This is fantastic for a 48-hour effort. Sticking with the same basic background for each floor seems like a really good move: it fits the theme, and looks as though it probably let you focus your attention on putting together the actual game rather than needing a whole lot of unique assets.
I ended up stuck on a black screen after trying to take the flash drive up to Level 0. Not sure that's supposed to happen, but the story felt fairly complete at that point anyway. I also got a message saying "Cannot consume item - not enough in player inventory" after using the keycard (which was properly removed from the inventory). I also noticed that inspecting the terminal that takes the keycard, it says "I should try my luck elsewhere" even though that is actually the way forward (and that inspecting a body after looting it later on gives the same message as inspecting a locker). Really minor stuff, though: I think this is my favourite game from Ludum Dare so far!
The graphics are really very successful! The game is really very well done.
Nice work! I liked the graphics and sound effects.
Loved the graphics! Very good entry
same here, got a black screen tryinf to go level 0 :(
Nice entry tho
Graphics is great. Mechanics also make me feel like in submarine :) but i thing UI need to be refined
Great job, i liked sound effects!
Impressive amount of stuff added! Felt very atmospheric. Would have liked volume settings as it was too loud on headphones especially as some of the audio was clipping and popping.
The UI could do with more polish, I'm not sure how I was doing it but the guy kept walking away as I was trying to click on something. The chat box could do with being more central and prominent, I kept on trying to click or move only to see there was still a little bit of text left to read freezing me in place
Good job, i like it artwork style, really cool
Impressive! Really impressive. The atmosphere of this game looks stunning and the ArtStyle is just wow. Also love the ArtStyle, look really polish. Congrats
There are some bugs I've encountered, but the job is spectacular for this jam! Thank you for the game!
Great mood and atmosphere. I was actually quite hooked on the narrative. Sadly I couldn't reach the ending :(
I liked absolutely everything about this game. If you ever get to release it you gotta tag me!
Great work! I really enjoyed the intriguing story, it kept me playing. :book: The sound effects were great and the music really added to the atmosphere. The graphics was well designed, perfect for this point and click adventure style.
I only missed a way to progress the dialog other than to click on the dialogue window. And once I accidentally exited the game pressing ESC. It might be a good idea to add a warning there. I hope you can fix the ending bug, I was really interested to see how the story turns out.
Looks great and it's very impressive that you got so much done in the limited time, great job! I am however not that experienced in these types of games and the UI was a bit confusing, so it made it a bit frustrating.
Pretty impressive!
I love the atmosphere, it's dark, it feels almost claustrophobic! With the breathing sounds in the background! The art is great (although I think there's a hole in Stevie's sprite :d)
Not too found on the way to move around though, but I guess that's more of a personal preference than anything
Just a bit sad about the ending bug, I hope this will be fixed! :D
Very good game, I grew up with graphic adventure games so it was very good to see one as a entry, overall it was a very good game! good job!
Wow it's great ! The sound design of this game is fantastic ! You did a wonderful job on the atmosphere, thanks to the graphics ! It was hard at the beginning to understand I had to move with the right mouse button but after I understood it was really great ! Good job, I had a great time !
Couldn't click on anything or get WASD / arrow keys to do anything. Might be a bug in Unity WebGL? Also I run my browser small, so the UI was scaled down and partially cropped off.
Didn't end up rating it
@reactor-scram before you can start moving you need to click through the narrative (lower right corner). We realized that the area for clicking away the story was really small, and made it much larger in the post-jam version, but that has been an issue for some! Sorry for the inconvenience!
not my kind of game but I really enjoyed the game, the graphic and audio is on point and I loved the conversation between Max and steve. Great work
Fantastic game you've made in just 72 hours, it's so polished! Also lovely dialoge and worldbuilding, great job!
This is probably starting to sound like a broken record, but I liked the game a whole bunch two! The narrative is absolutely stellar and the intense mood that builds to the conclusions is great. The ambiance, the sound effects and the mood that is in the art assets as you decent into the truth is absolutely fantastic. And I love how it hints at a bigger world out there. With conflict, history and a compelling future. What. a. banger.
I have only two nit pics. The first are the bugs, and the fact that the game starts up weird on WebGL (I have to go full screen and back again in order to see things). The second is that the UI feels very unresponsive to me.
The theme and the mechanic with the static/radio is also fantastically executed. 5/5 stars.
PS: If the writers on your team are looking for a project, hit me up. We may be looking for one after our demo. I can't promise that I'll come through though. Since that'll depend on the reception of the demo.
Very nice point and click, I loved it :D
Very strong mood with art, ambiant sounds and narration, everything works well together and is coherent so great job on this :o
And all this is very well linked to the theme so big bravo to you, very well executed, you nailed this o/
Cool game! I really like the level of detail in the backgrounds :) All visuals are amazing (except the hole in Stevie. That's just odd.) Sound effects and atmosphere are also great, albeit some sound effects felt a bit too loud on my end. The story was intriguing and the mood was great all around. Really good job, I'm super impressed! :)
Very competent entry, I loved the atmosphere and the level of details in the graphics. Sound design is amazing!
The story is very interesting, we can easily identify the theme. I really apreciate the visuals in the background and the lights who creates a great atmosphere who feats perfectly with the sounds effects.
Very cool atmosphere, bit spooky too! Also nice story, it made me go on to find out more. Would have liked to know what happens when going up again - but making up the ending for myself works too :) Good job!
This gem of a game could be featured on the Steam store, it looks THAT polished and complete. The art style, story and sound effects are all impressive. The only thing holding the game back from perfection are a small number of bugs.
The handling of user controls is bit lacking, but the mood and atmosphere let the game really shine. It creates a sense of mystery, which I like.
A very atmospheric game, you built tension and did a good job of building the world. I found the controls and UI a little clunky, and I had a black screen upon heading back up at the end of the game, but apart from that I can't fault it. Great narrative game which fits the theme perfectly.
Ah man, I can't believe the ending was cut off!
Otherwise really solid entry, excellent art, mood and storytelling!
There were some issues that I saw: Struggled to click on the locker with the flashdrive in, the circle sort of disappeared without triggering, but eventually it worked. Got a weird inventory message when I used the key card (cannot be consumed there is no space in inventory). Could not use oxygen tanks that was in the last slot.
Great game! Very well polished (except for the ending) and a nice atmosphere with the sounds effects and art. Even though I'm normally not that much into story driven games, I made it all the way through and got to the ending, really sad that it cut out, but still a great experience.
Excellent entry well done, really engaging story and beautifully made. Like others I encountered the problem with the black screen after leaving with the flash drive and with the popup about full inventory when I used the keycard, but apart from these minor bugs and a few quality of life improvements that could be made this is a truly magnificent game for a jam. Amazing job!
Frankly speaking It's not enough user-friendly to solve even the first puzzle. But I like it and I hope that it will be polished:) Nice graphics:)
As promise, I finally had time to play your game on stream :) Here is a link to the correct place in the video: https://www.youtube.be/watch?v=Sx1MQ445u7k&t=10822s
Unfortunately I downloaded the windows version and it seems that it doesn't contain tutorial. I played the webgl version later and managed to go much further by taking my time and clicking everywhere.
This game has great potential, I can see the greatness in the graphics, design, story line but the user experience is really hurting it. A few changes could make it much more user friendly:
(those are just suggestion, you may find better solutions)
- Not blocking the click on the bottom right corner of the screen to go futher in the story. Allow the user to click anywhere to proceed. - Not opening a drop-down menu when the player click on a world item that only has one interaction, just do that interaction. - Some text say sometime akind: "ok time go to the elevator" but another call on the walkies talkie is require before the elevator works. Ironing out false clue like this one could remove a lot of frustrations.
Sorry I didn't manage to go far in your game during the stream, I see the potential in it, but unfortunatly the ui beat me.
There are some glitches, and the game feels slow-paced at times, but otherwise great entry!
Beautiful. So cool. A dialogue based game is a really neat idea, and so well executed. Simultaneously unsettling and comedic. The atmosphere created by your sound design is so immersive. The background is gorgeously drawn and shaded. The clicking in the bottom right feels a little clunky sometimes, I wish I could click anywhere as opposed to there specifically, I find myself not realizing that there's still some text I have to dismiss before I can resume moving. That's honestly my only criticism. Phenomenal stuff.
