LD46 — Keep it alive

Più, a bird song by Ekilibr 2020-04-22T14:52:51Z

Ahh, fantastic job, all! Really love how you dug into the music notation aesthetic. Can I ask how you all implemented the dynamic audio? For speed's sake, our team used the native functions in Unity, but that did lead to some unintended wonkiness

The Glimmering Woods by Kyrio 2020-04-24T15:00:03Z

Nice work! The art gave me serious Deltarune/Undertale vibes, and the music was real pleasant to listen to~

From a narrative perspective, I really like the personalities of the town inhabitants——but I felt like many of them could say the same thing in fewer words for a stronger effect.

HAL 2020 by OveRMolo 2020-04-23T21:43:29Z

Nice atmosphere! I might be cool if there were options for the player to engage in dialogue with HAL, to further explore the ethical dilemma.

For Seraphina by Herrybiscuit 2020-04-24T15:53:54Z

What a sweet little game. I really enjoyed (maybe that's not the right word, but...) the mood you had going on here.

Possibly useful info: On Mac, it was hard to line my cursor up with each item you needed to interact with. It seemed the detection box was always to to the Southwest of the actual item. Not sure what the issue would be there!

Heart Break by gnx 2020-04-23T20:07:07Z

Took me a second to get what was going on (I definitely should have read the instructions—but the red flash every time you press the heart made me think I was doing something wrong!), but this was a fun game! The simplicity is pretty elegant now that I know how you're supposed to play. Bravo!

Cells by Gaming Night 2020-04-23T19:53:32Z

I admit, it was a bit difficult for me to understand the big picture of what the player is doing, but the visuals, sound design, and feedback all worked together quite well.

Until it blooms by Eryph 2020-04-21T14:24:00Z

The systems were so effective here! Time management games are always stressful for me, and this one was no exception--but it's well put together. The interplay of space (needing to cross paths often) and time (the fertilizer requiring two "waiting" periods and a long traversal vs. a single period for the others) worked well in tandem. Awesome job!

Ballad of the Bard by Filip Bergkvist 2020-04-23T20:47:47Z

Unfortunately the game totally stopped when I got to the Wizard :( but I enjoyed what I managed to play til then (and I definitely plan on giving it another try soon!) The art and the atmosphere is definitely great, and I love the simplicity. The level design was very readable. I'll definitely be on the lookout for your full game~

Ballad of the Bard by Filip Bergkvist 2020-04-23T21:03:30Z

@filip-bergkvist Sure, I played the Web version in Firefox. The Wizard appeared, said a line, then just stood there. The game didn't freeze per se—I'm pretty sure the fire's animation and sound was still going, but nothing was happening. The fire didn't diminish, either.

LD46 - Carry This Torch Through by tso 2020-04-28T15:22:04Z

Hey hey, finally got around to playing this after seeing it on @walkalope's stream! Love love love the simplicity and aesthetic direction here. Like others, I wasn't really sure where I was supposed to go—but I would totally play a game like this even if it were just aimless exploration.

Vine and Void by JUSTCAMH 2020-04-25T13:59:47Z

A W W W This was so, so good! Like others, I thought the vine mechanic was really cool. The coolest part of it for me was how you could also make the vines go in reverse!

Like @mhykah, I was stuck at first when I got the megaseed. I misunderstood a cloud and assumed *only* the megavine could interact with the rain clouds. Eventually I got it though! Thoroughly enjoyed this :)

PLATEAU MELODY by Hydezeke 2020-04-21T18:16:10Z

@marco-marchitelli I was hoping at least ONE person would make it to the end to get those feels <3

PLATEAU MELODY by Hydezeke 2020-04-22T11:37:13Z

@eric-lagergren, thank you for playing! @hydezeke noticed early on that it was fun to just chill out and play random tunes, so we really tried to lean into that

PLATEAU MELODY by Hydezeke 2020-04-22T15:16:45Z

@daltonleavey Thanks for playing! There's a special surprise at the end——so if you want to get it...try helping the critters, finding the three instruments (Sitar, Bells, and Bass), then search the skies for the Final Challenge

Volty's Quest by Casey Macneil 2020-04-22T15:16:02Z

Ahhhhh this was so satisfying to play! The sfx for charging and recharging were particularly nice, in addition to the music. Really tight overall!

Living Light by zubspace 2020-04-23T22:03:25Z

Nice job! I liked that each of the enemy types had a readable personality

Keep the blob alive ! by NewinGames 2020-04-22T13:29:51Z

Oh wow, I've only tried like 7 or so games thus far, but this one is easily the most innovative. Very nice work!

The Ultimate Chicken Toaster by LeBossMax2 2020-04-23T20:02:51Z

Neat game, and challenging, too! Some of the audio was kind of harsh/overpowering—it might be worth spending more time on the mix (assuming you had any time left over at all!) Congrats on finishing this Compo-style!

The Cause by enderr42 2020-04-28T15:19:05Z

Finally got around to playing this after watching @walkalope's stream—this was really impressive and well done. I don't even generally like card games, but the world was interesting enough for me to thoroughly enjoy it.

Lost Souls by Raineii 2020-04-21T19:14:54Z

Nice spooky vibes! There was some real tasty sound design in here, too~

Eggbert II by senar93 2020-04-22T13:18:58Z

Marco Marchitelli, fantastic, clean graphics work!

Until Darkness by Katrin 2020-04-23T13:39:56Z

You should be so proud for creating this yourself and completing LDJam!

LD46 by Zivfo 2020-04-23T21:16:46Z

I had the same initial playthrough as Yscik, but after I figured out how to play, this was really fun (and heartbreaking!). You might try labeling the prescription reference list so it's more clear that it's not the list of orders you have, or not letting the player send medicine to no one, or some combination of things. Otherwise, this was really cool!

Graceful Planet by 3ago_ 2020-04-21T17:54:50Z

Took me a few tries to get the hang of it, but what a cool twist on a bullet-hell game! And the planet was so cute the way it moved! I'm glad they're having fun while I'm SAVING THEIR BUTT FROM DESTRUCTION haha

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Yerlik by gord10ahmet 2021-04-28T20:29:55Z

This was really cool! I like how the instructions in every level hint that something more is going on here without giving everything away--I think it showed real depth here. Congrats on finishing your game, I'm glad to have played it!

Unpaid Serenade for Future Solution Group [2026 eCon Grief/Heartbreak Singalong] by Sand-Gardeners 2021-04-27T23:22:26Z

Wow, this is so well-done! We tried to avoid scripted sequences/camera movements for our own game because it can be so time consuming to get it just right--but you nailed this. I wish there were a writing category--I loved reading this work! The host sounded exactly like conferences I've been to before, the player character's inner dialogue is raw and real, and the ending segment was beautiful. I'm really glad I played this!

The Chasm by Re-Markable 2021-04-28T20:10:14Z

The puzzles here were quite cool and I like how you slowly introduced the concepts and built on them. First puzzle game I've played here that works so well!

We Have to Go Deeper! by Scott Steffes 2021-04-27T14:17:39Z

Ahhhhhhh this was so good! Love the implementation of the dialogue. The dynamic between the two characters is really fun. And of course, the visual and spatial design of the level is excellent. Fantastic job, y'all!

Little Lost Sheep by Hydezeke 2021-04-28T13:41:33Z

@icarusdev @tetrapteryx @joselor @c3ll256 @bunner That really means a lot to hear that the game touched you in some way :') I was honestly a little worried that people wouldn't like the story enough to want to keep playing

Thanks everyone for your lovely comments and thanks for playing our lil' game!

Diary of Sedah by azagaya 2021-04-28T13:29:08Z

Fantastic setting and aesthetic! The music is great. I love that each level gives you some new mechanic that also contributes to the story. Love it when games can pull that off!

My Dentures! by Luc-creationallabs 2021-04-28T21:54:58Z

Great job with this one--the gameplay loop has a very elegant simplicity. It works quite well and I could imagine an entire full game based on this concept. Congratulations on a job VERY well done!

Stock: A Tale from The Pages by MAB_Cat 2021-05-01T14:30:38Z

Fantastic game! Love the recursive nature of the story progression. Like some of the others, I also encountered issues with graphics not loading at several points--I'll try to remember to come back after play 'n' rate, since the art that *did* load was fantastic.

I've said this on several games' pages now, but I wish LD had a proper Story category so I could give credit where it's due.

Graphite Journey by pnkvrt 2021-04-27T13:06:09Z

Love love LOVE the world you crafted--the actual art, the papercrafted medium, and the neat story hook with the writing in the sand. Was really looking forward to learning more about the world, so sad you all ran out of time (I think me and 2000+ other people feel your pain x_x)

Guy Fall by IcarusDev 2021-04-27T23:26:21Z

Hey, congrats on your first LDJam! I liked the slight drag to the player character's movement, as if I could gently guide them but ultimately I'm not totally in control. I think that's a great choice for a game where you're falling endlessly like this

Gulp! by GoodGamesJames 2021-04-28T20:38:41Z

omg. This is extremely disturbing and extremely cool. I didn't read the description before I started playing so my reaction was like:

1. Oh cool art 2. Wait what's that above his head? 3. Is that a razor? 4. WHAT IS HIS HEAD DOING 5. NONONONONONONONONOONONO 6. Oh this is really fun though

Thanks for this neat experience!

Stretch B4U Race by duplicatedframe 2021-05-01T14:46:26Z

Ohhh I just so love the voxel visual style and the isometric view point! The level design was really neat too. I didn't have a controller handy when I played--it would have been nice to see the control scheme for keyboard + mouse. (Took me a bit to figure out how to rotate the camera).

This was really cute and fun!

Spectregram by blob 2021-04-29T14:36:54Z

This was really cool, I need more photography games in my life!! I liked the mysterious aspect to the introduction level--not quite being sure what you're being asked to do, or what this facility is for, the alien language, etc.
