Love the mechanic! I like how the button is so in-your-face but is definitely trickier to get to than meets the eye. Would love to see this kind of platforming explored more.

Thanks for the comments, folks. Yeah sorry it's so hard, it turned out way more difficult than I intended. The switching between games turned out super hard! I made it a bit easier in that it will only switch once the platformer characters are on the ground, and also made it display that meter on the bottom so you can time thing correctly, but it's still a really difficult game.
If anybody has any specific suggestions of how I could tweak it to make it a bit more beginner friendly, I'd love to hear them!
@Fififox Thanks! Yeah unfortunately I always get so distracted and forget to post in the journal on the site... and when I do remember, I never really know what to put up.
Next time I'll try to be a bit more involved and share WIP stuff as I go along, since that's always fun to see.
Oh wow! Really nice quality, good polish and really cool style.
Cute game, makes me dizzy/sick to play it though, something to do with the player's fixed y-position and the scrolling.
Player's collision area might work better if it was a bit more generous (sometimes I died by accidentally just nicking a wall with the back of my ship, when I meant to ninja-ishly scoot around the back of it, and felt cheated).
Cute graphics, I have no idea what the story is in this but my imagination fills in the blanks for me!
The gameplay could use some tweaking here and there, particularly for enemy/collectible spawning (make it so food never appears right next to enemies or below ones low to the ground, otherwise it is impossible to get). Then again, perhaps those serve as temptation.
Great work, nice high-res 2D graphics.
VDZ: yeah i tried to attempt too much, now i'm utterly disappointed in the lack of audio and the difficulty level.
pretty bummed, but at least i got an end screen in there, too bad it bored you so bad.
wanted to do something more ambitious than my typical shittyass game
Jiggawatt: thanks, I actually have a lot of code "cheats" i use to make animations look smoother and reduce the amount of drawing I have to do, i'll write about those in my post-mortem.
Jacic: Yeah it's too hard, post-compo version will have LOTS of difficulty tweaks :P didn't have time to playtest a stupid metroidvania game haha.
Very cool, I love upgrade stacking! These kinds of systems are fun, and I like playing with different combinations.
That said, if you can't find a way to remove the lighting lag completely, take it out. It pretty much made the game unplayable for me (freezing every second or so for a moment), and I'd love to play more.
Before anybody asks: Minimal = Mini Animal.
