LD27 — 10 Seconds

Hail Of Bombs by tinyworlds 2013-08-28T10:05:00

Oh man, haven't play a whack a mole style game in ages. Though the 10 second timer on the bombs fit with the theme : ).

10 seconds Are An Eternity by Larzan 2013-08-28T11:55:00

I like the idea, hope you expand upon it!

Ardor by permanente1600 2013-08-27T16:10:00

The glowing orbs look cool in the dark and while you're running past with a torch. The wall/pillars have a nice effect in general too.

TickType by shockedfrog 2013-08-28T10:16:00

965 Points haha. I've never actually seen this kind of game before and it was actually really addictive to my suprise :0. Good stuff man!

Short Circuit by Nick Cash 2013-08-27T02:53:00

Source only..? : (

Time Tunnels by Thinkofdeath 2013-08-29T07:23:00

I like the idea, it could work really well with some tweaking.

The Fall by Qaterknan 2013-08-28T10:35:00

While I think it was extremely interesting having the different modes (shop, planning, observing) which I found cool I think I felt kinda drained from all the tutorial reading at the very start. Being able to zoom in and out of the battle was awesome but I wish there was a way to fast forward it or something (watched the mutants walk painfully slow for ages across the map haha) Anyways good stuff man : ).

Pitch your game by Tuba 2013-08-28T12:10:00

The music is genius. 9/10.

Castle Clocksworth by My Sweet Whomp 2013-08-28T10:36:00

Cant load the game, is the site dead..?

Planet Monster by 01010111 2013-08-28T10:55:00

Really great fun, nice graphics and music and the game is fun too. Good work.

ZOMB10 by neocrey 2013-08-29T08:36:00

Got 706 as the score heh. It was pretty tense and fun but some of the zombies were jumping through the platforms? : 0

GLITCH by TravisChen 2013-08-27T05:38:00

Terrifying. But I liked it.

Urvas by mitkus 2013-08-27T15:20:00

The visuals are very simple and you've pulled off a certain amount of polish.

Rabbits and spaceships ! by rianoto 2013-08-29T09:18:00

I won, but I'm not really sure how. Seems like it would be an interesting balancing act game, but I couldn't quite figure it out.

Ludum Dare by Dir3kt 2013-08-29T06:54:00

Good sense of humor, enjoyed it.

10 Second Tower Defense by BenW 2013-08-27T11:20:00

Ahhh one of the LDTD games? heheh I actually really liked the visual style, really minimal good stuff though I suck at tower Defence I just tried to make a bunch of sniper towers X_X

Bloody Bob by Zener 2013-08-29T09:37:00

I liked it : ) I really liked the cutscenes I just wish the game was longer than 2 stages : ( lol @ exploding after eating the dog.

Time Tile by Mythalore 2013-08-29T07:19:00

Cool idea, I'd like it to be a tiny bit faster, but that's only a small issue.

Platformer Roulette by Phobos001 2013-08-27T04:34:00

Fun game, interesting take on the theme.

BombUniverse by Lidfrid 2013-08-28T07:08:00

Strange, I don't think I quite understood how the game worked. I like the logo though, it's pretty sweet.

Checkpoint by barcode 2013-08-28T19:17:00

Cool music, the blue city looks pretty damn awesome too.

Elvenglade by AlexFili 2013-08-28T10:17:00

Good fun, could get pretty tough in some parts!

Legend of Troll by Christina Antoinette Neofotistou 2013-08-28T03:21:00

Looks good, but was pretty short. Nice job!

10 Sec And Slash by NostraDamon 2013-08-29T08:15:00

This was actually really addictive hah. I only managed to get up to the 2nd or 3rd 3 man stage but I gave up because for some reason jumping near the corner of a ledge kind of didn't work sometimes? maybe I was falling off of the edge slightly or something : (. Fun Though!

TimeStep by Jellycakes 2013-08-28T10:11:00

This was actually quite fun hah, stopping time then pumping them full of lead was satisfying and the red decals on them added a lot when you shot them. I wish you could slow time down while its still charging or slow down time only for a short period though but I guess that would break the 10 second theme maybe hah. Good stuff!

Robby by Morusque 2013-08-28T20:01:00

I like the title, seems fitting. The game is unusual and a nice change.

SliP by Sakuyan 2013-08-28T04:54:00

Cool kirby-ish game. Probably has puzzles more relevant to the abilities in this though. Nice!

The Value of Time by infernet89 2013-08-28T10:37:00

Really interesting game, wouldn't have thought of this myself!

Elevator Pitch by Back to Browse Entries 2013-08-28T11:25:00

They pitched Starcraft meets Mass Effect and I was like, yeah that's pretty sweet. Then they pitched Mass Effect Meets Starcraft and that sounded even better! Strange and funny game!

T1me Twist0r by DigiTec 2013-08-27T02:34:00

lol @ the star wars type intro text. I find the game hard though, maybe it's glitched up on me? : (

Dilemma by Cthulhu 2013-08-27T14:30:00

Nice, very ominous results page.

Poppy vs. the Night by SecondDimension 2013-08-29T10:06:00

I liked it the multiple powerups and the shifting of modes kept it fast paced and fresh. Felt like a total boss firing missles and shotgunning at the same time haha. Nice work.

10SecTD by joekinglake 2013-08-28T20:31:00

Graphics were cool and the game was fun!

Cloud Control by Bzaraticus 2013-08-27T10:53:00

Wow I loved the popupbook style graphics when youre going into the stage guys! Good job! I think the clouds restarting you to a full 10 seconds is a bit easy but awesome polish!

Rascal Ninja by Rafael CP 2013-08-28T21:55:00

The different movement mechanics were cool and the walk animation was pretty sweet.

Bug Buster by ConflictiveLabs 2013-08-28T18:50:00

Fun graphics and intense game play! The instant replay is a nice feature.

Clocked In by rylgh 2013-08-28T04:46:00

Pretty addictive game, gets challenging after a while. Good work.

10s drawing by Webravenz 2013-08-29T10:16:00

Oh man as an artist this made me feel really crap hahah. I used to think 30 second gesture drawings were hard but this is just brutal heh.

The Run by GagaPete 2013-08-28T10:59:00

Really enjoyed wall walking!

Mr.President! (Web) by Richard Matey 2013-08-29T09:07:00

Bangarang by Infernal 2013-08-30T06:11:00

This was a cool starfox style game and idea : ) Only complaint is that I wish there was an indicator for the time left and your health : (

Thade by Aurel Bílý 2013-08-28T12:34:00

Enjoyed the dialogue, very fun!

Host by Darzoz 2013-08-28T12:08:00

Nerv by arcticleaf 2013-08-27T15:52:00

575 by the31 2013-08-27T15:56:00

Never would have thought of a haiku challenge. Interesting idea.

MatchiMatchi by Jesper Oskarsson 2013-08-28T07:43:00

Nice, the mouse controls were a change of pace for this type of game!

No Time for Nibbles by larb 2013-08-29T11:12:00

Sweet, I haven't played anything like this in years. Pseudo-multiplayer too, pretty awesome.

That was a fun TD, the skeletons look cool =)

Deadly Sunrise by jayhC 2013-08-28T21:36:00

Had fun playing this, it's challenging but not too challenging. So it's good!

10 Second Happy Rocket by Starspell 2013-08-29T07:31:00

Good fun to play around with, I liked the addition of the creative mode despite lacking the theme.

Alien Attack by KayZ 2013-08-29T10:09:00

This was pretty fun it reminded me of that RPG game I played ages ago where more features got added as you found them in treasure chests. Is it possible to die? The trucks and planes and that seemed to go straight through the ship haha.

Can You Save Her? by wintermute 2013-08-29T08:20:00

Ahhh so hard when the map gets big! X_X haha Was fun though most of the answers later on seemed to be 'No' heh. Only 9610 Points X_X Good game!

On the Dot by Symmeteer 2013-08-28T13:02:00

Man I could never get 10.0 X_X It was cool the different ways you were changing up the dynamics (swamp, grass, wind, etc.) and I liked the fact that even though I didn't get a perfect 10 I could still try the next levels. Good stuff.

Subject 18120 by deammer 2013-08-28T12:15:00

Graphics are awesome, the game is pretty damn fun too.
Some music would have been nice though!

The 10 SEC War by sockfolder 2013-08-27T02:37:00

While I think the idea is cool the whole stop start thing made it a little bit hard to play : (. I like it though man!

Changer by ix 2013-08-29T10:29:00

Really odd game, but kudos for that. I was so bad the guy's head exploded, which is a nice touch.

Every 10 Seconds a Window Washer Falls to his Death by dom2d 2013-08-27T04:02:00

Rofl, great game guys!

Get Out! by LordHellMaX 2013-08-27T03:17:00

Awesome man, scared the crap out of me when I recharged the torch! haha

Penpals by killmonday 2013-08-28T21:47:00

Cool story, the intro was great. The death animation was good, if a little bit smoother than the rest of the game. Also a bear with a fishbowl on it's head is a pretty neat idea.

Time War by Mr. Jif 2013-08-27T21:11:00

Very well done game. The weapon power-ups were fun and the feedback was very nice. Good job!

Clean Quickly by Lyonsbanner 2013-08-28T10:12:00

Challenging! Vacuum cleaner going crazy? pretty cool idea.

Slices of Life by epiplon 2013-08-27T15:48:00

This game just has something that Typing of the Dead just cannot give me.

Ten Seconds To Venus by markusfisch 2013-08-28T11:47:00

Very tense! Nice straight to the point game.

BouncyTime by Brejlounek 2013-08-27T15:10:00

Man, that engine sound, pure genius. The controls are nice, you've got a solid start for making some kinda time themed micro machines game.

Wall of Suicide by dumasflo 2013-08-29T09:48:00

Got a final score of 291744! Was pretty funny but the eyes hanging down when you bash into the wall was kind of gross lol.

Bomb Squad by Levi D. Smith 2013-08-28T22:05:00

Great title screen. runs very smoothly.

The Stuffuv by roaet 2013-08-29T09:53:00

This had a lot of potential and was kind of freaky but I couldn't work out how to do the two box puzzle haha. Also was there something I was meant to do in that room that basically has an infinite path going upwards?

Lone Stranger's PULSE by LoneStranger 2013-08-27T04:52:00

Very interesting game, strangely addictive.

The Awesome Wolf (with a fork) by PAC 2013-08-29T08:40:00

This was pretty fun and the art was nice but I think it would have been better if you could see the sheppard and didn't just insta-die when the timer hit haha. Good going for the first entry : D

Decel by timujin 2013-08-29T10:33:00

Fun game, very tough to get the last guy. Nice theme taking.

10 seconds by c0nfused 2013-08-29T07:32:00

SFX were great. Visuals were pretty cool too.

Umbra Machina by TheMaster99 2013-08-27T11:43:00

The run speed combined with that platforms make it pretty thrilling haha! My only complaint is that it seems really hard to jump when at the end of the platforms for some reason it doesnt seem to register? X_X It was pretty addictive then the first boss punched the crap out of me lol Good stuff.

Keg Quest by Crazi456 2013-08-27T22:16:00

Pretty tough to keep track of everyone but the levels were really well designed.

10 Second Berserker by CoderDozer 2013-08-28T19:13:00

Great fun, if it a little difficult to hit the ball at times. Controls could use some tweaking too. Good work!

The Aliens Came (10 seconds to choose) by porglezomp 2013-08-29T08:50:00

I got vaporized into a pool of carbon dust.. : ( I'm really liking this game so far man I think it's been years since I've played a cool choose your own adventure (Used to like reading them when I was young though) 5 stars from me.

gl10s by ivo 2013-08-29T10:37:00

Visually arresting.

Duel by zlowrance 2013-08-29T12:58:00

I really liked the concept for this!! Although it sucks I couldn't find a human opponent to play against : ( Cool idea!

SAVE THE WORLD! by CTATZ 2013-08-27T05:34:00

Seems fun but I got stuck.
That walk animation makes this game significantly cooler.

Ten Seconds of Thrust by flarb 2013-08-28T07:53:00

Space Fatality! Good fun.

Armageddon by 4xisblack 2013-08-28T11:17:00

MegaPunch by Nick Weihs 2013-08-27T08:25:00

MegaPunch by Nick Weihs 2013-08-28T01:36:00

LordHellMaX - yeah I think there's a guy who's stuck on the server

MegaPunch by Nick Weihs 2013-08-29T09:10:00

Uploaded a Linux and Mac build, but I have no way to test them. Let me know if they work!

MegaPunch by Nick Weihs 2013-08-30T02:01:00

@Gravyhands something seems to have happened literally in the last 15 minutes.. Not sure whats happening looking into it atm.

MegaPunch by Nick Weihs 2013-08-30T02:15:00

@Gravyhands the server crashed literally a few minutes before you joined haha. Sorry about that!

El Damned Chili by ErwanOfil 2013-08-27T12:37:00

Graphics are different from other LD games I've seen, so that's refreshing.

Choice Matters by donan 2013-08-28T07:16:00

This is pretty neat, it would be cool to have a bigger world to explore in this way. Strange atmosphere.

Dinosaur Jr. vs the 1960's by devi ever 2013-08-28T06:21:00

Excellent post-mortem and excellent game

Very concise experience, nice work.

Dungeon Crawling Simulator 2013 by MrBlade 2013-08-28T07:37:00

All in all pretty simple, pickup keys open doors. Was pretty fun/

Darn Clock by sirdorius 2013-08-29T08:05:00

Dude this was the most hillariously awesome game I've played so far! The cars tipping and exploding, etc. was awesome! I only managed to keep my job for 9 days though X_X. My only complaint about this is the mouse controls made it really hard to be precise for me (maybe I'm not used to it) and it seemed like sometimes I could get into the bus from the street side? (Maybe a bug?) Anyways loved it I hope you do something more with it!

Step Out by bitserum 2013-08-28T14:00:00

Nice graphics man : ). The posession is fun and good and I laughed at that "you should not be here" message, heh.
I also liked the clear way of doing instructions at the start and the teleport spirals remind me of the dreamcast logo hahah. That being said I think the pacing for the double rock puzzle was a bit slow X_X. Nice!

Richard Was Afraid Of The Dark by Atmospherium 2013-08-28T11:37:00

The music was a little repetitive initially, but I liked how it the other instruments came in slowly. That was pretty sweet. Also liked that you could go backwards and the previous text would appear!

Get the seconds! by Rodrigo Robles 2013-08-28T10:22:00

Neat idea!

A Living Shell by kraj0t 2013-08-29T09:28:00

Terrifying. Ending was pretty out there too. Definitely one of the more unusual entries. Good work!

Run with the Revolution by local minimum 2013-08-28T20:05:00

Haven't seen such rotation as this yet! The game over screen is a little disorienting but the game's still there. Good work!

GURU GURU by Makio64 2013-08-30T11:33:00

Wow I really liked the art on this and the game was fun! My only complaint is that during the day due to not being able to fly over grass it was a little difficult XD. Nice job!

10 Seconds to Lava by Folis 2013-08-28T10:41:00

Fun while it lasted! I liked the END screen haha.

Coeus IV by dungeonsoffear 2013-08-28T07:24:00

Micro Management Simulator 2013 by daOyster 2013-08-27T04:25:00

Funny stuff man, good take on the theme and the graphics are pretty nice too.
Pretty hard on the hand though.

Cherry Bomber by asc3nsion 2013-08-28T11:59:00

Neat game, was pretty hard at points!

Black & White & Time by NachoDA 2013-08-27T03:10:00

Hahah fun and innovative man. I keep getting taken out though X_X ahhh damn cars and that truck!

Eat to Live by Ramon Imbao 2013-08-28T13:16:00

I dig the minimalist graphics and it was a really fun concept! However I feel like it got frustrating trying to chase people down and dying over and over haha. I really liked that there were so many zombies on screen at once but at the same time it got semi confusing which one I was. Overall good stuff guys.

10 Seconds Before the World Ends by Lustdante 2013-08-27T04:41:00

Intro was awesome. Very creepy atmosphere too.

Really hard and really tricky. Interesting mechanics though. Good job.

Hurry UP! by Sense 2013-08-29T07:40:00

This was fun : ) I liked the character but didn't like that the camera didn't catch up with you if you ran really fast (you end up way off screen haha) and that you couldn't go backwards(I know you didn't want us too heh) to get some stuff you missed : (. Nice though!

Pirates! by djwildebeest 2013-08-28T13:11:00

Can't run it man, just links to the dropbox : (

Entropy by Supercannon 2013-08-29T07:51:00

I like the simple tron kind of look to this guys! The game got a little imbalanced later on though since it seems the enemies can shoot lasers through the cube walls : ( I liked firing the laser gun though it had a nice effect : ). Dat jump sound also, lol. Good stuff : )

Megahacker by waveofbabies 2013-08-29T10:45:00

The music was pretty sweet, captured the feeling well. The premise is awesome too.

Sleepy Dungeon by TheBoat 2013-08-28T12:58:00

This is actually really fun guys! Good stuff! Though at the start of level two you can kind of spawn into the walls if you hold right hahah. The enemies hibernating after 10 seconds was a pretty good way of addressing the theme too : ).

Time Perception by Reyn 2013-08-29T07:14:00

Enjoyed the scenery, very calm. Director's cut is an interesting addition too.

Ten To Teleport by spitfire87 2013-08-27T12:17:00

Pretty cool mechanic. Used interestingly even early in the game. Some nice short music loops too. Googly eyed space crab was a plus. Story reminds me of Knytt.

A Day In A Life by EvilObjective 2013-08-28T10:09:00

Enjoyed throwing the laptop out the window.

Tick Tick Mother F***er by eckcz 2013-08-27T15:01:00

Great art, very smooth. Nice audio too.

VIP by Unept 2013-08-29T09:15:00

I found this from the comments on the Mr President game. I really liked it man! It's pretty hillarious accidently getting shot by your own agents though hahah. Really cool game!

TrI-Deca by futuristteletex 2013-08-28T20:09:00

Graphics a pretty damn cool and the music is nice, would be cool if it were a bit more varied though. Awesome job!

Cool idea, is there only one valid option?

Omnom10 by klambrike 2013-08-28T13:06:00

Oh man, I've got arachnophobia and I don't like the dark... AHHHHH! The gameplay was alright and actually voicing the 'nom',death sound, etc. was pretty funny hah. There's a glitch though a spider seems to get stuck to you and you can't shoot it for some reason (hitbox too close?) so you just end up dying : (

Antarctic-Toc by Meep 2013-08-29T10:41:00

Scored 17 : ) Wall jumpin penguin ftw! I found the death time you're stunned for a little frustrating but it was interesting that your character cant die and that you lose by not saving the little penguins! Snowballing the bad penguins was fun too but I really liked wall jumpin up the center part heheh. Nice work man.

Jellyfish Shall Rule the Earth by bigbazwa 2013-08-29T09:24:00

Pretty fun game guys! My only issues was the amount of control you have (I guess it makes sense since you're underwater) and if you keep moving around you pick up insane speeds haha. I liked the seaweed down the bottom of the level and the effects when the jellyfish died were nice too : )

TOO MANY BULLETS by mklee 2013-08-29T07:58:00

So hard at times haha I swear its like when I'm ducking stuff wants to come from the top to take me out X_X. I found the controls really responsive and the jumping/ducking the bullets was fun. You should probably mention you can wall slide too against the wall megaman style : D.

Boulder Boomerang by Kikkers 2013-12-18T00:58:00

The boulder moves the same speed as the enemies so they're really hard to hit, and sometimes you die without getting a chance to move. I can see the kernel of a good puzzle game here, good job!

Making the webplayer so small was a cool choice, and I liked the level design.

Hide The Baby by Nick Weihs 2013-12-16T18:13:00

You can actually save the baby, it's just sort of random which combinations work (I was very very sleep deprived when I came up with some of the combinations)

Hide The Baby by Nick Weihs 2013-12-19T02:48:00

I agree with you chardish, I just think that putting something as absurd as the one child policy into an absurd context is an appropriate way to stage things for further discussion.

Asphyxia by Rahazan 2013-12-16T23:20:00

Had a lot of difficulty on the first level, but I liked the mood and the art.

SHIFTER by Atmospherium 2013-12-16T22:10:00

Bursts by sam1373 2013-12-18T00:37:00

Crew: A Futuristic Detective Game by metkis 2013-12-17T05:24:00

There were a lot of counter-intuitive things about the game and I had to rely on the description to figure out most of it. Once I read through, it seemed pretty easy though. The art and the mood were really good!

Our Story by CarlsonAndPeeters 2013-12-17T00:18:00

Hit quite a few bugs during my playthough (buttons that you could only hit with both characters standing on them, level that wouldn't complete even though both players were standing at the end). The level design was really good though and the mechanics were intuitive.

Conquest by SiM2SiM 2013-12-19T07:40:00

I couldn't beat the first level. There were a lot of times I'd jump to the next platform only to find a bunch of guys I didn't know where there ready to kill me.

One For All & All For One by BlazingFanfish 2013-12-19T08:08:00

You only get MacGuffin! I wasn't sure what happened when I got a game over, because I seem to just come back to life every time I died before that.

CROSSBORE by (Not) Ivano 2013-12-16T23:41:00

Game got a lot easier when I figured out you could just walk into the enemies to kill them. I'm not sure what the point of the stomp is, but it messed me up several times. Pretty fun and addicting game though. Good job!

Distracted Detective by veiadoida 2013-12-17T20:22:00

The Black Lighthouse by funselektor 2013-12-17T05:45:00

The controls were pretty frustrating and I got stuck on the environment a couple of times. The camera clipped through the environment so and it was pretty easy to get lost. You really nailed the mood with the lighting/fog and the music. Good job!

1111 pt 1 by madjackmcmad 2013-12-17T20:11:00

Well balanced to make things seem like they're getting out of hand while still making it relatively easy. Really fun game!

Holiday Chopper Frenzy by mcgraw 2013-12-18T00:12:00

Man, the music in this game is intense! The art style kind of reminds me of toys that you'd play with when you're a kid. Trying to manage the chain was pretty hilarious. Good job!

Will You Be The 1. by yosh 2013-12-19T07:17:00

Space Kitty Race by Polyganz 2013-12-17T19:59:00

M'Lady and The Tramp by Pixelbear 2013-12-17T00:00:00

Had some trouble with sound the first time running, but it seemed to work ok after restarting and just going into the game. It was fun/disguisting/awesome!

LD30 — Connected Worlds

Connected Worlds by bob_fish 2014-09-07T06:35:00

Very nice job utilizing simple mechanics in a lot of different situations. I would have really liked a pressure sensitive jump for dealing with the cows. Overall, I think the game could have used a little more challenge ramp up especially at the end, but overall really solid puzzle design.

Warp Paint by zatyka 2014-09-06T05:57:00

Very nice job on this. The puzzles were well designed, especially for a game jam. The way that you revisit old areas as the puzzles get more complicated was mind bending. The controls were a little too quick and got a bit frustrating.

Chalinkamachoo by commanderstitch 2014-09-02T03:47:00

This game was super fun. I picked up my cloud buddy and charged up for the final blow, but I think the game bugged out =(

I really like how you tied together a lot of different elements and made a fun experience without explaining too much. The audio was hilarious and added a lot to the mood.

Onomo by plash 2014-09-02T03:18:00

I thought this concept has a lot of potential. I would suggest next game jam to focus on mechanics first without worrying about the art. The art style and mood were both very strong, but lacking any gameplay, there's not enough tying things to together.

BOND by ConflictiveLabs 2014-09-06T06:13:00

The idea had a lot of potential, but I'm only reviewing the actual jam submitted version. I liked the way the worlds were connected through dropping items from one side to the other and how the collision affected both characters. Sorry you didn't get to finish.

Bipolar World by havana24 2014-09-02T03:08:00

Excellent job overall. I particularly liked the theme interpretation and the art. The only major complaint I have was that some of the jumping puzzles felt unfair because I couldn't see what was coming up in time. The difficulty was well paced.

Prismatic by Space_man 2014-09-07T06:16:00

I enjoyed figuring this game out. The puzzles were pretty easy to follow, usually it was just a matter of figuring out which dude could actually do something. I feel like by the end, there wasn't enough challenge, but it was still pretty fun. The hit detection on the enemies seemed a little off, the player's attack was much longer range than the art signified, and the one hit kill was unexpected. I would have liked mid-level checkpoints as well. Nice job on this one!

wrldDIVISION by orbitantlers 2014-09-09T06:12:00

This idea has a ton of potential, but I feel like the actual level design resulted in some awkward flailing around. If you could clean that up and make the solutions to the levels a bit more elegant, I feel like this has the potential to be a full release.

These Cosmic Chains by ploogle 2014-09-02T03:29:00

Very nice little game with strong basic gameplay. I didn't get terribly far into it, but I did find the controls were interesting and the gravity added a lot to the mechanic. I especially like the physics on the chain, but the collision was rather unforgiving.

Sinister by Joe Williamson 2014-08-27T09:36:00

You definitely have the art and music in the bag man, even the mechanics of jumping and moving were solid. It's too bad you had to cut so much, especially since it seems like your last LD had the same problem. Please please please, next time prioritize your game design first and I think you will really create something special with the potential to go far beyond LD.

Meowrror by thiaguera 2014-09-02T02:36:00

Very nice job with the art, and I liked the fundamental concept. The sound effects/music could be better if there was a lot more variation, but I thought the pacing of the difficulty was well done. I would have liked more creativity in the level design, maybe having different room sizes, different movement mechanics, etc.

Hello Worlds by dustyroom 2014-08-27T09:28:00

Such a sweet soundtrack. I'll probably be listening to this at work tomorrow.

Inverted | Endless Runner by oranebeast 2014-09-06T06:27:00

The base mechanic is pretty good. You need to make it so that there are no impossible situations. The music was nice and intense. The small spikes were difficult to differentiate especially when they were on the blue side.

Through the Mirror by cleitoneldorn 2014-09-07T07:03:00

This game was difficult man! I think the intro and ending segments were really well done and set up the mood very well, but that was pretty quickly lost in how fast it ramped up. I feel like the movement momentum was totally unnecessary and made it very difficult to just where the player would go because a lot of the puzzles involved me holding the direction to push through. By the end, I was very frustrated since I felt like you really went out of your way to kill the player as much as possible. The music was soothing, but didn't really fit in well with the challenge and pacing of the game itself. Overall though, the game was nice and polished and the I felt like the puzzles were the major focus of your development with is the right way to do things for a game jam. Good job!

The Beginning by Nuclear Napalm 2014-09-02T04:27:00

I really enjoyed this game having actually got to the end. Still a little baffled on the lasers. I feel like the mid levels were a bit overtuned and long, but you said you fixed that. Still, I think it ramped overall pretty well, and the ending was super great. Nice job.

The Maze Of Worlds by rd127p77 2014-09-02T02:20:00

Very nice level design and exploration of the mechanics with very little wasted. I enjoy it when people focus on level design first.

Schizophrenia by Sogomn 2014-09-02T02:51:00

Very difficult game. Couldn't make it past the 3rd level. I think difficulty could ramp up a lot easier if your gravity and jump strength were lower. The level design was good and you explored a lot of different jumping puzzles using simple mechanics. One final note, your main menu was very difficult to read with the scrolling background.

Faction Wars by ra4king 2014-09-07T06:01:00

Great job making a 4x game in 72 hours! Even though the graphics were pretty minimal, I still managed to figure out what to do without much difficulty. I liked the fact that the game didn't get too difficult at the start, but it didn't seem to ramp up very much and I ended up just steamrolling through the rest of the game. I think you could have made the AI a little stronger and this game would have been significantly more fun. The simplification of the 4x experience really worked well in this game.

The mechanic is solid, even though it's a pretty simple prototype, it shows promise.

LD31 — Entire Game on One Screen

PhotoBound by PIXEL^3 2014-12-16T06:46:00

I have to say first and foremost great puzzle design. The mechanics were both intuitive and innovative, which is a very difficult task to achieve. The music was soothing and set the tone of the game very well, that being a game which delights you by defying your expectations. The way the difficult ramps up is very well managed, it never took me took long to figure out the solutions to the puzzles, but I still felt like they constantly challenged me. I was a little taken aback by the sudden precision jumping requirements because I don't think the jumping mechanics were the strength of this game. I think if you have more pure jumping puzzle parts, that didn't include the more cerebral logic puzzle element, instead of having them at the same time, it would be better because I was very anxious about losing my progress half way through the puzzles. I was very impressed that you managed to fit a platformer with scrolling levels so well into this theme. Excellent job! And I just want to re-iterate how well the levels were designed. Thanks for making this game!

P.Rick Airious by asobi tech 2014-12-17T08:16:00

Really challenging platformer that tested my patience to the limit. The dual world mechanic was pretty cool, and gave each segment a lot of variety. If it was simply a game about jumping over spikes, it would have been probably too tiresome, but you gave the game a lot more life by having the bottom stage obstacles move. Alternating between the two, and allowing the player to see the setup before they take part in it, makes the player both dread and look forward to the the next part of the challenge. I appreciate the effort that was put in to make the level transition appear natural, i.e. the entity that flew across the screen and dropped hazards, however most of the time I was too concerned with my current predicament to get a good look at it. I feel like the momentum/sliding was unnecessary at least on the ground, since you could hold the down button to immediately stop, it really just made the game much harder and more random feeling. I also felt really bad when I died multiple times in the same level because I was either holding the button still and ran into spikes after I died, or on the bottom screen, I happen to hit one of the moving obstacles, and subsequently get hit by ever single other one without being able to do anything about it. The art was pleasant for the most part, however I think the hand painted background clashes with the pixel art foreground a little. The coloring on the moving obstacles was not apparent to me until someone pointed it out because I am color blind. It is difficult for me to tell the difference between the colors used. I think the limited life mechanic lead to more disappointment than you probably were intending. I really just wanted to continue on the stage I was dying on, but I had to beat the entirety of the introductory stages over again in order to do so. Perhaps it might have been better to send the player back a few levels and fill up their lives again as a less punishing mechanic. I feel like the game really picked up at around level 30, but I didn't finish because I was getting too frustrated. Overall, I really did enjoy the game, and it provided a good challenge and ramp up from easy to brutally difficult. The mechanics all made sense, and most of the time, I felt like I could get through the levels by just playing better. Thanks a bunch for sharing your game with me!

Finish Your Project by AgentParsec 2014-12-17T06:33:00

This game was extremely slow, but set up a very melancholy mood. The music and concept work well together to give you the sensation that this is just a very draining experience which is honestly what it's like if you are a lonely creative type person. As a game, however, and especially as a jam game, I think the length of the game detracts from the overall experience. I spent what felt like quite a long time making progress on my project and only filled up a little bit past the "finish" word. I assume that this is a rather personal game for you since it defies that kinds of expectations you would have from playing most other games. As an emotional piece, it works rather well. I really with that the gameplay itself had more depth. It seemed like there wasn't actually any fail condition, which makes the game not tense, but just something that requires more endurance. If there were some mechanic that allowed me to jump start my inspiration, rather than just watching tv all day, which is honestly not a good way to inspire yourself, then I think I would have enjoyed this game more. I was able to watch the video you created to get the ending of the game, which I found rather intense. The visuals clash somewhat with the mood since everything is rather cute looking, even the UI is more colorful than you would expect. For such a depressing game, I figured you would have a lot darker tone with the art. The things you did with the audio were cool, but rather subtle to the point where I probably would not have noticed unless it was pointed out to me. Nonetheless, the music itself was very fitting with the mood. The "events" that impede progress were rather frustrating too, although I only experienced it a couple of times. I really hope you enjoyed creating this game, because I enjoyed playing it. Thanks for making this game and sharing it with me!

Hard Winter by Taldius 2014-12-17T04:50:00

I really liked the combination of exploration and tower defense in this game, and that is even more impressive that you kept with the theme of "entire game one screen". I had some trouble initially understanding the mechanics of the turrets. Sometimes it seems like they would need to reload without ever actually firing. It also seemed like once you got to the point where you were covering all four directions that the yeti's came from, you were pretty much good and didn't need to worry about much other than reloading the turrets. The music on the title screen and in game was really well matched with the pace of the game, however the sound effects that you put in for reloading the turret were a little too looney-toons-ish and made things sound strange. I felt like the weapon you were given wasn't effective at times, but was super effective at other times. The fire rate seemed really inconsistent (sometimes I could fire super fast). The collision detection on the weapon was also really inconsistent. The game also ended very suddenly with a victory screen. There didn't seem to be much of a build up to the final battle. I really liked the effects on the yetis exploding, and also on the pickups. Visually the game seemed a bit too high contrast and important information like which wave you are on gets lost in the visual noise, especially since you have to dedicate a lot of prime screen real-estate to the picture in picture of the player exploration. It might have been better to have the PiP be a little alpha'd out so you could see through it. I think the base idea of exploring while defending your base creates a good amount of tension, but I really only felt that tension at the beginning when you had no turrets. It there were slightly more strategy to how the turrets interact with the enemies, I think this could go really far as a concept. All in all though, really cool idea, and I'm really glad I got to play! Thanks for making this game and I hope to see you again for next LD!

The Reaping by zatyka 2014-12-20T05:52:00

An enjoyable little adventure on a single screen! I think the intensity of the setting clashes with the simplicity of the art style. The box-like characters looked pretty strange (I found it odd that everyone was bald), it's just hard to nail down what these people are or where they are. For example they use swords and crossbows instead of guns, but they still have lightbulbs? Overall the art works well for clearly indicating what things are and which things are clickable, which is really important for an adventure game. The art for the reaper was pretty sick, and the way the sun sets and transitions to night was done really well.

The UI for the game was very intuitive. I was able to get into the game and figure out several of the minor puzzles really quickly. There were a few times where I felt the controls for interaction didn't work, I would release the mouse button on an options and nothing would happen.

It was fun going through the different endings to see what happens, although I had to look up how to get to the brother. The fact that I could partially go behind the alter before "pulling" it really confused me. I enjoyed that the final battle was not simply just another narrative event, and the player had to actually take part in it. It wasn't actually that easy to click on the attack button enough times to survive (I almost didn't). The "final" ending with the brother showing up and randomly saving the entire human race was unexpected, and pretty unsatisfying.

The music for the adventure sequence seemed really good for setting the mode, but the music during the actual battle seemed like like JRPG battle music than something that would play over a fight for your life in a desperate world where humanity is on its last legs.

Overall, I think the game was just a little too simple to really give a solid adventure game experience, but the mood and the setting somewhat make up for that. Thanks for creating this game and letting everyone play it! Hope you can join us again for the next LD!

1 Screen Hero by zerocreativity1 2014-12-16T05:18:00

Sick game man. I had a ton of fun playing through this. The time pressure in addition to the randomly selected level exits add so much to this experience which would otherwise be a still pretty solid action arena combat game. The level design was fantastic and I am hugely impressed that you were able to design 90 rooms given the time constraints. Every level felt different and there was even variety in the way that the individual levels played out mixing combat and movement puzzles (?) The only complaint I have is that the art didn't clearly show the attack hit boxes for both the hero character and the enemies. The art and music was fantastic and really show the level of polish you guys were able to add to the game. Overall I am envious of your abilities! Thank you for making this game.

One Room Dungeon by HacksawUnit 2014-12-20T05:05:00

Pretty cool little arena combat game. Very simple mechanics, but it builds up to be very difficult rather quickly without getting too frustrated. I like how fast it is to get back into the game, and I found myself playing over and over again even though I had just figured I'd play one more time. The fact that you cannot attack up is rather difficult to deal with considering the enemies have a fair amount of vertical movement. The jumping enemy was particularly difficult to deal with since it was immune to damage while jumping and seemed to have a little bit of immunity after it was just hit. The rusher enemies were fun to fight since you could kind of combo them against the wall, however doing so would sometimes push them off your horizontal plane so that you had to adjust to be able to attack them again. This would happen somewhat randomly, which was frustrating. I really think if you were able to hit the jumping enemies while they were mid jump animation, the game would have been a lot more fun for me. I think the spawning sometimes put me in unrecoverable situations without me being able to do much about it. The rate at which enemies spawned in became unmanageable after maybe a minute, which is pretty good as far as the difficulty ramp goes, but the fact that the key and chest spawn in random locations each time the level resets meant that I was mostly lucky to get a higher score than more skillful. I feel like maybe there should have been some kind of rebounding mechanic to keep you in the game once it got to the point where there were too many enemies. The art was really good for being as low pixel density as it was. The enemies and player character were pretty expressive, and the play field was very clear. The music was pretty spot on for this type of game and the sound effects gave good feedback for hits. Pretty solid entry overall. Thanks for letting me play your game!

Super Action Man by TeamQuadratic 2014-12-16T07:05:00

Man, I never confirmed dinner, now I don't know what to do with my life. I also really like that dude's beard, I think he was cool, why did he haf to die.

On a more somber note, great job with this game. The mechanics were sloppy, but silly enough that it didn't matter much. I had no idea that things in the second level were killing me until you pointed it out, and the cars in the first level acted more like Medusa heads than cars, but that don't matta. I was enjoying every moment. Nominations for best voice acting, and best story.

Precise Shot by TimBeaudet 2014-12-20T04:29:00

Pretty sweet little arcade game here. The gameplay was simple, but intuitive and fun to try to master. I had some trouble with the targets being to low. I believe there should be a way to hit 100% all great shots + power shots which one could maybe consider "beating" the game, however, when the targets were too low, it didn't allow me to get the power shot and still hit the target. I found that aspect of the game frustrating, as well as the "drop arrow" mechanic. I can see a lot of ways to add more variety to the gameplay such as moving targets, different types of arrows, weather effects, even enemies potentially. As it is now, it feels a little incomplete. The master bow mechanic felt too random since the arrow seemed to follow its own path without much intervention by me. In order to have a mechanic that the player is expected to master, I believe you should have a much easier to understand mechanic behind the bow physics, and just make the actual execution of it more difficult. I think the art works really well, but it is also somewhat based on existing visuals for very similar games. The background was good at separating the foreground elements to keep things clear. The music was felt a little off to me, I would expect a more whimsical theme with the music given that it's an archery game. The electric guitar and tempo particularly seemed to not fit with the mood. The end screen was pretty satisfying, and I liked the sound effects for when the stars show up. There seemed to be a bug where I had more power shots than total shots. I also really wanted a scoring mechanic to judge my progress as I got better. Overall though, I had fun play the game. Really nice work polishing what you made. Thanks for sharing your game, and I hope you join us again for next LD!

Blue Cave by NuSan 2014-12-20T06:43:00

I was literally flailing around for about 10 minutes with this game before I managed to kill the cave boss. The biggest problem I have with this game seems to be that picking up more flails, even though it should feel awesome, makes the game so much harder. The weight of extra flails cause them to never really get off the ground. I feel like a lot of the problems stem from the fact that the flails are not attached to the player, they're attached to some other attach point which is then attached to the player. The spring force of this attachment is not strong enough to sustain the weight of multiple flails. The optimal strategy seemed to be to jump on top of the enemy and force him down into your flail instead of swinging the flail into them.

The pickups (aside from extra flails) also seemed a little overpowered. I was able to live quite easily with tons of bats and the boss shooting at me by just picking up the invincibility shield and health pickups when I needed them. The collision on the platforms also seemed a bit off. I could stand on the side of a platform and sometimes even jump from it. It was a little frustrating that you couldn't jump when standing on flails, especially when I had a ton of them. It felt like I couldn't move. In some ways this game was too easy and in other ways it was too hard.

I think the art and music mostly worked well for how simple they were though the scale of the player in relation to the bats was a little absurd. The music sounded somewhat halloween-ish, but also a little hammy which works for the concept. Overall though I still have fun with the idea, and I think with some tweaks this could be a super fun game. I'm looking forward to see what you can come up with for the next LD!

#CorporateCrimewave by DrHahn 2014-12-17T04:00:00

Really cool abstraction of a stealth sneak game into very simple mechanics. The vision cones on the patrols and cameras where instantly recognizable, and for the most part everything really made sense. None of the puzzles were too involved, and I was able to make steady progress without ever getting frustrated. You have so many different mechanics that each level felt fresh and challenging. The double agents were confusing to me though since they did counter-intuitive things like suiciding into turrets and other enemies. Whenever they showed up, things just seemed to work out without me having to do much so I never felt like they added to the game. The pacing and difficulty ramp were pretty much flawless, the only time I had to stop and ask for help was the first time I had to move through and empty space since I was so used to micro-managing my movement. The overall visual presentation of the game felt muddled, since I am color-blind, I was frequently unable to locate my character at the beginning of the level since the character sprite blended in with the background. I feel like you could have done something to draw the players attention to the character location such as animating or pulsing the colors. The intro hints were really nice for giving some clues on the mechanics for that level. I just wish you could restart the level a little bit faster when you died. Again, super solid level design and I'm really impressed that you were able to get so many well designed levels with such good ramping in the short amount of time. Great game, and thanks for making and sharing it with me!

Alfred Bonzo by oxysoft 2014-12-20T07:05:00

This game was very strange. I had a lot trouble getting it to load in the first place. I eventually worked in firefox, but only after a few minutes of loading. There was no loading screen to indicate that it was doing so. I also managed to break the game, after surviving for about 30 seconds, no more enemies spawned, and the game sort of just kept going on forever. I waited for the music to stop, but the game just kept going so I eventually committed suicide. I also had some severe framerate issues in firefox when a lot of enemies were on screen.

The art style for this game is confusing. The in game art looks nice for being very simple low res pixel art, however this clashes a lot with the title screen art, which makes the player character look like a potato. The enemies looked pretty good for only being a few pixels, and the play field was clearly indicated. It might have been a little too low res though since it wasn't actually clear what the player or the thing that the player was protecting is. The music was also a little strange since it sounded like someone recording a midi keyboard. It didn't really fit the computerized theme of the game that much, and was otherwise a little repetitive.

The gameplay itself was pretty fun, I was trying to strategize how to maintain the chipset in center position by allowing certain enemies to hit it before it broke. I could see this game being a lot of fun if the major issues were fixed, and maybe some more enemies were added. I also like how the attack affected the chipset so that you could move it around quickly if you needed.

Overall, this game was fun in a really weird way and I have a feeling that's what you were going for. In the future, you should go back and try to fix major issues that prevent the game from working (this is allowed post-submission under the LD rules). Hope you come back and make another game with us!

Republik Power & Light by JavadocMD 2014-12-17T07:01:00

Really cool idea here. I enjoyed the interface a lot with the CRT effects and film grain really selling the idea that you're in an oppressive monotonous job. The concept itself was really funny, and you did a good job of selling it with the writing. The idea that you are in a position that is basically set up to fail is pretty clever, and I see a lot of the game "Paper's Please" in this piece. The highlighting for keyword inputs was also clever in indicating what the player should do without any explicit hand holding or tutorializing. The mechanics themselves were a little too simple for my taste. I felt like you could have added a little bit more in terms of the interesting events that occur during gameplay. The most I ended up surviving was only two hours. I did some experiments trying to mange things in a lazy way, but ended up having to vent too much to survive. You did a good job making the systems you had in place all balanced and important. I think it would have been cool to add some keypress or print out like audio effects if you had time. Overall, pretty sick idea, really funny concept, and great job polishing the interface. Thanks for letting me play your game, and I really hope that you come back next time!

Screen Ego Aegis by LegacyCrono 2014-12-16T06:12:00

I feel like you have the beginnings of a very cool tower defense game here. I like the way way that you placed the towers and the fact that there was limited tower space. The towers themselves there not very interesting though. Since they only shot in cardinal directions, there was almost no strategy to placing them. I feel like having each tower have an activated ability or having more towers would have increased the interest I have in this game. As it stands now, I was able to figure out what seems to be the optimal strategy very quickly (namely having a back row of spreaders and a front row of bouncers). Most of the damage against the spider game from the player, which seems counter intuitive in a tower defense game where you generally want the towers to be the principal focus of the player. I think the sound design was very grating because of the frequency of sound effects happening. When you have such a simple sound effect playing over top itself that much, it tends to loose its distinct punchlines and just sound mushy. It would have been good to have the towers only play the sound once, but I felt like they played the sound effect for each bullet they shot. Overall the sound effects had good feedback though. The art style and concept were clever and fun. I liked the hit reactions of the spiders, and I think you did a good job of making the variety of spiders interesting with the advancing waves. By the end I was getting overrun, but I felt like that's where the game was really getting started (that was at around wave 13). If the game had got that difficult sooner, I would have enjoyed it more because the frantic way that you have to re-position your turrets adds a lot to the gameplay. Great job and I look forward to seeing what you come up with in future LDs.

0000 : Press Z by alvarop 2014-12-16T05:47:00

I had a lot of fun playing this game. It is very reminiscent of games like I want to be the guy/boshi. The jumping mechanics felt a little too loose for my taste, and it took more time than I would have wanted to get really comfortable with the controls. The level design was pretty well thought out and the way that you transition between screens was really interesting and added another layer of strategy on top of the normal gameplay. I only wish that the level you transition to was more predictable so that you could strategize on where to die to give yourself and advantage on the next screen. The audio was a little lax but didn't take away from anything. Having a fast paces music loop would have gone a long way. Overall, really challenging and satisfying to complete. I only died 72 times =( I'm just too casual I guess. Thanks for sharing your game!

Silian Rail by Warboys 2014-12-16T04:53:00

I really like the concept behind this game. The way that you have to manage space and try to keep in mind the way that the game will progress - getting more difficult as you advance through the ranks - creates very interesting gameplay. Unfortunately, the collision was very problematic and caused numerous gameplay issues such as unpredictable reflections of the rumors and causing the player to get stuck on the environment. I think these problems could definitely be solved with a little bit of preparation. Very nice job overall, keep practicing and you'll have a much easier time on your next LD!

Natquik by shadow64 2014-12-20T04:07:00

I have sympathy for people who had overly ambitious plans for their game, and things might have got in the way. That being said, I think you have the beginning of some strong elements here. The concept and visuals are really cool, and the post card aesthetic was a really clever idea. I especially like the water-color like animations for the dude in the middle walking. I found the music was somewhat at odds with the (potentially) hardcore survival elements that are indicated in the bottom left. All in all, it was a strong start, but obviously didn't get far enough to go anywhere. Can't wait to see the final product, and I hope you come back for the next LD with all the stuff you learned from working on this game!

Walk to the door by el-pepi 2014-12-17T05:56:00

Really cool idea here, having the character traverse through a computer window based environment. The puzzles were very well designed, not too difficult, but difficult enough that I felt smart when I found the solution. I really enjoyed the pre-programming aspect of leaving certain windows in strategic locations in order to solve the puzzles. I feel like you might be able to push this even further by incorporating more spatial elements to the puzzles, namely positioning of the directional orbs. The amount of mechanics that you had was spot on since each level re-used techniques from previous levels, but also added new ones to keep things interesting. Having the menu options show up in the "star menu" and the level counter show up as the time was a really nice touch. The music was fitting to the idea, and the art, though simple, worked really well as a basis for the mechanics. I feel like you could have given the player a little bit more leeway on collision with the teleporters since moving the window to hit the orbs while the character is also moving requires a lot of dexterity and felt hard to control. All in all, it's pretty crazy that you managed to create such an impressive and polished game on your first LD! Can't wait to see what you come up with next time, and I hope that you feel like your idea was a success even though it didn't come to you right away!

Keep Watching by Ken Scott 2014-12-20T05:22:00

This has a clever premise, but seems to not be much more than that. The game inside of a game is not compelling enough for me to actually want to search for it when it moves to another screen. There is a lot of potential in this idea for making the player confused and unsettled if you were intending the player to feel like that. The music loop was too short, but was good at indicating where the active screen was. I think the Doppler on the audio when you move around was really strange sounding, and for the most part the sound effects were too harsh (especially the attack sound). Moving the character around inside the screen was really strange feeling since he didn't seem to always play the right facing animation. Also forcing the character to move on a grid felt bad, and the attack felt frustrating since it forced you to stand still. I really wanted the game inside of the game to have a goal, or at the very least some kind of failure condition but it did not. Sometimes the enemies would hurt you from getting attack since they got thrown back from the direction they were moving in, which felt frustrating as well. The lighting on the active monitor was a nice touch to indicate to the player where to go, and I rarely had too much trouble repositioning. If there was something in the interior game to make the player feel rushed to find the new monitor, I feel like this idea would work a lot better. If you plan to keep working on this idea, I could definitely see it going somewhere. If not, I hope you join us for the next LD! Thanks for making your game!

The Room by Kain.Oborin 2014-12-17T09:09:00

Very interesting mystery, and damn does it get serious by the end! The positioning of the stones was a bit inconsistent, most of them were easy to find because they were place in very salient parts of the room, however the first stone in the candles was rather difficult to find, only after prompting me that I had missed one of the stones did I realize it was there. The way things unfolded were pretty fun to watch, however, there were a few things that confused me, like being able to break the mirror instead of going through the door again. Also it was never explained what the stones were or how many there were or why you were collecting them. I really enjoyed the climax since it took a completely unexpected turn. I'm not quite sure what impact the choices I made at the end of the game had. Did I pick the right stone? I seemed to beat the game, but it might have just been luck. Really interesting concepts here, and the kernel of a more complete game exists to expand on those ideas into a story that is much deeper and less expository. I hope you continue to explore the ideas that you started to explore with this game and make it into something great. The format that you used was plenty rife for opportunity to do so. Thanks for sharing your game with me!

MACHO KNIGHT by hundredhundred 2014-12-17T05:14:00

Mechanically, this game suffers from being too simple. I was able to get to a high score of 260+, and the challenge was not increasing at all. My strategy was very simply just running back and forth, which was not particularly interesting. I also noticed some issues with the sound - when you knock a guy off the side the camera shake causes a slight Doppler effect in the music which sounds like an audio glitch. This was particularly pronounced when I had the game zoomed in while using it in web player mode. The sprites for the macho knight and the girl were super cute, and the music set a fun and quirky tone for the game which matched the gameplay and visuals. I'm interested in your screenshots because they show the fort from a wider angle than I saw in game - this makes me wonder if I was missing something. I feel like you probably could have pushed the mechanics a little harder and made this into a really fun game. Overall though, I had fun, and I'm really looking forward to seeing what you guys come up with for the next LD! Thanks for sharing your game with me!

Hop & Chop by Pat Kemp 2014-12-17T05:30:00

Super simple and mostly elegant game man! I really enjoyed the fact that you had different types of attacks and that you really had to pay attention to what you were going to shoot next. There was one level (the pork buns level) where I was pretty confused as to what I needed to do, but I managed to figure it out without you explicitly telling me. Some of the level felt like I won without trying much, mostly just pure luck that I was able to finish, and finish with even high score than the level required. The character felt most of the time out of control and it was rather difficult to line up shots. I feel like if you had an reticule or aim indicator, it would go a long way to making the game feel better. Also if you had slightly more control over the character, it would allow you to make the levels more difficult and interesting. Overall I was delighted to experience this as each level seemed to introduce some new way to shoot the crap out of unsuspecting foodstuffs. The art was fantastic and really gave me some expectations that were immediately broken by the initial gameplay - namely that you are a cook who's completely insane. Very fun overall, slightly too short to really sink my teeth into, but I was almost never frustrated. I would like to see this game continued as it would make a really fun time waster for mobile. Thanks for sharing your game with me and I look forward to your next LD!

Beat+Trak by Lynx 2014-12-20T06:14:00

Really stylish music game here. The underlying mechanic behind though is somewhat problematic. I think the reliance on spectral band data to identify the beat causes a lot of issues, since it never really perfectly give you a beat. Also the fact that you are not actually tapping to the beat causes my brain to get confused. The accuracy that you require in order to get a high multiplier is pretty insane, and I think that is related to the sloppiness of the beat data provided by the FFT. The way that the path overlaps itself can make it very difficult to determine which layer the overlapping part of the path.

I really like the color scheme that you used, and how the beat of the song affects the visuals. The timer overlapping the score made both of them slightly hard to read (moreso the score than the other). I also like how the play field rotates slightly as the game goes on. Overall the attitude of this game is really cool, and the track that you use to generate the gameplay is pretty sick. I can definitely see you pushing this game a lot further in terms of polish and effects to make something really fun, so I hope you continue. Thanks for sharing your game with me!

Inventory by TheMeorch 2014-12-20T03:57:00

I have played this very game inside of other games like Diablo or DayZ too many times to count. I just want a bigger bag god damnit. It's a funny idea to make an entire game about inventory management, but I don't know if this kind of gameplay is very fun on its own. Todd didn't make it, but we filled up our story quota anyway. I had some problems with the rotation, it seems like the pivot point was not centered on some pieces, which meant I had to click outside the window to place items (which obviously doesn't work) I really like the simple art on all the items, and how you convey the story of the game through the actual inventory management (requiring the player to fill in a lot of the blanks since the items are most of the time nonsensical). The only other thing I can really say is that the interface itself is rather stark (gray on black). I think maybe changing up the color choice on the background would have gone a long way. Nice job indicating what each piece was through the outline though. Mostly intuitive once I got the basics down, and really funny ending. Thanks for creating your game!

Houston, We've Got a Problem by MrBadIvan 2014-12-16T07:45:00

I really liked this game, so much so that I didn't even realize I had been playing it for kind of a long time. The music does a lot for setting up the mood of sending dudes into space. It's intuitive to build and ship and send it off, and it's a lot of fun to look at the mission log and see how people died or if they miraculously survived the entire mission. I think I found the winning combination though (maybe?) but it didn't seem to have any scientists in it. I did not understand the goal of the game other than to have people survive. There was an indication of how much science I got from a mission but there was no indicator for how much science I needed to get from a mission. The mechanics for if a colonist gets eaten or dies or really does anything was not apparent, but I think that is okay since it adds to the more realistic aspect of unpredictability in space travel. I really wanted there to be more to this, so I am really glad that you guys are planning on extending this game to be more than just was it is in the jam. It's a pretty interesting idea and I hope you go far with it. I think you guys are on the right track.

GTAlien by Pulsartronic 2014-12-16T08:35:00

The animations in the game were delicious. The ragdolls looked great, the idle animation was hilarious and I was impressed that you got the tongue attaching to the corpses as the flew threw the air. The gameplay was simple but fun, and again I think the animations added a lot here to make the game challenging. The attacks were weighty and had a wind up to them so it was fun to try and time your hits. The challenge ramp up was pretty good up until around 25 corpses eaten, at which point it became nearly impossible. The spawn rate on the cops was far too high and the fact that killing a cop made the pedestrians run away added even more to the difficulty. If you were able to pick up cops, it would fix this issue, but that might ruin the difficulty curve (worth an experiment). I feel like the cars in the post-compo version were funny, but took away from the tightness of the game as a whole since you would unpredictably die to them quite often. The music was fun and created a appropriate atmosphere for the game, i.e. fun and weird. And the art style, though simple worked really well and was surprisingly nice to look at. Really fun, even though I never got to the awesome win screen. Thanks for making this game!

Lumit by Leaghorn 2014-12-17T03:25:00

I had fun playing this game, but I felt like I was totally out of control for the most part. For some reason, I felt like the game might have actually been getting easier as the speed of the level picked up and the size of the orbs got smaller. It would have probably been a good idea to have a timer on screen to show when the orbs were about to split, and I think that having the orbs split on a slightly slower timer might have made the game more interesting. As it is now, I tended to just pick on orb and try to keep it in the center as much as I could, but even doing that I wasn't able to break 20k. The music was pretty fitting in keeping the game fast paced, but it clashed somewhat at the beginning when things were moving really slowly. The art was mostly functional, however the only problem I see with it is that the red outline became a little hard to notice when the level speed picked up (I am red-green colorblind so it was extra bad for me). I feel like you probably could have pushed the art a little more to make the feel of the game more fun to play. Overall though, really challenging, good pacing once the level started getting going, and really interesting idea. Thanks a lot for creating and sharing your game with me!

The Adventures of King Pistachio by gquibao 2014-12-17T03:03:00

I had a lot of fun playing through this. The platforming was very simple but the addition of the fireballs falling from the sky made things a _lot_ more interesting. I had to constantly be looking in two places, but dodging the fireballs really forced me to think about positioning a lot, which was fun. The art was very simple, but it was immediately apparent to me what everything did, including the falling platforms. The timing and movement on the platforms and fireballs was done really well. I never felt like it was totally unfair except for on the last boss which I was able to figure out after a few attempts. The collision detection was a little wonky (which I used to my benefit) i.e. you could jump through a platform and then be inside of it, which made the game quite a bit easier than it probably should have, but it also made the game feel a lot better, especially since I died a lot and had to restart. The earlier levels were still fun to go through since I was experimenting and getting better with the controls. Thanks for letting me play your game! Hope you can come back and do another LD!

Escape Character by Zi 2014-12-16T08:54:00

I loved this game! So many little touches that added to the experience. I just wanted to explore everything. I enjoyed the nods to zelda at the beginning when you pick up the cursor as your attack (pretty clever). The way that you moved around and interacted with this was extremely intuitive since it's all based on normal computer interactions. Every time a window opened up, I was delighted to find what it contained. Even though you didn't get to finish, I still feel like I played a fun game. The combat was a little strange since it felt like I was not taking damage when I should. Not complaining though since that second combat was a little on the difficult side (reminded me of those rooms full of blue knights in zelda tbh). Having the time in the bottom right reflect the real time on my machine was a nice touch. The post effects to add the graininess and slight fish eye distortion looked really really nice, and the overall look of the game was fantastic, especially the animations on the enemies and attack. There's so much potential here and I really hope you continue this project to make it into a complete game! Thanks for creating this and letting the world see it!

ROCKROCKET by Backterria 2014-12-16T04:28:00

Amazing job! I really liked the audio loop and moodiness of the piece. The jumping puzzles were fun to explore, but got a bit frustrating when you couldn't figure out where to go and when you were asked to make very difficult jumps in order to traverse through the space. The way the game unfolds without any explicit direction other than the mysterious entities that show you what they want was done extremely well. The jumping was also a little too slippery, and I feel like I could have finished the game quicker if I was able to control myself better. All in all, fantastic game, and I can't wait to see what you do in the next LD!

15 Stage Rage by YakkApps 2014-12-17T07:35:00

I raged. Then I raged again. Then I raged again and again. But in the end, the game couldn't hold me down. I spent a lot of time on the first set of levels, but after I found the warp zone, I was much more invested in the game. I realize that these are supposed to be secrets, but I feel like with the paranoia that you experience playing through these games, you probably should have given at least some hint that the warps exist, and it still would have been challenging and fun. I really would have preferred tighter controls with no momentum, because it just wasn't predictable where my player was going to end up. Even with all the hidden deadly stuff in this game, I still feel like you should make the player feel as though they are responsible for their own death (beyond the invisible stuff that you figure out the first time through). The rooms themselves were deadly, but nothing was too unintuitive, even the rooms that changed the player mechanics were interesting instead of confusing. I did skip a few of the rooms, so I didn't experience all of the pain, but I still felt like I was thoroughly challenged. Good job testing my limits, I was considering giving up, but in the end, I always made at least some progress. Hope you had a lot of fun making this game, and watching people stumble their way through it. Can't wait to see what horrible ways you kill the player are in the next LD you participate in! Thanks for sharing your game with me!

SIRTET by stray 2014-12-16T08:07:00

Super slick little game. I can definitely understand how this game got 9k plays in two days on Kongregate. The basic idea is so simple and elegant and intuitive, it all just pretty much works together. The mechanic of getting a bonus line for turning all lines "on" was not indicated or taught at all, so you could probably do a better job of calling that out. I think you could also change that mechanic to be a little more apparent but just having it be a bonus multiplier or the like. I was disappointed to hear that you added sound and changed the controls post-compo. You should really have kept the original submission available and given a post compo version link as well. For sure try to make this into something as it fits to well into the mobile space! Really, just an awesome job!

Beat Bop Delicious by Kitch 2014-12-17T04:19:00

Very cool little game about trying to keep everyone happy. Feeling like middle management was never so much fun! The different elements were each enjoyable in their own ways to deal with, and I like how each of the later elements built upon previous mechanics. The final element was a good way to keep the player busy in between managing other knobs. The way that the gameplay tied in with the music also added a lot to making this game enjoyable since you wanted to keep the song playing at full capacity as much as possible. I feel like you could have been a little more lax on the clickable areas of the switches and the text popping up to disrupt your concentration didn't seem to make the game any better. It just became extra noise, which is something you probably don't want in a music game (unless of course you do something incorrect). Overall, really cool game that tests your apm and accuracy! Thanks for letting me play it!

LD32 — An Unconventional Weapon

Animancer by Nick Weihs 2015-04-21T17:26:00

@GeorgeBroussard My process involves creating the game initially with an engine/tools set that I made based on XNA. I then import everything into Unity using a compatibility layer that I also made. I've linked the unity source in the description.

There was no ducking, but there were ducks. 5/5

Spread The Village by Luminar 2015-05-11T04:54:00

Rather slow city building game where the main threat seemed to always come from the main direction. I didn't see the need to really build anything ever, just blow up the baddies before they got to anything. The music was relaxing, but the city expansion got to be glacial near the end. I think it needs a bit more gameplay to really hook me in. Overall pretty decent, good job!

Shield Of Eternal Night by LTyrosine 2015-05-11T04:34:00

The art reminded me of old dungeon crawlers like Moraff's world or Ultima Underworld. I think the game's difficulty ramp was a bit too slow to keep my interested, and the controls were rather frustrating. The main problem I had was the mouse not locking to the unity web player window, but the shield was rather hard to control regardless. A lot of times I ended up just holding the mouse on an enemy while my shield bounced and bobbed around them until it finally caught on. Overall, pretty good though! Thanks for sharing your game =)

Cat-amorphasis by UltraRat 2016-04-20T22:33:00

I never expected you would make a sequel to Next Gen Cat, and this is not it. Great work nonetheless. The cat-loaf mechanics were a blast to play even though they didn't seem to work at all. I give it a 7.5 out of 6.21

LD38 — A Small World

Intergalactic Gold Rush by Omiya Games 2017-05-01T21:19:14Z

Very cool visually appealing game. I really enjoyed spawning in the new swaths of lands and collecting things. The random generation adds a lot of variety and puts you in interesting situations. There is a lot to build on here. I feel like if you wanted to take this game further, you could add a lot of variety through powerups, enemies, and rogue-like elements. The music was pretty good, and the the art worked really well with everything else. The only thing I didn't like was the fact you could walk off the edge of the world, because sometimes I mistakenly thought I could spawn new land and kept moving towards the edge as if I could. Otherwise really fun and well balanced.

Invasion - The Chronicle by Kappa.B 2017-05-01T23:39:01Z

Hey man, really cool game. I can see where you are going with it, but a lot of it feels incomplete. Building stuff was fun, but I don't know if the deck building aspect really worked out that well since it was just frustrating to not get the one you needed. I think have a tower defense/city builder is a really cool concept though. Maybe you could make the deck building part more ancillary to the main game. I feel like the aiming could have been a lot more player driven to make the game more fun. If it was easier to control where you aim, you could have a lot better pacing by making the gameplay a little more twitchy. I could see if being very chaotic if you had to manage aiming a lot closer while simultaneously building your planet up.

o, the game by pta2002 2017-05-01T20:43:25Z

Very cool simple game. I don't think I could get more than 78 as a score (I got it twice in a row) since the game gets a little to insane at about that point. I feel like in order to make this a more complete game, you would need something to allow the player to reset the collapsation rate, which would give it a bit of pacing as well. Awesome art style just using circles and ovals. I grew to hate ovals very much over the course of playing this game. Thanks for letting me play your game on stream!

Inter-Tidal Snail Breeder Deluxe by uvwar 2017-05-02T00:40:43Z

Nice simple little game you have here. I definitely have more understanding of what it's like to be a snail now. That tidal current was off the chain! It was pretty funny how you had to breed on the go in order to save your snail population, but it was also pretty chaotic. I wish those snails lived a little bit longer so they could see at least one tide through. It was pretty intense when the tide came out and none of the snails were near any food. It was like a very slow checkmate situation. Overall pretty chill, hopefully next time you could really boost the polish on your game with some sound effects and music!

Evacuator! by Robber 2017-05-01T23:59:51Z

You would think if there were so many lives on the line, they would give you a faster truck. Sadly I couldn't save all of them, but I saved what I could and I got my well deserved statue for it. Also, how can these people not just move to higher ground huh? They got legs!

The game is really simple, and the fact that you can't save everyone is a little frustrating, tbh. The art style is really cool and does a really good job of communicating the gameplay. The procedural motor sound effect was cool, but after a while it started to hurt my ears a little bit. I kind of wish there was a little bit more game to it in terms of what choices you have during the course of playing.

Eine Kleine Insektmusik by davidthelazar 2017-05-01T20:29:55Z

Really cool game my friends. I liked trying to outrun the hammers, and being trapped in between two hammers that were constantly playing was super intense! I died a few times, but overall it was pretty easy. I would like there to be more goals aside from just surviving during the interlude parts. Build on this a bit more and it could be a really fun game for the ages!

Antnator by sachos345 2017-05-01T23:06:30Z

Nice job my friend. I would prefer is the enemies were a little less tanky and a little more interesting rather than just going back and forth on a path. The jumping mechanics were a little too quick for my taste, it was rather difficult to make vertical jumps up to ledges and jumping over bullets felt random. I liked the weapon design, there was quite a lot of variety, and some of the weapons felt like they took some mastery to user properly. There were a few moments when I was just mowing through the enemies that I felt like a true badass. I feel like the level design got a little easier by the end especially with the ramp up in weapon strength, and that boss fight didn't exactly hit the mark for me =) Overall a solid game. Thanks for letting me play it on stream!

Star keeper by Alexandr AndroidDev 2017-05-01T22:41:34Z

Very nice chill experience. I was trying to just my MLG-PRO skills to zap all the space gunk in a row, and in the end, I grew a space flower. Not much of a challenge, but still had really nice music and made me feel relaxed. The fact that the world wrapped did a good job of selling the small world theme. It was fun, and I'm glad that I grew that space flower, but where are those stars attached from? No one will even know! Thanks for sharing your game with me. =)

LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

Fox Flares by aeveis 2017-12-12T06:56:27Z

Very nice little project you have here. I will say a few of the checkpoints I didn't understand what to do, but after thinking about it for a few moments I was able to make progress, and made it through without getting stuck much at all. The platforming was a little tricky at times, but nothing I couldn't handle. Very enjoyable!

slashdown by maysick 2017-12-12T06:46:47Z

Pretty harsh to force people to buy downgrades =P I liked the movement and the attack although sometimes I felt like I missed when I should have hit. It gets hard really fast.
