LD20 — It's Dangerous to Go Alone! Take This!

... Take This Triangle!!! by Jacob 2011-05-04T10:21:00

Very nice! Love the vector graphics and sound, game plays pretty nicely as well (apart from me hating mouse acceleration speed on OSX -_-)

Bad Hotel by jonbro 2011-05-04T09:25:00

Took a few attempts, but then just slipped into the zone...and almost fell into the trap of thinking "actually this is too easy...." until all my shields came tumbling down because I was just building outwards :-/ Nice work man!

The Last Survivor by Benn 2011-05-04T10:42:00

Mechanic is perfect. Very simple and intuitive. Could easily take this concept further! However I do have a soft spot for puzzles.

CaveBot by PJ Pretorius 2011-05-04T08:56:00

Had to restart a few times, not sure why but the last level end didn't seem to work for me the first 2 times even though I collected the keys (bug?). Did get it in the end though! Agree with ladron on the physics, but you can spend a lot of time tweaking that sorta thing ;-) Good work finishing up!

The Legend Of Super Grapple! by bluescrn 2011-05-04T09:51:00

Great game, although a touch hard and punishing - all that effort collecting the gems, once slip of the fingers and it's start over :(

Appy 1000mg by deepnight 2011-05-02T03:33:00

Love it, very dark!

Trashman by Cidolfas 2011-05-04T10:00:00

Enemies would be nice, or even a bit more direction as to what you should be doing. A few plays through and I "sorta" figured it out though :)

"Alone" by natpat 2011-05-06T08:21:00

Cool game, I'll be keeping an eye on the progress you make with it too I think! I do think the levels get a bit difficult too quickly though.

Take It Take It Take This by Rikkard 2011-05-04T09:17:00

Enjoyed this, was a bit tricky trying to work out the best things to give, and it ended up breaking and text not wrapping - meaning I couldn't read everything they said. Great concept though!

Pludum Dary by raver1975 2011-05-04T10:28:00

Crashed after the intro screen for me on OSX too :-(

Armageddon Moochery by mintman 2011-05-04T09:04:00

Really like the concept, but I struggled to figure out a pattern. Managed 8650 in my first go though! Simple graphics work well, especially for the flexing your muscles XD

LD21 — Escape

Lost Psyche by NeiloGD 2011-08-24T06:02:00

I was balancing this game to make it playable with pretty heavy sleep deprivation...and it became quite easy to me. I guess that's what I get for spending the last couple of hours tweaking gameplay in the competition :( Totally needs some improving, and possibly slowing down the graphics a touch to give you more time to respond.

McPixel by Sos 2011-08-27T11:11:00

Awesome AWESOME game! Gags were funny, loved the ending too! I like how it's not immediately obvious, forcing you to just be a bit random and try out things!

Poltergeist by Gib 2011-08-27T10:41:00

Damn you! I had my headphones on quite loud and then it screamed >_< Nice work! Hard game, but I may go check my pants now after that rather loud scream -_-

Prelude of the Chambered by Notch 2011-08-22T02:59:00

Very cool little game that seems like a cross between Wolf3d and Chips Challenge :)

Fred the Astro-Miner by supermaximo93 2011-08-27T10:49:00

Nice little game! Might be my monitor at work, might be intentional, but I struggled to see some of the darker blocks against the background. Still, got to the end. Love the music too :)

Stratus by RichMakeGame 2011-08-27T11:21:00

Great art style, and good tension at the last bit of the game! Felt like I was a bit on rails with being told (well, sorta told) what I needed to be doing next. Could imagine it being turned into a nice full game post-LD :)

LD22 — Alone

Leave my Lettuce Alone :( by NeiloGD 2011-12-19T06:24:00

Only got XP at home (old machines), but I've got Vista in the office, so I'll give it a try out. That might be sufficiently new enough to test.

Leave my Lettuce Alone :( by NeiloGD 2011-12-19T08:22:00

Updated. Silly issue related to threading. Testing on an 8 core Windows Vista machine using threaded rendering. Should be a'ok now :)

Leave my Lettuce Alone :( by NeiloGD 2011-12-20T23:25:00

Oh yeah they are multiplying :P I don't want them to be eaten :'( I am gonna do work on it post LD, so any suggestions made here I will take into account :)

I would tell you the trick, but there is a trick that I figured out whilst playing it. Them leaving in pairs is actually emergent, I didn't code it to do that :P

Leave my Lettuce Alone :( by NeiloGD 2011-12-20T23:26:00

*I would tell you the trick but I don't want to spoil it.

AB-ALONE by SonnyBone 2012-01-09T21:57:00

A pretty solid game! I eventually had to resort to the guide after a few times of being killed by the blue orb, but got there in the end. A few subtle hints to show what is clickable and what not (such as the coconuts), but still excellent work!!

Afrocity Atrocity by Sos 2012-01-06T13:05:00

Note to self, don't have volume too loud on headphones! Really like the music and sounds, but neds more gore ;-)

RGB by Benn 2011-12-21T11:26:00

Nice little game! Addictive little game, graphics work great!

Never Alone Hotline by Pierrec 2011-12-30T06:34:00

Is there a way to run this windowed? It's not playing friendly with VirtualBox :(

Never Alone Hotline by Pierrec 2011-12-30T06:35:00

Oh nevermind, found it :P

Never Alone Hotline by Pierrec 2011-12-30T06:43:00

Really nice little game, simple, fun, and amusing :)

[Greeble] by McFunkypants 2011-12-27T02:34:00

Great work with the graphics and presentation, but it feels like there could be much more to it though. I didn't see the hidden kitten, I may have to have another go to find it.

Cave Wanderer by GreaseMonkey 2011-12-21T12:15:00

The game was a little bland (you did say in it was fucking boring...), but as a programmer I know that it's still a good effort. Good dig at XNA there, and nice one sneaking in that song at the end, it make it worth while ^_^

robot friends by dwrensha 2012-01-06T12:57:00

Couldn't really figure out how to play this either, good idea but a video or tutorial would be helpful.

Final Trip Soccer by Benjamin 2012-01-08T09:27:00

Amazing work!! Very stressful to play at times, especially those bloody green blobs always getting me -_-

Last breath by deepnight 2011-12-27T02:47:00

Beautiful game, atmosphere is great, and , finding it very difficult though!

Last breath by deepnight 2011-12-27T02:48:00

Beautiful game, atmosphere is great, and fluid controls. Finding it very difficult though!

They Hunger by Cell 2012-01-06T12:48:00

Didn't work for me in my VM :(

They Hunger by Cell 2012-01-08T06:15:00

Damn that is hard! Love the limited vision, and simplistic style - excellent work for 5 hours :)

Bomb Defuse by Kaphonaits 2011-12-21T12:26:00

Tee te te te gngugugu. Whilst I wasn't impressed by the game play, my trusty radio buddy, Microsoft Sam, made me laugh! Is there more than just select the tool and click things? Perhaps if the wrong tool made it explode? (I'm sure I misclicked whilst rushing through)

Soliloquy by ratking 2012-01-06T13:40:00

Excellent concept, and actually very intuitive! Great work :)

A Tale of Seven Kittens by sorceress 2011-12-21T11:54:00

Good little game :) Seems quite long, I managed to find 3 of the kittens :( I also wondered about being unable to pick up certain weapons? Do you need to be a high enough level to use certain items?

Alone in the park by iforce2d 2011-12-21T12:20:00

You've nailed the physics. Handles nicely, plays well, and has KITTENS ^_^ (nom nom nom). Please take this one further post-LD :)

Aurea Oceanus by bompo 2012-01-08T08:00:00

Great work, but really difficult!!

Lonely Star by Dietrich Epp 2012-01-08T06:37:00

Great use of the theme, but very frustrating game (I had a lot of trouble just getting to level 2). Style is fantastic, I have quite the soft spot for hand drawn graphics :)

Enslaving Davement by Sean Hogan (anodyne/even the ocean) 2012-01-08T08:07:00

Time limit on the anxiety is a bit harsh, one slight mistake and it's back to the start :( Still though, good little game :)

ToastCat by DeadlyFugu 2011-12-21T11:34:00

Cool idea! I ended up stuck outside of the level a few times though :(

HUG MONSTER by recursive frog 2011-12-21T12:05:00

Found the controls pretty awkward to use, bit of making them a bit less frustrating and it's spot on :)

Tomes of Solitude by Maato 2012-01-08T08:20:00

Enjoyed, but it was a touch annoying having to select the tomes then use them individually.

Flod Embarks by amodo 2011-12-21T11:17:00

Good idea, very cute graphics, music is well done too. Would love to see you take the idea further!

LD23 — Tiny World

Disregard All Humans by Fireblend 2012-05-03T16:11:00

I am always against platformers, but still gave what I think is a fair vote (I did enjoy it). My only real issue is the lack of challenge, I shouldn't be able to win the game in the first play through :)

Fusion Time! by NeiloGD 2012-04-23T14:42:00

marudziik: What hardware you running? I had a few issues on my machine during dev (thus I optimised the particle count a bit).

Kimau: Yeah, I should have probably left the render side effect of the heat a bit stronger. I felt it was too overpowering when you were doing well, so made it weaker, which as a side effect seems to make it not obvious anymore :( I will keep it in mind for the next game :)

Fusion Time! by NeiloGD 2012-04-24T02:44:00

Miltage: Window can be resized, it will handle a different aspect ratio :)

Fusion Time! by NeiloGD 2012-04-24T13:04:00

netmute: I haven't tried in OSX yet, but it may run a'ok with Wine. Haven't tested my engine in that for a while though.

Planet Slightshot by Racura 2012-04-23T09:52:00

9010! Quite tricky to get the hang of, if the camera was zoomed out a little more it might help being able to plan where you want to sling shot.

Survivor by character 2012-05-03T16:27:00

Annoying as all hell trying to win! I gave up, but really enjoyed it! Graphics style is great, very minimalistic, but impacting when you get nommed. Needs some sounds, even just an ambient ocean sound would be cool!

Planet Life by Sos 2012-04-23T13:44:00

I am not sure what I am meant to do with the powers of boot man when I'm the last survivor >_> Is this a trap Sos?

Eye Quest by eigenbom 2012-04-24T03:05:00

Good little game, would have loved to see a few more puzzles though :) Music and art work really well too.

Hero of Rain by the31 2012-04-23T15:21:00

Hope you get round to finishing this!

Colours in the Void by Benn 2012-04-24T14:06:00

Very hard to play, but still didn't stop me from trying! As ratking said, very Bennilistic! Shows people you don't need "fancy" graphics to make a good looking game :)

dLeIaFtEh by Cell 2012-04-23T13:57:00

It is a dumb story, but I still like it. Next time put some enemies in and stuff! Still though, 5h spent on it that's good :)

NaMa Tek by vrld 2012-04-23T15:56:00

Very nice game, but I've noticed that it can be a bit glitchy. I've ran the same bot a couple of times differently to try and work out what is going on logically and it's worked for some reason. Can't pin point what may be the case (delay node related?) but nevermind. I can see where MarekkPie is coming from, seems very SpaceChem inspired, but not quite the same. Love this game :)

NaMa Tek by vrld 2012-04-23T15:58:00

Canard Sauvage: Connect the 2 nodes, select simulate at the top and let it run. Took me a while to figure it out too.

Downsize by Jwatt 2012-04-28T07:39:00

Really like this, struggling a little on the 3rd level. All I can recommend really is to ramp up the difficulty a little slower, but it can be tricky to design good puzzles!

1 Seed by Gemberkoekje 2012-04-23T07:57:00

Good little game! I think it could be improved a little by showing you what class the planets are in the dial around you (perhaps only after visiting?), I found it quite tedious to find the last couple of planets :(

Tiny Defenders by Raptor85 2012-04-24T14:44:00

Liked this one, but it deluded me into thinking I was doing awesomely, then kicked my arse -_-

Fractality by zaratustra 2012-04-23T14:05:00

Love this one! I think I bugged out at one point and got trapped...it seemed to recover and send me into a deeper level. I did get to the end though, very cool idea :)

LD24 — Evolution

Ages of Irving by Deconstructeam 2012-09-16T22:19:00

Brilliant little game, I feel a bit dirty for enjoying playing it though. Top it off with some music and sound, would be even better!

Acts of August: Introspective by NeiloGD 2012-08-28T22:53:00

What video card are you running ButtercupSaiyan?

How Mosquito Became Human by SaintHeiser 2012-09-16T17:27:00

I am not usually a fan of the platformery ones, but love love love this! The bad English I felt add to the humour a bit, gives it a nice feeling of not being serious. Frustrating controls for the most part, but it made it so much more rewarding when I finally completed it. Great work!

LD25 — You are the Villain

Space Restaurant by Cell 2012-12-17T01:06:00

Rank: Troublemaker.

LD26 — Minimalism

TunnelVision by wzl 2013-05-01T12:34:00

If the game crashes, everyone just install the OpenAL runtimes. I've told wzl to pack the DLLs in for future :)

Runtimes: http://connect.creativelabs.com/developer/Wiki/OpenAL%20Installer%20for%20Windows.aspx

LD27 — 10 Seconds

The Path by Dezzles 2013-09-04T10:28:00

Difficult to figure out, but not too bad to get going with.

LD28 — You Only Get One

You only jump once by dqmhose 2013-12-17T10:19:00

Nice and simple, but the lack of determinism each restart can make it quite frustrating as the character can land in a different position to last, causing the same move to have different results each time.

Time Splitters by NeiloGD 2013-12-16T09:50:00

For a quick and dirty AI it's effective enough for an LD game :)

Time Splitters by NeiloGD 2013-12-17T09:48:00

Nah no physical version. Could make one though, would be quicker than coding the logic!

Zestboi Ice Racing by Just_delete_it 2013-12-17T09:53:00

So bloody difficult! Comes together well, but difficulty is like a smack in the face.

Rations, Please! by CosmicAdventureSquad 2013-12-17T10:28:00

Love it :) Would have loves to see some more situations arise besides people offering me more money. I ended up just killing anyone who was old, unemployed, or a student. Call me cold :P

You only get one pixel by Folis 2013-12-17T10:40:00

Awesome idea, straight to number one Folis!

Singular by nerial 2013-12-17T10:03:00

Nice! Simple to pick up, very self explanatory.

LD29 — Beneath the Surface

Refuge by MunkeeBacon 2014-04-30T02:24:00

Nicely polished! Seems that I can't get to the end, or even avoid hitting anything along the way. Makes it seem a bit frustrating since it doesn't feel like it's my fault, more like the game is actually being unfair. Nonetheless I enjoyed it, music and graphics are pretty sweet and the controls are nice and simple.

Pearl Diver by samooJAM 2014-04-29T22:08:00

Like the graphics work, it's simplicity really pays off. I'm not sure the radar was working for me though :(

Root cause by oal 2014-04-28T08:29:00

Nice :) Took a few turns to figure out how to grow roots (by clicking on the water) but after that it was pretty straight forward! Would be nice if a part of the plant could be marked to die off, so if you grew too quickly part of the plant could die off...and then become more sustainable. Mind, could make it too easy too.

SWIM HARD by Spierek 2014-04-28T08:31:00

Tested solo too, but still a fun concept. Very nicely presented game good, clean and simple.

Bio Defence by fued 2014-04-29T07:52:00

Nice! Defo be good with keyboard controls (I'm playing on a laptop with a touch pad).

Dino Digger by Kimau 2014-04-28T08:42:00

Love this. Looking forward to seeing a 3D version as it would be easier to spot how much damage is done to the bones visually. What would be kinda cool is if it worked with a graphics tablet and the pressure affected the tool strength.

Shark Cull 2014 by 2HitAdam 2014-05-04T06:30:00

Nice graphics! Not being able to hold the mouse button down and move the crosshair was slightly annoying, but didn't ruin the game play. Some sounds would really make this game shine.

Shark Cull 2014 by 2HitAdam 2014-05-07T00:24:00

2HitAdam: Was using Chrome.

Shark Cull 2014 by 2HitAdam 2014-05-07T00:24:00

Moving the mouse with the mouse button down just activated selection of stuff not in the game.

Read Between the Tropes by Crowbeak 2014-04-29T08:02:00

Pretty good concept, and good work with the writing. I loved the embarassing password ;)

Tropes I travelled through:

A Day In The Life, Easing Into The Adventure, Elaborate Underground Base, Embarrassing Password, Code Name, Useless Security Camera [Averted], Eternal Engine, Psychic Powers, The Empath, The War Room, Alien Invasion, The Plan, Barrier Maiden, Save This Person, Save The World, Ace Pilot, Humongous Mecha, Fighter Launching Sequence, We Wait

WOOD BIRD EGG DIG by voxel 2014-05-13T12:48:00

Nice little puzzly game! Even for bfxr sounds, they be pretty good.

An Ode to Violence by Benn 2014-04-29T22:01:00

Needs some achievements for multi kills and what not :) Nice simple to play game, and pretty fun too.

Order of the Mind by Crefossus 2014-04-28T09:51:00

Is there a way to give the teddy to the girl? Also is it possible for it to become unplayable/winnable? Good effort btw, really nice to see a text adventure game!

MiniDungeon by superfrog 2014-05-06T23:43:00

Graphics from another game used without credit...not cool. Making it in 9 hours is no excuse, and even for a jam game it's a real jerk move.

Under The Earth by DRAGONMASTER412 2014-04-28T05:07:00

Nice plagiarism there:

http://puu.sh/8qzc7.png

Under The Earth by DRAGONMASTER412 2014-04-28T05:10:00

Or more to say...you should have declared you were basing your code on someone elses before even doing the competition. Checked your journal, you did not declare this.

Sink or Swim by noom 2014-04-28T09:57:00

Cool concept. Could see this being turned into a nice little mobile game with a little effort. As microapple already said, kelp deformation is cool - nice bit of polish :)

Surface Tension by twistedshield 2014-04-28T10:06:00

Really awesome! Simple, easy to play, addictive, and a PITA.

Kontroise by edibletoaster 2014-05-11T10:03:00

This is pretty awesome. Audio is very nicely done, controls are pretty good, visual effects fit really nicely!

Fist of Truth by djdduty 2014-04-28T08:52:00

Haha. I keep getting killed :( I like the style but it lacks in the fun department a little.

Unobtainium by callidus 2014-04-28T08:47:00

Nice and addictive, simple to get the hang of. Got a good strategy going sticking as close to the centre as possible. Seemed to get squished often when respawning though if I fell into a hole :(

Side B, Track 1 by Taugeshtu 2014-04-28T10:02:00

Looks really cool, but I think the controls and physics need a bit of work. Very difficult to control. Visually, this is great I really like it, but make those bikes stick to the ground better and I'll like it more.

Mars by DeathBread 2014-04-30T22:55:00

Controls alright, but I am not sure where it was going...Build times are ridiculously slow, and I encountered no enemies. I'd recommend for LD games to speed up things a little and get games to be playable inside of 10 minutes :) Other than that I can see it being taken somewhere.

Worked fine in Mavericks for me on a 2010 Macbook Pro.

LD30 — Connected Worlds

Benn's Adventure by sorceress 2014-09-06T04:08:00

\o/

Took so damned long, but got Kitty McWhiskerface back! Would have been better if there was a 'fast travel' option to go back to known interdimensional gates, but got there in the end :)

LD31 — Entire Game on One Screen

Automabot Battler by NeiloGD 2014-12-08T06:56:00

Just don't make the bots *too* good ;)

Automabot Battler by NeiloGD 2014-12-08T21:19:00

mrexcessive: The state stuff was sorta put in. Each statement also has an implicit conditional on it, so I've done an example that switches state in an attempt to only evade and heal (the fewer instructions the lower latency on response). I did want to make it a bit more complex and become more programmable by using a simple assembly language, but I felt that would have just complicated things further. Thanks for the feedback though, glad you like the idea!

Automabot Battler by NeiloGD 2014-12-08T21:20:00

By sorta put in, I meant sorta forced in. Was originally just jumps but it was too complicated to work with reliably.

...---... SoS Save Our Snowmen by commanderstitch 2014-12-30T01:09:00

I think telling us who the killer snowman is would be more useful :P As well as making him hide and move around.

Otherwise good job for entering using C++. Works in Wine under Linux too :)

Snowman <3 Kitty by Kimau 2014-12-16T08:41:00

Would like to see some game thrown into this :)

Press Simulator 1964 by 2HitAdam 2014-12-30T01:03:00

I think the concept is great, but as with others a little disappointed it doesn't enforce you write something real. Of course, that is a bunch of work, but even some keyword scanning would have been interesting to make sure I wasn't just going "dkfjdlkjglsjgldgkljdfg".

Might be worth revisiting this one and attempting to try some language analysis to whip it up into a more interesting game.

Metal Killer Bee vs. The Gangstas by zompi 2014-12-30T01:20:00

Nice work, simple and super easy to get into. Sadly I don't use a mouse (trackpad) so it was a bit more difficult to play. Didn't affect my rating though, it's just a bit more challenging.

Also, works with Wine under Linux, good job.

Frustrating and hilarious! Hope people don't just skip past that intro music and experience it all. The presentation is ace! Good spin on the theme too.

Snowman Ski Jump by stevehb 2014-12-30T01:28:00

This is pretty great. The visuals were good, worked really well, some sound would have been nice. Sadly it did seem to be a little buggy (sometimes the slope would vanish, colours would mess up, etc), but other than that great job!

BaG by Kwarf 2014-12-16T08:21:00

I'm afraid I can't rate this one, it launches but sadly I get a screen with only the platforms and not much else: http://imgur.com/CGWsomc

Linux build there is no data folder, and the Windows data folder doesn't work either.

Penthouse Poltergeist by nathanhinchey 2014-12-16T08:34:00

I'd feel unfair rating this, couldn't figure out what to do or if it was a bug. May be a Linux only bug? It opens up a window larger than my monitor and is kinda in fullscreen mode, so clips the top right half of the view.

Space Invaders Platformer by callidus 2014-12-08T09:55:00

Tricky controls, since I was expecting traditional platformer controls. Also spotted some bugs where the things don't get nommed :( Got to about 18 then fell off :( Nice clean looking game though :)

Excellent work here. I was really curious where the game was going, as I didn't read the intention note before hand. Are you using analytics to track what people were choosing at all? I was wondering if you were during to track any biases people may have :)

Oh one quick problem - the game doesn't work with a graphics tablet as a pointing device, so may have accessibility issues (I had to go dig out a mouse to play it, I don't use one due to an injury)

Eurovision: world domination through the power of song by Tijn 2015-05-09T06:29:00

Nice work :) I didn't find it much fun, but I really appreciate the game. Excellent work on doing all the songs in the period, and great work on the clean style of graphics.

Game starts up in a broken startup screen :( You left an ifdef in the game code, so I quickly patched the exe for you: https://www.dropbox.com/s/2mcsyp40sxkxd9b/KimauLD34.7z?dl=0
