Planet Nanadoo: Quest for the Powered Fruit by MrTroy 2017-08-03T05:13:55Z
Excellent entry! The second music track is just amazing! And the game felt very complete overall. I love the voxel artwork.

Excellent entry! The second music track is just amazing! And the game felt very complete overall. I love the voxel artwork.
That was an enjoyable entry! The atmosphere was pretty good. I got stuck a few times charging as well, but managed to get unstuck after mashing buttons. Didn't realize that shift let me run until about 30 seconds before finding the ending.
Interesting entry. It's amazing how addicting keeping the bars full can be, well done! The audio is pretty fitting as well.
That was amusing! It gets pretty hectic once there are over 100 bunnies going wild. The bunny sounds can get a little annoying at that point. Still, hilarious to see them spreading like wildfire!
Hands down the best Ludum Dare entry I've seen this time around! Outstanding artwork, gameplay, atmosphere, story, and audio! Really has everything going for it. You should all be very proud of what you've accomplished in that time span! I was really impressed with the amount of art that went into the game
This game is wonderful! I can see now why dogs get soo excited about being a good boy! The game gets really hectic later on, which is exactly what you want from a game like this. The difficulty curve never felt brutal though, so well done! It's always easy to fall into that groove with your own game and make it too hard for everyone else.
Outstanding entry! Really polished and well balanced. There was always a lot of tension and getting the money at the last second was very rewarding. Everything fit together perfectly in the game, graphics, humor, pacing, audio. Well done all!
Definitely a lot of information to dump on the player at once. It's a really hard problem to tackle though, and even harder when doing game jams. I think a little slower pace at the start would have helped out there. I enjoy all of the mechanics that are there though! And the robot death frame is perfect.
@quemagalletas Thanks! It seems like the motion blur is more pronounced on other machines, I barely noticed it on mine. I know there was some association with tomato, but I was trying to do a shorter version of Automaton.
@oboshape Thank you! I ended spending hours and hours fighting with animation bugs. I'm starting to think manually adding motion in and not trying to fiddle with switching between root motion would have been easier.
@zoglu Many thanks! I was really disappointed that I ran out of time for sound and more polish. I only ended up getting 2 hours of sleep before going down to dev GAMM conference all day Monday, so it is what it is!
@zessirb I'm sorry about the low framerate! I should have added in some graphics settings. Interesting bug with the rolling, I think that's the root animation movement messing with the collision... I need to figure out a better solution for that!
@ruba haha yeah, apparently that blur is a lot stronger for other people than it was for me. It doesn't help that I also played the game in the "preview" window for most of the Jam. My first time using post processing effects, lesson learnt :P Thanks though! I loved the gothic games, fun times.
@pcmaster So, apparently the speed seems to be really dependent on how the game is running, I didn't get to do much testing there, but if you turn the settings down, you apparently zoom super fast. Whoops! :D
@theflyingkeyboard Thank you! And that is noted, I will make sure not to add so much motion blur in the future!
Thanks everyone! If the game is really slow please try running it on lower graphics settings. Apparently lag really impacts the movement speed... which is awful since I must have messed up somewhere pretty bad for that to happen. And I agree, the lack of audio is really unacceptable. I'll do better prioritizing it next time!
Cute game, the timing was a bit challenging for the warthog part, took me a couple tries- I ended up passing it on an attempt that seemed to cover a lot less than my previous attempts. The voice acting was really great and kept me invested in completing the game. The music at the end is perfect
Charming platformer! I got stuck at one point with a turret shooting me while I was standing on an edge, I couldn't move, jump, or shoot as I kept getting hit and stunned in place and had to refresh the game. Next go around went a lot better though, although the section where you need to wall jump up between the turret fire was a little frustrating. I enjoyed myself though, and reaching the end was definitely satisfying, which is the whole point of these games. Interesting decision to also make getting hurt not kill the character and just stun them. I see a lot of LD platformers become brutally difficult and it's a refreshing take to not have to restart the whole level each time I die.
Outstanding artwork! Love the character designs and set pieces. Destroying the environment was an odd way to replenish energy, but it was fun to smash everything! I did get a few collision glitches while doing that where desks would go flying through me. And I agree with the others, more feedback for hitting / getting hit was needed to make the combat feel beefier. Great entry all around though!
This game is adorable! All them bois! Loved getting a giant horde of them and just decimating the brad shooms! I would definitely play a full version of this game with more levels and mechanics put in there :D
Very challenging at the start to keep from losing conditions. I did enjoy the losing sequence the first couple of times, but getting back into the game quicker would have been nice after multiple failures. Excellent audio and atmosphere!
Adorable game! I love the music, it's super catchy. The dashing feels super great. The intro was well done as well. Very aesthetically pleasing game.
The game was really hard and I was getting a bit frustrated until I realized you could move while firing your laser... whoops! I think it would have been interesting dynamic if you were stationary while the beam fired, if the beam traveled a lot faster. The game is fun though as it is. It's really impressive that you got in a full level editor with a ton of features in for the jam! Well done!
Absolutely hilarious! Great pacing too, goes from a breeze to crazy hard. Absolutely wonderful voice acting. Simple but addicting gameplay.
The teddy bear branch is my favorite for sure. I'm really impressed with how much branching dialogue you wrote! It's very humorous too. I do wish the final dialogue chunk varied a bit, but I loved all the different stories. I could see this being really great with some tragic back story hidden between the different paths that players have to piece together. It was still really enjoyable though, great job! And the art was adorable!
fail.png
Welp, that was a really disappointing run... Fun game though! Managed to beat it after a couple more runs. Seemed a bit too dependent on random chance for good powerup locations- I think it would have felt better if you didn't slow down to such a slow pace after the arrows wear off.
Top notch atmosphere! I had a feeling the ending was going to happen. Had a great time with the game though. Never felt too punishing or easy which is hard to pull off with a platformer. Overall a really great entry!
Nicely done for your first LD entry! Sebastian Lague procedural generation? Just a guess since I did those tutorials awhile back and got the same type of 3d caves :D The minimap felt a little bit too helpful for me though, as I could tell exactly where I needed to go so I didn't need to do any exploration. Fog of war on it would have been great, but obviously a lot of work for LD.
Quite challenging! I managed to successfully abduct a couple of cows before the timer ran out, but I definitely dropped more than I... what am I doing to get energy from them? Excellent job for your first LD entry! The music was very fitting too, reminded me of cyriak animations.
Nice take on the theme! I think it might have worked better if the menu stayed up and the trends just changed on a timer- that way if you mistime your post it would end up going against the new trend. The reactions were pretty funny though, and the animations associated with them looked great!
Very imposing mood going on in the game. Felt very dystopian and futuristic. I enjoyed the menu system having keyboard shortcuts for everything. Great for micro managing! Difficulty definitely ramped up on week 2, but I can see a lot of potential here. These kind of games always get me hooked =)
I considered making a similar game when I read the theme, it fits perfectly! Loved the messages as you got a new cat, very amusing. This was well executed and the chaos definitely went up as you got more and more cats.
That was a pretty great entry! The aesthetics are pretty pleasing, but the post processing effects got to be a bit much after awhile. I also had trouble executing any throws, but it was still fun. Gotta love jumping around and hoping you don't land on your head! Oh also, I'd suggest uploading as a zip next time, for some reason 7z didn't like your rar and I had to download and install winrar to extract it. I think that the ease of use of zips (no extra software needed on most OSs) outweighs the download size differences for something that's less than 100MB uncompressed.
I'm really digging this art style. I would buy a full version of this game for sure. I ended up stuck after getting the sword, but I really enjoyed what I did play. Great job!
I've always been tempted to try using GODOT for a 2D game. The gameplay feels pretty solid once your armor is gone. It seems like you do more damage as well as move faster. I think it might have been nice if she had a shield or something with the heavy armor so it was more viable.
Those boss fights were pretty awesome! The last one was pretty inventive too. Definitely took me a couple tries. I did run into a few graphical glitches, but other than that it felt and looked pretty solid! That pixel art is superb.
Can't help but laugh every time the date stops talking and looks towards the player. Great job on all of the polish and actually getting a tutorial into the game! Love the artwork too.
Thanks @mrthee and @hoogmin!
@mrthee You get some clues in the game that it's actually set in the future, so I was just trying to estimate inflation a bit. I definitely wanted to work more on the narrative and focus on making social connections with characters, but ran out of time for that.
@hoogmin As for the theme, it's meant to relate to the trade off of choices and negative effects that stack up. For example, if you keep studying for a long time, you start having a whole bunch of negative effects stack up that you need to take care of to continue progressing. You might get really unhappy... which then leads to your character getting depressed... and loosing energy quickly.. which in turn reduces some of your stats over time. It's not very well explained in game though. It's also tied into the story as you reach ranks 5 to advance to the next area and rank 9 to get the ending of the game. Sort of an ignorance is bliss play on the theme.
@totsboy Thanks! I had just finished Persona 4 Golden... so that's where a lot of my inspiration was drawn from for this jam!
@SVR_Audio Thanks a lot! I probably should have focused on getting at least some SFX in instead of hammering away at my midi keyboard making zero usable audio... lessons learned for next time! (That I should have learned from my last jams by now...)
@gamedevbynight Haha, it's almost like the more stats there are the worse it is.... :P I had planned on making the stats disabled until you learned them, and having them gated off until you got past exams, so that way when you start there'd only be a few, and then they would keep piling up.
@11tomi12 Thanks a lot! Glad people are enjoying it =)
@CreativeWhisper I had planned on having the lectures cover the material on the exams.. but I ran out of time for that, whoops! I kind of expected people to just google the questions honestly =) I agree the tie to the theme is hidden away in mechanics that aren't fully explained, I need to work on that next time!
@mess110 Oh I agree, viewing the stats is tedious, if I had implemented the hiding of stats until you unlocked them as I had planned I think that would have helped tie into the theme. With more time I would have at least setup a menu for seeing them all quickly :D
@volatile Glad to bring something different to the table. I really felt like trying something other than a platformer or a top down arpg game like I usually do.
@Simone agreed 100%. I really need to devote some time to learning some basic music skills so I can whip something up for my game jams....
Interesting concept! I was also confused at first and thought that nothing was happening and I was just landing back where I started. But once you get going it's pretty fun to try to keep a chain going. I think it would have helped if you broke the meteor that you were on as you launch off of it, that way you know that you aren't landing on the same thing.
Great job integrated the theme into a core game play feature! Level design was pretty solid. It might have been nice to have some cleansing powerups scattered around so you have more incentive to power through after touching some poison instead of restarting.
That was a fun game! I think it might have been more intuitive to make the player character a shade of red as well so you it's more reinforced that you are on the "red team" taking out the green invaders.
That was an enjoyable game! It's got a lot of the right stuff to fit that prepare and then survive loop. There's definitely some improvements that could be made, but for your second jam this is an outstanding entry! Very moody and felt like a full game.
That was really fun! Quite challenging to play with a trackpad, but still fun! I love the concept! Fits very well with the theme!
That was a great game! Easy to understand the concept and well executed. I agree a checkpoint system would have been nice, but I made it to the end after dying twice, so it's totally doable. I enjoyed the character design, reminds me of playing a leisure suit Larry game.
Very strong ambiance. The lighting effect was well done too. I dig the take on the theme and the game play. Honestly, I could see this working well with some text that pops up telling a narrative as you progress. It gives off one of those deep and artistic type of game feels.
Very solid game! Nothing stood out as unfinished or even unpolished. I could see adding in some more mechanics and having a full game out of this concept, it's really engaging! Loved the idea of having a max size before you burst, really fit well with the theme.
The sound effects and music were really fitting for the game. I agree with the others, the hit boxes for the character did seem a bit large. More knockback on hitting an enemy might have compensated for that, but I found it hard to not get hit when attacking as it is. The game had some great ambiance, I really dug the background art.
Good use of post processing effects. Very challenging to keep up with all of the things that keep popping up. I agree with Jons game, having a pause on the other events when a new thing pops up for the first time would help a lot in trying to learn the new mechanics, but it does make it fit with the theme, so technically I guess it's good in that sense.
Very challenging, but in a good way! The design works perfectly with the theme. Ran into a few areas where I could fall through the map without dying, but it was bug free other than that!
The mechanics feel pretty solid. It might be funner with the early enemies rebalanced to be one hit kills, then you can have them more frequently and feel like powerful grim reaper early on. Nice job overall though, you got a lot of mechanics working!
I was not expecting that music on the death screen! That was pretty fun, managed to kill 18 gladiators on my first go. Seems like strafing to the left works well enough until you start getting too many spawning at once. Plenty of things that could be added, but this felt like a pretty solid game jam game :D
Impressive game considering it looks like you made your own engine! The game was a little laggy for me, but totally playable. The collision detection had a few quirks that actually added to the game. Like the enemies hit boxes seemed a bit bigger than the sprites, meaning there were cases where it felt like your bullet should have missed, but it would hit. This was fun when I managed to take out 2-3 enemies with a single shot in some instances. The enemy bullets would sometimes slide across the walls instead of colliding with them when coming in from an angle and that was a little silly looking, but didn't have a negative impact on gameplay. I think if there was one thing that this game could have really used is a game over screen with a score based on kills / floors explored.
I love the graphics and audio! The animations are very adorable and the textures definitely trigger the nostalgia. The gameplay felt fleshed out, but after playing for quite awhile I didn't get any yarn and kept getting a lot of trade offers for items I didn't have. I would love to see this world fleshed out and more story and mechanics added. I wasn't a fan of the camera controls though. I understand the motivation... but I think some things are better off being left in the past :P
The antibodies that captured the virus and zoomed them off was an interesting take on these type of games. It definitely added another dimension of complexity and strategy. I do wish the player moved a little bit faster, even if that meant that the virus moved faster too for balance.
That was an amusing entry. Protip: once you click Play! you can then spam the space bar to keep activating it instead of clicking with your mouse. I think it could have used like 1-2 more updates after the $5 lootbox like removing the ability to buy the boxes with in game currency to really sell it getting worse the more there is :D

@shinysteel Thank you! I was worried about the sound. I wasted 3 hours trying to fiddle around with some music and couldn't get anything wouldn't have been worse than silence.
@4thwallstudios Thanks a lot! I'm glad it ended up relatable. This game scenario is actually my nightmare fuel
@bovandenberg Haha that's great. One of the NPCs is actually Morty.. by accident. Just decided to give a texture a yellow shirt and then all of a sudden I couldn't unsee it.
@hakro Thank you! I'm glad the sound wasn't too irritating, I was a little worried it might be since it was really rushed.
@conorod I agree, missing instructions in game is something I've done in a lot of game jams in the past. It's hard to think of that when you are stressed for time, but I figured posters would be fitting. I really wanted to do more explaining the mechanics of the game, but time constraints kept me from making more.
Thank you all for the feedback! I wanted to get in a poster that explained the damage system. I assumed people would move away when hit with the damage sound and post processing effects- but I suppose it wasn't obvious enough. Maybe just a text message explaining your situation before the game started would have done it.
There's definitely a lot that could have been polished with that conversation system. I think having a minimum time displayed would have helped. Also a maximum time for final conversation message, or looping back to other messages to prevent needing to back away and come back.
For those mentioning the 360 degree head turns, that's based on your current anxiety. The more anxiety you have, the more the faces will follow the player. I rather liked the effect for the game, but I didn't really mention it anywhere so it could be a surprise.
@corqi Thank you! I started with the movement mechanics before making the play world. I tend to have issues with playing first person games where I can't jump, it just feels so bad to me even if it's pointless.'
@lensflare Thanks! I thought the party anxiety idea was going to be pretty unique when I was working on it, but it turns out there were quite a few others who had the same idea :D
@jka I found the characters amusing to make, I'm glad you approve! Nice idea about the head bob, I forgot some people like that. Never been a fan of it myself, but it would have been easy to implement with a slider for how much head bob. I'm already keeping track of movement to feed into the footstep sound effects, would have probably taken like 5-10 mins to implement.
@chris-coe I'm glad you enjoyed it! I was surprised at how many people related to the idea while I was making it. I had an anxiety attack once at a cousin's wedding, it's rough. I wanted to do more with the jumping when I made it, but then I realized I didn't want to just turn this into a random platformer. Karl grew on me, I wish I could have fleshed out dialogue more in the time I had.
@halomegames oh no! Sorry you had those problems. I ended up taking down the WebGL build... I had to do some tweaks to try and get it to port to that and it just looked awful. I think the lighting glitches there too where sometimes there is none. Glad you ended up enjoying it afterwards! Man I wish I had the time to make the furniture intractable though, I thought about it for a split second then realized it was just out of scope.
@keyurrana Thanks! I wanted to do more posters too, but them time constraints. I realized that the movement probably did feel fast, I just have a hard time playing FPS games where you move slowly personally. I guess I should have added in a sprint / walk mode
@kapiteinkoekwous Thanks, although I couldn't seem to find my game in their vods. I looked through their queue and it looks like they played another game with the same name?
@matank Thank you! I had a lot more planned but spending 3 hours failing to come up with music ended up cutting that out. Probably a pretty rough time to watch in the vod... was running on fumes during that 27 hour stream.
@mza Thanks! I agree the walking sound would have been better with a lower volume and some kickin music, but I failed at my attempts of making music.
@raktou Thanks! It's always surreal when a character in a game has the same name.
@cristihkj Cheers! Glad you liked it!
@maksime haha that's awesome! Did you figure out the strat to speedrun the purse? I should have added in a time played and anxiety received stat at the end game. Would have loved to add in some stuff with multiple solutions.
@alfie275 Thank you! Wasn't familiar with Blendo games, those look interesting!
@doey Thank you! I was rather happy with the effect

This game was so much fun! I feel like I probably could have beaten it on normal with a second attempt. The minigames were all fun! Some of them got impossibly challenging as the difficulty went up, but it added to the stress of trying to get through your drawer of games. Thank you for sharing your game with my stream! Also, I knew your name sounded familiar, I've watched a bunch of your tutorials! Huge honor to have you stop by my chat!
Thank you for submitting your game to my stream! I felt like I could have kept playing it for quite awhile as it was pretty addicting! I could definitely see this being expanded in a post game version. The plug system was pretty innovative and added a neat layer of strategy.
Loved this game! The highscore replayability was very good. Loved the pixelart graphics too, super charming! Thank for sharing it with my stream! I think maybe the object spawn / float speed might have been a little fast and might have added some more strategy feeling to the gameplay if it was slowed down.
Ah looks like I missed the note when you submitted this to my stream. Still, very impressive game! Thanks for sharing your game with my stream awhile back. Your game was played around 0:30 into this vod: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/300724241
I actually had an idea about a game about doing this while brainstorming! Love your execution of the idea. Graphics are really well done! Thanks for sharing the game with my stream. Your game starts at around 3:40 into the vod https://www.twitch.tv/videos/297479036
The aesthetics in this game were 11/10. Some crazy polish here and it was so satisfying to play. The difficulty spike might have been a bit high, but I still had a lot of fun. I could see this working as a tower defense game with some upgrades / weapons etc. I'd buy it. Thanks a lot for sharing the game with my stream!
Outstanding entry! This was a lot of fun and I thoroughly enjoyed it! Thanks for sharing your game with my stream awhile back. Your game was played around 3:10 into this vod: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/298692367

This was a blast to play on my stream, thanks for sharing it! I think the power bar might have been a bit fast for me so I had a hard time doing the precision movements that were required, but I still had a great time! I liked the grabbing mechanics though, that part felt really good.
This is very well done! +1 point. Thanks for sharing your game with my stream awhile back. Your game was played around 5:22 into this vod: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/297885983

I could see this being a lot of fun at parties with custom hardware that ensures that all button presses could be tracked!
@vfabien21 Oh man, whoops! Here's the actual link: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/297052820
@vfabien21 I do have a qwerty keyboard, what I was referencing was the n-key rollover limits that most keyboards have that prevent registering over a certain number of key presses simultaneously.
Really cool concept and it's very impressive how much was done in the time you had! A punchcard based system would have been cool too! Thanks for sharing your game with my stream awhile back. Your game was played around 3:05 into this vod: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/297885983
Thanks for sharing your game with my stream! I really enjoyed the pixel art! Some tooltips for the upgrades would be great, as they weren't entirely intuitive. In case you want a link to the vod: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/297479036?t=11m57s
Loved the character's pixelart graphics! Such a silly take on the theme, I liked it! Thanks for sharing the game with my stream. Your game starts at around 3:20 into the vod https://www.twitch.tv/videos/297479036

Really cool entry! Loved the preview effect for your launches! Thanks for sharing this with my stream! here's a link to the vod: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/297569760?t=03h18m49s
I love the concept of this and the game felt really balanced. Some more enemy variety would have been really cool, but that's expected in a LD entry. Loved the dialogue and design. I even shared this with a friend of mine who played a bunch of it! Thanks for sharing your game with my stream awhile back. Your game was played around 1:47 into this vod: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/298692367

Thanks for sharing your game on my stream! Well done for your first Godot game! Doing game jams with unfamiliar tools is always a daunting task.
Nice pathfinding for the cars! The gameplay was pretty intuitive, even if it was impractical in the sense of getting cars out later. Thanks for sharing your game with my stream awhile back. Your game was played around 5:29 into this vod: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/298692367
Great audio! Those black holes were super spooky. Well done! Thanks for sharing your game with my stream awhile back. Your game was played around 5:18 into this vod: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/300724241

Finally caught up to here in my queue of rating and comments! I did enjoy the guessing mechanic of trying to weigh the worth of the stuff in your bag. Thanks for sharing your game with my stream awhile back. Your game was played around 0:59 into this vod: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/299401837
Interesting game design! Really got a lot of work done in the time of the jam! Well done. Thanks for sharing your game with my stream awhile back. Your game was played around 4:15 into this vod: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/299401837
Great take on the theme! This was a lot of fun and pretty challenging. Puzzling out which upgrades were most important to you felt like a more important decision than choosing upgrades to make a character stronger. Thanks for sharing your game with my stream awhile back. Your game was played around 6:43 into this vod: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/297885983
Gorgeous game! Was really impressed with the visuals. I found myself just playing with mouse and not really using the other controls much, but I don't think that's a bad thing. Thanks for sharing your game with my stream! Here's a link to the vod of your game: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/297479036?t=01h06m35s
This was the funniest entry I've played so far! I absolutely loved the animation and voice acting in this. I mentioned in my stream that it might have been more intuitive to have a pause button next to the play button, but other than that the interface was really intuitive. Some of the goal videos weren't quite what I was expecting, but they were funny still!
Finally getting around to this backlog of rating / commenting at the last minute. I really enjoyed driving your forklift! This was really impressive work for a Ludum Dare entry. Definitely my favorite forklift game of the jam that I played, and I played a surprising amount of them. Thanks for sharing your game with my stream awhile back. I loved the sound effects in this, so great! This was a fun game and very challenging. I found the melee worked fine for me. I would have liked for a bit of a velocity build up on the enemies as when they land they go full speed at you.
Really interesting gameplay mechanics! I liked the fact that we could remove obstacles every few moves, really added a lot of strategy to the game. Thanks for sharing your game with my stream awhile back. Your game was played around 0:05 into this vod: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/297885983

This game was so cute! I adore the pixel art in this. The gameplay loop was pretty solid, I just wish that you placed items 1 tile in front of you instead of 2. Thanks for sharing your game with my stream! I had a blast playing it!
Thank you so much for sharing this with my stream! It was just what I needed after the emotional roller coaster of the previous game I played. It was so adorable and cheery that I couldn't help but smile. The artwork polish looked like a professional game. Would love to see this expanded with more content and goals!
I really liked this! I played this on my first night of Ludum Dare streams if you want to watch the vod it's about 4 hours and 15 mins in: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/297052820
I liked the character sprites, it reminded me of starbound characters. I was also amused with the arrow physics building up piles before hopping up on the platform. I do feel like the sky background felt like it was missing something when compared to the forest. Maybe a gradient that changed as you went up higher?
I adore the pixelart in this game! Really pretty, and it was fun to play! I forgot about flying from the description, so some tutorial on that would definitely help out. Thanks for sharing it with my stream! Here's a link to the vod: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/297479036?t=02h04m10s
Very well done game! Really like all of the pixel art! Thanks for sharing it with my stream. Here's a link to the vod: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/297569760?t=03h39s

Very enjoyable game! Thanks for sharing it with my stream! I love these type of games and would love to play an expanded version of this. If you would like to see the vod from the stream: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/297479036?t=35m54s
Loved all of the mechanics at play in this game! Very challenging, but fun. Thanks for sharing the game with my stream awhile back! Here's a link to the vod: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/297569760?t=01h44m56s
The added complexity as the game went on was really great. I loved all the different rules, but I kind of wish we had more items per level with more varying values to really make decisions. The ability to throw items away being a book was also unexpected- my intuition for the gameplay would let me think I could toss items at anytime. I still had a lot of fun though! I loved all the unique item descriptions.
I was really impressed with the balance in this. Definitely one of the hardest things to get right during a game jam due to the time constraints. Very solid tycoon game! Thanks for submitting your game for my stream!
Gorgeous platformer! Really dug the setting and art direction. Procedural generation is really hard to tune in the span of a game jam, so props on what you accomplished! Thanks for sharing your game with my stream awhile back. Your game was played around 2:00 into this vod: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/297885983
Loved the aesthetic of this game! The gameplay felt pretty solid too! Thanks for sharing your game with my stream awhile back. Your game was played around 5:56 into this vod: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/300724241
Definitely one of my favorite games out of the 200+ that I streamed. It was very enjoyable and chill. Also that man in the winter song is amazing. Thanks for sharing your game with my stream awhile back. Your game was played around 1:53 into this vod: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/299401837
Nice entry! The gameplay loop feels pretty solid. I think the shooting felt a little tedious for the goal of the gameplay, maybe if things had less HP, so maybe 1 shot for crates etc. Then you could have had the debris come in quicker and it'd feel more frantic. Great music track though, really added a lot to the game!
What a silly game! Had a blast playing this, those poor sheep! Thanks for sharing this with my stream awhile back. Here's a link to the vod https://www.twitch.tv/videos/297569760?t=26m30s

Great music! Very challenging game. Thanks for sharing your game with my stream awhile back. Your game was played around 1:12 into this vod: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/298692367
These animations made the game for me. I loved the evolution into bullet hell with the addition of bosses and new enemy types! Really impressive for a Compo game! The dying animations are all just so satisfyingly cute.
This was a really cool concept! Once I got used to the controls it was fun to play too. I think your high score might have made more sense with a lower score being better since the victory state is emptying your factory. Thanks for sharing your game with my stream awhile back. Your game was played around 1:36 into this vod: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/299925225
The art is really well done! Thanks for sharing your game with my stream awhile back. Here's a link to the vod https://www.twitch.tv/videos/297569760?t=45m01s

Billboard 3D is best 3D. Had fun killing all those snakes on that plane! Thanks for sharing your game with my stream awhile back. Your game was played around 3:36 into this vod: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/299401837
Very unique idea. I think adding in an overflow mechanic would have been good too so you have to balance your water level more carefully. Thanks for sharing your game with my stream awhile back. Your game was played around 1:12 into this vod: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/297885983
Loved the design of this one! I could definitely see this being a blast with two players. The AI definitely had a few ticks that ended up easy to exploit, but well done implementing a series of levels and enemies to fight in the span of the jam! Thanks for sharing the game with my stream. Your game starts at around 4:03 into the vod https://www.twitch.tv/videos/297479036
Loved the based on a true story premise! The gameplay was really fun, well done! Thanks for sharing the game with my stream awhile back. Your game starts at around 6:33 into the vod https://www.twitch.tv/videos/297479036 and since my stream automatically split the video up for some reason also at the start of this one https://www.twitch.tv/videos/297569760
I adored the graphics! The cat is so adorable. I feel a little bad that I didn't even use the right click ability and didn't realize what the numbers meant in the UI for your actions until I was almost done playing. I found this game so calming and chill. This is one of the games that pulled me away from chat the most. Thanks for sharing this with my stream!
Had fun playing your game on my stream, thanks for sharing it! The controls felt okay to me, just the inversed directions of what my brain is wired to for isometric. Loved that character model, it was well animated and was a pretty memorable design!
A little challenging to figure out everything at first, but a great entry! Thanks for sharing your game with my stream awhile back. Your game was played around 1:09 into this vod: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/299401837
This was a lot of fun to play! A bit challenging, but very engaging! Thanks for sharing your game with my stream awhile back. Your game was played around 6:18 into this vod: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/297885983
This game was super addictive! I feel like the difficulty ramp up was a bit slow for me, but it was a very satisfying game to play. I loved the art style. The grab animation made me smile every time I saw it. Thanks for sharing it with my stream!
@kapiteinkoekwous Glad you enjoyed the stream! I will be doing more Ludum Dare games 7PM PST Friday and 1 PM PST Saturday. I might end up doing more than that too, but those days are planned for sure.
That background music was hilarious, well done! Thanks for sharing your game with my stream awhile back. Your game was played around 4:41 into this vod: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/299401837
Gorgeous jam game! I loved the entire aesthetic. I love challenging platformers! If I had more time I would have enjoyed playing more of it! I think the checkpoints might have been a bit far for most people playing, but it was a very tight feeling platformer! Based on the queue, it looks like you missed when I played your game. Here's the link to the vod https://www.twitch.tv/videos/297052820?t=10h08m37s it should be about 10 hours and 8 mins in.
This was really fun to play! I really liked the concepts that were implemented. Thanks for sharing the game with my stream awhile back. Your game starts at around 5:24 into the vod https://www.twitch.tv/videos/297479036
Thanks for sharing your game with my stream! Controls felt good to me. I enjoyed the high score challenge setup. I feel like it might have felt easier if the player started with water and the water spawn rate started out higher then slowed down as you survived longer.
That last boss was amazing! Really impressive for your first full game! The sound effects for the bird might have been a little loud, but they were really effective. Great for telegraphing which attack was coming.
Well done for your first game! It took me awhile to realize I could destroy food I didn't want. The game did fit the theme well too. Thanks for sharing your game with my stream awhile back. Your game was played around 1:46 into this vod: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/297885983
Had fun playing your game! Very well done for your first LDJAM experience! Thanks for sharing the game with my stream. Your game starts at around 6:16 into the vod https://www.twitch.tv/videos/297479036
This was a really neat game! I love seeing text based games in LDJAM entries! Loved the overall aesthetic for the game too. I played your game on stream and it can be seen at the start of this vod: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/300724241
Thanks for sharing this game with my stream! I thought it was a really inventive take on the consume smaller shape genre! The constant growing really put pressure on you to find your next target quickly. It was very satisfying to get a combo going together and eat multiple shapes. I couldn't get a very good combo multiplier, but I like that it was an included feature! Well done!
Really cool to see a Pico game on here! Great job! I loved the mechanics, but the game did feel a bit unforgiving. Thanks for sharing your game with my stream awhile back. Your game was played around 0:13 into this vod: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/299401837
This was so great! I loved playing this on stream, thank you for sharing it! The main thing I felt like I wanted was a snappy rotate mode of either 90 or like 45 degree rotations as it would lead more to the fast pace aspect of the game fighting against cold dog timers. Really have fun with the game though, super adorable dog models!
Very snappy controls that felt good! Thanks for sharing your game with my stream awhile back. Your game was played around 1:21 into this vod: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/298692367
Outstanding entry! I loved the pixel art so much. I think a little explanation of having to look in one direction while doing an action would have helped a lot with the rest of the gameplay as that took a long time to figure out. Thanks for sharing your game on my stream!
Very solid entry! The increased pitch of the music really upped the pressure and kept the short loop from feeling too repetitive. Thanks for sharing your game with my stream awhile back. Your game was played around 3:55 into this vod: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/299401837
Incredible job for your first LD! This game was a lot of fun! Thanks for sharing the game with my stream awhile back. Your game starts at around 4:42 into the vod https://www.twitch.tv/videos/297479036
This was a really cool entry! Loved the puzzle mechanics that were implemented and would have loved to see more levels. Thanks for sharing your game with my stream awhile back. Your game was played around 0:59 into this vod: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/299925225
Loving all of the animation in the cutscenes and title screen! It's all so bouncy. The gameplay was pretty intuitive and it was fun trying to slay as many people as possible without being seen. The icons for witnesses were easy to understand and made for satisfying targets. I think just adding in the hotkey to the "Ready to build" text would have helped out to make everything easy to understand without reading anything out of the game. I did notice some FPS issues on my machine, but I'm using a really old GPU on my tower. Overall this is a really impressive entry, well done!
Well done for your first game jam! The first level was a lot of fun, buy wow was that difficulty spike brutal. Would have loved to see some more levels to lessen that jump. Thanks for sharing your game with my stream! Here's a link to the vod: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/297479036?t=02h28m30s
Very unique experience! I liked figuring out the UI personally, it was the main puzzle of the game and made me feel more like I was actually prepping a launch. Thanks for sharing your game with my stream awhile back. Your game was played around 4:05 into this vod: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/297885983
Loved that dancing animation at the title screen! Thanks for sharing your game with my stream awhile back. Your game was played around 5:36 into this vod: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/297885983
This game has a really engaging gameplay loop! Combining items for more money is very satisfying. It would have been nice to get more feedback for sending items out of the conveyor belt. It would have been really addicting if there was some goals of required items to advance too. Thanks for bringing the game to the stream, I had blast playing it!
That was really engaging! I thought it was too easy at first, but then I started getting more barrels and things got rough. Very tight gameplay loop. The music track was really chill too. Well done!
Huh. Same Club confirmed! Nice audio lines, I was thinking of doing voice acting in mine but I realized I just didn't have enough time. I loved the Dare pronunciation line. Your mechanics were also much easier to understand than mine, well done!
This game was hilarious! I loved the concept so much and it was a blast to play! The physics were well done too. Thanks for sharing this with my stream! Here's a link to the vod: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/297479036?t=01h58m46s
Very unique game idea! I really enjoyed the gameplay concept. I ran into a couple bugs, but I had a good time. I think this has a lot of potential for a puzzle type of game with more mechanics added in. Thanks for sharing your game with my stream! Here's a link to the vod: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/297479036?t=02h15m34s
The game has some good systems in place to allow for tactical planning! Difficulty ramped up well too! Having tooltips over units would have really helped and would be a great addition if you plan on expanding this with more units. Thanks for submitting your game for my stream!
Really liked all the mechanics at play in this one! Love the procedural solar systems keeping things fresh when you fail. Thanks for sharing your game with my stream! The vod of your game is here: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/297479036?t=53m25s

Really enjoyed this one! The gameplay was really solid and the graphics looked great! Thanks for sharing your game with my stream! Here's a vod of the gameplay: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/297479036?t=01h26m36s
Really impressive and polished entry! So satisfying to shoot everything! Thanks for sharing your game with my stream awhile back. Your game was played around 1:41 into this vod: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/300724241
I'm not super great at these games, but I had fun! I agree that some limitations would make it a lot more challenging and engaging. Thanks for sharing your game with my stream! Here's a link to the vod: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/297479036?t=01h40m17s
I loved the music! I really wish there was an invert look option as the Y movement was hard for me to get used to. The concept was great though and fit well with the theme! Loved the art direction too, very silly and everything felt cohesive. Oh, also it'd help a lot to lock and hide the mouse cursor when controlling the bubbles. It's a bit of an issue with multiple monitors when you mouse goes off the screen, especially with synergy when my mouse is now being assigned to another computer
This was a really adorable game! Good job getting a lot of features working in the span of a weekend! Thanks for sharing your game with my stream awhile back. Your game was played around 0:47 into this vod: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/300724241
Very interesting take of screen wrapping! I enjoyed this a lot. Thanks for sharing your game with my stream awhile back. Your game was played around 4:54 into this vod: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/299925225
This reminded me of lemmings. Would be cool to see some of the mechanics from lemmings in there to help your penguins. Great job on the graphics too! Thanks for sharing your game with my stream awhile back. Your game was played around 0:55 into this vod: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/297885983
Really cool to see a text based game! Thanks for sharing your game with my stream awhile back. Your game was played around 3:19 into this vod: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/298692367
Very challenging but fun platformer! I did like the sword mechanics allowing you to swat bullets out of the air. It would have been nice if the tracking on the bullets was slightly more forgiving so you could dodge them easier before you get a sword.
Thank you for sharing the game with my stream! I had a blast playing it! I loved trying to figure out different routes to find the optimal path. The difficulty definitely jumped up pretty quickly, but it's something that I wanted to keep playing! Well done!
I had a lot of fun with this one! Adding in some more juice and difficulty ramp up and you would have a really addictive game. Thanks for sharing this with my stream!
There are some neat mechanics here! Had a fun time playing this. Thanks for sharing your game with my stream awhile back. Your game was played around 0:25 into this vod: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/298692367
Now that Keppu mentioned it, the art style does remind me of “Kurzgesagt – In a Nutshell." I enjoyed the clean aesthetic! I found it pretty easy myself, but I used to play a lot of DDR style games on my keyboard back in the day. So the difficulty was probably good. Thanks for sharing the game with my stream!
I loved the old mans animation, especially the hair when jumping! Sorry I couldn't beat it on stream, but I did enjoy it! Thanks for sharing! Difficulty is always the hardest thing to judge during these game jams, I've made a lot of game jam games that no one could beat myself.
This was pretty challenging, but a lot of fun! Thanks for sharing your game with my stream awhile back. Your game was played around 2:56 into this vod: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/299925225
The balancing felt a little off, but all of the mechanics were really solid. I loved the idea of grabbing a folder to sweep up stuff, but it definitely felt a bit unbalanced. It would be cool if there was maybe things you didn't want to delete that would pop in, so you had to be more careful and maybe drag things around to organize your desktop. Thanks for sharing the game with my stream, I had a blast playing it!
This game was gorgeous! The gameplay took me a bit to understand at first, but once I got it I really enjoyed it. I would have loved to see a slower ramp of asteroids coming in and perhaps make them more deadly.
Great job, especially for your first Ludum Dare! Thanks for sharing your game with my stream awhile back. Your game was played around 1:30 into this vod: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/299401837

Really cool puzzle game. It felt really intuitive to play, and unlike a lot of 3d tetris type of games didn't feel frustrating! Thanks for sharing your game with my stream awhile back. Your game was played around 5:16 into this vod: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/299401837
This was a really great entry! I kept seeing it pop up on itch.io while streaming 200+ LDJAM games and finally caved and gave it a go awhile back! Just now catching up on rating and commenting on all those submissions. The music is really catchy and fits well with the overall aesthetic. Your game was played around 5:27 into this vod: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/299925225

This was a lot of fun to play! I agree that having the ship pointing in the right orientation from the start would be nice. The graphics were great and gave a very silly vibe to the game. Thanks everyone! Some good points there. I really didn't put a lot of thought into field size. I ended up running out of time on a lot of things and dropping some initial ideas. My main rational for the small stamina bar was to make things quicker for LDJAM players. I was hoping to get in some alternate things to do though instead of being pretty shoehorned into a pattern with the tools.

Super impressive for the filesize! I managed to escape the world and there was a ton of water and pillars, very pretty but a bit laggy on my 1060. The second weapon was super pretty too, that lighting was awesome! The death effect for the enemies was also really cool looking. It's hard for me to judge the gameplay as it felt slow, but I'm not sure if that was more my laptop than anything else.
I liked the risk vs reward of the two weapons as it felt like the first weapon was more efficient if you didn't miss. Managed to get the "WIN" state after a couple attempts, was a good time! Sorry I couldn't stream your game as it tanked my OBS.

Thanks @nexusviper! What is the problem you faced? I tried to design the levels so that the camera placement shouldn't be too bad for clipping etc unless you go to extremes or are using an ultra-widescreen monitor.
@sefrz Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I wasn't very happy with the indoor camera, but I had already started with a fixed camera and getting it close was the only thing I could think of to make it work indoors without investing too much time in making camera controls. I probably should have prioritized camera controls though judging by comments.
@Robber Thank you! I actually forgot to test it all with a controller, so I'm glad it plays well with one! The cloth was a big struggle, it does fix itself if you stand still a moment. It can get bugged in either world when the character controller moves up quickly - just more common on the stairs.
@nexusviper Ah right! Issues with the depth perception for the jumps, that's understandable. I was considering switching to a straight overhead light source to help that but it felt okay for me while testing the level. Really I should have done a player controlled camera.
@mickxe Thanks! TinyViking did an amazing job with the music in such a short time! All the music was made in one day.
@szabe Sorry the camera was frustrating for you. The jumping felt easy for me, but that's always an issue for level design without iterating through testers. The Firelink Shrine reference makes me happy though, that's what I was going for, but I didn't have time to add in shortcuts. By the way, you don't have to get through the narrow area to complete the game- but I could understand getting stuck at the checkpoint in it.
@mr-field Wow, thank you so much! The names were all people who were in my twitch chat while the game was being made. I was thinking of adding a projection shadow, but I feel for the good ol design issue of it feeling fine for me without one so I put off adding it. If I do a post jam version there will be one for sure! I wanted to have things wrap around with short cuts, but ran out of time on level design- Thinking back, I could have easily added in a teleporter object to bring you back to the shop. Lessons for next time!
@geckoo1337 Thank you! I had a lot of fun learning shader graph during this jam! Definitely going to play with it more before next jam. I love the music, especially considering how quickly TinyViking put the tracks together while dealing with bad allergies. Also, I'm glad you enjoyed the video and got a record of the leaderboard before it was hacked! Always surprises me that people would bother hacking jam game leaderboards.
@gamepopper I'm glad that you think my concept ended up fitting with the theme! I was a bit worried as my original ideas didn't feel very good, but I ended up happy with the end result. I really wanted to add in more enemy varieties as well, but I decided to spend more time on level design and a final boss.
@gamesplusjames Thank you very much! I'm glad you enjoyed it! It was a lot of fun to develop and have you stop by during the streams! I'm pretty happy with the game feel this time around, which is rare for my game jams.
@kuro Sorry the multi-verse concept didn't jive with you! Unless you mean the way it was designed, in which case I agree it was a bit of a hollow hide and seek mini-game. I do wish I had more time to make that bit more interesting too. It definitely gets repetitive fast
@cheesepencil Thanks! There was so much I still wanted to do for mood stuff that I ran out of time on, but I'm glad what I did do worked out okay!
@youbestrong Good job defeating the boss with half damage! I'm glad you like the movement, I tried to give it a mario style jump curve with the way gravity is applied depending on the jump being held and different gravity magnitudes for upward and downward movements. I did try and take in consideration the camera, but there are a few areas that can be a bit rough for depth perception that I would have done differently- mostly the moving platforms on the right.
@lagman9000 I really wish I had the time to add in the vacation scene too! It was really last minute to even get the ending screen in at all with my time going into making the boss during the last couple of hours. I'm glad you enjoyed it anyways though!
@dev-for-pizza Glad you appreciated the humor! I like to try to put more in, but I ended focusing more on the platforming mechanics that I had initially thought I would.
@jaoel I do wish I would have put in a projection shadow or at least turned the directional light to be straight down in retrospect. I had considered it during the development but I fell into the trap of thinking it felt pretty easy to me so it should be okay- and I liked how the shadows looked with the current lighting. I agree, some better level design and hinting for upstairs definitely would have helped, even just some rugs or something. Time limitations had me getting the bare bones of the house in place and then I ended up focusing on just the platforming areas afterwards.
@artyom-volkov Thank you very much! I love the music too, TinyViking did an amazing job making music to fit the concept!
@drvernichter Ah, it's also mapped to the Ctrl key, as well as dash also being mapped to right click, but I didn't actually mention that anywhere. Didn't think about notebooks! I'll update the description with that. Thank you!
@drvernichter Yeah, I agree. It's the default Fire1 binding in Unity that I didn't bother mapping since I made the mistake of thinking everyone would be using a mouse or controller like I was.
@drunk-wizard Thanks! There are a few places that definitely could have used a couple more check points, especially near the lavapit after the double jump (which I should have made the timing on those more forgiving too) - things I will definitely consider next time around! I'm glad you had fun though!
@rongo-matane Thank you! I agree a fast travel back to the upgrade stations would have definitely helped out- and some balancing to reduce the number of souls you need to reap. The enemies really aren't meant to be a way to get currency, as only your life is a good source of currency- just enough to give you some time in the initial doors to reap. I probably should have made that narrow ledge area locked off until later as it seems to have given a lot of people problems. There's actually plenty of doors around that you don't need to do that area. Again, a way to get back to the base easily would have helped it too as getting back can be tedious.
I enjoyed Fluffensnuff a lot! The puzzle mechanics were well thought out and well designed levels! I think one thing that would have really helped the flow would be a level that forces you to do the pushing mechanic (maybe by tunneling you in-between rocks) before the level where you need to push the bird.
Thanks a lot everyone for all the feedback! Really blown away from all of the positive compliments! This was a great learning experience not just in the jam but from all the useful feedback here.
There's a huge consensus on the camera issues there. I will definitely make sure to invest more time into it next time! I've struggled getting 3D Camera movement that felt decent in the past. Part of me thought I would just leave it static to see if I could get away with that with level design like old games of the past did.
I did mean to do something about a drop shadow type of effect, but with my playtesting it felt alright, (I know, common issue for testing your own game) so I put it off to work on other aspects.
I do wish I would have had the time to make the other usernames pull from what other people entered, that would be really neat but totally out of my scope with everything else I worked on. The names are from a static list mostly from people who were in my twitch stream while I made the game.
The reaping section of the game definitely got the least amount of polish, I definitely should have added in some feedback for losing souls and getting kicked out that was easy to understand. To be honest this part feels pretty tedious but I didn't have an easy work around to balance the powerups / ending and number of doors easily.

Thanks everyone! I would have loved to have had more time to implement more gameplay, the crafting mechanics were put in the final hour. I had just gotten to the point where adding content was going to be quick when I ran out of time. The lack of sound really bugs me since I was going to implement footsteps based on what you were stepping in and had some plans to do that quickly... and of course having the baby bird make noise when its hungry with varying volume levels / frequency to let you know how hungry it was.
Thanks all! Yeah, this would have really benefited from me doing the jam so I could get in more crafting and things to do as well as SFX and music, but since I had work Monday I decided to just stick to the compo. I'm glad people do appreciate the systems I got in place even if I ran out of time to flesh them out with content. I tend not to update jam games, but this one is tempting to add more content to since I just got it to the point where it would be quick to do when the deadline hit.
I'm glad people like petting the bird! When I realized I could add it in, I knew I had to do it and it became top priority. I'm glad people recognize that I overscoped this,
@talops So what I failed to fully hint at in the game was that the parent bird was just flying off away and it comes back when the baby bird gets really loud. Original idea was you had to keep the baby bird alive as the parent was missing, but once I made the baby bird I realized I didn't want to anime it dying. But it's all about keeping the baby bird fed so it doesn't call loud enough for its parent to hear. I think I mention giant bird tracks in the beginning text, but I ran out of time to add in much story stuff I had planned for all of that and of course the lack of SFX really ruins one of the core mechanics. I was going to make the campfire give you bonuses when resting near it- leaves are only used in the axe crafting as I ran out of time for more with them- and the burns were just a joke item for trying to pick up fire.
@rohezal I'm glad I finally made your dreams come true! Lol, yeah the death animation is a bit silly, but I had fun making it at least.
@loginaut I agree, tile highlighting would be great. Something that I seriously want in the game that I was originally inspired by for the start of this game (Animal crossing). If I do a post jam version, it'll be in for sure.
@ultrarat That's a good point, I had setup all messages to freeze movement, but adding in support for timed notification messages that don't would definitely be good too.
@saltfactory-studio I really wanted to add in the ability to built a tent and place down more items etc, and had a lot of the framework in place when I hit the deadline. Definitely something to think about if I make a post jam version.
@acronaut Eat all the things! I was going to add in more actions for items, but deadlines stopped that. I had planned on just adding in some invisible walls and even mentioned it a couple times while streaming the development, but just ran out of time. Letting people walk off the edge of the map feels pretty bad for sure. Also yeah, adding in some help dialogue from the actions menu would have been so easy and quick, hindsight!
Sorry about the motion sickness inducing camera, I should not have added looking at the player and just made it track position, my bad there!

Thanks everyone! I definitely would have loved more time to get the dialogue more fleshed out with better hints on what to do, literally wrote the majority of the dialogue in the last hour and barely got the ending in.
I think the concept could be pretty cool with a lot more dialogue work and things to figure out. I had a lot of ideas about the character just bringing up knowledge to people that he shouldn't be able to know to be able to skip ahead in progress... I was also going to add a time limit so that the knowledge shortcuts would be useful. Sort of like a way to have checkpoints as the day resets. I am pretty happy with the shooting challenge though!
Would have loved more time for adding in all the branching dialogue ideas I had! I wanted to make it so you had to collect dirt on people, and then once the knowledge was gained by completing quests you'd keep them for the next day.
@creamybacon2 There's technically two ways to Save Carl, but they are the same ending since the ending was literally last second addition.
**Here there be Spoilers!**
@doc-moustache Yeah, you have to navigate Teri's conversation to advance the plot. The first thing you need to do is unlock her 4th initial conversation option which allows you to approach her as someone from her past that already knows her. The notes will unlock a 4th name from her past to choose from there which then unlocks her challenge.
Thanks Fraxle!
@eldar Thanks for all those impressions! There's definitely a lot of polish that I ran out of time to do there that could have helped. Not sure why Delete didn't work for you, but I only tested it on a windows desktop build- wasn't the numpad version though. Dang sorry about the aiming too, I was hoping to have time for sensitivity options menu in game, but alas my time was so tight that 90% of the dialogue was written / put in during the last hour as well as the ending. BTW if you talked to Carl after killing the Sheriff then you got the same ending as completing the challenge, so you beat the game! (Also yeah, I thought about Teri saying something else before shooting and more reactions to you missing etc, but I just didn't have time :P )

This was fun! Played this with some friends on discord and experienced a few rounds. I don't think the survivors won any of the games... but I can't imagine trying to balance a game like this during the span of a jam.
Would be great if there was a limited view area instead of dependent on browser window size- maybe zooming the werebears visibility down so that hiding could be more effective.
Awesome to see an asymmetrical game with more than one "killer" though, it definitely changes the dynamics compared to others I've seen.
@sakii Thanks! The terrain is procedurally generated which is what took my first night of the jam to write.
@morphine Thanks! The slimes and any extra gear was meant to be brought to the grinder in your mining vessel- you can drag and drop into the red area to fuel your base to drill deeper into more areas to explore. Interesting note on the shield, I found dual wielding swords more OP when I could insta kill things
@attala Thanks! Yeah sound would have been my next thing on my list, but I just didn't have enough time. (Same with a quit button or sensitivity options for mouse look) - always a list of things like that at the end of 48 hours ;) As for story, it's not a spaceship but more like a diving mechanism made by dwarves and wizards fueled by grinding magic energy from things you grind up ;) - I did think the sword was kind of silly tech wise, but I wanted a roguelike dungeon crawler first.
@death-is-cold Thank you! That is how it goes, especially when I start scope creeping an inventory system that's way too complex for a compo game (barely even had time to have any content to be used in it)
@kovakomes That comment made my day! Love your description, makes me want to work more on this. I ended up very happy with how dual wielding turned out, glad you found some enjoyment from it.
@gamesplusjames Thanks james! Dual wielding was my favorite feature- I just wish I had more time in compo to add in more things to dual wield with. I felt like I might have spent too much time on the slimes, but seeing people's reaction I'd say it was worth it :)
@sockpuppetcow Oh yeah that's a bug I noticed but didn't document. It's kind of an issue of the equipment all being associated with my UI, items are there but just don't equip until the ui element is on screen.
@sam-wallach Thanks! Yeah If I had more time I'd probably make that an option to switch as it's definitely a preference thing. I think that's due to people being used to right hand swings being left click for attacking and blocking being set to right click.
@vknauss Thanks! I definitely spent way too much time on the inventory system and fixing duping bugs. I had plans to add in color palettes based on how deep you were, but that was way out of scope for all the other things I had to drop. I might keep working on this though and add in more variations :)
@curryrice Thanks! I was really happy how the generation turned out, I kind of winged it and did very little tweaking to the parameters. I am tempted to work more on this since I like the design loop of having a base in a roguelike that you are using to progress with by collecting loot- I haven't played Valkyrie Profile, I'll have to check it out!
@miej Thanks! I keep telling myself procedural generation is a bad idea for game jams, yet I keep doing it because it's what I have the most fun with :)
Thanks everyone! I'm glad I spent the time to fix the dual wielding bugs I was running into as it turned out to be a feature that people enjoyed :D
@soarendev Oh I know! I was close to getting the scaling stuff in, I had some of the base backbones for supporting random stats on gear and did actually have the slimes damage scaling based on the depth- (it just goes up 1 damage per floor I think) - I wanted to add in more enemy types as you got deeper too, which wouldn't have taken that much further
@javicoder I agree! Music and sound were pretty high on my todo list, but my todo list for this ended up too long for the 48 hour compo. I actually spent some time before LDJAM to practice withsome music gen / tweaking tools so I could have music this time.... oh well there's always post jam :D
@don-tnowe Thanks! I'm still not happy with the lighting, but I ended up spending way too much time tweaking it. Yeah UI is missing a lot of things- escape to exit menus would have been nice- which is worse when I have a menu pop up when you press escape in post jam version which will overlay the other menus, whoops! I just barely managed to get equipping things working though in the 48 hour time limit with all of the other systems, so it is what it is. Item autopickup would probably be good given the few items in the game now, although I had planned for the system to be one where you wouldn't want to pick up everything later on (lack of time to add in more items)
@steffy Yeah, sounds like I should of added in inverting the right and left click as an option for some people- I'm just very used to left click being used for primary attack and then right click for blocking (how it works in game if you equip a sword in right hand and shield in left).
@devnoob Thanks! I definitely felt that running out of time to add in the content is a running theme in my jams lol
@meta-link Thanks! Definitely going to be a few bugs with how much I tried to cram into the 48 hours ;)
@studio-gomp That's really odd! I have no idea what could be causing that for you. For the cave generation I am using a 2d grid of booleans to mark solid or open, I start by clearing a circle for the starting area- then I start making snaking patterns off from the edges of the circle that starting moving away from the open area and tunnel into the solid and will randomly change direction slightly every so often- after the path is saved from that I then take the path and widen it using my circle tool with random sizes to open it up further and then generate more tunnels off of the edges of the walls.
@staircase27a Thanks! Yeah, I ran into that as well but didn't have time to fix it. That's my bad for writing my equip logic tied to my UI and ran out of time to decouple it to have it automatically equip when loading a new level.

Very impressive compo entry! The 3d models have a lot of detail! 10/10 trash animations. I did find the gameplay a bit easy as you can just walk backwards and wait for the enemies to lunge then bash them- but for all you got in during a compo entry this is very impressive! Love the dodge roll animation too
Fun game! The concept is neat! I really like the idea of trying to get a certain number or even different goals for each round that others are suggesting. I could see like maybe one round the goal is to get largest number, another smallest number, the next could be closest to 0 etc. That'd be challenging to sync asynchronous though unless it was a set pattern of rounds people did.
@hacksawunit Thanks! Yeah there needed to be a bit more telegraphed there I think. We could definitely have added in some tutorialization of smaller cores that needed a single zap to fix or something for example. I would love to see speedrunners break the game! I had fun trying to zoom through some of the stuff. We might have designed a few things with that in mind :)
@badpiggy Nice! I agree the fans need some tweaking, especially that one that sends you upwards in the last level. The final level was really thrown together in the last minute so it didn't get much testing. Not quite sure what you mean by camera locking - is that the vertical axis limits or something else you are referring to? Ah shoot, I don't think I even mentioned that you can zoom in and out with scroll wheel in the game or description pages come to think of it.
@ollieoa Thanks! I had a lot of fun with tweaking the movement code. I agree, the bugs definitely didn't pose much of a threat. I should have definitely have made them quicker and maybe have a bigger aggro radius. But hey, at least it tracks how many bugs you left in your system at the end, so there is some motivation to squash them all :P
@benk Thanks! There actually is inverting camera and sensitivity options- I just did not advertise them in game as you need to press Esc to get to the options! I agree a level count would be good- I think we ended up with 17 levels in total. It was in the stretch goals to add in a level select screen, but it did not make it in as adding in a final level was higher priority.
@gustavb I think I probably should have made the inverted Y not the default, my bad! I also should have advertised the options to change that better in game ;)
I'm a bit confused on what you mean by the bot rotating towards the camera when on ground and not when in the air. The controls don't change for air / ground movement for rotation or camera alignment - but the amount of acceleration when in the air is highly reduced so that you keep momentum when jumping. The rotation is just based on the current velocity for what direction the bot is facing. I do think I might have made the acceleration a bit low in the air so there isn't enough control. For example, if you are standing still, jump, and then move- the rotation will face towards the direction you pressed with the same relation to the camera as when you are on the ground. If it's not behaving like that, then that might be some odd bug, since that's how it's behaved for me and others that have tested it.
@peachtreeoath Welp, it did say not to click it! I was surprised we managed to get that many levels out too. The ninja warrior section is one of my favorites too.
Interesting criticism, we actually decided to do that on purpose as it often feels like games use mechanics once right after introducing them and then never again so we tried to vary it up a bit- but that being said we didn't get much time to playtest our level order, that's something that's best done by watching people play test the game though.
Glad you had fun with our game!
@fupi Thanks! I was surprised at how much we got done too since that was my first jam with Godot! I agree saving zoom level was one of the things on my checklist that did not make it in before the deadline.
@cavejohnson332 Definitely noted to change the default to not be inverted. Also there is the option to change the inverted camera, but I didn't end up putting in a note in game you can press Esc to get options while playing and I should have really put in options from the title screen too.
I love the aesthetic of this game and the crazy rules. I couldn't manage to pull off any runs, but I managed to get close a couple times. Like others said, the juice in this game is great and you can really feel the impact of every shot. I really wish we could do a dive for cases where the ball decides to redirect after bouncing vertically.
Always look forward to playing your games during LDJAM! I didn't do streaming this time around, but I did have a lot of fun! The mechanics are very solid, although it's definitely a bit on the difficult side. It took a few attempts and one time I managed to be 1 wood short of getting to the portal before dying. Honestly, I'd be interested in trying randomly generated maps, even if they often were unsolvable.
Love all the polish and attention to detail in this! Really easy to forget this is a jam game while playing. I could easily see this working well on mobile too, I know I'd play it. Although I'd need a way to move the screen about the visible area- unless I missed that.
Atmosphere in this is really good! It's easy to get into zen mode with the music and aesthetics. I do wish I could play with keyboard controls- but I have a niche issue with a lot of unreal engine games not properly locking cursor and if I move my mouse too far it loses focus of the window. I had fun with it when I did manage to keep it under control though! :)
This was a lot of fun! It's a very solid and satisfying core loop. Even though there's only a couple enemy types, the groupings kept things feeling fresh. The boss was great and was definitely intimidating when he first showed up.
I do think the health regen felt a bit overpowered, as I could sit there with enemies wailing on me and heal through that. I think maybe making the enemies interrupt your healing would force you to get some distance to heal at least.
Animations were great though, loved the telegraphs for the charge attacks. Music was a good bop too. Excellent entry!
unknown.png
Pretty solid shooter! Trying out different weapons was fun, would have loved for there to have been more motivation to use them - like enemies dropping ammo for certain weapons for example. I found myself just using the energy beam in the end as I was mowing down groups of enemies. Still, it was a fun jam entry, well done!
Love the expressions on the characters! The release mechanic is pretty interesting, it definitely adds a good layer of strategy and it's fun to send the other player flying! The audio gave me some nostalgia to NES games I had as a kid for sure, quite effective.
Great platforming mechanics! The portals were definitely challenging with the bullets all over the screen. Managed to get a score of 10, wasn't sure if there was a goal other than that. Them green portals are mean :D Teleporting was fun though! I did have a couple deaths from portals spawning in too close to me, but that's something that's hard to balance for people who just stand in one spot.
Caused a wipe twice and no one insulted me, I want a refund on my simulator.
j/k - that was a lot of fun! I didn't end up using the second spell much since it was so slow- only time I ever used it was when I put a shield up and did a risky heal hoping it would hold up my tank long enough. Failed once from that and was a lot more cautious with it. I think the damage around 6+ is just too quick to make good use of the 2nd spell.
Oh my gosh so many comments! Thanks all for the feedback! I'm glad the ear worm is infecting so many people
Second guessing my choice to not be more explicit on telling people one of the core game mechanics or being a lot more obvious with it. There's hints from the combo text as you get more combos, but it takes time to unlock and most people in jams aren't going to run into it.
@bhughes We thought about that at first, but the issue is that we want to encourage people to spam the left/right quickly as well and there's no way to get that to look good animation wise without spending the whole jam on animation tech, so we settled on making the left/right increase/decrease your overall run speed.
@anoma1y Sorry about the random freezes, that's an issue with loading in audio for the first time in HTML5 that I couldn't find any solutions for. It should be smooth after things have played though, although mileage will vary based on your PC of course.
@nardandas You do indeed win as far as I've seen! My personal record is 2500 and you blew right past that, well done!
For those not figuring out the mechanic, I wrote a post with some more information about that here: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/50/earworm-jam/on-making-mechanics-obvious
But, I do want people to have a chance of figuring it out on there own so do give it a try :)
@forgin-bits that it is! Glad you enjoyed the nightmare fuel that we made lol
@not-tomo oh dang, I think we have a new high score! Thanks for playing :)
Glad so many people are enjoying it so far! Thanks everyone for your comments!
@asukanami Not sure why that would show up, but the game does require WebGL and will run awfully without hardware acceleration on. I only have tested it on chrome personally, but I had reports of it working fine on edge and firefox as well.
@vixenmink Game does require hardware acceleration to run decently with webGL, also it should run better if you don't reload the browser but just play another round it should be more consistent. There's an issue with audio loading in Godot with multiple scenes on HTML5 export and having hiccups when loading the audio for the first time.
@shadow64 That's really odd! From what I've found there's some issues with audio loading in on HTML5 export in godot with multiple scenes, but once it's been loaded once it's in memory and should be smooth after that.
@gamesplusjames Glad you enjoyed it! I had a blast making it :)
I'll try and get a windows version exported for people to play as well, the current issue is there's some bug in export that changed the lighting so we tweaked the game to look decent on web sacrificing how it looks on a standalone build.
@shadow64 Good idea, I went ahead and added that to the itch page! Thanks for trying it again :)
Spoilery Stuff for gameplay mechanics ahead!
@morricore Yeah, we definitely didn't make that aspect of the game obvious enough that this is actually an anti-rhythm game. Another huge joke as a Dune reference that's in there by just by hidden mechanics... well and one of the worms does reference Fatboy slim - Weapon of Choice when you walk by. The hint that the pink text combo messages are the big worm isn't very obvious especially since people tend to not pay much attention them.
@shrillwhip It's possible the delay is different based on your audio / video devices could make it desynced, but the window is actually probably more generous than it should be for the fact that it's an anti-rhythm game.
Love the concept of an endless card game battler! Presentation is very solid, those cards are very stylish and physical during gameplay. Sound really helps sell that too. I couldn't ever survive very far, and it took me a bit to realize I could spend a turn to move a hero. Death definitely was inevitable though! One round I started with four shadow beasts and didn't even try to do anything lol. I could easily get into playing this more if it were a little less inevitable and had some unlock mechanics ;) Felt very polished though and mechanically very sound.
Mood is knocked out of the park. I had some issues sorting since my neural network got scrambled from a lack of sleep, but pushed through and got to the end. I enjoyed the different types of sorting blocks and combinations of them. A clever way to keep the system interesting while continuing the story.
Getting a 404 from the itch.io link
Always look forward to playing your teams games on jams! This one was no exception, great stuff! I do wish the towers felt more impactful over increasing the area your orriors cover. Like if they could be manned by 1 orble as an archer for example and helped prioritize titans that are close to a tower. I think the biggest issue I had was when my orriors would run off into the crowd of titans. That being said, the economy mechanics are really solid and once I figured out I could stop roads anywhere instead of having to connect them I found it a lot easier to organize my buildings. Had a blast playing! Didn't actually get all 3 orbs yet, but I'll try and come back and see if I can later when I have more time :)
Wow that's an impressive jam game! Took me a few retries to figure out how to make everyone happy, and it was definitely stressful, but it was a rewarding play! This is actually really similar to one of the things I thought of for this theme, and very well executed! Love the pixel art and all of the mechanics at play.
This was lovely! The art is great and the interface is smooth. I'm a huge fan of bees in games so this gets bonus points for that! I also liked how quick it was to go through a playthrough, it didn't feel too quick to be fulfilling, but a lot more bite sized compared to a lot of visual novel type of games.
Wow this game is oozing with style! Those animations are so good and there's so much that works well mechanically. Well done!
This was really cute! I like how the eyes end up on the shark when the jellyfish is eaten. Stamina system to charge forward was good for some added depth. Managed to get 68K one round :grinning: It was definitely a very chill experience once you got a bit of a lead on the shark. Would have loved to see some fish friends swimming around too. The background looks great though, love the water effect!
This was great! Excellent use of the theme and I can see what you mean about not explaining the mechanics for some people. I think this had enough of a draw, but I could see some people not realizing there is more pretty early on, a very tough balance. I think it was well balanced here though, very enjoyable story and getting back to the state before the deletion was a very satisfying way to end it.
That was really charming! I liked the strategy that having a moving safe zone brought with prioritizing which enemies to take out first. Leveling up felt rewarding and new enemies popping in kept things fresh. Well done!
I got really into the flow of feeding him and didn't realize that there was a limit on how long he'd stay around. Managed to make a profit of 1691 though! Platforming felt good and was pretty easy to traverse, the air launcher was super useful to getting a good flow going. I wasn't sure what the point of some of the lower lamps were for... unless those are just to increase overall heat? I had assumed the lamps needed to be on near the plants, but I realize now that maybe they just needed the gel to grow and I could have prioritized keeping lights on closer to the gomma to reduce carrying energy as far? Really great entry though!
Farming and cards is not two genres I would have thought of mixing, but I love it! I dig the setting and the story you get as you complete your goal. Would plant more collards again.
Oh this is awesome! One of my favorite games I've played yet. Love the way the spells combo into each other and you have to figure out the timing. Managed to clear it all on my first playthrough with the cards I picked. Would love to have been able to build decks and swap out cards to experiment more, but that's a lot of work and hard to design in the span of a jam ;) Another thing I would have like to see is a way to quickly reset like pressing "R" for example instead of having to wait the whole 10 seconds. Absolutely love the mechanics and art!
@nyxkn thank you! Not sure which buttons you are talking about as both sets are hooked up to puzzles.
Thanks all for the feedback! Glad people are enjoying our crabby game :D
@cosmonautical Triggering the button on top of the pillar opens up the area with the secret pineapple- but that's easy to miss that's what it does as there isn't a clear connection. If we had more time I had planned to add wires between active puzzle pieces to see where the button goes, but alas the puzzles were done in the last stretch of the jam.
@defrag Honestly, I probably should have just let people skip the tutorial by going backwards, but was worried people wouldn't get the main mechanic so it does lock you out until the bird steals your can. Though the tutorial is quick to get around if you aren't looking at the floor. Also the save system keeps track of if you've completed the tutorial and once you have the door is always open.
I'm pretty bad at it, but replaying the tutorial was pretty neat! Loving the dialogue and all the attention to detail put into this. I don't think it helps that I haven't slept before playing this, but I am enjoying it even if I can't deduce very well!
This was an awesome entry! The different guns had some interesting mechanics that I haven't seen in a typing type of game. I think the one issue I had was when there was a lot of zombies stacked up it was hard to see what word I was typing and I couldn't keep typing any other words nearby when I had the sniper rifle. I could see this getting a lot more tactical if it was a little slower paced and you planned out combos with different weapons and alignment of zombies. I think that would play well with the limited ammo and trying to make the most of your supplies. Great entry though, I had fun!
This has some cool ideas! I think it could add some extra tension if maybe 1 powerup you were given like you are now, and then a second powerup would randomly spawn somewhere on one half of the map for each player to encourage the players moving to different locations. One player could even be overly aggressive and move in to enemy territory to steal their second powerup. Might work well if there was zones you were allowed to place down the targeted power up. It's challenging to get the full experience playing it solo, but I can definitely see how strategy could evolve between multiple matches with other people!
This was quite challenging, but a lot of fun and didn't feel unfair at any time which is pretty impressive for this style of game. Managed to get through with 80 retries, and felt like I wanted more so that's always a great sign. Well done, love all the polish and appreciate the audio sliders!
Absolutely love all of the style going on in this. The graphical design is great and fits the game perfectly! I do agree that more feedback on where your swapping characters and perhaps some more juice added when you clear a row would improve the overall feel, but the game is very solid and fun to play! I like the idea of getting different powerups as you go through and how it switches up the playing field, but I didn't make it too far as the difficulty jumped a bit too quickly for me. I thought it might be more accessible if it started with 3-4 letter words at level one and didn't have so many six+ letter words until you made it through a few levels.
Really love the art for this! The UI of the arts falling when you get hit was a nice touch. It was getting a little frustrating that space / enter didn't select "retry" and I had to click on the button, but that was all alleviated when I actually looked and found out that I could just use "R" to reload. It would be nice for the retry button to react with space or enter though. Managed to clear with 89 seconds total, I think I missed 1 butterfly along the way, whoops. Still, pretty solid complete experience! That last level definitely took me a couple retries to get the jumps right ;)
This is neat! I played a bit of it and thought it would be really interesting to mix this with a paper's please style of story where you might get suspicious orders like for poison etc and make moral decisions on your orders. Definitely hard to hit that kind of scope for a jam game, but just what came to mind when I first got a request for a love potion and sent the wrong thing by accident. I liked how on the farm there was a potion shop you could click on to return to the crafting while still keeping the quick buttons on the top, I enjoy having both options for traversal and would love to see that expanded.
This ended up being a lot more fun than I was expecting! Good twist on the sliding puzzle genre. Awesome sound track too!
Thanks all for the feedback! Glad people are enjoying it so far!
@itzemii Yup, everything was made by me in 48 hours for compo rules! I really wanted to add more variety to the weapons to make them feel different like fun names and sprites, but that did not make it in.
@weirdybeardyman Oh yeah, I didn't end up with any time left for tutorialization, I tried to make things intuitive, but there's definitely some mechanics that aren't very clear- like dashing and rolling giving you iframes or rolling allowing you to move over difficult terrain quicker.... or even the fact that there is difficult terrain.
@bentglasstube Oh that's interesting- where you using mouse to move or keyboard? I have no idea what would cause issues moving left and right - unless you were moving over difficult terrain like rocks etc since those do slow you down.
The chillest experience I've had yet! A very welcome break and quite relaxing to play. I love that you can pick up the tractor and it auto rotates back to being upright and you can place it down wherever. I got stuck on the rock and figured that one out! Picking up things feels very satisfying too. Also really appreciate that you don't have to mow down every single crop and that after reaching a threshold the harvesting is complete, so nice to not have to worry about getting 100%
Another excellent game! Lost a bit of time to this, but my lavender empire is complete! Impressive how much you all accomplished in the jam! Most of my issues I had was minor quality of life things like being able to remove things that were placed. I did occasionally find dirt tiles that could no longer be planted on, but it was pretty rare. There was also some y sorting glitches, but didn't cause any gameplay issues! I did get stuck in a wall once after placing it, but managed to wiggle out during dawn. I love how the friends all go to sleep during the horde night- I'm sure that helped out performance a lot too! I did get some performance issues near the end with the giant swarms... but I'm pretty sure that also had something to do with my silly base. All in all, outstanding entry! Definitely my favorite jam game I've played so far!

The time limit felt a bit tight for the first wave, failed my first couple attempts, but was fun once I got past that! I like the expressions on them as they progress! I agree with maymay, the pacing might have felt better if we started with some currency or the seed price was reduced for getting a second plant going.
Ohhh a fellow godot entry! My time was 464! I did find myself mostly just sticking to the ground and not doing a lot of flying as it didn't seem any more efficient to do try to go higher and dive down compared to just staying level with the ground. Felt good to play though! Although I did wish the completion metric was a bit lower since it felt like I was mowing down little bumps to get the final bit. Like if maybe the goal wasn't to fully harvest everything, but to just get a full days worth of harvest it might have removed the tedious bit at the end.
The controls took me a minute to get used to, but it was very interesting to play once I did get used to it! I like the different mechanics for slow and fast growing tiles and how that played into the combos. I would have liked to maybe see quality fertilized plots too where you might plan on ending your combo of a vegetable with the high quality plots. Fast food was definitely the funnest level! (Also one of the only ones I managed to get a decent score on lol) - I think some floating text when harvesting would add a lot of juice to the game - letting you know if it was an early / perfect / late harvest etc.
Great game! Difficulty ramps up fast, didn't manage to get a second scythe, but had fun playing!
Very satisfying to play! Would have loved to have like an auto harvester node that harvested the 8 adjacent cells, so you could go around planting donuts and reaping the profits. The different shapes for plants was unexpected and a fun incentive to be picky about what land you buy so you can optimize your current flow. It was pretty easy to max out everything, but not something I'd complain about for a game jam scope! Makes me think I want more to play, which is always a good thing for jams :)
Wow that was so polished and full of content! The aesthetic works so well and the characters and writing is cute. Puzzles were a little on the easy side, but still very enjoyable! One of the best compo games I've played not just out of this jam but out of all the jams!
Ohhh this is an interesting take on minesweeper! At first I thought I was just playing minesweeper, but once I noticed I could plant crops that changed everything! Love the application of the theme and mixing up a classic!
Cute platformer! I like the aesthetics of the characters and levels! Sometimes when falling it wouldn't trigger death which meant I had to reload the page and restart from the beginning, one thing I've found works well is adding a y sanity check on a player model to kill them on platformers if it is far enough down. I also noticed that jumping didn't work when walking off the edge of platforms, so adding a bit of coyote time to your floor detection would help there. Did have fun though, great compo entry!
I like the concept of speeding up with the combos and trying to optimize your route! I also ran into some teleportation and a bit where I got stuck off the track, but it was fun zooming along and clearing out the fields, nice theme tie in!
Took me a bit to realize how to fight, but was a fun little game! I was pretty excited once I planted the second crop.... definitely left me wanting more :D Love the farmer sprite by the way, nice bobbing animation!
Absolutely love the pixel art and mood you have setup with this! I agree with others that the start of the game is really tough, but I like the mechanics at play! Not sure why those thieves don't just want to share the fire instead of having to steal it :D
Absolutely love the art! So much fun to look at the jury members! It took me a couple times to realize how the scoring was being done and then when I got to needing 24 points I realized my memory is not good enough to prevent duplicates  Still had fun though, great entry! Sfx were really amusing too.
@lectvs Thanks! The random items around wasn't in the original premise but after having them in testing it just felt like the way to go, would have loved to have more randomization with that!
@brandsma I'm a big fan of the talking blips! A nice think of SokoMaker is its robust dialogue display system! I should have made more use of the colored text ability...
@doctor-zeus Oh wow so many great ideas! I dig the expanded scoring mechanics, if we move forward with the game that's definitely something I'd like to explore. Originally we had thought about making silhouette summons and requiring specific items to get the right ones, but that was one of the many things that didn't make it in.
Oh I didn't even notice cupcake description was off :cold_sweat: - didn't have a lot of time for testing as I was going head down on content mode with all the art / levels / random content!
we did actually think about adding mouse support to SokoMaker, but after getting the basics of carrying and dropping items decided to go with what was already supported. There's definitely a lot of trade offs there, but I agree an inventory system would be nice to have! I think that's the way I would go so you don't have to keep carrying stuff downstairs then go back to pick up another item. Also I think having mouse control of items from inventory to summon area would be nice! So you could still carry and drop stuff the same way, but also supporting alternative mouse dragging items around would be great.
We had considered making the randomization much more roguelike with some inspirations from balatro in being a scoring based puzzle game that resets if you fail.... but that was scrapped for time constraints. I do think it could be an interesting flow of trying to get a high score run with more randomization and balancing of course!
year37.png
I think I beat the game? Ended up with three parties that could clear level 3 pretty consistently. Found stacking dwarves to be pretty effective! A lot of the other classes kept dying so stopped hiring them
Had a lot of fun! Always look forward to checking our your jam entries when I can! The overall game loop was pretty satisfying, although I did wish I could keep throwing money at people once I amassed thousands of gold... oh well gotta pay for retirement somehow!
Oh man I made it to the final level but could not survive  I love the controls for this! Reminds me of playing Black & White with the spells in that, and this felt like it had better recognition! It did feel like there might have been a cooldown on some of the spells? I think that would have been a neat mechanic to show visually like in MMO hotbars how each spell has a countdown or bar timer before it can be used again, that would also encourage using different spells more! I could also see having some buff spells in there add a lot of playstyle choices too like a simple heal, magic shield or a knockback AOE blast!
Very challenging but rewarding to play with the mechanics! The level with the two vultures defeated me, but I feel like I could have gotten it eventually! I dug the spamming blocks to build a tower. I just wish there was a visualization on the boxes when they were about to crumble, and I agree with others some coyote time for them would be great too so you have a moment to react. There was a few times where I died due to weird interactions, like moving left after pushing a block to the right killed my character for example where the limited lives felt a bit restricting for a jam game. Overall it was a blast to play! Could easily see it being expanded.
That's a fun summon mechanic! It reminds me of casting spells in black & white! That's actually what I tried to do for a bit before I realize the gems had a hitbox to go through. I did have some collision issues with them a bit, but once I got used to that I was spawning all the monsters! Fun entry with some great art!
Very satisfying! I could see it being interesting if summoning required more than one smack of the forge, like if you had a progress bar to fill. I just like smacking the forge and want to do it more
Managed to make it to wave 16 though on my second go! Was so close to being able to summon one of the big dudes with the blue gems, but I was overwhelmed in the end.
I really enjoyed the camera and the overall vibe! I definitely wish there was maybe positive things that spawned on the map you could move towards to help you survive, like maybe mana regen items that spawned in or upgrades etc.
I think the one thing that felt unfair to me was it seemed like the enemies AI would move and then attack, but my skeletons would only attack if there was a dude right next to them, and then move randomly often away from enemies. A fast forward button might be useful for when you are watching enemy turns, or maybe let all of the enemies that are far away and just going to move auto resolve without panning to them and waiting on them individually. Did remind me a lot of the flow of final fantasy tactics, which definitely has that same issue.
Overall I had fun testing it out though, definitely a solid start that is engaging!
The artwork kept me motivated to try my best to get through all the levels! The timer did make some of those levels pretty challenging... I almost felt like trying to hook up my tablet to see if I could do any better with that, but I rarely use it so I doubt it
Definitely getting some Pendleton Ward vibes from some of those designs, love it! I do feel like having more time and then a submit button if you finish early would be nice, I got through a lot of those where it felt like I didn't cover any of the details before the timer ran out
Had a good laugh when I summoned Dave though, probably the highlight of my night!
Victory.jpg
Aw yeah! Victory! I could see a lot more modifiers to cards and even maybe other options. I could see this also hitting a pretty wide audience, like my mom would enjoy playing this on her tablet. The only thing that I wish it did was either not automatically grabbing all my cards up to the Ace piles or letting me drag cards back down from there. Ran into a couple runs where it broke some of my plans by grabbing a card I was going to use in another move before moving up to the top.
I also wish a game didn't auto end but you just racked up points for your stack for when you end a game. Not having the points go down on a reset seems like it would let you feel like you are progressing even when you lose. Could see getting card modifiers that like triple points etc so you put it on Kings for mass points or lower cars for more consistent points per round. Tons of options really! Could definitely see this doing well on mobile.
@doctor-zeus Thank you for such a detailed comment! I really wanted to sneak in the AE86 on the mountain path as a reference but just didn't have time. Speaking of a lot of your observations I agree with but ran out of time on them! Just getting any sound effects in was last minute, I really wish the crunch had better sounds for collision! I wanted to add a sfx for when trash landed in your truck and add in some particle effects to juice it up etc. I think I definitely had some time management issues here as that final layer of polish was added way too late.
I am happy with what we got though! Didn't get much playtesting in to see how the placement of the dumps felt, but I was thinking of adding in a crazy taxi arrow type of thing to point towards the closest one once your truck was full and limit your carry capacity more and make it a tighter loop, but that didn't make the cut either
Sorry for the camera issues, it was another thing I definitely meant to fix with a smarter camera mechanism that uses hitboxes etc and allow for more control of the camera. Will try to prioritize better next time!
I am curious what people get for high scores, I can't imagine getting much over 100 is possible but didn't figure out any optimal routes yet.
@lectvs embrace the trash! I'm so happy with the BGM, we'll need to think about making a jam OST soundtrack someday.
Glad everyone is enjoying the game and its soundtrack! Tiny Viking has a soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/tinygaming82 that it might get uploaded to later, but you can enjoy his other work there for now!
After all the positive comments we have decided to upload the soundtrack on the itch.io page as a WAV!
Thanks again for the reviews! Definitely looking forward to checking out more of your games once I have some more free time!
Really good sokoban! Definitely had a difficulty spike on level 6, but getting past it felt very rewarding! The graphics are very good, I was not expecting that seal interaction and updated sprites!
life.png
Game got really hectic on some days. Some days it was pretty easy. I found a life hack of just not paying rent, electricity or heat and then just paying one tick of food and entertainment which made it a lot easier to go on forever. One thing I wish we got was the required materials showing up before the conveyer starts and then if you need to peek at it later it can work as it does- I'm always terrified a bomb will go off while I peek at what is needed
I noticed a few comments about the similar colors being hard, and while the colors chosen didn't impact me, there are some tones that I can't tell apart so adding unique texture / patterns on each type would have made it more playable to people with varying degrees of color blindness. Tough to do all of that during a jam tho!
I enjoyed the loop and wish there was a like pay off debt type of goal for a "winning" state. I did notice the prices kept going up so I figure eventually my hack of not paying any bills would catch up to me and I wouldn't be able to afford food anymore. Great game overall though, definitely enjoyed it!
I was curious what happens if I ignored all the events going on and just stuck glued to my screen addicted to the first badge game and that was not expected! Fun play on the theme and I like how hectic everything feels as you unlock more. The ending screen was one of the best things I've seen in a long time, great game!
I probably should have waited until info was available, but spent a good chunk of time collecting all six people and all of the clots I could find. I had 10 and six people and tried to do the ultimate form update but it didn't seem do anything when I clicked it, so I then upgraded the gun a few times. I'm assuming I ran into the end of the jam content, but it left me wanting more so that's always a good thing! The atmosphere was top notch and it was very cool to see your teams take on a horror setting!
Hooray fellow garbage truck game! I like the idea of adding a compacting function, that was a good mechanic to mix up the gameplay.
Very challenging platformer! I wish there was a way to drop off the coins and go back to pickup more, maybe getting hit could knock the coins out of you sonic style instead of killing you instantly could add for some interesting moments.
Very solid snake game! Had fun with it looping around and dodging yourself. I think it might be interesting if there was some solid pillars/walls etc that appear as you grow to require you to navigate more, but with the rotation that would get hard to track so not how well it would play out. One idea I had to improve visibility of the next goal is adding in a slight color shift of the two planes that align with the pickup, for the most part I could tell without that when it's behind, but there was some instances where it was near the edge where I'd have to do another loop to actually align with the pickup.
Very relaxing music! Hearing all of the voice clips at the end of each day was fun too. Great audio design! The gameplay took me a couple turns to figure out, but recognizing how the diary indicates mood and weather changes was rewarding and felt like a good flow.
One thing I was confused on was the events every 10 days had number requirements, but when I clicked roll the dice it just went to success. There was one time when some of my stats were lower and some higher but it still went to success. I would have loved to see some sort of actual dice mechanic there and more random events associated with the stats more often would be fun.
I've been playing Umamusume recently and I actually felt like some of that loop being here of picking the best training each day to try to max out your stats for a big event coming up. Umamusume also shows you direct numbers of what your training will impact each day, so I think it can be an interesting choice when you want to focus on stats you know you want or more total stats for the day. I think UI wise a lot of people prefer that to an obscure bars or other indicators. I like in this game it feels like there's impact of what your mood will be the next day too based on the training you do.
My thoughts on the content limits is I think you might have been better off focusing on just one character for a jam game. That way you have a single path with more content. From what I've seen of most people playing jam games they often will not replay multiple endings etc. I typically think about how I can try to concentrate my design to a solid 5 minute experience as that's the typical game jammer audience playtime. It's something that's pushed me away from a lot of procedural generation if it doesn't fit directly into the core aspect of my game during jams now.
Definitely was a fun experience, I could see if it had some more randomization thrown in there easily playing it on my phone as a time to pass some time.
I was enthralled to see all the cats slide in! Cute little game that was balanced just right for a jam entry!
Very unexpected, but I couldn't stop until I collected 21 badges for my collection! Only failed a couple minigames along the way, very well balanced difficulty curve!
Really interesting having to organize everything in your ship! Very fun take on the theme. I do think having smaller example for first level and smaller requirement for the first upgrade would do a lot for explaining the mechanics to new players. Very chill music, I dug it!
Outstanding entry! Really have to applaud the sound design in this game. It all fits together perfectly and the soundtracks really set the mood. The boss might have been a bit of an arrow sponge, but it was a fun encounter! There is a lot of game here for a LD entry!
I'm really impressed! I normally don't play horror games... but the pet sim aspect kept me hooked. Ended up very invested in this, and definitely got some feels at the end. I can't think of much to critique game wise as everything was a smooth experience that propelled the story forward. Well done!
Didn't manage to do well, but it was a fun experience none the less! The overall style and mood of the game came together nicely. A bit more balance and I could see this being a fun little timesink.
Outstanding idea! When I heard pinball and tower defense I thought we would be using the balls to attack stuff, but having a base HP you are trying to keep up with multiple incoming balls seems like an even better spin as it keeps that urgency. There's a lot of mechanics going on here that I like. I do wish there was a bit more feedback- if there was some way to know how damaged the enemy pinballs were for example (I'd probably just make them crack myself, until the explode). What would have been fun would be special "boss" type pinballs too. Also a way to restore health to your base would have been nice too, or maybe a way to power up "protector" shields or something that protected your weak spots.
Interesting to see a choose your own adventure mixed with starcraft. Well done on writing a story that kept me interested the whole time!
This was a lot of fun! Very imaginative concept to combine chess and narrative. We were going to try and do dating sim and doom ourselves and ended up with more a narrative as well. Writing is definitely a huge undertaking that's easy to underestimate in these jams. Writing is only part of the struggle too.. hooking that up to a dialogue system then ends up being a huge pain too! Your entry ended up feeling very polished! With some audio I wouldn't have known it was a jam game while playing it.
interesting concept! I don't think I've played a breakout game where the blocks were scrolling down from the top. The typing mechanics were a neat twist. All of the power ups from typing did make it a bit easy, but it was still fun! The ending was nicely done too.
@lectvs Thanks! I agree about the combat, it was just low on the priorities compared to getting the conversation system in place and working. I get the intuitive part of pressing E on the character... but we didn't think of a better solution. Thinking on it now we could have made it so that hovering over a text choice highlights it and pressing E will just do whichever choice is highlighted. Lessons for next time!
@glorious-kittens Sorry about that! It was only tested on one computer, the PostJam version does have lowered default sensitivity and sensitivity sliders in the options menu =)
@velocity7 Thanks friend!
@paulo-brunassi Glad you enjoyed our entry! I really like what the whole team managed to pull off in 35 hours!
@anthony-krafft Good point on the crouch instructions! I added that in! I love the music, I feel like our musician nailed the doom mood.
@mr-field Oh wow! We are so happy that our game generated enough interest in someone to actually get the good ending! The enemy placement was put in last minute and I agree they are a bit meaty and spammy- definitely something to polish next time around.
@nonimad Thank you so much! It was so much fun working with multiple artists who brought the project to life!
@sebastianscaini This is the response we never knew we wanted. Beautiful :')
@pond-loach Unfortunately there was some issues exporting a web version- I tried but the exported version was unplayable, sorry about that :(
@ratherjolly Thank you very much! I'm surprised at how much actually got done this time around
@sfey Someone else who played it multiple times! This makes me so happy! I always think that multiple endings in LD games are wasted as most people won't take the time to get them. I think it helps that our main game is pretty short once you know what to do though.
@dovakla Thanks! I think making the enemies less meaty might have helped a bit with the combat... next time! The good ending is based on your conversations with the other characters. ~~You need to get the best outcome with each of them where they warn you about the others and not kill anyone~~
@legavroche Thanks a lot! We had multiple people working on the dialogue so it's a miracle it all fit together!
@adhesion Thanks! Good point about "..." as it's used multiple ways in our dialogue, if it's the only choice then it does imply there is more to say, if there are other choices then it's being silent. To get the good ending you have to do the perfect dialogue choices with each of them after returning from below deck (on second round of talking to them) - they will warn you not to trust the others if you selected the right options.
@m-dam Sorry about that, it's not that intuitive, but you need to look at the text choices then press E, not the characters. I noticed that gave a lot of people problems and it's something that we didn't think of a work around for during the Jam as that's how you select different text choices when there is multiple options. Thinking back on it I should have made it so there's a "default" choice and highlighting the text just changes which choice is selected so you can press E on the character or the text.
Some interesting concepts here. Rhythm games are super ambitious for jams, so props for getting the movement to feel good with the beat and having the map react to the beat as well. The game is a bit slow to pick up, but the rules make sense once you get used to them and you definitely get a sense of accomplishment once you start overpowering your opponent. Well done! I also like that not pressing anything doesn't take away your meter, so you can pause and look at the map between watching the beats go by.
Those graphics are adorable! And the destruction effects of the foods is so satisfying. There's a lot of polish here even if it wasn't a jam game! A jam entry of this quality is quite rare, well done!
Took me three times to not die to the Yandere... dang fake mustache! Great game! The music change was super intense and well done. I was not expecting the game to get that intense. Also enjoying getting into a four question back and fourth about preferring cats or dogs, that was quite amusing.
That was pretty amusing! Racing and text adventure are definitely two genres that I would not have thought would mesh well together, but they do. Good job!
I had a lot more fun with this then I expected! The mechanics are simple to learn, but difficult to master and really felt good. I did run into a couple collision issues where I would could get stuck between objects. I kind of wish there was a single player option so you can just try to get "par" on a track.
That was really amusing! Thanks for not making it too difficult to do by yourself controlling both characters! The commentary was pure gold.
Took me a minute to figure out that you could double jump, but the platforming ended up pretty trivial afterwards. Amusing end with the narrator being annoyed about being ignored. Even though the shooting mechanics didn't seem to be used, placing them on Z and X felt pretty awkward when movement is with A and D. Very unique art style though, it was cool to see!
I couldn't Dr. Greg to accept the aloe, but it was a fun game anyways! I've got a soft spot for island survival games, so you have me hooked with the setting alone. The humor was a nice touch with the different characters. Nice job!
I really like GiraffeCat's suggestion of having different tones for each ship, but the game feels really polished already. That would have just been an extra layer of icing on the cake. The concept is well executed, but the wreckage can be a bit difficult to track as it doesn't have a high contrast from the background.
Interesting concept, the race felt a bit short to really make use of the cards, but I can see this working with longer levels. At least, I'm assuming that I was losing when the race reset due to the other player reaching the end? The knockback from taking damage might have been a bit severe for a race scenario, as getting hit was hard to recover from. Overall the mechanics seem to mostly be working for a complicated concept, good job!
The shooting was satisfying when hitting an enemy. Having some more feedback on capture points would have been nice, but it works mechanically and that's what's important for a jam game! The jumping seemed to get a bit wonky on me, but it didn't seem to be integral to the gameplay. Great atmosphere and mood!
Best take on the theme I've seen yet! Loved the voice acting. I actually preferred the mouse and keyboard controls over the controller myself. I did have a hard time clicking on the initial menu buttons- didn't seem to register until I spammed clicking all around the tutorial button for example.
Interesting take on the themes. A bit more feedback for when you hit the correct notes would be great, but other than that it's a pretty solid entry! I kind of think it would make more sense to have the ship and notes on the same axis as it's really hard to concentrate in two directions at once. Maybe even overlayed in the ship gameplay as additional obstacles.
Loved the visual style of the game! Those particles were great. Mechanics are all very solid and difficulty ramp felt good. Overall a very polished game! I think the only thing I found myself wanting is the ability to continue playing a new round by pressing space (probably with a short delay on that being active to prevent accidental skipping) on the results page.
Interesting switch of controls when going to the shop. It was intuitive, but unexpected. Definitely a lot of potential here, farming up monsters that you have to beat is a really fun idea. Mechanics felt pretty solid, but I did have a bit of a hard time aiming where I was planting my crops. Nice job! There's a lot of content here for a LD game :D
Wow, that ended up a lot more stressful than I first imagined, I just barely won reaching the threshold requirement with 4 seconds to go! Great entry!
Interesting concept! The two genres definitely have a satisfying synergy. I liked the western theme, but the weapons felt a bit out of place. Then again, shooting a soccer ball is out of place anyways from our norms. I think a little more impact from some of the bullets would felt a little better, but it was still fun! There's a lot of potential here that could be polished, good job!
That was a silly game, but I get what you were going for. The dating part was pretty amusing, I liked all of the art for the dog during that part. I think a little more feedback on what we need to do to get to the dating stage would have really helped make it more intuitive, a lot of times dating games will have an affection meter visible for example. I noticed the failed text for the play action also seemed to get stuck and not disappear like the other messages, but that's a pretty minor bug. It was neat to play a flash game, it definitely takes me way back to when I used to make them.
Destroying the city is so satisfying! Your take of the theme was quite clever! I really enjoyed the mechanics, although the pacing was a bit slow. Also, not having mouse lock was an issue for me using multiple monitors. Loved the massive attacks, I could actually see this working as a full game where you need to guide the humans evolution based on your attacks... overall this was an excellent entry, well done!
I've seen a few games try to combine these genres and often fail, but this felt pretty fluid even if they RTS aspect was only useful to move your policemen away from danger. If you could setup defensive shooting in a cone in front of the policemen it'd be pretty engaging! There also didn't seem to be an end condition, adding in a survive X spawns would have worked well. Good job on getting the zombies to do some pathing though! I left a policeman up on a roof of a building and was surprised to see a zombie still got him.
I like the concept! It's super satisfying to destroy the other players, and fun to dodge them. It might be fun to try out with more friction on the ball and requiring the ball to be moving a certain velocity to trigger enemy deaths. Right now it was a little easy to juke the enemies into a stationary ball. Good job getting a playable game starting from Sunday though! One of these days I'll try out phaser.... it's been on my list.
There's a lot of potential here! I enjoyed the progression, although it was a bit easy. Managed to catch the guardian of the deep, and figured it was over there since that's what the shopkeep told me to go catch and I can't seem to bet more than 100,000. Very effective artstyle! I really like the casting animation, it sells the motion perfectly. I also got a bit of an undertale vibe from the minigame and just thought about how it would have been fun to have some bullet hell mechanics thrown in there too- and boss fishes that pull back with different bullet patterns... I think that's a good thing that your game was engaging enough to make people want more :)
Very interesting mechanics! I found the North map was challenging to finish if you died after activating the first pattern, as it was really hard for me to replicate it while being charged and the switch was flipped so I couldn't get back to the second lightning bolt anymore, I think resetting the switches on death would have made that area easier to complete, or maybe make the first pattern a bit shorter.
Glad people are enjoying it! I found myself playing it on my phone since it plays surprisingly well off of itch.io - it's making me think I should maybe try building it out more and exporting it to mobile as well.
Agreed on the lack of audio. I had tried to make some music but I was feeling like it would have made the game worse than actually improve it so opted out of audio. I usually get some SFX in, but I ended up busy Saturday so my time was too limited that I ended up cutting a lot of my other ideas and didn't have any bandwidth for sfx.
@helagos That's actually where I got the idea from! I couldn't think of an idea on Friday night and was playing some FFXIV and the idea of the game came to me while getting ready for bed :D
Pleasantly reminded me of outer wilds! Following the signal was pretty intuitive for me and felt good to use those mechanics. I did wish the buttons on the Simon game clicked in when you pressed them, I feel like that might have helped me a bit. I'm very bad at Simon though, but I managed to get through all of them until the very final one, it was just too tough for me and I had to record my video and write down the patterns lol. I think it also goes pretty fast at the final round, my partner also had a hard time following it and she's way better than me at Simon. Personally I think the game might have been a little more effective with maybe one or two fewer puzzles. I did really enjoy the pipe puzzles though! The fallen out pieces were really clever way to spice up that up. The narrative was fun, but I feel like a little bit more between the puzzles might have made it feel more engaging as well.
Love how well the progression through the levels introduces something new and fresh while upping the difficulty naturally! As always, the charm levels are through the roof and the build up of the narrative pays off well throughout.
I tend to have an urge to move paddles quickly to send things flying in these type of games, so I think that might be what was throwing off my controls as the gameplay example you have is smooth and more relying on bouncing and aligning angles, while the act of moving the paddle to hit the bolts made it harder for me to align my shots.
All in all I thoroughly enjoyed playing through this! Another excellent Hayden game!
Really neat take on the theme and puzzle application! I also had the issue of not reading instructions first and didn't figure out how to interact with anything without reloading lol. I think a little sign or something with the interact button near a door might have saved a lot of people from that as the rest was very intuitive! The puzzles weren't too hard but were still fun to progress through!
I loved the aesthetic! The audio was great too! It felt like a fever dream to play, I wasn't entirely sure what was going on, but I was enjoying it. I could only find a couple baddies, but I really liked the getting the phone knocked out of your hand mechanic and having to pick it back up, the audio design there really sold it!
Such a charming platformer! Platforming felt very solid! I really liked how the dash let you squeeze through tight spaces. Definitely a lot of routing options to try to speed through it quickly. Some of the platforming definitely gave me a bit of a challenge, but nothing felt unfair or too rough with the generous checkpoints.
Very satisfying idle game! The popping sound is rather pleasant as your buildings produce, starts to sound like popcorn going off. Having the screen full of buildings definitely feels good.
It's awesome to see some well thought out board games in the jam! The rules make sense and seem to flow well and the art for the game is great! It gives me some of the Forbidden games vibe like Forbidden island. Those are always fun to play and the randomness can lead to some great experiences. Definitely a hard type of game to balance!
At first I thought this was going a cute lemmings game, then I got hit with a crazy twist that rocked my perception of the world. Audio design was perfect and the sprites sold the narrative well.
There was a lot more audio content than I was expecting! The puzzles were interesting, but I agree with others that a lack of a fail state does lower the stakes with just clicking to proceed without figuring out the puzzles. I think it could be made more required if it was a code that was changing over time, and you had to enter in the digits instead of multiple choice for example, that way there wouldn't need to be a fail state, but blindly guessing also wouldn't advance players. All in all a very charming entry! I enjoyed the ending!
Great audio design and implementation of the theme! I had a bit of an issue fine tuning the radio frequency, so I wish there was a way to control with keyboard for turning the knob left / right. Most likely would have been because of my mouse sensitivity and screen resolution though! All in all had fun with it!
The objectives added an interesting mix to thinking about how you want to build out your signal, great design and I liked how it kept getting more and more complex as it went on with more buttons etc. I think you could have streamlined the tutorial by starting off with just a couple options like one switch / button and one dial and slowly add more as you progress.
Gorgeous pixel art! The combat animations had some nice weight to them! I wish I could preview the building descriptions before I bought them. I noticed I could hover over them once they were in the world, but couldn't figure out how to read what I was choosing beforehand. I definitely didn't feel like my servant was in much danger most of the time I was playing, I think it might have been interesting to make them go feed to replenish health, or maybe my passive regen was too high?
This had a lot more narrative than I was expecting! Very interesting use of Conway's game of life to make a puzzle game! Was always such a fun comp sci program to implement during college. The art was great! I wish the first intro also had the "next" button as it seemed to be based on time and I hit the refresh button once and had to wait for it all a second time. All in all I really enjoyed the game though! Very strong atmosphere and take on the theme.
The voice acting and art are great! I agree with others feel like a 4 beat rhythm without starting with an arrow key would have made it a lot more accessible and feel more natural. I also think some tutorial enemies that don't hit back would be good to maybe require you to get a combo before moving forward to practice without getting punished while learning the timing and controls. Huge props for doing a rhythm game for a jam though! I've done those in the past and getting everything working is a giant task! Definitely one of the hardest genres to make in a jam!
I enjoyed the ambiance and audio design in this! I found clicking the activator on the towers a bit tricky until I figured out it was easier when the mouse was unlocked and I could click around to get the activator. Unfortunately, the game ran out of memory on my browser tab right before I was able to get 500 currency to see what happens when you unlock the upload speed. I dug the vibe though!
Very satisfying interface, although at 4K resolution monitor the text and icons were a little tough for me to see playing it on ldjam embedding, it was a lot better on itch.io! The trading was an interesting mechanic that took me a little bit to figure out. Would have loved to have more buildings to upgrade, but that's how these games always go! Was satisfying to make it to space :)
