Nice game!
Very fun to play. A good retro looking game focus on the essentials ;)
Excellent game. One of the best I played among LD32 entries so far! Good job
I needed some time to understand how to play, but then after that it was fun to play!
Interesting mechanics. I like it a lot. Too bad it's getting very hard starting from level 3 :(
Good idea the microphone. Probably something to pursue :)
Original game! I like the graphics and the sound!
Good idea!
It really reminds me of setting up these very old game consoles :). That means the experience is working!
I honestly think the most interesting part of the game is this "set up" part. In my opinion you could go much further with this idea, like "level 1: set up an atari console", then "level 2: set up an old nintendo but you need to plug it with an adapter to make it work with your grand mother TV", it gets harder and more complex at each level etc...
Unable to run the game on my macbook pro :(
Pretty difficult, but I like the game mechanics. I feel so bad to have killed all these little fellow! O_o
Still, it works! That's better than nothing at all :). There will be other occasions to be more ambitious!
I like the simple graphics, they look nice, but did not succeed to destroy any opponent I believe :(
I like the overall mood of it. A nice story to complement the game could make it pretty good.
I could not make the game work on my mac :'( Looks good though
I love it! Simple but good enough to be addictive :D.
The hard version is pretty interesting!
@leondryaso Ah right :D Unfortunately I was running out of time so could not go further. I hope I will find some time to continue the story :)
@Aree Vanier Thanks! I will check out "Zork" :)
@Vaiaphraim Yea, I hope I can improve the puzzles on an updated (post-jam- version :)
@csanyk Yea, as mentioned in the description, the story is far from being finished. Ideally, it would need much more "branches", but that goes beyond this LD :)
Needs some improvements to make the gameplay smoother, but not bad for a compo entry!
Nice game! I had fun playing it, even though my time is just 49.91 :P
My turtles don't listen to anything :P More seriously, it may be a good idea to try to make the interface simpler, with less information at the same time. I don't know were to look at when playing the game at the moment!
Nice interpretation of the theme! Would have been easier with keyboard key reminders directly on the screen, but I still enjoyed making some music :).
Very good idea! Found it a bit difficult though. I felt sometimes that whatever I do, some ships will pass through.
Atmostphère is a bit mysterious. I like it.
There is some work to be done on the camera and gameplay itself as we don't really know what to do at the moment!
Could be a good start to make something nice though!
A pity that the asteroid doesn't look like the rest and that we don't actually see the drilling. Maybe an improved version would solve these?
I love the illustrations. Game mechanics could be improved to be less confusing. It seems like I'm just doing the same thing continuously, hoping something happens with the dinosaurs. Interesting still!
The graphics are very nice and original. A pity I could not figure out how to actually play it! :o
The music is nice, the graphics are good too for low poly style. But the controls are pretty hard.
I would rather provide some very simple controls to move right or left, remove the need to control the plane angle etc... ie. make the control more 2-dimensional, even if the space is 3D.
An interesting entry overall :)
Nice game that totally fits the theme! The music is nice, even though it doesn't make me think so much of how dangerous the forest with monsters could be ;)
Very funny game! I like the sounds, especially the last one xD. Game is a bit too difficult in my opinion. Making it easier could probably make us enjoy it a bit more! Good entry!
@strupf Yes, I actually though about making graphics for the commands, but the graphic need to work on every direction. It's not like an "arrow going down" like in Chuchu Rocket. But I agree, will need to think about how to make it more readable in a "post-ldjam" version :)
@webox You need to use the mouse, and click on the map ground and it will put the command 1, then command 2 etc...
@team-prosit There is actually a tip in some levels when you lose :) But maybe it should be even more clearer!
@oddarock I agree, it would be a better idea to see the begin setup of the puzzle when we lose. That's definitely an improvement to do in a post-ldjam version!
@ellenary Yes, it's not easy to find the right level of guidance in the game. I chose to display a tip in some levels when we lose them so that it gives a chance to the player to find out by himself on a first try :)
@01010111 There are so many things I didn't have the time to try during these 48h, so yes, really eager to dig deeper with the concept and see where it goes :)
@celia14 Thanks! The colors are already used to define targets: red needs to go to red goal, green to green goal etc... it could be an option to associate one behaviour with one color, but that means colors would have multiple meanings that overlap each other, but why not?
@aurel300 Thanks for the feedback! Indeed I didn't have time to exploit much of picking up instructions to reuse them, as well as a couple of other ideas I didn't expand yet. I will work on a more complete version in the future anyway, with way more levels and polish than what could be done within the 48h compo time frame!
Nice mood! I did not manage to get past the third level at the moment, but the chain of reactions is neat!
Well polished entry! I had a little bug where I both completed a level and had game over (after falling down at the end of the first level), but nothing very bad though :). I like the graphics a lot!
Very good entry! I love the mix of puzzle with story, and the whole thing makes sense: story talks about the connection which is the puzzle part etc... Graphics are minimalist yet very clean. Excellent job!
Good surprise! Easy to understand and pick up, which is a good quality in a game. Nice work!
Graphics, mechanics, audio. Everything is great and well polished in this game! Excellent entry!
You seem to have put a lot of work in it, nice job! Maybe some screens could deserve some more explanations, I was a bit lost! Nice pico-8 entry though ;)
Graphics are minimalist yet very good. The whole game seems well polished and easy to understand. I had one failed attempt because before the first level I purchased a new slot instead of equiping one of my "sides", so could not defend myself at all! But I understood quickly and tried again :) Overall the game looks solid, well done!
Wow, it's hard :'( But the idea of being stuck in a window mess is very cool and has a lot of potential. Graphics are neat! I wish it was easier to understand how things works, what button does what etc... Nice entry overall good job!
Very good take on the theme. I enjoyed the sometimes absurd dialogs. It makes it very funny (even if we are talking about a guy who threatens to blow the city up! 😅 )
I agree with somebody else advising to put the clown inside a car. That could have compensated the lack of animation. That said the game mechanic itself is a nice idea and can definitely be explored further! Well done given the very short time frame!
A very good compo entry! Even if I am not very good at it! I could not get past level 2, but I will try again, I want to save the plant! ;)
It definitely got some Papers Please vibes, in a more happy way maybe, with the music and so ;) Looks neat and well executed, even though it's not so easy to understand what we have to do with the ciphers. Nice entry!
I tried to "cut legs" but it didn't let me! Well done!
Very cool retro style! The idea of being a battery to keep charged and having to chose what to do with your power is cool because it is simple to understand. Maybe the controls are a bit too rigid, difficult to say why, but that's not a major issue. Very good entry!
Pretty original and meta game. Simple display but well done. Nice entry overall!
Nice entry! Maybe the character should be able to move faster, because sometimes it feels that no matter how good you play, you will get hit by bullets! Good job overall!
Nice entry! I like how it evolves with more minions. It could be improved by making the arrows area more forgiving. In the first level, it was quite difficult to walk into the arrow in the wall. Overall pretty cool game
Cool work! Some random feedback: using the same resolution for every sprite image could make the game look a bit nicer. Well done overall for the very short time frame!
Nice take on the theme!
Great entry (even though the love is fading quickly in the game :'( ) ! I love the running animation and the overall mood. Very well done!
We get into the story very easily. The audio fits well. Nice entry!
Quite a lot of content for such a little jam game! Design is very simple but it works :). I would suggest to try adapt display of each part of the interface to make them more recognizable and more readable though. Congrats on your first full game!
Very cute game! I like the little details like playing a different sound when moving the mouse over the menu. Controls could be improved in my opinion, having to drop shovel, get seed, drop seed, get shovel etc... I believe it would be more ideal to be able to keep everything we pick inside an inventory and have a button to switch which tool/seed to use. Nice work overall!
What, only 300 of us will survive the current pandemic?! Nice game anyway. Regarding graphics, I wished the stars were moving a bit, but I get that it may not be easy to get right. The ship animations are neat!
Oh, too bad there is not a web build, I want to try this so much!
@reddashgames yup I am on a mac. I will be able to try your game using Shadow (remote windows computer for gaming), but obviously that's a bit less convenient than clicking on a web link and directly play in the browser, I guess I am lazy :)
Haha it gets so wild when we progress levels. Nice entry. Pretty simple concept but it works instantly! I am sure it could be a great mobile game with more polish. And Haxe is great ;)
I can't manage to pick up and use the weapons, but the graphic style is pretty cool!
@k4v0x Yes I have read that it should fire automatically, but it didn't. I guess I did not equip the weapon, there is probably something I did not understand
I love the retro graphics! The game title, the frozen wave etc... A bit difficult to understand what we can do though. Very good move overall still!
The idea is good although it seems that whatever how good we play, we will get hit by the enemies very quickly. It could be improved by balancing the difficulty, making it more rewarding. That said nice work within the very short time frame!
Pretty hard but very fun! Nice entry that give a will to retry again and again!
Cool puzzle game with a small and funny story to follow and progressive difficulty. Wondering how far it goes. I guess at some point you may be limited by th size of the grid, but maybe it can be improved with bigger grids? Very good entry anyway!
@mickgerritsen You're welcome! Actually I am just thinking that another way of expanding the concept could be, on bigger grids, to add walls
@mickgerritsen Puzzle games are pretty popular on mobile, so, with more polish and content, why not?
Very good mood! I was actually pretty scared by the spider. Makes me think a lot about Limbo for sure. Regarding graphics, I believe the eyes on the main character are not necessary. They are not consistent with the overall style in my opinion. Sticking on shapes and minimalist style is good in itself. Well done!
The game kind of makes me care about the alien, which is, I guess, a good point! Good point choosing a way to make fast graphics. It works anyway :)
I managed to go to the attic, change light bulb and a gather a lot of bananas, but now I'm a bit stuck.
That said, the mood is great, the overall (text) game looks good and React seems like a good fit for that!
Other people said it, but being able to save progress would be very useful for that kind of game, and probably easily achievable using localStorage.
Nice game!
Very smart use of emojis. The game has good polish for a compo entry and is pretty easy to understand. One suggestion could be to play more with scale/rotation of the different characters when they get hit to make the action a bit more punchy, but there is already so much going on on screen so good job overall anyway 🐸 !
Cool game! The idea of having an unstable weapon is great! The game also looks good with a variety of graphics. If I had to make a suggestion, it would be to show more clearly that the weapon is unstable, like showing "weapon malfunction - changing mode" in the hud when it changes behaviour for example, but overall it's a great compo entry, well done!
Cool entry! I enjoyed moving around to save people. As mentioned above, would have liked more levels, but I understand you did what you could in 48H anyway :) Good job!
@reccy The feeling is mutual ha ha.
@listonos Yes, there is definitely some work to do on replayability. I'd also like to expand the concept to ensure a player can do some kind of combos to consume the pieces and keep the platform from being full. Probably some post-ldjam thing to do :)
@aeveis Wow, great score lol. Your strategy is probably the best so far. I'll have to find ways to twist the mechanics in some post-jam version to improve the replayability.
That's nice to see similar take on the theme. My own compo entry is based on a pretty similar idea, but different execution ;) Anyway this is a neat game with good and easy to understand mechanics, well done!
This entry is lovely. The animations are simple but very well executed. The music matches perfectly. I was expecting some more game mechanics in addition to the narrative but the cuteness of the fish and the overall mood compensate that! Would be very curious to see what it could look like if pushed further than a ldjam entry
Very good work! The game is easy to understand thanks to the tutorial. The story and voice acting is also nice. Eventually my reactor became too unstable because I wasn't fast enough to hammer & tape 🥲. Well done!
I love the plot of the horse pretending to be a human with a human mask to get a job!
The game is well executed and it's easy to understand the mechanics. Maybe it's a bit hard, or maybe I'm just very bad at it.
Overall I enjoyed the mood. This is a fun entry, well done!
I agree with @skleembof that the main downside of the game is that you have to learn by trial and error instead of challenging your skills. That said the game is well executed and the graphics are neat!
The sound effects are also hilarious xD I liked that!
@kumber Spatial memory is definitely a good mechanic! I would suggest to have a way to see the traps prior to falling into it. For example, at the beginning of the level you can see the traps for 5 seconds then you have to remember when you walk. The only issue is that currently you need to die to get some information about the terrain, which is kind of a harsh punishment that you cannot avoid as a player.
The game looks good and well polished, but I can't manage to get past putting the first ingredient. I put tentacles then everything else is grayed out and I am stuck everytime. Am I missing something obvious?
Very satisfying mechanics! I enjoyed jumping around. The progression is well done, starting from a simple example then slowly adding new elements.
Overall it's pretty easy to understand what to do and fun to play.
In addition, the music is nice, the graphics as well.
Fun and well polished entry, well done!
Nice take on the game! This is good work for a 48h compo entry. The game is easy to understand and didn't find any particular bug. Some suggestions: having some kind of timer could add more challenge to the levels. The idea could also probably be expanded further by adding different kind of bridges too, like rotating bridges, bridges that will fall after some time anyway (forcing you to favor a path over another etc...). Overall, there are some good foundation to make a very fun post-jam game, well done!
Very cute game! I like the idea of having additional controls to solve the levels. Unfortunately I did not manage to open that door and got stuck. Would be interested to see how that game would be if pushing the concept further. Good job!
I like the simple graphics and the music/sounds. To be honest I didn't really understand what I was doing but apparently I did produce some energy? The mood is good and probably the experience would be more enjoyable if things were a bit easier to understand, like with a step by step tutorial instead of the text one (but you probably didn't have enough time for that, which is OK for a compo entry). Good job ☢️ !
Nice little game! I finished it to the end. It was fun to do. The messages in between were sometimes good clues to help how to solve the next level. I would be curious to see how a post-jam version with improved graphics and audio would look like but you did a very good job already as a compo entry 👍
I liked the graphics and the music, and the idea of an unstable potion is very accurate with the theme! I did not manage to last long without the potion to explode though 😭🧪💥
@yorsh Sure, there is no problem with the difficulty! I actually chose hard mode very quickly to have more challenge. I'm more thinking about finding ways to add variety, like maybe not only play with speed of typing, but with rythm of typing for example: someone telling you the letters in a specific rythm, and you need to follow that rythm etc... But of course that would go belong this ldjam entry :)
Edit: ahah my bad I mixed up your comment with another game I rated also about potion (https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/49/$269058). You must have wondered if what I’m saying does make any sense 😆. I’ll have to try again your game to last longer anyway!
Very fun game!
Pros - Good and neat graphics - Ending with the exploding house is great, made me laugh - Music & Sounds - Easy and straightforward to understand, good job on that!
Cons - Not really a con, but wishing something different would happen when we go further in the game, like having some twist in the gameplay at some point which makes the typing challenge evolve with a different metric than just the length of the words
Overall it's impressive and fun work for a compo entry, well done!
My horse was mostly flying, which is was a quite original experience!
It's hard 😓. Did not manage to reach the end. I have been wondering if there is a way to escape from a guard once he sees us as we can see him move towards us. Maybe there could be something to do regarding this in a future version? Good job anyway!
Nice and original entry! The depth of the game is pretty good for a compo. I also liked the music (and also like to make music on an iPad by the way :D).
An issue I had: - when playing the game fullscreen: the content was cropped.
Well done anyway!
A nice take on the theme! Having a buggy mobile OS to manage your survival sounds like a nightmare ha ha. The game looks great. I did try it on the computer but will follow your advice to try another run from a phone. Well done!
Good and solid entry! It was somewhat difficult to get used to the controls (would have expected space to jump maybe), but once I got used to it it was fun to play. Well done!
Nice puzzle platformer game! It was a good idea to add tutorial info right onto the walls. It makes it easy to pick up the controls. The progression of difficulty is also pretty good, but I'll have to try the game again to go further as I didn't reach the end. The music was also good! Good job!
I liked the idea of playing with mood/emotions to change the gameplay mechanics.
The game could deserve some small tutorial session where at least we are shown once that fear of another character makes you move horizontally very fast etc... But you mentioned that you barely finished on time so there's that!
Nice entry overall!
Nice concept! I didn't get it right away but then once you understand what you have to do, it's fun to play. A bit hard though 😅 Would be nice to see how you could develop the idea on a post-jam version? Well done anyway!
Nice little game, which was a little hard for my skills but fun overall! The dialogs are adding a bit to the mood too which is good. Well done!
Overall mood of the game it great and seem to have put a lot of work into it, the voice acting, the 3D environment, the music! The camera shaking all the time, however, is not a very pleasant experience in my opinion, although it matches the theme 😅. Great job overall!
Wow, this is a nice one!
I really liked the idea of only seeing footprints. It makes the whole thing mysterious. I could imagin the idea to be pushed even further in a more complete game.
The piano is also very well put and adds a nice touch to the immersion.
The only downside experienced is that I would have wanted to be able to control where I look, with the mouse. I understand that its probably the point to not be able to choose where you watch, to make you feel the dizziness, thirst etc... But maybe that feeling could have still been translated into some twisted mouse control?
All in all this is an excellent compo entry. Amazing job!
Fun and good take on the theme!
Others have mentioned it already, but it would probably be a good thing to limit the number of objects we use to build the bridge or at least make it affect a score (ranks C to S for example).
Would also have expected to "die" if I fall on the ground, because otherwise there is a way to kind of cheat :D (see screenshot below).
Anyway this is a good compo entry overall, with a good foundation that you can improve in a post-ldjam version :)
Capture d’écran 2021-10-13 à 14.03.11.png
I didn't understand right away how to play, but once I did it was nice to play. I would have preferred that we can hold the left mouse button as long as we want to aim instead of seeing the eye ball go after a delay, and maybe a bit less screen shake, but overall it's a good compo entry so well done!
Very complete game for a jam entry! I enjoyed playing it and I can see how it could be more "speedrun" oriented indeed. The controls are a bit uneasy though, especially the fact that you need to stop moving to activate a spell (because the 123 keys are just above WASD and need the same hand). But overall that's an amazing entry for such short time!
This is not included in the above prototype, that was an unfinished attempt to create a more advanced level ⬇️
casse-tete-gif.gif
Some useful mechanics were missing to actually create a usable level though, but nothing I could implement within the jam time frame, so hopefully that will come in a post-jam version!
Damn it looks great, it sounds great too! This is quite impressive. The tile screen rocks too! I really enjoyed the style of the game. Pretty hard though, but as you said you didn't do much balancing. Well done!
The music and the sounds perfectly match the mood of the game, and the graphics are good too! The fact that each animal behaves differently is also nice, although it can be quite difficult to understand at first how to control them. Maybe an improved version of the game could be composed of series of multiple levels per animal so that you can start simple and learn the mechanics first, and then move to more difficult levels with the same animal? Great game overall!
Nicely done, although as other said, the map is pretty big and we get lost easily :'(
The game mechanics are a bit hard to grasp but it was fun to move the ship around. The graphics and the audio are great to, good job!
I really enjoyed the mood and the graphics! Unfortunately I was a bit overwhelmed by the mechanics and didn't really understand what to do :( I guess this issue could definitely be addressed in a more polished version you can work on later though: unlock the mechanics one by one and kind of guide more the player at the beginning? Anyway good job 👏
Cool and funny game! I agree with some other that there should be some feedback when you finish a level. Right now we don't know if we won or lost because the game doesn't tell. Nice entry anyway!
I really enjoyed that game. It's very generous in content for a 2-person JAM entry, and most importantly fun to play, amazing work!
The game is seriously beautiful, and the mechanics are also very well executed. That's a solid entry and I love it! My only feedback would be that the game would be easier to understand if it was split into several levels, starting very minimal and simple, with only a single button that you can switch between 2 states, then getting on a second level with an additional challenge (new elements to harvest or not to harvest, a second button that does something new on the machine etc...). But obviously that would require a lot more work that probably wouldn't fit in a JAM time frame. For a post-jam version however? That would be cool!! Outstanding work, well done!
The mini-tutorial about controls was nicely done! That said the fact that the character is using the weapon automatically can be a bit confusing. Maybe some visual feedback when losing health would help the clarity of the game too? The vegetables graphics are fun :D Overall, nice work for such little time!
Nice entry! The graphics are pretty good, although we would have wished to see the character actually walks and be seen from different sides when it moves around 😢, and the visuals would benefit from more consistency (the character resolution and the moving veggies have a different resolution than the rest of the elements). Anyway the digging and then catching running veggies is pretty cool, as well as the audio, good job!
Wow, farming has become even tougher, you can get killed by crows now 😂! Anyway that's a nice entry and the game loop works well, good job!
Nice entry! The spooky mood is there with the graphics and the music! Easy to understand gameplay loop and as other said forcing the player to move around to reload "ammo" was smart :)
It's nice to finally try the game after following its development during the WE :) ! I enjoyed the mood, the audio and the graphics! I didn't really know what was the goal of the game though, but overall it gave me good vibes of slow-paced games where the world starts to work autonomously on its own! This was already mentioned but I agree that the grab tool should act exactly at the location where we click. Curious to see how this could evolve into a full-featured post-jam game, good job!
I was like "oh no my alien got killed it will be game over again!", but to my surprise I could then control another alien "created" before. That's a good idea! Solid entry overall, good job!
The game doesn't seem to start, it even froze my Chrome app for a while 😢
@memo2 Ah, that's because I'm on a mac I see :( I tried to download the dmg on itch, but for some reason the download doesn't start either... well... I may try again later
This looks like a different take on toodee & topdee :D The graphics and movements are really nice. I wish I managed to get further though, as I just kept dying instead of reaching the platform xD
We can see the hard work you managed to put in the game and its graphics so kudos to that! Unfortunately the difficult controls coupled with "not enough fuel" made it quite hard for me. I guess it would just need some more polish to tune better the mechanics though. Great job anyway!
@grid96 My wife just told me the same thing about ChatGPT. I didn't think at all about this when doing it actually. Just went for the most simple shape (and I'd argue 2001 A Space Odyssey's HAL takes precedence on "round shape talking to you" anyway :D). And luckily, I'm feeling much better those days. Maybe I'll take the time to include that part in a more complete version of the game later :)
@sevatoxin @badpinkchicken Thank you!
@dzejpi Sure, I'll ping here if I make a more complete version of it! (I'd like to eventually). And you're right, audio would make a big difference for that kind of game I totally agree. Wanted to include some already, but ran out of time unfortunately...
@xpoho yes, unfortunately my case is not really an isolated one. I heard there are different degrees to it. For me, the first months did hit really hard, which was pretty disturbing, but I consider myself lucky to feel better now!
@captandrey Actually the overlap is somewhat intentional: it fits well with the described situation of having difficulty to have clear ideas and thoughts, although it could probably be improved visually to make it feel less like a bug maybe
@aweskybear yeah there can be a good load of reasons that lead to these symptoms. In my case, I know for a fact that it’s directly linked to covid (and it didn’t happen the first time I had it, but the second time). Another disturbing fact was that all the tests I did were literally not showing any problem: perfect blood pressure, perfect blood test, MRI of brain just fine… regarding coffee, didn’t have time to go far enough in the story, but it happens to be one of the key elements that helped me recover. Too bad I was avoiding it « just to be safe » during the first month 🙃
@rack47 Ah ah yes, pretty happy with how the doctor-triangle ended up!
@knarf I’m not a coffee expert and it probably varies between persons, but as far as I’m concerned, in 2021 I stopped coffee for a while because I had stomach issues at the time, and got back to it after one month of post-covid symptoms in 2022, and it contributed a lot to recovery (among other actions taken), despite initial clues and assumptions that it would make things worse (which is reflected in the compo entry here). Didn’t stop coffee ever since, but the quantity is reasonable (2-3 cups a day). I wouldn’t share this as medical advice though, as each situation is different. It’s just what worked out for me. Also, I like coffee in general :)
Whoa, I really love that one! The game looks very polished, the mechanic is simple yet a very good one for puzzles, and both graphics & audio are good. Congrats, that's one of the best COMPO entries I tried so far!
The game is a bit hard to understand at first, but at some point I figured out the puzzle mechanic and advanced a bit in the rooms. I really like the overall mood. The music is fitting well and makes me uncomfortable enough xD. I'd say the part that might be the least fun is that you spend a lot of time walking back and forth. For such game where thinking about the puzzles matter the most, I would prefer the characters movement to be more fast paced so that the time to go to some room is not an obstacle to your puzzle resolution thoughts. Great job and on the lighting too :D Overall that's a solid compo entry!
Very cool and innovative mechanic, as well as good execution implementing it! Maybe a bit too easy once we understand how to play it, would have liked some more sense of progression in the gameplay, but that's an impressive job for a COMPO entry regardless, great job!
It's amazing what you managed to do within the COMPO time frame. As a big fan of NMS, it was nice to be able to walk inside an actual ship, and the voice over was a good addition for the immersion. That voice over would make us want to have a more narrative version of No Man's Sky :D I think the overall visuals are very coherent and give a nice mood. Got very bad at harvesting components unfortunately, but outstanding job anyway!
Not gonna lie, I love the sound of that rock falling :D. I think you got a very cool mechanic, but it's currently not easy to grasp because it requires more die-and-retry logic than actual sense of rhythm to get right imho. Maybe presenting things a bit differently could improve that, although I don't have a direct answer or suggestion to that. Regardless, the idea seems to have potential, the graphics are great, so that's an outstanding COMPO entry!
Damn, it's hard xD I though Dash wasn't working, then understood from a comment here you need to find it in the level, which I finally did. Didn't go very far because I'm not very good at it, but that's a good COMPO entry! One minor thing: the WASD keys won't work on a non-qwerty keyboard. Ideally, to solve that, you'd need to use keyboard layout-independant codes (scan code) instead of key codes, but I don't know how that translates with the engine you are using. Nice job anyway!
You did what you could within the time, but honestly, a more polished version of that, with that same aesthetic and base mechanic? I'm in! The core concepts are working. I was afraid controls would be difficult, but the very simple in-game tutorial made them easy. Nice entry, which would make us want to see of more complete version of it  UI is alright too!
Wished to see more, but the mood is good, especially the music! A bit text heavy maybe as well for me, as mentioned above, but still remarkable for a compo entry!
That game is very cute, I reached the ending! The level design is good too :) I'm just wondering about the overlap between one of the animals that jumps higher and the magnet that just makes every animal jump higher. You probably thought about it already, and maybe just didn't have time to implement it (which is totally understandable for a COMPO entry), but ideally, I would have loved to have the magnets replaced with power ups that improve each of the animal capabilities, instead of having one single generic "jump higher" from the magnet, but again, this would probably fit better outside of a 2-days game jam and I'm sure you did what you could during the available time. Great job!
I enjoyed the unreal-quake vibes. The very simple meshes for guns and landscape are alright for me. So alright that I kinda wished the ennemies would be blocky too, so they fit more with the visual style globally. You managed to do a lot in a very short time anyway, good job!
Nice writing! I do have some feedback: I think the game could maybe be better if, instead of the die-and-retry logic that makes you go through text again and again after making a mistake, you would instead unlock the right choices only when you went through the proper related dialogues that gave you the clues. In other words, I'd rather think about the story as a labyrinth that is less punishing to the player (but doesn't have to be any less engaging) than as a die-and-retry game, which can be frustrating, at least for me. Of course that's just my feeling and maybe you'd not want to do that anyway which is ok. Regardless, the mood and story seem to have good potential, good job!
I wanted to try your game, but it only shows a black screen (and birds sounds) :( Let me know if that get fixed! (tested on Google Chrome from Mac)
I finally played it! It's a nice little game about self introspection. The idea could probably be digged deeper (no pun intended) to add more depth (no pun again!) to the choices. Like, what if each answer the player makes was leading to a different question, so it makes the series of questions act like actual tree branching? Sure that would require more work as it's a lot more combinations to manage, but that's just random thoughts here. Good job overall anyway :D
I could buy a complete game with that core mechanic. Great COMPO entry, good mix of fun and tension!
The main mechanic of the game is clear and easy to understand. I like the music too! I guess it could become even more engaging with some more polish beyond the COMPO time frame, maybe by making the pace more juicy, and amplifying the rewards when going deeper, because that's not obvious at the moment. Great entry anyway (especially in 23 hours)!
I'm sorry I finally gave up after dying too many times, because starting over again and again is quite harsh. Apart from that, this is a great entry. The game feel is very nice, the music fits well and I like the simple and colorful graphics too. I don't think you are very far from making this reaaallly fun so good job!
Cute little game, that is actually informative. But wait, what was that thing at the bottom xD. Anyway, I like the way you implemented the sonar. I guess a more complete game could add some more challenge to it but that's a great COMPO entry, good job!
Well, this is the story of my life, thank you, I can definitely relate to it xD. The music is definitely accurate with the mood. Although it can feel a bit repetitive at some point (but maybe that's what it is in real life, you just juggle between various obligations etc. and not to forget you did what you could within a COMPO entry), I can see a potential for a nice idle game about that subject though. Good job!
This game is weird in a very good way, I love it! Found it punishing that you die on one mistake, but still managed to reach the core so I guess it's alright :D Great job!
