LD19 — Discovery

Soundman Stepper by jonbro 2010-12-20T12:39:00

Ah, I will see if I can get a osx ppc build out, and windows too. The source link is correct, you just need to dig in to it to get to the right file. Apps/my_apps/blud will build the correct thing. Sorry for the confusion.

Stripes by littlehacksaw 2010-12-23T01:21:00

I loved the music man, so good.

Painless by bear 2010-12-23T17:31:00

I could not beat the third segment.

nice super old skool graphics tho, I liked.

Attack of the time travelling pygmy from outer paleolithic (aka Time Pygmy) by deepnight 2010-12-23T00:27:00

Nice one man. It reminded me a ton of achievement unlocked. Also count me among the people that couldnt figure out how to get the key.

Voyage of Discovery by alexlarioza 2010-12-23T01:22:00

I couldnt get the numpad to work no matter how hard I tried. I really want to play it though :{

1492Island by Valandre 2010-12-23T00:47:00

the ship launching is super cool, as is the exploring of the island mechanic. Very nice all around.

BEARoNAUT by uncade 2010-12-23T01:25:00

these graphics are sweet. I was kinda unclear on how to execel at the game though.

Sprawl by OneHP 2010-12-23T00:32:00

I liked the random level generation, but I thought that there could be some amount of difficulty added to the game, most likely by the enemies moving faster towards you.

Husk by Jonathan Whiting 2010-12-23T00:41:00

I had difficulty with the scale of the second level. Either a mini map or some type of signage would have been nice. I suppose I could have busted out the graph paper though. I really think that it fit the theme and had a good tension with the battery running out though.

LD20 — It's Dangerous to Go Alone! Take This!

Curse Of The Golden Pearl by Hamumu 2011-05-04T13:48:00

a pretty polished game for the amount of time. You must know what you are doing. I felt that the difficulty ramped up pretty darn quick on some of my plays, but not so much on others. is the world randomly generated?

Thank You Hobo by Chris Zamanillo 2011-05-02T21:49:00

nice arena shooter! I felt like there was a bit of super crate box going on with the constantly switching weapons.

One thing that I had difficulty with was the fact that I kept getting stuck in the environment, like on a gravestone or something like that.

Bad Hotel by jonbro 2011-05-05T12:24:00

Ah it is probably the sucky game designer, not you. :)

Laser cats VS Zombie rats by Jesper Oskarsson 2011-05-02T13:44:00

pretty awesome. I feel like I may have played a game like this before, but I can't put my finger on it. I like how every level feels beatable, but is still pretty hard. Really good design though.

If I had suggestions for how to improve, maybe a bit more juiciness, even a bit of lerping around the map would be nice.

The Last Survivor by Benn 2011-05-06T09:56:00

I think that just the tiniest touch of particle effects or graphical juice could really help this a ton. The game is brilliant, I loved the last level.

Kobold Goes Alone by NMcCoy 2011-05-02T21:31:00

yay! I was able to play it. Really nice. I felt like there was a standard strategy to beating all of the enemies, hit and jump. That said, the strategy didn't get me past the 7th level. I did really like the feeling of the controls though, and the graphics are awesome.

Wild Forest by haqu 2011-05-06T09:59:00

was a bit hard to see some of the monsters, and I would have liked to see something else here. The graphics are beyond beautiful though.

Atomic Pinball by Toeofdoom 2011-05-06T10:05:00

what the confused!!! it is like the craziest multiball ever, where you have to bind specific balls. I wonder if pinball skill would help.

I think that when the platformer plan failed, just make a sweet pinball game and forget the whole science thing. You might be trying to load too much stuff on top of a mechanic.

Against the Wall by Acheron 2011-05-02T10:59:00

I would like to double the request to a webplayer build.

Against the Wall by Acheron 2011-05-23T14:51:00

pretty good idea! I found it a bit hard to play though. I didn't have the patience for the bricks to slide all the way out and died off of that a few times.

Waterfall Rescue by Switchbreak 2011-05-06T09:34:00

Man that leap over the helicopter in stage 3... so sick. I liked how quick it was to get back into the game, and the graphics are sparse and excellent.

The two nitpicky things I have with this game are some of the jumps seem unfair, perhaps if you decelerated as you swung up, it would make the timing feel more natural. The other thing that bugged me was that the chain would sometimes get out of sync. That was only a visual thing, since it didn't effect your jump at all.

Nano Seed by machinas 2011-05-06T09:40:00

like some other commenters, I was confused by what happens after you collect the seeds. But yeah your explanation makes sense. Would like to see this with more development.

the Child by Dark Acre Jack 2011-05-06T09:22:00

awesome sound and graphics. Like dang, the talking patient... so good. I felt like the premise was a bit stretched thin over the number of levels present, and would like to see how you would approach adding depth.

Innocence by LegacyCrono 2011-05-23T14:44:00

MAN THAT WAS HARD! I struggle with difficulty balancing myself, but I wonder if the idea from nmccoy would help with this, waking up first thing in the morning and playing it to see if you can get through it.

Also a few shmup touches, if there was a tiny bit of acceleration that applied to your ship I think that would help the feel a ton..

Lonely Pods by k_wright 2011-05-23T15:08:00

pretty nice, I found that it was a bit difficult to control however. I kept overshooting where I wanted to go.

Dungeon Runners by Valandre 2011-05-02T10:27:00

Super nice graphics, there was a bit of tedium jumping through the empty dungeon to get back to the doors once I got the keys. Over all very nice.

The Heart is Safe by intmain 2011-05-03T07:13:00

I like it, very solid little game. I was a bit confused about what to do with the black cats, and things seemed to get really crazy when I respawned (so many explosions I couldn't tell where my character was.)

"Alone" by natpat 2011-05-02T13:36:00

that is some clever game programming there. I am impressed by how deep you were able to make it in 48hrs. Also, as others have said, nice sprites!

A Steampunk Axebot Supply Run by matthias_zarzecki 2011-05-23T14:39:00

nice fun variation on missiles to destroy. I wonder if you could have gone a bit deeper on the concept, it reminds me in some ways of the AC-130 support missions from COD... if you were perhaps moving over the landscape, or your missiles could switch between offensive and defensive, but it would cut into your profits somehow.

Take One of These by Kynrael 2011-05-04T14:04:00

I think that I ran into the bug where my health never went down as well. I just needed to reload the game a few times and then it was smooth sailing through every level. Cool roguelike though, I don't have a ton of experience with the genre outside of desktop dungeons, but this seems like the way I expect a rogue like to work :)

Entity by LeafThief 2011-05-05T18:19:00

beyond beautiful graphics. beyond beautiful audio.

I was also confused by the gameplay. I think that you could potentially solve this by labeling things in the first level (stay near this, stay away from this, press x now, etc). I wonder too about some other things, like it seems like I can never remove the faces from my hit bar, even if I am in an aura... maybe changing the aura to recharge both your bars not just the aloneness bar.

overall, beautiful, amazing first LD.

Recursive Questing by Johnicholas 2011-05-04T13:31:00

sooo... I tried to play it. Any time I went into any cave except for the one on the first screen, and it would read out the first live of the message, then stop, and I couldn't do anything further. At that point it started to feel a bit TOWLR-y

Mittens by VascoF 2011-05-02T21:55:00

WHAT A TWIST! I shouldn't give away the whole thing but I liked both of the twists. Also your music is mayhem. Also the fact that you fell slower when you attacked.

Super Shotgun Deathrace by qrunchmonkey 2011-05-06T09:45:00

kept waiting for the other shoe to drop. I think the only thing you could have done is make the key to skip the end game screen something different. I kept missing it! Also did that screen have more jokes on it?

Sprung by shiftingParadigms 2011-05-02T10:35:00

man that third level is HARRRD. way to write this all in javascript, and get 3d graphics as well. I was also having that difficultly with the mouse tracking slowly... I think that manshoots have gotten me tuned to super fast mouse tracking.

Breathing Room by Shaun Inman 2011-05-06T10:09:00

The graphics are great, I just wonder how much deeper this can go than a simple twitch mechanic? Like maybe you could have a stimulant inhaler? or the effects of the inhaler only effect a certain bubble around you? And then you start getting into braid :)

Drum Hammer Dig by trialbyfun 2011-08-25T12:03:00

very cool audio, I love it. Wish I had found this during the actual compo, rather than several months later.

Air Pirates by hamster_mk_4 2011-05-23T15:03:00

awesome! there seems to be a bug where the enemies just stop spawning after a certain point. Other than that, super great! awesome graphics.

The feeling of the plane is a tiny bit off as well, if there was some sort of acceleration to the turning and speed changing, that would be nice.

SHARE-IFF by Farfin 2011-05-04T13:39:00

I was a bit confused. Was able to deputize people, but why would I want to sit down? also, the train was really hard to find (I never found it).

Liquid Choices by DeanoC 2011-05-02T11:15:00

holy crap man, what a game. The building / moving component is a bit hard, but the water pressure thing is super cool. It was a bit hard to figure out exactly how to get the turbines spinning, like which direction to bring the water in from. An interesting idea though reminds me a bunch of: http://fallingsandgame.com/sand/pyro.html

Aussie Puncharoo by avatare 2011-05-02T16:16:00

whoa, a phone game... I wish I could play this.

Dangerous Dan by DrunkenOrc 2011-05-02T11:25:00

man, this was the best writing I have seen in an LD so far, way to go.

A fine day in the parking lot by DoktorAce 2011-05-02T10:50:00

I love the graphical style! so glad to see photographs + 3d + rotoscoping. Hella dope. I had some difficulty seeing what was going on though, it got really dark.

Grave Robbers by adamatomic 2011-05-06T09:13:00

so painful for a dvorak user! super fun though. I wish you had time to give the little guys walk animations, or at least fedoras :)

Bonifaco's Bazaar by johanp 2011-05-02T13:50:00

So good. This kept me up super late last night playing. Man it is brutally hard, but I think I might be able to get through it now that I am at work and have an external mouse.

LD21 — Escape

Flee Buster by ChevyRay 2011-08-22T18:06:00

pretty great take on the micro game. I like it a ton.

Fuck El Dorado! Let's get the hell outta here!!1 by deps 2011-08-22T15:47:00

awesome graphics, way to continue a series of games. Love the little messages at the bottom of the screen as well.

Martin vs Monty by jonbro 2011-08-23T09:16:00

hey folks that signed up for the ios thing... please register an ipad if you have one, this is ipad only right now.

Martin vs Monty by jonbro 2011-08-24T15:23:00

there is now an osx download.

Martin vs Monty by jonbro 2011-08-30T02:49:00

Cirrial: I think I agree with you, totally hard to play this single player... I wonder if there is the pong racquet ball equivalent that I could figure out for this.

Escape from Ludum Dare by AbelToy 2011-08-22T12:17:00

oh my goodness, this is incredible. I couldn't beat the protect the princess.

Streetlights, People by BleuLlama 2011-08-25T12:16:00

I was actually able to get it to build using xcode 3 somehow. A cute game, but it seemed like there wasn't too much of a challenge. I was able to make it a ton through the levels without things getting hard. I think that would be the number one thing to do with this if you could.

Escape from Dorf Bay by KavuDX 2011-08-25T12:34:00

I couldn't get past the fridge, there wasn't an arrow there... was this something I should keep clicking on?

Hello?? by Jhelle 2011-08-23T12:48:00

I liked the way the room changed as the person described it to you. However, I wonder if the game could have a bit more going on puzzle wise.

We'd like it if you Stay by Sebby 2011-08-25T14:46:00

I think that you could speed up the game a whole ton without much problem. I don't know how unity works, but I imagine that it would be nice if there was a one to one mouse move to brick move speed.

Cool puzzles though, I would like to see this get taken further.

SurfN-2-Sur5 by Daniel X. Moore 2011-08-22T09:10:00

Awesome! reminds me a ton of the surfing section in california games.

A tale about life, death and a looser. by deepnight 2011-08-24T21:15:00

nice visual comic book... I wanted to exhaust the tree, but I didn't want to wait for fade ins. I wonder if there is a way to fix that without killing the mood.

Mindbane by LegacyCrono 2011-08-24T18:24:00

holy crap, what a game.

Super punishing, but a really nice progression of difficulty as well. I liked / hated the blind jumps at the end.

The only two quibbles I have were the hitbox seemed about 3 pixels too big (that may have just been the difficulty though) and I couldn't figure out the difference between the down and up keys.

Crystal Conduit by Daz 2011-08-24T21:22:00

this was really really hard. I couldn't beat it. I gave up because I kept having to redo a ton of level without so much payoff. Perhaps you could add checkpoints near the various challenges. (was that what the red balls were?)

Graphics wise, there was a ton there, the only feedback I could give is perhaps you could distinguish what is background and foreground a bit, things sometimes seemed to be walls that were not.

Mountain above the clouds by trialbyfun 2011-08-25T12:08:00

super beautiful. I bet you could make this into a winning iphone game without too much work. It might be cool to make it a endless arcade style thing, rather than a bunch of level.

/ ESCAPE \ by schonstal 2011-08-23T13:19:00

Amazing graphics and sound. I like the single button too. Things seem to be a little bit unfair at a certain point though.

FuhFuhFire! by Radiatoryang 2011-08-25T12:51:00

I had difficulty with both the extinguisher, and finding the victims, but I did really enjoy the graphics and the audio. I think something like a minimap to help me find the next person would be really awesome. Great job!

The Complex by Erifdex 2011-08-22T15:44:00

pretty awesome, it would have been cool to have checkpoints so that you don't go all the way back when you die.

Asplosions! by blahoink 2011-08-22T09:04:00

nice man. I got stuck on the "build a tower to escape" level. Really good concept though!

Escape from the Tower by beeglebug 2011-08-22T18:09:00

it seemed like I couldn't die! The graphics are great.

Daring Do! by jwfrosty 2011-08-25T14:33:00

I like the level design, but it seems a bit less frantic than it should. The scene that you are covering here made it seem like indy was barely in control. Otherwise a nice start!

Daring Do! by jwfrosty 2011-08-25T20:41:00

jwfrosty: I think what makes it not feel frantic to me is the speed of the character. Like when I get hit by an arrow it isn't my bad reaction time, it is my perception of how fast video game characters move, and this guy just isn't moving quite fast enough. It would probably take a few tweaks to get everything faster, but I think it might be good.

Daring Do! by jwfrosty 2011-08-28T12:06:00

er, I mean, it would make an already great game better... sorry, I should proofread for possible misconstruism.

The Life of Borgy by RebelMoogle 2011-08-24T20:59:00

what were your problems with lua?

I really liked the background graphics, I think you could change the foreground to match them. Now that you have the first level of the game, I would like to see where you can go with the mechanics that you have setup.

Freeway escape by Bartje321 2011-08-24T15:47:00

super cool! I liked the graphics and the damage effects. I wonder if by making the traffic more sparse, and adding more cops and good samaritans that came out of nowhere and tried to run you off the road if that would make it more exciting. Also ocasional intersections, or the opportunity to jump the median and run against trafic.

haha, tons of dumb ideas from me... too many police chases on tv.

Stratus by RichMakeGame 2011-08-22T08:56:00

whoa! this is beautiful!

Escape from Dr. Evilface's Maze by Blayzeing 2011-08-24T18:30:00

I also had difficulty with this game, it seems like the gun didn't work? Was ammo required?

I managed to get up to 205 though just by running around.

Escape from Dr. Evilface's Maze by Blayzeing 2011-08-24T18:30:00

those were cool animations at the beginning though.

=-=Solar Escape=-= by Lenthan 2011-08-23T12:53:00

Ha! this reminds me of www.kongregate.com/games/FreakyZoid/run-from-the-sun but in a more simplified control way.

I like the natural difficulty of the planets getting harder to hit the faster you are, but man does it get really really hard up there toward esc velocity. maybe increase the rate of earths as the velocity goes higher?

Skank by skankparty2 2011-08-22T13:37:00

lol, I can't figure out what is happening!

LD23 — Tiny World

6 Degrees of Sabotage by dukope 2012-04-23T08:43:00

very cool. It was a bit hard to see some of the characters, as they got covered up by the ones in front of them. I also forgot who the 6th person in the chain was which caused problems at the end. Amazing graphics for a weekend project!

Pale Blue Dot by tametick 2012-04-23T08:55:00

haha, silly. It took me a while to figure out that I was controlling the rings. It also took a while to figure out what the costs actually were. I do like these strange tower defense variations that you are making though, you should keep doing them!

Pale Blue Dot by tametick 2012-04-23T09:02:00

ah, also high score of 25 ships saved, 257 asteroids destroyed.

Pale Blue Dot by tametick 2012-04-23T14:23:00

lean into it man. I really enjoyed pakkuman defense, and now this. Your month for TD! Do another one quick before the magic wears off.

Dr. Biology's Educational Game by Draknek 2012-04-23T10:35:00

I like it! Discovering the multipush rule is a nice touch.

LD26 — Minimalism

Problem Attic by ella guro 2013-04-30T11:47:00

gave it a play.

Your music is beautiful as always, those chords in the hub world are excellent, and the voices that are in the background are great.

I got stuck in the red world with the moving platforms. I liked that I could stand on top of the +glitch and ride it up to the exit, but I didn't get off of it in time, and it crushed me to the ceiling. Would have like to seen more of the game, it was just too much for me to get past that section :(

Mind the Gap by shiprib 2013-04-30T12:03:00

interesting! I thought the difficulty curved up a bit too slowly, but I enjoyed the process of laying out the lines. I wonder if having barriers that you have to route around might add something interesting to the game?

untitled by OneSadCookie 2013-04-27T08:10:00

haha, it is true, this is a real look at the human condition.

LD27 — 10 Seconds

I Am Time Bomb by LegacyCrono 2013-09-05T12:31:00

ok, feedback! (couch this however you want, just want to give you some critique).

there doesn't seem like a bunch of space for meaningful decisions in the game. Since most of the pickups have physics attached to them, it is difficult to intentionally place things, and since you can't reorder your inventory, you might as well just be given a bunch of random drops up front. Two ways to deal with this that I can think of: make the pickups not bounce around, and in fact just have one pickup. If you had more than one pickup, things that interact in the explosion phase would be pretty amazing. This may have been in the game already, and I didn't notice it, but what I could tell is that most of the pickups effected the countdown phase. this game seems like it would be more interesting if it was a multiplayer version of every extend, where there was some danger and risk to tightening up your placement too much, because another player could steal it from you.

Also (and I know this is from the LD theme, so feel free to ignore) the time limit is working against it. If there was some hidden bidding process to ending the game (like two players need to press a secondary button), then I think that interesting strategies could emerge.
