Very nice game! Last level is probably too easy, it's beatable using just the stone.
Sometimes the enemies spawned inside me or nearly inside me which means they were impossible to evade. Otherwise it is a nice little game.
Should be a bit more polished. After gathering a few upgrades I blast the enemies away, but the ships from the side always kill me. It feels like it's based on luck, not skill.
Gets repetitive pretty quickly. I like the atmosphere of the game, it fits. Was pretty laggy when the swarm was there, though.
Audio worked for me (Firefox on Linux). The collision is a bit weird - if I hit a platform from the side, I can cheat my way up. All in all, a simple, yet decent game.
Very simple game concept. Seems like tower spam is a viable strategy. Game got really laggy after a while.
Minor issue: Before placing a wall or tower, the object-to-be-placed is a real object in the world and you can push the attackers with it. It even loses some life. Is this intentional?
Very nice game, I played till the "end" (getting diamonds, bought all the upgrades). Two little things I noticed, though:
- I found it a bit hard to distinguish iron pickaxes and steel pickaxes. - When a building is fully upgraded, you cannot destroy it anymore. Just confirmed at least for lumbermills and coal burners. - I can buy more than one market place and research facility, but that serves no purposes. Maybe restrict it to one of each? Or provide advantages for having more.
Still had a lot of fun with it, 5/5.
I did not expect the AI to be so hard, but I managed to beat it. Does it know the level beforehand? Sometimes, the moves were suspicious.
Very nice, although I had some trouble creating the water breathing potion - I had the plastic bags in my inventory, but could not click them into the book. It _sometimes_ worked, though. Apart from that, a pretty good game.
The handling of user controls is bit lacking, but the mood and atmosphere let the game really shine. It creates a sense of mystery, which I like.
This was fun. :-)
Nice game. At one point there was a little "Death trap" - I did not see the moving platforms I had to jump on and fell into a "room" with no exit, spikes on the right and platforms flying above me. It killed me. Don't know wether that's intentional.
Also, the first boss (as seen in the image in the description) made the game superlaggy.
Still very good and fun overall.
I don't wether this is due to the fullscreen mode, but some of the enemies could be shot from a distance while they did not fire back. It was pretty easy to get to the boss without losing any health (although I lost some health *there*). Overall, a nice little game.
Very, very nice. Also "very deep" indeed, genius. ;-)
Beat the game on the first try, with two hearts left. I liked the varying enemies, especially the big ones which seemed to shield the firing tentacles, so I had to time eating the burgers (as they slowed me down).
Sleeping 17 hours without a bathroom break thanks to me, the sandman. I'm pretty sure that didn't go too well.
Most of the level were pretty easy, although I got stuck once or twice. You should definitely make a post-compo version with a few more levels.
Didn't read the description and also fell out of the world when I walked left too far. I guess that matches the theme?
One of the best games so far. Smooth controls, very nice pixelart graphics. In one of the levels with the (non-hunting) ghosts I had to wait at a spot for while because the ghosts blocked the way, I couldn't really do anything. But that's like one grey spot in a big field of beautiful flowers.
> $ look at inscriptions > (...) There are more inscriptions to look at. > $ look at more inscriptions > You can't see any such thing. The game lied to me. :'-(
Nice entry, although a little bit on the short side.
Wow, just wow. Great game.
Great, I am a disappointment.
I somehow was pretty bad at this, probably need more practice. Good game though.
The music is a bit repetitive, but it catches the mood pretty good. Overall, a decent game.
This is great! I found both endings (well, you mentioned them in your description).
After diving very deep (found the octoboi!) the ocean and floor just seem to end? Overall, nice game.
Game needs a bit polishing. First level was too long for me, I just clicked on the boxes when they appeared, then waited for the next boxes. But all in all, very promising concept.
Really great game. Games with a concept like this are rare, good work!
Great game, found all the endings. Well, two (of two). One little caveat: The transitions seem to be too slow and also include the world itself, not only the graphics. Going straight north almost got me stuck in the well.
Game idea is great and graphics and sounds are very nice. I hated the shooting timer, though.
I like the Mobius strip topology idea very much, great idea!
Controls were pretty strange. I'm sure, I exploited glitches in some of the levels to circumvent the obstacles. But I don't know for sure.
I like squirrels as well and discovered some things. Maybe I am not "anyone"?
Controls are a bit annoying, because you cannot turn to an object if you are already directly besides it, forcing you to move away, then back, wasting precious seconds.
Also, the passcode is unreadable, preventing me from progressing further: ld47_imminent-danger_passcode-obstructed.png
Does not load for me, either. :-(
On a side note, I could not see a link to the source code, neither here nor on itch.io. Did you forget to include it?
The idea is great and I also like the puzzles, but the controls are *insanely* bad. At first I didn't get past the second level, but after reading the comments here I gave it another chance and was able to beat a few more levels (but not the game). It's very frustrating if you know how to beat a level in theory, but can't due to the fact that the square is as responsive to your commands as a supertanker full of heavy oil, except for wall jump, which makes it even more difficult.
A truly unique idea, great!
Awesome visuals and game, but really needs the option to skip the intro, maybe only after the first try.
I thought I was the only one with the weird controls, but I wasn't. Or maybe it adds to the difficulty. :-D
At first, it was very stressful, because I had to read the descriptions fast, but after understanding the mini games, they were fun, even a little bit too easy. Great game!
Despite similary looks, Jetty is now more popular than I have ever been. The last few percent are tough, I scratched 90% multiple times before reaching it.
Frantically clicking and moving the mouse across the upper part of the game screen worked well to defeat nearly all the enemies, I don't know wether that is how it is supposed to play. Still liked the game though.
Didn't like the aim mechanic, but the game is good and there was nice variation in the enemy types.
Seems bugged for me. There are three platforms slowly descending downwards through the ground, when I am fast and I jump on the top one, I can (barely) see a fourth one, but it is too high to reach. After the three platforms left the screen, I was stuck at the ground.
I was writing this comment, but switched back to the game just to see a few platforms going up into the sky, but I was not fast enough to get on one of them. Finally, the lava got me.
Happened in both Chrome and Firefox, so probably not a browser issue.
Great game so far! I tried to make a house, including (non-functional) chimney, roof and a balcony: ld45-lime-house.png
To celebrate, I made this statue: ld45-lime-statue.png
Similar bug as @flying-dog-fish here: After a single step, screen begins to shake and never ends. And by shake I mean between 1/4 and 1/2 of the in-game screen size. In one frame the character is at the left of the screen, in the next frame on the right.
First time I played the engine did not wait for me directly under my spaceship, but a bit to the right... unreachable. After restarting the level, I could gather it and play. :-)
Controlling the ship was insanely difficult, but possible. The wave of balls in the last level was fun.
Does the fire burn out after some time? First time I could not find the fire at the starting place I thought I just went into the wrong direction, but the second time I was pretty sure it should have been there.
I had no problems picking up berries, stones or sticks, but could not figure out how to use the pickaxe after putting it into my hand (with 'E').
Simple, but beautiful: scrawl_a_draw.png
Are game speed and running speed somewhat disrelated? I just tried three times to jump over that first lava lake, but it was impossible. Switched from fullscreen mode to "normal" mode and did it easily? Effect shows in both Firefox 66.0.3 and Chrome 65.0.3325.181 on Debian Linux.
After dying the enemies still attack me, I am currently at -170 life. :-D
Had to restart the science level several times before I managed to kill all humans (minus one) with a lucky first shot. The "hard" levels were rather easy, due to an seemingly infinte amount of power (bar filled faster than my fist decended back to the heavens).
All in all, a great idea and a very fun game. :)
A really original game idea, great!
Great game. I, too, fell victim to the spike's hitbox.
The game plays, but I can't see the people, although I can click them (and they move, I finished the first two levels half blind). Firefox 63.0.3 on Linux. :-(
Kinda fun, although I could not finish the second level. Controls are like guiding an epileptic skater with Parkinson's Disease over ice.
The game itself is great.
Sadly, my Browser (FF 46 on Debian Linux) froze several times for a half a minute or so before accepting its fate. I could only force-close it. :'-(
Great game!
Game was unplayable slow for me. After one minute, controls were getting through after an abysmal amount of time (10 seconds or so).
It looked so good. :'-(
Using the sword was insta-death for me (when enemies were around), the bow worked much better. Maybe instead of losing the game when you run into one of the blocks, you should only lose a life?
Nice take on the theme and the game is addicting. As others already pointed out, there could be more feedback, like little effects when a row vanishes and is replaced by random shapes.
Simple, but still fun. Could have had a bit more sound.
Great game, especially after memorizing the shapeshifting combos.
Can't rate the audio, is this intentionally? I liked both music and effects.
Seemed pretty easy. Is it even possible to lose (i.e. get stuck)?
Finally victorious on turn 54. Controls are very sluggish, because every action causes a page reload. Also, I do not know how to cancel an action. If I accidentally click the wrong hexagon how do I avoid being forced to attack with it?
Then there's the incomprehensible enemies. I get it, they don't attack in winter, but I could not see a pattern of actions during the other season. Is there even one?
This game seriously needs more explanations.
That was incredibly fun and the art style is really unique.
Had a good laugh, funny game.
Great game! So simple, still so good.
As several others, I bypassed half of the game by flying over it as a ghost. Also, the transition animation was too long and when I found the fountain, I could trigger its winning message (and transition) again, although I was already human. Besides that, very nice game!
I'm a big fan of Conway's game of *life*, so this (game of *death*) is a nice variation. Well done.
I do not like the occasional shapeshifting, the game is fast, but the transitions slow it down a lot.
Difficult, but very interesting.
Pretty cool.
Very funny! Creative interpretation of the theme.
How do I solve the first level to feature the eagle totem? I can't place totems in the air and neither that or the frog totem let the little ones reach the other platform.
Game felt a bit slow. Graphics are very cute and the gameplay itself is nice.
What was impressive. After getting the controls, it is a very fine game.
Sadly, I bugged into a wall. But the game is great and a loot of fun. Only thing is, when activating a button, I cannot move for a short period of time, that was annoying.
Haha, "killed by Rhino as a bear". :-D Great game!
Very nice. :-)
Success is too random in my eyes. On my first attempt I got only a few green and blue arrows and was quickly killed. On my fourth game or so I got 9 sides, a bunch of green power-ups (they make you shoot faster, right?) and was nearly permanent on yellow. I hat to deliberately kill myself or I would have been playing forever, without much skill, just shooting around and gathering upgrades.
Seems like we both had the same idea... :-D
That took a while, but it was fun. Makes me want to create an adventure game myself!
Hmmmm, I'm stuck. My current set of resources does allow neither upgrading nor gathering more, but I can't find anything I could gather anymore (e.g. there are rock and trees, but I already have the maximum amount of wood and stone).
Moving in one direction shows me the same resource patterns again and again, so I guess the landscape is finite and wraps around?
Super difficult, but the ruleset is like nothing I have seen before. Nice puzzle idea.
The game is fun, I grasped it quickly. One thing bothered me: I have a German keyboard layout, in comparison to a US one Z and Y changed their places, this messed up the controls for me pretty bad. There is even an article here on Ludum Dare (buried deep in thousands of others) about that exact topic.
Woah, gets stressful fast. I like it.
The concept is simple, yet innovative and fun.
Easy to understand, hard to master. But maybe it's my memory (or lack thereof).
Wow, I'm impressed. Very fun game indeed, and the controls were (at least to me) intuitively understandable.
But why is helium the goal? Squeeze all the energy out of those hydrogen atoms, up to iron! ;-)
Cool concept, very good implementation!
Looks very promising. As someone already mentioned, a more obvious way to see where you stand exactly would be nice.
The owl exploit worked for me, too.
Also, at first I did not heal because I assumed the healing to be automatically, which would make sense (there is no reason not to heal when in druid mode).
Otherwise, pretty nice.
It's like Diablo, without all the bullshit. Straight leveling. ;-)
The sounds are awesome and the game is fun.
Is it just me or is that game insanely hard? Why does the balloon try to ascend during the late heavy bombardement the Earth once went through?
Still pretty fun, though.
This is one of the most clever interpretations of the theme I have seen so far, great! ;-)
Awesome, just wow! This game is very addictive.
I recognized the WarCraft-inspired music before I read it in your description. :-)
That was surprisingly funny, but am I supposed to jump off the screen to the left, when still at the surface, then fall beyond everything into oblivion?
I don't know why, but I always end up in the ladies' bathroom. :-D

How do I get rid of that one? Getting fuel required a green crate and I did not get a single green crate initially. Tried to empty out the bottom depot, but I can't neither push nor pull that one. Ordering didn't work.
[edit] Okay, I can turn it. Was too late, though.

Seems interesting, would be nice to see this polished into a more complex game. Currently a few things are missing, in my opinion:
- There's no way to see which buildings are occupied with workers and which aren't. - While it's possible to take workers off a building, I did not see the need. With one exception: If there's no more space left on the map, you don't need wood anymore. - An overview of how many resources are produced/consumed (and the net result per time). I can see the numbers go up or down, but with this kind of game it would be nice to have that information.
Overall I had fun with this game and I see the potential. Don't abandon this!

Nooo, Cthulhu got me. Nicely done. I like how the graphics look good despite feeling like programmer art. Difficulty was a bit off for me, the 3rd level was easier than the first two, for example. At least that's I experienced it.
Greasy Justice by kasmilus 2023-10-05T16:20:08Z ♥ 1
I'm playing with Firefox on Linux. After the tutorial it seems like most of my clicks aren't recognized. I had to click the wave button several times, same with moving the enemies. This makes the game very hard to play.

Sometimes I feel like it's unavoidable to collide with a ship that just popped into your flight path, which makes some situations feel unfair. Still a nice and polished game.

Very nice concept & game, although it seems like some task are impossible, like I need > 4 blood rooms, exactly 5 household tiles, but there are only 5 tiles in total. Also the list of restrictions can get so long that it overflows to the bottom.

Do the download sizes actually matter for the storage they occupy? I mean, an MB is 1000 times the size of a KB, and a GB is 1000 times the size of an MB.
Also the game feels a bit wonky. Sometimes I have to wait, then suddenly windows are sprawling. I immediately lost despite having most of my happiness and my storage free.
