Erm... No. I get that you were trying to make the N64 graphics, and you succeeded, but I never particularly liked that era's graphics, so I'll try and keep my review neutral. The game is difficult to play, although it works when needed. The character's model is kinda buggy, and the animations aren't great. Also, the game freezes the moment you complete your first trade. Another problem is that there is no pause button or quit button anywhere, you I had to use Alt-F4. Nice entry, and good work, but I don't think it's really all that great.
The rate of progression seemed a bit slow, but I loved the art style and mood of the thing. It really reminded me of N64 games, so I'd say your goal was a real success there. I was really impressed with the little world too. The whole thing was really nice!
I couldn't tell if the game was trolling me with the color scheme. Everything was gray and black and I couldn't tell if the cats were going to be asking me for yarn or tennis balls; they look exactly the same! I feel like maybe the textures didn't make it into the build or something. Either that, or it is an artistic statement about the inherent brutality of capitalism.
Nice art, looks very similar to Animal Crossing. The biggest issue with this game is the controls. Moving the camera, constantly switching from both hands on keyboard to mouse, sensitive hand input, those are all problematic. The idea to make it about trading is interesting, but the rate and diversity of fruits to trade should be better balanced. Also I think the game could benefit from non-round fruits, like  and :eggplant:, it could create interesting physics. Good job documenting the missing features and bugs, it is important to recognize the issues to improve. Finally, I enjoyed walking around the environment and manipulating the fruits, even if it was difficult.
OK despite my somewhat negative comment, I have to say, I found the controls just fine! It felt like I was playing Ocarina of Time in an emulator a little bit. I was using a controller. So don't listen to the haters on that one. And let me know if you upload a Mac build with fixed textures, because it seems like I was experiencing a bug.

Cute art, like someone else said, reminds very much of Animal Crossing. Cute little details like the character animations when they get what they wanted. Not having any luck with getting a controller to work, but maybe that's on my end? Looking forward to trying it with the controller.
Very awesome style It really reminded me of fun times playing N64 games, I love the art and the game idea, of trading stuff, is really creative. Awesome work!

Very cute game. It was fun! Although I didn't get to finish it.
It seems that I played this game for half an hour and didn't see a single tennis ball or unit of yarn. I don't think the game has enough content to warrant such an excessively long playtime, and it does make it feel a little forced and drawn out. There isn't particularly any challenge, and I feel the game mostly boils down to luck, with the time limit only serving to aggravate the player and submit to the theme.
I do however love the art style you've chosen, and I feel that it suits your game very well.
I think what this game could really use is some form of bargaining system to make trades a little less linear. I also think that the trading system in this game would have worked very well for telling a story or exploring the lives of the villagers, which would have added a lot more depth.
"Seven apples for one apple? You have a deal my friend!"
Wonderful interaction with the bag and the trading! It felt really good and stressful to shuffle through the bag for the last items (although the time limit was a bit unexplained). And as an N64 fan boy I must applaud the blocky style of the game
For me the only major issue was that the trading felt so random. I think there are many interesting mechanics on trading that could be implemented with relative ease. Great work still! :tada:
The inventory system was very cool and worked well. I wish that each trader listed what they would give me in return so I could prioritize. Overall really well made game.

Man I got a nostalgic vibe of the Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon for N64 in this game, nice job!! It even made me think of doing something like that in the future hahah thanks for that. Overall pretty good entry, the lack of sound made me feel less engaged with the mood but the theme is there, the controlers were kinda hard to get used to but in the end they were ok. Congratulations!

I really liked the idea, and it was fun to complete the tasks of everyone. The controls could have been improved a lot if the camera was free moving rather than a few set angles only changeable with the mouse buttons. I really enjoyed the ascetic of the game, and it was good time overall.

Extremely clever (and simple!) take on the theme --one of the best I've seen so far. The timer was buggy, which was frustrating, but the game did not punish you for failing a trade, so that was good. I wish it was possible to get some idea what you were going to be trading for, since I never ended up with any threads. The retro world was really cute! Loved the tiny kitty town.

That's quite a lot of produce there, buddy. Do you really need more?

If your goal was to be so very nostalgic and 64-ish with the style, well, congratulations. It looks great. Heck, better than great. It's more akin to a Playstation if you ask me. But let's not go that way.
The game itself is a lengthy chain of sidequests, which is charming at first (and terrific for a gamejam, if I have to say that), but it does get a bit dull after a while. Still, the amount of polish that it has, like being able to move the camera, makes it very enjoyable. And yes, having more fruits and vegetables make the game harder, but only marginally. Being able to shuffle the bag was a great quality of life detail. Very welcome!
I had a good time crossing paths with these animals. One heck of a romp. In behalf of my team, we'd like to see more of this. Maybe an expansion of sorts in the future with some extra mechanics? I dunno. Surprise us! :whale:
Looks interesting, and even has that awkard control issue like old N64 games had. I liked the mechanics, it shows a lot of promise.
First of all the kittens are soooo cute! I do not know what you meant with “64” but it felt like a n64 game to me and I could imagine this being a great game for that platform back then.
Concerning the graphics you did a great job, I love how you textured the 3d models. I’m impressed!
Concerning the audio, it was kind of empty. Some short music loop och some simple sound effect would do!
Overall I like this game so much. I had an amazing time playing it. I liked the trading mechanics! Fun fact, I spent a while trying to trade apple with leaves to a guy who did not want that. Then I realized what I was doing, kind of awkward. Thank you so much for this experience and good luck in the future! Have an awesome day, and I hope to see you in the next jam!

Very nostalgic and pleasant feeling playing this one. I used to play along with the kiddo on the old school consoles, and it brings back fond memories. Keep up with the great work, I'd like to see more of this!

Next time try to get some sound working. It really helps bringing your games to the next level!

I loved the way the cat I was trading with said "gimme" with that paw animation. No instructions needed: I knew what I needed to do!
This is too adorable! XD Love the animation and the graphics! I thought the camera controls were a little awkward though. Perhaps the game should just allow the camera to rotate around the character by moving the mouse?
Great work!
I couldn't talk with the NPCs, but I don't really know if it was my damn fault or not. Overall the art is pretty consistent. I liked it.

Really surprising (in the good way) entry! By that I mean I really like it! :) Great use of the theme, and well polished game! I like the way you move the camera, and the graphics, it suits well what you were aiming for! The only "downside" is that it takes a bit long to get to the end, I think having a bit less a veggies/fruits would help :) And congrats for handling the exchanges so you don't get stuck and can't exchange anymore! Good luck for Reynald's Expedition! :)

Wow, incredibly polished for an LD game.
Unfortunately I accidentally closed the game while trading after 20 minutes or so. But it was great fun until that point, although it really started feeling samey since there were no more new items introduced and I had no idea how much trading I still had to do to get the yarn. Seeing what you will get in return from each trader would be really helpful, so you could start building trading chains in your head. The shuffling around in your bag was not really all that helpful, I basically resorted to the auto-shuffle all the time since it was too hard to reach anything specific.
This is a very innovative concept and I would love seeing this one extended into a full game with some better feeling of progression :)
This is amazing! Good work, I didn't except it to be so fun! Great concept and awesomely executed.
The screenshots don't really do justice to the cuteness of the game, once you are in game, it is quite charming! It felt a bit difficult to get around sometimes, but the character design was quite lovely, audio work was also enjoyable. Hopefully you get a chance to work more on this, I would love to see a big town with these little guys - Great entry!
I love the graphics and audio! The animations are very adorable and the textures definitely trigger the nostalgia. The gameplay felt fleshed out, but after playing for quite awhile I didn't get any yarn and kept getting a lot of trade offers for items I didn't have. I would love to see this world fleshed out and more story and mechanics added. I wasn't a fan of the camera controls though. I understand the motivation... but I think some things are better off being left in the past :P

That unfortunately doesn't seem right to me, looks like there are assets/textures missing :( (playing on Mac)

I see 64 in title, I am instantly intrigued. Interesting concept and quite fun game you have created. First I found the controls to be bit clunky (to be fair 64-era controls were;)) but got used to them. After few trades I no longer had any idea what I had in my bag. Some kind of counters for the different items could have been nice. Now I just traded until I had completed the trade or ran out of time. Graphics are nice most part, really reminds me animal crossing. Not fan of the flickering textures though, and that’s more PS1 thing too;) Overall nice atmospheric game with interesting gameplay.
Ps. Sell this idea to Nintendo for their next Animal Crossing title.

Great game ! The N64 is really spot-on and the concept is really cool. When you start to have 10 veggies in your bag, it really become difficult, I'd say the theme is nailed ;)

Really neat entry! I like the overall mood and the art is nostalgic. Nice game!
I loved the low-poly graphics and the cute animal characters that reminded me of Animal Crossing. The trade system was quite a good idea too, but I experienced a problem. As stated by others before, I ended up with honey, eggs and butter, and I kept trading and trading for ~20min but did not see any new items. Starting a new game gave me the same results, I still don't know how to get yarn or tennis balls, this is the main issue I have with the game. Overall it's a cute and nice retro game!
@tuzepoito That's odd. We've since fixed that issue. You're supposed to start seeing yarn and tennis balls around the 20th trade. Maybe our server is caching and downloading an older version of the zip files? Try downloading the game from itch.io instead! [Super Trader 64 on itch.io](https://wildgamut.itch.io/super-trader-64)
Really nice game, Love the visual style :)

Love the very Banjo-Kazooie-esk art style and soundtrack! Very Nice!
@wildgamut Indeed, I downloaded it again and the file is different. However there are new problems with this version (Windows version) : - It is no more possible to quit the game by pressing Q in the pause screen, I have to do Alt+F4 - I can't grab pots of jam - quite ironic for a game *jam* :stuck_out_tongue: - either on the pause screen or the trade screen, the paw kinda freezes up if I hover one. On the pause screen I have to un-pause, and in a trade I could not find any way but to wait until the end of the trade. Seems to be a problem with the 3D view in the corner - the pot of jam doesn't show up.
@tuzepoito Thank you for the feedback!
We've fixed the issues and, hopefully, they shouldn't occur anymore :)

Wow, nice art / general vibe. I really like how they impatiently gesture at me to give them their tomatoes or whatever. I only wish there was more I could do in that world beside just trading items for other items.
Another Mac user here with the same issue as @ov3rflow. :( I really want to play this! Also would be nice to have a fullscreen option since the window is so tiny.

Had the same mac texture issue, but I was able to play it well enough. Liked the mouse to hand movement--very Enviro Bear 2000. Nice job!
