LD46 — Keep it alive

The Great Return by Attala 2020-04-29T16:25:46Z

I played another game with a very similar setting and somewhat similar gamemplay: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/46/the-path But yours controls much better. I think hearding mechanics like this are inherently frustrating, but I think you pulled it off as well as I've ever seen it done. The fact the chicken stays put when you're not hearding it and the fact that you can speed the chicken up in a pinch make it a lot better to control. Maybe a few other options like throwing feed (a limited resource) which makes the chicken run to a specific location or something like that would be good. Well done!

Empty by ZozeR 2020-04-24T05:52:01Z

I really wanted to see what this game would be like given the name. Simpin' ain't easy after all.

Zoo keeper by Team-on 2020-04-21T01:14:14Z

This was really delightful. I also think it's the perfect kind of game for a game jam. I understood the mechanics quickly and had a little piece of genuine fun. The art is also super cute.

The Keep! It's Alive! by minibobbo 2020-04-26T15:18:43Z

The animations are all great! It's also nice that, like you say, the controls are quite intuitive.

Confluence by Dandala88 2020-04-24T06:32:22Z

Didn't work in Chrome Incognito mode, Microsoft Edge to the rescue! (never thought I'd say that) I liked how you could only aim in the 4 cardinal directions. It made it much easier to control than the usual Asteroids style controls. The game works in that the computer's health pretty much becomes a timer for completing the power supply sections. But it felt weird to just leave the computer for long periods of time just letting it get hammered by enemies. It would be nice if there was something you could do to protect the computer while you're away from it.

Late Medieval Network Engineer by MisterKeefe 2020-04-24T06:39:24Z

This is actually really neat. Looking at it I figured it was going to be one of those jam games where the rules are way to complex and unintuitive to grasp quickly (I've made such a game) But it was actually pretty easy to get a sense for how it works. The traveling mechanic was really interesting. Did you come up with that entirely or is it based on an existing game? The main network screen is a bit lackluster, for a second I was thinking that was the whole game. A little UI brushup would go a long way I think.

YMGYPBVF: You Must Gather Your Party Before Venturing Forth by amkingTRP 2020-04-21T08:14:52Z

I love the logic behind this game! It feels amazing to figure out the right order to move your pieces in. Great job on the game design, and I know it can't have been easy to make it all in time. Congrats!

For Ducks' Sake by GaryS 2020-04-29T16:55:33Z

The art and audio are super cute! I read your message about 360 vs 8-way aiming. That's a tough one. Certainly the game would be too easy if you just add 360 aiming, but the 8-way limitation doesn't seem to be a fun kind of difficulty. I think you would need to find some additional mechanic to add difficulty to the game unrelated to the aiming. Like having different bullet types to switch between for different enemies.

Feed me! by Liam 2020-04-24T06:42:27Z

Ha! There have been a lot of these pet raising simulator style games this time around, but the setting for this one was really funny. Would have liked ASDW to work as well as the arrow keys.

Final Flower: Petals of a Lost Age by Scott Steffes 2020-04-26T07:35:30Z

@epicular Thank you for the detailed feedback!

We definitely could have put more time into tweaking the platforming. (actually we really didn't have any time, but you get the idea) We kind of got it feeling "good enough" and then moved on to the rest of the mechanics. I think the wall jumping was the worst part. Instead of having you stick to walls, it probably would have been better if you slid past the wall normally and had the option to kick off the wall only if you wanted to.

We spent a lot of time fiddling with what did and didn't break the capsule/collide with the capsule. I think what we settled on made the most gameplay sense even though it was rather unintuitive.

Final Flower: Petals of a Lost Age by Scott Steffes 2020-05-01T02:47:10Z

@vesper Thank you for all the detailed feedback! I'm curious how exactly you are managing the capsule. It sounds like you're embedding it in walls as a core part of your strategy. The intent is that you can never set down the capsule and that you have to always fling it in the air. The capsule is supposed to break if it even lightly touches the ground from above. If you release the capsule within a wall, then a number of factors could control whether it breaks, but we did not anticipate that playstyle when designing the game.

Breaking Egg by Mulberg 2020-04-24T07:06:31Z

I will admit I found figuring out how fast I could go without damaging the egg was rather frustrating. I'm guessing I would develop a sense for it over time, but I wish there was some way to develop that sense more quickly. Like whatever calculation you're doing behind the scenes to determine how hard you're hitting, if you could display that in a piece of UI that would be interesting. Neat little idea for a jam though. I liked the music.

Memes Never Die by James_7777 2020-04-26T12:46:05Z

Very relatable game. I wish I had the courage to post my memes around town like that. All the animations/sounds were great, making it satisfying to play. For those of us who aren't especially artistically talented it would be nice if you had some hand-crafted memes you made yourself that you could choose to use instead.

Fire my guitar up by Alexey Kuzovkov 2020-04-24T07:45:23Z

I too was looking forward to guitar music. But it was still fun without it.

Medically Inaccurate by Emperor Eagle 2020-04-22T07:07:01Z

Shooting the syringes felt great. Seeing them stick into enemies and push them back was awesome. Balancing the heart health and your own health was also interesting. Great little combination of mechanics and gamefeel.

Verbose by santriptasharma 2020-04-24T06:56:19Z

Easily the most creative take on the theme I've seen. Unfortunately it's quite a lot to take in. It probably would have been good to focus on a simpler set of systems and polish them. (I should know, I've made several indecipherable jam games)

Verbose by santriptasharma 2020-04-24T10:10:49Z

@santriptasharma Trying to figure out how each part of the game feeds into the strategy. Though reading that it's unbalanced, it makes it less engaging to try to figure out. Having most of the game be in the "strategy" tab was also kind of confusing. Considering declaring war is the main thing you do in the game you would imagine it would be the central button on the title screen but instead it's in a side tab to the right. At first I figured the strategy tab was just a "how to" page and the actual game controls were somewhere else. I guess playing it again I'm starting to understand how it all works, but at least initially all the systems are daunting making it tempting to just not figure it out and move on to another game.

Oak Defenders by Hugimugi7 2020-04-29T16:50:10Z

A nice little tower defence game! Great job limiting the number of art assets you needed so you could focus on quality (though there are still quite a few assets, well done!)

Manual Breathing by legavroche 2020-04-21T04:10:44Z

Wow, I never thought about how bad I am at multitasking until I had to platform and breathe at the same time. Cool concept!

Soulectron by Bredian 2020-04-29T17:00:05Z

The art was really cute and the music fit the mood. I found it a bit confusing that the red things that block/damage you were the same color as the syringes that heal you.

Dreadful Sanity - A Ludum Dare Game Jam Game by misterG420 2020-04-22T07:13:19Z

The art really created the proper mood for the game. Dirty pixel. art :P

Hope by Darylsteak 2020-04-22T11:57:04Z

Wow, I'm really impressed you were able to come up with all of these puzzles so quickly. I know when you get good at art or programming you can really crank out impressive programs and art, but it's rare to find people who can do really good game design under pressure. Hats off to you! We went with a more established game design, tweaked it a bit, and focussed on polish. I look forward to seeing more of your games in the future!

The Empty Cone by Acr515 2020-04-25T04:07:17Z

You mention that that all the other controls are explained within the game, but somehow I missed them. I didn't figure out that you could press Q to pull up your weapon (or that you even had a weapon) until the 2nd playthrough which made the first playthrough incredibly frustrating. The upgrade menu was rather hard to understand. I couldn't tell if something I was clicking wasn't working because I didn't have enough money or because it wasn't clickable or what. It seems like listing the controls in the description would be a good idea, especially for a jam game. Maybe the controls show up on the screen, but I missed them both times I played through the game. Though maybe the whole point is to surprise people? I was certainly surprised when the monsters came in. I guess you have to balance the surprise with the chance that people will ragequit. Once I figured everything out the game was fun and had a good amount of depth, so good scores all around, but if there was a rating for intuitiveness I'd have to dock you. Very impressive amount of content for a jam game!

Spirit cave by smiley 2020-04-26T12:50:28Z

Really cool, reminds me of Noita. Making sure each level is beatable must have been interesting/difficult.

Kaoamaru Kaiju by SplitPainter 2020-04-26T13:09:30Z

Makes me think of the original N64 Evangelion game.

Bullets & Babies by David Bohan 2020-04-22T07:01:42Z

Excellent combination of mechanics to make for a challenging but fun experience. I liked how the music changes when you're getting low on milk. Well done!

Keep Him Alive by Convg 2020-04-26T12:23:29Z

The attacking animation felt really good, if you found a sound effect just for that that would be great. I didn't quite understand why the big circles with "5" on them teleport you to slightly different version of the same level. Is it all procedural? I'm not sure exactly how you are supposed to beat the game.

Virus Simulator by Sli 2020-04-26T13:12:33Z

This is a tough one, just like the real situation. This could probably be useful for showing people the difficulties governments face trying to deal with this situation.

Creature Coraller by brzyrt 2020-04-22T06:24:02Z

The enemies were so funny. I love their expressions. Having to stop moving to shoot felt like a bit of a drag, but I guess it adds some challenge. I actually really liked how you had to reload one bullet at a time. It just felt good with the sound. The enemies should probably come in a bit sooner, I spent the first few seconds trying to shoot the guy I was supposed to protect.

Lich Clicker by Fictions 2020-04-21T13:46:40Z

Really good looking game. The sprite animations were really impressive. The WebGL build is set too big for the itch.io window. I had to scroll the window horizontally to get to the fullscreen button. In Player Settings you probably want to set the canvas to something like 960x540 so it displays nicely in the itch.io page and then people can click on the fullscreen button.

Blood On The Snow by Wolfrug 2020-04-30T08:25:08Z

Very cool game with an impressive amount of content. When the first battle started, I was clicking the battle UI a bunch and didn't realize I had to advance the dialogue before I could interact with the UI. It seems like the UI should be faded out or something until you can use it, or give you a message "read the dialogue!" if you click on it before finishing the dialogue. I was surprised that it allowed you to confirm move orders before you execute them, but if you clicked attack, it just ran the attack and spent your AP without a confirmation even when you weren't in range of anything. Maybe it could detect if your attack probably isn't going to hit anything and warn you before executing the command. There seems to be some sort of bug where if you use right click to face an enemy you somehow enter move mode and are forced to move again when your intention was to turn and then attack. In general though really impressive!

A 90s Game! by John Snyder 2020-04-29T12:53:28Z

The pixel art was really cute! I found the collider on the tree kind of confusing. To get to where the lumberjacks go to you have to go behind the tree. I'm not sure why the lumberjacks seem to appear out of nowhere. It seems like they could just come from off the edge of the level. I think it would be better if you couldn't just stay behind the tree and instantly kill the lumberjacks.

Cable Guy by sorko 2020-04-26T12:40:56Z

Excellent addition to regular platforming mechanics. It was really funny seeing all that cable get wasted. Sometimes I forgot to press F and screwed up my server chain. Maybe being able to shoot cable to places you can't get to would be fun.

OwOrbit by AudreyC 2020-04-21T01:18:18Z

I love how you took a simple concept and executed it beautifully with lots of polish on the visual side of things! Great mood to the game.

Keep The Bouncy Thing Alive by mypalmike 2020-04-21T07:22:55Z

Blue ball machine comes to life! I like the simplicity of it. Wait, now that I read the comments I see that those gray balls were... OTHER PEOPLE??? WOW, that's amazing! Review updated!!! Turns out I should have read the description hahaha

Bogged Out by yarpoplar 2020-04-29T17:29:37Z

Very impressive amount of content. And very tasteful 3D art which is hard to pull off in a short time. Balancing getting gems and healing your golem was interesting. I'm not sure being able to die by falling into the water is an interesting mechanic.

Cardboard Frank by Beardmage 2020-04-23T04:35:20Z

The music is excellent and totally matches the situation in the game. The 3D graphics were really tasteful which is hard to pull off in a game jam. Flying around actually felt pretty good. I felt like I could control my movement pretty well. I didn't exactly understand how the ammo system worked. Do you just have a set amount? I was hoping charging up your attack would make it look different somehow. That would make you feel a lot more powerful I think.

Party Animal by puntocom 2020-04-29T17:11:00Z

An accurate simulation of a college house party, with cute animals! Well done!

Good Boy Wanwan by PecheDodue 2020-04-21T13:00:27Z

The mix of 2D and 3D was cool. Having little story parts between the gameplay made me want to keep playing to get the rest of the story. The core gameplay was a bit monotonous. Lots of time spent just walking through the city. The physics on granny were neat.

Feed The Fire by Nuanda79 2020-04-24T07:13:59Z

Lots of cool little things in this game. I like how the items only appear/change when you aren't looking at them with the flashlight (at least that seemed to be how it worked). I thought it was funny that you could burn guitars and books. The fact that what was in the colored containers was randomized at the beginning didn't seem that interesting to me, mostly just annoying. Mashing space to charge the flashlight felt good because of the sound. Well done!

Feed Me! by caeonosphere 2020-04-22T10:39:22Z

Hey! I started following you when you made STEREOtype. Glad to see you're still making games! The look of the game is perfect for a game jam. Pulling off tasteful 3D is hard in a game jam, but you pull it off. I admit I found controlling the little guy sort of frustrating. If you could give the player just a bit more control, I think it would be more fun. Maybe the ability to stop it from moving for a bit longer that you currently can. I may be missing some of the mechanics. It is fun getting him to jump to you. It might be good to include a way to immediately restart a level when you die, waiting for the animation was a bit annoying after the 10th time :P Keep it up! Check out my game if you have the chance!

My Mother is a Caravan? by Gideonnf 2020-04-26T15:04:48Z

I look forward to the anime adaptation of this coming out next season.

Firekeeper by Minrato2 2020-04-26T13:25:48Z

The additional badges are a cool idea! Not being able to tell exactly what each badge does made it a bit confusing though.

Egg's Eggsoddus by Nothingness 2020-04-21T03:01:32Z

What an odyssey!!! It went much farther than I expected, and I loved rolling around and exploring. The heal chamber was a delightful surprise :)

Me: Tree! by Groggi 2020-04-24T07:28:08Z

This was really cute and relaxing. Some calming music would be nice. It felt really good how in the beginning you're really struggling, but eventually you gain a foothold and things start going better. Having to warp the tree to get as much sun as possible and reaching down to find water pockets was also is neat.

Me: Tree! by Groggi 2020-04-24T07:29:23Z

I'm guessing you wanted to do more with the game than what you were able to do, but I think you should be more positive about how it turned out. It's actually a really nice idle game. You should do what you can to get it in front of more people!

Faire L'Amour aux Plantes by Jenny Bourke 2020-04-29T17:16:22Z

OMG so many kisses! The hand-drawn looking art style really set the mood.

Overwatch by rkhadder 2020-04-24T06:52:03Z

It was a pretty difficult game, but nothing about it was frustrating. Changing cameras and pathfinding the guy through the level all worked exactly as you would expect. Well done!

Bonsai by Literal Games 2020-04-21T13:22:57Z

It took me quite a while to figure out how the various mechanics worked. Some infographics showing you how to do various things might be helpful. The movement using the mouse instead of the arrow keys was hard to get used to. Really cute concept that matches the theme well.

A Single Flame by KaGG 2020-04-21T01:46:31Z

Well, you could have said in the description that nothing is implemented. I kept clicking trying to make something happen, then... Yeah.

GNAT#46 by arowx 2020-04-29T13:46:06Z

I like how the bullets bounce off the other planets. I think the shooting could have felt more impactful. Some sort of shake/sound/particle effects when you hit would be nice. The bullets could probably travel faster.

LIFE:anti-viral by whydoidoit 2020-04-24T07:54:39Z

Some very literal cellular automata. Those viruses are brutal! I'm not sure what I did, but it feels like I hurt somebody/something. So that was an experience. And new experiences are what jam games are all about!

Beacon in the Dark by BilalCh213 2020-04-21T02:58:09Z

I loved this! Management games are my jam, and this one delivered. It wasn't always clear whether power was flowing or whether my towers were doing their laser thing, but overall I had a great time.

Mr. Fluff by Nazorus 2020-04-22T17:08:28Z

The core system was really creative, using the width, color, and... something to indicate the various needs. I didn't actually figure out what the hand was about. It's also awesome to have an analogue soundtrack, not something you see in a lot of jam games.

Cats In Flats by Black Flag 2020-04-29T13:52:28Z

The different cat models were all hilarious! I liked being able to shoot as fast as I could click. There seems to be a resolution/aspect ratio mismatch between the game itself and the unity web player window. Probably a mismatch between the WebGL Player Settings and the itch.io settings. I'm not sure giving the player health in addition to the goldfish health was necessary or interesting. It would be nice to know how much health each cat has so you know how many times you need to hit them. Moving the furniture around was an interesting mechanic.

Don´t forget me by Joaquinm 2020-04-21T13:39:00Z

The controls we quite confusing to me. I couldn't tell which option was highlighted on the start menu and accidentally quit the game the first time. When there's text playing and I click, I expected it to jump to the end of the text and instead it closed the text box so I missed the second half of the text. Various quality of life improvements would make this game much better. I had a hard time concentrating on the story as I kept fighting with the controls.

Terminal Charge by Gal Afik 2020-04-22T15:52:15Z

This was actually a really accurate simulation of what it's like to catch a flight, which would be fun in real life if it weren't so stressful. So this lets you have the fun without the stress. The phone dying added an additional layer and some comedy. It took me a few plays to figure out how to read everything. Maybe making your flight number more prominent would be good. It felt a bit random whether or not your flight would be reachable in time (just like in real life!) I'm not sure if you could do something to ensure that the combination of terminal changes never produced a route that was too long to walk in time. よくできたね!

Precious Animals by despdair 2020-04-26T13:00:51Z

Seemed a bit difficult at the beginning for a hyper casual game. I wish I had more control, maybe a limited resource I could use at the last second to protect the animals if I missed a bullet. Cute art!

Keep the Keep by firellon 2020-04-26T12:35:35Z

I usually try to avoid making games with too much deep strategy in game jams (people never read the instructions :P ), but you did a really nice job introducing the game's concepts in the tutorial. That's impressive. The art style is also really tasteful. This game has a lot of potential to be made into a full game that you could sell.

Keep Pit Alive! by BunnyDen 2020-04-22T06:58:58Z

I liked the hand drawn style of the horse. It's a nice change from all this digital art. Unless it was completely digital, in which case, it still looks good and stands out from the crowd :P

Jack's Star Destroyer by TheAxe316 2020-04-21T03:42:43Z

I liked it a lot! I'm awful with WASD rotation controls -- maybe it'd be fun to try mouse-based control! I love the powerups that rotated around Earth.

Purple Thing! by 3LSTMsInATrenchcoat 2020-04-21T03:10:38Z

Hah! I love that, the level design bit made the whole game hit different.

StarShip Hamster by Maytch 2020-04-22T07:50:39Z

It would have been nice if the shooting had more umph to it. It was almost hard to tell if you were shooting at all. The area pushback attack was good. The hamster was adorable. The help text probably should be bigger or have an outline so you can read it easier.

Keep It Alive by minnka 2020-04-26T13:35:53Z

Quite the experience. This belongs in a post-modern art museum.

Airplane Mode by caps_unlocked 2020-04-21T03:05:41Z

Couldn't play! As soon as I loaded in, my view shot straight up and I couldn't get it to stay down.

moss by niceden 2020-04-21T04:09:49Z

Wow, it's like Dear Esther meets Ape Out. I love the art!!!

Planet with a Cat by Bonyok77 2020-04-22T06:38:06Z

The graphics were really cute! It took me a while to figure out how the mechanic worked. I wasn't sure what the health bar actually meant. What I figured was that the trees block the meteors and that if the planet got hit directly, it's health would go down and not go back up. I didn't realize adding trees healed the planet. Once I figured it out it was a lot of fun!

Più, a bird song by Ekilibr 2020-04-26T12:16:21Z

The flying controls felt very nice, and the artstyle was really tasteful. Having more of an indication of how much longer the songbirds can survive would probable improve the gameplay. Not being able to see the layout of the map made it hard to predict where you could safely go without running out of gems.

My BFF! Glorpol! by xel 2020-04-24T07:34:38Z

Holy crap, this is freakin' hilarious! The art and animations are also really good. You should like, make games for real, unless you already are. Are you?

My BFF! Glorpol! by xel 2020-04-25T04:09:29Z

@xel Do you post your work anywhere?

Shapes by Finn_Tr 2020-04-26T12:30:27Z

The jumping/warping felt really good. Aiming was kind of hard. I would have liked some sort of visual indicator of my health. It took me a while to figure out what exactly makes you die. A health bar would probably ruin the minimalist aesthetic, but I'm guessing there's some sort of graphic you could add that would indicate your health situation without looking too much like UI.

AMT: Alien Medical Technician by No Grapes Games 2020-04-24T06:23:51Z

Holy crap, this is so cool! The art is really good. Like actually good, like not even cringey like a lot of manga style stuff tends to be. The gameplay is pretty standard for a rhythm game, but that's pretty cool. I know I've had trouble getting audio to sync properly when making rhythm games. The audio synthesis is a neat touch. Actually modulating the audio live instead of just turning a file on and off is really cool. Maybe it would be good to be able to click a button to hear how it's supposed to sound before you play it would be good. There was one song where I couldn't imagine what it was supposed to sound like so I had a hard time timing it just from the visuals.

AMT: Alien Medical Technician by No Grapes Games 2020-04-24T06:26:01Z

Oh, you made Meter Maid DX. The cuteness continues!

A Dangerous Errand by PapyKent 2020-04-21T13:18:32Z

I love the concept and the unique art style. The absurdity of all the people standing in the street expelling sickness particles was great. The bullet pattern variation was also cool. The gameplay was pretty standard.

Stay Alive by Hruy Gashaw 2020-04-21T01:31:50Z

I made it through every level by just running like heck. I wish there were more timing-based elements, so I couldn't just blast through it! I love the CRT-style blown-out graphics. Very cool!

Keep Them Alive by kaeveris 2020-04-29T13:40:51Z

I liked how the controls were more physics based so you could get creative with how you solve the levels. In other games I've seen like this, the movement is really tightly controlled so it feels like more of a puzzle game. I like your way better. The sound when you get the blobs together was really intense and funny.

The Birb by Ilimanic 2020-04-22T07:54:17Z

This art style is great! Everything feels cohesive. Much better than trying to go for a more complicated style and not quite nailing it.

Save the torch! by eduardogacn 2020-04-29T17:07:01Z

The art is really well done. I think just fixing up a few things with the platforming system could make it feel a lot better. The biggest thing I struggled with was not jumping when running off the edge of platforms. Our game got criticized for this a lot and I see now that it's worth fixing. If you make it so if the user presses jump within 0.2 seconds of leaving the platform it still lets them jump it makes the platforming feel much better. I think the overall concept of the game is fine. It could just use some general tightening up platforming wise.

Decay by Andrew Roulst 2020-04-21T01:38:49Z

Maybe I'm dumb, but I had a lot of trouble figuring out what was what. The light emitter looks like a flower, and how do I know how well I'm doing? I had some levels with only 1 flower to place and 2 mirrors, an no way to know if I was doing it right. I'd like to see a bit more tutorial.

Baby, please don't break my hearts by Stadoblech 2020-04-29T13:59:20Z

Having to consider the physical position of your square to be able to attack was really interesting. If your hearts get too close to the sides sometimes the enemies can get to them before you have any chance to defend them. Maybe the enemies should only spawn in places where there at least some minimum distance away from the hearts. I suppose you're sort of able to control your hearts' position with the square, but it's really hard to do consistently so ensuring a certain amount of distance between the enemy spawn and the hearts would probably be good.

Tower of BOOM by BadPiggy 2020-04-24T07:01:06Z

This really feels like it could have existed as an old arcade game. It took a while to get a sense of how to time things, but after a while I got it. I like the mechanic of breaking through windows (so many windows) It felt like a cheesy action movie in that way. X to shoot didn't work well if you were using ASDW Another shoot button that works with that layout would be good. It was fine with the arrow keys, but you know us PC gamers, we want to customize everything.

Junior Juggle by miltage 2020-04-26T12:08:23Z

A good size game to complete within the compo limits. If you could somehow make it more about precision than fast clicking that would probably create greater potential for juggling lots of items. Maybe if you could charge up your click and toss the heavy items higher, that might make it more replayable.

LEADER KEEP THEM ALIVE by Bastienre4 2020-04-24T07:18:11Z

The interface is gorgeous. It really feels like you're crammed in somewhere looking at an old CRT. There's quite a lot of reading and complexity which is cool if you take the time to comprehend it, but can deter some people playing jam games. In the past I tried to make more complex games like this, but lately I've been going for more quick, pick up and play experiences which seem to attract more attention. But something complex like this definitely has more potential to become an actual game.

Courier of Fire by Balgorode 2020-04-24T06:47:47Z

Very similar, but also very different ours. I like how you can walk up the water and how you can relight the fire using the braziers you've already lit. It is definitely more of a puzzle experience where you can stop for a second and think about what to do, whereas in ours it forces you to just go. It took me a while to figure out that you don't need the fire to go through the exit and also It seemed like it the door should just take you to the next level instead of having to specifically interact with it.

Sharkbait by Jimbly 2020-04-26T13:21:09Z

I usually make game jam games with to much text/complexity as well. This time I also tried to go simple. It worked out well for you I think. The eels are really cute, they look like something from a Matt Groening cartoon. I would have liked a bit more direction at the beginning. I did a lot of wandering before what I was seeing started to change.

The Three Sisters by dollarone 2020-04-24T08:56:30Z

Oh my, froze to death. I must admit I'm not in the right mindset to rate this. I've been thinking about gameplay/art etc... It's hard to switch to literary criticism :P Game Jams are tough like that. I've made some text heavy games in the past and they didn't go over very well. But as a writer I have to imagine this is a really good exercise so I hope you got what you wanted personally out of the experience of making this.

VITAL 2020 by bflatinteractive 2020-04-24T07:51:12Z

Wow, this was legitimately unsettling, like in a good way. The core game system doesn't have much to it other than accuracy, but it really captured the sense of impending doom that comes with aging. Games are all about giving the player an experience, and this really did that.

Give Me Fire! by blu3bird 2020-04-21T01:54:55Z

I liked the idea! The pacing was tricky, though. Early game I found myself just ignoring the beat to get stuff done because the beat was so slow. I love the crazy characters that come out to dance, and the fact that the music changes as the fire heats up.

Savior by Ekin 2020-04-22T07:04:02Z

The controls were pretty difficult, but I have to imagine implementing them is more complicated than one might think :P The art style was perfect for a 3D game jam game. Not many people can pull off tasteful 3D in a game jam.

Chivalric Saga by tutoa 2020-04-22T06:00:02Z

Ha, I love the absurdity of it. And yet I'm drawn in, I must help the knight! The music matches the art style well. It wasn't clear to me why the mushrooms were different colors it made me think they each did something different, but I'm not sure.

Mount Ookie by Brusi 2020-04-29T16:45:52Z

All can be accomplished through wasps. The music really set the vibe. You did a really good job limiting the amount of art assets you needed so you could focus on quality. I kept pressing space to jump and throwing wasps accidentally. If possible I would make it so if you press jump within like 0.2 seconds of leaving a platform it still lets you jump. That tends to improve the feel of platformers. Well done!

Beer Tavern by sharbelfs 2020-04-22T06:51:23Z

It's tough to make a game with this many layers understandable, especially in a game jam, but after playing and losing once I generally go the hang of it. You were able to create quite a bit of content in a short time. The vertical layout was cool, though it was just a bit too tall for my browser window so I had to scroll the window up and down and I can't seem to fullscreen it. The character animations were also cute.

Sunlit by palsina 2020-04-29T16:37:51Z

This is honestly one of my favorite jam games of all time. I saw a streamer playing it and had to check it out. Initially I thought I had to trim off the yellow/red leaves which obviously didn't go well. Maybe if you could make them slightly glow in and out to make them seem like they're not dead that would be good. I really liked how I could clip the end of a static branch and get it to grow again.

Civilitris by dasilvacontin 2020-04-29T14:10:41Z

Clearly other people have figured this out, but what does "complete 3 rows/columns of the same type" mean? I made a 3x3 square of all the same type and it didn't count as completing the quest.

Different Strokes by Scott Steffes 2022-04-14T07:45:30Z

@6smith We started by listing things that were inevitable, one idea we had was, "it's inevitable that online communities get invaded by trolls" and the game idea came from that.

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Crystal Turrets by GhostRunners25 2018-04-25T15:07:02Z

Even though it wasn't particularly difficult, I did feel a small sense of satisfaction protecting the crystal. I think if there was a little more challenge to it it would be even more satisfying seeing the turrets mow down the zombies.

Boris's Vbar by Mac Dragoness 2018-04-25T15:14:49Z

Overall fun game concept. The mouse sensitivity seemed really high. I also didn't realize you can run with shift until I had walked around slowly for quite a while.

Agent Patissier by sndr 2018-04-24T14:15:44Z

This is one of the handful of games I've seen so far that I actually found myself getting into and wanting to finish. Baiting guards with food, clever! I think this could legitimately be an interesting game outside of LD!

Rhythmobots Defence by Evannex 2018-04-23T03:49:50Z

I believe the download is missing UnityPlayer.dll

Shot Thru The Heart by sheehan 2018-04-25T04:59:57Z

Thanks for the WebGL build! Glad to see more humor in LD games.

Rainy Night by kumabotz 2018-04-23T05:01:41Z

The kiwi death sound was great :P The dynamic difficulty was also a nice touch.

Dungeon Exploder by wizard sino 2018-05-07T05:53:04Z

Amazing game! The voxel destruction effect was really satisfying. At the very end I was mashing X and it took me back to the main menu and into a new game before I realized what I was doing. Maybe the key to take you back to the main menu should be something other than X. Or maybe it should just take you back to the main menu after some time has passed. I hope to see more of your work at the next Ludum Dare!

Evil Bunnies by Team Luminous 2018-04-25T11:18:03Z

I killed the tiny bunnies before I realized they couldn't hurt me. What an emotional rollercoaster! :P Really cool idea!

Dirty Pink by Carpin 2018-05-07T11:09:44Z

The visuals are amazing! I initially missed the part about switching flavors using right click. That should probably be at the beginning of the tutorial. Also because it's using the mouse, I assumed that where you click affected what happened, So I was left clicking on the 3 flavor circles thinking it would give me different flavors. Other than that amazing execution!

Jet Boy by Harry Light 2018-04-23T04:41:21Z

Not sure why, but Chrome flags your Windows download as potentially malicious.

Greenspawn Restaurant by Apple Dash 2018-04-23T05:20:19Z

Easily the best game I've seen so far this Ludum Dare. I seriously couldn't stop laughing looking at the vegetables combined with the premise. And it totally fits the theme!

CHARLIE by notb 2018-04-23T05:22:53Z

Intriguing concept. I only wish the controls were somehow more responsive so you could get a sense of what you are doing to the system. For a while I thought mouse input wasn't working, but it was.

Dear Clicker by blubberquark 2018-04-23T10:22:39Z

A really clever combination of genres. I made it all the way to the end. (though towards the end I used a tool to help me click faster). A legitimately fun little experience.

Fast & Food by lwt1231234 2018-04-25T15:21:28Z

I loved everything about this game. I had a hard time with the controls sometimes but I felt determined to get better at it. I assumed the order of the ingredients mattered so I waited until I got a slice of bread, avoiding the meat only to realize I was missing it at the end. It would probably also be nice to get a little more detail in how the scoring works. You should totally make this into a more full-fledged game!

Infinite Checkers by blake.s 2018-05-02T10:10:05Z

Cool idea! Would it work to have the player's piece jump two spaces when it properly jumps over another piece? I was expecting it to be more like actual checkers where you needed to make sure you didn't get boxed in by pieces you can't jump over because they are protected by other pieces.

LD42 — Running out of space

Brick In by shockeye 2018-08-14T06:10:57Z

It's fun when you freakin' launch a brick out of the level. It would be nice to have more control with a mouse. (Have the block go to whatever horizontal position the mouse is at) Which would make it too easy, but you could add more complex goals like trying to keep a brick bouncing as long as possible or something like that.

Camp Snuggle by Scott Steffes 2018-08-14T14:43:45Z

@znw They weren't supposed to be homeless :P But they totally look homeless. I was hoping for more of a going out camping vibe. At least they're happy hobos!

Camp Snuggle by Scott Steffes 2018-08-14T16:11:55Z

@constantin The combos just come from scoring points in quick succession. When you score a point, you have 4 seconds to score another point to continue the combo.

Camp Snuggle by Scott Steffes 2018-08-15T04:37:41Z

@bustosman Try the Windows version, it might be better. Also, while the guys are animating onto the screen they can't be moved, so when the animation completes, they suddenly jump to your cursor.

Blood Worm by Rido 2018-08-17T01:33:42Z

Definitely enjoyed the mood of this game. If you changed the game to use a controller you could map the movement of the worm to the L-stick direction. That might make it a lot easier to control.

POLYARNIK by icxon 2018-08-16T01:35:04Z

Really enjoyed the penguins' sounds and animation. It seemed like fairly often the boxes would spawn in locations where you can't push them in the right direction to get to the boat. Would it be possible to control where the boxes spawn so they, for example, avoid the edges?

MapleOS : Backup Royale by megaqueijo 2018-08-14T02:49:33Z

Love the aesthetic and atmosphere of the game. It's nice how the floppy disks orient themselves into the slot when you release them. For a second I thought it was going to be a Hand Simulator sort of experience. The fact that it plays the file load animation whenever you back out of a file gets old after a while even if that's how a real Apple II works. It'd probably be cool if you found even more mysterious images and put together some sort of narrative that player has to piece together from looking through all the files.

Dyson's Fear by zeta0134 2018-08-14T03:10:34Z

Wow, it really works. Most impressive. It even has color on a GBA emulator.

MoodFood by DosWosh 2018-08-17T01:26:28Z

Loved the art and the music. Reminded me a little of Fight Knight. https://twitter.com/sorcerobe I wasn't crazy about how slow the gun is, but maybe that's the point.

Foggy raft by dimlight 2018-08-14T13:39:39Z

This is really impressive! I think it's quite fun once you get into it. With some polish on easing the player into the tactics and game play I think this could be an even better experience. Much respect to the team that made this.

Zone Out 42 by Kisamegr 2018-08-14T13:24:51Z

Really cute.

Cluster by Ignacio Zamorano 2018-08-14T13:53:44Z

I really liked the character design and i thought the dude laughing manically in the back was hilarious. I think the base idea for the game play was good but I would have enjoyed it more with more variation in the combat and types of the files you have to break. The power ups are good example of some nice variation so applying that to the enemies as well would create a less consistent pace which i think would be more fun. Anyway great job :)

Blob Attack by AdiH 2018-08-14T13:02:36Z

The Jumping mechanics were pretty good and the idea behind the boss at the end was interesting but I was pretty confused about what to do most of the time. Maybe tweaking the game so you have to trap other enemies too would be interesting :)

EPIC THEATER by filgreen3 2018-08-15T01:29:43Z

Even after clicking confirm and having no free seats, the game wouldn't start. I must be missing something.

Johnny's Flipbook Space Adventure by schizoid2k 2018-08-16T01:40:04Z

The art, SFX, and humor were great! Asteroids-style controls are unavoidably floaty. Making the thrust stronger but adding friction (even though it's in space) might help. If you restrict the game to use the controller you could make it so the ship points in whatever direction the L-stick is pointed. This would give you a lot more control over the ship.

Pervertica - CCG by mitus 2018-08-14T14:01:28Z

I like the art a lot but i could not figure out how to play the game. You might consider having button callouts in-game to explain what action is suppose to do what and at what time though I know it might be annoying to implement haha.

The Subway: horror within by Bibilega 2018-08-15T01:37:21Z

Can confirm, riding the train is exactly like this. I've never thought about screaming though. Amazing art. Had a hard time figuring out the proper strategy for the game. Probably just need to play it several more times. I still have no idea what the "X" in the upper right corner does. Good music/SFX!

Space Shack by Apple Dash 2018-08-13T16:32:03Z

Had a hard time with the controls. I really enjoyed Greenspawn Restaurant, it didn't laugh as much this time. Enjoyed the dialogue. Keep it up!

Stuck! by chkkll 2018-08-14T03:38:20Z

I live in Japan, can confirm, it's exactly like this. It felt good to figure out the pattern of getting people to move. I panicked at the end because the 2 guys by the door don't move. Good music.

Mini Organizer 3000 by dankar 2018-08-14T02:20:32Z

Fun little puzzle game. Good level design. It would be nice if there was a restart button for when you know you messed up and can't finish the level. Obviously you can put a piece in a pit, but a button would be nice.

CATSITTER by PureGarlic 2018-08-14T02:59:19Z

Great little game. The meowing sound effect was great. The physics are a little wonky, but that probably contributes to the wacky feel of it.

Spaceness by themarioga 2018-08-15T01:23:00Z

The 2.5D effect is cool. You could make the farther away objects a different color (atmospheric perspective) to make it clearer where they are along the Z axis. Even though there's not atmosphere in space :P

CapyBarbra: A New Brow by Ratherjolly 2018-08-17T01:45:11Z

Fun concept! It would be nice if there was something active you could do to eat through the hair faster. It would also be good if it didn't make the chewing sound when you're not actually chewing on a hair. That tripped me up a couple times.

(After A) PARTY SIMULATOR 2018 by Autumnotopia 2018-08-14T03:17:23Z

I dig the art style. It would be nice if it told you which of the food items were wrong. At least it would be nice if it didn't reset the food positions every time you enter and exit the menu. I got a little lost. Reading the descriptions I know I could have figured it out. But there was very little feedback along the way to give me a sense of if I was on the right track or not.

Balls Deep In Lava by BlueMirror 2018-08-14T13:17:16Z

Just the name alone is pure gold! The movement mechanics were much better than I expected. This could be really fun with different enemy types as some people have said here.

Blast Off by Nattress 2018-08-14T13:10:02Z

I agree with a lot of the feedback already written here. I had hard time actually hitting enemies as well as collecting rocket parts (never was actually able to do it despite running over them a lot) But I like the concept of the shrinking map it kind of felt like a geometry wars level!

ChromeStuck by Inferture 2018-08-14T02:14:46Z

Pretty intense. It's tough to aim properly. Maybe you could have used the R-stick to aim. (point the gun in whatever direction the R-stick is pressed. And used the D-pad to change color since there were only 4 colors. Is there a way to make the walls retreat? I played 4 games and got wrecked every time.

The Last Floe by LeoRototo 2018-08-15T02:09:16Z

Freaking hilarious! The mouse scroll wheel to change weapons was a bit touchy.

Zoltan's Idea by Fanu 2019-04-30T16:40:59Z

An excellent take on the theme, probably the hardest part of this LD :P It looks like there was some kind of blur effect when the camera moved sometimes. How do you do that in Unity?

Sinking Town by detectiveLosos 2019-05-01T10:48:39Z

I loved the mix of 2D and 3D! I was also impressed by the shader work to show the character when they are covered by a roof. In the end I couldn't find a replacement lens for the factory door by I was able to jump onto the roof using the fence.

Temple of Sacrifice by Dooda 2019-04-29T19:10:18Z

Ha, I guess we weren't the only ones to make a text-heavy game about sacrifice! Interesting concept! Impressive thing to pull off in a game jam.

Blood and Glory by adrupen 2019-05-01T10:21:49Z

I wonder if it would have felt better to use the mouse to move/look left and right. It felt like the turning had too much inertia to control.

Paid in Blood by Scott Steffes 2019-04-29T19:38:34Z

@noobexception we struggled to find a balance where you didn't always get wrecked at the beginning. The sacrifice turns get closer together as the game goes on, but I guess that's not enough to kill off your burgeoning village.

Bioenfluencer by caevv 2019-04-30T05:42:53Z

You definitely nailed the theme, maybe the hardest part of this jam :P

Hollow Priest by pandan 2019-04-29T19:33:39Z

Extremely impressive game. I loved the shader work to reveal the bones. It took me a while to realize you had to jump and shoot at the same time. You can get across some of the spaces by shooting only, but it's way easier if you jump first. I didn't realize that until I got to the tower where you have to jump across the missing stairs. Great take on the theme. We really struggled with the theme, but you nailed it!

GAIZAN : JUSTICE WAR by 3mpty 2019-04-30T05:14:23Z

Not My Hoarder by Tommyflower 2019-10-08T09:43:07Z

Great music and aesthetic! As the creator of one hoarder game to another, I was entertained to see what a different direction you took the 'hoarding' idea in. Cool gameplay loop. I felt like the hallway was a bit too long, but other than that it was fun!

The Thrill of the Loan by TJMcDonald 2019-10-09T00:50:58Z

Mechanics, writing, graphics - loved them all! Great font too. I have to say the dialog was very well done, both characters bounced off each other well. My only point of feedback would be that it would have been fun to choose your own response before the mini-game, even if the results of the responses didn't differ very much, just to add a little more interaction.

Cheese Finder by Tory 2019-10-08T09:37:57Z

While you're here by Dinorex 2019-10-09T00:15:57Z

THE DUKE OF ABINSWAY by Daniel Alhadeff 2019-10-08T09:51:46Z

I really love the concept of this game. The intro was interesting, but felt longer than necessary due to the scrolling speed of the text. I kind of wish the text scrolled faster or appeared at once, allowing people to read at whatever speed they prefer. There were also a lot of typos. But overall the game and prose kept me interested right up to the end! Great job for only 48 hours!

Very challenging! I love the idea and the framework. The "Something - something - nothing" animation at the beginning got a little bit tiring after playing it multiple times.

...and to Nothingness Return by philomory 2019-10-08T01:27:38Z

Awesome idea! Loved the graphics and the sound effects, and the gameplay is simple in a good way.

Priest of RAGE by TheVideoGamester 2019-10-11T00:13:34Z

Major props for taking the theme to the EXTREME! I thought the 40 price tag for Controls was a bit high. Otherwise I really enjoyed it!

Green Dragon Inn by MrTroy 2019-10-09T02:28:56Z

I agree with Gix's comments! There were a few typos but overall the writing was engaging. I managed to make it home! I also loved how easy and simple the interface was.

DOG DAZE by Michael K im 2019-10-11T00:19:06Z

Love the Doggo and how you can fly all around the map, completely uninhibited by the workings of the modern man! Great animation.

Begging Simulator 2019 by lekiy 2019-10-09T00:28:29Z

Love the concept and presentation of this game. Understandably, it's in a prototype stage as written above, but the gameplay loop did feel a bit too simplistic. I would be really interested to see what sort of other stats/events could be added if it went beyond the prototype stage!

Cut from Whole Cloth by Chad Cable 2019-10-09T00:35:01Z

Great art and writing. The mechanic was very interesting and well-implemented. I had trouble doing a good job due to getting lag, but maybe that was due to my browser/PC.

Falling by Dizzy Dalvin 2019-10-08T14:35:38Z

Fun idea, love the graphics! It seems a bit too easy to hide on the edge of the screen!

Cupcake Quest by oceanm 2019-10-09T00:07:56Z

Cute but hard game! Love the graphics.

DREAMS by Ferdi 2019-10-08T14:22:04Z

Strangely entrancing! Very fun game to mess around with, and great physics!

Disabled Hospital by Paulsams 2019-10-11T00:04:01Z

Great art! The controls were also on point, and there were an impressive amount of features added. I wish there had been some sort of story intro at the beginning to give at least a little context as to why I had to beat up all the other people.

The Tale of Earl by dans17 2019-10-11T01:48:06Z

Interesting idea, well executed! Took me a bit to get the hang of it, but once I did, I definitely saw the potential. very creative! My only minor piece of criticism was that it would have been nicer to be able to return to the title screen more quickly after dying, since you die a lot in the beginning!

ZERMATT: ZERO by FireSlash 2019-10-08T03:42:26Z

Great music, and amazing art output! Love the aesthetic too.

Mall-icious Intent by superjai 2019-10-09T02:25:44Z

Love the animation and idea! I felt like it was hard to kill the flying enemies. The dodge was a lot of fun to use!

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

The Depths of Science by Trusty 2021-04-27T02:44:55Z

You said webgl hasn't been tested, so no points off, but just FYI the mouse sensitivity was massively boosted, making it very very difficult to play. Otherwise, it seemed to run fine! I'm impressed with your models! And the elevator system was actually really impressive :)

Well Down by CamCam 2021-04-27T12:56:32Z

The spikes are pretty hard to see :P

Padrum Trudge by TheMentalSheep 2021-04-27T02:33:13Z

I liked the music the most! It reminded me a little of Diablo 1 era tunes.

Infinit Pachinko by BrianGlassman 2021-04-28T02:22:04Z

Very cool idea of what seems like a random game (pachinko), but being able to influence it using upgrades. It makes me think there could be other games like this where you take a gambling game but make it possible to influence it in unique ways.

Is this a tiger? by limered 2021-04-27T03:01:20Z

I loved this game! A little silliness and a one-button control scheme makes me happy.

Singularity Dive by JmO14 2021-04-27T02:39:44Z

I only got 5335 T_T I felt the speed really well — the slight shake on things made it feel like it was hurtling at me.

Archlike by Ayced 2021-04-28T02:36:39Z

Impressive to make a 3D game in a game jam. The tutorial was a nice touch. The attacks felt slow and it was hard to tell when they hit, and also hard to tell when the enemies hit you. Faster attacks and some feedback/camera shake when you get hit would be nice.

Paperload - Deep Bass Edition by frokes 2021-04-28T02:25:42Z

I love the really shaky art style, it makes it feel more frantic.

MION FOREVER by JoshTheStriker 2021-04-28T01:17:21Z

The art is super cute and the sprite animations are really nice.

Jojo's Treasure by poddlesli 2021-04-27T03:36:05Z

Adorable! I can only imagine how this game would hit with some cute sound effects, too. I got a very Untitled Goose Game vibe from the art style.

Some Great Cave Offensive by IkigaiSeitetsu 2021-04-27T13:00:21Z

The movement mechanic and what causes you to die were really interesting! It's almost like a puzzle game in that respect. The mouse chirp sound effect is really cute.

We Have to Go Deeper! by Scott Steffes 2021-04-27T23:59:34Z

@boxedmeatrevolution there are a couple of things you can do to get a better time! First, make sure you don't hold down charge when you don't need to, since it slows you down. Second, the boost zones are your friend! Releasing a charge inside one gives you a massive burst of speed. Third, there are a few checkpoints in the level. Learning where they are and taking a tactical death right after you cross one can help you reset your health without losing much time. Hope that helps! Happy speedrunning :)

We Have to Go Deeper! by Scott Steffes 2021-05-10T01:58:56Z

@midnightmist @bitsandcrafts @polkoii Thanks for playing! Out of curiosity, how did you find our game this late in the jam?

Hey, Wake Up! by SeaFishelle 2021-04-28T02:19:34Z

Controls felt good. It would be cool if there were more design elements to add more strategic depth. Pills that make you slower, but you get more from each energy drink. Or something like that.

Plumber Ants by sekol 2021-04-27T04:15:10Z

This is my favorite game so far of the jam. I wish I could see the goal a little clearer, but I was mesmerized the whole way down!

Tunnel of Love: I'm Digging It by chelC 2021-04-28T02:33:11Z

This was a great idea. All the dialogue was really great. The fact that you can choose how hard you want it to be by getting more or fewer gifts was great. For people who don't have time to figure out the puzzles they could still enjoy the story. It would be nice if you could put pieces back without clearing everything.

Down Whale by notpjriavs 2021-04-27T13:04:58Z

Love the art! Killing enemies felt very satisfying.

100 by woahitsjeff 2021-04-27T02:28:15Z

I liked the atmosphere! I couldn't get the Q menu to come up, though. Was I supposed to be able to mine blocks 1 above me, or not?

The Reapers Course by Pepper Boi 2021-04-28T02:13:34Z

Platforming felt good. It felt a bit slow and cramped. I think it would feel better if it was faster and you weren't constantly running into walls

Nuclear Arms 8: Navigate the Hate by Logicon211 2021-04-27T16:19:00Z

Oh heck yeah! I always look forward to the next Nuclear Arms game. Great take on the theme!

20.000 LIGHT YEARS deep in THE SKY by Arivenzys 2021-04-29T09:52:03Z

The voice was such a great addition! It would be nice if the text boxes got bigger when you hovered over them.

Hey this is Nate from "We Have to Go Deeper!" team. Thank you for playing our game on your stream. You were very kind and I enjoyed watching the stream until the end.

Anyway, I played your game today and was super impressed with the quality. Your game had incredible mood (audio experience, graphics, VO, narrative design). All those aspects were so high quality!

Looks like you have gotten plenty of comments about the controls having confusing elements. I would tend to agree as I found myself spinning out of control not knowing how to make it stop or which direction to go. Even after pausing and reviewing the controls I could not seem to get my self to stop spinning (if that is something you can do) I can see the choice to make the controls feel realistic was very intentional but perhaps there are some simplifications that could be made and still achieve the same game feel you were aiming for?

Anyway looking forward to seeing more from you guys!

LD54 — Limited Space

If I Fits, I Sits! by cheesepencil 2023-10-05T00:31:04Z

I assumed that because 'a' was left arrow, then 'd' would be right arrow. Took a few tries to figure that out it was 's'. Might make more sense for 's' to be halt instead of 'z'

LD56 — Tiny Creatures

Fear of the Ungnome by Scott Steffes 2024-10-11T19:10:10Z

@historymaker118 There is always one clue in each room and it changes every time you come through. In the first room there are 4 possible clues, one high, one low, one on the shelf, and one on the wall, For later rooms, if the colors above the doors are different then there's something else hidden in the room that indicates which color is correct. If the colors are the same then it's something else. A lot of the clues are in the paintings.
