Another Twine game! This was a very enjoyable experience and the art was nice; I got Ending 2!
@wisedawn Thank you so much for playing! It was a lot of fun to make. :) Any luck with the secret area? A streamer we saw play it managed to get the first one!
Game seems to be not playable, as the text does not always fit on the screen.
Man that was so cool ! Love what you did with the "You have been here before". Got the third ending. Noticed the blue eyes. Aaah that was so cool
The text doesn't fit on the screen, so I couldn't play it. The audio was amazing though!
Some probleme with text too here. But about music and graphics, they are really great. There is a good atmosphere in there. Hope you can fix the probleme soon. This game deserve more, i'm sure about it.
@saathvik @xpycm There should be a full screen option on the bottom right corner. I hope that helps!
@Glaas Thank you so much!! The blue eyes were the artist's idea and the "You have been here before" was all the programmer. If you loop more through it it also says other things (like "you have been here before" and "you don't want to be here again."
I loved the art and music! One broken image but other than that no bugs I found. Nice work!
@redsorel Thank you so much! Does going full screen help the text issue?
@dark-blue-dragon-games Thank you so much. Our artist and composer are crying from all the love! <3 Some images didn't have time to make it in; they'll be put in after the Play + Rate is over!
@mab-cat no, the text issue was present even when I played it in full screen. This was all I could see - You've been walking for as long as you can remember. Your body aches, but you are young. You don’t need to rest yet. Your legs, despite the pain, feel as strong as the tree trunks that melt into the dark as you pass. Wait, how long have you been here? Only the top of the next line can be seen. The game seems very polished, the mood, audio design and graphics are great, and I'm sure the other parts are great as well, but I can't rate it until I play the whole game.
@saathvik @xpycm Thank you for the feedback! I adjusted the display size to 1000x1000. I hope that fixes this issue and you'll be able to play it! If not please let me know so I can keep trying.
I am not a fan of twine, but I must say this game has its own personality. The art is stunning. I don't know if it is only my problem, but when I get to the lake, the image "drink1.png" does not load.
Great entry!
@antonishig Thank you! That is a known issue; that was one of the pieces we didn't have time to put in but will after the Play + Rate is over.
Hey that was really cool, I am always trying to play many Twine entries in the LD jams (because I like stories), but they are hard to find, actually. Loved the dark atmosphere, the moody music and then the story going in circles but revealing more and more. Great. Got the "destroyer" ending. Very good entry! (Edit: got the "keep walking" ending later)
@zondarg Thanks! We really appreciate your kind words. :) If you ever want to go back for the Good ending, there's a hint in the description!
The game was amazing, especially the mood - the music captured that really well - I don't really get why some parts of the game keep looping - I got to the part with the clearing and lemon tree at least a few times
@saathvik Thank you!! I'll pass all these comments along. I will say this: You aren't doing anything wrong; things will change as the runs go along. Take a walk through the woods, hydrate slowly, and respect nature for the good ending!
The graphics and music were really great.
@mab-cat I reached ending 3, probably because I killed the tree.
@saathvik Yes, that's one of the endings!
Such a great game! I like the narration and the music the most. A solid entry! I played two times to get two ending out of it, sadly no secret encouter for me. What is it, if I may ask? I'm kinda curious.
@dane-tesla Thank you so much for playing! As the lead writer I really appreciate the comment on the narration. ^_^ The secret area is a cameo from characters from our YT channel (The Factotum Project). The first instance triggers voice lines and a chance to jump back or ahead. The second can trigger independently or at a higher chance after the first instance when you kill the tree, offering you a chance to save it. I hope that makes sense!
Which endings did you get? I'm curious!
@mab-cat Ooh! Sounds nice for a secret. I'll check your channel!
And I got the "bad" one (destroyer or so when you kill the tree) and the one that reveals the true story (1st ending I suppose? "see the truth")
@dane-tesla Awesome! Thank you so much!! You're the first person to get the good ending that I've seen! I hope the story was clear and made sense, considering the true end!
The atmosphere is fantastic, and I loved the little things like switching between light/dark backgrounds. I felt like the sheer amount of text was a bit much given that many of the pages only had one choice to progress, but I think that may just be because I was streaming and reading it aloud at the time :) Cool entry overall!
Well, that was unexpected, but very fun! :).
@lectvs @eugenik Thank you both!
This was really atmospheric and awesome! One thing I felt was that the text slow crawl should be a bit faster if you're revisiting a place and nothing has changed, though I do understand if that's part of the atmosphere. It just made misclicks a bit more punishing. Overall I REALLY liked the mood, the art, and the writing as well as that excellent choice in music that really heightened the atmosphere. Can't wait to see the image fixed version~
@squidly Thank you so much for the feedback! I really appreciate you playing it. I had a lot of fun on your stream as well!
This really was a great text-based experience! I'm really impressed you even added two secret ending. Very very good.
I have to agree with @squidly with the *text slow crawl should be a bit faster*. overall reallt really good. :)
@stroe-andrew Thank you so much! We really appreciate the feedback! :)
THIS GAME IS AMAZING! I love the graphics, the love the story, the whole concept is so unique!
@illabom Thank you so much!! We really appreciate it. <3 Y'all have blown us away with the love! Did you find all the endings?
I have never played a game like this before. It started a little bit slow but once i got items i was intrigued. Very nice submission!
@blue-pin-studio Thanks so much for your feedback!
Fantastic game! Love the recursive nature of the story progression. Like some of the others, I also encountered issues with graphics not loading at several points--I'll try to remember to come back after play 'n' rate, since the art that *did* load was fantastic.
I've said this on several games' pages now, but I wish LD had a proper Story category so I could give credit where it's due.
I got Ending 2/3. What a mood ... once I realized that there were changes each time you went through the loop, the game was a lot more enjoyable.
I did feel that the logic of the story was missing though. Maybe I just clicked all the wrong choices, but it was never clear to me why the lake is silver on some playthroughs and black on others. Or why sometimes when you look at the tree it's fine, but later it's burning. Or why in earlier playthroughs you don't find your dad's box. Also I never used the peanut. The confusion made me feel that I wasn't solving any puzzles or understanding what I was doing or why things happened, but just selecting random choices until I reached an end, which is perhaps why it's fitting that I got Ending 2/3.
Went through and got all the endings with some help from @mab-cat. What a beautiful little gem! The art, music, and writing all combine incredibly well to produce a wonderful atmosphere and gem. Things could be a little clearer as others have mentioned. Here's the timestamped link to playing it on stream: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1004493783?t=0h15m33s
