Great idea, with good graphic style. Thank you for your work :) Would you like tocheck my game? https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/$24684

This was a pretty interesting idea and I loved the graphics style. The game was overall solid and my only real gripe is that navigation based on the mini-map was a bit difficult (probably cause of the perspective of topdown on the mini map vs the angle of the actual game) Other than that great game!

Hey there, the things that I really liked about this game was the graphics and the sound, it was so fun trying to save everyone, and trying to find the best way thru the level to get the most people possible, the only thing i didnt like what that I couldn't save everybody, also I really loved the sound of the car, to me it sounded realistic and fit perfectly with the game, Good job!

very cool idea was intense trying to get everyone and not being able to save all! :O graphic style is nice and i like how the path is shown when hovering over terrain.

Save as much as you can, but choose carefully! Maybe saying that stranded guy on the other side of the map means leaving a bunch more people to a certain death. "If only human could swim!" your repeat in your head, but it's too late, the water is rising, and P.E.J.D.S. is the only hope for mankind!

The graphics of this game are really well done, fitting with the game concept. A use of very flat texture on the hex grid help a lot with understanding the map and focusing on the level of each tile.

The only thing I could suggest to improve the game is to allow the player to change his/her mind after choosing a destination tile. If you click on another tile while moving, the truck will change destination. This would help greatly with the feel of the game.

(You can see me playing this game for the first time on the vod https://youtu.be/_Upt3PIzndo?t=1h20m6s )

Interesting gameplay, but with the people not even trying to move toward the one vehicle that can save them, maybe it'd be better to let natural selection do it's work?

Regardless, I like how you made the map heights so that the shortest path is not necessarily the optimal path.

You would think if there were so many lives on the line, they would give you a faster truck. Sadly I couldn't save all of them, but I saved what I could and I got my well deserved statue for it. Also, how can these people not just move to higher ground huh? They got legs!

The game is really simple, and the fact that you can't save everyone is a little frustrating, tbh. The art style is really cool and does a really good job of communicating the gameplay. The procedural motor sound effect was cool, but after a while it started to hurt my ears a little bit. I kind of wish there was a little bit more game to it in terms of what choices you have during the course of playing.

Great stuff! Felt the tense situation so great points on mood!

This worked quite well, nice puzzle game trying to figure out which order to pick them up in. The sound was very loud and jarring, had to turn it down. Movement was a bit slow. I liked the graphics, the truck was very cute.

Its a good start for a puzzler! I would say the main thing it needs is some camera controls. You could also consider randomizing the terrain and the citizens starting locations! Playing the game here: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/139473859 (starting at 21:25)

Interesting concept. I like the constraint of a shrinking world, it has potential to create some interesting dilemmas for the player. However, while I was playing the game I felt like I didn't have enough control to do what I wanted to do. I also felt that the decisions I was making were not very interesting. I didn't feel like I was getting any better at the game by thinking or playing more.

**Some random subjective thoughts and hypotheticals:**

I think there is some information that, if better communicated, would give the player more control. For example, knowing exactly how many steps it would take for a space to become flooded would make it fun to plan the route. Some reward for picking up passengers would be cool, for example maybe a certain passenger can stop time for a bit (unrealistic, sure, but games are meant to be fun, not realistic :stuck_out_tongue:). Maybe some variety of refugees would make the decisionmaking a bit more interesting, like maybe some hexagon contains a refugee that has extra gas, so they'll allow you to go further, but perhaps they're further away than, say, a large group of refugees that is closer to you. Perhaps instead of saving refugees immediately upon contact, you actually have to bring them to pick-up zones to be helicopter-ed out, but the more refugees you carry, the slower you move or something, so the player has to strike a balance.

I guess what I'm trying to say here is that the decisionmaking process could be much deeper and more nuanced, and I personally think that makes for a compelling game.

I could go on, ultimately it's up to you to decide what to do with the game. Again, these are just some lighthearted suggestions that you don't have to follow.

The mesh of a typically turn-based movement system with a real-time threat of the water rising was interesting, though I'm not sure I really liked it. I would have like a much faster truck so that retrieving jetpacks was actually a concern. I went about as fast as I could and never had to go get jetpacks. I like how you presented the theme and sense of danger through the art and sound.

Nice puzzle game! It's very funny to see the people launched to the sky.It could be more interesting if there are some items for the truck to pick up, such as boost and diving tools.

I had 3 people in a row die while I was on the tile right next to and moving towards them, that was a bit frustrating(but also my own fault). One issue I had was that the game board and the minimap are at slightly different angles, it made navigating by the map somewhat difficult for me. Also: driving "south" is a bit annoying because of the fixed angle. Camera controls with a rotating minimap could help.

The game looks really cool and is pretty fun. In its current state the game should be deterministic, I wonder if you can save all the people? Some randomization or procedural generation would be nice, and maybe some pickups that give you a temporary speed boost or something.

great work, most has already been said, but I would like to underline the failings of the sound design. please never have extremely low or high pitched noisy generated sounds on loop, especially alone at any normal volume. it can get quite painful to listen to for headphone users.
