Yeaa! Love2D!
Has potential, but hard to comment on it in its current state. I've love to see you keep working at this post jam :)
Good that you can now finish the level. I was really surprised when I could suddenly move the boxes and was free! :D 4*
This has neat portal-vibe, and the music is quite fitting. Unfortunately it's quite short, and the jumping is kinda flaky.
Wow thanks for the input. I'll try to continue working on it, although I might port it to another framework, as I had problems with Lua (maybe C++/some Library.)
Not a fan of the gameplay/controls. Jumping from a standstill feels incredibly weak, and jumping while moving feels ridiculously overpowered. Great music and I liked the signs/humor/vibe, though.
what were your problems with lua?
I really liked the background graphics, I think you could change the foreground to match them. Now that you have the first level of the game, I would like to see where you can go with the mechanics that you have setup.
The gravity was a little too moon-like for me but I otherwise liked the feel of the game, especially the way you could impulse-slam into walls and bounce off them a little :).
This would be more fun if you were escaping from something, say an enemy or rising water, etc. It seems pretty pointless when escaping the room I'm in just takes me to another (well, the same) room to escape (but you already said it's not done).
The graphics were cohesive and the background was really good. I really like the sad expression on the robot and his animation. Good choice of chip-tunes. Great entry for a fellow first-timer :).
@jonbro
I'm just not used to LUA-think, I usually only program in C++ (and some C#), and LUA is a bit different. (esp the way it handles object oriented programming).
Thank you all for the kind words, I will try my best next time to make something more complete. :)
Controls don't seem to work. Space only drives me forward/right real fast and bumps into the first step. Both .exe and .love.
Nice music and paintings!! The controls are too slow and it's too easy to lose focus.. but nice nice..
