Zombies 'N Spies by Wezley 2014-12-16T09:15:00
Pretty fun game.

Pretty fun game.
Good take on the old skool Robotron idea. Well done on making it local multiplayer.
Pretty deep mechanics, really needs some training missions.
But as it's Ludum Dare, I can understand there was no time.
Lovely graphics and sound.
interesting take on the the breakout/arkanoid theme.
@Ryusui, no idea, probably due to me turning the mouse cursor "off" in the code, I think you're the second to mention that.
@aeveis If everything is black, it means it can't find the images.
As @EvilDrFish says, it's possibly not extracted correctly.
please try extracting the whole zip file first, unfortunately I don't have a Win8 64bit machine to test this on.
When the Zip is extracted you should have a folder called PRickAirious.app
And within that, two folders Contents and Media, as well was the PRickAirious.exe file to run.
@talecrafter and @HotBoxGames
Pro tip. Use the crouch to stop yourself from sliding ;)
@kipelovets and @puppetmaster my host 1&1 was under DDOS attack for a while. But it's sorted out now
@sorlock - the jumps are supposed to be tricky. but they're all possible ;)
@aeveis, I think you might be right. as the game forces 640x400 resolution and I think others have had a problem with it not showing the graphics. If you're getting music and sound effects that means the path is correct.
Cheers so much for all the positive feedback.
It makes me really want to continue with the game and make a full game out of it. Thank you.
I've fixed the blank screen issues in the Windows version, but it now plays in a 90% sized Window rather than fullscreen, I also had to split the OS X and Win32 versions up, as the bug fix broke the OS X version :(
Please comment and I'll play your game, rate and comment on it as well.
Thanks for all the positive comments. And the constructive ones. I reckon I'll take this game further.
I understand about losing multiple lives to the fireballs @Odefus, but I decided to keep that in as you rack up so many lives along the way.
@tonypal you can watch my play through video. I'm still working on doing it perfectly without losing a life to get the secret ending.

Beautiful, lovely idea.
It's a Bug-hell game. How many elements on screen at it's peak?
That's quite cute.
Would be great to see it expanded.
Fun snowman shooter.
Great use of humour in this.
Probably needed one more day of play testing and tweaking. But nice first entry.
Brutal.
All your Candy belong to us.
I"m gonna tell your mother about this.
so much blood.
hahahahaha.
Fun game.
Cute.
Damn those snowmen.
Great stuff, would love to see this expanded even further.
Love the idea. Take me back to the good old days.
Nice touches with the spam email.
lovely presentation
Simple gameplay idea, which takes a while to grasp.
Loving the Atari 2600 style graphics.
Nice use of free resources.
Excellent use of pixel art and animation.
Some hilarious touches.
Very cool. Very Challenging.
Love the use of the theme.
Look forward to seeing a completed version.
I AM Santa, fear me!!!
Skinner-box-tastic.
WoW in a nutshell.
Surreal, squaredance adventure game. I like it.
Great pixel art tiles. Love the different zones.
Great mindless time wasting fun.
nice twist on gameplay.
Well thought out puzzles.
Needs a mobile port. Nice and simple once you get it.
Really original idea, good work.
Really fun to play. Well done on getting the multiplayer working well.
I guess less game, more interactive story.
Really liked wiping away the screen static on the opening scene.
Wasn't so obvious what to do with the plane.
Scary clown boss.
Good use of the game mechanic.
I'm impressed with the level design for this stealth game. Love the introduction of each of the different mechanics throughout the levels.
Beautiful, great look and feel and use of the theme.
Nice first LD game. Need to have left yourself some more time for polish and testing.
Bwahahaha, Frosty Ninja is so swag.
Lovely idea, like those old funfair games where you have to keep a steady hand to manoeuvre a steel loop along a steel maze type thing.
Great use of Snowman.
cute li'l game.
Love Lachhh's stuff.
Nice homage to Just Shapes and Beats.
Love the pixel art, good sense of dungeon despair.
simple fun. excellent first game
nice use of platforming and 3d.
Love a good platformer, well done.
Does anyone really feel like some bacon now?
Fun multi play action.
Hahahaha, Fishing fun. Cheeky game title.
Love the pixel art.
Great 3D models, gets repetitive after a while.
Wasn't sure why I was collecting coins.
Or is that a beat em up thing. Killing things gives you coins ;)
Fun resource sim. Love the pixel art. Wasn't always clear what I should be clicking on.
nice use of cut screens to advance the story.
Topical stuff. As someone who makes games, I'd really like people to pay for it rather than torrent it illegally. But I understand there are different ways to make money on your product these days.
Love me some ASCII style art. Good work.
Snowman wasn't the theme, no matter, you can make a single screen game with a snowman in it ;)
Nice one.
What a lovely game, only managed 2 juggles in the tutorial with 3 balls.
But I think with a bit more practice I'll get there.
Nicely polished as well.
Do it for the boobs.
Requesting permission to download game to play it.
Great use of audio and atmosphere. As a maze game it's a bit limited.
Great use of the theme. Very funny.
Wonderful platforming action. Great presentation.
Tough
It's like a parkour rollercoaster. Insane.
I quite enjoyed playing this. good use of the theme.
I enjoyed the art style.
Could have done with more variations on the enemies.
Perhaps limit the bullets you have with having to collect ammo.
Great art style, fun little diversion.
Great arcade fun all on one screen. Good job.
So this is what Green tentacle has been up to these days.
Fun game, great game intro.
Not sure how it fits the theme though.
Good old shmup fun.
Wonderful. Love me some Game Boy action.
Love the idea of this, but as others have said, needs some sort of tutorial levels.
Really like the atmosphere and mood of this game.
Really nicely done, love the pixel art.
I guess you wanted the theme to be Snowman like many others? KILL EM ALL!!!
pretty good fun.
don't worry about the last minute details, we all messed up somewhere along the line.
Fun physics based diversion. Cute Yeti.
I'm impressed with the intended scope of the game. Would like to see this idea taken further.
What is this? An RPG for ants? It needs to be atlas 3 times bigger.
Looks pretty manic, so much going on.
Tower defence and Snowmen?
Cool.
I really like this, great art style, good intro.
Two different weapons, and a few power ups.
Excellent.
Excellent puzzle game, crying out for a mobile version.
Screen flash along with screen shake are powerful tools, but need to be used in moderation.
I think another day working on this and this would have been very excellent.
A game about questioning what the true meaning of Christmas is, in a twin stick style.
Well done on getting the fight AI working. It's kinda like being on the outside of the Hunger Games.
A good start which has a cat in the idea. Think you needed a bit more time to polish thing and fine tune it.
Nice puzzle element. Cute presentation.
"Do you wanna build a snowman???"
p.s. my web host was under DDOS attack, but they sorted it out now.
Please download P.Rick Airious and let me know what you think. Thank you.
70s Disco-tastic!!!
Lovely presentation, solid platforming design.
Great art style, and frantic music, set the scene perfectly.
Well done indeed.
I don't trust that cat, he looks shady.
Well that's completely bonkers,
couldn't work out if there was a game in there.
Or if it was more just an experience.
Love a good platformer, and this is definitely one. Really well done.
Just a small note regarding installers. The problem is with Ludum Dare games, is that you've got like over 2000 of them to try out and even if only 10% are installers, that's still 200 games that need to be installed before you can actually play them. It's one extra step you have to take before you can test it out.
That said, I've just downloaded your game, gonna install it and then get back to you with some rating and notes :D
Interesting variation on the Pac-Man theme. The movement feels stilted as it moves from tile to tile, rather than it gliding. I like the fact you have to run over the play sign to start the game and you can quit by running over the stop.
Respawning dots make it a bit more interesting as well.
The ghosts could be a little less random though.
Love the sound effects and music.
Really well done. Great presentation.
Great use of the viewpoint.
Very nice take on Smash TV. Good amount of polish.
Great start to the game, shame you didn't have more time.
Not too bad, good start to a single screen platform shooter.
Hopefully you'll carry on working on it and make it even better.
Not a bad start, for your first Ludum Dare game.
Keep working on it, they'll get better and better, and also bigger.
Balance is a bit off, but I understand it's hard to play test and adjust in such a short amount of time. Fun though.
Quite literal.
Love a good bomb battle.
How long until you are able to create an EXE for this?
You could advance this and make it some sort of realtime Lemmings type game, with more than one ball and different types of balls.
First Ludum Dare? Ambitious stuff dude. Well done on getting this together in the short time.
Cute.
Needs a bit of balancing and of course SFX.
You can make quick simple 8bit sounds with SFXR
Firefighting spaceships for the win. Tough stuff.
Love the irony that you're playing this game on possibly a phone.
The levels could get faster and faster with more variation like a version of Warioware.
Really good first attempt. Well done.
Win7 64bit,
When I try to run the EXE it prompts me to open a file.
I opened the Source in Game Maker and played it.
Interesting idea with the 4 stances, things start to ramp up in difficulty after a bit which is nice. Some feedback to know if I've hit something and how much it hurt them or how much energy they have left would be nice.
Couldn't work out the controls.
I managed to hide in the locker from the robot, but then came out and didn't know how to shoot :(
Brutal bullet hell, with a nice screen rotate mechanic.
not too bad at all.
Would love to make a Sinclair Spectrum version of this.
cute.
Not looking good for the cat.
fun challenging puzzles.
Simple catch the falling objects game. Pretty damn tough as well. I miss floppy disks.
It really is all about the snowman.
Surreal stuff.
excellent work, done in such a short time.
Apart from the bugs, It's enjoyable.
That's some serious jarring sound fx when you die and get sent back to hell.
Cute graphics.
Movement needs tweaking.
Is there anywhere else we can see your work?
Good job you did the tutorial video.
I'm impressed with the AI. Well done.
insane, playing as a pixel on a retina display of a macbook pro.
pew pew pew!!!
a bit of fun two player action. probably needs more balancing though.
Not sure I understand what's going on, even after reading the instructions on the first screen. Lasted 145 days and got 680 data.
But I like the art style and presentation.
Satisfying feedback when adding the modules.
Love the craziness of it all. Blood everywhere.
Cute little stick man walking anim. Was getting interesting as there were more spikes on level 4. Movement worked well as he shuffled his way towards where I was clicking.
Feels like you could have done with the extra day and taken 72 hours to polishing things up.
hilarious fun stuff. Good use of the theme.
Great first entry,
need to work on a few things, but a good start.
Sokoban is a good way to start learning.
And nice one cramming in the snowman theme ;)
Nice one, always hard to bring something new to Sokoban games.
My Stick is mighty!!!
Love the different challenges.
Good use of single button play.
Not bad at all.
Good base idea.
I managed to download it, but was unable to run the program.
Wants me to set up a web server.
Love the art style. Impressed it was only 2.5 hours.
Shame this is unfinished.
Great idea for a game.
Good arcade gameplay. Looks incredible.
hahahaha, it's a very different kind of advent calendar.
Nice variation on the endless runner game type.
clever use of the theme. nice.
really nicely done.
Do you wanna build a snowmaaaaan!!! ;)
How to refresh the rhythm genre. Add martial arts.
Kick. Punch, it's all in the mind.
Sad times.
Same thing happened to me on my first Jam.
Regroup and get the next one :D
Looks like OpenColorIO.dll is a Blender3D file that's missing :(
Great job on getting this made in the short time of Ludum Dare.
Just for you TheScragglyMan, I did a quick update to my game to include WASD controls :D
Completely understand about running out of time.
These days for Game jams, I aim to get the main game core finished by half the time. leaving the second half to polish and fix bugs.
Love the game idea, old skull game mechanic, great graphics.
creepy stuff.
Beautiful. Would be perfect for a touch screen.
p.s. my web host was under DDOS attack, but they sorted it out now.
Please download P.Rick Airious and let me know what you think. Thank you.
Stationary based weaponry for the win.
This game is juiced to the max, nicely presented.
Old school avoidance gameplay :D
Nice idea, and I'm a fan of the Atari 2600 presentation.
Once I understood to really watch how many moves I had left. It was quite fun. But then I just headed for all the boot icons until I was uber powerful.
Need some sort of visual feedback as you use up your moves.
This is crazy brutal. Really wish there were more check points. But once I got use to the jump curve and died many many times. You learn were all the traps are and you finally make it through.
topical gaming.
Hello :)
Welcome to the world of Game Jamming.
Presentation can completely transform old game ideas.
Hahahaha, amazing stuff.
Great pixelart. Sound and music.
Fun to play.
Hmmmmm.... interesting.
Keeping it simple but fun.
Loving the animation and sound effects.
Great start with Unity. I still don't like the language.
I enjoyed the simplicity of this. Cute.
Love me a bit of local multiplay
How do you like 'dem apples ;)
Everybody's childhood dream is to have a hoverboard.
As the others say, sort out you Ludum Dare entry page.
Get a decent screenshot.
If you can dodge a spanner you can dodge a ball.
Simple enough concept.
Kinda reminds me of an old Gameboy game I made, Egg Racer :D
interesting concept.
nice first time Ludum Dare game.
Keep making games and they'll improve :D
Keep it up, you'll get better the more games you make.
What was the play start sound?!?!?!
You've got too many polygons on the screen at once, you need to reduce your objects or have less polygons in your models.
There's the basis for a good game here, just needs more work and polish.
as a SWF file, there really is no excuse for a web version.
This is the first pinball game I've tried on Ludum Dare. Nice.
I've started spending half a Game Jam time making the main game mechanic and then the second half tweaking, polishing and debugging.
Well done on making two games in the time. Fun multiplayer action.
Took a while to understand what I was doing.
Awwwww...
Simple stuff.
I quite enjoyed this. It's all about going for multiple ghosts.
If only you had added a scrolling background. This would have enhanced it so much more.
tis the season and all.
the animals are revolting... geddit?!?!?
Impressive first use of shaders.
Love the atmosphere.
Fun little jumper.
insane.
Great atmosphere to this game. Well done.
Some nice ideas in the level.
Great positive message
You know the way to a grown man's heart. The good ol' Game Boy.
Kudos to you sir.
fun addictive simplicity.
I think you need to check a few of the rating category boxes.
Looking forward to an online version, or wrapped.
You want to make it as easy as possible for people to play your game.
Is this game incomplete?
Can't download.
Guess I've gotta wait for other players, not so much fun on your own.
Nice piece of coding though.
Seriously high jumping skills.
interesting use of narrative and timing.
Good old skool shooting.
I would have added diagonal moving bullets for added challenge.
Great old skool feel to the game.
Great old skool feel to the game, with that li'l twist.
Interesting use of different screen effects to vary up the gameplay. Love the scanlines.
The humour level for this is off the chart :D
Really liking the Black, Green, White visuals.
What happened to the Binaries?
Wasn't quite sure what was going on to start with, but started working things out after a while.
Nice game mechanic, but would like the one big level broken down into smaller levels, that ease you into the game. But I understand time is short when putting a game together.
As @BadPaul34 says, control of the fox is difficult.
Off Topic,
didn't know how else to get in touch with you.
Can you tell me what make and model you tried my game on and what graphics card. Thank you.
Last Off Topic message to @aeveis.
Thanks to your bug report and one other person, I've worked out the issue with my game, P.Rick Airious
Seems some graphics cards don't like the FullScreen 640x400 resolution I set it to, resulting in the images not being shown.
So I rewrote the graphics routines to play in a window 90% of your current resolution. Please download the new Win32 version and try it out.
Many thanks.
http://ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-31/?action=preview&uid=11959
Genius. I really like how well you think outside of the box.
At first I was thinking why isn't there any feedback for when I hit Yalg'th, looks like he's missed that.
Great charming graphics and exceelent music driving the action.
The post compo changes are really nice icing on the cake and bring it together.
Excellent on all accounts.
I want more of it.
You're very talented.
@Jezzamon, that's a very excellent idea bout having the less eyes you have the less you could see.
I only spent 12 hours on this entry, so it's all very minimal. I had lots of more ideas I wanted to put in. Different enemies and how the number of eyes effects you.
I used insta-death to mask I didn't have time to implement the original idea of each time you get hit you lose an eye.
Well done on conveying the tedium and frustration of an automated phone system. Extremely funny and great voice acting.
Enjoyed the idea.
Needs tightening up and tweaking, to make it flow better.
Excellent work.
Beautiful pixel art and animation.
Great sound effects and the music works really well.
Really impressed you had time to implement a tutorial and and intro story :D
The only thing I would say is I found the control a little awkward/non-intuitive.
Mainly having down for dash. Would have changed it to a double tap or the C key.
I would have Z and X swapped around the other way, but that may have just been a personal preference.
There's something quite cathartic infecting other kids.
Clowns are creepy.
The music is hilarious. Love powering up to unleash the full on tantrum. Shame you didn't manage to finish the animations.
Excellent work. love the art style and good use of bird related mechanics.
Excellent stuff, great graphics and tight controls. Sound was fitting and the music set the mood well.
Really nicely done.
Great presentation.
How do you get it to show a youtube video as your first screenshot?
Web version fails to download data file.
WebGL version fills the loading bar then stops.
I'm using Safari on a Mac.
Really enjoyed taking the zelda idea of picking up and hurling chickens to the next level.
Lovely graphics art style :D
I spoke too soon the WebGL version eventually loaded and started playing.
The camera gets disorientating and nauseous after a while.
The Camera is way too springy. It pans too quickly. Slow it's movement down and make it smoother.
Beautiful stuff. Really good use of lighting. Great arcade feel to the game.
Interesting concept.
The stark graphics style works. But perhaps lacks a bit character.
It all feels a little hectic and random, maybe need narrow corridors to make a maze type game. Or zoom out further so I can see more of the playfield.
Sound is minimal.
Gotta juice it up :D
What a wonderful use of paint :D
Can you tell me how you embed a Youtube video as your first screenshot? thank you.
You legend @Awpteamoose.
Many thanks.
Good job on the bug crushing :D
Ahhh I get it now, you have to try for a near miss, so your probe gets close enough to scan without hitting them. I enjoyed the moody music and the art style. Great job on using minimal text.
I really liked this, great art style and animation. Lovely variety of animals to attack with, all with different speeds and sizes. A little sad they all got slaughtered by the robots.
The castlevania/megaman knock back was a killer, but I liked that as it made me more cautious.
Great variety on the final boss attacks and lovely ending.
Music and sound was all very fitting.
Excellent work :D
Cute styling, fun gameplay.
Would love to see this expanded and polished further.
Loving the pixel art, and the audio is hella cute.
Nice idea, I think with some fine tuning this could pretty excellent.
enjoyed the atmosphere and the humour. Needs some polish and some expansion, but of course that's all possible with a bit more time.
Great artwork, fun gameplay. Rock hard just how I like it :D
Like the use of the Bard's voice to allow him to fly or kill enemies.
Need to have checks that the maps are "possible", as there were lots of games you couldn't fit through. But I think the concept could be worked on and improved :D
Really enjoyed the NES style graphics. Nice use of the bowling ball as a weapon. I felt like the Bowler from the move Mystery Men. Shame you ran out of time, with some clever level design it could be pretty awesome.
Nicely presented, would need time to playtest and tweak. But as we all know we don't have time for Ludum Dare.
Lovely atmosphere.
Loved the concept, I felt like Columbo.
Great graphical style as well.
I've always thought we should have more vegetable based weapons.
Great unconventional weapon.
Good fun to play.
Audio is a bit over whelming at times.
A fun start to a multiplayer game.
Love the Gameboy style graphics.
Took a little while to realise I had to select the correct command and then click on the people. But makes sense once I worked that out.
Beautiful artwork and sound.
Lots of fun to play.
Well done.
Great art and I really like the use of limbs. Nice one.
Great use of mechs, and nice variation.
unfortunately being asked not to kill civilians made me want to kill them even more ;)
It wasn't alway clear who the bad guys were, especially when you're zooming around in a Mech.
Great cohesive art style.
What a lovely entry. Excellent artwork.
Good use of writing.
And the dino's with top hats, monocles and cups of tea was so cute I didn't really want to hurt them.
Really well done, feels very complete.
Love the fluid physics and the idea of using your Jam cannon.
Great graphics and use of sound.
Exellent.
Enjoyed the gameplay and level design.
Well done on using a new engine.
Good writing, liked being able to shift states and seeing the different outcomes. Maybe a little hard to digest at times. Pacing may need to be changed for a Ludum Dare game.
I thought this was too easy to begin with, then at round 8 it got tricky. Got stuck on round 11 before giving up.
Really nice use of out of the water areas. Jumping through the air is very satisfying. The mechanic is good, it all comes down to the level design.
The music was suitable watery affair, with the sound effects help immerse you further as you jump in and jump out, not too sure about the 8bit sound effects fitting to well with the rest.
The graphics are functional and do the job.
Nice work doing it on your own.
Love the rate of bullets you fired and good use of screen shake and sound to convey that feel good factor.
Am I right there is no scoring, or amount of time I managed to survive.
Bwahahahaha, Hashtag-tastic.
Cute little game.
I like the variation in the Wizards.
The Palbot/Drone idea is quite fun.
I've played a few games with singing in them now.
Great throwback feel to Ultima.
Nice variation on Tic Tac Toe, good job.
I originally didn't think my graphics and audio was up to much so didn't turn them on for rating, but I've had good feedback so I've edited and turned them back on :D Thank you.
Quite like the inner monologue of Mona.
The mini games were a little confusing, I couldn't work out to do the fishing part.
@bernardery oo-eer, between his legs, raising it and jiggling it around?!?!?!?!
I liked the idea and art style.
The control could have been tightened up, the jump was frustrating. Couldn't really see much as the viewing field was too small.
But nice use of the theme.
Good simple fun gameplay. Nicely done.
Feels very polished, Excellent stuff.
Love how political this is.
Great quotes between everyone
On a MBP13 retina, tried the web version and everything was black :(
Hope that helps with the debugging.
Love the game, great use of management and then action.
Great art style.
Re: Eye Rush, the chain is lost when you let a bad guy slip past the bottom of the screen. But you're right, I could have made it clearer why and when you lost the chain.
Great use of the theme.
You've conveyed the Black Friday madness really well.
I'm using a MacBook with a track pad so it's a little tricky to pick up and throw. I would have had the option for keyboard keys for picking/throwing.
The screen shake while the madness is happening is a bit over jarring, but I understand why you did it. Perhaps screen shake for every hit/kill
Good use of an upbeat rocking soundtrack after the serene walk up through the carpark.
Really excellent art, with great animation.
It was fun that the arrows bounce around, nice ide.
Wasn't always sure why I gameover'd
the fog of war builds great tension. Love the artwork.
I actually like the artwork.
Good solid entry for a first Ludum Dare.
Laughed plenty through this, really like the magnet idea.
Good use of weapon.
Plays well.
Well done on your first Ludum Dare.
The pico pixel graphics are so very awesome. Great animation.
Love the idea of the scream/earthquake.
Solid tight controls.
Excellent work.
At little confusing to start with, but was pretty fun once I got the hang of it. Nice clean art style.
I love how I'm randomly Toucanman, with some really random weapons.
It's all a bit dark though, the colours don't really pop.
Movement and attacks lacked "weight" needs more juice.
Excellent stuff, reminds me of the fun grass cutting in the Legend of Zelda games.
Oh and being able to behead beasties was a really nice touch :D
Reminds me of old Lucas Art point and click games, with the surrealness of the puzzles. Enjoyable music, and cohesive art style throughout.
Really like the intro you put in explaining the back story.
As most people have said, this is ver much Super Meat Boy, which isn't a bad thing.
I really like the squashing and shape changing of the squares to give them character.
Movement feels too heavy at times, it's hard to change direction and sometimes you don't feel in control.
Very nicely done :D
Love the parody in it.
Tough gameplay is not always easy to balance, but I like this side of difficulty.
Excellent stuff.
