LD38 — A Small World

Enlarge your planet ! by LeReveur 2017-05-01T06:37:07Z

I do like the idea, though it is not that clear exactly how much of a change each of the features (pumps, filters, etc) make. A bit more UI detail may have helped with that. Got a score of 454623 anyhow, no idea if that's good or bad.

World of Platformer by Knowledge 2017-05-01T06:47:17Z

Not entirely sure what point the commentary was trying to make as it didn't really seem to go anywhere in the end...? Unless the point was that platformers work for JAM games because you don't have a lot of time? Mmmmaybe. XD

World Destroyer by Move127 2017-05-01T06:13:32Z

Hey this was pretty fun. I like how the shots orbit around indefinitely, there were some bugs as other people already mentioned, but it's easy enough to just kill yourself when stuck so no issue. I personally avoided making a physics engine like this, but you've done a pretty good job getting it to work fairly well!

That said, don't even think about sending Winston to our small planet. He's not welcome.

SittingDucks by Iak 2017-04-23T20:38:25Z

@rik-thunder Thank you for your comment, partner! ;)

Now if I could publish the game, that'd be great. Would like to sleep soon.

-And now that's taken care off, too. Off to bed!

SittingDucks by Iak 2017-05-01T07:11:27Z

@vkmicro well most of our games have secret stuff almost nobody will ever see and I doubt we will change that in the future. I have added a link above with hints so people who want to find the secrets, but don't want to search for them at least have the option to check what to do.

As for motion sickness, we mostly made it like this so the controls wouldn't be weird when standing on the lower half of the planet (y'know, left/right reversal). No idea how to tell what gives people motionsickness other than having lots of people playtest it. XD

SittingDucks by Iak 2017-07-19T12:26:10Z

@pschichtel It's awfully late now (almost LD 39!) But I have added an experimental Ubuntu release. It appears to still have some bugs the windows version doesn't have, but I'm working on figuring out compatibility for future Jams.

Daydreaming Island by camilo 2017-05-01T06:52:06Z

Really interesting atmosphere. The music and visuals and time counter all seem to serve their purpose well.

The Left-Right number selection puzzles were a bit unintuitive, partly because the text made no indication of what happened (it just restarts when approaching again) and partly because the controls are, as mentioned by others before, not very responsive.

Ecowsystem by concalf 2017-05-01T06:40:07Z

cow pollution and sharknados are a fearsome combination indeed. I find myself wanting to protect the birds so they can save the planet from incoming meteors, which does decrease the number of surviving cows quite a bit.

Fun idea with a good feel to it, though I think it might have more potential as a puzzle design with different levels where you have to get X amount of cows or something under specific conditions to proceed, as I reckon the number of plants spawning will probably put a hard limit at how many cows you can possibly get for the arcady highscore? Mmmaybe.

A Perfectly Lovely Expedition by cerno-b 2017-05-01T06:17:48Z

It's lovely.

The different mechanics are very interesting, I might actually have a look at your source later to see how you implemented that digging mechanic. XD

The graphics aren't overly complicated, but suitable and the moving "night zone" was a pretty neat idea, too.

There could have been a bit more stuff to do (maybe something optional, rather than the fairly linear 'tasks' needed to perform to get the spaceship running), but overall it was interesting to explore this small planet and figure out what to do.

Gridfold by alfadur 2017-05-01T06:24:34Z

Nice puzzle mechanics. Took me a moment to realise that falling into nothingness would make me reappear elsewhere, which is a great mechanic to give more depth to an otherwise simple small map though.

Doesn't seem too specific for the theme? Oh well~

Awakening Soul by faceless71 2017-05-01T06:42:46Z

Got to the altar and nothing happens. Did you run out of time there or am I missing something? There's this huge guy standing there doing nothing at all...?

I love the visuals anyway. The gameplay could've been more complex (the stun made it so you can pretty much just keep walking while mashing attack), as you already had the shield and shield attack in place.

SLINGSHOOT by chaoclypse 2017-05-01T06:28:33Z

Fun to play, solid use of the gravity field and a pretty appealing look. The large score gives it a good arcady feel. No idea if the unity WebGL setup with itch.io would support that, but leaderboards might be a fun addition to have.

Gravity Does Not Work That Way by karln 2017-05-01T06:35:08Z

The changing radius you get from moving back and forth is really fun to play around with, though it does make the game kinda too easy as most things just die offscreen. Something to force you to keep the mini-planet close at times may help to fix that? (dunno, maybe making enemies appear from the ground only after getting close to them or somesuch).

Hot Day by oab 2017-05-01T06:46:21Z

Simple but somehow amazing. Must save more smiley stuff from burning down!

That is a lot of fire though. Just how hot is this sun.

Journeys of the Blowfish by clutterArranger 2017-05-01T06:49:49Z

The idea is interesting, but maybe the change in how strong gravity gets close to the thingy is a bit too strong? In some places you can fly for ages while in others you're nearly stuck to the ground it seems.

Anyhow I like that you put up challenge scores of how few moves people can try to beat it in. Gives some more depth to have these.

Planetary Assault Self Defense! by alpenter 2017-05-01T06:15:37Z

Huh. Space guns... I need to contact that merchant sometime... those bombs are pretty OP.

Anyhow. The gameplay is fun and I actually played for quite a while trying out different combinations of guns. The GameBoy glow effect is pretty random. Your graphics and music are a pretty good combination and overall the game feels very polished.

Impressive entry overall. I just wish I could destroy weapons again to replace them with others once I have the money as lasers seem like they'd be better in late-game than early. ;)

Evacuator! by Robber 2017-05-01T06:58:30Z

Interesting gameplay, but with the people not even trying to move toward the one vehicle that can save them, maybe it'd be better to let natural selection do it's work?

Regardless, I like how you made the map heights so that the shortest path is not necessarily the optimal path.

Recursive nightmare by Toulou 2017-05-01T06:45:32Z

This is so trippy. I am genuinely impressed by how weird you made something so simple. This is art.

Conquer Earth by Lars DK 2017-05-01T06:11:08Z

Very fun entry. Played a few rounds with Stok until I won. (mind I played the original Jam version for fair judging. Will try to come around to play the post version later though to see what you've been changing!

Your gameplay is really quite fun and I could see this working out well in multiplayer, too. (not sure if you wanna go that far in your post-jam version, but if you make any major changes like that do keep me up to date!)

The graphics are simple, but I actually like that style. The music is a pretty great fit for the environment, too.

Holy Shit! A Spider !!! by Aurelien 2017-05-01T10:54:57Z

Decent graphics, fun gameplay, silly voice commentary. Jup, I like. Only my new spiders after hitting space would always get squished before I could move them oO think I wasn't very lucky there...

TurtleRider by KinraX88 2017-05-01T06:57:28Z

I like that the graphics and music make for a rather happy atmosphere, you could have done with a bit more gameplay, however. After building 2 markets right next to the head it seems like I can keep going indefinitely without anything really changing from what I can tell.

Cookie-World by Loktor 2017-05-01T10:38:21Z

Protecting the cookie-planet would be more effective if the icing paste could lay eggs. That's how it works, right?

Nice idea, though it doesn't really seem to get any more difficult? Maybe a bit too easy to survive indefinitely.

So now that my cookie covers most of the screen... when do I get to eat it?

Heart guard by ryjcio 2017-05-01T06:38:20Z

The controls are nice and the gameplay feels pretty smooth, but I never really felt any need to leave the floor. Jumping up just seemed to put me at a disadvantage in getting a lot of hits in quickly.

Oh and the score doesn't seem to reset after dying, allowing you to infinitely raise the score!

Colorfly by Zelos 2017-05-01T06:41:25Z

It's really quite pretty. But is it intended that the wing in the back is the wrong way around? That kinda looks like it would hurt.

The gameplay is simple but the atmosphere keeps the exploration interesting for the time it lasts. Could have had some more elements to add difficulty maybe, as it seemed a bit too straightforward, but I suppose it's not necessary.

Oh another question. Was it intended that you only have to finish one 'tree' on the maps where there are several? I finished all of them anyways, but it didn't seem to change anything.

Small Kingdoms by anarbitrarymustache 2017-05-01T06:55:52Z

Simple but fun gameplay. While that is outside the scope for a COMPO entry I suppose, I do think this could well be adapted for more than 2 players (on a suitably larger map, of course) and maybe with special fields to add more depth to the gameplay.

Was fun to play anyhow. (If you do add more muchness in a post-compo version, do contact me~)

Trindle Tabletop Experiment by vkmicro 2017-04-24T20:42:46Z

pretty decent first entry I reckon. I like the scissors. The last level hated me for a moment. ;)

Tiny Planet by Matt Fabius 2017-05-01T06:53:05Z

Looks like an interesting puzzle concept. The selecting of several units does seem unusual for the type of game and might have some more potential to use.

I did encounter a bug where some java code or so crashed when trying to move a player that wasn't able to get to the desired location with a wall in between.

The point one percent by Koomplr 2017-05-01T06:22:32Z

That ending was not what I was expecting alright. Cool level design and overall a very polished feel.

One issue I did have though was that sometimes the mouse would seem to disappear making it hard to aim. Not sure what caused that, but it wasn't a game-breaking bug either.

Landshift by undefinist 2017-05-01T06:20:51Z

Nice little puzzle. I agree with the previous commenters that it starts out a bit difficult, maybe having different board sizes could fix that as it's easier not to get stuck when you have more tiles available? Just an idea, not sure it's a good one. XD

Micro Grotto by xnblank 2017-05-01T06:27:28Z

Needs more huge shrooms.

Not entirely sure what the story was about. Who are we. Why are we searching for fungi. Why is our animation so derpy and cute. No idea.

What I do know however is that the gameplay is fun and smooth, the atmosphere is nice and it's a pretty solid LD Entry overall. How this relates to the theme could have been more clear though, as I don't think I really understand that bit =P

Small World by JimmyBG 2017-05-01T06:08:15Z

The isometric view took some getting used to for me, but was really nice to look at and gives the game a nice feel. I liked the mechanics (hooking the blocks around for puzzle solving was a neat move) though there were some bugs where the player could get stuck inside a block (or blocks inside each other), but those are to be expected in a Jam entry.

Having no Controller available I did find the keyboard layout a bit unintuitive, maybe next time include keyboard options in your .ini file if you have the time so people can set their own preference. Not a very high priority as it can be played fine without, but just a thing to consider.

Food Force by Kinjin 2017-05-01T06:59:18Z

This would have been so much better by just having a score or Something to measure how well you're doing. Now everything you do feels kinda pointless. XD The animations are fun, the take on the theme is interesting, the control could have been smoother. ;)

LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

O! Cook! by Rik_Thunder 2017-12-04T10:43:23Z

Jack is back! I approve. Decent tower-defense+cookieclicker mix. XD

I find occasionally clicking doesn't do what I want and I'm not quite sure why, but it isn't exactly game-breaking.

Mushroom Délicieux by TRASEVOL_DOG 2017-12-10T12:03:33Z

A tad hard to tell what's going on at first, but the graphics are awesome and the game is actually really fun. Adding mechanics a bit more slowly and clearly at first might help?

The Will of the Wisps by adsilcott 2017-12-11T18:37:55Z

Whee. Not bad at all. Best entry in the mood category for me so far.

LD40 Compo: The Greed Run by vkmicro 2017-12-04T10:37:48Z

Huh. good going on the theme there. The floor grabbing you wasn't actually intended though, was it. =P

Bunnyfication by dekart 2017-12-10T20:00:05Z

Hmm... I do think a slower introduction might've made the text-y explanation obsolete. Overall good going though. Good graphics, fitting soundtrack and bunnies. Lots of bunnies for me to click.

Free to Play by Hooraygil 2017-12-11T18:51:32Z

Really annoying in all the right ways. Almost like you made it annoying on purpose. =P

Don't get drunk by tulipekoni 2017-12-11T18:27:17Z

Decent game, simple and to the point, which is a good thing for that kinda game. Drunkness could increase a bit more slowly maybe, since it gets to the point of hardly seeing anything anymore a tad quickly, but that's just a minor nitpick.

LD42 — Running out of space

Debris Trail by chromableedstudios 2020-05-07T09:25:59Z

How did you make the gravity do whatever it's doing here?!

IMO this is actually a really interesting entry, it feels glitchy and looks bizarre, but somehow that makes for a pretty unique *thing*. I've actually been thinking about making something with a similar feel to this for a while already, so your game gave me some extra ideas there.

I can't actually rate your game (did you disable ratings?).

Slightly 2 Overbuilt by JammedGame 2020-05-10T08:17:37Z

Cool game, makes me wanna go figure out the optimal way to fit in all the buildings.

I can't seem to vote though. It just shows me N/A instead of letting me click?

LD45 — Start with nothing

The drop to the top by jk5000 2019-10-08T18:32:20Z

I lost against myself! I wanted the left side to win, gaaaah. XD Cool game anyhow. It's a simple but effective idea I can see be plenty of fun with 2 players. Maybe I'll play it again sometime with my sister...

Ping Pong by Iak 2019-10-10T20:33:08Z

@druvsaft is that a thing? darn I thought I had enough deltatime everywhere to disregard framerate for the most part... bit hard to test that on my machine, but I'll try to find a fix on the weekend...

Ping Pong by Iak 2019-10-11T08:09:38Z

@druvsaft I added a bugfix release to my download page, from what I could test the physics should be more stable on lower framrates now, though the graphics got a bit more jittery in return which I'll have to see about when I have time. Anyhow, I do think it should be possible for you to get to the end now.

Ping Pong by Iak 2019-10-12T06:38:10Z

@shieldgenerator7 I may have completely forgotten about itchio here. I added an itchio page now, albeit I still need to prettify it a bit later!

Area 45 by conk 2019-10-08T17:48:01Z

I feel like I've seen that hair somewhere before... must be my imagination. A lot of tooting has happened.

Save the Huskies! by Rik_Thunder 2019-10-08T14:09:34Z

Hurr. Never underestimate the power of stacked huskies.

Spartan From Scratch by designernap 2019-10-09T14:19:59Z

This is legit. Agree with what's been said before, I like the graphics, music, funny sound effects. If you're making a more "finished" version, message me somewhere. I'd like to check out how you'd continue this when adding more content and actual enemies.

Amnesiac Adventurer by justinooncx 2019-10-08T18:49:52Z

Hmm... something feels backwards but I can't quite put my finger on it. Going through the dungeon with perfectly normal movement, killing zombies in perfectly normal ways, looting chests and pushing buttons... yes... all quite usual. Not sure why I feel like something is wrong...

Rubber Duck Genesis by Rayne 2019-10-10T12:01:42Z

Hurr. I couldn't possibly pass up on a game named "rubber duck genesis".

Will you turn this into a full puzzle game? Because that could be cool. You certainly put together some cool pieces in this concept, though we didn't really get to use them for anything yet. Needs more ducks.

GRIMOIRE by Eryph 2019-10-11T13:26:13Z

This is fun. Though I couldn't find any secret spells. hmmmmm. I mean. there probably aren't any. But what if there are...

Tale of the Toad King by Beebo Studios 2019-10-08T17:34:57Z

This is my favorite snake game yet, and it doesn't even feature snakes. Very cool.

Lonely Planet by shieldgenerator7 2019-10-11T16:30:07Z

Consider yourself reminded to play my game ;)

Meanwhile I played yours! which is fun, seems like it can take a lot of practice to get higher and higher scores in this one, potentially. Solid graphics, too

Lonely Planet by shieldgenerator7 2019-10-12T15:05:21Z

@shieldgenerator7 Guess around 45k ;)

JUST A GHOST LOOKING FOR ITS BODY by smileyface 2019-10-11T12:38:38Z

hmm. that's pretty cool. a protagonist you can never quite see clearly. Not sure about the time limit, that seemed a bit unnecessary, but generally I think this is a really interesting entry. knocking over chairs to try and figure out where you're going.

Welcome Home by KP_CFTSZ 2019-10-10T15:57:14Z

neat take on the theme, very nice style, and just a cool idea to have people do a couple of small doodles and put them together into an image.

King of Nothing by notapixelstudio 2019-10-11T12:18:14Z

cool use of the chess rule set. Very easy to tell what to do, as many people already know the rules to chess, and the metronome is obvious enough for anyone who has played rhythm games as well. The generated positions are a nice challenge, though I could easily see this concept extended with custom-designed positions, or blockades / room layouts. One Issue I had was that the audio cue didn't seem to quite align with the moment I actually had to click for me. From what I gather from other rhythm games though, that is often caused by differences in hardware. (crypt of the necrodancer here has a huge tolerance window to make up for this, osu! instead lets the user customise the timing to make it match). It wasn't so big an issue to make it unplayable, just a bit unintuitive, so something that could be optimised.

A button by Hedgy 2019-10-09T15:27:00Z

@bip neat, after 10 or 11 auto-clickers, you can get the clickers for free! hurr.

Broken Broom Adventure! by RubixNoob13 2019-10-10T16:14:53Z

Wooh I made it to the untextured end-room-thing! XD Y'know. Though with the missing enemies and end and potentially other stuff a lot is unfinished, I really like your style. The background and blocks all have very nice colors that go well together. I could see the broken broom mechanic be extended too in the future. The procedural generation is cool, too. I'll have to take a look at spelunky myself now that you mentioned learning from it. So yeah. Though a lot is unfinished right now, I would like to see more of this in the future. If you continue, contact me somewhere.

The Scout by Griz 2019-10-08T18:03:33Z

Cool style, the unfinished features were perhaps a bit too much for 48 hours, but I can certainly see where you could go in expanding this. Reminds me of "Don't starve" a bunch with the 2.5D survival.

Looks really interesting anyhow. Would be cool to see where you'd take this with more time.

Bricklayer! by triplefox 2019-10-09T18:28:50Z

Neat take on a breakout game. And I certainly do find the self-written engine rather interesting. It does indeed get a bit repetitive, but I think you could combat that if you come up with another twist for later levels.

Zero Equals Zero by TopperVideoGames 2019-10-08T18:54:40Z

Hmm I can't seem to get the web version to run... could you upload a local version (windows) ?

Zero Equals Zero by TopperVideoGames 2019-10-09T14:41:52Z

You know. I'll keep this idea of yours here tabbed in my mind. I'm generally interested in ways to make learning more fun, and this is a pretty good inspiration there, because I sure as heck enjoyed it. If you polish the mechanics a bit and add more levels this could turn out really cool. And educational. ;)

Genesis 1 (God Simulator Procedually Generated) by Ausstein 2019-10-10T12:49:42Z

Have you considered posting this game on a meme site?

0-Skies : A Minute's Adventure by Karanveer 2019-10-10T13:02:10Z

Cool concept, really good job for a first entry. There was some glitchy behaviour still you could polish out (I fell through the map once when going up a slope for example), but that's to be expected. Grats on your first LD game anyhow.

BadMouThing by Anton Novikov 2019-10-10T15:33:35Z

What in the realm of rubber ducks is that creepy floating tongue at the end. Cool game anyhow. much run.

Knights vs Hobos by Kenarf 2019-10-08T19:17:08Z

How do I survive past 3 hobos... They keep killing me XDD cool idea, but if I'm not getting something wrong, perhaps some way to make it more balanced (reducing the luck factor a bit, especially when the player doesn't have much equipment yet) could help if you're gonna flesh this out with more stuff in the future.

What the Hell! by Mikado 2019-10-08T19:31:37Z

hmm. few bugs, sometimes enemies would just not drop any keys before a door (RNG I reckon? should have at least 1 guaranteed drop). And sometimes it seemed like my shots wouldn't come out, like my own hitbox was blocking the gun or something so I had to move away to be able to kill stuff. Solid enough concept though, and a decent first entry.

Blank by MoebiusMeow 2019-10-09T16:09:10Z

0/10, made me forget I had a Pizza in the oven.

Love the style though. And story. And music. Good match.

The Three Sisters by dollarone 2020-05-10T09:22:03Z

Hey, thanks for posting the game to my stream!

Interesting story, a really nice drawn map, and simple but effective controls for an interactive novel. Good job!

Più, a bird song by Ekilibr 2020-05-07T10:39:06Z

Hey, thanks for posting the game for my stream!

This game is really pretty, have great audio, and just feels really polished overall. It's fun to play as well, in a soothing kinda way, at least once I figured out what to do.

On the stream I didn't get around to finishing it, so I revisited it later and made a video of that ;)

https://youtu.be/0kBP5SO1-2o

Welcome Home by Iak 2020-04-24T21:24:57Z

Thanks all who gave feedback so far!

@Pilarus I was kinda busy and didn't get around to adding a proper cover page (or playing any games) yet, but will try to do that as soon as I get around to it. Thanks for the reminder anyhow!

@blackmoodgames you were probably in level 4 (all the holes in the ground?) which is pretty difficult indeed. I would've liked to reload the current map only instead of the entire game, but was short on time at the end ;)

@wrimo agreed the movement could do with more polish and that bug is quite annoying. (Happened to a few people by now.) Sometimes the zombies hitboxes overlap when they shouldn't, making the physics engine freak out.

Secret Protection by dcrdro 2020-05-07T09:02:21Z

Unfair m8. What's a secret person supposed to do against an endless stream of heavily armed dudes?

Cool concept, I like the shield mechanic. Perhaps slowing down the projectiles a bit (and the shield scrolling speed) would help with balancing it a bit?

Anyhow since you mentioned a "next version" of the game telling more about what's going on, you should message me (on one of my games or so, I don't think PMs are a thing?) whenever that's a thing. I'd check it out ;)

Station Keeping by invader 2020-05-10T09:12:20Z

Hey, thanks for posting the game for my stream!

This is certainly up there as one of the more complex entries. Despite the tutorial it took me a bit to really figure out what I was doing, and even then it's far from mastery. (not to mention not having anyone around to try multiplayer with~)

That said, I think in a game with a trading focus, complexity can absolutely be a good thing. Having to keep track of demand fluctuations, how many resources you still have, etc makes for a really interesting system I would definitely like to see more of in the future. If you're releasing a further polished version (or expanding into a commercial release) eventually, message me so I can check it out!

For Ducks' Sake by GaryS 2020-05-10T09:53:37Z

Hey, thanks for posting the game to my stream!

Nice retro game feel with 8-directional controls, kinda chiptune style music, and funky pixel art. What in the world makes those gnomes so very happy when stealing a duckling though, that smile. That. Smile.

Living Woods by Tunahead 2020-05-10T09:16:35Z

Hey, thanks for posting the game for my stream!

So I really like the fast pace and pretty smooth controls on this one. Dealing way more damage by shooting through the fire also gives a nice balance to things where the fire really is an integral part of the gameplay. Your graphics are simple but functional (kinda similar to my own I think..)

If you want to polish this up a bit further, I'd love to see more of a gradual increase in difficulty, and adjusted enemy spawning (no unfair spawns where things spawn right next to you and shoot you instantly). Oh and a highscore counter! =P

Living Woods by Tunahead 2020-05-11T21:00:12Z

@tunahead the stream is still recorded on twitch for a few days, so you should find it on [my channel](https://www.twitch.tv/iaknihs)

On mobile atm so can't get the full link quick, so if any issues I'll check tmmr!

Heartbreaking by mAnimal 2020-04-28T12:44:40Z

Very cool game. I enjoyed the difficulty personally. Just the right amount of heart-breaking. (don't take advice on difficulty from me though. You probably wanna make it easier when targeting a wide audience...)

Bonus points for making it possible to die on the win-screen. =P

Anyhow the gameplay is a really neat idea. As some people already mentioned it'd be great to also see some additional use for the heart, so it's not *just* a thing to get you killed. But jam-deadlines and all considered the given amount of mechanics is complex enough. Pretty sure there's a lot you could still explore without changing the mechanics much.

Oh. And please don't use 'space' for a non-jump mechanic in a game that has jumping. XD This killed me a good few times just because 'space' is usually the jump-key. Bind it to anything else. W, +, F11, just not space. =P

Me: Tree! by Groggi 2020-05-10T09:57:37Z

Hey, thanks for posting the game for my stream.

I left it running a bit to gain resources while trying another game in true idle-game fashion =P Nice to try and build a functional tree and try to make it look decent, too (or build a crazy tentacle-mess?).

The newer version cranks up complexity a bit, so it may need a bit more introduction (the original version was fairly intuitive I think, but of course only gets so far without new mechanics)

The Great Return by Attala 2020-05-07T09:29:41Z

Hey, thanks for tuning in to my stream!

Very cool frogger-like game. The gameplay is smooth and we have a solid answer for "why did the chicken cross the road" — I would too if there were an angry farmer running after me. Cool game!

FLOWER by ShivArt 2020-05-07T08:54:47Z

Hey, thanks for posting the game for my stream!

This game is just really pretty, excellent atmosphere. The scenery makes me want to know more about the world it's set in. Great ending too. Overall a really cool entry.

I can't really judge it based on gameplay, since that's very minimal.

Brainstorm by Shakedimus 2020-05-07T08:41:41Z

Hey, thanks for posting the game to my stream!

I like the grappling-hook mechanic and the word-matching. Like I mentioned on-stream I'm a bit slow at figuring out what words actually have any sort of relation, so some mechanic to let me gain more time would be cool!

Overall cool entry, if you polish it up a bit with audio and improved visuals it could make for a nice web-game or something. Nice thing to just play during a quick break or so to see if you can improve your highscore (if you do that, add highscore tracking, too?)

Faire L'Amour aux Plantes by Jenny Bourke 2020-05-07T08:45:05Z

Yo! Thanks for linking your game for my stream!

So this was... different :D Definitely one of the weirder Jam games I've seen. Nice, mildly creepy art. Gameplay was simple but fitting to the theme, I guess.

Cats In Flats by Black Flag 2020-05-07T09:41:41Z

Hey, thanks for posting the game to my stream!

There's a lot going on so I didn't have time to explore everything fully there, but it's pretty neat. The cats are evil and must be stopped before they bring about the end of the universe! Except that's not the plot at all, but... close enough.

Apocalypse Baby by STREETGEEK 2020-05-10T08:24:24Z

Not sure what feedback to give when the zip file already made it clear that this is the de facto Best Game Ever.

Anyhow, the exploding baby is really metal.

I had some glitchy behavior when shooting stuff directly in the face sometimes seemed to do nothing, so not entirely sure what happened there, but cool entry anyhow.

Edit: I think the glitchy behavior may also have been from clicking stuff on my other screen. My mouse didn't get captured despite the game launching in fullscreen..

The Night Of The BEAST by Fer9001 2020-05-07T11:07:02Z

Hey, thanks for tuning into my stream and linking your game!

Very cool retro style and nice simple stealth gameplay. Good job!

I didn't quite get to see the ending there, so I replayed the game later and made a video.

The Holy Sword by PastelGames 2020-05-07T09:17:16Z

I like how you took a fighting game, shoved the theme in, and it somehow actually worked.

The game has solid graphics and music making for a good style. Like others mentioned before it's a bit too easy to get a stalemate, so some additional mechanic to break that up would be cool.

Keep Floating by JoaoG 2020-05-10T10:00:17Z

Hey, thanks for posting the game to my stream!

Nice little IT-themed endless runner. The mechanic is simple, which is pretty effective for this sorta games though. Good job, was fun!

The King's Gun Guy by Leonardo Fraga 2020-05-10T08:49:16Z

Hey, thanks for posting the game for my stream!

I played both your base version and the Post-Jam one, I quite liked the rough drawn style of the original, but the Post version does have a much more polished feel to everything and seems a lot more complete, so excellent job with that.

Revenge of the Woods by Robonaut121 2020-05-07T08:30:51Z

Hey, thanks for posting the game for my stream!

Cool little intro story, and I love the big-pixel style. Only issue I had with the game was I couldn't tell if I was actually making progress, so I wasn't sure how far I was meant to keep going. (does the game end?) I tried ignoring the trees and getting to the end of the map to scout a bit, but eventually too many enemies spawned to jump past~

The Last Guardian by civmaniac 2020-05-10T08:54:56Z

Hey, thanks for posting the game for my stream!

I like the layered art style, and your mechanics are fun, too. I always find it a bit difficult to remember all the things I can do in Jam games (since I don't play them very long and move from one game to the next it often gets confusing~) so I didn't do very well here at first, but now that I know how to build my Cactus army, it works a lot better!

This Fire Burns by Thrawn911 2020-05-07T08:27:26Z

Hey, thanks for posting the game for my stream!

I like the atmosphere, the game gets a nice creepy vibe across. Actually finding the branches is really hard however, maybe a bit more different terrain would help so I can actually tell where I've already been!

Does the map loop in this one or is it actually that enormous?

Earth 2.0 by AryanJumani 2020-05-10T09:23:49Z

Hey, thanks for posting the game for my stream!

Played the original and Post version. In both managed to save 100 out of 300 people... that's enough right? We don't need ~that~ many humans on mars I'm sure... XD

Cool retro vibe.

Feed The Fire by Nuanda79 2020-05-10T09:48:33Z

Hey, thanks for posting the game to my stream!

A nice solid searching mechanic. Cool graphics when they are actually visible, and random aliens which apparently don't burn very well. Good job overall.

Keep It Charged by LaZZyDev72 2020-05-10T08:36:59Z

Hey, thanks for posting the game for my stream!

You made a fun solid puzzle game with a very polished feel to it, so very good job there!

One issue I do have though is that you used at least some pre-made assets (memes at least, others I don't know). Please take a look at the [Rules](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/rules) for LD, specifically the Compo does not allow any pre-existing assets to be used — the Jam does, but only if you opt-out of those categories.

Catch The Mouse keep it alive by GameOverMexico 2020-05-07T08:24:00Z

Hey man. Thanks for posting the game for my stream! I like it for sure, though the map sometimes trolls me indeed ;)

I just uploaded a quick-video actually beating it, since I didn't get to that on-stream!

Roadkill by JeanBis 2020-05-07T10:43:59Z

Hey, thanks for posting this game for my stream!

The driving and drifting was really fun. The music is great. All in all just a really cool entry. With more levels, objectives, and a bit more polish, I could see this as a fun steam game or so.

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Kiwi Intergalactic War Initiative by Iak 2020-10-05T21:51:30Z

@lamasaurus I added a description to this page for roughly what to do!

Loopomotive by Tamas Turi 2020-10-06T08:04:10Z

This is similar to an idea I had but didn't end up making =o Nice game, looks good, plays well. My train eventually lost all its carts... no clue if that was intended or a bug, but it's a thing. XD Excellent fit for the theme, of course.

Defuse in under 5 by Darylsteak 2020-10-06T07:51:05Z

Very cool. Fun to play, simple but smooth graphics, and just a solid concept. I did encounter a bug where the bomb kept exploding endlessly after I already defused it, probably some timing-issue? Just reloaded the page though and good is~

Stuck in the system by FayLee 2020-10-24T13:31:42Z

Hmm... tried the web build and it seems bugged. The driver totally ignores rotation and just keeps going straight half the time, no matter where the road is facing or if there even is a road at all. (driving off-screen, too)...

Looped by Leo Red 2020-10-06T07:35:41Z

I like the concept, dodging and shooting with ever-less space to dodge in. The game could perhaps use a bit more polish for balancing and to make it *feel* better. In that sense, the circles hitbox (playing web version) is much larger than the actual circle, so it's impossible to tell how close enemies are actually allowed to get. Enemies could have a bit of a destroy-animation to give shooting them more impact? something like that.

Also question, you mentioned above you used KENNY ASSETS for your graphics? I don't really see anything in your game that would have benefitted much from even using an asset pack (mostly very simple shapes?), but using one technically does disqualify you from the **graphics** category, so if you did use pre-made art without significant editing, you should opt-out of that category.

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Dig Deeper & Digger by gonutz 2021-04-29T06:46:18Z

Solid visuals and solid simple arcade gameplay. With some polish and perhaps separate levels I could see this as a mobile game perhaps?

The music didn't loop properly, I may be wrong but it sounded like you used an mp3 file or something (mp3 usually won't loop cleanly, as opposed to wav or ogg). Also it'd be nice to see your current score during gameplay. Doesn't really affect anything, but just feels better imo.

Inks by mahalis 2021-05-04T19:43:13Z

Such pretty o.o I like it. I want more Ink-blob games.

Dice Explorer by Solah 2021-05-04T19:35:37Z

I really like this idea. It does need more reasons to not take the most straight past possible. Maybe collecting treasure, health-potions, and what-not. But the foundations are there and they are really cool. Gives me lots of ideas for how randomization can be combined with player choice...

The deepest heist by Adrien Dittrick 2021-04-26T12:18:36Z

great prequel. So this is how we became able to steal things shapes...

Undermined by Alex Davies 2021-05-04T20:19:12Z

Damn this feels way too solid for a COMPO entry. Sure the core concept is simple enough, but given I never really have a clear idea of where I'm going... making something this 'complete' for a COMPO seems crazy. XD good job, me like.

Deeper & Deeper Winery by ciaccodavide 2021-04-27T08:10:31Z

Nice, simple and with pretty good sound. This could be a minigame in an RPG...

You Know The Drill by Maksime 2021-04-27T09:48:13Z

An ordinary man would've been content finding the heart of a planet and living a good life... I had the same plans, once. But when I held that heart in my hands, a new vision formed inside my head. A much, much larger vision. I used the funds I got selling the heart to get the best equipment out there. I continued. I gathered dozens of hearts. Quickly gaining in wealth, I used the funds to create a business. First just a few, but soon hundreds of miners at my command, mining the hearts of any planet we came across. These mining operations were illegal, at first. But no more. With a monopoly on planet hearts, and protection money coming in from any inhabited planets wishing to keep their planet intact, there is no one left in this Galaxy who could stand against me.

Shooting Digger by COKE 2021-05-07T07:01:07Z

This is actually pretty fun. I think progression is very slow (it's hard to tell you're making progress at all), making it drag out quite a bit, but it's an easy to understand and effective shooter.

Perhaps displaying what is still needed to progress would help focus the player's attention a bit, too. "oh only X more enemies to the next level, alright".

Now you see me by Haiyoooo 2021-05-07T07:39:58Z

This is pretty impressive for a 5h entry. the art looks nice and creepy, love it. The light effect fits really nicely, too though I feel it's a bit too bright. (I'm not good with high contrast, I easily get headaches when something is too bright compared to its surroundings). Gameplay is simple but works great like this.

The Canary by Jorim 2021-04-27T09:15:01Z

Hmm... I like what I see so far, but mining doesn't seem to work for me. It plays an audio cue but nothing else happens?

Work In Progress by Aquarii 2021-05-07T07:21:17Z

that's a lot of levels and they take a while to load, are you generating the levels? Oo simple gameplay, the long-range mining is kinda funny. Invisible lasers coming out of my pickaxe I guess. I like the triangle-dude.

Don't Pull It Out by Shin0nome 2021-04-27T09:22:57Z

Attacking monsters with my blood... yeah that seems safe. No problem at all. Interesting mechanic, I like.

David The Diver by AutumnL1 2021-05-07T07:31:59Z

It looks really cool, but didn't run well for me. Movement was so slow I could barely tell I was moving (even with shift pressed), the web version was very laggy, so played locally instead. Btw, if you're already hosting the web version on itch.io, you don't have to clog up your dropbox, just upload the downloadable version on itch.io, too and it should show up as download link.

ASTEROID SHOWER by EV3R4 2021-04-27T08:15:39Z

I like the retro aesthetic. Simple and easy to understand gameplay, a bit hard to tell your distance from asteroids sometimes perhaps, but that was a common issue with many retro games.

LD52 — Harvest

Call of the Harvest by Iak 2023-01-13T21:13:46Z

@starboihooch there is a bit of invulnerability after death, but for some situations it may be too short. Will keep that in mind! And yeah I think the infinite lives (just a death-counter of sorts to show how much you died) helps alleviate my usual issues of making stuff way too difficult for a jam game

@kr4ft3r was rly fun thinking of little enemy-monologues XD

Thanks for the feedback everyone!

Call of the Harvest by Iak 2023-01-15T13:29:18Z

@dkaloger the bar over the death counter is related to graze score, common shmup feature where you get points for dodging very close to attacks. (almost touching) Haven't noticed any bugs with it yet, but if u can describe maybe I can figure out what's wrong

As for spawning, there should be a short (too short, by the looks) invulnerability period when you respawn, but I think on one of the fights there might be an issue where sometimes you can't see the player because the enemy sprite is above the spawn point temporarily

Nightmare Containment by frozenfire92 2023-01-23T14:36:46Z

That's a really well made map here. The lighting really gives the place that "half broken down" feel and while the simple "find a thing, pick it up, bring it back to start" could probably still be improved (like. once you see where a thing is, it's trivial to pick it up), you've achieved a lot here in the limited time of a jam!

I noticed a few areas where map layers were wrong (like you are on top of things you should be behind), but other than that all seems to have worked fine.

H.A.R.V.E.S.T. Harvest And Recon by kr4ft3r 2023-01-12T10:29:27Z

Good job finishing something despite being short on time!

Nice vibe with all the screaming while we're piloting this alien-looking vehicle to harvest human heads.. I had a dream similar to this game years ago  but that was less alien and more a halloweeny looking massive combine harvester modified for human harvesting...

Spaceman Spam's Delivery Service by sillyman987 2023-01-23T12:56:12Z

Spam's base is eternal now. There is no going home. There is only conquest.

Simple concept that works well. A few bugs (GUI behind turrets and negative rocks as others already mentioned), but besides that I embraced the grind and built a base out of turret-walls.

The Onion Quest by Dekajoo 2023-01-23T15:22:44Z

nooo it bugged in the bossfight and everything just stopped moving ;_;

anyhow this is really neat! nice cute graphics and a pretty solid combat system. Plus, always nice to see more Godot entries.

Garden of Eat'n by WobbleBlocks 2023-01-12T11:30:42Z

took me a minute to really figure it out (it tried to access my controller at first but didn't quite manage all buttons..) but once I got a hang of controls I find there's an impressive amount of stuff here for a jam game! Good job there, reminds me a bit of "overcooked" and works well enough already to give a good feel for where the game could go with more time (actually not sure how you did all this in just 3 days..). For further polish it'd be nice if the interact area actually aligned with where it shows interact buttons. Also it crashed after a while on itch.io, not sure if that's a game issue or an itch compatibility issue.

Space Harvest by ThunderChief 2023-01-23T13:19:12Z

This is a real solid area you designed here! Gameplay is simple and works well enough to be fun. Due to a lack of reading I didn't figure out how to drop items, but once I knew the point values of everything I got a win anyway but just grabbing the correct amounts.

Very nice space station anyhow. Great modelling and area design for such a short timeframe

Void Reader - A desktop multiplayer game. by DaivyIsHere 2023-01-15T11:47:08Z

This is some real impressive work for a 3 day jam o.o not done with it yet, but seems like a nice mix between idle game and exploration game. And who in the world has time to implement multiplayer on a jam game.

Ya'll should @ me if u make new versions like you mentioned before, I'm curious where you'll go with this.

Highway Harvester by deadjolly 2023-01-15T10:47:02Z

Yeah really nice design. sad you didn't have more time to work on fleshing out the gameplay, but that's classic GameJam struggles

Essence Regulation by Augmotic 2023-01-23T14:47:21Z

sheesh you implemented a lot of player features. Would've been interesting to see this kinda game made for the "extra" ruleset so you have time to actually work with all the features you have some more.

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Super Gun Baby Run by KunoNoOni 2018-04-26T19:31:01Z

I don't really see the new take on genres here, but it was a decent endlessrunner implementation none the less.

I agree with jharlers idea to increase the speed overtime or somesuch to make it harder to keep up. Enemies do seem to deal more damage later I think, but it's hard to say for sure.

Secret of the PeaDucks by Iak 2018-04-24T11:50:31Z

@SandBloom I made the red room significantly harder on purpose as opening the door works fine even with just the 7 easier items. But I suppose that could have been more obvious. XD

Secret of the PeaDucks by Iak 2018-04-26T19:08:50Z

@Anonymous Aye, I do agree having a few settings in general would've been nice. But I didn't get around to do that anymore.

Secret of the PeaDucks by Iak 2018-04-30T10:31:10Z

@yellowlime Thanks for the feedback, I will take a look at how I can get the camera working with controllers soon. _(From what I can tell assigning Buttons shouldn't be too difficult, but I haven't used Unity enough yet to really know the details)_ Definitely something I want to have from the start in future entries!

Plasimajita by steve 2018-04-25T18:59:50Z

Ohh this plays really well. Got a bit laggy by the time I filled up most of the map with mostly T and C and the occasional of the other 2 things where I'm not quite sure what they do, but put them anyway for good measure.

Fun stuff.

Lofoten by Jonathan Whiting 2018-04-26T19:44:42Z

A bit difficult to rate since I'm used to rate things with a bit more gameplay =P

This looks really cool though and is really rather unique. Haven't seen anything like it around here yet. Nice job.

Speeddating by PiotrMi 2018-04-24T10:51:58Z

This is so silly it's amazing. This should be the new standard for speeddating around the globe.

Gone Clicking by hiki911 2018-04-24T16:33:48Z

Whee the rhythm things became impossible to hit (several overlaying each other) after 6k gold or so was stored D= beat it anyways. Because I've been trained in the art of cookieclicker.

Those are some fancy graphics btw.

InvadTris by csanyk 2018-04-25T05:29:04Z

Hey, sucks you didn't get to finish before the deadline, but this is a really solid implementation of both games. It plays really well and a lot of issues I would have expected to see you already dealt with.

I didn't read your instructions here, so I was a bit confused when I saw the tetris blocks leaking into the invaders world at first, but that turned out really cool. Made me want to play higher up with more risk at the tetris side to try and attack invaders with blocks. XD

TDshooter by Genpaku 2018-04-24T10:31:15Z

a bit hard to evaluate on my own, but it does generally seem like a good idea.

The previously mentioned issue with the minigun, I do agree it needs to be changed a bit as depending on positioning it now either pretty much instant kills everything, or doesn't get a hit in at all.

Dungeon Scrawl by ildfuglen 2018-04-23T09:08:37Z

This is much more fun than I would've expected. Good job.

TSnake by Rudenko 2018-04-26T19:01:19Z

This sure adds a whole new dimension of difficulty to Snake. Not even that large of a change, but it works really well and is a great fit for the theme.

EMMA by SandBloom 2018-04-24T10:46:36Z

That is a really cool idea. the disappearing floor and narration completely change the feel compared to regular platforming.

Twine Walker by RockhopperGames 2018-04-24T15:31:10Z

This is weird. I like it. Full score for the Theme rating.

City Blocks by legavroche 2018-04-29T08:24:10Z

Very good go on the theme here. The ending caught me totally off-guard.

Found this game due to Indie Gaming's video, btw. So that's cool.

BEAT KILLER by Dragojt 2018-04-25T17:19:21Z

Really cool game. Attacking on the beat is a neat idea. It still feels a bit rough on the jumps and such, but nothing a bit of polish can't fix.

Watcher's Steps by snapman-gt 2018-04-24T10:18:18Z

oh boy, everything makes you fall. Can't decide if I love or hate this, but I think you can consider that a good thing.

Dungeon of High School romance by Toulou 2018-04-25T18:31:03Z

This was really great. Definitely one of my favourites this LD. Good job!

Interaural Differences by paulturowski 2018-04-26T19:06:53Z

I got to the second level but not past it... not entirely sure what to do. It seems interesting, but my projectiles seem to just disappear in midair without doing anything? =O

Gun Farmer by ludevum 2018-04-26T19:20:47Z

Cool idea on the shooter+farming mixup. seen a similar (albeit very unfinished) entry in 3D to this the other day.

Having the two mechanics play into each other was decent, though the intro could be a bit more optimised indeed (with all the different options for buttons, it actually gets harder to figure out what I'm supposed to press now)

Kinbaku by vkmicro 2018-04-23T05:37:19Z

Ohh that actually turned out pretty fun. The music is fitting, I really like the graphics and while slightly glitchy if you get hit in certain places, I don't think there's any gamebreaking issues either. Fun gameplay overall. (who put all those ropes there?!)

As for the theme, if I didn't know what your mixed genres were I don't know if I could've figured it out... XD I think they mix a little too easily. But well, this years theme does seem a bit difficult to meet.

PainBall by Erik Brunnstrom 2018-04-25T17:08:32Z

Hey, this is really cool. Good job.

danmaku economics by yellowlime 2018-04-26T18:53:24Z

Aye, can'T access your game either. Please do @ message me, too once it's up!

danmaku economics by yellowlime 2018-05-01T07:28:18Z

ah, thanks @vkmicro Works fine now.

This is actually a pretty cool combination. The patterns are a bit too predictable, so you either don't get hit at all, or pretty much have no place left to escape. But with a bit of polish that could certainly be fixed.

Definitely a good challenge having to manage your economy to increase the score quickly while trying to survive, anyhow..

Minigame Monsters by xmatos 2018-04-24T15:17:37Z

That is actually a really cool game idea. I do quite like having these different minigames for enemies and later having to figure out a good order to take them out safely.

The Freedom Bus Tycoon Empire by yatan 2018-04-24T14:19:54Z

It's a bit hard to tell what to do, it's a cool setup though. I can't really tell where building is or isn't possible right now, it seems a bit random when it works. Anything I missed?

Stirfry's Rhythm Rave by joltjab 2018-04-29T08:38:01Z

Hey, my friend showed me your stream where you played my PeaDucks game the other day, that was cool. Good job finding the hidden stuff while trying to break out of the map! (the pointless plain in the empty area you found originally contained another secret item, but since I didn't want to make people search for it all the way out there I removed it).

Now to your game. That jumping mechanic on rhythm really took some getting used to but was actually quite fun once I got the hang of it. I think this could be a really cool mechanic to expand upon later. As for actually getting the cluck... those sounds are a clear and functional indicator that the player should close the game now. XD

Tetris Breakout by Mr. Blue 2018-04-24T15:24:11Z

Aye, having a score would be neat, but it'S a pretty interesting mechanic idea overall.

btw, I think your restart button is broke. At least for me on windows restarting seems to freeze everything.

Hallway Rumble by Sholf 2018-04-29T08:46:24Z

Hey, solid gameplay and I love your graphics style. Very nice.

Btw. you should probably mention in the download links that you have a zip version and not just an installer on itch.io , I almost skipped this game, because there's just no way I'm gonna go through an installer for a jam game. (luckily I wasn't too lazy to check the itch.io page regardless, since this was very worth playing)

Typographythm by Radnyx 2018-04-29T07:43:01Z

This is really fun. Now go polish it and make more levels. Which is to say, more puns.

FPSville by Lyrcaxis 2018-04-25T10:10:59Z

Hey, a cool idea. Guess it was a bit too much for a single person during an LD, but I think if you fix it up a bit to get the other enemies working (I saw some unmoving ones?) and get a simple farming mechanic up, this might be really fun. Maybe decrease enemy spawn so the player can focus on farming on occasion without killing all spawnpoints first, too... something like that. I like it, overall.

The change to first person mode is pretty neat, I think I can use that to improve future stuff myself... xD

Not my ducks D=< -10000/5

Pretty decent game for the time constraint though. The shooting reminds me of those skiing events...

Numbness by Velocity7 2018-04-25T07:16:55Z

This is cool. I like it. Collision detection was a bit awkward at times and the > buttons are a bit too small, but the combination of 2D platforming with a shooter is really compelling. You could probably expand on this idea pretty well in the future, too.

Blitzingo by spthiel 2018-04-23T06:24:38Z

Neat, that's pretty fun. The speed really picks up on the higher difficulties.

Birdy by HagamosVideojuegos 2018-04-24T16:55:06Z

Pretty fun and a quite good fit for the theme. Also your protagonist is a bird. Which is of course always a good thing.

A Kid's Nightmare by N.O.X 2018-04-24T15:06:57Z

That is some really cool atmosphere.

Dennis by MCPlummet 2018-04-24T16:42:51Z

Being able to create rooms at the end was a cool idea. I would've liked to see a few more options to make rooms less similar, but there's only so much time in an LD so durr. XD

Yey for user-generated content!

Dance Dance Shoot 'Em Up by xandrew 2018-04-26T18:57:32Z

Ohh I like it. What's mentioned before about the positioning I agree with, but mixing a shmup with a rhythm game actually makes for a pretty cool combo. gg

King of Carcasone by EdgarLord 2020-05-10T08:19:33Z

Yeah next time please upload some instructions so people can take a look at what your board game works like... Still cool you finished something I guess, but we wanna see, too! =P

Corporate Espionage by Tomrel 2018-04-30T10:52:35Z

The Overall score was a bit hard to rate, since with all voting criteria beside the conceptual ones (fun, theme, innovation) being disabled I can't really tell what you actually did yourselves. Maybe add a bit more information on which things you did yourselves to help people rate based on those things.

Anyhow, this is really fun to play. I do agree with @DeltaNutmeg that you could give some hints to how long distances actually are (putting a simple ruler on the bottom might suffice) and with a bit of polish and some sounds you could probably make a solid Post LD game out of this. Like @vkmicro said, you can probably make something really cool if you work on this some more.

Two Incompatible Game by change 2018-04-26T19:40:34Z

awhut. that's some random challenges coming up quickly. Neat entry. I like it.

AsteroidCraft by schsam 2018-04-26T19:36:55Z

Who knew RTS mechanics would work out with an asteroid game, yet here we are. Good job at that. Really fun entry.

Fun gameplay with a simple but effective idea, albeit a bit too easy (does it get harder? didn't notice any change after a while so I stopped).

Adding a highscore would be nice, especially if it got harder.
