Heya! The itch.io link seems to be broken, sadly >"This game has been restricted by the author and can not be downloaded. The owner of the page must give permission to those they wish to access the page."

>"We noticed that this game has never been published, perhaps the creator forgot to publish it before sharing?"

coolgunxdd 2022-10-03 17:49

First music I’ve seen so far. I love how you randomize to song and put it into game. Art looks nice and rock and roll!!! Itch.io link is broken.

scott-steffes 2022-10-03 18:30

@noir @coolgunxdd It should be working now!

noir 2022-10-03 19:42

Ever dreamt of pushing your own mixtape? Well, now you can! Thanks yo 10-second-mixtape, anyone can become a musician!

Very fun small game. Love the idea. The overall mood of the game screams just pure innocent fun!

lespaul59 2022-10-04 09:35

This is such a unique great idea and the art style, mechanics, music, sound... its just fantastic! You really did a awesome job. This is a real Game Gem!

paul-giovannini 2022-10-04 09:43

Amazing! Love how you've implemented the theme. Graphics are amazing, really nice entry! Huge GG!

rincs 2022-10-04 09:43

@coolgunxdd @noir @lespaul59

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!! :D

keffk5 2022-10-04 09:53

What a show!! The idea is so fresh, and the art, sounds, everything... a beautiful mix of wacky and wonderful, love love love it! I could just feel the community without them being there <3 Thanks for having me on stage!

rincs 2022-10-04 10:06

@paul-giovannini Thanks so much!! :D

@keffk5 I hope you had fun on stage!!! :D

jaybaus 2022-10-04 10:24

This is so much fun, I couldn't put it down! The graphics were so good and polished, the concept is brilliant, it felt really good to play and I'm impressed with the multiplayer element. Really awesome job, well done :)

ha-kuro 2022-10-04 10:24

I adore this idea so much. I'm really impressed by the online capabilities of this game! All of the sprites have so much character, the whole thing is just so charming. 10/10 would mixtape again

phillip-scott 2022-10-04 10:36

Really fun concept - the mixes I ended up with were hilariously bad. Great entry!

ex3d0 2022-10-04 10:44

First off I have to say I'm super impressed by pulling off an online game for an LD, that's super difficult to accomplish.

The sprites are really well done and fit the games super lighthearted not too serious mood really well.

My final mixtape had me actually cackling due to how absurd and wacky it was. While the music nerd in me wanted to make a decent sounding track, it was really amusing just making the most absurd track possible. 10/10 would jam again

angrybeard 2022-10-04 10:51

really fun and unique concept! great way to create a multiplayer game in which you dont necessarily need to match players in realtime for it to be working :)

macmist 2022-10-04 10:54

That's impressive! Loved every aspect, cool graphics, easy to understand, fun to play, and wow collaborative as well. Would be really nice to have the possiblity to move the notes to adjust timing. Had a lot of fun and being on stage at the end is such a cool idea!

rincs 2022-10-04 11:07

@macmist Definitely something we have on the ideas board, just didn't have enough time to implement (the note movement). Glad you enjoyed the game!! :D

waterfowler 2022-10-04 11:14

This is one of my favorite entries so far, very well done, nice graphics, sounds, everything. I feel like a permanent version of this should be uploaded somewhere. If people use sfxr to make sound effects this could totally be used to make game music. Maybe I just got lucky, but I really felt like the final result was something I could actually use in game. Very high marks from me!

keithswanger 2022-10-04 11:14

The presentation is so well done. I hope my submissions make the perfect fit for someone's track :)

eugenik 2022-10-04 12:01

groovy game! thanks!.

harry-alissavakis 2022-10-04 12:06

WOW this is amazing! Awesome art, great concept and I can't even imagine what it took on the technical end to make this work! Amazing idea and the fact that it's also a community experience makes it so much better!

I could do with some options to erase specific tracks so that I don't start all over if I mess up, but that's such a small thing compared to how awesome this is. Seriously one of the best entries I've seen in this and any jam tbh. Amazing work, well done!

zyger 2022-10-04 12:16

THIS IS AWESOME!!!! love the art and it makes the game looks so cool.

brainoid 2022-10-04 12:22

I'm a one band man myself. with my guitar I play chords with high notes and a melody over it with bass notes. I love the experience. I wish there was a way to navigate through all the results freely but yeahhh. Me gusta!

honest-dan 2022-10-04 12:23

as soon as a friend linked this to me, I was like "This by the same people who did the collaborate art game last time?"! It has your signature! create a clean well presented framework that allows online non-real time collaboration to be the heart of the experience. good idea! I expected when I selected a track on the final bit that they would be playing in my band, but it didn't seem to work that way. Wasn't sure why I was choosing the tapes pre show as a result.

okshirl 2022-10-04 12:31

omg the art for the mixtapes is so cute! Now i wish there was a sticker pack for those multi colored tapes. I really enjoyed all the customizable parts. I wonder if it would be easier to punch in the notes if the asdfghj... were in a horizontal orientation like a real keyboard? it took me a bit to figure out which key connects to which music note, but it was still fun :D

rincs 2022-10-04 14:59

@okshirl Thank you!! I had fun making those mixtapes >w<

I felt the same way as you about the notes, and passed the message along hehe. Thank you again! Glad you enjoyed playing!

100th-coin 2022-10-04 15:49

Hey, just a heads up, it didn't seem to run on my machine! I was recording some gameplay footage for you though in case you need to investigate what's going on. Let me know if you make add a post-submission build that fixes this!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-w7d-O49lY

rincs 2022-10-04 16:59

@100th-coin Oh no! That error is back again!! I encountered that earlier and it had been resolved but it's back! I'll let the others know, and ping you again (if you like) when it's fixed.

tharky 2022-10-04 21:56

Black screen on start, couldn't play the game :<

midblue 2022-10-04 22:08

@tharky @100th-coin Game is back! The perils of making an online game — if your database crashes while the network guy is asleep, we get some downtime. Thanks for being patient :)

cyrolis 2022-10-05 07:59

Online game for a jam ! Wow well done ! And I like the vibe of the game :)

andidebob 2022-10-05 08:40

God this game is amazing! I can't even begin to think how hard this must have been to build, but everything just works so well. The instruments and "instruments" all sound so good and it is crazy how well everything just works together. I am stunned, this is definetly one of my favourite games of this jam so far. Really well done!

Also I hope we get a most highly rated songs video (like a top 10) after the jam as a community post!

badcop 2022-10-05 09:21

I played this one on stream last night! unfortunately the VOD got muted, so no link :(

This was a blast to play, thanks for bringing it by the stream!

I loved the visuals and the gameplay concept, as well as the main game loop of making a song -> rating some others' music.

the only question is... how do I rate the audio category for this?!

rickylee 2022-10-05 09:54

Absolutely amazing! I love it so much \o/ you guys make an awesome team ^^

jamescoburn246 2022-10-05 11:07

Really awesome game, it has a unique take on the theme, and it has a cozy audio and visual theme.

kepsert 2022-10-05 13:33

Interesting concept with some cool concept and I got to create some TERRIBLE music which was great. I just wish I could see the actual (musical) notes next to the letter, would've helped me make some AWESOME music FOR SURE. Anyway, The Great Steeds or whatever they were called was the best bands I've ever seen.

sean-esopenko 2022-10-05 17:14

Wow this is innovative compared to everything else in the jam! Thanks for playing our game in your stream last night!

skitak 2022-10-05 17:17

Very nice work, it's unique and engages the player in a creative manner, loved it!

sarizard 2022-10-05 17:48

No way this is so cute. I loved it, the graphics and sound are just awesome, good job!

bqq 2022-10-05 18:05

Oh nice, another collaborative game, loved the art gallery from last time! Not sure if not having any quantization is good or not :D it really keeps the handmade feel for the songs. Great aesthetic and UI design as well!

100th-coin 2022-10-05 18:06

Actually a perfect score all across the board. I'm so glad I went back to try it again. The final song I made is a real masterpiece. (well, all of them are, but the last one especially)

I had a lot of fun with this! All the music I compose is in a synthesizer, but I usually just click to place notes. Having the use the keyboard makes it extra tricky, but that added to the chaotic fun.

Here's the video if you want to rock along to "music" I put together. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WXAjWkJFQmU

bun 2022-10-05 19:10

I loved it, it's so good! I made horrible sounds, but the concept with the 10 seconds theme is a great idea! A version of the game where it's possible to manage several instruments to make music would also be nice and I'm sure people would make good songs with it!

don-fouts 2022-10-05 19:37

This is really well made, great work! It's wild how polished this is for a 72 hour game jam. Very impressive, congrats on the amazing entry.

shmador 2022-10-05 20:13

Actually really nice and original, I wish I knew more music theory to enjoy it more ;p

shumarie 2022-10-05 23:22

Very cool game! It's great that you were able to realize the presence of the results of other players.

For the melody editor, I would like the following improvements: 1. Add the ability to move notes. 2. Make it so that when composing a melody, you can select a fragment of a song that will be played in a loop, and at this time it can be edited. It is not very convenient to listen to the recording again many times for the sake of changing in one place. 3. It would be very convenient if it was possible to lengthen/shorten notes manually. It is clear that during the jam it is quite difficult to implement on a par with other things.

In my opinion, you have done a great job. There is a lot of beautiful art, there is a design of different characters, a selection of sounds, the composition of melodies, an implemented editor, the presence of the results of other players. Amazing job!

rincs 2022-10-06 03:01

@sean-esopenko Thanks for giving our game a go as well!! :D

@100th_Coin I'm glad you got the chance to play!! It is a shame about the "Enterprise" maybe someday we can have it so that the selections get saved through shuffles. xD Kudos to "The Documentary" LOL!!

@shumarie Certainly would like to improve on those things! Perhaps after the jam~ Thank you for enjoying the game!

rayne 2022-10-06 03:51

I can't believe you made this in such a short time. Amazing submission!

jag 2022-10-06 06:38

What an absolutely lovely game. I enjoyed everything about this. The artwork the synth tracks and just the whole vibe of this. I think when most people think of "every 10 seconds" we're thinking of something fast paced an action packed, but you guys took it in a calm and melodic direction. Thank you for making such a beautiful game!

michaelaranda 2022-10-06 08:21

It's always nice to see entries that are more of a toy than a game. High replayability! Impressive that you could put this together in just one weekend!

infinitycore 2022-10-06 10:18

ok, that was pretty cool, albeit a bit laggy

dgspitzer 2022-10-06 14:30

5/5 Really innovative and fun to play!! A Music Jam in a Game Jam, why not? haha

itooh 2022-10-06 19:12

Oh my god, I adore this! Musical expression in games is something that fascinate me, and that I try to implement in some of my own games. This idea is just brilliant, and really well executed! I could spend hours in this. Making music is fun and rewarding, and discovering other player's creation is also cool! Being forced to mix with arbitrary selected players is clever, it adds enough randomness to avoid blank page syndrome and try new things.

And on top of all that, the presentation is absolutely charming. This is my favorite entry so far, mostly because it matches exactly the kind of concept I love!

indigo 2022-10-06 19:28

Oh my god, this is so fun to play. I have absolutely no suggestions for improvements, this is just all around awesome.

I actually disagree with suggestions to improve the melody editor, I think it's perfect as it is. It makes it feel like a real jam session, which is the whole point. Absolutely well done.

I lucked out and my band got an *amazing* cat lyricist.

sleepymenace 2022-10-06 19:39

Incredibly polished and impressive! Big Jackbox vibes. Absolutely love it!

substain 2022-10-06 19:44

Awesome game! Only a few sounds were kind of annoying sometimes. But I really had a lot of cool bandmates!

nenechico 2022-10-06 23:40

THATS a GOOOOOOOOOOOD idea mens. Love it

chris1919 2022-10-07 02:30

I had a great time. I played enough times that I got to make a song with my previous track. It may or may not sound a bit like lean on me...

The whole vibe was great. The art really set me up to be in a creative space. The game showed a lot of polish, but I feel like the volumes of the instruments could be tuned a bit better.

interface 2022-10-07 02:59

I love the idea and the art and everything about it. It was just unplayable for me due to input lag. I have a gaming PC, and I tried both the html build and the windows download but I just could not enjoy my terrible off-beat creations. I used my speakers which are straight-wired into audio of the desktop PC so no bluetooth lag.

I will score it ignoring the lag though - as it seems from the comments either I'm the only having this problem, or the only one bothered by it.

projectcolorball 2022-10-07 02:59

such a awesome idea!though I am not good at music。。。(rate back?)

link270 2022-10-07 05:25

Really cool idea! I love the idea of making things like this with others. The sounds were really nice, and graphics were cool. As far as a game goes there wasn't a ton there, it was more like a cool experience. Nice job!

tanner-shelton 2022-10-07 05:25

This was a super fun concept. I really liked the collaborative nature. One problem I had was it seemed like there was some sort of lag. So I would press a key and then it would hit. So it was really hard to keep on beat and make something nice. But fun game!

cassowary 2022-10-07 06:46

This is amazing, I had a blast with this one. I always love the LD entries that have a social/collaborative component to them. I actually thought "this reminds me of the painting game from last time," and apparently that was also done by you guys :p

I also love games that do something interesting with music, so this is excellent!! And I love that it has you collaborate with random other people. The melody input is kind of janky, but I think that's a good thing in a way -- it makes you not feel like you have to worry about getting it 100% right. The sort of 'half-baked-ness' of the songs you come up with is part of the charm, haha.

lepoulet 2022-10-07 10:46

This is an incredibly good idea. Making and sharing stuff is really cool.

nash 2022-10-07 10:49

I was going to comment that the idea is very similar than the last jams winner had - but then I realised it is the same people behind the game!

Social and pseudo-multiplayer games are always very interesting to see. When compared to the last jams entry, I think this one is slightly worse. This is because the tapes are filled with tracks where people were just testing the game and mashing buttons. This inconsistency in quality did not matter too much in a painting game (and you were fixing other people's art anyway) but here it takes away from the experience if it is impossible to make the end result sound decent - especially if the player understands something about music.

But not to sound overly negative, I think this entry is still superb and highly innovative. It just shows the potential challenges social games like this may have with a need to curate content or match the player with at least decent content to give them a change to get good results.

Great work!

kalendhos 2022-10-07 11:47

The concept and its execution are very cute. It's a pleasure to see what the project makes. Maybe it could be more obvious, in game, that the other musics we listen were made by players. ("Maybe" because I often miss obvious things. It's just my proper experience with your game)

I had a doubt about the theme. "It's just 10s loops". But the "Every" makes sense when we see all the work for sharing players 10s loops. Finally, I think it's a good/smart use of the theme.

The design is incredible, as the mood (Not when I listen my music, but it's MAYBE because I'm terrible on playing music). A lot of details like the buttons' names, etc. The atmosphere is perfect.

Really a very very good job !

midblue 2022-10-07 11:47

@nash Thanks for the comment! You're definitely right about the challenges of group-curated and group-edited content — we're still feeling out that space and some things hit harder than others, and I think there's a lot of opportunity there. We'll keep exploring! Thanks for playing :)

r3l0ad1 2022-10-07 15:40

Cool game! its fun and the idea is well executed, nice work!

trexxak 2022-10-07 17:48

Loving all the crazy characters and randomly generated (band) names!

While the mixtapes I was part of were pretty bad, it's awesome you try to explore user generated content in video game form even further. That being said, I kind of missed walking through neverending hallways to explore on my own...

Nevertheless, awesome experience!

angela-he 2022-10-08 05:44

this was so cool! everything was so cool, i spent half my playthrough rating other people's jams on the start screen..... i can't imagine the wizardry behind that networking code, and to be done in 3 days... :0

boorulz 2022-10-08 06:23

This is such a creative use of the prompt. Everything is intuitive, and the art is top notch.

nyxkn 2022-10-08 06:35

This is so well made! I thought maybe the music input was a bit clumsy, esp. how the clear button was clearing everything. The game is really unique and very fun to play. I really liked how adding other members would throw in randomness rather than manually playing every member. Unexpectedly, after playing a few rounds, I spent most of the time listening to other bands. That feature was REALLY neat. I hoped I'd see my band in concert but that didn't happen :( Art is really cute and all names are brilliant. Overall really well polished and an excellent entry for a jam!

rincs 2022-10-08 07:11

@nyxkn You can also delete notes individually by clicking them, but we did notice that many players tend to not see that instruction (it's on the music making screen) so we probably should make that more obvious XD ahaha

Hopefully if you check back again you'll see it. xD Thanks for playing our game! :D

nardandas 2022-10-08 08:04

I played this on stream and it is a fantastic stream game, really really fun. The last song I made was an absolute BANGER. I made some super high concept stuff too. Overall a jam. Great concept - great job!

melbadream 2022-10-08 09:53

Honestly, this is awesome!

Also honestly, I absolutely suck at everything music related, especially the creation part. Well, mostly the creation part (I played the piano when I was little and was decent at it, and I can tell pretty easily what sounds good and what doesn't - but create something... The nightmare). So, everything I try to play sounds atrocious. EVERY SINGLE THING.

I loved the concept though, it's so cool and it works so well! I'm just way too bad at it T_T

Some feedback: - It was really hard to make notes with the same duration (maybe multiple fixed duration instead of full analog would have made it easier - but maybe it would have taken something from the creation process, I don't know. - Clicking on notes to remove them was hard (when I finally understood I could do that). A more generous hitbox, maybe? An option to remove only one line or even one measure would have been great too! - That's mostly personal and I'm not really sure it could be done, but a "beginner at music" or "I suck at creating music" option would have been awesome too with less liberty in the creation, like very fixed notes duration, or locked timings, but more chances to do something that does not sound atrocious xD)

This is the best game I played honestly - most polished, really fun concept, really nice execution. I just suck at it ahah

vidarn 2022-10-08 11:49

Amazing! I had a lot of fun playing around with this, such a cool concept. My only complaint is that it was very hard to make something actually sound nice . It would have been great with an option to quantize the notes so the timing was a bit easier. Other than that however, it's all spot on!

spencerflem 2022-10-08 16:07

So incredibly well made, honestly inspiring Visuals are gorgeous, all the sounds are perfect Best game I've played so far, by a lot

rawb 2022-10-09 01:05

This is one of the most impressive games I've seen in a game jam. The whole aesthetic is really cool and the idea is brilliant. It's just exciting to play a song with a random person online. Great work!

mikkyti 2022-10-10 15:43

such a fun game!) I really love the vibe)))

celthim 2022-10-11 21:21

Already told to Rincs but I love it so much ! The character design is fabulous and the whole idea super wholesome ! Thanks for the vibes, it gives a lot of smiles (The dogs reminds me so much of Undertale's one

flyingkaida 2022-10-12 16:01

AAAAAAAAAA SO FUN!!! I can so see pulling this out and showing people as a party game! So fun. And my fav instruments were 100% the cat and dog! Great game!

rincs 2022-10-12 16:32

I'm glad you really enjoyed having fun with itt!!! @celthim !! <3

@flyingkaida Thank you for playing!! And I agree with your choice of instruments! :D

martina-angelico 2022-10-12 21:47

OMG this is one of the most fun games I ever played on this jam honestly, I spend a lot of my time making tracks and being a judge of other people bands. the game is really intuitive and the UI is perfect. <3

epeachyband 2022-10-13 06:48

Masterpiece!

matt-ravenhall 2022-10-13 19:15

I really love the art style for this, my music less so!

ryan-dotsikas 2022-10-13 19:54

God damn the art in this is absolutely outstanding, some of the best I've seen! I love the style of it too, and the fact that this all works in such an interesting async online way is so so cool. I am for sure not very musically inclined and felt like I was trying but not making very good music, but hey this was so unique. Great job!

artofluba 2022-10-14 00:06

Really cool graphics! I have no musical sense but somehow it still worked out.

skyward4d 2022-10-14 21:10

I recognise the collaborative element from your previous "Different Strokes" at play here as well, I love being connected to my fellow jam-participants in this way. So thank you for that experience, great idea, fantastic execution.

lootgrounds 2022-10-15 10:17

Found it on itch. This is ridiculously amazing! I guess you know but anyway, keyboard inputs aren't working in web version.

scott-steffes 2022-10-15 16:18

@lootgrounds They're working for me in Chrome.

rincs 2022-10-16 10:37

@lootgrounds It's also working for me on firefox @_@;;

kleinzach 2022-10-16 19:10

This is fantastic! Great idea and I cant see anything wrong with the implementation either. Great job!

jonathan-lorenz 2022-10-18 13:09

Love the idea. It was challenging to find tracks that were not random noise. Good work!

paul-avallone 2022-10-19 03:50

Incredibly creative idea. Love the band names and that in the menu you can upvote and downvote other players songs. Super well scoped and masterfully executed. Great job!

yword 2022-10-20 09:05

Awesome! Very cool idea, flawless implementation, incredible sounds and instruments, and amazing art style too! Very very good in all aspects. Keep up the great work!

euler-moises 2022-10-20 13:31

I, as a musician, say I loved the idea. Sometimes the sound gets a little messy, but I imagine that's the intention. The graphics are beautiful and the randomization of possibilities (at least it seems random to me) is very good.

The only thing missing was the possibility of recording your music so that other people could listen and rate it, but I imagine that will come in the future.

Congratulations!

rincs 2022-10-20 15:13

@yword Thank you!! :D

@euler-moises The bands you hear at the start/front page are the bands/music that others have made, it's shown in random but you can either rate them up (this rocks) or down (no me gusta) and those that get rated up can get shown more often to other players. So it's there, just showing in random. xD

dzolkin 2022-10-20 17:55

I liked that the game does not rush, unlike other games where if time runs out, you will lose. It's cool what was done with multiplayer and every time you play with a person, sometimes it's a minus, but it's more interesting.

nerdyherbivore 2022-10-22 16:45

this is great. 10/10
