LD20 — It's Dangerous to Go Alone! Take This!

Many Small Hands by amassingham 2011-05-10T18:45:00

I liked the game, though I felt that by going together it was more dangerous for the orphans to get caught. Maybe I didn't grok all there was to this game - the menu screen was a bit confusing (but I did see all the useful info ;)). I adore the music and I love the Oliver-Twist-kinda setting. Good job.

Wild Forest by haqu 2011-05-10T19:08:00

I like that you made the theme into a mechanic, yet it says: "It's dangerous to go alone" not impossible ;)
Good work!

Red by elbowroom 2011-05-10T18:57:00

It bothered me that as soon as my cursor left the green that the character would stop. Apart from that I think it fits the theme pretty good.

Entity by LeafThief 2011-05-24T06:39:00

Thanks everyone for voting AND thanks to all of you who took the time to comment this. Entity made #6 Community (together with Clone Wolf) and #10 in Graphics.

I see now that the gameplay was indeed hard to understand and that I should've eased the player into the game. On the other hand - as JosephKnight.com pointed out - figuring it out was part of the game - but I suppose the timespan before loosing was too short.
I'm currently busy with my master thesis, but as soon as it's done, I'd like to polish this: with a proper tutorial and a proper length this can be what it intended to be in the first place: A game "commentary".

Thanks again - if you want to keep in touch: @leafthief (twitter)

Never Alone Hotline by Pierrec 2011-12-19T07:26:00

It was a good read. Again nice meta aspects in there. Fitting the theme nicely!

LD26 — Minimalism

Undercolor Agents by farmergnome 2013-05-16T10:51:00

Very solid entry. It was both fun and a challenge. Good job :)

Arco by lightspeedlucas 2013-04-30T20:22:00

I played this on a Nexus 7 and I have to tell you: I enjoyed this immensely. I love the simple touch controls and how effective you're putting them to work.

It's minimalistic yet very good game design and you have totally nailed the combination of color, shapes and audio.

There is one small thing I have to criticize: I would've appreciated if there was more feedback for beating a pattern - the thing that annoyed me most (but not much really ;)) about beating a pattern was that the music would stop.

Amazing and engaging!

Arco by lightspeedlucas 2013-04-30T21:15:00

Oh man, disregard my previous comment. I was too stupid to realize that you had to fill it up two times - there is proper feedback for winning. Haha. My bad I guess.

I could totally see you making money off of this.

F*** This Job by Casino Jack 2013-04-29T17:36:00

I had lots of fun playing your game. It has so many levels! Amazing work! And very well balanced!

Super Neo Tektropolis by vidarn 2013-04-30T20:36:00

The graphics were good and movement worked. It really suffers from the lack of goal. I as player didn't have a motivation.

So pretty solid art and code!

SHOOT CAR, SHIT PANTS by JMickle 2013-05-05T17:24:00

I loved the car-flipping animation. Solid Highscore-driven game.

Serendipity by AnnaGavaldaKedavra 2013-04-29T11:50:00

Huh. What just happened there?
Oddly enough I liked the music.

SHAPE-X by wintermute 2013-04-29T11:31:00

I didn't read the instructions and started playing. I picked the concept up fairly quickly. I like the execution and dig that there's a highscore system.

Well executed!

Space, Space, Space! by shinestrength 2013-04-30T16:37:00

I stayed with it all the way to the end. I enjoyed both parts.
The pendulum was somehow off and I have the feeling that had you adapted the background colors, that part would have greater effect.
Now that I sat it through to the end (I didn't interact in the second part) I really liked it. Especially the stark contrast.
Good experience.

KEY by Mousseto 2013-04-29T11:47:00

The game has a great color palette and I like the neon-look of it. Also i kept wondering about the dot inside the player-character.
It becomes pretty hard to stay alive. Early after the first enemies show up I can't handle them anymore, making it hard to play for a longer period of time.
Still, good job!

The Voice Of Fire by SenorDiablo 2013-04-29T17:47:00

I tried to answer as honestly as possible. The cool thing about it is that I wouldn't ask myself those questions but reading but being confronted with them in such a way I do think about them.

It was an interesting experience.

theseus.f by belickim 2013-04-29T17:18:00

I liked the style of the graphics in between (in dialogues) and you chose a very interesting color palette.

I love that the game is challenging - easy to learn, hard to master, that's always a good sign :)

Minimalist Horror Story by MinionStudios 2013-05-05T17:33:00

I get the feeling that it suffices to put "horror" into the title and the player into a dark room. I know for sure I did the rest. It wasn't so much the ambient effects (bats, rocking chair) that scared me but the silence and knowing there might be something.
I jumped when it was too late. Only saw red ^^.

The candle was a very neat idea

Perfect Crime by cmayhem 2013-04-29T11:38:00

Played on Webplayer. I smirked.
I have a hard time figuring out how parts move - but it makes the game all the more fun.

Good job!

The Minimalist Fisherman by Hiku 2013-04-29T12:54:00

There are huge differences in terms of quality when comparing screens. Nonetheles simple but fun fishing. Well balanced too!
The light rays made for a great atmosphere and the music fit very well. I liked it.

rainwalkers by nuprahtor 2013-04-29T17:59:00

No rainwalkers here either. Kept looking for them but nothing. What a beautiful city and atmosphere.

Four Scepters by Benjamin 2013-05-03T17:44:00

Tight mechanics and great overall execution. It's engaging and fun to play. You did a great job!

Lunar Rain by LeafThief 2013-04-29T16:59:00

@namuol: I used Adventure Game Studio (www.bigbluecup.com)

Auraline by Julian Ceipek 2013-04-30T19:34:00

So very good. Thanks for making this game!
I played the webplayer version. Is it so small because it's optimized for rift? Because if that isn't the case it's all the more great.
The miniature viewport works so well with the audio. The beautiful flageolet sounds guiding my way through the maze.
And the "goal" color was so good.

I have really really enjoyed this. Thanks :)

LD30 — Connected Worlds

The Lion's Song by LeafThief 2014-08-26T07:17:00

@PierreC I agree more interaction would've been nice. But time got in the way (as usual) :/. Thanks for playing though :)

The Lion's Song by LeafThief 2014-08-27T08:16:00

@Schrodinger Games: Unfortunately Adventure Game Studio has no such thing as a Web Export.
However, as I've heard it is possible to start Adventure Game Studio Builds using 'Wine' (for Linus).

Hope this helps.

The Lion's Song by LeafThief 2014-08-28T06:40:00

@Vicotry Garden: It sounds to me that you think I wrote the Kill Screen Mag Article when in fact I didn't. I just thought the game page was a good place to put a link to that article.
I have now removed the link to avoid confusions.
Thanks for your opinion and feedback.

The Lion's Song by LeafThief 2014-08-28T22:35:00

@tv15 I am very sorry but the middleware (Adventure Game Stuio) I made this in doesn't support Mac builds. However: there is a way to play AGS games on MAC using the runtime/Engine that can be found here: http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/forums/index.php?topic=45708.0
This COULD work but I can't guarantee it, sorry.

The Lion's Song by LeafThief 2014-08-29T12:35:00

@Carduus: You could try and run winsetup.exe to run the game windowed. I hope this hels!

One Ship Two Ship Redshift Blueshift by 01010111 2014-08-27T05:21:00

A very very solid entry. I like what you did here and enjoyed playing it.

Delightful Harmony by pinkmonkeyhead 2014-09-13T07:26:00

I liked the style. It had something of a mandala :). Good job!

Sun God Star Bridge by Ted Brown 2014-08-30T06:20:00

What a fun game! I was blown away by the fact that every planet had it's own version of the main track. The visuals were nice and fitting and the game had a great difficulty curve.

One of the best uses of Audio so far!

Save the Earth by Bemmu 2014-08-30T16:06:00

Although very simple, it was fun to play!

Mor by Ditto 2014-08-26T22:04:00

What the damn did I just play?! This is so SOMETHING ELSE (in a good way). It has a very strong idea/fact at it's center and everything around it reinforced and reinforced that idea.

I found the artwork gross (in a good way!?) and weird - the music supports that soo well and the dialogs in this semi-ascii speak with smileys REALLY reinforce the idea, the weirdness of it.

I adore your entry. It is somewhat disturbing and I'm personally not a big fan of the ending but up to that point, wow!

Rocket Science! by timtipgames 2014-08-31T20:11:00

Played it on a Nexus 7(2012) and it worked grat. Good job on the game, it's simple and easy to understand yetfun to play for a while. After some time it gets a bit boring but that's okay considering you did this in such a short amount of time. Well done!

One more thing: although you may think the font looks good it's really hard to tell one's current score. My advice: stick with sth simpler that's more easy to read :)

Your world! by Julgodis 2014-08-30T08:27:00

Good game! I had a hell of a ride, at first it looked like I was winning easily but then somehow the enemy turned it around?!
I then was in danger of losing but spammed footmen (60) and archers and was able to fight them back. Thinking my defending army is now strong enough I made the advance... only to be smashed by the enemy's troops yet again.
Then I summoned the (800) creature. I have no idea what it does but it died horrible at the hands of a mob consisting of enemy farmers.

In short: I had fun with this :D

disconnected_worlds by cardboard 2014-08-30T08:51:00

I love the art style. This is gorgeous - I really mean it. It was so lighthearted. And that tiny font. I thought it was really beautiful. Also good score.
It often seemed rather random to me what to do?
I still liked it tho!

Tinyverse by Xaychru 2014-09-15T20:12:00

Very well polished puzzle gameplay and a wide variety of puzzles. I was really engaged and played for a good 20 minutes. Great great job.

Me And My Ghost by jahlgren 2014-08-26T20:59:00

Very well made! The controls felt really good. I thought the ghost world could've used more polish.
Good use of audio as well. All in all very solid!

Saturday Night Symbiosis by Pierrec 2014-08-26T11:58:00

Very well done! I enjoyed the character's small stories and how they connected in the end.
Ends perfectly rounded in a well-chosen song. Superb! :D

World Bash by DaGamesta 2014-08-26T04:36:00

Well done, worked great on my Nexus 7 (2012).
Playing it I first expected the other planets to have more momentum of their own, but I got the handling fairly soon. :)

Godshunter by Mr. Chelnoque 2014-08-26T11:37:00

The visuals are good but damn the game was really hard. I also enjoyed the music. Good job.

1492 by Hexadecima1 2014-09-13T07:38:00

Three days away from India, the hearty, swift, coordinated crew of the Betty, Katie and Fry met their demise by the hands of aliens.

Great humor and funny game, good job!

Phaze by Stuffie 2014-08-25T19:37:00

The stauff that is there is well executed. Shame you couldn't finish :/

The Quest For The Missing Baby by Ofursnati 2014-08-31T18:59:00

Hey there. The game was very basic but well playable. The music was really good especially at setting the two worlds apart.
I think there are a few things you could address to easily improve the experience:
1) Squash & stretch in your animation as well as keeping the direction the sprite is facing.
2) It's not the best strategy to mock the player when he fails. Think of some other form of feedback.
3) It's hard to tell when it's safe to switch and when not. It'd also be helpful if you had some sort of visual information as to how long the switch will last.

Other than that: you made a game, it works. That's quite an achievement right there! Good job :)

The Slay Zone by iossif 2014-08-26T07:22:00

Great gameplay! I think the connection through the controls works really great. And it's challenging!

Really great work for 48h!

ShiftKeeper by egor-idiot 2014-08-30T09:50:00

I liked this. Had good art. You probably know this yourself but I liked the right side so much more. It was stylistically (creature silhouettes) and gameplay-wise more interesting (and rapid fire felt so much better :)). So great job on the theme - because the two worlds were so tonally different and connected in a way that made sense. Good job!

The Swordman by iSamurai 2014-08-26T06:59:00

The visuals work great and I really liked the input feedback. Well rounded experience!

ORBII by Lars Faust 2014-08-30T10:03:00

The 3d graphics were really good but I found the icons somewhat confusing.
However, the mechanics were good and it takes some thought to get it right. Short but good.
Also it reminded me of genetics ^^.

Rockmorse by eralpkaraduman 2014-08-26T13:18:00

Great graphics and nicely implemented gameplay. Also very well readable.
But I encountered the same problem as some other commenters: after finishing the sequence nothing happened anymore :/

Frozen Mirror by Ramiel 2014-08-30T08:32:00

I really liked the snowflake particles. The puzzles were really good.
I kept thinking that it would be great if the snowman only regenerates on snow.
Other than that, congratulations on finishing. Nice game.

Heaven or Hell by EMAK 2014-08-26T21:41:00

Good graphics and gameplay. Became rather hard very quickly!

Linker by Stals 2014-08-31T09:50:00

Made it to Level 6. I have to say i played it on a laptop with a touchpad which might've made it much harder.
However: I found myself really drawn into this strange universe. It was partly because of the few sentences in the description. I loved the phrase "our mutual hearts." It set a tone for the whole game that really helped create a fantastic mood. It was subtle but I imagined populations inside the centerpieces. Millions of hearts sitting there hoping to survive, that nothing goes wrong in the Linking process.
The gameplay was simple but fun and challenging and the music was good. I especially liked the SFX when connecting two nodes.

My feedback or points where I think you could improve:
1) I think it's of utmost importance that you bring some of the setting/sentences in the description in there. I think you could really create a great experience overall if you were able to fuse a subtle story with your gameplay.
Maybe you could draw some inspiration from 'These Robotic Hearts of Mine (http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/585599)

2) Difficulty/Length: Considering that the difficulty ramps up quite quickly I think you could make each of the levels longer, which could also give more of a feeling of accomplishment.

That's all I can think of at the moment. Very well done!

The Legend of Light by Yword 2014-08-30T15:14:00

This was just beautiful. Artful execution of all aspects and fun gameplay.

They Came from Beyond by masamunedragon 2014-08-28T06:48:00

First congratulations on finishing your first LD :). Good job. You managed to make something playable in 48h which is in and of itself impressive. My feedback regarding controls:
It was hard for me to estimate what my attacks would do (therefore use them effectively). Sometimes it would thrust enemies up in the air, sometimes they seemed completely unimpressed by my attacks.

Red Entity by danbo 2014-08-30T09:11:00

Good looking and well sounding game.
Often I didn't notice the correlation of getting hit and losing hp.

Souzou Cliff by PixlWalkr 2014-09-01T16:55:00

I think you did a great job staging the story and was genuinely happy that one of the protagonists didn't arrive at a grave in the end.

Since you had quite a big team I'd like to say stuff about every part of the game:
Although the character artwork (in the dialogs) didn't fit too well with the rest of the game, I liked how you were able to depict different kinds of emotions with it.
I think you could improve the walk cycles of your characters. Increasing the fidelity could help the platforming and gameplay feel immensely.
The platforming parts were rough and like many others I would've loved checkpoints in the levels. However, the text presentation + dialogs were technically well made!
The story/writing started out as somehow bland but I think you really pulled it around after the introduction. It felt very much like JRPG dialogs/charcters.
The music: while there were some hiccups in presentation (it sounded quite grainy and stuttered sometimes) the musical choices were good!

All in all - I liked what you did in this entry! The critique/suggestions are merely my opinions on how you could further improve the game. For the time you had this is already a huge achievement. Good job!

Sinister by Joe Williamson 2014-08-27T05:08:00

I agree with most commenters here: really well done art and good audio. Definitely solid presentation.
But the lack of content renders it rather short and in general the narrative reminds me too much of other games such as Appy 1000mg by deepnight.

The game presents itself as a platformer (gorgeously executed no doubt!) but there minimal platforming going on - which is probably a good thing since it's clearly narrative-focused.

I by no means want to diminish your accomplishment, it is a very very beautiful and well-sounding entry and I was especially delighted by the vanishing letters when text appeared.

The Stitcher by christopf 2014-08-26T12:00:00

Too bad I really would've liked to try it out.

Space Trader by Random Abductions 2014-08-26T04:51:00

Planetary Marriage Counseling by WeaselZone 2014-08-25T19:17:00

Wow that was so great!
I absolutely loved the setup and presentation. The audio was probably the best part.
The intro sequences are just gorgeous.

Honestly, I didn't make it through the restaurant. I tried but ended up getting divorced. This might be one of the very VERY few things I'd love to see improved: difficulty.

Great entry!

Interplanetary Plumber by muumeroinen 2014-09-01T15:19:00

Hahahaha, awesome!

The Tree by Calciumtrice 2014-08-27T04:37:00

Well done to set yourself goals. I think you did a great job at fulfilling your goals! The gameplay was good. If you're looking to improve game feel my advice would be to improve and elaborate on player animations.
Same goes for bosses, who could e.g. have another attack.

But still, impressive for 48hours and even more so because you were able to finish all your personal goals!
I'm curious what you'll come up with in the future :)

Color trip by stasss 2014-08-30T09:01:00

I liked the first level very much. I thought the game was hard, however the audio seemed to be out of place. While it worked perfectly in the first level (together with the visuals and gameplay) it very much diminished the experience in the later levels.
Also it was hard for me to find how the theme factored into the game as a whole?

Still though, a functional and well-rounded game!

Awe by Oddly Shaped Pixels 2014-09-13T07:09:00

I had a hard time finding the combinations. Still a nice experience! Good job!

Crepuscular by Grand Mustasche Studios 2014-08-30T16:20:00

I liked the sounds and the animation of the character. However even given that there are only two levels I had no clue what to do and when I was doing something right?!
This is definitely getting somewhere but IMO you need to work on telling the player what she is supposed to do.
Keep it up!

Musical Trade Route by ceosol 2014-08-26T05:03:00

Played this on a Nexus 7 (2012) and it worked long enough to get an impression. It crashed after spamming the keys for too long though :-\

I loved the menu music, which I thought was a good twist to scifi. it set a nice tone.
However I thought the actual game didn't reach the overall quality of the menu.
Hope to see more from you in the future :)

Shattered by guimonpa 2014-09-01T07:59:00

I liked the audio very much. It added greatly to the overall mood/atmosphere.

Superdimensional by PixelMind 2014-09-15T19:58:00

Well polished, great puzzle design. Really liked it a lot!

The Way Home by kei 2014-08-29T06:23:00

I liked the little hair animation and I think the avatar sprite is well done - you could even go further in terms of animation. I think this would help the overall feel immensely.

The mechanics worked fine but I thought the game was getting too difficult too fast, but considering you did this in such a short time it's completely understandable.

Good job :)

Connected Nations by villetou 2014-08-30T08:44:00

I chuckled =).

Lady Lyla by whalebot 2014-08-30T09:31:00

You did such a great job! To me, this was one of the best and most effective uses of the theme. I got such a great feel for the boy and the girl by just their movements and what was going on in their imaginary world.
It was perfect that there wasn't much of a gameplay system behind it. Yes, I could fight and dig etc. (in my imagination) but that's what pretend-play is all about!

Yes, it needed music and sound effects and overall polish but I think what's there is really good.
If you're planning to work on this further feel free to contact me. Maybe I can help you with something (@leafthief)?

Serenity & Passion by Jvdo 2014-08-26T11:43:00

A good concept well executed. I liked it!

Unbounded by Xinelu 2014-08-26T12:14:00

Well, for a first entry I'd say it is okay. You can definitely see it as a learning experience.
For good platformer controls there are obviously a lot of examples, starting with Mario games but also Braid. I think one tends to underestimate the amount of work that goes into controls that just feel good.
The animations are okay (the stances are well readable) and with a little more polish the graphics could turn out good.

Don't give up! :)

Starpiercer by Schrodinger Games 2014-08-27T04:44:00

Solid entry with great audio. I especially liked the little sound right after you slow down time.
However, I'm missing a connection to the theme.
I thought the level transitions were made nicely, but thought that the audio transition could've been handled more gracefully.
But that's nitpicking ;) good job.

Princess Color by lasecun 2014-08-26T04:48:00

I thought the game was okay. Good first entry and worked well on Nexus 7(2012).
As ppinted out already there are some Areas you could improve gameplay-wise. E.g. I noticed collision detection didn't work as eected at platforms.
Also on my device the red buttons and the actual controls weren't in the same place, but I can see how that's always a problem with Android ;-)
Good job finishing and let's see more of you ij the future!

God Bless My Spaceship by Autonomous 2014-08-31T20:01:00

Worked well on Nexus 7(2012). Liked the humour but found it rather clumsy to control. Somehow the contraption I built actually took off. Made it all the better to see the gorgeous success screen stating 'it's a miracle'. Made me smile :-)

Yggdrasil by stevens_studio 2014-08-26T13:03:00

Well... the graphics are good.
But unfortunately there is no gameplay.
Also regarding controls: I think that putting the Jump key on [SHIFT] isn't the best idea since Windows will trigger 'Sticky Keys' if [SHIFT] is pressed repeatedly.

Dead Weight by ponywolf 2014-08-26T05:21:00

Wow very well executed and presented. The little story going on there on the signs had me smile.
I think the mechanocs work well for mobile devices and it was fun every time especially because of the changing music.. So cool I wish there was more :-)

Robbin' Hoods by BroCade 2014-08-30T16:14:00

While I enjoyed the game on mechanics-level it felt weird to me that I'd make one family rich and the other family poor. I think there could've been more of a statement made there.
Still works well though!

Orange by JaJ 2014-08-26T21:36:00

I liked it very much. It was touching somehow. I loved the setup and how you introduced the characters at the beginning. I was amazed at how fast I felt friends with the green boy.

Really good gameplay. I enjoyed it very much! Had great risk/reward balancing and felt fair overall.

Nicely done. Well-rounded mechanics accompanied by nice retro graphics and challenging level design.

PS:
I've noticed a bug when both players are pushing down and try to move to the other's lane.

Mansion on the Hill by BuffaloPhil 2014-09-14T08:46:00

Great job. I thought it was well written and I always knew what to do. Sometimes the perspective of the rooms/corridors looked a bit... creative, but that didn't diminish the overall experience/mood of the piece. Really nice work for 48h!

Super Chop by savethejets1 2015-08-26T18:47:00

Worked really well, I wanted to keep going. Also I don't know if you built it that way but I had the feeling that red and big trees differed from the other trees. They weren't just harder they really became my rivals. At first I wanted to chop them really bad but later on I realized that I started to avoid them.

Thanks for this :)

Should Have Worn Socks Today by Pierrec 2015-09-03T13:29:00

It IS cute **u**
Very good job on the music this time! Really impressive.
It might be short but it's sweet and to have her comment on herself throughout the game was just a perfect little touch!

Geminis by Ludipe 2015-08-26T19:21:00

Good music, interesting story and really strong graphics + animation. The game itself looks like an adventure so the puzzle mechanics kinda broke with my expectations there. But it still works.

Good good job!

Thank you for making this. I'm living in Austria and like in many other European countries we are also incapable of dealing with the situation in a human way.

Here, too, there's racism founded on the arguments that they use in your game.

Here, too, the refugees have to hope for someone to show them a kindness.

Here, too, there are so many monsters.

I will share this and spread the word about it. I'd have this play everyone, especially those blind to the topics addressed by your game.

Mornings of a Seventeen Year-Old Girl by Mike Mezhenin 2015-09-01T07:40:00

I loved every bit of it. Real good choice in music, you just can't see the thing without it but it is soo superb.

The game felt touching, as if I could relate so very much. It was really unexpected. A great interpretation of the them. Good art. Played well.
I guess you can tell that I fell head over heels for this game.
Thank you for this!

Frankengirl Free-For-All by Frump 2015-08-25T06:36:00

The music was SO good :) and I really liked the title and continue artworks - they were gorgeous.

It felt a bit like you couldn't finish the game as you planned to, the game part suggests that there should've been more.

What I found was absolutely adorable was how you implemented the healthbar with my bodyparts flying across the map whenever I lost "health".

Good job :)

Terabyte by Knighty 2015-09-02T11:30:00

Yeah it could've been really cool but there's quite a few placeholders in there. Gameplaywise I wanted to say that I felt I could position myself in a way that the enemies wouldn't hit me but I could still hit them.

I think this has potential.

Memory of Psychopath by Givit Game Studios 2015-08-25T06:51:00

The voiceovers were so good!
As for the platformer parts - they're solid. I'm generally not good at them so I wouldn't blame the controls ^^

While the graphics were readable I strongly felt that the game deserved better graphics.

Good job!

You are the Monster by pokepetter 2015-08-26T19:06:00

Good art. Staged and put together well. A thing about the audio: I'm guessing you used mp3 and made the track start again before it ended?
If you have a looping audio file use .ogg, it doesn't produce a gap as .mp3 does. It was a bit disturbing to have the loop break over and over again.

Steal Alive by Pampattitude 2015-08-26T06:43:00

Still good work overall!

AM I? by DruhinM 2015-08-25T06:29:00

A nice combination of graphics and music. A bit short but a complete loop. Good job!

There were a few things I'd love to see improved:
Sounds: I really liked the BG music - SO: I'm drunk and on a motorcycle - why can't I hear it?
Controls: You could add to the feeling of drunkenness by making the controls even laggier?
Wheelie: Something about the wheely-ing looked off. Looks like it rotated around the center and didn't have the pivot in the rear wheel.

Again congrats on finishing for the jam!

A very well made game. Tough choices.

McTremson Bar by collaboration 2015-08-28T07:40:00

The score was really good and silky smooth jazz - who doesn't love that. So the music alone blew me away. Of course a score like that combined with the good pixel art sets a nice mood.
I think that the game (mine too btw.) suffers a little from interactions without feedback but overall really good entry!

It's hella fun to FLY around to Wagner's Walkürenritt. The controls were simple but worked well, I smiled at the visual jokes you put up here and there. What I found very intriguing in terms of level desing was the candy bar next to the fridge, it really made me weigh my options.

Woodpunk by elisee 2020-04-21T19:56:14Z

The art was so good and only topped by the amazing music. The individual elements of the game were fine I think, I just had issues with the size of the world and how the systems interlocked at times. But the level of polish blew me away. Good job!

Torchbearer of Love and Passion or something by CaptainDreamcast 2020-04-24T11:27:07Z

I liked the narrator's texts. For sure the funniest (and most humorous) entry I've seen thus far. What's the deal with the queen? She's like everywhere O_O

FlowerWay by Mountday 2020-04-25T12:42:06Z

Quite an interesting mechanic... it definitely got me thinking and RE-thinking my approach. There were a couple of stages of realization: 1) Drawing does not make the ball go automatically 2) I can draw below the ball 3) Whenever I release, the ball is released - I might have to work with momentum 4) The flowers stay in place (=i can build something)

I feel like there's an interesting mix of strategic thinking and (performance) skill involved in the game. I like it1 Thing is, right now, I think it's too hard. A couple of easier and shorter levels would've benefited the game and really get players into it quicker. Right now it feels like a vertical slice and has quite the steep learning curve.

Bard: Keep the Story Alive by polyducks 2020-04-21T20:25:28Z

Fantastic and very effective job. Such a great interpretation of the theme. I was surprised how the stories came to life based on the (random) word combination in the verses. Once I realized that the audience grew, that really was a big motivation boost for my aspiring bard. :notes:

El Burritón by JakNak72 2020-04-22T14:51:31Z

Once I figured out what each individual element wanted me to do it was quite fun to aim for as high a score as possible. I served the amazing number of **2** (in words "two") burritos! Everything was well made, I just felt that the UI / font choice could've gotten more love as it didn't feel on par with the rest of the game. Good stuff!

Dreadful Sanity - A Ludum Dare Game Jam Game by misterG420 2020-04-21T12:20:22Z

Got really engaged playing this. This was the first horror take on the theme  and it had quite a few cool moments. The music was simple but added a lot to the horror mood! Font choice was good for the title, but I had trouble reading it sometimes. The graphics were at times a bit too dark to read well and the pixelart unfortunately got blurred.

A Unity tip: you can control this via the import and filtering settings for your 2d sprites; filtering would have to be set to No filtering/Point filter to make sure the graphics stay crisp.

Congrats on finishing and thanks for making this!

Rabbit Guillotine by miki_keyo 2020-04-21T19:05:34Z

Keep the Heart Alive by QYOUK 2020-04-25T14:46:47Z

I really liked the visual finish of the body in the background so I was a little disappointed in the contrast between that and the player character and enemies. I don't feel like they go well together visually. That being said, the stark color-contrast works for readability. Again the background art really spoke to me! In terms of gameplay I had some issues with the vertical controls. The moving heart added interesting variation on gameplay and I chuckled every now and again when I found myself trying to keep the heart within an arm or leg

Crackles by Mumb0 2020-04-21T18:50:02Z

Good mood. After multiple runs my best time is 03:12. I've wandered these frozen planes for what feels like ages, keeping that flame alive with tiny leaves or branches that really only last for so long. It does a good job of capturing the feeling of a dire situation, of holding on to the tiniest thing; a struggle to *keep it alive*. Good job.
