LD38 — A Small World

C_NFINEMENT R__M by Tselmek 2017-05-06T16:18:54Z

Played till the end! I still don't understand the mirror one (even with the hint). I think it's a pretty cool game, and I really liked the mood and the music. I disliked jumping on the exact same platforms every level just for the sake of needing to jump on them. Maybe the puzzles could be more dynamic? Idk. Either way, it was a good entry!

Also: those who got to the end screen, the first letter is B.

Space Travel 15 by jk5000 2017-04-29T05:29:08Z

Pretty good concept! Got till the last airport (the black one) before finally getting lazy. There also seems a bug where sometimes the number of people in the airport isn't the same as the people you can transport? For example airport had 2 oranges but in the selector there was only 1 orange you could transport. Really liked the game -- there is a really nice flow to the game once you understand it. And please pick a more readable font, that 'a' letter hurts my soul. Good job!

Uncharted Dreams - Fate of the Miniatures by Franklins Ghost 2017-05-10T07:11:45Z

Good entry! I really loved the animation, and the art style was pretty cool! I wished there was music (which would have added a lot to the mood of the game). I also wished that there was more interactivity rather than just pressing X. In fact, I would even say that a lot of the pressing X was for the sake of pressing X (why do i need to press X when i start walking on the rope, for example?) -- I felt like you added that just to fake choices. But again, you probably spent a lot of your time making those sweet animations, so props to that! (Maybe if you're focusing so much on one aspect it's a good idea to have a teammate next time -- just my two cents )

Pip Sweep by WeaverDeveloper 2017-05-01T09:43:04Z

Oh man, this was really great! I loved the feeling of just roaming and exploring the place -- the art and music fit so well and makes me so happy. The biggest nitpick I have is the controls, it didn't feel very intuitive. I *think* the biggest reason is the rotation via left/right, it messes you up quite a bit and a lot of times I found my mouse outside the viewport by accident. Maybe that's not the reason, but like... eh, I found a lot of times the direction/places I wanted the mouse to be at wasn't aligned to the input I'm giving it? Also about the moles... I'm not quite sure how to play them. I got them at the end by just patting (read: putting my hand for a while) the same mole 3 times

But yeah, overall I really loved it. Great job!!! :)

Lottery: you judge them I judge you by doppelgunner 2017-05-01T04:38:18Z

I really like the concept, and the final 2 choices hit me really hard. Really well done. Nitpicks: The sounds, imo, don't really fit that well. The sound when you click on the location also has a screech at the end that makes it uncomfortable to hear. The fading out when you kill the person also feels really slow. Otherwise, it's a pretty good job! Well done.

The Last Haven by Tommyno222 2017-05-01T10:09:10Z

Biggest standout to me was the graphics, it was pretty cool. Camera was way too harsh and I couldn't understand what was going on at all. (Combined with all the movements and jetpacking, I was blindly shooting most of the time). I think just centering it would be better. Also I think your audio only comes out from the right side...

Starstruck Ducky by HuvaaKoodia 2017-04-29T05:04:23Z

I *really* liked this! It was a very interesting concept. I also really love the humor (and the art is really funny). I do agree on the suggestion to finish the speech immediately on the first click (I'm an impulse clicker, and always set my dialog speed to fastest when playing games with dialog). I managed to beat the game only on my fourth attempt! Overall great job!

Toy Time Turbo by BadRAM 2017-04-30T15:36:48Z

This was pretty cool! The controls are **really** frustrating, because they feel so slippery. (Maybe just the keyboard version?)

It's a Small World, So Let's Crash It into Things by simonhutchinson 2017-04-30T14:30:19Z

This was really great! Sounds were super scary, the "found yaaa" scared me the first time haha. Nitpicks: The camera pisses me off. Also, I would think that the planets could move in... more than 4 directions. Finally, it feels too easy, because you can always move faster than the Dark Star, and that there's so much space to move around (thus you won't risk dying from running away)

Overall though, it was a really good, and the audio makes it really immersive. Great job!

SLINGSHOOT by chaoclypse 2017-05-01T09:12:38Z

This was really fun! I like the concept of using gravity to deflect enemy shots. I feel there should be more incentive to using that though, because I found it easier to play it like a bullet hell and avoid everything.

The Pendant World by Jerm 2017-05-10T07:27:52Z

As everyone else said, I don't really understand the story! Programmer art isn't so bad -- and even adding a bit of detail like shadow would have made the game more alive. My biggest complaint is I walk too much for no reason. Why do I have to walk like so many loops every time? Walking a single, long path is not exploring the world -- it is dull and boring. But other than that, good effort! :)

Smalltrek by impbox 2017-05-02T08:50:12Z

Oh my god this is sooo goooooood!!! As a big fan of puzzle games, I really love this! The music is good and the sfx work so well. The art is cute and consistent as well. One nitpick is the levels are a bit hard to enter -- once I replayed a level by accident because it was so close to the new level. I would say that most levels are designed really well, but some feel very brute-forcey. All in all, an excellent entry! One of the best. Great job!

Beer in Mind by pixelstuff 2017-04-28T11:24:32Z

The game looks absolutely beautiful! My biggest gripe with the game is how much I have to move my mouse just to finish the dialog (I feel like I should always be able to end the dialog just clicking on the same spot)

Noizy by yves 2017-05-01T13:27:02Z

Great concept! I like that the levels always stayed the same size. The art style is really beautiful, and the music is so, so gooood. Sometimes I can't see where to go very well though! Overall though this is a really splendid entry!

Bugyard by rilem 2017-04-25T14:21:11Z

@rilem the bug @rafaelspbarbosa has seems to occur when you click the left mouse button when dialog is open

Retro Rabbit by wtoa 2017-05-01T10:46:51Z

Really enjoyed this! Simple idea but top-notch execution! Music was great too and just made it a whole lot more exciting. I didn't realize I get bigger until the second munch mode when I ate so much haha (and then i died). Gameplay didn't feel unfair. One nitpick though, is that I thought the green stuff was *bad* (I thought it was poison or something). I only realized it was good when I tried to eat it on the third try

All in all this is a really great entry! Great job! :)

Acquaintances by RodrigoNietiedt 2017-05-07T03:11:10Z

This was a pretty cool game. I liked the music at the start screen, haha. To add on to others' feedback, I think having a more dynamic gameplay would be good, like for example people walking around. That would have been crazier! Either way, it was a good entry.

Diminishing Lands by drazil100 2017-04-28T12:24:57Z

Good simple concept. I like that you can see what tiles are coming next! Personally, I wish there was a bit more of a progression, or even something that makes you more anxious, as right now it feels a bit repetitive.

Overall a good game! Controls are tight enough too. Great job!

Infinite Planet by gaffa 2017-05-01T10:01:26Z

This is a pretty cool concept! I like the minimalism. Also I think it would look better if the blocks dont spawn instantly (maybe they grow out of the planet?). And to be honest I'm still not 100% sure how to jump works. Otherwise it was pretty fun! Good job!

Johi Farm by AVAVT 2017-04-28T11:04:57Z

I had an enjoyable time playing this! I like that it even had a boss fight.

The music is pretty good. My problem with the graphics is the inconsistency, especially with proportion. For example, the friendly bug (when a baby) looks kinda squashed, and the different stroke sizes (I assume you draw them all at the same size and resize the sprites) make it kind of unappealing, but otherwise it's quite cute.

Definitely +1 to the not knowing what to do after digging the hole, because I thought the objects in the first screen were part of the background.

Finally I think the interaction with the water beaker can be more forgiving, usually when I push it I spend like a couple seconds attacking instead, which is frustrating.

Overall it was a good game! Good job :)

Finitely Big by gemcc 2017-04-29T11:39:05Z

I loved this! The music was really great, and I like how the literature flowed along with the music and visuals. And the best part is this game is *literally* small! Awesome job

Slightly Angry Max by Takusan 2017-04-28T12:12:22Z

This game is pretty fun! Definitely wish the whole game was faster. Right now it feels way more tactical than action. If everything moves faster then it will feel more intense. Also just a small nitpick: the game isn't pixel perfect. Overall a pretty good game for your first LD! Good job!

I Want To Explore by joekinglake 2017-05-01T11:16:36Z

I really like the 1 bit art! My biggest concern is that I didn't know what to do at first. I spent a solid 30 seconds of just clicking around until I watched your video and realized I had to click on the right side of the globe. Maybe an arrow on the left or right would be good (or at least just on the first screen). I also really liked how it ended (or should I say did not...) that again brings it back to the theme. Great job!

Afterbirth by xxDOOMbox 2017-04-28T11:35:18Z

STOOOP THAAAT BAAABYY :baby:

This game is pretty funny! Haha. I think variations on the doctor's attacks could have been better! Right now it's just whipping in time, which is pretty easy...

Great job!

Landshift by undefinist 2017-04-29T04:44:03Z

hey, thanks for the feedback!

@huvaakoodia If you can't push any tiles on rows/columns, you can't spawn any -- but I do agree it's kinda stupid! (So i'll probably change it -- but no, it's not a bug!)

@jk5000 @darknesszx I do agree on it's difficulty, but it's also quite a hard problem to tackle. When @tempestcognitor told me he had a 2000+ highscore, I was amazed. Then I played a game, stopped and thought of every move I did, and got 9000+. That said, I had thought of making stuff like bomb/volcano tiles, or even weather effects.

Landshift by undefinist 2017-04-30T14:21:41Z

@simonhutchinson @samurai-spark thanks for your feedback! Glad you liked it! Yeah, I'm aware about difficulty, and it is something that I'm thinking really hard to solve. And I am working on getting it to mobile :)

Landshift by undefinist 2017-05-01T02:50:34Z

@for-science @badram thanks for the feedback! I'm thinking of a non-consecutive undo, where you can only undo for that one turn. That means you place tile 1, tile 2, and you can undo tile 2 but not tile 1 anymore (a game called Topsoil recently released which had this -- it was really useful but not abusive at all)

Landshift by undefinist 2017-05-01T13:34:27Z

Thank you all for the feedback!

@avavt @wtoa yeah tutorial and tweaking difficulty is definitely on a to-do list

@joekinglake that's awesome to hear! appreciate it! Yeah, a background track will definitely be in a future release.

@yetikatt regarding that, yeah, I'll look into it!

Landshift by undefinist 2017-05-06T13:14:10Z

Thanks everyone for the feedback!

@photon yeah, a late game hook is something I've been pondering hard on. @seconddimension yeah it's definitely harder. I wouldn't say that's the reason, more so it's harder to complete a feature.

Micro Grotto by xnblank 2017-05-01T06:53:25Z

This felt really polished! The graphics were pretty good and the audio matches. Nitpicks: The character felt really heavy -- I think the jump curve could be tweaked a little. Also, this felt more like a reflex platformer than a puzzle platformer. The keys could be also less restrictive; a lot of times I prefer using WASD than arrow keys -- why not just allow both? Less restrictive keys means less time figuring out and getting used to the controls. Other than that, this was a really good game! Great job! :)

Talkies by Bernhard 2017-05-06T16:32:59Z

This was an interesting game. I really liked the concept behind this. I feel though that the puzzles are kinda simple -- I don't think the current mechanics as it stand can support complex puzzles though. My biggest complaint is that I actually have a hard time finding the other person. Like guy A wants to connect with guy B, and it takes me at least 10 seconds to find guy B. I think this is due to the sprite size and how so many of them look the same and colored so similarly (and also because I'm kinda tired). Pretty good entry overall! Good job!

LD42 — Running out of space

Hydrogenic by Gabe 2018-08-13T05:28:20Z

I liked it! Really fun! Simple mechanics, but well executed. Personally, I didn't like how confusing left/right was.

Space Escape by paulhocker 2018-08-15T03:54:28Z

I was definitely really focused on the gemboard. Then I realized that warp 100 would win the game. Even after getting that I didn't win? Confused.

Some thoughts: Maybe turn-based would work better? So you sorta have to strategize your next move, and after your move the enemy shoots you and your resources are depleted. Also, I wish the gems had the shifting down animations when you make a match!

All in all, I really liked the concept. It's a fun game overall! Good job!

Tiny Kingdom Builder by RenD 2018-08-16T08:06:08Z

I had a ton of fun on this one. Very polished! Awesome job. I'm not sure how I got the gamejolt page (did you change the link to itch.io after?) Wish there was a timeless mode.

Tiny Kingdom Builder by RenD 2018-08-16T10:05:34Z

@rend Yeah, that makes sense. Personally, I love puzzle games, but I usually like time to think haha. Only managed to get till 3.1k after like 3 or 4 tries. As for infinite mode, I think for infinite mode to work, you need some sort of difficulty ramping.

Skipping Cats by Lovro Kalinovčić 2018-08-14T00:36:48Z

This was great! I was not expecting the puzzles to have this amount of depth -- was pleasantly surprised!

A Bunny's Tale by undefinist 2018-08-13T04:46:01Z

@xyntell honestly, the whole thing is kind of a joke. It was originally planned to be you gotta wait 6 hours or watch an ad. But yeah, changed to clicker.

@smilewood yeah, honestly the clicker idea only got to me like 8 hours before submission. I really wanted to add better platforming but heh, not enough time!

@balduvian-dead yes

@pancakevader if i had more time to work on the clicker mechanics, definitely. As it presents now tho, the platforming is pretty short. Just.. uh... 5 minutes worth of clicking!

@batmanasb my friend when I let him play it -- "10 minutes of my life"

@madar-games it's kind of a joke, it's really a clicker game in the end. Yeah, maybe I should have added a restart or clear save.

@nehvis you can upgrade... it's just 5 minutes worth of clicking :D

A Bunny's Tale by undefinist 2018-08-13T04:56:29Z

@vulpineblazeyt Haha... can't say I disagree. LOL.

A Bunny's Tale by undefinist 2018-08-16T15:32:47Z

@vivek-sharma20 you missed the joke. it's a clicker game.

A Bunny's Tale by undefinist 2018-08-17T04:23:01Z

@nam-nguyen thanks for the comment! Unfortunately, the clicker idea only got to me like 8 hours before I submitted. And I had no idea how to do clicker games. So yeah, if I had more time I would have definitely expanded the clicker stuff. The humor's been hit&miss with people haha

A Bunny's Tale by undefinist 2018-08-19T04:06:17Z

@shell-pirate The only 5/5 comment for my game this LD. I feel like a new man upon reading it. My brains have grown twice in size, I’ve grown a beard which has proceeded to also grow a beard, I can now cut a log with my jaw line and the only fluid I intake is beer pumped directly into my veins via IV. Truly this comment has transformed the boy into the man so please accept my sincerest gratitude.

A Bunny's Tale by undefinist 2018-08-26T08:46:04Z

@ursagames thanks for playing! really liked seeing your reaction on stream.

Match In A Bottle by Tiberiusuciu 2018-08-13T04:02:46Z

It's an interesting game idea! However I felt that the randomness wasn't managed well. Because blocks need to connect, the entire game hinges on RNG. Even if you had perfect moves, you could still lose. Furthermore, since the player can only jump 1 tile high, it's easy to get stuck. Getting respawned in those spots are also not fun. I think maybe if this had the typical match-3 mechanic of swapping 2 tiles, it would be better?

All in all, I think it's not a bad game, especially considering you had half the time due to finals... My finals are this week x.x Good job!

Demon Space by FreezedIce 2018-08-15T07:34:46Z

Genius! This was a fantastic concept. Solved it all! Well, the library was auto-sorted by windows explorer ;) And The Beatles wikipedia page sure is confusing :p Loved it, awesome job!

French, Pen Price, DOOM! by Mmmuscus 2018-08-27T14:40:05Z

Very interesting! Some nitpicks: The pieces had (i guess?) weird collision, so sometimes pieces get put back even though they weren't touching. The instructions were hard to read, you should really either use a font, or write more neatly. Overall though, it was a good effort! Well done!

Colouroboros by dmtroy 2018-08-14T10:57:25Z

Interesting concept. I think my biggest gripes with the game is the controls and movement. I don't understand why you didn't go with up/down/left/right for the controls, instead of l/r for cw/ccw -- I got confused a lot and misplayed. The other thing that didn't feel right is how you didn't move immediately. I get that it moves at a certain speed, but it still doesn't feel right when there's a delay before knowing if your input went through.

All in all, I loved the concept, but controls and movement gets unbearable for me. Good effort!

Climb by Albin 2018-08-15T06:07:36Z

Charming art style with the hand drawn stuff! Nice concept, but feels too unfair and luck-based. Congrats on finishing your first jam! ;)

Will Survive by foxserranu 2018-08-14T01:01:18Z

Lovely pixel art and sound effects. But like everyone else has mentioned, gameplay definitely falls short. I didn't see all the screenshots on this page so I thought the game would go on forever; I gave up after 4+ minutes because I felt I was doing the same things over and over. Maybe even have stumps blocking the player would make the game feel less repetitive and more skill-based (and add to the theme). Nevertheless, great game! Good job :D

Cluttered Mind by HAUO 2018-08-17T07:23:50Z

I'm not quite sure what I played, but that was an interesting experience!

Hoarder by Dr_Monkfish 2018-08-13T13:44:24Z

Pretty cool concept! Nitpicks: Movement and controls feel janky. I was using kbm, and I felt the pickup/rotate should have used other keys. I accidentally missed the controls when playing your game, and I tried to pick up with the up button. TAB and Shift feels weird to press in conjunction too.

But! I liked how you throw furniture into the grid to get rid of them. It's a unique take on Tetris. Good job!

Claustrophobic Typist by Willyb321 2018-08-19T04:01:12Z

Cool idea. I feel like words should have more variations in length, rather than a fixed increase, to give more rhythm in the gameplay. This should also give players a chance to bounce back -- If they're near losing, and all the words are long, they won't have a chance of getting back out.

Running Out Of Space by AdmiralSpaceKraken 2018-08-13T03:50:28Z

Not a bad take on the theme! Slightly buggy, but pretty good considering this is your first game jam. Some thoughts: Maybe have it be less random? When you're on a lower platform, it's sometimes hard to recover and you gotta pray for RNG. Maybe have the randomness be weighted towards the columns with lower heights? Great job nevertheless!

Crate Typist by Luca1152 2018-08-16T10:25:13Z

I'm no typist, got to 616/Wave 8. Think it was cool, but it feels just like any other ordinary typing game, tbh. Maybe if the crates actually stacked when it got to the center, it'll fit the theme even better. Overall tho, it was a good game, and I enjoyed it!

California Jane by fivenamefivesocks 2018-08-14T11:32:38Z

This is an absolutely stunning game! Very polished, if I wasn't in LD I'd be surprised this was a jam game.

Minor stuff: The tiles were mentioned before -- I was confused for a bit at the start between the 2 broken tiles. Another minor visual design: The block walls (the ones that can trap you) look like the same height as the idols, so feels weird that I can jump the idol but not the blocks.

A little annoying: The controls were kinda annoying. I get that you wanted to allow the player to press and hold? But a lot of times I wanted to move one tile or land on that tile after jumping, but I moved one extra tile forward.

But all in all, this is an awesome game! Good job :D

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

The Trolliest Problem by allthebees 2020-10-05T03:35:17Z

Funny dialogue. Don't see much relation to the theme. Wish there was more choices to be made. Had fun.

Red Snow: The Thirteen Dwarves by undefinist 2020-10-05T02:40:54Z

@xenon27 there is sound but yes, definitely needs more.

Red Snow: The Thirteen Dwarves by undefinist 2020-10-05T03:22:51Z

@lvidusk @rex64 @bradyg haha yes, I completely forgot about walling off the bottom. Thanks for the comments!

Glide by egawag 2020-10-18T10:47:41Z

I really liked this game! 6k on my first run. The mood is great. Definitely consider continuing work on this game!

Stuck in An Egg by Demuss 2020-10-18T09:16:10Z

It was a cute little game! I particularly liked the egg being angelic and lighting up parts of the level ;) Only thing I got confused about was picking up the screwdriver, I thought it was a spoon for some reason due to limited vision. Once I spam clicked and clicked on the pluses I realized they were screws. Overall great job!

Splines 'n Shapes by SharkWithLasers 2020-10-05T04:09:48Z

I really *really* enjoyed this game. I'm a huge fan of puzzle games and minimal yet pleasing graphics like this game has. Playing with beziers to make sure they go through things in the right order was a brain teaser I never thought of before. The audio went hand-in-hand really well with the gameplay. Few nitpicks: Wish there was a way to "reset" the points, and wish the difficulty scaled not just in number of points (thanks for stopping at 7... or was it 8?), maybe with like points you should avoid, or even moving points. Overall, this was an excellent job! Thank you for making this.

BagJam by Ryan Paton 2020-10-05T10:32:25Z

Funny concept! Had some fun, but really frustrating: Pushed bag out by accident and it was left there for the timer to go to 0, and I wished there wasn't a queue but a vertical line of people. Overall good job!

Loopsie by Enes Ayyildiz 2020-10-05T03:01:42Z

Reminds me of temple run! Wish the turning was less disorienting, the change should be more gradual. I liked the tiles dropping in during the run. Good job overall!

proceed by anchorlight 2020-10-05T03:19:18Z

Really wanted to enjoy this game. I really liked the mysterious vibes it gave. Movement wise I wish there was more control (sometimes I just want to go quickly and unable to move back if I'm on a trajectory towards a gap), and like guy above mentioned the first few jumps were really short for some reason. Wish there was more instructions or guiding points, I got stuck at "If you use my items put it back", and having to reset and go through the rest loop many times was really annoying.

Base Defender by Skeffles 2020-10-18T09:35:42Z

Fun little game, but really needs to increase difficulty over time.

Loopity Loop by JafCraze 2020-10-18T09:44:26Z

Neat little game, I just find the camera cuts a little nauseating.

Concentric by Scraggle 2020-10-05T09:04:42Z

Nice concept! Thought it was gonna be complicated from the instructions but it turned out pretty simple. Wish there was a way to speed things up, or the game to figure out you have no more options left and either game over, or shuffle the board (I was stuck in the middle). Also, you can host web builds on itch.io

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

The Matter at Hand by Chaseplays 2018-04-27T03:02:55Z

This was really good! I feel like if the cards enforced the movement direction too (in the first level, I thought move-3 means the pawn had to move in an L), it would enlarge the possibility space of the game (I love puzzle games!)

Flowdrive by Dustyroom 2018-04-24T11:53:46Z

This game is absolutely gorgeous. I really love the art style. I feel like the car behaves weird when it collides with stuff, and I wish there were more puzzle complexity. Overall an amazing game!

Dance Dance Shoot 'Em Up by xandrew 2018-04-24T11:23:22Z

Interesting combination! I wish the bars were simpler to hit, or in the middle of the screen, as I find it hard to both look at the bars and move around the screen.
