SLEEPYMENACE

Summon Shuffleboard by thyoi 2024-04-13T18:13:53Z ♥ 4

Hey man, shit happens, don't beat yourself up over it! (The theme isn't exactly super inspiring to begin with.)

I'm sure it'll go better next time!

wild maid by thyoi 2023-10-17T13:38:50Z ♥ 2

Just excellent. The level of polish is actually unbelievable, especially for the Compo, I'm kinda blown away. The only things I noted was that the sound effects are a bit loud, and that once the opponent's hand is down to like three cards it's very easy to see where a card gets shuffled, so you can just pick the same card over and over again once they have the death card.

I loved it, though! I'm sleepymenace on Discord as well, feel free to add me if you wanna stay in touch!

Ventory's Inn by Teist 2023-10-07T15:05:17Z ♥ 3

Very sleek, nice graphics, competently made. Not much more I can say about it, to be honest. It would've been fun with even more item variety, or more complicated requests. I enjoyed it, well done!

Dead Zone by chaoli 2023-10-07T14:36:35Z ♥ 2

Great music and sound effects! It's a pretty simple game, but those two things make it feel like so much more. I like it a lot!

Blashout by mncc8337 2023-10-07T14:29:23Z ♥ 2

Fun Vampire Survivor/Holocure clone. Didn't end up running at all, so the movement-related upgrades felt a bit wasted. Upping the pace a bit might help, feels very slow and methodical. I like it, though, well done!

Antigravity Cat Orbs by John Saba 2023-10-07T14:13:19Z ♥ 1

I feel like I've been put through a tumble dryer, in a good way. I'm honestly not sure why, but I really like this game. It's so bizarre that I can't help but be intrigued. It feels like a prototype for a weird ass minigame in an upcoming Katamari Damacy or something. Well done, I like it!

ASAP by Stevie257 2023-10-07T14:08:10Z ♥ 2

Pretty addictive, ended up playing way longer than I intended. Some of the later puzzles are pretty tricky. I like it a lot, well done!

How to Po by Decentsauce 2023-10-07T13:25:23Z ♥ 2

Feels very polished and impressive. Aiming the water buckets is tricky and the magma hitbox is ridiculously unforgiving. I liked it, though. Unforgiving but fun. Nicely done!

Squeeze & Wiggle by YogurtTheHorse 2023-10-07T13:17:26Z ♥ 2

Cute snek, 10/10.

Solid core concept done justice. Nothing feels out of place or as if it doesn't belong. Music is nice and doesn't get too repetitive, controls make sense, graphics are nice and work in service of the core gameplay. Wigglign is immersive, I really felt like a snek. I like it a lot!

Robo Rush by Ninai 2023-10-07T13:00:17Z ♥ 2

My fight or flight response kicked in. I felt physically assaulted. I was behind enemy lines. The paranoid schizophrenia started creeping in. I was hyperventilating. God cried tears of blood for my sins.

This is the game that has left the biggest impression on me so far.

ICEomation by sabasa 2023-10-07T12:54:39Z ♥ 1

Got pretty stressful, which was pretty fun. Shop seems a bit busted, though, I had like 7 fish but wasn't allowed to buy anything. A nice little proof of concept, overall, and I think with a bit of polish it could become a nice game. Well done!

Space Bar ☆ Porter q(≧▽≦q) by Kuchinashi 2023-10-07T12:38:26Z ♥ 3

Hell yeah, this is what I'm talking about! Love the way you're using the theme here, limiting something that isn't literally space.

It could use a bit of tweaking - some of the zones are very precise and you have to fiddle with the character to get in the right spot - but overall you've got a really solid concept here. I love the art and the characters. Really well done!

(As an aside - Bro using that much kaomoji in regular speech makes her come off as absolutely unhinged. This is not a complaint.)

Greedy Joey by Metsker 2023-10-07T12:24:36Z ♥ 3

The individual rounds are a little bit too long with the current enemy diversity. Having a couple more varieties would make it feel more engaging, I think. Otherwise, solid concept - having to choose between making combat easier immediately or as a reward later. Well done!

Too Many Towers! by rekate 2023-10-07T12:16:24Z ♥ 1

I found myself playing it longer than I thought I would. I did feel a bit hamstrung by the low movement speed, but the dash does make up for it. You've got a solid concept which, with a bit of polish, could turn into a pretty decent game. Well done!

The sounds are a little bit grating, though!

Threshold by Diralf 2023-10-07T12:06:25Z ♥ 1

I found myself disappointed by the lack of additional levels, and I mean that in a good way. I wanted to play more and find out how devilishly tricky it could get. You made a nice little proof of concept, and I'd love to see where you take it. Well done!

Plummy's Tummy by Little Doctor Games 2023-10-07T12:02:20Z ♥ 1

I do have a soft spot for PICO-8, so I dunno how objective I'm being here. The first level felt a little slow, but the sudden appearance of enemies (only visible as dots on the radar) was pretty effective and almost unnerving. I think it's a competently made, cute little game. Well done!

Limited Parking Space by Johnsensei 2023-10-07T11:54:37Z ♥ 3

Cute little game. I found the music and sound effects a little bit loud and not very distinct from each other, so they kind of blended together into a big mass of sound. The graphics are nice and simple, and the objective straight forward, though. I'd call this a nice little game.

I would've loved to see it get more chaotic, though. More aggressive drivers, more parking lots available but they constantly get stolen and you have to fight people over them, ongoing car chases, gang shootouts, people carrying mirrors and huge stacks of eggs across the street.

Citra's In Fact Actually 2048 by chitoyuu 2023-10-03T16:48:18Z ♥ 1

I'm legitimately annoyed that we didn't think of this ourselves, but if we're gonna get beaten on concept I'm glad it's by you. It's perfect in its simplicity. The only way it could be better is if it got even more unplayable. I want it to physically disconnect my ethernet cable. I want it to set fire to my car.

The girl is cute as fuck.

I'm sleepymenace on discord, too, feel free to add me. Maybe we could do something together next time.

Interesting game. Didn't think much of the weapon swapping until I was stuck in a corridor with a fuck ton of enemies and I ran out of ammo, suddenly those ten seconds felt very long. You did a good job creating a creepy mood, nice job!

To be brutally honest, I wasn't very impressed at first. But then I was intrigued by the presentation (purchasing the UI as upgrades.) I figured I'd just beat the dragon and that'd be it.

Wait, there's even more?

I ended up beating the entire game and I gotta say, you did pretty well! It's neat, easy to understand, and fun to keep on your second screen.

God job!

10s Bar Brawl by Cedric86 2022-10-07T17:02:55Z ♥ 3

Neat of use of 2D and 3D graphics. The colors are very eclectic and kind of hurt my eyes a little bit, but the game is fun enough! I like the concept, and with a bit of polish it could be a pretty fun party game!

Nice job!

Tenfold Rim Mining by PurpledArtFrog 2022-10-07T16:59:33Z ♥ 2

A lot to take in at first, but you've got a pretty solid game there! You've obviously put a lot of thought into it, and I think just a little bit of polish on how to introduce all the mechanics to the player will make it really great!

Good job!

Just Roll With It! by Cornflowerblue 2022-10-07T16:51:14Z ♥ 2

Great game, enjoyed it a lot! The music really adds a lot. Love the art style, got some Touhou vibes from the Eastern-style/Western-style exorcist combo. Timeline was easy to understand and experimenting with different spell combinations was fun.

All around a really enjoyable experience, GREAT job!

Pretty fun! Any puzzle game which I have to use a notepad to solve is good in my book. My only complaint is that the mouse sensitivity is very high, but I just lowered the DPI on my mouse and it was all gucci.

Nice game, good job! I liked it!

Gelato Drift by thomz12 2022-10-07T15:24:39Z ♥ 2

Slick presentation and extremely polished. Gotta say, though, the controls were pretty frustrating - my brain kept wanting to press down to go down. Took a while for me to adapt to the relative controls.

Either way, great job and fun game!

DODGE! CATCH! DESTROY! by Solah 2022-10-07T15:18:58Z ♥ 1

Really good use of the theme, nice looking graphics, fun gameplay. The only thing I can remark on is that the Dodge minigame was way more frustrating than the others, the risk/reward didn't make it feel worth dodging through them so I ended up just trying to avoid everything and hoping it would switch to Catch and not Destroy. Maybe if dodging through a ball made it disappear, like in the other minigames?

It was fun, though! Good job!

Supply & Command by Hare Software 2022-10-07T15:08:09Z ♥ 3

Excellent sound and great use of simple visuals! That autocannon sounds great, and holy shit is the special ammo beefy. Also really good voice acting, which was pleasantly surprising!

(Activating special ammo with E and getting on/off with space felt a bit confusing though, feels like it should be the other way around.)

All around an enjoyable game, great job!

Spacemine Defense by Jimbly 2022-10-07T14:46:44Z ♥ 1

Absolutely excellent! Blown away by this game, to be honest. I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of it. Simple in design, but still challenging. Great aesthetic making excellent use of the simple graphics. I was thoroughly disappointed when there were no more levels to play.

Absolutely brilliant, 10/10, probably my favorite game so far!

Keep Skating and Nobody Explodes by Jared N 2022-10-07T13:47:51Z ♥ 1

Decent game, although pretty tricky! Never managed to get very high, but it was fun. The main sprite looks really, really good, but the rest of the UI could've used a little bit more love.

Overall, though, pretty fun! Great job!

Purfect Thyming by gswong 2022-10-07T13:42:23Z ♥ 1

Cute game! Took a while to understand what to do, though. (And swiping isn't optimal with a mouse, but it wasn't too bad.)

Really cute art! I love the stirring animation! Music was also nice.

Quite a charming game, overall! Well done!

CART CRASHERS by screenshake 2022-10-07T13:35:31Z ♥ 1

Excellent game, and excellent representation of Swedish culture! (Except it should probably be HÄLL, not HËLL, but that doesn't read as well to a non-Nordic audience.)

Bunnyhopping is peak game design, literally nothing can convince me otherwise. The only way this could be better would be if you could slope surf off cars.

10/10

What a nice change of pace from other, more hectic entries! Enjoyed this one a lot, but I'm also very biased since I love strategy and puzzle games. Clean, polished presentation with nice art, and gameplay that's simple to grasp. Really well done!

Very cute game, love the TV reporter freaking out and the silly headlines! It's hard to tell exactly when to time your hits but otherwise I enjoyed it quite a lot. Gets really hectic when you're juggling multiple comets - fun!

Great job!

🌋 FlareScape by MikoziQ 2022-10-06T19:01:14Z ♥ 1

Cool game, the simple aesthetic looks really neat. Controlling the ATV is pretty tricky, and I the physics did jank out a bit and send me bouncing. It was fun, though!

I think having the solar flares be 10 seconds long makes the game feel slower than it actually is, maybe having them slightly shorter would make it flow better.

Good job, either way!

CATS AND COFFEE by Graylure 2022-10-06T18:56:11Z ♥ 1

Blown away by the art, extremely polished and impressive! The game's fun, but the art really sells it.

It was a little bit hard to distinguish what parts were interactable, even with the outline, though.

Great game, guys, really well done!

(I did encounter a bug where spam-clicking a cat dumped me back in the main menu, but I can't reproduce it.)

Cubical Mayhem by pepnou 2022-10-06T18:50:44Z ♥ 2

This is almost cheating, because I love simple (in design) little puzzle games like this! Very cute, easy to get a hang of, looks good, and fun!

I didn't feel that the flipping did that much later in the game and you ended up just waiting for the cube to flip to a position that gives you the resources you need - maybe letting the player choose which row/column rotates would make it more strategic?

Either way, loved it! Great game! (Music did get a little bit repetitive, though.)

Card Empires by SunnyRx 2022-10-06T18:29:20Z ♥ 3

Great little game! Had to restart a couple times before I realized that building a house only took one turn, and leaving the farmer on that square blocked the new farmer from being created, but once I got the hang of it I really enjoyed it!

I love these little pocket-sized strategy games, and this one it really good! I can just imagine it with more unit types, buildings, enemies, different terrain - a really, really solid foundation for a game!

Miller's Palm by kr4ft3r 2022-10-05T14:01:10Z ♥ 1

Yeah, that was real good. Feel like I can't even go into detail without spoiling something, but I think when I finally solved it, I did it exactly the way you intended. Masterful clue placement, straight up impressed. Incredibly well done!

Homunculus Heist by Ry-for 2022-10-05T13:42:29Z ♥ 3

Spooky! Love the aesthetic, controls feel really fluid and nice, the random teleportation was jarring and disorientating in a good way.

Overall a very moody, claustrophobic and unsettling experience. I liked it a lot, good job guys!

Witchy Sketchy Alchemy by Bruyère Alice 2022-10-05T13:38:38Z ♥ 2

Art, music, gameplay - all absolutely excellent! In a game like that even tiny things stand out, so forgive me for being nitpicky.

Revealing the intro text letter by letter felt a bit slow, almost frustrating. Just speeding it up a bit, or revealing it line by line would probably flow better.

It's pretty easy to accidentally touch the mortar and pestle while trying to drag the leftmost ingredients directly to the cauldron, which was a bit frustrating.

(And I can't help but think that maybe "Sketchy Witchy" would sound better than "Witchy Sketchy"?)

Love the music, probably the best background loop I've heard so far this jam! The art style is fantastic, really cute and characterful. Gameplay is fast paced and fun and with four lives the time limit never feels unfair or frustrating. Very cute witch!

Overall, I loved it. Very impressive, great job!

CHAOS CONDUCTOR by Cope 2022-10-05T13:23:41Z ♥ 1

Cool game with a really neat aesthetic! Got 6365 feet and 440 kills on my best attempt.

It does gets a little bit slow once you realize that the enemies hitting the train don't actually do anything, and neither do the bats as long as you don't jump, so you really only have to stand by the button and prioritize the foot soldiers gunning for you.

Cool music, though, I like how the train honk is incorporated as an instrument!

Overall very enjoyable, and it's easy to see how the concept can be expanded (Co-op, having to repair the train, more weapon and enemy types.) into a really good game! Solid foundation!

Red and Black's Discommunicative Communication by chitoyuu 2022-10-04T20:43:31Z ♥ 1

Man, what a promising game. The gameplay itself is alright, a fun little card matching game, but the presentation is really good. It definitely suffers from the lack of a running dialogue as the game goes on, which would have made it great!

Love the art - obviously influenced by Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryokou which is always nice. Would've loved to get to know the characters better!

Overall I enjoyed the game a lot, and I can easily imagine a more polished version that's a real banger! Great job!

Timebound by Ategon 2022-10-04T20:32:48Z ♥ 6

Really cool game! I hope you'll forgive me for nitpicking here, but it's so close to being really great that even small things stand out.

Discovering the mechanics on my own was a little rough, but only because the explanatory text is rather subtle. I didn't see the "E" in the second level for the first couple loops, for example, and thought that I just had to shoot the switch.

Puzzle design is really good. They're the kind of "What the hell is this? Wait... Oh, I see!" puzzles which I enjoy a lot. Once you grasp the situation it's all about execution. Very satisfying to solve.

The graphics could've used just one more pass to make sure everything reads well. The cube blended in with the pressure plate so well that I just thought that's the plate looked like that when activated.

And I'm not sure if the audio is actually glitching out, or if it's an intentional stylistic choice. If it is, I think you went a little bit too heavy, the glitching isn't "melodic" or "rhythmic" enough so I thought my audio drivers were acting up for a second.

Overall, even though I sound really critical, I thoroughly enjoyed your game! I liked it a whole lot! Great job!

Cute, simple game with a solid core loop! I would've loved to see even bigger and faster waves of enemies as time goes on, though, since the challenge was more or less gone already when I had both gun and coil at level 2. Music got a little bit repetitive, but not enough that it was annoying.

Really nice game overall, I love the little dog!

Neat little game! I haven't tried out the co-op mode, but in single player I felt the enemies might be a bit too easy to stunlock which made the game less challenging.

Nice job!

Lab Slime by Cheville 2022-10-04T14:24:35Z ♥ 3

Simple, brutal, and unforgiving, I love it. Made it to level 15 before I had to go get my laundry, will definitely give it more attempts. Those arrow-to-circle teleport tiles are devilish.

As others have already mentioned, the camera movement is really abrupt. I can feel my eyes straining if I move too quickly. Just a very slight smoothing would make it feel a lot better, I think.

Great game, guys, really fun!
