... Take This Triangle!!! by Jacob 2011-05-04T10:21:00
Very nice! Love the vector graphics and sound, game plays pretty nicely as well (apart from me hating mouse acceleration speed on OSX -_-)

Very nice! Love the vector graphics and sound, game plays pretty nicely as well (apart from me hating mouse acceleration speed on OSX -_-)
Mechanic is perfect. Very simple and intuitive. Could easily take this concept further! However I do have a soft spot for puzzles.
Had to restart a few times, not sure why but the last level end didn't seem to work for me the first 2 times even though I collected the keys (bug?). Did get it in the end though! Agree with ladron on the physics, but you can spend a lot of time tweaking that sorta thing ;-) Good work finishing up!
Great game, although a touch hard and punishing - all that effort collecting the gems, once slip of the fingers and it's start over :(
Love it, very dark!
Enjoyed this, was a bit tricky trying to work out the best things to give, and it ended up breaking and text not wrapping - meaning I couldn't read everything they said. Great concept though!
Crashed after the intro screen for me on OSX too :-(

Really like the concept, but I struggled to figure out a pattern. Managed 8650 in my first go though! Simple graphics work well, especially for the flexing your muscles XD
I was balancing this game to make it playable with pretty heavy sleep deprivation...and it became quite easy to me. I guess that's what I get for spending the last couple of hours tweaking gameplay in the competition :( Totally needs some improving, and possibly slowing down the graphics a touch to give you more time to respond.
Damn you! I had my headphones on quite loud and then it screamed >_< Nice work! Hard game, but I may go check my pants now after that rather loud scream -_-
Very cool little game that seems like a cross between Wolf3d and Chips Challenge :)
Nice little game! Might be my monitor at work, might be intentional, but I struggled to see some of the darker blocks against the background. Still, got to the end. Love the music too :)
Great art style, and good tension at the last bit of the game! Felt like I was a bit on rails with being told (well, sorta told) what I needed to be doing next. Could imagine it being turned into a nice full game post-LD :)
Only got XP at home (old machines), but I've got Vista in the office, so I'll give it a try out. That might be sufficiently new enough to test.
Updated. Silly issue related to threading. Testing on an 8 core Windows Vista machine using threaded rendering. Should be a'ok now :)
Oh yeah they are multiplying :P I don't want them to be eaten :'( I am gonna do work on it post LD, so any suggestions made here I will take into account :)
I would tell you the trick, but there is a trick that I figured out whilst playing it. Them leaving in pairs is actually emergent, I didn't code it to do that :P
*I would tell you the trick but I don't want to spoil it.
Note to self, don't have volume too loud on headphones! Really like the music and sounds, but neds more gore ;-)
Is there a way to run this windowed? It's not playing friendly with VirtualBox :(
Oh nevermind, found it :P
Really nice little game, simple, fun, and amusing :)
Great work with the graphics and presentation, but it feels like there could be much more to it though. I didn't see the hidden kitten, I may have to have another go to find it.
The game was a little bland (you did say in it was fucking boring...), but as a programmer I know that it's still a good effort. Good dig at XNA there, and nice one sneaking in that song at the end, it make it worth while ^_^
Couldn't really figure out how to play this either, good idea but a video or tutorial would be helpful.
Amazing work!! Very stressful to play at times, especially those bloody green blobs always getting me -_-
Beautiful game, atmosphere is great, and , finding it very difficult though!
Beautiful game, atmosphere is great, and fluid controls. Finding it very difficult though!
Didn't work for me in my VM :(
Damn that is hard! Love the limited vision, and simplistic style - excellent work for 5 hours :)
Tee te te te gngugugu. Whilst I wasn't impressed by the game play, my trusty radio buddy, Microsoft Sam, made me laugh! Is there more than just select the tool and click things? Perhaps if the wrong tool made it explode? (I'm sure I misclicked whilst rushing through)
Good little game :) Seems quite long, I managed to find 3 of the kittens :( I also wondered about being unable to pick up certain weapons? Do you need to be a high enough level to use certain items?
You've nailed the physics. Handles nicely, plays well, and has KITTENS ^_^ (nom nom nom). Please take this one further post-LD :)
Great work, but really difficult!!
Great use of the theme, but very frustrating game (I had a lot of trouble just getting to level 2). Style is fantastic, I have quite the soft spot for hand drawn graphics :)
Time limit on the anxiety is a bit harsh, one slight mistake and it's back to the start :( Still though, good little game :)
Cool idea! I ended up stuck outside of the level a few times though :(
Found the controls pretty awkward to use, bit of making them a bit less frustrating and it's spot on :)
Enjoyed, but it was a touch annoying having to select the tomes then use them individually.
Good idea, very cute graphics, music is well done too. Would love to see you take the idea further!
I am always against platformers, but still gave what I think is a fair vote (I did enjoy it). My only real issue is the lack of challenge, I shouldn't be able to win the game in the first play through :)
marudziik: What hardware you running? I had a few issues on my machine during dev (thus I optimised the particle count a bit).
Kimau: Yeah, I should have probably left the render side effect of the heat a bit stronger. I felt it was too overpowering when you were doing well, so made it weaker, which as a side effect seems to make it not obvious anymore :( I will keep it in mind for the next game :)
Miltage: Window can be resized, it will handle a different aspect ratio :)
netmute: I haven't tried in OSX yet, but it may run a'ok with Wine. Haven't tested my engine in that for a while though.
9010! Quite tricky to get the hang of, if the camera was zoomed out a little more it might help being able to plan where you want to sling shot.
I am not sure what I am meant to do with the powers of boot man when I'm the last survivor >_> Is this a trap Sos?
Hope you get round to finishing this!
Very hard to play, but still didn't stop me from trying! As ratking said, very Bennilistic! Shows people you don't need "fancy" graphics to make a good looking game :)
Very nice game, but I've noticed that it can be a bit glitchy. I've ran the same bot a couple of times differently to try and work out what is going on logically and it's worked for some reason. Can't pin point what may be the case (delay node related?) but nevermind. I can see where MarekkPie is coming from, seems very SpaceChem inspired, but not quite the same. Love this game :)
Good little game! I think it could be improved a little by showing you what class the planets are in the dial around you (perhaps only after visiting?), I found it quite tedious to find the last couple of planets :(
Liked this one, but it deluded me into thinking I was doing awesomely, then kicked my arse -_-
Love this one! I think I bugged out at one point and got trapped...it seemed to recover and send me into a deeper level. I did get to the end though, very cool idea :)
Brilliant little game, I feel a bit dirty for enjoying playing it though. Top it off with some music and sound, would be even better!
What video card are you running ButtercupSaiyan?
I am not usually a fan of the platformery ones, but love love love this! The bad English I felt add to the humour a bit, gives it a nice feeling of not being serious. Frustrating controls for the most part, but it made it so much more rewarding when I finally completed it. Great work!
Rank: Troublemaker.
If the game crashes, everyone just install the OpenAL runtimes. I've told wzl to pack the DLLs in for future :)
Runtimes: http://connect.creativelabs.com/developer/Wiki/OpenAL%20Installer%20for%20Windows.aspx
Nice and simple, but the lack of determinism each restart can make it quite frustrating as the character can land in a different position to last, causing the same move to have different results each time.
For a quick and dirty AI it's effective enough for an LD game :)
Nah no physical version. Could make one though, would be quicker than coding the logic!
So bloody difficult! Comes together well, but difficulty is like a smack in the face.
Love it :) Would have loves to see some more situations arise besides people offering me more money. I ended up just killing anyone who was old, unemployed, or a student. Call me cold :P
Awesome idea, straight to number one Folis!
Nicely polished! Seems that I can't get to the end, or even avoid hitting anything along the way. Makes it seem a bit frustrating since it doesn't feel like it's my fault, more like the game is actually being unfair. Nonetheless I enjoyed it, music and graphics are pretty sweet and the controls are nice and simple.
Like the graphics work, it's simplicity really pays off. I'm not sure the radar was working for me though :(
Nice :) Took a few turns to figure out how to grow roots (by clicking on the water) but after that it was pretty straight forward! Would be nice if a part of the plant could be marked to die off, so if you grew too quickly part of the plant could die off...and then become more sustainable. Mind, could make it too easy too.
Nice! Defo be good with keyboard controls (I'm playing on a laptop with a touch pad).
Love this. Looking forward to seeing a 3D version as it would be easier to spot how much damage is done to the bones visually. What would be kinda cool is if it worked with a graphics tablet and the pressure affected the tool strength.
Nice graphics! Not being able to hold the mouse button down and move the crosshair was slightly annoying, but didn't ruin the game play. Some sounds would really make this game shine.
2HitAdam: Was using Chrome.
Moving the mouse with the mouse button down just activated selection of stuff not in the game.
Pretty good concept, and good work with the writing. I loved the embarassing password ;)
Tropes I travelled through:
A Day In The Life, Easing Into The Adventure, Elaborate Underground Base, Embarrassing Password, Code Name, Useless Security Camera [Averted], Eternal Engine, Psychic Powers, The Empath, The War Room, Alien Invasion, The Plan, Barrier Maiden, Save This Person, Save The World, Ace Pilot, Humongous Mecha, Fighter Launching Sequence, We Wait
Nice little puzzly game! Even for bfxr sounds, they be pretty good.
Needs some achievements for multi kills and what not :) Nice simple to play game, and pretty fun too.
Is there a way to give the teddy to the girl? Also is it possible for it to become unplayable/winnable? Good effort btw, really nice to see a text adventure game!
Graphics from another game used without credit...not cool. Making it in 9 hours is no excuse, and even for a jam game it's a real jerk move.
Nice plagiarism there:

Or more to say...you should have declared you were basing your code on someone elses before even doing the competition. Checked your journal, you did not declare this.
Cool concept. Could see this being turned into a nice little mobile game with a little effort. As microapple already said, kelp deformation is cool - nice bit of polish :)
Really awesome! Simple, easy to play, addictive, and a PITA.
This is pretty awesome. Audio is very nicely done, controls are pretty good, visual effects fit really nicely!
Haha. I keep getting killed :( I like the style but it lacks in the fun department a little.
Nice and addictive, simple to get the hang of. Got a good strategy going sticking as close to the centre as possible. Seemed to get squished often when respawning though if I fell into a hole :(
Looks really cool, but I think the controls and physics need a bit of work. Very difficult to control. Visually, this is great I really like it, but make those bikes stick to the ground better and I'll like it more.
Controls alright, but I am not sure where it was going...Build times are ridiculously slow, and I encountered no enemies. I'd recommend for LD games to speed up things a little and get games to be playable inside of 10 minutes :) Other than that I can see it being taken somewhere.
Worked fine in Mavericks for me on a 2010 Macbook Pro.
\o/
Took so damned long, but got Kitty McWhiskerface back! Would have been better if there was a 'fast travel' option to go back to known interdimensional gates, but got there in the end :)
Just don't make the bots *too* good ;)
mrexcessive: The state stuff was sorta put in. Each statement also has an implicit conditional on it, so I've done an example that switches state in an attempt to only evade and heal (the fewer instructions the lower latency on response). I did want to make it a bit more complex and become more programmable by using a simple assembly language, but I felt that would have just complicated things further. Thanks for the feedback though, glad you like the idea!
By sorta put in, I meant sorta forced in. Was originally just jumps but it was too complicated to work with reliably.
I think telling us who the killer snowman is would be more useful :P As well as making him hide and move around.
Otherwise good job for entering using C++. Works in Wine under Linux too :)
Would like to see some game thrown into this :)
I think the concept is great, but as with others a little disappointed it doesn't enforce you write something real. Of course, that is a bunch of work, but even some keyword scanning would have been interesting to make sure I wasn't just going "dkfjdlkjglsjgldgkljdfg".
Might be worth revisiting this one and attempting to try some language analysis to whip it up into a more interesting game.
Nice work, simple and super easy to get into. Sadly I don't use a mouse (trackpad) so it was a bit more difficult to play. Didn't affect my rating though, it's just a bit more challenging.
Also, works with Wine under Linux, good job.
Frustrating and hilarious! Hope people don't just skip past that intro music and experience it all. The presentation is ace! Good spin on the theme too.
This is pretty great. The visuals were good, worked really well, some sound would have been nice. Sadly it did seem to be a little buggy (sometimes the slope would vanish, colours would mess up, etc), but other than that great job!
I'm afraid I can't rate this one, it launches but sadly I get a screen with only the platforms and not much else: http://imgur.com/CGWsomc

Any ideas?
Linux build there is no data folder, and the Windows data folder doesn't work either.
I'd feel unfair rating this, couldn't figure out what to do or if it was a bug. May be a Linux only bug? It opens up a window larger than my monitor and is kinda in fullscreen mode, so clips the top right half of the view.
Tricky controls, since I was expecting traditional platformer controls. Also spotted some bugs where the things don't get nommed :( Got to about 18 then fell off :( Nice clean looking game though :)
Will play later, but I've built it up for Linux for ya and had a quick look at the bugs in valgrind. See #ludumdare, I left messages with yaib :)

Excellent work here. I was really curious where the game was going, as I didn't read the intention note before hand. Are you using analytics to track what people were choosing at all? I was wondering if you were during to track any biases people may have :)
Oh one quick problem - the game doesn't work with a graphics tablet as a pointing device, so may have accessibility issues (I had to go dig out a mouse to play it, I don't use one due to an injury)
Nice work :) I didn't find it much fun, but I really appreciate the game. Excellent work on doing all the songs in the period, and great work on the clean style of graphics.
Game starts up in a broken startup screen :( You left an ifdef in the game code, so I quickly patched the exe for you: https://www.dropbox.com/s/2mcsyp40sxkxd9b/KimauLD34.7z?dl=0
