I'm trying to play all the Android games... I'll try to drum up a second device to test!
Had to make my browser to 400% to click on the play button., but after that it worked.
Loved the graphics (the icon most of all) and the play was responsive and straight forward. Nice jam entry....
I would love to see this idea fully explored. Great potential.
It took me quite a while to figure out what I was doing :)
I would suggest making some very simple beginning levels to get the basic concept across before jumping in. Also dragging could be cool to build the links...
Nice job!
5700 points! The pixel pigs were very cute. Enjoyed the fleeing/flocking behavior of the critters. Great work!
Awesome as usual. Nice to see a melonJS get such a good looking submission!
Nice overall. I was a little confused on what I was doing, but it was a neat experience. Worked like a charm on my Nexus 7 2nd Gen
It's ambitious to do a network multiplayer game for the Jam, so an A+ for effort. I liked the "little planet" feel.
FYI, the 64-bit version just locked up, but the 32 bit version ran fine on my Mac.
Nice entry... reminded me of Oregon Trail for the new world. 5-star humor!
Wow! That' a lot of work for a Compo entry. Tighten up the physics and you have a real winner here...
Nice idea... agree with everyone that it needs more content :)
Yeah, the idea is there, execution needs work, but excellent effort.
I like the look... reminds me of an 80s Quest game with better graphics.
Fresh presentation for sure.... Wish it was longer/less laggy, but the visuals make up for all of that;
I liked it. Worked like a charm on my Nexus 7... On mobile it would have been cool to have the red blood cells float toward the tilt of the device and the flicks move the white blood cells.
Also, I wanted some sort of audio feedback on moving things, maybe a heart beat?
Overall one of the best entries I've played so far. Nice work!
It's a simple idea simply executed and yet I can't stop playing it. Agree with everyone's opinion on too hard at the start.
Nice work!
Worked like a charm on my MAC with Love 9.1. I really liked the idea of portals for items between the two worlds.
Controls were a little sloppy, but I'm sure with some playtesting you could get that worked out. Graphics were on great for solo/48 work...
Very cool!
A great jam effort. The controls were a bit floaty, but I was compelled to keep going in that way that Castlevania, Mega Man, et al used to make me feel back in the day. Exciting music. Nice work!
I liked the simple controls, but the NZ hosting took for-----ever to download. Try hosting it someplace else for us US folks...
I could see this being an awesome two player game where players share a tablet... One does the three match and the other shoots the ships... As it stands it's a good idea and awesome entry.
Nice. I would have loved to play with a gamepad.... would have made the difficulty not so rough.
Can't tell you how much I like the low poly look....
A interesting way to present interactive fiction. Nice work... I would let the user leave the text fast forward on for subsequent plays.
I was wondering when I'd play my first potato salad game. Wonder no more :)
Nice concept. Would have loved to see what you could have done with more time.
Controls were a little touchy, and I died before I realized I was supposed to be protecting the cores :)
All in all though, solid 48 hours of work!
I liked the graphics... I did get to how you interpreted the theme, but it took while...
Nice look, super funny. A little buggy, but hey who's entry isn't :)
Sweet game. I love the way you did the tutorial with the writing on the level itself...
I felt it was a little too hard in the beginning... Maybe if you didn't go all the way back when you die.
It should only require Android 2.3.3, but we are doing OpenGL effects, so some older devices might struggle. Thanks for giving it a shot!
@radmars I love your team's games too. I was one of the (minor) contributors to melonJS last year, and I saw some of your stuff then. Your current entry is crazy good as well.
@mactinte Yeah, the concept was the collectables would do damage to the character who wasn't on top, but we ran out of time to get the UI stuff for that working... So I left the the collectables as physical kind of things.
When i get a chance I want to spend a day just cleaning it up and putting the rest of the graphics the team made into it.
A little confused on what to do... A quick help screen could solve that. Good first-timer though!
It a nice start. Controls are a little loose and players could have a little more "gravity" when landing on the platforms. I liked the player animations.
It seems lots of teams (including us) took the Angel/Devil route to addressing the theme.
So goes the LD48!
Really liked the "overworld" map as a space ship. All in all, solid entry....
Funny as crap.... Nice work!
That's funny. We had the same concept... Heaven and hell connected.
I really liked it. The main character had real personality... Good looking and played well too. Nice work.
Wow. Nice look and feel. Very stylized....
Liked the effects and animation quite a bit. Wow again.
This feels like a fully fleshed out game. Good entry!
The art and animation is nice.
Great gfx and music. We didn't even have an idea after 12 hours!!! Nice work.
I liked the mutation mechanic at the end of the level. The graphics make it stand out and it hits the theme dead on. Nice work.
Cute game... You could have saved me some time by letting me know that I was supposed to smash into the cars. :)
After I figured that out, it was smooth sailing. I would have loved to see your boss monster!
So. Freaking. Awesome. I look for your games since I played your LD30 entry. We didn't use melonJS this time, but we should have.
More fun than it should be. :)
I really liked the explosion effect and the graphics as a whole. A bit hard to control.
This feels like a very complete game. Love the graphics and colors.
This is pretty fun for some reason. :D I love the idea that the little green cubes are full of blood.
I loved it.
I'm always impressed when people pull off networked games for the jam and in a browser even. I had a little trouble figuring out was I was doing, but overall a great entry.
Wow. Great entry... Love the idea. Took a while to figure out the "timeout" but made sense in the long run.
I really love the Oryx tileset too and it's very funny that you featured the goblin sprite. It's about time he got a staring role. :)
All in all, nice work.
The animations are awesome.
Hotkeys:
R - Restarts level
M - Turns music on/off
Esc - Opens menu
Note:
All graphics/sound/music created by the team for the Jam in under 72 hours
Known Issues:
Text is a little blurry on Windows
Joystick support is a flakey at best
Tools:
Lua (lua.org)
Corona (coronalabs.com/) - SDK
Tiled (mapeditor.org/) - Level building
BFXR (bfxr.net/) - Sound Effects
Figure (propellerheads.se/figure) - Music
I like the top down look and feel... Also really smooth for HTML5... Nice work!
Loved the visual style!
I liked it... Kinda like Clumsy Ninja but into a dragon mouth. On my Mac hard swings with the would cause the game to minimize and then crash, but I got the idea. Nice work!
The graphics are cool and spinning cookies while shooting pizzas is pretty fun. I would love to see this fleshed out!
I got the error message as well. :(
Graphics are good and the character design is pretty interesting.I want biting to feel more satisfying.
Pretty good for unfinished. Keep it up!
I liked the concept and art, but I DID find game breaking bugs! Seriously though, excellent solo entry and a great first try. I also liked the small size... made it feel like a GBA game... Nice job!
Super fun... I was missing some WASD strafing though :) I like the idea of build a basic mechanic and adding all the weapons too. I would have liked to see some other types of ships w/ different properties. All in all one of the better compo entries...
Graphics and color are top notch. I really like the idea of a four legged character.
Good graphics. I would like to see you keep going with this.
I like the sprite characters. The "edge death" was pretty confusing at first. Fun game. :)
Better luck next time!
Funny concept. I like how God had infinite life... Good graphics, stomping was fun. Overall, I giggled.
Very nice. I have soem performance problems in full screen mode, but windowed it ran like a charm. Nice work!
Nice work! It was a little tough jumping on some of the circles and triangles, but with some work this could be a fun little jumper/shooter.
I was wondering if there would be Godot entries. I didn't get any music, but it was easy to pick up and play. Nice work!
We didn't do a good job explaining all the keyboard controls, mainly because there was a bug with our dialog system on the PC that kept the tutorial from throwing any text. Oops :(
The dialog text is now fixed AND we just updated the first screenshot here to mention the key setup where you can use arrows and A/S/Z/X for shapeshifting/firing/jumping. Much easier this way on the keyboard, but still a controller is best.
This is pretty fun. I think that It would translate to mobile very well.
Control explanation on the start screen are so overlooked in the LD. :) Nice Idea for a platformer control scheme, with some tweaking it could be awesome-er.
I don't even care it's not a game... :)
What is happening?!?!?!? :)
I actually *loved* the intro, it really hooked me, but like most have said some feedback or instruction mixed into the gameplay would have kept me from flipping back and forth from the game to the tutorial page. +1 on using video, that's a good idea.
Slow to load, but it did get there. I really liked the planet jumping as a "world map" to get to the platforming. Moving that tutorial stuff from a slide show to in the first level would have helped me figure things out a little better. Whole team liked the music...
Also, nice to see a game closely tied to the theme.
Here's a gameplay video...

Randomise User gave us a jolly good playing....
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yFCtlFvcsXw&feature=youtu.be
Congrats!
Visuals and mood are really good, but the flickering and small font made it hard to keep playing.
That said, it's a strong entry.
Very nice execution. I love LD games that discover a new mechanic and can also make me giggle. Good work!
I think a bunch of people have said that "point where you shoot" would have really helped this out. It's not bad by any means and well done for a Ludum Dare. Nice work!
Super ambitious... and an amazing amount of art assets. Nice work!
Awesome attempt, I like the look and the basic mechanic. Stick with it for sure!
This is a great first try at a LD game. Graphics are top notch!
I would have liked to see more done to fit it into the theme, but again a good effort!
Great little game. I liked the turn based card play, but I don't know if I really understood the strategy of how/why I was swapping cards with the rabbits. Graphics were spot on though. Super solid entry.
Amazeballs! I could see this turning into a great puzzle platformer. The controls felt spot on... All around solid game for the compo.
Very cute! Excellent entry!
I don't know i anyone else mentioned, but hitting the spcebar to quick re-play or having a 3,2,1 timer then auto restarting would have kept me from aving to switch between mouse and keyboard. Also, I feel with more time to polish you'd have a nice mobile clicker.
Anyways, nice work!
Very cool take on Qix. Loved it... (Love2d'ed too)
Love that it's a Pico8 entry. The sound is great for what tools you are given... Overall awesome job!

First off, not what I expected. I was surprised by the style--which was a bit of a departure from your previous entries. That said, I was into the gameplay, but I felt like the actual area where the action happened could have been bigger. Good mix of pixel/3d art. All in all another solid entry!
Agree with most of the stuff here. I would add that I liked how the character was big in scale--would have been nice to pull the camera back as more clones were made...
I can't imagine this won't place high for graphics--beautiful design. (BTW, our team also did a card based dungeon game.)
Had the same mac texture issue, but I was able to play it well enough. Liked the mouse to hand movement--very Enviro Bear 2000. Nice job!
Boy, there's a lot to process there. I think making some of the numbers more visual (bars or something) would cut down on the main page clutter.
Nice work. I'd keep pushing the gameplay... a little too simplistic right now.
Thanks for the comments everyone! Also posted an OSX port a few minutes ago. Fixed a typo the module that reads the arrow keys... may fix some arrow weirdness.
@spacepotato We limited the game to a 16-bit palette for a bit of a challenge. Glad you noticed!
@pixel-error Yeah, supporting game pads make it easier to test as well.
@connor0wolf That's exactly what we we're shooting for!
We ran out of time to implement the dialog system :( This game we were down to the wire to get it submitted, I'm surprised that there's not more that was broken. I'm sure @mutatedsoftware or I will go in and clean up a post jam version.
Thanks everyone for the great comments! We had a blast making it.
@jjacobs and @qyouk Yeah, that map was not thought out in the least little bit, so there's definitely some choke points.
@mrleeperry Yeah... I always wanted to tackle a 16 color palette, it worked out pretty well. The palette is called Island Joy...
island-joy-16-palette-example-palette-usage-example-by-kerrie-lake.png
Thanks everyone else for playing and the great comments!
The musicality of the game is spot on... I played with a mouse, and I thought it was fine experience. Feels like it could be on the app store as a hyper casual. Love the queue of notes, spinning feels solid. 5 stars!
Ideas from me would be limiting the number of notes in early rounds to just two and have that expand as play continues. Maybe make the arrows more prominent and keep momentum on the crank so it winds down slower. Also "holding" notes like guitar hero would be cool.
Nice work! I didn't realize those were poker chips for a while... Might have been fun to have the attackers as the white set of pieces.
That's great. A fun little introduction to Lua!
Thanks @recursor @Chormacorple27, @shchvova @coatline ... We just pushed a build that fixed an issue with the other boxers starting too tough--was playing differently in the browser than our desktops. Should be a bit easier now, but not too much :)
We've got 15 mins to get the balance right :scream:
@Lerg We were looking to have people fail fast and get a new boxer. In the grand scheme we were going to have the boxer's look change randomly... Thin/Thick, Skin color, placement of wounds, etc. but we ran out of time
Put together a few GIFs and thoughts in this mini-post mortem...
https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/boxing-surgery-simulator-2000/$93280
@Rongo Matane No wrong impression here, thanks for the feedback. We wanted people to experiment to figure out what tools do what and fail fast/restart to play a perfect game. The boxing section score isn't really used, its more about finding positive word bubbles and keeping your boxer alive for 15 rounds.
@Pixel-77 We struggled about adding some sort of tutorial, but for a short game like this, we thought teaching you how to play would just turn it into a clicker. We hoped that unlocking what the tools and word balloons do is half the fun.
@arzi @adhesion Thanks for the feedback! We really struggled with how much to explain. I think I had a version where only the tools you could use were highlighted, but that just turned it into click on the highlighted tool and then click on the wound, and it didn't feel like you were "discovering" anything. That's the deal with the LD Jam though, there's no time to put it in front of players and see what they like/dislike. (We barely finished :scream_cat:)
We'll do Desktop and Mobile builds shortly, and maybe we'll give more feedback and reduce the "pain" for using the wrong tool. No promises
Hi all! We posted a post-jam desktop build of the game that address some of the feedback... The HTML version is still the LDJam version with no changes--cause after all, it's a jam, but if you have a PC, there's a version for you that may be a little better balanced.
Mac post-jam version should now be live... :boxing_glove: :tools: :apple:
@Animaster @polegar Yeah, the post-jam build addresses some of those concerns, while trying to keep some of the same discovery mechanic. Give that a shot and please feel free to post more feedback! Thanks!
@jamfella Thanks! The boxer's shorts are visible in the surgery scene, and whatever color they are matches the color of your boxer... Or you are always the one on the left
Thanks @La mecanique du plastique and @Re-Markable !!!
Thanks @Deprecat and @Tero-laxstrom for the feedback. We're discussing ways to clue in players on what to do without making it too easy. The boxing is a bit improved in post-jam builds, but it could always be improved.
Super cool! Original idea + nice mash up. Feels super polished too. Don't know if I understood the spell tree fully and took me a few tries to realize that I had to load the gun first, but after 5mins I was way into it. Nice job! (Also, I'd host that file on Itch.io if it were me...)
Nice work. Puzzle bobble is one of my favs... I think the Bubbles could have used more physics-based shooting, or maybe some way to speed up that portion. It's a tall order, and you guys did some great work.
That was great! I'm not usually an RTS or a clicker guy, but I like the automation of resources angle. I'll have to com back and play it some more when I have more time!
So, spent some more time with this today, and I do really like the concept. I think the actual clicking mechanic could be "juiced" a bit. I know you don't really click as much after building the auto clickers, but some sort of animation or big red button with a good thud sound when you press it would draw the player in faster. Maybe clicking on an auto clicker could make it work harder for a period of time.
All in all, nice job. All hail Lua.
Nice work, excellent look and feel!
Agree with most... Get the game going faster and ramp up the difficulty more evenly. Other than that great job.
