Blackout by Coaxial Corporation 2019-04-30T03:27:06Z

The art style is cute and it is enjoyable enough experience exploring the map. A little bit too big to keep me entertained till the end (only found two components for the wind mill), I think more variety would help.

Temerarious by SynysterCola 2019-04-30T04:04:20Z

Didn't get that far but there seem to be a lot of content to go through, part of it is of course courtesy of RPG maker but still I almost forgot it's a LD game :) More combat and go crazy with the life mechanic would be my feedback.

Keep Dem' Sick ! by VuvuzuellaInc 2019-04-30T03:47:57Z

Really cute graphics and nice soundtrack but I didn't quite get how to play. How do you earn money? Does it have to do anything with the bottom floor? I just kept loosing money. Maybe it's just me being dumb but I would suggest putting a little bit more explanation in the description.

Don't pay with your life by Majadroid 2019-05-01T22:16:26Z

The combat wasn't really fun but I enjoyed the art style and overall mood of it.

Slotbot Arena by isayneigh 2019-05-01T22:28:46Z

It was little bit hard to grasp both the body exchange and coin generation, I feel like just one of those would be enough for a game. But otherwise cool little game.

Little Baby Bloodbag by Trevor Shoe 2019-04-30T04:11:50Z

It feels really good to raise your onw private army, you nailed that mechanic. More levels and tougher enemies (that require certain size of mob) would a nice addition.

Kill The Money by Copper_Aardvark_Games 2019-05-01T22:47:38Z

Actually finished it, fun gameplay and really cool animations. The take on the theme was on the weaker side but that's okey.

Not sure what is the point of the golden nugets that fly across screen is and the game needs to get way harder but overall I enjoyed it a lot. Good spin on the theme and cool gameplay.

The Aging Soul by bigwhiteshogun 2019-05-01T22:09:16Z

Beautiful art and nice spin on the theme, a solid entry.

Meter Maid DX by No Grapes Games 2019-05-13T02:23:37Z

I chuckled at the parking meter anime transition and the character was cute. Nice graphics and above average music. Game-play doesn't last long but overall solid entry.

Underbello by Waldinx 2019-05-01T22:37:22Z

Really enjoyed the style, reminded me of Prince of Persia. One shot kill is little harsh but hey it's Underworld. Good job.

LD45 — Start with nothing

SOMtHINGa from NoThINGa by Jimbly 2019-10-08T00:56:22Z

I liked it, a simple puzzle concept but surprisingly fun with very solid execution. Especially the high-score board is nice.

HOBO RAMPAGE by Ntimi 2019-10-08T00:36:00Z

Nice work on the graphics, very gritty game. The knife are doable once you learn to go through them and "backstab" them but with running enemies it becomes really tough on the second level. Solid entry.

Thief! by MaximBegunov 2019-10-08T16:24:45Z

I think I would prefer the stealing progress bar as part of the screen ui and it's hard being a thief :) Cool entry

private void Start() by LuckyFeathers 2019-10-08T00:41:29Z

Nice little touches like the keyboard animating when you type. I liked this entry,

The Daily by huskitch 2019-10-08T00:22:08Z

Same here, black screen with audio on Win 10.

Minds are Mine by EggshellDog 2019-10-10T16:05:22Z

I enjoyed this way more than I thought I would

Small Town by XCVZXC 2019-10-08T16:12:53Z

As other have said too much clicking, you need access to buildings that produce automatically early in a clicked game. But cool graphics and a lot of gameplay for compo entry.

Mr.Grind by iozsaygi 2019-10-06T19:00:26Z

For Ludum Dare I would make upgrades way cheaper, people won't have the patience for those nubmers. But solid entry and cool graphics.

Tom is Lonely by pedromgdo 2019-10-08T00:45:11Z

The death effect was pretty neat. Unless you were going for that effect I would say the controls are too floaty but that's almost every LD platformer out there so no stress :)

JO-KEN-DO! by Hcursino 2019-10-08T16:39:46Z

Solid entry, the music was little bit too loud and it would be nice if you introduced the circular strong moves more slowly, there is not way I will remember what is strong against what.

LD46 — Keep it alive

Guns are Gas are Life are Score by Josh Riley 2020-04-20T15:33:51Z

Yeah the rotating input was way too sensitive for my liking but overall pretty solid graphics a sounds effects.

Shipping Schrödinger's Cat by Hjalte 2020-04-21T00:37:41Z

Great picks for music, got me all pumped up. Nice puzzle/action game and I love the concept.

Until We Freeze by icxon 2020-04-21T01:38:20Z

Not really sure how to bring the fish up after discovering the lake but great atmosphere and not shabby looking either.

In the Valley of Souls Deluxe Edition by Syrapt0r 2020-04-21T01:01:09Z

Love the dev commentaries, got serious stanley parable vibes. Probably might favorite game so far. Not bad looking, great mood, even music and sfx were great.

Sim Cell by Archimagus 2020-04-21T03:20:38Z

I love games like this, spent a lot of times playing it, trying to figure it out. A loot of waste is piling up quickly. It was not clear to me at all what buildings cost what or produce what. Still not sure what ATP does. But great game and I feel like I have learned something :)

The Sword of Saturn by tinykidtoo 2020-04-21T03:30:30Z

Had a blast playing this for a while, feels very fluid and fun to slaughter but also maintain blood.

Soccer Life Story by jrap 2020-04-20T16:17:43Z

Pretty charming game. That choice of sounds effect for conversation was little unfortunate in my opinion.

Blightstone by Nimphious 2020-04-20T15:51:46Z

Would have been pretty solid entry IMO, nice graphics.

Firestarter by Snowdrama 2020-04-21T02:11:19Z

Perfect solution to overpopulation problem :) The sound is very loud and cops are not the brightest but I liked the city graphics.

Hacking is Probably Not Like This by sayumeki 2020-04-20T15:46:54Z

A lot of minigames packed into a compo entry, pretty impressive. The mood is pretty great as well.

Social Distancing Simulator by Ruoyu 2020-04-20T16:30:39Z

I am little prejudiced against Covid games but this was very enjoyable. Good feedback to the player and nice to see people moving around.

Metamagotchi by onnofal 2020-04-20T02:36:12Z

Such a beautiful graphics, love it. Shame there isn't more gameplay but you said it yourself.

Peculiar Farming by Arcus 2020-04-19T22:37:50Z

Chill little farming game, could use more options and some progression.

Sweet Resurrection by James Shipp 2020-04-20T16:02:12Z

Gonna be honest, I didn't get the electricity puzzle and there didn't seem to be anyway to un-flip the switches. But nice mood and really cool camera effects.

Fire my guitar up by Alexey Kuzovkov 2020-04-20T16:40:34Z

Was really hoping for some sweet country music in this setting but retro dark electronics will do :) Great atmosphere.

MMO Dungeon Healer: Quest of Valor by exewin 2020-04-20T02:49:02Z

I always wanted to make a game like this, so huge thumbs up for trying it. That freaking mage and his aggro :) Get's kinda hard after few waves. Very good entry though.

Save Dave by Kirbloid 2020-04-21T00:27:03Z

Such a great concept and despite being bad at multitasking I have really enjoyed playing this.

Tower Doffense by blint6 2020-04-19T23:51:01Z

It gets kinda hard and button-mashy but I like the concept and cute character animation.

Late Medieval Network Engineer by MisterKeefe 2020-04-19T23:22:49Z

I appreciate the humor and the gameplay was really cool. Would be nice to know what the cards do beforehand but eventually I figure it out and finished the game.

Welcome to paternity by Brice Mahier 2020-04-21T02:20:31Z

Hard to raise a kid and take care of yourself :) Solid entry

Keep it burning! by Kevin Meissner 2020-04-21T00:46:18Z

The graphics are very impressive for a game dev jam. The mouse sensitive was almost unplayable low but it was better with controller. Also great mood.

Mycelium by BlobRoss 2020-04-21T01:26:43Z

The graphics are just gorgeous and the music is pretty great as well. Little unbalanced especially the beginnings. Your really want knock-back shroom and AOE shroom close each other. The fact that you can't reposition the mushrooms once planted makes total sense "lore wise" but it hurts the gameplay in my opinion because if you have a wave from a less defended side you are screwed. The "water" income is very low as well making this little too hard I think. But overall would love to see more games from you.

Blokrok by VerttiXPertti 2020-04-19T23:42:27Z

Such a simple but nice mechanic. Very elegant graphics as well. Solid entry.

The Germinator by eboatwright 2020-04-19T23:10:29Z

Cool art, the gameplay flows really nice. The boss was a little easy put otherwise really nice entry.

Dog Feeder by plantleaf 2020-04-19T22:44:45Z

Poor dog died anyway :( Would be nice to have shortcut for restart. The puzzle is fairly fun.

Power Surge by Marston 2020-04-20T16:09:13Z

I liked the style, could have used little bit more gameplay polish.

Loko by Dinaharison 2020-04-19T23:05:09Z

I like the graphics and feels very polished as well. It would be nice to have a cooldown indicator for spacebar.

Vital Signs by Houdou 2020-04-20T03:12:32Z

Great take on theme, my lack of multi-tasking skills made it very hectic. Love the concept.

Life Ablaze by Gerbo 2020-04-19T22:51:42Z

I kept dying for no reason as far I could say, maybe it has to do with running out of fire essence? I would appreciate a note on that.

Don't Leaf Me by MickeyO 2020-04-20T02:58:10Z

Controls feels little janky but very nice graphics and cute mood.

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Rim of Zitra by Listonos 2020-10-05T01:21:07Z

@ixchow I had previously uploaded a WebGL version that was stuck at 90% because of itch.io and Unity compression not playing along. So depending on when you opened it you have gotten that and maybe retry? Otherwise I have no idea.

Rim of Zitra by Listonos 2020-10-05T01:22:13Z

@seezogames Didn't even think about subtitles, that's a good idea especially with my English. I will keep it in mind for future.

Rim of Zitra by Listonos 2020-10-05T01:23:56Z

@magnusfurcifer Skipping the audio logs past the first listen is totally expected. They are just story/flavor anyway.

TANKNAT by icxon 2020-10-05T22:54:58Z

Awesome entry, had a blast playing. The upgrades are awesome an really satisfying, the gameplay very clean and rewarding as you get better. It took me a while to figure out what was going on with the loop beam. An issue I have observed past level 10 after beating the platform boss I got stuck in a turn and it wouldn't let me continue (every time I would try to navigate a bend it would teleport me/rewind me back a few steps.) Can you win the game out of curiosity?

Debugger by wdebowicz 2020-10-07T01:50:47Z

I really appreciate the meta concept of platforming on the actual game code, that is so cool. Well done.

Arcade Legend by Samuli 2020-10-05T01:04:58Z

Gorgeous art style, simple controls and great atmosphere, I like this one a lot. Little too grindy for my own liking and no music are the only criticisms I have.

Escape the Loop by kittymac 2020-10-06T16:07:57Z

Any multiplayer game for LD will have my instant admiration. This one is also very well polished. Great entry.

Escape the Loop by magnusfurcifer 2020-10-05T01:44:01Z

The physics were little wonky to fully enjoy this, often walls pushing out away unless you had a good momentum. Jumping and slide button mashing helped. Sliding does feel good though if you get used to those issues. Actually finished so good job on getting the most out me as an audience.

Hyperloop by R3L0ad1 2020-10-05T00:32:29Z

I like the style and despite not being a rhythm games fan myself I had fun playing this one.

Stuck in a Portal by Dr_V 2020-10-05T17:28:02Z

I love strategy games so I have enjoyed this one. The progress is pretty slow, keep in mind most people will play for like few minutes. Jumping physics were little wonky.

Bloody Baron by Jegus9 2020-10-05T01:36:20Z

There seems to be an issue with confirmation (Enter) on Windows (perhaps CRLF vs LF) that always prints "Please enter an acceptable integer" and once I typed 22 followed by Enter and the game just freaked out (eating all inputs, waiting for some magical character that wasn't coming is my guess). If you manage to fix some of these issues I would be happy to try it again, I love console games.

Epoch by Fictions 2020-10-05T03:20:40Z

I found this one to have a certain charm to it. Play button desperately needs a hotkey and I didn't quite get why the placement of objects need confirmation. It was interesting that you could either rebuild the scene or just get better at platforming (which is what I often chose). Great entry!

LD47: Stuck in a Loop by Jare 2020-10-05T22:59:08Z

Got to about 100 score, it wasn't clear to me if I need to match the ball color with the wall. But overall fun little action packed trip.

Beatbox Gardener by star-sought 2020-10-05T16:46:58Z

This was for some reason so satisfying and random at the same time. Great music track and I love the plants art style. The idle part fell a little bit short IMO but great entry overall.

Synthætica by ixchow 2020-10-05T02:22:25Z

The fact that you can extended the timeline with the grey box eluded me for quite a while so I was stuck on the second key. It would be nice to auto-extended it when you reach the previous key. Also a slow moving camera is a strange choice. But overall pretty innovative piece and the music is good.

Before It Loops by SeezoGames 2020-10-05T02:30:26Z

Nice clean minimalistic style, I appreciate that. Very simple and just the right length, well done. My only feedback is that you seem to have to re-press the arrows when you die instead of holding them down when you are about to be out of time.

Little Pirate Adventure by Bauke Regnerus 2020-10-05T23:21:54Z

Beautiful art and very nice soundtrack, overall very chill experience, I had fun playing. Loosing all your rum (like 30 of it) to one pirate ship hurt my soul though.

Caught in the music loop by merkisoft 2020-10-05T00:49:14Z

I will also join the camp of being very confused initially how to play (and not reading the description). Clicking the white dots to remove them is not super intuitive. A big reset button would be nice and the fact you finished a level should also stand out more I think. Pretty creative entry in my opinion a rewarding when you get it right.

The Trade Secret by Milestone Games 2020-10-07T01:47:13Z

Very solid point-and-click, I would love to see more of these in LD jams. Interesting story, just the right length and no combine duck with fork non-sense. Good job.

We need to talk by bereg 2020-10-05T16:20:05Z

I saved the marriage, brutal honesty for the win. Got me thinking about my personality for a little bit which is amazing for an LD game so good job. I think slightly more emotional music would underline the atmosphere more. Animations and graphics were pretty good for a 48 hours.

League of Ultranormal Detectives by Ghuyajil 2020-10-05T17:43:30Z

3D game with voice over and this amount of polish is really impressive for a compo game, good job. The next clue after grinding the Q did not work and I couldn't get back despite having a full film. Not sure if I did not photograph the right place/angle and therefore Q was disabled but I was essentially stuck.

Danger Beat by rhoff95 2020-10-05T02:41:15Z

The reward of building up a song instead of some enforced health system is really awesome. The art style goes well with the music. Very nice entry.

Quantum Split by InitialPosition 2020-10-05T03:09:30Z

That last quantum puzzle hurt my brain but I finished the game. Great entry, nice simple aesthetics, innovative gameplay and plays well.

End the Rampage by Nbrowning5 2020-10-06T16:20:20Z

A little harsh at first before you realize you have to just speed run first few loops but afterwards it was pretty thrilling setting up traps hoping the demon is far behind. Very enjoyable experience, good job.

Creatures of the Sky by WiredSound 2020-10-05T17:56:27Z

The transition effect between screen is awesome and the story is pretty cool with great atmosphere. Great entry.

Robot Rescue by Mike Caputo 2020-10-05T02:06:12Z

Managed to finish it, pretty solid entry. especially for a first entry, congratulation! A couple things to watch out for next time, "floating" controls are something that pretty common and should not be that hard to fix. Few audio levels were pretty high, especially for repeating sounds that are not of highest quality it's little jarring. Colliders are usually better smaller rather than larger as you often get stuck around corners.

Robot Rescue by Mike Caputo 2020-10-05T22:14:46Z

@mike-caputo If you let off the movement key the character keeps going for a while, that's what I mean by floating controls just to be clear. It's tricky to get it right to be fair, there is a balance to be found between stopping too soon and stopping too late.

Stuck In A Deck(Web Available) by dadiaogames 2020-10-05T02:54:04Z

As a big fan of cards games and especially dominion I had a blast playing the first game. With the help pop-up I was able to figure out what is going on relatively quickly and escape on my first try. I love it, good job.

Mike.cpp by shan.hsgames 2020-10-05T17:13:32Z

After talking to the dad for the first time and going right I got stuck in the "first room" seeming unable to do anything (leaving screen would not work). Did I miss something? Otherwise cool transition effect and nice music.

Roller Coaster Defender by Lerozante 2020-10-05T00:40:29Z

Pretty steep learning curve, I had trouble finishing the first wave to be honest. The control scheme is definitely fresh but it was little rough to get used to for me. The graphics are good and so is the music.

Time Princess by doomerismo 2020-10-05T20:24:20Z

Very punishing and not that balanced but the concept is great and so are the graphics. I've played way more than I though I would

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Drilling With Dice by KunoNoOni 2021-04-26T09:48:17Z

Great concept but sadly not that much strategy required. Every day is use pairs, reroll, use more pairs, put biggest numbers to processing, reroll, put the rest there and repeat. I ran out of money on day 27. Would love to see more mechanics like for example being able to buy shift one dice skill. Also clicking dice would be much more comfortable instead of drag since there is really just one place to put them.

Deep Descent by Predominant 2021-04-26T06:32:42Z

Reporting high score of 304. This game won't shatter any innovation records but it is fun and looks great. The turning is pretty sensitive on controller but that's half the fun. Sometimes you get stuck on the walls without exploding but also without a way to get out. A reset button that puts you higher up in the middle would be nice. The refuel platform are little wonky as they refuel even from bottom and disappear as soon as you break contact but that's a tiny thing.

Grafa by unpronounceable 2021-04-26T06:44:25Z

Love to see a very thematic card game with standard playing cards especially a single-player one! I did two rounds, scoring 35 and 24. Turns out starting with 3 aces can be prettyyy good. Awesome entry, love it.

Super Drill Boy by rakart 2021-04-26T07:10:26Z

Graphics are impressive and I liked the sounds as well quite a lot. Hit boxes felt little too big sometimes and jumping not that responsive which took some fun out it. The last level is quite hard but I am not that great at platformer.

Morning Shift by Iluvatar 2021-04-26T08:28:17Z

The art is amazing, right out of a commercial pixel art game. I would play more of this game if there was more. The search engine was little underwhelming, was hoping it would have entries for each crystal and you would need to look up more instructions. Story was short but pleasant enough.

Wiki Vortex by impbox 2021-04-26T06:35:20Z

While I have seen similar things before this was still super fun and enjoyable experience. The quests could have been a little harder since I have finished with a lot of lives left. I will probably remember this entry for a while so that speaks volume about how cool it is.

X Feet Under by morphine 2021-04-26T20:35:07Z

A lot of systems for compo entry, very impressive. It doesn't quite have approachability/fun-to-play that I take for granted from Minecraft style games but that's issue on my side most likely.

Monster journal: a short story by Fenderbate 2021-04-26T06:36:51Z

A/D didn't work for me but mouse was fine, though I would prefer keyboard controls. Short but very pretty game. Combat was alright, the swing button mashing little silly. Some variance in monster attacks with charge up effect would go a long way in my opinion.

Bunny Bunny Dig Dig by ZakAmana 2021-04-26T10:47:36Z

The amount of mechanics, art and overall polish is insane for compo. I didn't have as much fun actually playing as I though I would, maybe the digging is a little too slow? But one of the best entries so far.

Octopus Diver by Voxel Forest 2021-04-26T14:52:31Z

Very cute octopus and he looks so happy. I agree that you shouldn't stop if you are holding down mouse button just maybe slow down before the next impulse, it would be a lot smoother.

Blue Eye - Salvage & Rescue by PurpledArtFrog 2021-04-27T12:28:21Z

Nice looking submarine game with a great mood. I had some really annoying popping sounds in the HTML5 version but that could have been on my side.

Bus Crawl by Valid 2021-04-26T07:28:16Z

Really cool idea and the the system is well executed, only the wrench could be easier to spot. Also the graphics are spot on for something like google maps. However I agree there was no decision making, I would love to see some coverage mechanic where you are rewarded for each house that has access to a bus stop within some radius or even one step further weight the distance to a bus stop for each house to determine income.

Onion Dreams by falstro 2021-04-26T06:39:55Z

Made it to depth 8. The reduce vision settles in pretty quickly so it feels little luck based. The graphics are however pretty nice and the jumping animation is the best.

Flower Finder by Retrisma 2021-04-26T10:26:41Z

Very clean art and cool music. A simple platformer but the random generation works awesome and the effect of building the level is really neat.

Elevator Ninja by Loig 2021-04-27T08:38:26Z

I appreciate the LD rocks that was a nice touch. Nice and clean intro, it was super easy to get into it and immediately start playing. I am not that good at fast gameplay so it quickly became not that enjoyable but that's okey. Cool entry.

HYPERTUBE 3021 by Ben Taylor 2021-04-26T08:15:50Z

I've made it to the level 3 and had a lot fun. I would highlight the music and sound effects, that really helped with the mood. I would appreciate some indicator how close you are to the wall before you hit it and the character definitely gets in a way sometimes.

Pretty Flower by ZeppelinGames 2021-04-26T06:39:13Z

The art style is super polished. A shame there were some texture artifacts when the camera was moving. I have seen that happen in Unity before but can't quite remember what it was, maybe that you need an extra pixel between sprites in spritesheet? Cute mood as well. Platformers are hard to get right so that the controls were lacking is expected.

MilCo. by MikoziQ 2021-04-26T06:59:34Z

I really enjoy strategy games so I was excited about this one. I would have love to see more depth, right now get cows until you are rolling in money -> find 30 houses -> win. It looks good though and the sound effects are great.

MilCo. by MikoziQ 2021-04-26T09:29:52Z

@mikoziq I did notice cow unhappiness being a thing so the formula wasn't completely lost on me :)

Lidenbrock by Notinatal 2021-04-26T20:15:46Z

Very simple but also very atmospheric, the screen shake and animations add a lot charm.

Low Pipe by SpaceGuinea Productions 2021-04-27T09:04:20Z

The blood was cool, I am sure you spend a lot of time on that so good job. Otherwise simple game, needs more graphics :)

In Too Deep by RefraX295 2021-04-26T11:51:11Z

Simple but strategy game, finished with score 5684. Better "snapping" would be cool so you can build pipes in straight lines and then obviously more content but hey 48 hours is 48 hours :)

I'm So Deep by liammasters 2021-04-26T07:35:25Z

Sweet idea for a game, the graphics were nice. I would appreciate some hints or directions at what the algorithm that determines the score is looking for. Perhaps some rounds were it has to rhyme, some were the length has to be right, some were you have to include some words and final one with everything would be awesome?

Break your fall by Last Angle 2021-04-26T15:03:38Z

I really appreciate the incoming indicators. Relatively easy game but art style is nice and it's short enough that I didn't get bored.

Who Designed This Ship?! by BhanosTheGameDev 2021-04-26T07:39:46Z

I really wanted to collect the fish at first :) Pretty clean art, would love to see bigger field of view, this way it's kinda hard to avoid the obstacle fish.

Bee Beesness by Anaxie Studio 2021-04-26T21:48:37Z

Lots of things to love, the art and the sounds are awesome. I am pretty sure I have learned something about bees by just playing the game. Reading the itch page is definitely a must, I had no idea what am I doing before.

Couple issues I have noticed, winter honey disappears visually but stays in your counter and I think queen is using the counter not the visuals so essentially winter is free. My queen got stuck in my first run and refused to lay eggs anymore. I think it had to do with going to lay egg just when winter hit. Would love to know if the hive splitting is implemented, I had 4 drones and queen egg ready but nothing happened. And I assume enemies did not make the cut?

Eye will see you down there by vegmuffin 2021-04-26T10:19:35Z

Such a low amount of stamina can definitely make it challenging and not being able to go up is great addition. Pretty simple game with cool graphics.

Deep into the vibe by Ariorick 2021-04-26T11:35:01Z

The spinning effect made it surprisingly hard to dodge before I got used to it, which I apreciace, it's nice a mechanic. Graphics are simple but well made and the music was cool. Nice entry.

LD49 — Unstable

Girl in a red car by Listonos 2021-10-04T08:09:53Z

@iluvatar Wow, 3 out 4 games being text is pretty funny. Thanks for playing and kind words.

@appoxgames I am glad you liked it. It's not for everyone for sure.

@debone There is some story craziness going on that I don't want to spoil so maybe something go messed up with the study, noted. Auto-complete should be working, you just have to press Tab, just like on unix systems. On the off-chance you wanted to give it another go, here is a small hint. There is "inventory" command and you can "inspect" items in it. Edit: I have fixed the study, apologies for that.

Girl in a red car by Listonos 2021-10-04T08:21:00Z

@pinkemma @thegreenworm Thanks for playing and also pointing out the bug. I have fixed it and both living room and study should be enterable again.

Girl in a red car by Listonos 2021-10-05T11:20:48Z

@mikoziq I appreciate the suggestion about localstorage. I have to look into it and saving state for my framework in general. Thanks for playing a great review.

@junjunlowpoly Different negative responses is a great idea, it is such a staple of adventure games. I will keep it in mind for next time. Thanks for playing and great review.

Hexworld by icxon 2021-10-05T11:02:04Z

Had a lot of fun finishing the game. Amazing pixel art and the concept is really cool. It made me wonder if tiles contribute to max population? And do different tiles to different thing? Would love to see even more depth like that. It snowballed a little bit too much for my liking and waiting around for spawn did not seem to have any disadvantage, maybe the tiles could become unstable over time albeit much more slowly. Music was really good as well. Very solid Jam entry.

It will Fall by jeremyfa 2021-10-05T15:40:10Z

Once the balance is even a little bit off it really starts going, very unstable! Not too much replayability but for a day of effort that's already pretty impressive. Good job.

I remember your last LD entry and once again the art is stunning. for going text-less. I was little confused but did manage to finish it. I wasn't huge fan of the controls, small hit-boxes and the movement felt little choppy for some reason. Very short game indeed but the amount of assets makes up for it, at least effort wise  It looks like a very interesting world, I would love to see more of it. I think it would work well for hollow knight style game.

Beep Boop Boba by candlesan 2021-10-05T11:38:20Z

The last level was super hectic! I don't usually play these kind of games but I had a lot of fun playing and finishing this entry. Everything worked smoothly so I could just focus on trying to work in parallel and keep track of orders. I could NOT work in a coffee shop for sure.

I personally didn't struggle too much with what to do, seemed pretty intuitive to me.

My feedback would that the theme wasn't super strong here, unstable could be sold better than one machine breaking randomly. Maybe occasional Death Stranding balancing while travelling? That might be annoying if it happened too often though. Not sure.

Hang in There Until Meetings Are Over by junjunlowpoly 2021-10-04T07:39:40Z

I got promoted by :cat: people! Really cute game, seem pretty polished. Some of the anti-social answers were pretty funny as well. Art of the animals is amazing. The only thing I can think of to note is that there didn't seem much of a system. I basically :two_hearts: almost all cat meetings and if other animals were politely greeting me I would try to give 1  if I could. It would be really cool if different animals react to different style of questions differently and you would have to learn it. For example ducks would get really angry if you refused to help, and squirrels would love to talk about hobbies. Hopefully this not actually already a case and I am just dumb for not noticing it

The Unstable Machine by pinkemma 2021-10-05T11:53:16Z

I love these games with dinglebobs, toggle switches and overall machine operating. This on was a little too stressful for me and, as other pointed out, it throws you right in a crisis and good luck. Still, a nice entry!

Karawan by Rongo Matane 2021-10-05T13:07:20Z

Agree with the game looking gorgeous and music not being half bad either. Got loop hero vibes now thinking about it. It was really hard for me as well.

The main gameplay loop wasn't as fun as expected to me, I think it lies with my impression that the game was stuck between two worlds. Either it is a puzzle game where every step matters and you restart often, on much smaller scale (Into the breach). In that case I would like to see the path forward or at least much larger radius. Or it is a strategy game where it's more about bigger picture (HoMAM). In which case I would like the world to falls apart much more slowly and caravan require less more food. But those are just my impressions, I hope it doesn't come across too demanding.

Still one of the cooler games I have rated.

Karawan by Rongo Matane 2021-10-05T13:46:02Z

@rongo-matane I did see the view range upgrade and used it both my longer tries. For spells, I have used replenish bush once but wasn't too impressed. I haven't made it much further than soon after unlocking those but I am not sure it would made that big of a difference for a new player like me.

I usually just died of starvation if I tried to go faster in general direction of south east or died to tiles falling part if I took my time and collected food. I think not knowing the way and blundering around being too costly was the killer for me. I ended up dying after similar travel distance. There was one forest tile surrounded by mountains that I thought might be the way but by that point I had snake-caravan problem.

Criticality by 3mpty 2021-10-04T11:59:10Z

Very deep game, spent a way more time on it than other games so far. I agree with others that it is kind of hard to get into but I am not sure such advance simulation game could be made easy to grasp without loosing some of its charm. Good choice with making failure really easy to recover from and not being able to loose just promotes experimentations so much.

Operator by skelyvelocirap666 2021-10-04T09:40:05Z

I love me some card games and the setting is pretty cool as well. It has a lot of potential. The power production was not super intuitive unfortunately. I wish there was clearly visible formula between temperature, fuel grade and battery used. If knew I have 10% chance to blow up but I get 3-7 energy I could make calculated risks and that would be a lot fun. I got to like 20 days of steady power but it felt mostly luck based.

Lab Panic! by GibsS 2021-10-04T14:36:36Z

Beautiful pixel art and enjoyable puzzle game. An intro was awesome touch and having levels make it feel very polished. I had a strange loud sound glitch every time I restarted level but other than that, good job.

Dominion by Shootboots 2021-10-04T08:38:54Z

This was a lot of fun! It took me a while to figure out middle mouse is panning map and it made much more sense afterwards  Make one cell big and then rush seems to be the strategy to go for. I would be really curious how does this play in PvP scenario. Really cool game, nice looking and overall very enjoyable.

Domi-No-Mercy by squimmy 2021-10-04T09:10:29Z

Really addicting and fast paced game. I enjoyed playing it a lot. Won all the maps and then some. Trees are pretty dangerous, not a good cover at all  Playing against other players could get very tactical very quickly which shows a cool potential. AI was in my opinion little too easy to beat but hey it's compo and this is super impressive entry. The music got me right into mood and I really liked the table-top war game vibe.

Unstable Mines by AppoxGames 2021-10-04T15:03:29Z

Really fun, I had good times blowing myself up. The graphics are very clean so with all the explosions happening I could keep track of what's happening most of the time. I think I would ramp up the difficulty a little bit slower but that's my only feedback.

Pile Up Medieval by zimny11 2021-10-04T12:19:22Z

Yep, carefully planning is definitely not a way to go  Pretty fun physics, sprites looks good and feels pretty polished.

Download more ram (100% Legit) by NoelOskar 2021-10-04T06:56:14Z

Really cool visuals and I appreciated the humor. Seems really hard though unless I am missing some mechanic? Finding the launch codes is usually quick. But I can't sustain the antivirus ticking while also preventing overheating and even if I do it in bursts it just eventually gets too "unstable". Freezing seems not that useful since it lasts for such a short time. So my strategy was use trash can when chilling, collect heating dudes in the middle and mass select delete and tick antivirus only in bursts. Do I need to git gud?

Autobattler by CodSalmon 2021-10-04T12:33:33Z

Bunch of cyclops and some minotaurs and you have a winning team. Was pretty fun and the sprites look good. A little too big physics impulses so things started to fly around with bigger battles but that didn't feel like something that would make it unfair or anything.

Unshippable by MikoziQ 2021-10-04T06:37:12Z

Really enjoyed the graphics, I have always wanted to learn how to do this exact style. Two container grab is unfortunate since it seemed to happen to me a lot. I was okey without highlight feature, but maybe for longer playing period it would be useful. Music was little too much for me but that's okey. Theme was well executed IMO.

UnStabled by Zackavelli 2021-10-04T08:59:53Z

Had a blast playing and finishing the game. Good depth to the game, very unique idea, art is pretty nice. The hay carts very little problematic since horses would sometimes struggle to pick up the spawned hay and were instead just pushed around by it. Stampede :racehorse: :racehorse: :racehorse: is really cool but also pretty dangerous many horses escaped because of it.

TECHNUCLEAR by TheGreenWorm 2021-10-05T12:07:21Z

I don't necessarily play many rhythm games but I felt like I was getting better with every level so that speaks volumes. What I enjoyed the most and made me audibly say wow is the slow down effect when hitting things, that is such a cool touch.

The visuals were a little for overtop for my liking. The whole tron/bright scifi palette, blooms and chromatic shifts I can dig and really enjoy but I think making it more subtle would make it look even cooler.

The music was fitting and I found myself shooting to the rhythm which is job well done.

VolatileTD by Haydads 2021-10-04T08:02:26Z

Simple but enjoyable little TD game. I enjoyed the simple art style of it. I think a projectiles from towers would got a long way to make it look even better. The repair being hover over only made it much more enjoyable to play with. The theme execution was okey, nothing ground breaking but it made for spin on the classic genre.

Pills by shellofagirl 2021-10-05T12:26:40Z

Welcome to LD, a neat little platformer. Games with an underlying message are always welcomed. Hope you are doing okey  As mentioned before, restart would be nice. The graphics were pretty cool. More mechanics next time and you go yourself cool game.

Made me think of "Statue (The Pills Song)" by Smith & Thell.

Dubious mushrooms by ocwal 2021-10-04T07:09:42Z

Group selfie is a nice touch, looks like you had a lot of fun. Did you by any chance really wanted mushroom theme? I would very much like it as well. The art, especially the mushroom sprites, is awesome. Mood and music was also on point. I would prefer if only one mouse button rotated the scene and the other planted since I often planted by accident. I escaped with a score of 20 and it is fun and cool game. Good job.

UNDERLOD by Rory Kaufmann 2021-10-04T07:23:09Z

Hmm little suspicious indeed. I like the spin on SNKRX but boy does it looks like 1-to-1 clone of it. Coming into ludum dare with a game you have been working on for more than half a year, according to the github repo, is not an awesome move. I think I will leave it without rating unless we get some clarifications.

The Worm by Debone 2021-10-05T11:15:40Z

Welcome to LD, pretty cool first entry I must say. I didn't find the controls hard at all, interestingly. It's a classic hill biking or being on a swing type of control. One sometimes have to go the other direction to get across a big hill. Finished on a second try, first one I died to water. Jumping out sand was very satisfying and that captures the source material so well.

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Dungeon of Forking Paths: Chapter 41 "Undeground Love" by Listonos 2018-04-23T13:31:07Z

@Cryovr Glad that you have enjoyed it.

@ghost-in-the-toast Thanks, I have come prepared this time.

@guyinred97 Yeah kind of sad but kind of fun as well. Thanks

@Fanttum Thanks for reporting Mac works! No time for music unfortunately.

Infernoculus by icxon 2018-04-24T02:08:41Z

Saw one of your blog post and it looked interesting. I must say I was not disappointed. The concept, the graphics, the theme all really good. The AI seems to have a bit of an edge (hitting way more than I am) but elimination of opponents seems to be way to go.

Elite Beat Zombygons by Archimagus 2018-04-24T02:50:49Z

That's pretty amazing, feels so good once you get into the beat and just move and shoot. It's little bit too hard for me, I guess I am not musical enough, but I had a lot of fun. Also very polished graphics and obviously awesome music.

The Magical Caster Card Gun by Fanttum 2018-04-24T00:02:27Z

Finished as well, got fairly into it so good job you made fun game. Agree with some others that the card part did not meant much in the end, just CDs.

PE@CE by bwalter 2018-04-23T02:46:50Z

I've enjoyed the art style and had a good feel to it. Challenging as would one expect from this game genre.

CONFESSIONAL by Rodrigo Denúbila 2018-04-23T21:45:45Z

Pretty gruesome game with nice graphics and mood. I was going to disagree on the claim that it combines 1st and 3rd perspective but the more I think about it the more I have to agree that it actually does. Not huge fan of meaningless torture, I think I would need more backstory to appreciate it.

Harvest Doom by Fiote 2018-04-24T02:41:19Z

Reached level 60, it's very challenging especially at start. Attacking your own towers/walls seems like unfortunate design since wanting to destroy them comes only way later and mostly just walls. Loved the graphics and mood. Could be a little easier IMO but I had fun

Ace Golf: Blade Brawlers by elHombreBanana 2018-04-25T00:29:39Z

Pretty fun game, the AI was clueless at times so nut much strategy need but it was action-packed enough to keep me on my toes.

Twine Walker by RockhopperGames 2018-04-23T01:53:20Z

Definitely interesting concept and you are right, trying to read the stories is so awkward. I think some kind of reward for going through the stories might have been good?

Citizenship++ by Andrew Castillo 2018-04-24T00:58:16Z

As much as I love terminal games, it just way too slow. Maybe I got unlucky but 80% IPs I have connected to were Beta. Props for having arrow history a man pages, helps a lot, but I think you would need one more functionality and that's tab auto-complete for ips in order for the game to be fun at least from start. I will say fantastic visuals and feel to it. If you happen to add auto-complete or make a post-jam version with better scaling I would love to explore the scripting engine part.

DUNK EM UP! by lukbebalduke 2018-04-23T02:01:30Z

I was kind of expecting it from following your posts but still, it sooo satisfying to dunk the mushrooms. It's also get fairly challenging very quickly. Props for the graphics and animations, they are beautiful.

Fifty Card Crawl by ghost-in-the-toast 2018-04-23T23:33:14Z

Did not manage to get to the bottom of the deck, I think you have to be very lucky to do so. These kind of games I think need to be on the easier side. But anyway nice graphics, easy to grasp and fairly relaxing.

Secrets of the Forest by DevEmil 2018-04-24T00:34:59Z

I have done a few terminal games in the past and it definitely helps a lot if you have last command shortcut, like say up arrow puts the last command on the screen again. Anyway found the treasure, cute graphics, nice idea for combining genres.

Turn-Based Invaders from Space! by HacksawUnit 2018-04-23T02:30:06Z

Can't really get past 5 or so but I like this genre combinations. I wish there we upgrades or at least a way to send the enemy up.

Shoot-E-Pet by blearn 2018-04-25T00:33:52Z

Interesting idea and with a bit of polish (wonky collision system, more feedback about actions, etc.) it could be cool game.

TURBOSTUNTS by GerardB 2018-04-24T00:43:37Z

Where can I get the windows version? I don't see a link on itch.io.

TURBOSTUNTS by GerardB 2018-04-24T01:16:55Z

The car is way too responsive when turning at high speed making it really hard to maneuver and gravity, or lack of thereof, behaves weird IMO. On the other it's very pretty and cool pump up soundtrack.

Dungeon Drifter by TwinGhosts 2018-04-23T02:58:17Z

Finished it. Took me a little bit to figure out you have to outpace the melee enemies. Fairly effect tactic seems to staying at one border and speed up when enemy is spotted. Not sure what the slow special arrow does.

Anyway fun little game with okey graphics. Could use more of that RPG element (leveling up, skill trees, etc.).

The quit button at the end does not work btw.

Modern Art Critic Hero by jeplmr 2018-04-23T03:07:58Z

Agree with some of the others above more voice effects would be very much welcomed. Otherwise pretty funny even if not for long.

Tetratower by kokirisandfriends 2018-04-25T00:40:51Z

I would have trouble with one tetris, let alone two of them. Very challenging but pretty looking with nice animations.

Modern Fairway 4: Spec-Ops in the Rough by Lost Dutchman Software 2018-04-25T01:10:16Z

Really really good concept, I am sure to mention there was a crazy game about play golf with automatic rifles when someone asks about this LD. The gunplay was spot-on, the only complain being very high sensitivity. The music fit fairly well, though got old little bit too quickly.

Shoot bullets in my head while I play golf by FabianLC 2018-04-25T00:11:51Z

There is bullet hell and there is this game. Nice idea though. Things to improve mud slows down way too much, charging while moving and many less bullets :)

Dangerous Fields by Gavin Camlin 2018-04-23T02:15:31Z

The idea is cool and graphics weren't too shabby either. I wish there was a way to buy health back.

Overcharged by Cryovr 2018-04-23T21:59:41Z

It was definitely fun for a while. I must praise the graphics above all else.

World of WarPETS - LD41 by neuronezero 2018-04-24T00:41:08Z

I might be missing something and apologies if I am, but there does not seem to be any point to the game. The health bars don't move, clicking the UI does seem to make the turtle do stuff sometimes but nothing really comes out of it. It's more of animation really.

Your Turn To Jump by Jequed 2018-04-24T00:16:25Z

Not sure if I was doing something wrong but I had to hit the Restart action once in a while because I was running of mana and potions were not enough. Otherwise nice that you explored the concept of turn based platform and I never have to place that type of game again because man the controls are not fun after a while. Props for remembering your last choice otherwise it would be even worse :)

Gorytale by zivs 2018-04-25T00:05:39Z

Taps into that satisfying destruction of cute nice things very well. One thing I would improve is having more and more difficult levels which would make it more rewarding IMO. Thumbs up for well polished artwork and pump-up soundtrack.

READY SET DRESS! by SHINBAXTER 2018-04-25T00:19:32Z

Love it, such a good execution from graphics, animation all the way to music and sound effects. Very well captured style of slot machine games. Little unclear you are supposed to dress left from right but I have figure it out eventually.

Lost at Sea Raft/Base Defense/Farm Game by guyinred97 2018-04-23T23:42:53Z

Did not manage to equip any item in what I assume are the highlighted spots :( I am happy to revisit this if you tell me how/fix it.
