Was eager to find out was the next graphical de-evolution was going to be. Liked that aspect a lot.
I feel your pain with collision issues. It's hard... But maybe allowing restarts of each level instead of the entire game would have been better, so more people could have seen all the styles.
I enjoyed the uniqueness of each of the puzzles. Also I somehow didn't expect to be able to bring items into the other rooms, had quite the AHA-moment :-)
Screenshots remind me of "Black Lake" from Double Fine, which is cool, couldn't play it though as I have no XNA stuff.
This is quite cool! Has a rhythm game feel to it which I like. First win with only two keys but then made some effort to beat the enemy with 3 keys. Very satisfying!
Another vote for the undo button! Other than that I found this to be quite a unique puzzle game.
I first thought the inverted areas where the player isn't visible would make it hard but I could move well. A variety of levels or maybe random platforms would have been nice.
It seems you made this using Linux, which only adds to the quirky awesomeness :-) Well done in assembly, it is inspiring me to try something like this one day. Very interesting.
Level 4 was quite tricky but I finally got the timing right.
I couldn't select blocks in the editor with the mouse wheel and was only able to place blocks (WinXP, Java 1.7).
Being able to save mid level is maybe excessive but together with the level editor it feels very complete.
Fun little toybox. Runs very stable and the infinite world seems well coded. Sadly no source to check out :-(
Definitely seems inspired by Starseed Pilgrim, if not, quite a fun coincidence :-) Hope you find some way to add gameplay into the sandbox, good luck!
Wow this game is really well polished. Everything has some animation and some effect going for it adding to an overall very good experience. Also nice to have an actual achievable ending.
A bit too much meme-heavy on the humor for my taste, but everything else is perfect.
Pretty good qix clone, the transitions are what made it!
Love me jetpacks! Graphics are cool and it runs fine on my laptop. Maybe some jetpack fuel limitation/recharge mechanics would have added some needed gameplay.
Hilarious! Loved the sounds and Finger UI transitions :-)
Both modes were quite hard but a very fun and interesting twist on an old (but still awesome) game idea!
A Mini-Game collection! Very minimalistic :-) Liked the train one the most. Had to beat it twice because I had no sound in SeaMonkey browser at first then played with Chrome. The ending music was the best so it was worth it :-)
Wish I could have come out to Jam with you guys in Kichijoji but I had no free minute, next time maybe!
Not sure why there is collision for the shots but not for the robot itself.
Here it didn't show the mystery yellow number in the lower right from the screenshot. Maybe it's debug info :-)
Anyway, props for real C++ gamedev, good start!
Couldn't get over the first gap :o Yeah a background, or a further zoomed out view might help.
It's a fun unique puzzle idea, I liked the little tiny bit of some platforming mixed in. I assume with more time a lot of interesting mind bending puzzle levels could be made. For now it shows off its ideas quite well.
Took me way to long but I finally built the crown!
I know it is supposed to be minimal, but an inventory listing and something like a 1pixel height map overview would have been very welcome >_<
Still a great game! Goes well with a podcast :-)
Well made, and I'm glad it's not one-hit-kill :-) Oh, and the music ♪♪♪
Wow, some really amazing tech powering this entry. It just looks stunning. From the intro-zoom all to the end. Also, I found the built-in editor and had some fun with that as well :D
466/16 is what I got I think.
I had two AHA moments, first was when I understood that the level shown was the next one not the one I just failed, and the second one I leave others to figure out themselves :-)
Pretty awesome simplistic. I liked it.
I saw you mentioned it in the description, weird that the EXE version somehow uses the wrong aspect ratio. Ran at 4:3 here which cuts off sides which makes it harder but it was playable.
Thanks for all the comments guys!
Further balancing and something more besides the current endless mode seems like next steps for this game!
@playvue @RealyUniqueName , the game would play quite differently with hotkeys yeah, would be ineteresting. I kind of like how it is almost equal between touch screens (Android and upcoming iOS) and desktops.
I added two screenshots from my highest score round. I started the base with 3 farms and reduced to 2 and made it until wave 408. I kind of wish that the tutorial stated something about many farms not being required. Or maybe even limit the number of farms available for building.
Somehow found the city level to be easier than the volcano :-) I ran out of time twice in the volcano.
Anyway, really well polished game. It's another one of those "how was this done in 48 hours??" entry for me :-) Really cool music, couldn't believe there was another tune for the city level.
Always Hamburger! I turned out 100% goofy and 0% everything else HAHA. Diagonal movement would have been nice to have.
Very cool style look and sounds.
Dodging my own bullets was a bit annoying but the controls were easy to get used to.
After 500 points it got quite fast and I jumped into the flying atom at 600. I liked the movement and jump with air control. Well done for a first minimalistic game :-)
PS: I found and clicked the potato button but nothing happened I think
I liked the pushing people around part of it :-)
Maybe I should have tried to push one of them into the sky-exit
Same as wolfadex here ...
Love the filesize of this entry though, good job :-)
Nice game version of the not-really-a-game Conway's Game of Life :-) I liked the visuals with the zoomed in view having borders and the generated sounds based on the ongoing movement.
Dragging each Pixel out was a bit tedious though. But just drawing on the field would probably make it too easy.
Love love the music! I remember leaving this open for a while in the background just for the music when you posted a build on IRC during the compo :-)
Though, as much as I like them, I still suck at bullet-hell shooters... Couldn't get very far :-(
Bonus for real game development (C++) :-)
Amazing tech demo there. Looks like the start of a great game!
The AI is perfect already, just as dumb as in GTA :-)
Gray screen issue on WinXP 32 Bit and straight crash "Desaturation.exe has stopped working" on Win8 64 Bit...
Wow amazed at how much is in this game. It's very well made and all the systems feel very complete.
The start was a bit rough as I didn't get to the fusion torch and made me freeze the first night. I had to look at the guide to proceed :-)
Sometimes I wanted to know what a certain symbol means, Nethacks ; command or mouse click examination would have been nice.
Other than that I'm really impressed by this entry!
I'm not up-to-date on my Match-3 game news, but having 2 types of matches seems innovative to me! Great idea!
No time pressure was welcome, made it through the SEXY difficulty with ease :)
Endboss killing me made me rage-quit :(
Extremely well done though. Played almost an hour.
I liked the painted look together with the used graphics filtering and the game got easy once I started to use the double jump. It seems really hard to make 2D games in Unity is what I learned :-)
I think there's much to appreciate here. Random level generator, an AI that moves and peruses the player in some ways, collision and destroying of enemies.
If there were just an enemy counter and a YOU WIN screen when all enemies are dead it would have been a very decent entry in my opinion.
Also having a single EXE file with no dependencies is really nice to have. Bonus for real C++ game development!
I like the presentation but couldn't figure out the game >_< I tried 10 times but the highest score I got was when doing nothing at all (1000 points)
Couldn't figure out the level with the 3 long ones and the two boxes >_< But I love 2D physics so its cool♪
Well rounded entry complete with assignable controls nicely done. Like the smooth UI overall. Game itself reminded me a lot of this years "Dollar Dash" but with the unique invisibility twist.
Bonus for real game development (C++) :-)
Kinda relaxing :-)
Some bleep chip sounds would have made it complete I think.
Very simple but runs well :-)
My highscore was 23 - Which might be the maximum as the random blocks were all floating in the air.
A tad less randomness for the blocks could have been quite cool. But I know how hard it is to make randomness well playable...
Woo just made it over 10k, 10229$ is my final money.
Just saw it wasn't winnable in the original submission which is a bummer, but it's pretty good now. Quite ambitious entry, very well done!
Scored 267767. Very fun unique little game.
Someone suggested putting this out on smartphone, DO IT! Maybe reverse the direction (down to up) so it can be easily played with a thumb on a touch screen.
I ran until it was purple and then died and the only thing I crafted in my life was a potato /o\
The crafting system seems interesting but I had no idea how to use it or if I even should use it until the end. Maybe I could have built a better weapon to beat the green or purple triangles?
Really liked the audio-visual presentation. Story, online score tracking and everything, unbelievable for 48 hours, well done!
Also bonus for real game development with C++ :D
As far as I'm concerned, the only thing missing is the toilet. Or maybe that's whats outside :-)
It's ok I guess? Well done with having a proper ending and everything!
Whoa it's hard >_< But feels very complete, well done!
Felt very polished and well done!
Didn't really get the count down/timer that appeared some times but the pretty colors kept me playing for quite a while :-)
I think I rock-drilled the bomb away and lost once :-)
0 Points? And I thought I was pretty good at turning my head in circles...
Made it! That final abort switch floating above the death trap was quite a dick move >_< Thanks for the soothing music :-)
Very well done all around!
Simple but very well done. All smooth and good jump feeling and everything, cool!
Was very entertaining and funny. And the amount of art and music created was quite astounding!
Nice one!
Looking forward to your next time :-)
Killing enemies that are facing the wrong way is the best :D
I like this. And I hate this >_< Damn Factory! HAH!
Cool and unique look and unique idea, too.
Cool graphics, cool movement, cool weapons, impressive entry!
Wish it was compiled with the XP compatible compiler setting and statically linked C++ runtime :(
Way cool! I won on the third try as I figured out the mechanics along the way. Really impressive for 48h, and done in C++!
Great blood particle effects! YEAH!
Love the smooth animation and the fluid controls! Really cool game. There's a memory leak which prevented me to play longer than 20 minutes or so, I just couldn't beat 35-39 :-)
Makes a really good first impression with the moody rain and graphics. Maybe a score counter would have been nice. Well done anyway.
Cool simple game, easy to understand. I liked the music, its now stuck in my head ♪
Also high-five for using a real programming language!
I looked at the source and tried to find out if the memory eating is a bug or feature, I think its a bug but I'm not sure HAHAHA
Very impressive entry!
Nice little game, and I also saw the treasure as fire at first :-)
Indeed good base for a dungeon crawler with enemies and stuff.
I win!
Hehe, props for doing it all yourself in C++!
I enjoyed your story as written in the description, would have been fun to have the text as an intro :-)
Was nice to see the red fish reacting to being lured into the bigger beings without reading the hints :-)
Also high-five for using a real programming language!
Like the graphical style, very cool that it was all made in raw C++
Not sure if weird humor or political message though o.O
Very unique and pretty cool look. Wish there was a high score I got in a pretty good move/shoot rhythm there.
Unfortunately I somehow got stuck in the upper wall of the 3 switch room and couldn't move anymore. But I enjoyed it a lot until then. It's impressively big.
wowowow all around super amazing
Too bad there wasn't enough for some sounds but it still is very impressive
Reminded me of the Adventures of Lolo games on the NES, which I used to adore
Interesting controls, the mouse only thing actually works.
Cute graphics nice tree generation.
Some Christmas-y music would have been perfect :-)
@FloatingGhost: whoa thanks for the notice. Apparently router issues fixing going on. I switched it to an alternative host for now.
@every one else: Thanks for the all the comments and thanks so much for playing!
Liked the falling block mechanic, wanted to reach the top but then those evil saws came >_< Finished the game but only 6 trophies or so. Maybe I'll try again to get them all.
Would be cool if there was an actual game mechanic with the accumulating rubble.
Also I feel your pain with the platforming as its always hard to do it well with physics driven movement.
Huh, I liked it quite a bunch. There seem to be enough levels and ideas in there that I feel it would have been a much better experience if the retry button would just let the player tinker with the placement until he/she can clear the level. The gravity switches and other advanced pieces are pretty cool.
I wasn't sure if I was doing good or bad and in the end it looked that I can't really lose but who cares, it looks amazing for sure. Quite ambitious project for the compo entry. Thumbs up!
Nicely done short story.
The music played twice on my second try which was kind of awesome, haha.
Would have loved to see the cool chopper ending as well :-)
My aunt made made 433$ from the comfort of her home doing nothing but drill for lava! It's so easy! Anyone can do it!
Guess it would have been great if there was some kind of economy that can be influenced or something? Anyway, nice try
Really cool everything. It starts out easy but then after a few waves I got more strategic like trying to time the reloads to zombie deaths. Well, except for the UZI, it was just straight dumpin' then :-)
But on my machine the game started to noticeably slow down after ~13 rounds or so, and then even crashed at wave 20 with "Fatal Memory Error, Out of Memory!". Guess something is not cleaning up properly?
The Windows build only let me chose 4:3 aspect ratio resolutions but the web build ran great.
Relaxing game, I do love me some mirror puzzles!
Yeah, actual goals would have been really great.
Another one of those "I can't believe thats possible in 48h" entries. WOW! Really well done!
Wow, really impressive entry!
Besides the awesome gameplay, there's like a full soundtrack in here. Unbelievable.
So many dudes! And dudettes!
2937 points, YEAH! Stage uhm, 15 maybe?
Hehe, 70 stages is kinda insane.
Very cool overall, hitting spacebar got kinda tiring :-) Maybe I should have switched to Z/M.
Yeah, this has a really cool look
Some more stages/waves of enemies and a powerup or two and this would have been perfect!
Whoa rough night in the jungle!
it got very hard once the wave start immediately filled the screen :-)
Agree that additional weapon/powerups would have been awesome.
Yeah pac-man clones! *high five*
Why does the red note exist? NEVER STOP THE MUSIIIC~
Made it up to 9500 points.
Add microtransactions to reduce the wait, it's genius!
Just kidding, punching machine guns is pretty sweet.
But restarting at the beginning was kinda harsh :-(
Rather simple but quite relaxing :-) I got 30164 points YEAH!
Great idea, great style. I liked the bug which randomly spawns hundreds of coins :-) I think the random restarting only happens after dying once so restarting the whole game helped me there.
It still was quite hard. Maybe analog shooting/mouse aiming would help. Loved it anyway!
Sweet look and I think this totally fits the theme. No moving camera just a little panning.
Took me 68.48792 seconds (yes I'm sure every last digit of the timer is important (-:)
24 points I got!
Its kinda hard and the cases where you just wait to die suck a bit. But the duplicating and flying crates were fun :-)
Also I didn't hate the music at all ♪
Checkpoints would have been appreciated alooooot >_<
Other than that liked it alot, jumping felt pretty good and everything. Thumbs up!
Feels very complete and polished, really liked this entry a lot. I became a Knife Knight wooo
I won! And then lost! Pretty shapes, and sometimes the shape gets weird but that's cool. Then I wondered if it's supposed to be a two player versus game. hmm
Wow, just wow.
Especially without the source code though it's kinda unbelievable that this was a 48h solo production. I'm actually quite impressed at this 104kb executable packing so much punch (quite literally HAHAH). Would love to see it :-)
Did it! On my third or fourth try. Quite a challenge. Cool idea for the theme. If there was more of an AI there could also be behavior as part of the profile which could be cool.
Very cute! And what a mellow match that was with that music :-)
The AI was kind of amazing clever and sometimes kind of amazing dumb.
@ andrewkennedy, wow Jetpack reference.
Really amazing game. The soundtrack, wow! So jealous :D
Thanks for making it
Whoa that was scary I jumped in my seat >_< I mean the part when I got transported into the hellish living room of the abominable snowman :O
I got the following error while starting up:
Failed to compile fragment shader!res/shaders/background.frag Fragment shader failed to compile with the following errors: ERROR: 0:20: error(#132) Syntax error: "f" parse error ERROR: error(#273) 1 compilation errors. No code generated
I then fixed it by changing "2f" to "2.f" in said source file.
Uhh, then I recruited some dudes and slowly shoved them into enemy territory but then a thousand guys spawned and instantly killed me :-) Aside from the missing gameplay I quite like the graphics and the sounds you made. If there were some kind of tactics or commands I could give to the recruits this would be quite cool I think.
I liked how the cells animated, nice effect that could lend itself well to other games. Really too bad you couldn't finish the game how you'd wanted. I, too, have had some LD submissions in the past that just didn't get past the neat-concept-but-where's-the-gameplay phase.
Liked this one a lot. Getting meat was the trickiest part but I finally got the lab built! I actually cleared it without needing the guide above, feeling very proud :-)
Very cool submission! Restarting the level with the same number of hearts and no way to replenish was kind of a bummer. I liked the lighting and water effects and the music, too.
Liked the simple 3D models. Even though some more gameplay (some score, minimap) would have been nice, it was oddly relaxing. I think I played it for like 20 minutes >_< Especially after half the forest burned down and I opened the eastern garbage dump facility. ForestDump.jpg
It's a cool idea and I played for quite a while but like others mentioned at some point it just becomes too hard to get bigger. The AI enemies having the quantum gravitation bonus always active and due to the physics-y behavior of the gamma rays it seems impossible to hit smaller enemies. That made it a bit frustrating in the end but overall pretty nice.
Edit: Made it to the end by running away a lot and picking up atoms here and there without trying to interfere.
Woo! I won! At the end it said I filled 300 out of 900 cells which didn't really seem correct. Also, the tech level number disappears after it goes over 999, I think that's a bug :-) At some point this became a clicker game which isn't a bad thing, hehe
Finished it! At first the control seemed weird but soon it all made sense. Nice!
Pretty neat, if the game had continues without resetting the bosses I'd have finished it :-) Was surprised to read the description saying there were 4 bosses but the game totally had 4 unique bosses, well done.
I think space resets the game? Also I didn't really figure out what the numbers next to the 4 battle actions mean and also everything does 3 damage with neither the dice roll or the type of action mattering, I think. Nevertheless nice hand-drawn art. Makes it stand out among all our pixel-art-y games :-)
What everyone else said :-) Really liked it. Was perplexed at first but once I understand the possible patterns and pausing and thinking through every move helped. I now got up to 4520.
Edit: Got to 6120
Edit: I wonder how much easier/nicer it would be if instead of only being able to insert new pieces into rows/columns which allow at least one piece to move to allow insertion everywhere.
Wow, it's hard. Got up to 2639 but I missed a powerup. They are kinda crucial and missing them is frustrating, but I had fun. But once the dark ships showed up it was over in seconds >_< Liked the music a lot. It gave it an alien invasion mood so I bumped the mood score :-)
Edit: Got 2715
This game is completely worth playing. You shouldn't write silly things like "go play one of the good entries I guess". It works, it has a start and an end, nothing really to complain about. A score at the end would be cool I guess? Sound maybe? Also bonus for the small download size :-)
Really cool that you had time to put together the daily level downloading. Zooming out the view is a clever trick to increase difficulty for the player which probably also made it easier to make increasingly difficult levels.
Love the simplicity! Ended up with a score of 1426.
Freedom! Clever little game here, at first I thought it was unfinished but I figured it out :-)
Shout-outs to the dad!
After three restarts I encountered a bug that basically disabled collision with the ground and just had fixed collision in the middle of the screen. So once the speed got super fast I could just let it run forever because there always seemed enough trees at the player height before power ran out. Currently at 110'000 points and running :-)
What everyone else said, incredible entry!
Game locks up if you jump in together with the 'hidden secret' (which definitely doesn't exist) and the action music doesn't stop once you run out of power even on restart.
The colors being random leads to some extremely similar looking pairs which can be a bit mean. Other than that it's fun to try to find pairs in as short of a time as possible. Maybe have a limited list of very distinct colors (maybe 4 panels of the same color) but then penalize mistakes with power drain? Just a suggestion :-)
Got up to 50 but then that one enemy enemies kept running away >_< Quite impressive for just 24 hours!
I ended up with 240 something coins but I think I replied to some math mail a billion times accidentally :-) Yeah it's a big wonky (couldn't figure out how to invert images) but it's a funny concept fitting the theme. Well done!
My best ended up with 12759 Somehow at acceleration level 5 the car does not move at all :o But somehow I played until that so that's something :-)
A few frustrating things kept me from getting past stage 3: - batteries disappearing after a while (or after getting shot) - restart not just the same stage but the whole game - carrying over power gauge into next stage (too low means you might as well reset)
Other than that I think it's a cool concept and pretty well executed!
Bit the dust at 380431 :-) Some sound and maybe one more mechanic would have been great but it's working and has an ending, so good job.
Edit: Turns out the score counter continues while the game basically stops when the tab is inactive. I now have over 1 million and counting :-)
Nice start here, see you in LD40 :-)
I think I would need bridges to advance further? As it stands I have delivery of yellow gold and pink gems with a lot of power left. I leave it running to see how much $ I end up with :-)
Edit: $5665 it was!
You submitted in the wrong category.
From the rules: - The Jam is the Ludum Dare event for everyone. Teams, individuals, anyone that wants to come out and make something. - Compo games are created entirely from scratch by one person, in just 48 hours
Heh, once I got the 200$+ per selfie contract I just kept on taking pictures in front of the coffee shop for big $$$. I guess that's how it really works, once you're famous you don't need to be interesting ;-) Very fun idea and good execution! A map would be nice as I had to take some 'leap of faith' into the next screen in hope of a coffee shop.
Reached 181 kills \o/ But, for me, it kinda turned out to be easier with more bullets, but it was still great fun! Great submission!
Update: Played again with Chrome where the framerate is better and thus the collision was more accurate and reached 1066 without an end in sight. Now my hand hurts from all the clicking, HAHA bullethell2.png
My scores: 547, 359, 475, 389
Wonder if this game would be easier to control if up weren't up but north, as it sometimes is hard to place things with the isometric style (especially on the inspection table). Also it would have been nice if picking up one of many nearby boxes was prioritized by [timed orders/bombs] > [unscanned box] > [other].
Other than these nit-picky improvements I think this is a good looking fun hectic game, loved it.
I don't remember which difficulty I chose but I ended up playing for over an hour with a score of 254. Here's the story of my Hank.
Everything was nice and neat. HoardingHank-Nice.jpg
Doing great! I think ... HoardingHank-StillOk.jpg
But suddenly, here's one of the Hanks last bathroom breaks ... HoardingHank-Bathroom.jpg
And then, desperately trying to move the bed to reach the stove for one last meal ... HoardingHank-End.png
But no... in the end Hank died of hunger while doing what he loves, pushing things.
Thanks for the game :-) (and sorry for the giant post)
294 signs! Sadly didn't beat that 317 score
Very cool game and very polished! Well done! It took me a bit to figure out that I needed to press the color matching arrow key to remove a file but then I slowly got better at it. I wasn't able to remember the arrow-color-code so I constantly had to peek to the upper-right before almost every file removal which hurt my eyes a bit. Ended up with a score of 3396.
I couldn't unpack the RAR file as well. Even though 7-Zip supports .RAR files but I guess it's some weird new RAR version? Maybe just pack things in a ZIP file because that's what everyone can unpack. Choosing compatibility over compression rate.
Edit: Oh, I guess you can just let the field fill up and then wait forever to get unlimited score?
Ahh, guess my 7-Zip needs to be updated >_< If it were just for me I'd distribute my games as .7z but having ZIP support in Windows Explorer is a pretty good argument for it, haha.
Can you play it blind without looking to the arrow chart? I tried to remember it but getting it wrong is worse than losing a sector so I always take a peek to make sure.
Sweet little story, I enjoyed it! Also, great music! [spoiler]Wish I could read some of the files there, sounds like some good advice ^^[/spoiler]
Great entry, especially it being done in one day! The soothing voice helped me through the highest difficulty \o/
Really impressive entry! I played until 2030 points but it seemed endless. It requires more ingredients but the allowed time to prepare stays quite long. At first I thought I needed to avoid more than 4 orders coming in until I realized new orders just stop when the list is full. It was quite stressful before, HAHA.
Wow this is quite impressive. The stages are very well made and offer the right amount of challenge without ever feeling unfair (except the final one, ugh). There either went a lot of care into the balancing or a lot of luck with making the levels. Great submission! Hopefully you get some more ratings!
Great great entry!!
It took me a few attempts but I ended up with a filled map and played until turn 247. I risked a transfusion and couldn't get something conjured in time and the enemies broke through. What a battle, what a downfall!
My only complain would be that added cards shift around the current cards. I wish that the cards just get added to the right with the whole set being left aligned. A card index outside the game would help in the beginning, it was kinda hard to learn all the cards while playing.
SMBM1.jpg SMBM2.jpg
Well, it's a game I guess (-: Awesome screen-shake effect. I got a score of 11!
I had a lot of fun playing with the contents of game.weapons via javascript console :-)
I finished the first level in a cinch but the second level... oof... some tricky jumps required with not so precise controls was hard. To be fair I played the HTML5 version with a keyboard. Probably native build with a gamepad would make it a bit easier?
Also I found out that you can "heal" the critters by just dragging their health bar down with the mouse :-)
I won with 4 survivors, yay! Ended up mostly shaking trees, haha. Pretty cool mechanics, they work quite well.
A small story, four unique abilities, responsive controls, the right amount of challenge. Well done! I quite enjoyed it!
@theseusinabottle Well that didn't work anymore in wave 18, HAHA! Nice game! But yeah, the first few waves could have used a "very fast" button maybe.
I loved the ending! I'm glad I restarted 3 times to get to it, great surprise!
I don't have that many complains (-: Sure knocking enemies is kind of a waste (good luck getting that brick back!) but distracting works well. I had to run around in the north-west woods a few times to get rid of a chasing guard which wasn't the most fun but it worked (-:
The thing I had most issue with was picking up multiple goats. I ended up dropping them most of the time and it only randomly worked for me.
Great game over all, can't praise the AI and path finding enough. Also dynamic music, wow!
Quick question, what is the gray human shaped thing at the top-left of the map?
Short and sweet, I liked it. No problem with the lantern section :notes:
Finished it in 6.39 minutes with 53 sacrifices. Yeah the rigid body physics based movement and collision can be a bit frustrating especially in a puzzle game. Jumps sometimes being super weak and the trampoline not going high. Nevertheless it was fun and introducing new mechanics throughout all the stages was very nice.
Finished it! Great cutscenes and art! The controls feel a bit loose and minions get stuck a lot but many somehow still find their way which is quite impressive.
Hah! I almost wanted to give up and watch the video but I made it! And that even after I failed at the boss once HAHA. Well done, sweet backgrounds!
Played until I had 163541 money, but 393660 is too much for the next production upgrade (-: Ended with 843 sacrifices.
Not sure what "Extra Drop: 1802" for the money upgrade means, also it was free. Same with the production upgrade, it didn't cost money (at least the later upgrades I bought).
Hooked me for quite some time though (-;
Made it to 384 on my third or fourth try!
The game actually got easier once a few platforms burned up so playing it slow at first seems to be the way to go. Nice art!
Yeah I like the art and I think its a good start. Just needed some challenge? I just dragged all the farmers onto a tile that doesn't get affected by the epidemy and the food just went up and up. Finally I murdered them all :knife:
That movement! So fast >_< Got to 700 points by running around a lot and using only bombs.
Nice fonts :-) For me it wasn't that easy... not sure if my approach was wrong or my clicking was bad. But I ended up beating it in easy mode. Good idea to have a difficulty selection!
Wow this game is quite impressive! People above should be more excited!
I reached wave 8 after dying a bunch in 7. The sacrifice mechanic works really well, graphics and sound are great. I have not much to complain really, I guess I wish I could shoot freely with the mouse instead of rotating the ship but that would have been a different game :-)
I ended up relying on L (laser) the most but I think all weapons are quite appealing and it's hard to choose which one to give up. The balancing is what makes it work so well. Good job!
That was cool! At first I thought the enemy behavior was a bit unpredictable but in the end I got quite good at it, counting moves in advance and stuff. After failing a level 2 or 3 times I wished the enemies moved a bit quicker as I had my first few turns planned out but had to mostly wait on enemy movements. Maybe skipping their move on key press or something.
Extremely well done! Plays very well, too. I made 119$ on my second try once I knew where everything was it went much smoother :-)
Holy moly yeah this is a really solid entry! Pumping music, great movement, tight gameplay, fair respawn points with zero frustration. Short but very very sweet.
@evergreen-games do what @tolmera said!!
Yeah placing things close-by seemed to be the way to go. I don't know what kind of constraints or requirements could make this a fun puzzle game, hmm... But as a toy, feeding stars to black holes, good fun
Nice, the only question is, what was it for dinner?
Thanks for playing everyone!
@madbeagle It does recognize it but in a very crude way (once it fills up a line above the player). I wish I have had time to make it more clever.
@local-minimum Thanks for playing! I just tried in Firefox 68 and 70 on Win10 as well and space bar jumping and double jumping all worked perfectly fine. But I remember during testing a single time I had a weird unresponsive jump and I thought my keyboard was dirty or broken but then it never happened again. If you have another browser available could you maybe try it? And if anybody else has that happen, a comment would be appreciated! I'm sure the downloadable Windows build is fine.
@local-minimum Thanks for the great feedback and trying in Edge, nice to know that it runs fine there!
Most time of development was spent on making the randomness less unfair, making it more fun would be the next step for sure.
During play testing and after release I developed some strategies that can get me to around level 100 once every few rounds.
I always try to get on the highest level and perform a jump as big as possible to scroll the screen as high as possible to see blocks appearing earlier. Having blocks show up first as a warning before dropping would have been a great improvement.
Also mastering the tripple-jump to leave ones position under a dropping block and getting around and on top of it all in air is sometimes required after level 50.
Speaking of moving blocks around, I once made a physics based game similar to this, [Puzilla](https://zillalib.github.io/games/?Puzilla) :-)
@jonno Thanks for playing my game! Regarding both of the distracting elements, as usual at first was nothing then it was too bland, then I ended up with maybe a bit too much. Somewhere in the middle might have been great :-) Thank you for the the kind comment and rating!! :bow_tone3:
@teo989 Thanks for playing and commenting! User LocalMinimum above also had a problem with the space-bar input. Are you also on Firefox on Windows 10? I really have no clue why only the space-bar acts weird. I'm using an original gamedev framework so I'd really like to fix this!
A spread gun makes every game great! Too bad it's a bit short but I guess adding a third upgrade room would need a lot of weapon variations.
After 2 levels I was like.. ahhhh I get it, start with nothing! Level 5 or so I made a mess and couldn't fix it, wish there was a reset level button. Other than that quite a solid submission
I thought the spread fire was the way to go at first but then I think water spray was better because of the speed. Maybe if one elemental power could not damage the enemies of the same color there would be more of an incentive not to just stick to one power. Overall good visuals and interesting concept!
I made almost 1700£ in 90 seconds, I'd do this job full time!!
This is a neat concept indeed!
At first I thought it was super easy and always will be but with 3's and 4's it turned out a bit tricky with just enough challenge and levels to make this quite entertaining.
And because @phil-c was asking for it, here's my creative (???) constellations: Constellations.png
I wish death didn't restart me in the first level as I died 3 times on the second stage. Other than that, this is a game!
That's neat, fits the theme quite well. It was fun playing it a second time I only lost a single live through all levels. Funny how memory works.
It took me a while to get to 5 points, then another while to get the sword. But then it suddenly was easy! Or so I thought! Sadly I got careless and they got me. A few tries later I crossed my arms so I could use the index finger on my right hand to jump. I've gotten better since and once even touched the laser I think. But the hand-off from sword to laser + shooting the oncoming enemy was too many actions to perform correctly and I somehow jumped off the rope. Never gotten the laser back since >_< Pretty good entry and the quick restart I'm reading so much about sure seems important :-)
That fish rolled on land and ate a lot of :apple: :apple: :apple:! Neat concept and hey, it has a start and a finish, it's a game!
Huh, that was neat, in an unexpected way! Short and sweet go try it! Surprisingly good AI :-)
5 times or so I died on the second bear with the sweater over it. It somehow always made me jump into it :-(
I don't think the last level has an end... I played for a while till a lot of the stations had a congestion. Then I made the biggest black hole until nothing was left, haha! Good music :notes: UseNothingSaveTheFactory.jpg
I made it till level 6 so I'm considering myself the winner so far in this comment section :-)
I liked how the limited boost always makes it possible to escape but it never becomes easy.
I somehow was able to make a hammer, a saw, a pile of planks and metal, yet interacting with the wreck did not do anything :-( A bit more feedback (when something was actually interacted with, when something was actually picked up) would have helped a lot. Also instead of just "Interact" it would be useful if it said interact in what way (or somehow if tool was missing). Still what is there is quite a lot, a lot of things to combine and an interesting hunger mechanic where you don't die but the viewing distance becomes less and less. Good job!
Made it to 204 woo. Nailing a quick up-up-down-down successfully felt quite good
:fox:
I ended up at level 202 / 10 and no more enemies appeared so I guess I won? Hooray. Maybe a bit buggy but I always enjoy a TD game during LD :-)
I mistakenly destroyed my flower    Until then I felt like I'm getting better and better at optimizing my very short free time, which was cool.
Made it to 285$ but yeah the beginning was rough, I had no idea what anything does. Still don't really know how the IT works or what the left/right arrows do >_<
Very adorable! At first I thought this is too easy but the last level was quite tricky. That means it's a good puzzle game. Well done!
I made it home, yay! :earth_asia:
Easy mode is a lot of fun, it gets quite chaotic
This is really good! Enjoyed it a lot. The difficulty was just right, and having the 100 zombies goal gave it a lot of meaning as opposed to an endless grind.
I kept the dream alive :fish: :diamond_shape_with_a_dot_inside: Enjoyed the art a lot, very nice!
Now I wonder what would have happened if I didn't give away the bread... Nice game!
Tree Saved!!! I really did it, I wanted to take a screenshot but the ending screen didn't last very long, haha!
I ran out of time 4 times trying over and over that third jump on the floating platforms... If only the jump was a bit more responsive.
Very neat, finally made it to the waterfall on my third try! :sunflower: :potable_water:
Hehe, stopped playing after 300 points. Guess there's no ending :-)
But hey, it's a game!
I ended up setting it to "Half" and just kept on clicking Bet until.... I lost. Sometimes it takes a while to lose sometimes it's quick. But I don't think there is any strategy that would make me win, right? I tried with "All" and I made it to 40$ and that was my highest score...
Edit: Made it to 63$ Well... Guess the house always wins :skull:
248 points! It's much easier with the mouse controls ;-)
10425, simple but satisfying gameplay!
400/400 hooray. Wait golden orbs??
Thanks again to everyone who played and rated my game!
For this last week of rating, here's the solution to all the stages:
!> Stage 1: Forward !> Stage 2: Forward, Forward, Left !> Stage 3: Forward, Left !> Stage 4: Reverse, Right, Reverse !> Stage 5: Forward, Right, Forward, Left !> Stage 6: Right, Forward, Forward, Forward, Forward !> Stage 7: Left, Forward, Forward, Right, Forward !> Stage 8: Left, Forward, Forward, Forward, Forward !> Stage 9: Forward, Forward, Forward, Left, Forward, Right !> Stage 10: Forward, Forward, Left, Forward, Right, Forward !> Bonus 1 Fast: Reverse, Right, Reverse, Reverse, Reverse, Reverse, Reverse !> Bonus 1 Slow: Reverse, Reverse, Reverse, Reverse, Reverse, Left, Reverse !> Bonus 2 Fast: Left, Reverse, Right, Reverse, Right, Forward, Left, Forward !> Bonus 2 Slow: Reverse, Forward, Forward, Forward, Forward, Forward, Forward, Left

I fully agree with you @rhoff95. I realized early on to actually make this idea work it probably should count driving into a wall as a failure. But then level design becomes much harder, beyond the gamejam scope/my ability. Also as you mentioned additional map features like things to pick up or teleporters could be cool. Or maybe customizable loop points like LOOP X TIMES, or LOOP INFINITE. But then again, there's probably plenty games like this around. Bummer that this did not pan out to be a puzzle game that makes the player feel smart, but there's always a next time  Thanks for playing and the thoughtful feedback!
Short and sweet, wish there were more levels!
I... somehow finished the game. I wasn't exactly sure how the clones worked and the game felt very sluggish. It sometimes slowly animated the clones repeating my actions but I sometimes could skip ahead. And in the end I just walked in circles and walked into the ending 3 times and I won. Hooray :-)
Made it to level 12!
I won! Kick ass music! I really wanted to hear more of the second part, but I finished the game in the middle of it and the game just restarted. Bummer!
Good thing I can get the source code with the MP3 :-)
Tip: When uploading a Unity project, you don't need to include the folders ".vs", "Library", "Logs", "obj" and "Temp". Temp and Library alone make up an uneeded 310 MB of the 320 MB zip file you uploaded. Keep that in mind :-)
It took me 4 runs to find the exit. At first I assumed the the past loop ghost would just repeat all my movement, it took me a while to realize that it path searches to the final location. Which in the end made a lot of sense, but I did not expect it :-) Cool concept and game
Reading the comments makes it sound like there is a logic to it. Need to try again :-) Edit: Got it! Hooray I'm so clever :man_dancing:
Played until 9 character long passwords. Was hoping for an ending.. Is there one?
Could not get to the 4th checkpoint... Neat mechanic though!
Didn't even have time to see what stage I ended up, but I bet I was really good! Showing the score on the end screen would have been nice. But cool entry nevertheless, nice music!
Quite a cool entry! Feels very complete.
That last section of the game felt a bit cruel, I finally made it with 7 seconds left after a lot of failures due to the dash not working. I think there is some kind of hidden cool-down but it was really hard to know when it can be used again. Some kind of indicator (maybe the item or the character flashing) would have been nice.
Other than that it was a neat maze to figure out and all the upgrades felt meaningful!
Finally a game I could finish! Nice work!
I wish I could keep the YEAH's going! But it gets too hard! Really solid entry
Neat game! Very complete!
I kinda missed the ending because
!> I thought I needed to bring that last diamond to the altar as well and suddenly the game restarted. Couldn't even look at all that treasure!
(click to reveal)
Ended up with Score: 5350, Time: 4:6,90 :-)
Total points 46850! In the end it felt like the second upgrade was better than the third? Distance over damage I think.
Yeah this is neat. It's one of those entries that first look a bit like nonsense but pretty much immediately it clicks. But I guess there is no difficulty increase so it just felt endless for now. A (forced) ending would have been nice so the high score could mean something.
The enemies can see more distance than the player feels a bit unfair.
WOLF MASTER! AWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! :wolf:
Wow that was stressful but I made it! Traps turned out to be clutch. Neat idea and cool art.
Everybody thanks for playing and the comments and feedback!
The TNT was in very early in development and the more movement I added and the better I became at playing the more useless it was. It certainly should have been cheaper as it's a good get-out-of-jail-card.
@adrupen @lichead-studio I assume you played the web version? I just finished it on both Chrome and Firefox and it runs great for me... What browser are you using? Anything else technically weird? How does it crash? Thanks for testing!
I wonder if there is another layer past red....
DigToTheCore2.jpg
Also don't upgrade to 13 or more drones, they all end up colliding into each other and won't ever move down again >_<
Edit: Reached 200 (and scientific notation of money numbers)
Was a bit frustrating that the first base neither serves as a checkpoint nor as a fuel refilling station :-( I couldn't make it much further than that...
Awesome level transitions. I ended up playing by moving with WASD but when shooting clicking once left and then holding right to get the mouse aim :-)
I wish there were some checkpoints along the level. Without any I couldn't bring myself to see it all the way through. But cool movement idea.
At first I was worried there was a limited amount of drones available but once I stopped worrying it made exploration fun and allowed me to finish the game in the end. Great entry and fits the theme well. And unlike many submissions (certainly mine) the thing that is "inevitable" doesn't mean it has to be game over.
38 days was my best score. That dude suddenly got really strong! Ouch!
One little issue I found was on the web version I played it seemed like every time I ended up on the title screen the music started over while the previous music kept playing. Nothing worrying, and as others said, great art and great fit for the theme, well done!
Cute game! I kept getting stuck twice and had to abort those attempts but other than that it was a fun challenge. At first I thought that the moving camera angle was a bit annoying to keep targeting things but I got the hang of it.
Almost gave up at the start of level 3 but then I figured it out, clever :-)
Great entry, I, too, enjoyed the bit of Mario 3 underground vibe I got from the music, ha ha!
FIRE.PNG That took a lot of time and a lot of clicking :fire: :fire: :fire: I guess I had enough fun to finish all the levels, so thumbs up from me! :-)
Thanks for all the comments everyone! Hopefully this LD I can get 20 reviews :fingers_crossed: It seems increasingly difficult these days...
If you're reading this, give the game a try! Thanks!!
Thanks everyone for playing and helping me over that dreaded 20 ratings goal :-)
@honey-pony Thank you for the feedback. The moving lighting was a bit of a last moment change to introduce a bit of variation in the visuals. I think I was thinking about screenshots to put on this page and imagined various lighting conditions would look good here but now that I look at it the two screenshots don't show that at all
Yes I use my own C++ [ZillaLib](https://zillalib.github.io/) for my game-jam entries. The library is now more than a decade old and being neat and tidy was important from the start. It does run on other platforms, including mobile, but for LD I think the web output is clearly the winning platform nowadays. Having gotten a virus here once a few years ago sure has cemented that idea for me.
If you look at the browser developer tools while loading it you'd see the entire game is just a single (compressed) 256kb JS file which has all the WASM binary and game assets embedded into it. I use a custom webassembly build system without Emscripten which does all the packaging directly from Visual Studio after coding and debugging natively on Windows.
Godot looks really good these days. The number of submissions and quality I see here on LD goes up every time. It's great to see that there is an alternative to Unity for so many people. I really should try it out some day.
Big props for the voiced tutorial! Not just the tutorial but all of the audio work was well done. Managing the simple task was rewarding when things worked out, even though that didn't last too long for me :-) Would have been great if there was a score at the end, even just number of seconds would have been fun to post here. Great submission, fits the theme well!
Wowowow very impressive I'm blown away. Great visuals and audio and foremost great puzzle mechanics where things just work as expected. This was a joy to finish, thanks!
Very impressive entry. I once tried something [similar for LD47](https://schellingb.github.io/Botloop/) but this is far beyond in every way. First of all the stages are all a decent challenge with a good steadily difficulty increase. As many have mentioned the UI is a joy to use and very intuitive. I have yet to try Godot so it's hard to say how much of the functionality comes built-in and how much was made for the jam, but nevertheless this being done in 48 hours with everything around it is astounding.
Hooray, I freed the island! Nice short game with a decent challenge but nothing too crazy. Games where I can win can never be bad, can they? A tiny bit more gameplay would have been appreciated, maybe the lava tiles stay or fall away to increase the challenge a bit. Or have the option to use a sheep to "fix" a lava tile so there needs to be a bit more strategy then just mashing spacebar. Nevertheless what is there is fun and complete and the drumming beat is pretty sweet, too. And who doesn't like throwing a few sheep at some laughing devil bucket face thing??
Dark ending :anguished:
95 seconds!
At least I'm not the only one who suddenly ended up with -60 coins
Wow the presentation! And on Pico8! Even the itch-io website has a nice design. And the game itself plays well, too! Color me impressed, well done, Captain!
Impressive cutscenes and the voxely look is pretty neat. It did feel a bit aimless but I did manage to delay the inevitable for 3 minutes, thanks to that one hammer I found. Now I saw someone got 4 hammers and I feel a bit jealous, no way I can compete with that! I never found any barrels on the top floor so I ended up neglecting it, not sure if that was a mistake. Overall the chaos and the chaotic music along with it was entertaining so I had a good time
Movement did feel a bit rough but I know it's surprisingly hard to make a good feeling platformer.
Some things to consider when making a platformer: - When landed on a surface the character sticks to it (doesn't slide too much, if the platform moves the player moves with it, etc) - Jumping has a nice arc, it also feels better that only when holding the jump button longer makes the jump reach the top height - Jumping is only possible while standing on a surface or very shortly after walking off a platform (unless there is double jumping) - During a jump the player has some air control - Collisions against walls don't change the vertical jump velocity (unless there is some intended wall jumping)
The list could go on. There's many YouTube videos that dive deeper and take apart some of the well regarded classics of the genre. For this being a first time jam this is certainly one to be proud of. It's a full game with an opening, a story and (I assume) an ending. I hope you try again, maybe another platformer that feels just a bit better or maybe something completely different.
I got to 131 and thought that was pretty good but here I'm blown away by all these 200+ scores :astonished:
Fun game, impressive compo entry for sure. Good sound and graphics with original gameplay!
At first I thought the music was dynamic and reacting to what I was doing. Maybe that's not the case, but maybe it is :-)
143.77 seconds was my best attempt.
I'm quite impressed by this game, it felt like it might be possible to defeat the moss. It's what kept me trying over and over. Even in the end it didn't feel like the moss had gotten that much more aggressive and I might have been able to burn a path through it and... well, it didn't work out :-)
Great game, well done!
The screen-shake causing the camera to shift is certainly a problem  I tried placing bombs more on the left side of the screen to make it shift back, which sadly didn't work. But if it did that would be a fun game in itself, maybe next LD
Speaking of play testing, I did find myself spending more time on testing this time which I remember thinking to myself "I could spend all this time implementing more features". Gamejams are tough!
Nevertheless, this certainly is a solid compo entry, well done!
Finished the last level with -240$ but at least I did it! Great pumping music and the parallax effect background was cool!
I made it to -306  But I had fun getting there :-) Nice submission!
It was fun to try to optimize for the best strategy and stuff. I made it to level 5 but too bad it asked me to start over all the way from level 1, I would have continued if it let me retry from the same day. Nevertheless great submission, congrats!
Holy moly well done with both the look and the music! I missed some of the dialog because I sometimes slightly touched the goal circle without clearly moving inside it but other than that it was a lovely experience.
Confirmed by looking at the source that there is no benefit past level 20  So I can tell myself I finished the game :-) Though somehow I can't stop watching the numbers go up...
It's pretty neat but I wasn't exactly sure what I was supposed to do :-) I ended up with 156 points, is that good? Or super bad? Someone tell me! Haha, nice submission!
This was great fun! It said I became the perfect worker in 1:23:56 but I'm not sure I played that long  Or maybe I just forgot about time because I was having that much fun! Always great when every upgrade feels meaningful. Though not sure about that one manager following me into the bathroom... Let me have some privacy!
Love the pumping music and the cat theme! Nice looking city and whoa there's even fire coming out of the car when going super fast!
I tried to play with a mouse but it was quite difficult and after quite a few tries still only managed to get like 500 points. Though partially my fault because the music and the bonus countdown make me drive too fast  :boom: :red_car:
I used shift+right-click on the LD website to open the game frame in it's own tab which made it a bit better.
I had 210$ left in change, wish I didn't buy the car so soon :money_mouth:
I won! Congrats on submitting a compo entry!
WHO EVEN ARE YOU?
Hey this is pretty neat, it all worked for me and I bought a few upgrades. Cool idea and nicely done without any libraries!
Love the fast pace and precise movement! But still I was late... Maybe I should try again :-)
Crazy that you bought a domain for an LDJAM game! Or did you own it without using it??
This was nice! Very happy that there was no severe penalty on hitting the red goop so I could finish the game with ease. Also when I found out I could use the rocks to build a shield I felt smart. I wish it was a little bit easier to put the rocks into place but oh well, still very impressive for a compo entry!
Short and sweet, had a great time. Well done for making all levels have a unique hook!
Dang those evil milk trucks!! Loved the little details like seeing the tires under your truck when turning, nicely done!
Made it with no mistakes on my 3rd try! Applause on the complex trash pickup physics interaction, it actually worked!
I had fun figuring out that houses are the key :-) It was a bit sad to have it end with failure, but maybe that's a comment on our society :fearful:
Made it until 1027$! Overall fun and hectic, and once I got the hang of it I could deliver most orders. I kept it at 500 degrees though and managed the heat by opening the oven only, not sure that's how it's supposed to be but I felt smart :-)
Made 90$ but ended up destroying a ship right at the end because I tried to hurry up :-( Really well made game, rocking music! :guitar:
That was quite impressive with all that variation! Good job! Played it through and the only little complain I can come up with is that in the rainy area it was a bit hard to see my own mouse cursor. But other than that I'm quite blown away, there was even an intro movie! And an ending! Wow!
That's quite a game! Lot's of things to do and I was surprised that there was even a goal with an ending. Well done! I assume icons on the 1,2,3,4.. buttons was a planned thing? Would have made some understanding at the beginning a bit easier. Other than that it all works. I guess the house is a bit useless but I felt happy having one :-)
Got 138 pt in 95 s :-)
dango.png But I did mash the key or button :-)
breathe.png I liked the upgrades, they felt good! Didn't really understand the air mechanic all that well. Maybe a meter next to the character or some other indicator that things are bad would have been great? Either way, just moving and shooting was fun, and I like getting to an end :-)
Really fun idea fitting the theme, love it! It wasn't too hard so I could finish it which is always great :-) The mine sweeper felt a bit useless? Or maybe the anti-virus are just good enough so I didn't need them.
I love the variation of jobs, musicians, painters, counselors are a joy to watch among all the workers. Overall a very impressive submission
Finally beat it on my third try, trick was to keep hiring new squirrels during the battle :-) Always enjoy a good tower defense game, happy to find this one!
Got up to a score of 14530 , yay! snakesleuth.png
It's neat, I like that it lets me continue to clear stuff even while new things are dropping in from the top. Of course new things falling in and automatically clearing combos always feel great :-)
The timer and random tiles provides a good challenge, but sometimes it leads to cases where one is stuck (like in my screenshot). Without a timer it would maybe allow the player to make better choices for better combos, but it would be a different game then. Also I have found myself making similar compromises for game jam games because there often just isn't enough time to provide a more fleshed out balanced experience.
I'm curious of other peoples scores, is anyone able to clear level 10?
@honey-pony Thank you for the great insightful comment! As @henk pointed out, being able to clear the last level depends a bit on luck, but I don't think it's that much.
You have to come into the level with enough Tinies so the levels before matter a bit, too. All levels have the same number of enemies with the same strength, so the total number of eggs is always the same. The enemies do an area-of-effect attack so it depends a lot on the angle of where the Tinies attack from. Of course it always is important that as many Tinies as possible are engaging a single bug at the same time. I sometimes try to get the Tinies to walk in a longer line in front of an enemy before engaging it, leading to a broader attack where everyone is involved. It also sometimes can be good to split the army up around a small wall to attack from both front and back, but timing that is tricky.
I played one round just now and got into the third level with 25 Tinies (had 30 after picking up the 5 eggs). In that level 10 bugs spawn each giving 3 more eggs. After defeating 6 enemies I still had 27 Tinies, though many at low health and I was able to finish the level with 19 left. TinyzillaLevel3.png
Though I have to say this time I got a great level layout which made it easy to divide the enemies and engage them one-by-one. I have had layouts that made the level basically unbeatable because there were not many paths to escape. In hindsight it might have been better with fixed levels, or at least forcing the generation to guarantee more pathways.
Oh, and to everyone playing the game and giving me a rating, thank you so much!!
Amazing compo entry! Also I'm very impressed seeing the variety of combinations in the comments here people managed to beat the game. I thought the imps and item I got on my third or so run was the definite way to go, brawlers and the shield item. But turns out that this is just one of many.
Had fun with the game and then I saw the "tip" about right-clicking thus had some more fun, HA HA :fire: :fire: :fire: Amazing compo submission!

Great game, amazing weapon variation for a compo game. The automated weapons (machine gun and minigun) only seem to shoot while there is a new input event which is a bit weird, but just wiggling the mouse a bit mostly works. Movement and everything feels great and, like everyone said, the music is very fitting, got me pumped :-)
At first I had no idea what was going on but I got around and beat it twice. It's somewhat self explanatory. Had no problems with the web version. Also, always happy to find a game not using a big engine!
Planted 18 plants, watered them all, and then there were so many bugs it was quite creepy :scream_cat: I sold the bug infested plants, made 305 coins and lived happily ever after
Oh, I really liked that the bugs only are visible through the scope, nice detail!

Good minimap!
Really good game, wouldn't be as good if the music wasn't that spot on for it. Died in level 8, that ghost was strong :o I somehow felt that I was getting worse at keeping the beat as the levels progressed. When I died and restarted I was perfectly fine again until level 6. Maybe I should have downloaded the native build instead of the HTML5 version.
Short and sweet ♪
It's quite a challenge! A game over screen would have been nice, I have no idea how high my score was. It was really really good I think! j/k
Looks good, simple and fun, original idea, coo!
I played for quite a while and only saw the goal at the end. Only got a few >_< But this is pretty amazing. The moment you figure out you can beat up citizen until they have a number that matches to make them join your team is awesome! Really good entry, congrats!
Those health-bars are just getting bigger, huh? I finally lost (-: OrcsAttack.jpg
Turns out, just walking into the goal with the ball works every time! Why don't they do that at the World Cup?!?
The AI is just good/random enough that every goal needs to be approached a bit differently. And that time when you do one or two passes and then into the goal feels pretty rewarding! Also the part where just running after the player from the opposing team with the ball doesn't work is quite real. Well done!
Simple game, I enjoyed it. Made it to the congratulations screen (-: On my keyboard I couldn't hold the shoot button while also moving left/right and down at the same time...
I had to play it again after reading the comments >_< Bonus points for rolling your own tech! :gem:
@ViridianGames Go on, post the source! This reminds me of my first entry in LD26 when I was contemplating about just that. I ended up distributing the engine part as a binary .LIB file and just released the game source (the part that was written in 48 hours). Last year I released my game framework [ZillaLib](https://github.com/schellingb/ZillaLib) as open source and participating got much easier :-)
Thanks everyone for your comments!
@LuckyFeathers Thank you, too. Unfortunately the only people who signed up for our company internal game jam were programmers and designers. So in the end I had to chose if I should try making graphics or sound and I chose graphics. Maybe we get some sound people to sign up next time (-:
That's a good idea about the waiting for input. A countdown would work, too, I think. The spawn logic at least checks for collisions and doesn't spawn you into something. Would have been great if that check checked for a wider area.
I wish this game was a bit more tuned for fun. As it is I found myself frustrated a bit by the slow progression. A minimap would help with the races. I don't think this game has to go to the trash can, though. It's a good idea, it's interesting and if the driving were just a bit more fun (damn those collisions that make you lose races!) it would be quite a great entry!
I ended up leaving it running for a year (in-game time) and then had accumulated enough money to buy some upgrades which made it more tolerable (-:
It's... it's beautiful! Amazingly complete game, especially for compo! Good job, well done! This game totally deserves more ratings. Really no complains here. Ah, the iron door thing didn't disappear after throwing fireballs at it. But I was able to walk through.
Multijumpcheat is the best!
"Freaking amazing! Excelent work, wanna check ours too??"
... This actually looks really good and I bet you'd get enough ratings even without spamming. - https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/fishemup - https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/bad-minton - https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/life-as-a-lie - https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/ryu
Holy moly stressful game! I managed to get 404. Music adds even more pressure
Just noticed the FPS counter in the lower left, lets see if I can get it below 60 (-:
I finished it and met the :alien:
That last level is maybe a tad too long? Nevertheless, it's impressive how well it actually works. Having the hop/leap variants of the jump is crucial and it's interesting how having these variation is also what causes the moveset to be just too much to remember everything (at least for me). Near the end there were a few times I thought I remembered it but then messed up, only to realize I should have checked the movelist one more time. Having finished it I'm glad I made it through it, great compo entry, congrats!
Did it! Nice game!! Impressive compo submission for sure!
deadwindow.jpg
A neat variation on the tower defense genre. It actually made me try multiple times to get all the colored towers involved not for damage but to get all the instruments playing
Awesome compo entry! Image1.jpg
That's a neat mechanic I did not realize with the easy level. Having to limit the use of the signal and remember some of the layout is a nice addition. I don't know how many more levels I would clear (if there were more) but I enjoyed what was there. Also good idea to having a trail behind your character while moving, it really helps navigating in the dark.
I think this is one of the best “knob tune” games I’ve played so far, with the variations of effects and multiple levels and everything!
Very nice! At first it wasn't immediately clear that with each click it spreads out one less far so at first I solved the first few levels with trial and error. But on my second play through it all made sense and I cleared all levels in one go :-)
