LD20 — It's Dangerous to Go Alone! Take This!

It's dangerous to go alone, take these shiny things! by NeiloGD 2011-05-04T20:34:00

Great Idea having the player think about the order, they pick up the keys. Well designed levels, too. Really great work

>Start >Fight >Run by bentosmile 2011-05-06T22:34:00

Great game, great story, and the "not refined sketches" for the story ark awake makes it feel even better, it creates feeling of the awake world being all dreamy and the dreams being more real. That's cool

Legend Of The Sord by snowyowl 2011-05-06T22:14:00

so THAT'S where the old guy comes from (love the "I can't help you"-ending)

Jump Climb Die by Cybs 2011-05-03T20:32:00

I love this game! It reminds me a lot of iwbtg. It's a pity it doesn't git in the theme I played each single level, took me 288 deaths on the last but one. Very cool!

Jump Climb Die by Cybs 2011-05-03T20:36:00

I love this game. Reminds me a lot of iwbtg. It's a pity it doesn't fit in the theme. Enjoyed every single level, not even taking 288deaths on the last but one made me give up!

Fear of the Dark by Rialgar 2011-05-03T11:19:00

Alan Lynn: that is how it is supposed to be, you need all 4 to banish ghosts

Sprung by shiftingParadigms 2011-05-03T19:10:00

somehow didn't work well, was all fuzzy and I was never shure if a jump was triggered or not

Let Me Save You! Your Faithful Companion by Nyaa 2011-05-06T21:40:00

Very funnny, not at all only a "OMG BOOBIES"-thing, very funny dialog, great visuals, great music, great multivisual textadventure

SINGLEHANDEDLY by Elpizo 2011-05-03T17:05:00

Great game, though too hard for me, wen fighting the end(?) boss, I accidently startet a new game and my save was lost, didn't have the patience to start again. Great retro graphics and sound. definately reminds me of metroid and megamen. Will probably try again later.

LD20: Alone by Superpig 2011-05-14T13:24:00

ok, I actually found the lake (juyt followed the brown path), but it's not more than walking around and getting followed by these non-harmfull bombs. Environment is quite nice, but somehow empty.

Retrace by hulahulahest 2011-05-03T17:25:00

Well done, having only one ghost and having to help him is quite refreshing compared to those "spawn ghosts till the game crashes"-games. Nice graphics style.

Legend of Parasite by Draknek 2011-05-03T18:53:00

Very nive Idea, could imagine lots of innovative riddles with it, please expand it in the future, I'd really like to see more of this

ZombieRunner...Ware by TellusE 2011-05-03T17:54:00

*sings* (to indiana jones)
kill a zombie...
take a spear...
take a babie...
ride a sheep and die!

funny game for short periods of boredom, nothing exciting though.

how ever I still hunger for brraaaiiiins

LD21 — Escape

Qua-tzar by zazery 2011-08-23T18:05:00

Tried it with a friend, found severall bugs:
whe a TZAR steps on a field, a BIT just left, it still captures the BIT (sometimes).
BITs and TZAR can travel through each other at a border between two fields.

Interesting concept, though. Some thoughts for improvement:

I would probably have given each player 4 or 5 points and limited the movement of each token.

You should consider to forbid DOMs to step on the field right in front of the door instead of turning collision off, it looks like BITs just vanish, but they are still there.

A network feature would really improve it, because you wouldn't have too look away and players could plan they're turns simultaneously.

Planet of Plants by Rialgar 2011-08-29T14:46:00

'Impressum' is a nasty thing in German law, just ignore it

CRASH! by tmathmeyer 2011-08-23T19:01:00

runs, but I don't get it, just ran around digging holes getting exceptions

Light Maze by Lia-Sae 2011-08-23T15:13:00

Nice game, just a few remarks:
As said, difficulty raises too slow, but later levels get quite interesting.
Distinguishing between walls and bottom is quite difficult in some situations, maybe making the bottom a bit (more) darker would help.

LD22 — Alone

Last breath by deepnight 2011-12-20T08:53:00

Awesome, great transmission of the mood. And although you don't like it, I think the music fits great, it's a contradiction, just like the (great) ending.
(And to me it's not too hard, I think it's just hard enough)

LD23 — Tiny World

pixTown by Mysterarts 2012-04-24T20:16:00

Feels really smooth, nice concept, nice opening

An automatic level-transition and maybe larger oens later on would improve it a lot, maybe consider forming a larger Image out of the single ones

Would be really nice to see more of it

Mr Cool by Rialgar 2012-04-28T22:32:00

Well, there is a glitch when the game lags, which tends to happen under firefox or with many tabs open in generall

LD24 — Evolution

Evolution Strategy (Web) by Kickerua 2012-08-28T16:06:00

very nice entry, I like the graphics. Keeping the upgrades after finishing a level would have been great, so you start of better in the next. Maybe do the "choose cell type" thing as post compo?

Clever Blocks by Cthulhu 2012-09-02T18:25:00

Nice Twist on "Eat everything smaller then yourself"

Upgrade by Fenmar 2012-08-28T15:27:00

Well done, one thing to level design: as I tried to collect every... thing I could see, I never saw the fire wall problem, would have been nice to make the player pass it before beeing able to shut it down.

Evo Towerwars by Rialgar 2012-08-28T16:41:00

imef: might you tell me what browser you are using?
kato9: well, yes, but then it is slower or has less range.

Evo Towerwars by Rialgar 2012-08-28T19:56:00

Angelbait: would you might telling me, which browser you used?

A Pixel Evolution by Peax 2012-08-28T17:06:00

You made not ONE game, but THREE of them, impressive.
I really enjoyed it, allthough it did not quite end...
I think I found a bug in the last level, when some reach the bottom and the score and weapon reset, thtey get stronger and stronger and if you loose lets say 5 or 6 times unbeatable.

Biods by daydalus 2012-08-28T15:40:00

Please do NOT make games that need to be installed for LD, I do not want to have hundreds of "play once for some minutes" games installed nor have to uninstall every one manually after playing it. (nothing against the game itself)

Spawning Creatures, Evolution of Creatures and Creatures Mayhem by Dracir 2012-08-30T14:10:00

really nice game, could use some polish, but really nice
I did not quite get what all the values meant, e.g. AS

500 years by imef 2012-08-28T16:39:00

woman vote comes after comunism, I don't know why, but to me, this is a comedy game.
My braindump of ideas for improvements:
More feedback on what is happening, maybe inducing suggestions to people as an interaction technique. Impact of the events to the setting. E.g.: Inventing the wheel should make people faster. Make the tribes expand and enlarge the map.

LD25 — You are the Villain

You Are The Ghost Beta by boxerbomb 2012-12-19T16:38:00

Nice concept, has potential to good fun.
It get's quite annoying, when pacman just runs over a large pill over and over and stays in the "I'll eat you" mode for a long time.

End Boss by Ditto 2012-12-27T00:30:00

Great Game, could not stop trying till I won. I especially like how you need to protect the inner parts of your ship, because loosing them means loosing everything attached to them, too.
To my mind, the boss could use a little more color, though.

Interfection by spx 2013-01-02T14:13:00

great idea, but very difficult to play.

the difference between people and beacons is very small, maybe make beacons circles, or a different color.

I had no idea which range of mood is the "uncertain" one, so I could not aim for it well, maybe mark the optimum with a line in the graphic.

Just a story idea: let the "evil beacons" be propaganda speakers - "make people follow your evil scheme but don't become to obvious"

Crobal and friends by Gaeel 2013-01-02T13:59:00

ok, runs, I can walk around and stomp things down, which is great, but is there any target?

The Fall of the Shapes Father by WiseGAMER 2012-12-19T15:03:00

once I found out keeping A pushed the whole time solves the "when to slash" problem, it kept me going to the end. The story was quite interesting, but then end was a bit anticlimating, I would have liked a boss fight there.

Victor Grozny by DustyStylus 2012-12-17T17:22:00

Great game, I personaly think the knob-controlls add to the atmosphere, allthough it seemed to me as if they only responded to up and down movement.
Making the knobs stop at min/max value would have helped to recognize the end of the frequency/descrambler spectrum.

Escape of the Blob Monster by pl0xz0rz 2012-12-27T01:18:00

ok, I get what you tried to achieve here and like the direction its going, what I would change though:
1. Fix the getting stuck somewhere thing, it makes players quit.
2. Give the player a sense of a target, e.g. showing the remaining number of fairies or how many there are in total
3. more colors, add some fill, let boxes be paintend in front, so the blob vanishes when colliding
4. I personaly do not like atonal music, but that's just me
5. Gravity and movement speed should correlate somehow, so either increase gravity or decrease movement spead, or let the player see a reason for the difference (being in space, having glide-wings, something like that)

A small village by EdoMiyamoto 2012-12-19T16:49:00

Nice idea, I like how everyone has something to say. The game itself is very easy, as soon as you find out where to go. As was allready said: capturing the mouse, more story, more challenge would make it a great LD game.

Incredibly awesome bomb terror by Granor 2012-12-19T17:21:00

not bad, allthough I almost got epilepsy. Some recomendations:
1. the result of "look at room" could be present upon entering a new room, so I don't have to do this in each room
2. the list of possible actions was nice, but should be present all the time
3. make some actions (esp. "look at"), that do not help in the story, but are funny. "look at goat" has a lot of unused potential :P
4. no PINK

Mortal Fear by TDRGames 2012-12-27T01:36:00

Great, I like this one very much, some little suggetions for further greatness:

1. I could not really see the interface, because it left my screen when I scrolled.
2. create a minimap with my vampires highlighted.
3. more contrast, at least to the icons/badges.
4. add a daytime display
5. introduce some easy scrolling, like click+drag or moving the mouse to the edges of the screen
6. Improve the AI, the other clans just got themselfes killed by the police
7. introduce some micro-management assistance, like simple AI or group actions
8. make it more clear what to do at day, I had a hard time figuring out those "save-tiles" thats just beacause its so great I cannot stop thinking about it XD

Hm, quite a lot suggestions... but

Die Block by patricklorio 2012-12-27T01:03:00

Very nice concept, but lacks in the realization.
1. does not work in FF for me, shift+click does nothing (used chrome instead)
2. mouseup is sometimes not detected, which gets very annoying
3. why the heck do I loose, if two moving blocks of different colors meet?
4. at least tell the player the boxes represent opposing factions that are going to kill each other, imagination will do the rest
5. show the player, how many blocks he has picked up (e.g a little number in corner)
6. solve the case of placing a block, where a moving one is, currently it just hides the moving one, which can lead to exploits (wanted? - say so ingame)

White Wizard Tower For Sale by GJ 2013-01-02T12:58:00

A lot has allready been said, just one additon from my side:
a kind of skill tree would be nice, like starting with a simple left->mid fireball and making it more powerfull the more orbs of the figure I actually hit

Kill Kong by shaneshanekavanagh 2012-12-19T17:31:00

great entry, congratulations. Kong not turning around makes for a good "attack from behind" strategy, not sure if this is wanted:P

Elfie by Pixelboy_85 2012-12-19T15:07:00

very much enjeyed this little elf-slaughter :P
A score counter would have been very nice

Red Legion by DeathBySnail 2012-12-19T17:00:00

Nice twist, really enjoyed this one.

PedoSim by Fenmar 2012-12-17T14:51:00

Darkest of humors, but funny nonetheless

Boxy Computer Virus by Rialgar 2012-12-17T15:01:00

@DustyStylus: WebGL gets totaly easy with the brilliant Three.js library

LeVillian by Infin8 2013-01-02T13:48:00

Great one, some comments:

I hate the unkillable hero, he is just annoying and I ended up making him stuck in pathfinding, maybe make him respawn at a certain location instead of beeing unkillable

When I summoned units, old ones vanished, sometines the ones that where stationed to keep a village, that was very annoying, as I had to run back and recapture them

When the hero (or anyone else) approached a captured village, my close combatants left it and fought, I would have liked at least one per village to stay there instead

Feed the Towers by FinalMirage 2012-12-19T15:26:00

Nice concept, balancing is difficult. I have some ideas for improvements (not all are new):
1.: make enemies towers get better with each kill, so spamming will only make them stronger and stronger.
2.: make my creeps attack towers and let me get money for damaged / destroyed towers, so strong creeps can get me money in other ways then income
3.: make towers become stronger with time / introduce a time limit, so just sitting around and aggregating money for a long time does not pay off
4.: let me level up my creeps, so they get stronger/faster without becoming much more expensive, but let the ugrade itself be expensive.
5.: limit the maximum amount of money one can has at a time (maybe make this upgradeable, too)

Evil Chopper by Per 2012-12-19T14:53:00

nice game, really enjoyed it
just so you know: one time I lost level 3 and the player model was still there when I reached the same spot again

The Thief by delpes 2012-12-19T16:15:00

Nice game, very entertaining, some recomendations:
1. give the player some hint about how far away the car is, like a progress bar or just a percentage display
2. use noise filtering when recording sounds near to your computer, the noise of your fan is a bit annoying (audacity can do this)

LD26 — Minimalism

The particle swarm by dick_claus 2013-04-29T20:00:00

Interesting concept, but maybe a slower learning curve would be nice. Also I seem to need to place every corner pixel perfect, which can get quite annoying ( played until level 7, looked at the rest though, but level 7 killed my mood ). I like the music.

Abstract by PTSnoop 2013-05-01T17:10:00

Awesome, let me choose my colors is the only thing I could imagine for improvement.

Lightrail by Geoege 2013-05-01T16:50:00

<3
Very hard, You could ease the learning curve by letting the player traverse some lighted levels before introducing the darkened ones. That would also have meant more levels. But maybe the steep learning curve was on purpose XD

Atrakt 4096 by foumart 2013-04-29T19:03:00

It starts but does not react to anything except pressing R which plays the level start sound again, so I think it restarts the level.

Atrakt 4096 by foumart 2013-05-01T21:11:00

I get the idea and I think is good, but for me the learning curve is much too steep. I red the desciption but still could not win the first level. The minimalistic graphics are nice, but maybe you should make the effects of the abilities clearer (in a visual way).

Minimalism by Mathias Olsson 2013-05-06T10:09:00

Nice Idea, you can build upon this by creating different images and maybe making one of the colors represent walls/slow down zones, so that you can't see them at the beginning but after collecting some colors, it gets clear

Heart Attack by wilbefast 2013-05-06T11:27:00

With a heart monitor, this allows for incredible fun. I imagine connecting it to ergometers in schools or the like, so that lazy-ass-nerds (like me) can have some fun in sports class (you would need to switch roles after each round, though). You could also reward keeping the heartrate in the optimal training range (which I forgot) by spawning more hearts there.

Dropblocks by Doctor Broccoli 2013-04-29T18:52:00

I quite liked the mechanics, but I would prefer some type of designed levelset where you win if you destroy a number of tiles. But that might just be me.

Out Of Light by Msquirrel 2013-05-06T11:18:00

awesome horror when the light is almost empty and you start searching for a potato, but cant find one. Then you find one and see ZOMBIES ALL AROUND YOU!
Not sure if there are multiple levels or it just restarts after winning.
The bullet sound could use another design iteration.
I found the lowering light quite aprupt, maybe you can make it smoother.

Life! by cwilloughby 2013-05-01T21:27:00

I like it very much, it fits the theme perfectly. Only two little things could be improved I think:

I had no time to read the events on the right, maybe display them after each level, so the player has time to read them

I am not quite sure if the music and the opportunities were in sync, sometimes they seemed a little off, but as I said, I am not sure about that

SQUARE by Beardbotnik 2013-05-06T10:53:00

I noticed it says "Ludum Dare Warming Up" in the Title Bar XD. Nice Idea and Art, just a little short.

Formless Reliquary by PsenFilip 2013-05-06T10:01:00

Great game, just the sfx where a bit too loud/annoying imo

Pixel Pusher by igrowbeards 2013-04-29T17:56:00

I do not like that I can create wrong combinations that then seemed to do nothing anymore, also I could not hear the music listed in the credits. I think this concept would work better as a puzzle game, without the player being able to switch colors at will. Also you could make colors mean "you collide with that" instead of "that does not hurt". Of course this would not be as minimalistic, so I have another reason to dislike this theme.

CubeMaster by JimmyLord 2013-04-29T17:01:00

Most things allready said, I like how impatient players will never get to see the fun part

Balls Balls Balls by matthias_zarzecki 2013-04-29T17:20:00

Awesome game, I prettymuch agree whith what was allready said. Minor improvements are possible however:

It took me a while to recognize the particles as a success indicator, maybe make them a little more dense

I missed the Continue button severall times, once I bounced one ball out of it's circle with that click, maybe give it a border

My mind kept imagining a "pling" for each click, I would like that

As said, only minor improvement ideas. Awesome game, really worth playing.

MSG - Match Set Game by bastiandantilus 2013-04-29T18:21:00

Really had fun with this, I would have liked the numbers in the corner be explained upfront, though. Also I do not like the UI-FONT, but that might just be me.

llab by tonic 2013-05-01T16:42:00

Very short and simple, I like that. I could imagine a ton of levels utilizing only the mechanics you showed allready. Some sort of "Sonic the Hedgehog" - like rolling with these ramps for example. Great!

Gut Buster Zombie Dash by zairon 2013-04-29T20:41:00

Neat concept, but it is too long in my opinion. It does not change over time and the possibility of accidently getting sorrounded by zombies shortly after accidently collecting a hammer rises with time. Also sometimes I get gaps where there is no food for a long time, so I need to stop for a while to recover stamina.

Minimalazor by Robotic 2013-05-06T11:08:00

Frikkin amazingly awesome gloriousness!

LD27 — 10 Seconds

Elevator Pitch by Back to Browse Entries 2013-08-26T15:33:00

restart button did not work

Hall of Flame by ModestArcade 2013-08-26T15:29:00

I really enjoyed it, it's a pity you could not make more levels.

At first I thought I had to reach the upper door, too, what is it for?

Nut - timeout by van noctar 2013-08-31T22:23:00

I would really appreciate if you wrote English in this community, I can not understand what you are trying to say. (Also there are encoding errors that prevent me from using a translator).

However, your game plays fluently and is quite entertaining. Your graphics make me think there is a story behind it, I would have liked if you told it to the player.

Caves of Caladria by Joxno 2013-08-26T15:20:00

Either I'm doing it wrong or the character won't move, WASD changes the direction he is looking, but nothing else. Jumping works, firing down makes him fly up, but he does not walk.

Canvas10 by Naked_Samurai 2013-08-26T16:51:00

I really like this. I had a bug though: sometimes when showing for pictures together, the screen turned black for a while and after that everything was gone (4 white canvases).

Time To Say Goodby by Satyre 2013-08-26T15:52:00

I have no idea what I'm doing and therefore could not win it. (Seriously, is there a timing component with the ligths or something? I didn't get it)

Space Sweeper by JoeDev_net 2013-08-26T16:43:00

Great game, someone try and beat my 156, I'll check back later to see if it still holds or if I need to improve it!

It would be nice if the upgrades where distinguishable.

LD28 — You Only Get One

Just in case anyone looks for answers:
@all who missed the theme: You get only one emergency beamout, is it not very prominent, though.
@Poxymyr: sorry about that, we had a feeling we should vary the colors more, but alas, time was running, so we skipped it.
@drludos: We are not quite sure what happened. There is some setup work for each level, maybe that was too much. The first levels shouldn't do much otherwise. In later levels some poorly optimized physics and AI might be too heavy.

very nice concept, but suffers for interface. I could never figure the whole system out, because I could not find how to produce copper, I suspect a planet needing a level up, but to make that one work I neeed another one that needs copper, circular dependency anyone?

looks great, also i have no idea what each thing meant, I tried to get as many orange barrels as possible, before the cube is filled up, and I got 81. I could do better if I tried again, because knowing the mechanics helps, but that would be plain boring, doscovering it was the fun. A simple "yay, you made a orange barrel, thats cool" or some reward for combining stuff on ice would make it way more satisfactory

Layer by Doctor Broccoli 2014-09-02T23:30:00

Ah, you are the one getting distracted by particle effects. In fact they are so overdone, I could barely see the actual fireball. Nice rendering engine and smooth controls, but lacking gameplay.

Sandbox Battle by jpverkamp 2014-08-25T17:21:00

Interesting idea, though leaving the bottom is something you quickly notice is a bad idea, because at the bottom loosing sand is virtually impossible. Maybe force the player to leave the bottom by opening his rect when touching it could be a neat trick, makes you try to hover as close to the bottom without touching it.

Hello Worlds by dustyroom 2014-09-02T22:19:00

Easier post compo versions are for pussies. I don't think it is the difficulty or the click-a-lot that gets a bit frustrating, it is when you click on the wrong tile because the world moved under your mouse. (This kind of mistake makes you usally loose the level). Maybe require mouse movement (above a threshold?)to change the selected tile. Great Game nevertheless

The Signal by tillrobby 2014-08-25T17:39:00

It was hard not to loose orientation and to know what each collectible did. Maybe mark removable or removed walls seperately. nevertheless I completed it. Maybe keep the rotation after leaving world 3, that would add another layer of loosing orientation, though.

And to sound: I know Otomata when I hear it, you made good use of it.

Elemental Connection by Rialgar 2014-08-25T17:56:00

@garygreen, you can remove any connection by just redrawing it from its start. This will also reset all dots, which are purely asthetic anyways.

Elemental Connection by Rialgar 2014-08-26T09:26:00

@Rahazan they are supposedto be the 4 elements, and opposites can't cross. Namely Water(blue) <-> Fire(red) and Earth(green) <-> Air(Yellow), I thought about explaining that in-game, but I liked the minimalistic approach more, so took the Risk of player confusion

Great concept, nice graphics and a perfectly fitting banjo-tune. But the unclear instructions can really ruin it. Introducing some indicator on how many times I need to push space would massively improve this game. Also I liked the doors.

This Game is truly amazing. While the gameplay and the visuals are very simplistic, the beautiful soundtrack building up as the heroine recovers the instruments is what makes it so marvelous. It is a simple and yet wonderful composition creating an exquisite vibe. The heroine's voice fitting the music as she sings against the silence is a delicious cherry on the cake.

Nice Music and Graphics, liked the surreal feel. A bit difficult for me, I could not figure out how to evade enemy bullets and I hate jumping into the unknown. Best Plattformer advice I ever got: let the player jump for a short time after they dropped off a ledge, so they miss it less often.

I made a Let's Play of your game (45min! It took ages to upload): http://youtu.be/_RM816nxeNI

This game is gorgeous in visuals and music. The vibe is soothing and relaxing, just like gardening should be. Yet the underlying story makes me feel just barely uneasy and a tad guilty. I wonder what this war is about. Why do they have concrete buildings but use swords, maces, spears and lances? Why am I in this Prison? Am I a political prisoner? Was I a rebel? What will happen to that senior cadet? Who are the parties in this war? This small room builds up an enormous story with the simple planting and growing mechanic and minimalistic dia... well actually monologue. I. Love. It.

very unusual game mechanic. It works perfectly. The execution is flawless. The playing field looks like a screen, so I feel like I am playing a game inside the game. The upper rams jammed once, maybe it was part of the game, made it much harder in any case.

TLDR OTT - An Unconventional Weapon by wooltech 2015-04-23T13:21:00

Vintage Defense by mikeureko 2015-04-29T20:58:00

I liked the solid engine and the increasing difficulty. The Graphics and the sound work great together to convey a retro feel. The exploding tape seemed useless in the beginning but became very important later, I like that.

A note on installation wizards for jam-games: don't. Just don't. I spent more time installing an uninstalling it then playing. And if your technology requires you to use an installer, use your games title as a name, not the Jams Title.

Congratulations on finishing your first LD game. The mechanics of randomly changing weapons is good, and the Robot guy looks very nice. Everything else looks hastily done in comparison. Much has been said about the small things that could improve this game. I'd like to add that LD is not a place were people like to read instructions before playing, so put them clearly visible into the game or make it possible to just discover everything. Also I liked the fire.

DROP IT! by Null DIES 2015-04-28T20:52:00

See me playing it here: https://youtu.be/da7OMjm2hA0

An Excellent Integration of Music and Gameplay and a very nice take on the theme. I like the ever increasing basic soundtrack that changes its pitch with the height at wich the player hovers. I liked how constantly begged to use the "Drop It!"-Ability and how the change in music made it feel über-awesome (allthough it's just a kill everything on screen). The degredation back to the normal tune could be a bit more gracefull. In fact this game would be even more awesome if the tunes changed over time, getting fuller and faster, and the game with them, rising in difficulty.

The Monster Inside by Random Seed Games 2015-09-14T19:17:00

Beautiful executed novella. The conclusion came a bit abrupt, though. Maybe showing purple threads at all locations or introducing what the mirror does by some suicidal monologue could have eased it.

Crop Circles 2015 by Keith Stellyes 2015-09-11T20:27:00

Nice idea, maybe make the acceleration a bit slower, so you can actually hold the key down to accelerate over a short time instead of carefully tapping it.

And add a "brake" key, that quickly decelerates, no matter where you are going.

I think the controls broke in the second level, it went up when i pressed left, then crazy fast left and out of the screen when I pressed down to stop it.

Monster Clicker by Jawesome 2015-09-09T21:34:00

Costs should not scale linearly but exponential in an idle/clicker game. Faster progression at the beginning, slower later.

Billy Goat Grub by ChrisFagan 2015-09-05T22:12:00

Krakoogle- dexterity game by WERT Studio 2015-09-10T20:58:00

Nice graphic, some suggestions:
- make sure boxes have some space between them, makes them more visible
- make a sound/grafics effect when a box is hit
- map the controls somewhat similar to the lanes geometrically, e.g. wasd, so the player can relate that easier
- animate the conveyor belt, e.g. by animating the uv coordinates
- make the thing I am supposed to do more fund than the thing I am not supposed to do (I watched the boxes pile up for quite a while)
- maybe use a cooldown instead of punishment for useless button hits, so you can't spam keys, but it does not feel that harsh
- maybe increase the hit area a little, I should be able to hit it right until it starts falling over

Ubix's Undersized Breakout by HeliosStudio 2015-09-11T19:48:00

Very nice character design and graphics!
The controls felt kinda weird, maybe it's the instant speedup and stop, or the lack of camera guidance, Or just the fact that the animation and the movement speed don't fit well.

LD34 — Two Button Controls / Growing

Director Morse by tompudding 2015-12-20T23:35:00

-. .. ,.,. .

having the second robot locked in at first was unnecessarily tedious. With the difficulty of morse, one robot that could do all the actions would have been a better choice. When you leave out the numbers (ie moving one field with just "F" and rotating 90 degrees with just "R" and "L") you can leave the normal controls, because the hardest part where multi-character commands. But then it would have been a one button game XD.

Stitch Wars by wilbefast 2015-12-20T15:31:00

It is kind of anoying that the enemies always act first, that makes it really hard

Sanctuary Station by Joror 2015-12-20T22:41:00

I. loved. it.

Everything was perfectly fit together, just like a nice working rescue. Premise, Controls, Visuals (I liked how the little people dots bounced around), difficulty. I only wish the second level would have ended with no more pods appearing and a proper ending instead of a dialog that forces me to quit the level. There was one with only 30 seconds of life support left!

Further awesomeness improvement ideas if you ever make this into a full game:
* Undocking if all doors are closed, so I can rebuild in case I accidentally covered all ports in one direction and can't find a pod that provides them.
* The stopping was weird. When I said "move there" while they still moved, they slowly changed direction. When they reached a destination, they just stopped even in mid space. This was very annoying when I needed to move a pod to the other side of the station quickly. I think the more unrealistic version of "stop when direction changes" would make the best game here. Alternatively increase acceleration and add proper breaking to normal stops.

TartiFlu by smatcher 2015-12-20T15:46:00

Controls are very weird. Is it always accelarating away from the camera? Anyway, it kept bouncing higher and higher, untill I fell of the map.

Wilhelm Scream ftw!

Poetry by metalchouchen 2015-12-20T22:14:00

While poem and game did no seem to connect, I liked both. Music was interestingly fitting both the visual stlye and the poem. Good job!

Reading while playing was difficult, maybe stretching out the collectibles or having a narrator read a piece the poem everytime a verse/sentence/unit is complete would get rid of that.

Root-gen by Chewie 2015-12-15T22:20:00

I made a video of me playing it: https://youtu.be/KVLRlym1o0g (still uploading at time of writing, should be done 90 minutes (12-16T00:30 CET), my upstream is slooooow)

I really liked it, it was fun to explore the cave and the tunnels, even if I randomly crashed into the wall because the random wiggle turned unexpectedly. Ideas for further awesomeness:

Adding a glow to the plants, I was thinking a bright bluish for the player and some dark purple for the obstacles.

Add some predictability to the wiggle, maybe follow a sine or another repeating wave that is only modified slightly by randomness?

Overall, Great Job! Congratulations on your first LD game. I hope you return.

Thunder On by Lia-Sae 2015-12-17T21:33:00

Very nice, also I recorded myself playing it, editing and uploading now, will keep you posted once it's online.

I really liked the satisfying flash and thunder at the end, but I did not realize the camera was pointing down until I read the comments. Maybe show little lights like from a city near the ground. No need for actual lanterns, just the lightbulbs, small and hard to see at first, getting larger and more bright the lower you get. Maybe organized in lines as if along a road or two. These could also serve to tell the player how high they still are.

More Room! by Skosnowich 2017-05-13T14:32:33Z

I love this type of game, and I think it is great how you move the story one level up each time, instead of just going through multiple scenarios.

Small World Simulator by Rialgar 2017-05-15T18:18:11Z

@headmade yeah, the islands are mainly an artifact of the grid. I was thinking about temperature, pressure and wind/currents but time ran out. If I ever pick it up again I'll have to figure out a better way of dealing with the fact that circles don't map onto pixels (or more specifically, how to figure out what 'beneath' and 'above' mean).

Parvus Mundi by Antiwrapper 2017-05-14T10:08:15Z

Simple but very entertaining game. The gameplay is spot on, what's left to do is juicing it up. The video above explains that perfectly. Add sprites (or at least eyes), sounds, particles and screenshaking. Though I bet you already knew that and just ran out of time.

Where is mommy? by jQnas 2017-05-13T11:17:47Z

InDepth-VirusOutbreak by NoobDude 2017-05-12T22:49:37Z

I just hope nobody will ever have to live with an actual blood flow like this.

Higher Ground by LandoSystems 2017-05-13T15:43:49Z

The game plays very nice, the visuals are gorgeous. With moving up being the only goal, many of the options one has are kind of useless. Maybe add a secondary win condition:

1. reach the snow 2. have 6 or more natives

This would require you to add natives which in turn requires more resources which in turn makes the tool upgrades more interesting.

But even without that, I had a really fun time playing it.

Daylight by conrad123 2017-05-14T10:29:58Z

The gravity getting weaker the farther you progress is really cool. I love that. The energy mechanic and the combat were weird, I would much prefer satisfying *thud*s with punches instead of slowly depleting enemy bars. And maybe instead of energy, make them create checkpoints that I can return to with the press of a button in case I fall down.

Hop Up by PietPtr 2017-05-12T21:22:07Z

Ecowsystem by concalf 2017-05-13T09:16:30Z

I absolutely love it in every way I can think of. It is beautiful, it is funny, it is endearing, it is challenging.

Planetary Escape by w1n5t0n 2017-05-12T22:36:54Z

Interestingly, the best strategy I found was just staying at the initial planet and shooting bursts when pointing in the general enemy direction. the fact that you can shoot yourself is really annoying, because most of the time there is not much I can do to avoid or even predict it.

Ant Forts by rplnt 2017-05-13T12:08:07Z

Loved the bustling, scurrying and crawly look of it all. However, I did not feel any challenge, the bugs mostly just died off without causing relevant damage to the nest, they only destroyed my forts, so I stopped building those.

Space Migrator by jackyjjc 2017-05-01T16:59:19Z

Very nice prototype. It is on the easy side, but that is not necessarily a bad thing. I think it should end in a 'get as far as you can' mode, were everything collapses once you reach a certain height (crushing the lowest pods).

Defending my small world by t0m 2017-05-13T11:39:56Z

I like the art style. It would be nice if the different types of enemies would look a little different.

The pushback from the automatic gun seems to only work if it is directed upwards in the picture.

I loved the bullets hanging around in "orbit" and me pushing them around when jumping.

Quantum Frustum by nusan 2017-05-13T09:35:30Z

Brilliant! I loved that exploration not only involved the fixed structure of the game, but also the changes each element can exhibit.

"Hm, there is a wall, maybe if I just turn away for a second it will be gone"

The music and the colors give it a nice eerie atmosphere. I also absolutely love how the switching rhythm in the end synchronizes with the music.

Pallas Station by btwj 2017-05-14T10:54:51Z

I love the mechanics. Even though it took me a while to figure out how the stacking works (to be hones, I am still not entirely sure, I think can have one building and one improvement on the same tile, but not two buildings or two improvements). I got a little annoyed that there was no goal and I had to loose at some point, but that's just how high score games work. Great job.

Tiny Tily Tile World by spacewarp 2017-05-13T13:12:30Z

This is a very nice toy. I set myself challenges along the way. I first turned it into all desert and volcanoes and then tried to get it back to "m-class". The papery look made the toy-feeling perfect. Very well executed on a very good concept.

Unnatural Resources by codyhansen 2017-05-05T21:43:04Z

I love the concept, the graphics and the moody sound. Some minor point, though: * It took me a while to understand that the numbers are what I have, not what I can pick up from the planet. * At the third play through, I got it pretty much figured out and stable. Maybe increase consumption over time so that it gets harder. Then all you need is a high-score server ;).

The Core by ectucker1 2017-05-14T10:00:54Z

Much has been said. I love the premise, but I often felt like I 'skipped' the puzzle by just placing the teleporters conveniently. The menu music is awesome!

Look up by Vodzik 2017-05-13T13:22:54Z

So one day, I was just admiring all the trees on my small planet, and then meteors started hitting left and right! This is brilliant, especially considering it's your first game! Very well done.

Aquarium king election by boorik 2017-05-13T13:58:51Z

I really like the concept and most of the execution. My only critique is that giving limited tries is not a good decision here. Make it more of a race instead, so that most players can complete it without having to redo the first animals over and over but the best can compete on time left.

I also think that the time limit should be the time from start to vote - not the time overall. I.e. reset it for every animal. This would give the player a better idea if they can wait for the previous animals to pass or if they have to squeeze it in

So weird, in a glorious and funny way. Very well done.

Islands in Equilibrium by NekuSoul 2017-05-13T13:41:59Z

Very cool. I think the simple art is important here, because it let's you clearly see the tiles and focus on the puzzle instead of trying to figure out where the borders are. I like how the last one forced me to think out of the box.

Cell Defender by Kreur 2017-05-12T23:11:40Z

It was a little tricky to figure out what is what in the cell, but once I got the hang of it, it was a lot of fun. Some satisfying sound effects and a score counter could improve it even more.

what's left by frostByte4k 2017-05-13T09:45:45Z

First: to get more people to play your game, add a cover image and maybe an image in the description itself. Also play and rate other games to get your Coolness up so your game shows up on the top of the games list. Also comment on other peoples games, they may return the favor and it will earn you a higher place on the feedback friends page.

Now feedback: It is a good first game.

I think the random crumbling of the ground may have made it impossible to beat randomly, so I had to reload until I got a run that can be completed. Maybe crumble it only after the player has touched it as least once?

Colliding with the enemies should make either them or the player die. Maybe you can kill them by jumping on them?

Being able to 'stand' in the side of a ground tile was weird, but I cass you could interpret it as 'holding on' to it.

Primordial Ooze by primitive-concept 2017-05-01T16:49:25Z

I like the idea of using the 'enemy' cells to fight the stronger enemies, but nested cells still feel weird. I love the moody graphics and music.

Den by La mecanique du plastique 2017-05-12T21:07:35Z

I loved the doomy atmosphere, very much akin to a good monster movie.

The mouse only controls felt a little weird, probably better on a touch device.

I felt there was more story than I experienced. Why was I doing what I was doing? Was I escaping or invading or getting them to leave? Was I the thing that woke because they dug to deep? Not answering that adds a little mystery flavor, but also makes it kind of weird, because I normally know the motivation of the character I am playing.

Cosmic Flinger by TwinGhosts 2017-05-12T23:01:04Z

Love the game. Graphics audio and gameplay are all on point! The only improvement I can think of is an increasing difficulty over time. E.g. decrease the time between individual enemies and increase their number every 5 waves.

Quantum World by Paul Nadan 2017-05-13T10:09:22Z

Getting to the bottom of the mechanics was a little tricky. But once I understood what was happening, it was very cool to figure out the solutions.

The web version sometimes decides to be rendered upside down, which makes playing it so weird, that it is basically impossible. Reloading mostly fixes it, though.

LD39 — Running out of Power

SPHEER by Split82 2017-08-09T14:22:20Z

The visuals are absolutely gorgeous! The gameplay is fluid and the puzzles are rewarding. I think it may be difficult to come up with many extensions with only this mechanic, though. In Talos Principle you had to connect source and switch, here the sphere is a source in itself, which limits the puzzle design.

The usual ideas now are colored beams and spheres that are not sources. Combining those with moving platforms/targets can already give you quite the number of options. Of course more devices you can power also increase the design space. Talos Principle had the ventilators,

Robot Infiltration by unnamed1334 2017-08-10T22:34:17Z

I had a ton of fun playing it, but I am still not sure if I got all the mechanics. It seemed like sometimes taking out a tower also disabled another, as if there was a power chain. There also where little dots flying roughly between towers. Those facts seemed to be unrelated, though...

Solar Digger by Rialgar 2017-08-06T21:44:41Z

@perdugames the performance trick is easy: 1.: Tile based collision only, which is very fast. I only check if the 4 tiles the character is potentially in have any ground in them. 2.: Only render visible part of the map. It is not even using webgl, only canvas2d.

@infinitycore no I haven't, but I played other digging games. I previously made another one for another LD.

Solar Digger by Rialgar 2017-08-09T12:40:09Z

@morphine @codey @joebeard You are right, the upgrades don't help all that much. They are also totally unbalanced, I just picked some values and went with them.

The Last Wisp by Mordokay 2017-08-08T22:06:08Z

I love the concept and the moody atmosphere. However, for me at least, it was too hard. I got quickly surrounded by enemies, but trying to kill them would only reduce my light, even if they never hit me. So I ran away and from one glow rock to another, which also was only of limited success.

Drone Supervisor by Jimbly 2017-08-10T22:19:25Z

I love this type of game. Plays similar to SpaceChem, but different enough to not feel like a knock-off.

Very enjoyable quick game.

Are enemies damaged when they fly through the fire of your rocket? If so, you should tell that to the player.

Player in the Dark by loyance 2017-08-08T22:41:55Z

I like the idea, but I had to use both 1 and 2 to beat the game. I like myself a hard game once in a while, but this was frustatingly unfair. Look at "I wanna be the Guy" for an excellent hellishly difficult and even partially unfair plattformer, that is still very enjoyable.

A couple of tips:

The distance between savepoints was too short compared to the power meter. Give the player some slack, so that one or two misshaps or even jsut a small break do NOT immediately result in a restart. When there were enemies, I even had to go back and forth to kill them and then have enough power to reach the next savepoint.

As a rule of thumb, the game should be darn easy for you to play, at least the first couple of screens, if it starts getting difficult for you, the player will have a very hard time.

Introduce only one mechanic at a time. Here are some examples where you introduced two at the same time:

* double jump - going backwards * moving platforms - falling rocks * climbing from movable to movable - movables that go behind spikes

Use separate keys for separate actions. I would like to use my flashlight from the savety of the savepoint, so that I can see the area before I start walking.

Do not use the z key for anything, it moves around in other very common keyboard layouts. (E.g. french and german). X and C are fine (at least in qwertz, qwerty and azerty, to my knowledge the three most common layouts).

Have contrast between background and foreground, I like to see where I can go. (When the flashlight is on, of course)

Have contrast between hazzards and background, dark grey rocks on black background are really hard to see

Have a full screen version. I prefer huge pixels over a tiny game window everyday.

Do not make insta-kill hazards random. I can not best it with skill, since they are different each time and in the worst case they are impossible to beat. When they are scripted patterns, muscle memory let's me beat it.

Trough The Desert by zyow 2017-08-09T14:04:38Z

I like the graphics and the concept. The controls are ok. I don't like that I have no idea what each part does. Should I add more engines? More wings? What is the difference of the wings?

Sabotage by image_31 2017-08-09T13:52:14Z

I actually liked how I had no Idea what to do the first time. Only after losing a couple of times was I able to come up with a successful plan.

The Crown Prince by Baby Dino Herd 2017-08-10T21:05:52Z

This is absolutely amazing. A game mechanic unlike any I have ever seen before, the embodiment of innovation. Bravo. I also loved how each level has a witty title.

Some **minor** points:

I think the coins could have used some more distinctive features, maybe shape (e.g. make the gold ones hexagons).

In the third level the coins did not want to spread correctly, they flickered and I was unable to click them. (web build, chrome, windows 10)

I would rather have rated you in humor instead of mood.

Galac'Song by Draklaw 2017-08-10T23:32:29Z

I liked the game, had a lot of fun playing through it. That being said, your game highlights the reason I decided against this interpretation of the theme. The later levels are actually much easier than the earlier ones, leading to a difficulty curve the wrong way around.

Drain by morphine 2017-08-09T13:08:54Z

I loved it. I did not quite get that I had to walk back to the beginning at first, but I got to the end after all.

There was one lamp that I never reached. When you go left first, and after the bridge you see it to your right. Is that one only a decoy or is there something hidden over there?

POW by ProdigalSon 2017-08-10T21:21:33Z

I loved it. The bright colors, the happy mood, the clear objective and controls.

The only thing I noticed is that the puzzles where mostly just variations of 'where do I teleport the gizmo too'. This is perfectly fine for a game of this length, but if you plan on building it further, I would love to see variations with more difficult puzzles. Maybe add a barrier that you can only pass while carrying the gizmo.

EnergyBoy - Open World Tower Defense by Daniel Kartafla 2017-08-10T23:02:53Z

Nice concept, but the balancing is off.

After I figured out the controls I just built a solid wall of turrets which kept me alive as long as I cared.

Hyper Battery Girl by Deke 2017-08-09T15:07:08Z

Absolutely fantastically brilliantly awesome. I did not finish it, but I still loved it.

Only one point: I personally would prefer more savepoints, so I can train the difficult parts without having to redo the previous difficult parts over and over.

Zzap by HS_Dave 2017-08-08T23:03:53Z

Awesome game. On my final playthrough I was saved by a pylon right next to the start after resetting the stage. I love how the corruption adds just the right amount of pressure to be quick. The only improvement I think is required here is the consistency of the difficulty. Maybe make the number of items and the distance of items to the player a little less random and more controlled by the level counter.

DRAIN by LERPish 2017-08-09T15:23:39Z

It looks totally awesome and is fun to play, even though it is mainly 'walk there, keep mouse button down until they are dead'

Power Up by MMM 2017-08-09T13:29:16Z

I really loved the atmosphere and the design of the collectibles.

The rotation of the camera over time is weird. especially since the actual game does not stay centered. I understand that it should give some variety to the game, but it just feels weird.

Battery Run by JustMars 2017-08-08T23:11:13Z

I loved the phone idea, even though how collecting yellow bubbles recharges my phone is beyond me. I also like the turn at the half point. Something to consider in future games: If your main interaction is keyboard, let the player reset and start the game after failing with only the keyboard, too. If you fail a couple of times, having to reach for your mouse each time can be an unattended punishment.

LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

Reroute Reboot by OddballDave 2017-12-20T22:50:58Z

Oh I love it. It would be awesome if you had multiple maps. I can think of starting with a single building and scaling up in each level, to city, county, state, country, continent, world. Each time only the hubs of that scale are visible.

Trapping Circles by Rialgar 2017-12-05T18:12:39Z

@elemel for the record, they get damaged when hitting the wall, but they recover slowly, so you have to trap them in a tight space. Also you take damage when colliding with them, the number of stripes on the player decreases, when none is left, the level resets.

Trapping Circles by Rialgar 2017-12-27T22:56:03Z

@yeah, they probably clipped. The rendering is not efficient at all (not even remotely...), so a frame may have taken too long...

Charge Arena by PurpleAlien 2017-12-27T23:08:59Z

The overly sensitive turning controls made it weird but also weirdly enjoyable. I am not entirely sure if anyone can win this on purpose or if it is basically pure luck, though.

LD40 - Snake by Torhaq 2017-12-26T23:34:56Z

The cool thing about the original snake to me were the precise controls that allowed for insane tricks when mastered. Snatching the apple from that 2 width spot and returning successfully. Sadly, this is completely absent from this game.

I liked the art and sound, though. The light cone was a nice touch.

Grey Goo by kleinzach 2017-12-27T21:27:11Z

This was brilliant, the story was enthralling and the news reports fleshed it out so beautifully. I loved the twist. Awesome game. The only issue I had is that by the point I started harvesting humans, I had so many nanobots from just reading the previous news that the humans where gone in a blink.

Brick Racer by nekoballs 2017-12-20T23:04:35Z

I looooooooooove this game. At first I thought 'nice, cool gimmick, fluid execution, just needs some non-placeholder art'. Then the online high score hit for massive awesomeness.

Crystal Curse by IcyLava 2017-12-17T22:59:58Z

In the name of [insert favorite deity], that was awesome. Pretty difficult, especially because the character does not react immediately to my input changes. But it got me a real good adrenaline rush. I like how in most levels you can avoid the rockets firing, but that does not make the stage easier, so you have to decide between just going for it and trying to avoid the rockets and rerouting left/right to leave the view range, but risking to miss that additional jump.

Takomakase by Zambini 2017-12-27T22:48:40Z

I feel like fever keys would be a good thing here, maybe only 2 per row. It also needs a punishment for hitting the wrong key, to prevent button mashing.

Honey Empire by chriiis88 2017-12-20T22:20:12Z

I have not much to add, I liked the hats and the protesting signs.

Wormhead by elemel 2017-12-04T23:08:48Z

Really challenging, love it. The friction-less movement is difficult as it is, but the tail makes it incredibly hard, which I feel is the intention. The fact that you also have to make sure the power pieces are close enough when collecting improves this to the point where it is not tedious but fresh and interesting each time.

The music is a little repetitive, but it works well for the amount of time LD games are usually played.

Got to 5 pieces.

Plastic by jeroenwimmers 2017-12-04T22:35:53Z

I love it! The simplicity and playfulness of it all are brilliant. It was not challenging, because it did not need to be. It was relaxing and rewarding.

Add more varied obstacles, soothing background ambiance and little 'blub' sounds and the next mobile hit is done! (maybe random level generation after the authored levels)

Cloak and Dagger by PTSnoop 2017-12-27T21:04:27Z

This is a really cool concept. I would like an indicator how each value is changing at the moment, so I can adjust without having to wait for a change to see the direction it is moving.

Wired Network by Behenate 2017-12-27T22:13:36Z

I had a ton of fun playing it. A couple suggestions:

Story mode was my favorite, but I found it hard to judge how far the firewall is behind me, some kind of indicator would be cool.

I think you sometimes introduced new elements to quickly, try to focus on one element at a time and then variations of that, then new elements, then combinations. E.g. 1. run to target 2. platforms 3. varied spacing 4. no platforms, but a saw 5. saws on platforms 6. rotated saws on platforms 7. easy platforms and a hammer 8. platforms and multiple hammers 9. saws and hammers 10. saws and platforms and hammers

(I did not include enemies, you can weave them in there as a separate element) Look to mario games or donkey kong country games for excellent examples of these.

I found the platforming tricky, but got used to it. I think I prefer 3rd person for platforming, so I see where the characters feet are. Also a nifty trick to reduce the frustrating "falling of when wanting to jump": allow the character to jump 1 or 2 frames after they drop off a platform, again nintendo does this a lot.

slashdown by maysick 2017-12-26T23:53:44Z

I loved this one. 63 was my score. It got easier once I figured out that I can not pick up coins but still advance, but it was still challenging. I would like for the bats to have some kind of anouncement animation, too, so I know when they will fire.

Pirate's Escape by BobbyTables 2017-12-20T22:12:09Z

I had a ton of fun playing this. My ship got pretty OP, though. 5 rows of canons in the front, 10 canons each. I obliterated everything, which was cool.

Hiyek's Ludum Dare 40 Submission - Swami Shooter PT by Hiyek 2017-12-27T22:37:17Z

If you develop this further, I think different npcs with different likelyhoods of good/bad thoughts would be cool. Maybe have protesters with signs likely to have bad thoughts, children likely to have good thoughts, etc.

And the difficulty of enemies should increase with time, not be influenced by what thoughts you read.

Fruit Vendor by Rialgar 2018-08-28T17:35:27Z

@candlesan you are right, there is hardly any agency, but once I noticed this I had not enough time left to change it in a meaningful way. I hoped that it would still be fun for one or two rounds.

Closing in on Pascal by gamepopper 2018-08-16T18:44:20Z

Had a great time playing this. One suggestions: add a threshold to what you consider 'down' or 'up' on the gamepad, I found myself accidentally pushing it down just a bit and being unable to jump.

BALL BUSTERS by tedbolt 2018-08-21T19:36:20Z

I loved the concept and the controls feel really good. The sound and graphics match each other and work nicely. The only issue I have is that the AI is basically impossible to beat. Maybe decrease the maximum movement speed of the bat or increase the stun duration to give the player a chance.

MNTL BLCKS by Steve Sparkes 2018-08-21T21:28:29Z

Ahahahahahaha! haha! Ahahahahaha! Ahahahahahahaha! Ha.. Okay, this was hilarious. my favorite was the Ticket Person and Machete Combo, though I did not nearly explore all the options.

The Puzzle felt a bit forced. The first time it kind of made sense, but since a big part of this game is repeating it and trying out the different combinations it started to be just tedious 'reset until I get what I want'.

Maybe remove the randomness and just have the pieces be always the same, that would make it more of a 'how do I get the things I want in there'.

The art was awesome and I think I already mentioned how much I loved the writing.

Who would have thought that collecting trash can be this satisfying.

Ascending Assault by walnoot 2018-08-16T19:43:41Z

Totally awesome. After I got the hang of it, I loved it. The fact that you will basically be unable to change anything in the lower layers when setting up the next is brilliant.

My strategy was to add another command center on the next level, remove the ramp and let them work separately. That way the workers stopped running so far and stayed closer to the production.

After I figured that out, it became easy. That is no issue, though, I really enjoyed figuring it out and reaping the rewards.

Cubed In by Wabble 2018-08-21T19:28:08Z

I had a blast playing it! Sometimes the collision of the walls that are spawned by the tubes seemed not to work, but I just pretended it would. The bomb animation was a little confusing at first, but I got the hang of it. The puzzles were easy, but that's fine for a quick game.

Space Smash by Alysson Moraes 2018-08-16T20:08:15Z

All around awesome game, I just stopped playing because I wanted to show you the screenshot: Score.png

I absolutely loved the art, the sounds, the effects, the tight controls, the variety of enemies and powerups. Brilliant. Your use use of theme was a great twist to the genre and the genre itself was flaelsy executed.

Worm Island by pabloplr 2018-08-16T18:50:20Z

Love the art style. I expected the worm to eat the apples and grow, but it did not. I just pushed the apples off the island. Was that intended? Anyhow, it was fun to play and the difficulty curve felt good.

Goblin' Up Loot by teddynashor 2018-08-16T19:18:01Z

Love the pun, the art, the music and the gameplay concept. For me the actual gameplay was less fun because the bouncyness of the items when grabbing them meant I had hardly any control. Maybe dampen the movement speed more so they bounce around less and follow your mouse a bit closer.

Achtung die Schlange by Team Yarn 2018-08-21T20:03:40Z

Nice take on snake. Took me a bit of trial and error to figure out which parts I can pass over and what they do, but once I understood I had great fun playing until I ran out of space ;).

Grave Heart by very dark lord 2018-08-21T20:33:22Z

It was funny, engaging, and maybe a tad too difficult. I loved all the voice lines, but I could not keep up with the bodies in the slightest. I was just not able to dig as many graves as there were corpses coming in. Maybe one can pre-dig them in the tutorial before burying the first body ;)

LD45 — Start with nothing

Dungeon Crawler by Rialgar 2019-10-16T20:44:42Z

@flying-dog-fish The idea was to allow you to check on the enemy before attacking. I think making the default action 'check the enemy' when there is one and require a button to attack would have been better, but I did not get that idea during the compo

Dungeon Crawler by Rialgar 2019-10-17T17:52:35Z

@sharbelfs pst, don't tell everyone ;). I tried to make it more interesting, but that always came at the cost of causing unwinnable games, so I decided to go with the simple solution.

@tort60091 I agree about the movement, I really wanted to have the 'check enemy' thing but did not realize I could just not make 'move to enemy' be an auto attack

Dungeon Crawler by Rialgar 2019-10-24T18:20:31Z

@palemek Thanks for your comment! Looks like I forgot to reset a critical piece when restarting  . The stats are hidden on purpose, the game becomes trivial once you know them. The idea was that you need to experiment to figure out what their stats are (or more precisely, how to beat them)

I absolutely love the general concept. The execution was very solid and the sound track is just awesome. The entire theming around pipeworks works really well. There are 2 pieces you can improve, though.

The first is that it was very easy to create letters/words that can never reach a combination point at the same time. There are 2 ways to solve this, either the combination point can hold on to a word for a bit or you add the ability to speed-up or slow-down a segment.

The second was that it took me pretty long until I made progress in understanding it. Maybe add actual tasks, not only achievements. And make some tasks that actually build on each other.

Leverage by BilalCh213 2019-10-16T21:21:04Z

The execution and polish are amazing. The gameplay just feels great. My only beef is that I was unable to keep track of all enemies just with the mini map, especially since I mostly had no idea where each one was trying to go, they seemed to choose a lever at random. But maybe that's just me sucking at the game  . See me failing here: https://youtu.be/pwZXouM-cyI

Unstable Dungeon by Rhymar 2019-10-24T19:09:42Z

The moment to moment gameplay feels really good. The boss was challenging but beatable. My only critique would be that the grind is real. Even when getting a full inventory, you can not buy enough upgrades for them to actually have an effect. I don't think the layered upgrades add to the game, immediate upgrades provide better player feedback and are much more satisfying. See me wacking bugs here: https://youtu.be/pa7iZ-z79Po

@kalucifer thanks for the response, as alluded to in the video itself, the main audience of these are the developers/designers of the games. The videos are not meant to be entertaining, but to experience something that LD particpants rarely get: actual playtesting by someone who did not work on the game. I just love when people answer me and show me that they now understand their own game better than before .

Nun in the Chamber by BrokenMirrorMedia 2019-10-24T19:40:05Z

Pretty difficult, but also rewarding once you manage to beat it. The enemies all clumping AND running away from me was pretty annoying. Maybe make an easier enemy that does not run away, so it can be easily killed and add a 'keep distance from other enemies' component to their AI (literally 'if to close, add vector away from enemy to movement direction' does wonders). The core Gameplay is solid and a lot of fun. I did not actually get into the different enemy types since I managed to get rid of them all basically the same way - aka squish them with my white blood cell. The walls and canons were interesting, but I did not actually need them. I like making a specific upgrade the goal, makes the player prioritize between saving up for the goal and buying upgrades. I found only one ending. See me sloshing around the white blood cell here: https://youtu.be/hQ0s1gU3lQ4

LD46 — Keep it alive

3-Eyes by Rialgar 2020-04-21T18:20:08Z

@drachmor thanks for your awesome feedback. I am glad you enjoyed it. Maximum juiciness was my big goal this time and it seems to have played out.

@stanleygray sorry about the difficulty. I know the boss is hard but decided to leave it to make it even more satisfying when it explodes. No idea if it is possible with gamepad (not for me), but with mouse the trick is to constantly shoot the boss and kill the small enemies by moving so that they are between you and the boss ;).

There are a couple more waves after the boss, introducing a faster enemy.

Also I think I know where the memory leak is, once someone points it out it becomes glaringly obvious. I don't think I will fix it for LD, though, since a simple refresh of the tab should clear it. I will add a note in the description. Thanks for reporting!

3-Eyes by Rialgar 2020-04-21T19:27:10Z

@foursay I think your strategy is perfect for non-boss waves, that is one reason I made the boss so hard, so that this does not work and it forces you to get moving. Glad it worked

3-Eyes by Rialgar 2020-04-24T11:11:59Z

@saucygames there shouldn't be any lag, but there is a memory leak so after a couple of rounds maybe that had an influence.

Also since the bullets take a while to fly, that may add a perceived lag, maybe you have played a similar game with faster bullets before? Or maybe the bullets are just too slow in my game and cause an uncanny valley type of thing.

3-Eyes by Rialgar 2020-04-30T20:26:38Z

@kekkodude yeah, I put the second boss in last minute and just checked that I can beat it WASD+Mouse, but at that point I had become pretty good at the game  . Don't worry though, you didn't miss anything, that's the last wave and there is just a 'yay, you won' text after that.

After some initial trouble with some keydown or keyup events not working it started to work perfectly. At which point I had tons of fun. The art and music create just the right mood for the setting and the gamepley feels snazzy.

To make the game even cooler it just needs soume sound-efects and maybe the souls being sucked into the actual flame.

Also I don't think the 'falls down once, comes back stronger, falls back twice, you dead' mechanic mentioned in the beginning is actually in there. If it is, it is broken

Keep It Alive! by SeriouslyCrunchy 2020-04-29T19:58:15Z

I like a game where the main challenge is mastering the controls, and the graphics, sounds and funny intros in this one work great!

However, I feel that small changes would make this game more interesting:

a) more fuel, I felt that the low amount of fuel actually discouraged moving, but you want the player to master moving instead of avoiding it b) player sticks to platforms, again, make the player move, landing on a platform should allow for a brief period of rest/re-fueling but also move you around so you have to compensate c) permanent spikes at the bottom, just landing on the bottom was way to easy

Some Checkpoints or some way to heal myself would go a long way to make it a little more forgiving.

I love the art style, it is simple and cute but still conveys the dangers and tragedy of the corruption, really well done!

I had trouble shooting with the mouse, the arrows seemed to fly less far than with the game pad, so my aim with mouse was always off. Beat the game with game pad.

Stuck In A Loop by davidcmcdonald 2020-10-24T16:56:00Z

I feel like the game achieved exactly what you set out to do, it evoked a feeling of unease, dread and of being stuck with no way forward. The screen shake really made me want to avoid/fix the disturbances even without the danger of loosing the game. The lack of a win/loose conditions just improved it in my opinion. Very well done.

Broodmother by SludgeKey 2020-10-25T12:40:55Z

Disgusting, but also strangely satisfying. I mostly used the enemies against their own spawners instead of laying lot's of eggs, mostly because my eggs where either too far away to be usefull or immediately shot down. I had a lot of fun that way, though.

Polish and "juiciness" were amazing. it felt great to play. It became a bit repetitive quickly, though. Maybe throw in some blocks you want to avoid in the later levels? Maybe blocks that take 2 or 3 hits to break, so you CAN mine through, but going around may be quicker?

Squiddies decent by Rialgar 2021-04-30T17:57:13Z

@skoopidy yeah, the light mechanic turned out to be limiting my design choices, because once it shrinks below a certain size it makes finding anything basically impossible. Also the light is based on steps, not time, if you move quickly and do not collect torches the game will be over quickly as well. The idea was to give the player a choice, play slow and carefully, which might get you down further, or quick and risky with a chance of a high score.

Recursio by loyance 2021-05-13T15:50:07Z

Surprisingly fun to play and getting rather tricky whith all the houses in the last level.

Mineshaft Muddle by Luther-1 2021-05-13T16:26:21Z

HELLEVATORS by Quackqack 2021-05-13T16:11:30Z

I think it would have been better to have them move every time they can get closer to their target, not only when the entire path exists. This way I had to make a single path, wait for them to go through each elevator, drop it and see if I can now make another complete path. Getting over the entire map was basically impossible.

Using text to speech is brilliant! Occasionally I found it tricky to find the civilians, but I think that was just part of the challenge. The graphics look brilliant, but may be in need of optimization. The "plop" when you hit a ghost is amazing.

LeapSheep by joselor 2022-04-08T11:51:18Z

I got somewhat frustrated by being forced into a roll when colliding with a wall while jumping. Apart from that it felt great! One tricky bit with fast moving 2d platformers is that you can not see what is coming up, so inevitably crash into any obstacle the first time around, and then have to memorize the course in order to be able to beat it. Maybe zooming out when you get faster could reduce that issue.

Wickfall by OriginalDog 2022-04-08T13:56:01Z

Absolutely love the graphics! Gameplay feels solid, albeit a bit easy once you figure out they do not attack the towers that do damage. just collect the full 300, build one mortar and one arrows on each side, collect up 100 again, 2 more arrows, and you are pretty much save.

If you wanted to expand it, adding in a day-night cycle and the ability to get items that let you venture into previously closed parts of the mine would be cool. E.g a pick to remove bolders. Could even put some story into some hidden parts.

I loved the jump animation. The running felt a bit weird, is one half missing? I think it jumped directly from left arm forward to right arm forward.

Destination Station by JM-Janzen 2022-04-08T12:16:54Z

I enjoyed this a lot! Reminded me a bit of fly corp, with the upgrading of stations and routes.

I would have preferred the text to be bigger, and maybe at the mouse when you hover an object, so I don't have to change where I am looking all the time.

On my second attempt I managed to get it all fully upgraded and then it was stable. It would be cool to either declare that as a "win" state or just keep ramping up the traveler numbers until it is impossible to keep up.

Loved this one, I would have loved it even more if it had a win condition, but alas, the theme prevented that...

Mini Dungeon Tactics by Joror 2022-10-09T15:34:19Z

I love this, it is challenging, but since I can redo over and over without punishment, it is not frustrating. It was a shame that the same actions did not always lead to the same results, so I had to sometimes retry the same set a couple times until it worked.

Unfortunately I could not finish the second level, since unity kept crashing after a while. I think it was related to the number of rewinds.

Hitting and defeating enemies feels so crunchy, I love it. The explosions are amazing, and every kill is tremendously satisfying. A bit of a challenge curve would have been great, maybe increase the number of enemies over time, or up their health.

Love the pacing and rythm of the gameplay. Was a bit confused initially on how it works (did not grok I can grab them, I just tried leading them into the target area), but that may be on me

Haunted Hollows by Likirus 2022-10-09T16:00:33Z

Really solid foundation! I love how the melee attack creates a dilemma of me wanting to be close to and far from the enemies at the same time. Here is how I think you could take it to the next level (tl:dr: add juice. I realize some of this is already in the post-jam)

0. Make sure players can not outlevel enemies, increasing enemy health exponentially should do it. 1. React on keydown, I guess you used keypress, which happens when I let go of the key, keydown makes it much more immediate. 2. I think the hit-box of the player is a tad large. It is fun if you get to barely squeeze by an enemy without getting hit, I did not experience this, though, rather it felt like they got me a bit to early. 3. Add some form of health indicator for the enemies, could be as simple as a health bar above their head, or you slowly change their sprite to a bloodied one. 4. Add hit-react animations. E.g. change to a different sprite for a frame or two, or just make the entire sprite white for a frame or two. This goes for player and enemy. 5. It was the most fun when I got to slice through a bunch of enemies at once and they all died, make that more common, increase numbers of enemies early on, but hold of on their health and speed longer. 6. Add particles when enemies are hit, and even more when they die. 7. Stain the ground where enemies died, maybe even leave a corpse, but find a way to let it fade into the background so it is clearly distinguishable from live enemies. 8. Screenshake, basically at every time you want to sell some form of impact. I would say a little bit when hitting an enemy, some when killing an enemy, and a LOT when being hit. 9. Make enemy hits happen when the swipe actually passes them, not all at the same time. 10. Sounds when enemies get hit. Make sure they sound nice when a lot go off in quick succession. 11. Sounds when enemies die. Same as above, make sure it sounds nice when a lot of them happen quickly. 12. player animation, start by mirroring the sprite based on movement direction, expand into separate sprites when moving up/down and maybe a separate set for when the player is swinging the weapon.

Viam in tenebris by Bewelge 2022-10-08T18:41:49Z

I absolutely love this. The only thing you could improve is add a reason for me not to stand still and wait on a nice path to show up. Maybe something chasing me.

Manta Fighter by Pincushion 2022-10-08T19:47:38Z

I finished it, and it was fun, despite the confusing controls. I ended up flying away from the planet and turning around so I can re-orient myself.

If you don't want to have the ship to auto-orient so the planet is down, I would suggest adding Q and E to roll left and right respectively, so the player can do that themselves. Basically make A-D control Yaw, W-S control Pitch, and Q-E control Roll.

Solid foundation, next things I would do is make the changes more drastic. Change more things that are immediately obvious, e.g. bullet speed, firing cooldown, reload time, number of enemies. After a while, start changing multiple things at a time, and bias the selection towards making it harder. After that, add some screenshake and crank up the particles.

Cascading Clockwork by DecrementedPalindrome 2022-10-14T22:42:59Z

This was absolutely amazing. For that final level I had to zoom in AND turn down my mouse sensitivity XD. The music and the noise when the direction switches are especially brilliant.

The Bear's Drunken Adventure by crbotnari 2022-10-09T15:39:51Z

"hm, controls kind of weirdly" "let's just say the bear is drunk and ship it" ;). It was fun. I would have liked a little "yay, you made it" at the end, though.
