LD21 — Escape

Escausage by jplur 2011-08-22T22:09:00

Funny, but overall just ended up being a mashing of the up and to the right keys. The engine also seemed like it was quite buggy.

Escape Cod by Tom 7 2011-08-24T06:21:00

I loved the music!!!

Bounce-onium! by McFunkypants 2011-08-23T08:49:00

Love the idea, but it was kind of boring. Would also be easier if the bouncing didn't have so much delay sometimes...

Anthony's Psyche: Escape by Martoon 2011-08-23T02:26:00

I liked the idea, the concept was interesting, but it got boring pretty fast. The music was nice, but that got old fast as well.

Right 31 by Kouta 2011-08-23T08:41:00

Awesome community involvement, but try to not be at your grandmas next time. ;)

Escape in 60 seconds by Gornova 2011-08-23T02:20:00

Kind of bland, the sound got annoying. The movement scheme was also annoying.

Astar by intmain 2011-08-23T21:50:00

Fun game, lovely music, fantastic and innovative concept, and challenging to boot! More community involvement would've been nice though.

The Villainous Villa by EricTheCoolDude 2011-08-23T02:37:00

That was fun! Zany!

Black Hole by Bloodyaugust 2011-08-22T03:27:00

DON'T DOWNLOAD YET! THIS SUBMISSION WAS SCREWED UP BY THE SYSTEM.
I'll post when it's corrected.

Black Hole by Bloodyaugust 2011-08-22T22:52:00

Download away! :D

Black Hole by Bloodyaugust 2011-08-23T04:31:00

I'm glad you liked that, it was my main concept from the get go. And yes, I'm getting ready to write a post-mortem actually, with all the things I've done since the compo ended and the things that I plan to do.
Also: I agree completely with your assessment of the difficulty. I ended up half-implementing a scaling difficulty system, but trashed later on. It is kind of telling that I have yet to manage to beat my own game...

As for the graphics, the ship was a definite brain-fart. The enemy ships were supposed to be akin to Borg, I called them Drones.

Upgrades and power-ups are also in the works.

Black Hole by Bloodyaugust 2011-08-24T05:24:00

Click file, then download. It makes everything dl at one time.

Black Hole by Bloodyaugust 2011-08-24T05:30:00

However, I did add a mediafire upload. :D

Black Hole by Bloodyaugust 2011-08-25T14:38:00

That's very unfortunate! :( I'm working on a port to Unity, so I'll let you know when that happens.

Black Hole by Bloodyaugust 2011-08-31T21:48:00

This game actually requires hi-def textures now, and I'm not sure I can edit this version any more...

Prelude of the Chambered by Notch 2011-08-23T08:50:00

It was well done, just not a whole lot of fun.

Red Rover by d_m 2011-08-22T22:39:00

Windows please. :D

Blockhead Can't Escape by Bleck 2011-08-23T03:47:00

More levels! And a timelapse/post mortem would be nice.

FuhFuhFire! by Radiatoryang 2011-08-22T22:25:00

Fun, but the audio made it INCREDIBLY annoying.

Escape Velocity by Jedi 2011-08-23T18:13:00

The idea is fun, but the implementation is bad. Keep working on it! Hint: make it slower, in general.

Escape from Space Cannibal by ondrew 2011-08-22T19:01:00

I would've liked to have seen the interaction with the Kinect. And while I understand you didn't have time to implement any gameplay or anything, I still have to rate you low in those areas. Very innovative though!

Maze Escape by glcoder 2011-08-23T02:30:00

This game was very fun, quick and dirty, the controls were sometimes lacking especially going around corners... I got stuck ALOT. XD

(Escape from) The Temple of Nepenthe by Ashley Coulter 2011-08-22T22:41:00

Okay. Way too much text though. Very nice looking!

Gather 10 keys to escape by madflame991 2011-08-22T22:22:00

Very repetitive, no sound, and I didn't understand the concept.

Water Escape Game by DkTyph 2011-08-24T04:41:00

Doesn't work.

Escape from the Depths by vipah 2011-08-22T22:38:00

It was ok. Very simple, no bugs.

Death Boulder Jones by demonpants 2011-08-22T22:17:00

Fantastic game! I need checkpoints though... XD
I COULD NOT BEAT IT!!! lol very nice! Very funny, good sfx and music, hilarious concept, and great gfx for 14 hours work.

Escape from Monster City by KevinWorkman 2011-08-23T03:01:00

This game was AWESOME!!!! I absolutely loved it!!! I played it for forty five minutes and still haven't beaten it... XD
Then I showed it to my 60+ year old great aunt, and she played for half an hour, then my brother, etc... this is my favorite so far! Great little game! With some sound and music, would be perfect. :)

Escape from Monster City by KevinWorkman 2011-08-23T03:56:00

In all honesty, this game is ridiculously fun! I can't stop playing it! What are your post-mortem plans for it?

Escape from Monster City by KevinWorkman 2011-08-23T08:21:00

Have you gotten into it? Beaten it? It rox! XD

Defenses by atlantian 2011-08-22T23:11:00

Okay for a first try. Get involved in the community! And please, sound makes a game so much better.

Duke Ludum Forever by Apogee 2011-08-22T22:39:00

Huh? XD

Lost World Lucy by Zaron 2011-08-22T22:35:00

Fun fun! Very stable and well polished. Good audio too.

Escape From Zoo by REIN1 2011-08-22T22:40:00

Not very fun, but it looks nice.

=-=Solar Escape=-= by Lenthan 2011-08-22T18:54:00

Fun game! I'm reasonably certain it's impossible to win though...

Escape(ism) by benedict 2011-08-22T23:22:00

I have no idea why, but it was actually okay! XD

LD22 — Alone

Last breath by deepnight 2011-12-24T00:41:00

SO. HARD.

3 Missing, 4am by Sophie Houlden 2011-12-24T10:29:00

Was a total grindfest of walking to find the batteries. Great mood up to that point, though.

Not Quite Alone by Bloodyaugust 2011-12-19T06:36:00

Did you read the README? Or the description here? Just press Q on an open space. :)
And thanks!

Not Quite Alone by Bloodyaugust 2011-12-21T00:38:00

@FrankieSmileShadow: I like to write my backstory first, it's just the first step in my creative process. It *was* going to show through quite a bit more, but like my postmortem says, I just didn't have the time.
@Dietrich Epp: Indeed they are... and there really isn't much strategy or variation to the gameplay to make it interesting. The final release will have a "next wave" key. And thanks for reading the postmortem, I'm glad you enjoyed it!

BraveWorker by RawBits 2012-01-10T00:36:00

Just kind of bland. :/

Erasum by Wompus 2012-01-10T00:44:00

DIE CATS!

LD23 — Tiny World

Deity by Blake 2012-04-26T06:40:00

Excellent game! Extremely well executed idea, and well polished to boot. I couldn't pass level 10...

Nook by PoV 2012-04-24T01:13:00

This was a fun game! I'm going to have to check out Emscripten now. Nice concept!

LD24 — Evolution

Strike of Rage ! by deepnight 2012-08-27T06:06:00

Reaaaaallly hard... But fantastic, and great artwork!

Upsurge by Bloodyaugust 2012-08-31T04:06:00

Thank you guys all so much for playing this! As you can tell, much of the functionality is... well... unfunctional. XD
The main difference between this TD and others is that:
A: It's terrible
B: It was developed in about 30 hours

LD25 — You are the Villain

You Are The Virus by Jogy34 2012-12-18T18:10:00

I did manage to make it past the second level, it just took a lot of time repeatedly going back and forht for over 7 minutes haha. But superb game very nice build.

Crustacean Chaos by Komradus 2012-12-21T08:52:00

Just link using normal http protocol, not https. You'll do fine that way. :)

Mothership: The Sequel by youdonotexist 2012-12-19T17:41:00

Nicely done! The tablet port is especially awesome. Plus, you used my name in your game, so that was hawt.
@Blob: DAMN YOU FIRST, I'LL KILL YOU AGAIN.

Mothership: The Sequel by youdonotexist 2012-12-21T08:50:00

You put me in it, so big plus there. It was even more amazing on the tablet!

You are the Asteroid! by rainblade studios 2012-12-22T06:05:00

The controls were beyond confusing, I had no idea where I was or my purpose, and even once I figured out the controls it was difficult to determine exactly how the game worked. Overall very confusing experience.

Atomic Creep Spawner!! by deepnight 2012-12-19T04:37:00

WOW.

Lucifer's Stand by Bloodyaugust 2012-12-18T05:38:00

It should be fine now. :)

Lucifer's Stand by Bloodyaugust 2012-12-18T19:43:00

@Naxum: I'm glad there are people who appreciate what a Bullet Hell game is all about! :D Definitely understanding that the contrast between the demons and the background is not nearly high enough.
@Manest: The load screen describes it. It really is as simple as "press these buttons here, win". :)

Lucifer's Stand by Bloodyaugust 2012-12-21T08:58:00

@blob: Is that an actual thing?

From The Black by arkeus 2012-12-18T01:00:00

Wow. Extremely well polished for 48 hours!

In Digito by jonnopon3000 2012-12-17T20:33:00

Dude, well freaking done! :D
The concept is well realized, butt unfortunately the performance is slightly under where it needs to be, and the game is ridiculously hard.

You Villain by CNIAngel 2012-12-17T22:07:00

Short, filled with grammatical errors, not much detail to set it apart. Would've liked to see more quality out of a text-based 48 hour game.

Sheepuree by Shubi 2012-12-18T08:22:00

Couldn't figure out the point.

LD27 — 10 Seconds

Kidnap Commander by youdonotexist 2013-08-27T01:05:00

This entry is so awesome, it made my pet wolf ejaculate a lightning bolt.

Every 10 Seconds a Window Washer Falls to his Death by dom2d 2013-08-27T01:46:00

Wow. This entry is just incredible.... Ludum Dare 10/10!

BattleFleet by NotANumber 2013-08-26T20:11:00

Wow, this is pretty well done! I enjoyed it, a good concept at its core for sure. And of course, well done on making it an HTML5 game. :)

Rogue Descent by jonnopon3000 2013-08-27T01:23:00

You should put some more instruction as to what is money, what to shoot, and how to move to the next level. :)

Nice job!

GunJoust by Vic 2013-08-26T20:36:00

Fun game, but this should probably be a Jam entry due to the nature of the sound assets. Mouse lock would also help the immersion of the experience quite a bit, it would seem. Nice job!

A DEUS by tamat 2013-08-26T18:20:00

This looks fantastic, and I love that you did it in JS/WebGL. The mechanics could use some work, though. The ship is quite difficult to control: he should react more snappily to input, and there should probably be more "friction".

LD28 — You Only Get One

Little Spartan by Bloodyaugust 2013-12-17T16:06:00

Thank you for pointing that out, I had forgotten the "http://"... X_X

Little Spartan by Bloodyaugust 2013-12-17T18:19:00

Thanks Steve, I'll give that a look. What browser did you use?

Hyper/Blink by jonnopon3000 2013-12-16T01:41:00

Dude. Excellent once again! :D
High score: 3020

LD31 — Entire Game on One Screen

PhotoBound by PIXEL^3 2014-12-14T03:04:00

Awesome game all around. :D

Insecticide by Nate Kling 2014-12-14T03:27:00

Really great game! The only suggestion is that you might consider ending the planning phase once both players have used all their energy.

Cauldron Twins by drilltail 2014-12-14T03:50:00

Good game! Will play the after LD version later, hopefully the controls have improved.

Lone Wolf by KeinBaum 2014-12-14T01:41:00

Felt like this entry could have been a little more engaging, especially considering the Jam status. It was entertaining and simple, but the mechanics were not immediately obvious. Perhaps an instruction screen wouldn't be amiss. Overall, a great entry that has quite a bit of potential, especially with more dynamic AI and some balancing.

Shadow of the Shotgun by Peni6 2014-12-14T01:53:00

Scrolling should center on your guy, reloading should be automatic at end of clip. Overall, a good entry. Maybe a less annoying sound for the drone mode.

Snowman Simulator by insane66 2014-12-14T02:36:00

Nice start of a game. Needs a point, though. Well done, nice first entry!

Bah! Humbug! by Bloodyaugust 2014-12-13T03:07:00

Link should now be the fixed! Sorry for the wait. :(

Bloody Mess by karol 2014-12-15T20:56:00

Great game, I very much enjoyed creating a bloody mess. :D Some sort of indication of remaining clip would be nice.

HYPERPLASM by ciaodavinci 2014-12-14T02:28:00

Excellent entry! Maybe add some powerups, and make bullets collide with bullets. Favorite so far!

LD32 — An Unconventional Weapon

Missile War by Bloodyaugust 2015-04-20T17:44:00

It's just a placeholder entry for now. Jam submission. Won't be on the server until... 7 hours from time of this posting.

Missile War by Bloodyaugust 2015-04-21T17:20:00

As the note in the description says, the game did not get finished during the jam time to the point of being playable. Play it if you like as we continue to update it, but we disabled voting in all categories on it.

LD33 — You are the Monster

D÷V÷S÷ON by pinkmonkeyhead 2015-08-25T07:53:00

Wow, this was an interesting one for sure. The base mechanic of eat/divide was used really well here to produce something that felt like more than it was, in that I spent a good 15 minutes playing a game that didn't change the whole time. It was gorgeous, the music was very serene and well done, and I liked the textures of the balls. My only gripes are that I couldn't tell when I could divide, I couldn't figure out why one would want to go outside the base, and I lost numerous balls to getting stuck in the terrain. Overall though, a really great entry.

Monster Living in A Cave Terrorizes Nearby Village! by Unentokku 2015-08-26T07:14:00

I liked it. Great strategic entry.

Horrifying Human Hunter by Moist 2015-08-25T03:25:00

This was a great action arcade entry! I loved how tight the controls felt, and really enjoyed that I felt... stealthy. Like a real monster of the night, but with a big fat smile on my face! :D Had the makings of a great moody entry, but alas, no music.

Horrifying Human Hunter by Moist 2015-08-25T04:57:00

Foul Monster by BPO_Jeff 2015-08-26T06:14:00

Great entry!

Hydrated by TnT 2015-08-25T05:07:00

A good start on a game, for sure. It didn't seem like there was any pressure though, just grow a hundred heads and hold space. Definitely something that could be taken further!

Dungeon Guard by Techblogogy 2015-08-25T07:47:00

I had a bit of trouble with this one... there's a typo in the intro screen, which it took a second to get rid of. The humans don't seem to react to my bat, other than moving faster towards the treasure. Maybe add in a noise when they're hit so you can tell when you're making contact? The music and graphics were impressive though, and the idea was solid.

Gojira-Chan no Densetsu by Rongefilet 2015-08-25T03:46:00

I liked the graphics quite a bit, but more levels and some enemies would have made it much better. I'd also like to see the controls become a bit tighter, especially the jumps. It felt very airy.

Moon Base Shootout by Unept 2015-08-25T05:15:00

Poor little Skibbles! This was a really great puzzle/action game! The window mechanic was subtle, and I really enjoyed that in most cases you didn't just have to shoot all the enemies. Moar levels please!

Monstering Monsters by NickMakesGames 2015-08-26T05:27:00

Really great entry. I loved the interpretation on the theme. More levels, slower progression, and maybe different types of items could make it sellable.

Passengers by nerial 2015-08-25T19:02:00

Damn. That was dark. How many people did I lose on those shitty boats to fucking bandits? @[email protected]
Well done.

Soup by JoshDBB 2015-08-25T03:01:00

This was a great demo of some serious shader-writing capabilities! I'm not sure I'd consider it a game so much as a... relaxing interactive wallpaper, but whatever it was, I really enjoyed it. I'd love to get a look at the shader code... Y U NO SOURCE?!

The Devil's Daughter by SinclairStrange 2015-08-25T02:20:00

Amebiasis by theshadowteam 2015-08-25T07:33:00

I enjoyed the basic mechanic. The difficulty also scaled really well, with the different types of terrain. However, the music quickly became grating... Add an option to mute it next time please. :)

You are the Minotaur by futom 2015-08-26T06:26:00

I liked it much!

Rampage Monster by ekajjake 2015-08-25T05:02:00

A fun click-festy type game. I really enjoyed how simple it was. You nailed your concept on the head, for sure. I would've liked to have heard more diversity in the music, but a great entry all around!

Massacre Monday by wg_phancock 2015-08-26T06:51:00

Great entry, go play it! :D

All That Glitters by cgmorton 2015-08-25T07:39:00

Love the concept and I think it was pretty well executed. I didn't run into any bugs myself. The limited vision with the lid closed was really suspenseful. Om nom nom.

Vermy The Vomiting Zombie by Gray Sullivan 2015-08-25T04:06:00

It has the beginnings of a good game. You have a good idea, solid gfx, sfx, and a good start on music. It felt like there wasn't really much to it though. Different enemies, more than one "hit" sprite, animation on the vomit, and better/more powerful zombie would be nice to see.

Tentacles by crafteverywhere 2015-08-27T21:33:00

The game was an interesting concept at its heart, but the balance definitely needed work. The early game was good, but I was getting upgrades too often: it felt distracting to have to open the upgrade window every 3 seconds. Then, seemingly all of a sudden, everything was way too tough for me to kill and I was maxed out on upgrades. If you can get the balance figured out, I think you'll have a much better game. :)

Goblins! by Phoenix Smith 2015-08-25T03:30:00

We need a desktop or webgl version!

Sly Slime - Revenge On All Players by reckhou 2015-08-25T07:38:00

It's obvious that a lot of work went into this one. There's a level of visual polish here you don't usually see in an LDJAM entry. However, I felt like the the crazy amount of bloom and other odd lighting tricks made it hard to play, partially because I couldn't see what was happening, and partially because it was so distracting from what I was doing. A good entry overall, but maybe tone down the effects a bit.

You Are The (Loch Ness) Monster! by architect404 2015-08-26T05:06:00

We liked the graphics, they were awfully cute. :D BUT, mashing A was a total pain in the ass, you should look into using the joystick for movement, at least underwater. Maybe a dive and surface button so you keep the snappy avoid movements? :D Good entry. :)

Wild Flirting by bloomingbuds 2015-08-26T05:54:00

Wow. We were in stitches over and over again. :D Really great! I'd love to see it as a mobile app.

Fireapocalypseeverseen!!! by DAT.NOT.MY.GAME! 2015-08-25T08:00:00

Wow. Fantastic entry. The concept, graphics, sfx, and music were all seemingly well thought out and executed. I was confused initially, but once I got past the *weird* controls and figured out how to stay on the platform, that became clear. The only things keeping this from a 5 star rating overall are the totally wacky and unfortunately clunky feeling movement mechanics, and the fact that I had no idea how long my beast mode fire kill everything buff lasted. Really great job!

Motherflipin' T-Rex! by mantis 2015-08-25T04:00:00

That was a great romp. :D The animation was smooth, the sounds were fantastic, and it did what I imagine you wanted it to: made me feel like a badass T-Rex tearing shit up. :D Side note: I scored ~113k.

Vines of Darkness by BMacIntosh 2015-12-15T08:08:00

Fantastic entry! The idea was a really good one, and there were only a few factors that I felt detracted from the execution. The pacing was awfully slow, and the AI was dumb to downright broken at times, waiting on top of the house with the "returning with resources" icon for at times a full minute. Road placement was similarly confusing, and I was never quite sure what it did.

The music was well put together, and beautifully matched the mood. I felt like an explorer, trying to ensure the survival of his people. However, once I had all 3 resources, I lost interest fairly quickly, being that there was nothing pushing me to continue the quest.

Overall though, nicely done, and an impressive amount of work for 49 hours!

Pyramid Scheme by LandoSystems 2015-12-15T08:23:00

Loved the dad jokes. I was frantically trying to keep workers motivated and pharaoh appeased the whole time, didn't even realize ten minutes had passed. Overall, a great entry with 0 bugs. A Unicorn among jam entries, for sure!

Trump Tower by Test User 2015-12-15T09:07:00

It might have been funny or clever, but there was none of that. I couldn't figure out how to get any of the upgrades or abilities to work. Perhaps a more clear explanation, some indication of currency might help?

OrbiHop by TnT 2015-12-16T03:55:00

Great orbital mechanics game! I really enjoyed all the twists, and the puzzles graduated in difficulty at a nice pace. Also, I love to see games allow for player-created content from the get-go. Great entry!

Little Big Plant by Bmxchamp4 2015-12-15T08:59:00

Fun game, would have liked to see a score mechanic! The art wasn't bad, and if it was yours, you should consider making it available as a rating category.

Slime Smasher by Anachron 2015-12-16T01:12:00

Fucking hilarious. Nicely done on the music. Maybe make it harder, with more levels?

Growing trough the rocks by TheFumelgo 2015-12-15T08:50:00

Nice pictures. Overall, it's great for a first entry to have a complete experience! Being able to prune back feature creep and focus on a playable game is one of the hardest parts of these jams. Keep doing it!

grow by shaulor 2015-12-16T02:18:00

Hi, nice to meet you, I'm your target market. Seriously, I spent an uncomfortable amount of time on this game. Well done. I wish the beginning wasn't so... click-spammy, but otherwise, this has the makings for a great game, perhaps with some enemies and larger text. ;) For an LD entry though, this was fantastic!

Grow Pandora by Shivur 2015-12-16T02:32:00

Sorry, just not a huge fan of click spam games. I also didn't really see the "Growing" theme here. Well executed though, so a good jam entry.

Workshop Panic by Bloodyaugust 2015-12-15T08:53:00

@Binary Gambit and @Mr_Fudd, thanks very much for reporting those issues. I'll get to work on fixing them. And thank you all so much for taking the time to play, rate, and give feedback! Happy holidays to you all.

Workshop Panic by Bloodyaugust 2015-12-16T05:10:00

@GwakamoleStudio you're not missing anything. Welcome to 48 hours of game dev. ;)

Workshop Panic by Bloodyaugust 2015-12-16T19:06:00

@goodbadokay are you using desktop or webplayer for OS X? Some players have had issues with the web player not correctly focusing.

Space Mitosis by thelasthour 2015-12-15T08:31:00

I was... utterly confused about what I was doing. Why was the camera zooming out while I didn't move? What were the resources I collected doing, and why didn't any actually get to my blob after the first wave? Just... confused. Definitely two button control, but I had no idea of the point or my goal. Maybe a more thorough explanation?

Rockets Hate the Moon by nodens 2015-12-16T03:09:00

Fun concept, but it needed to last much longer. This could be successful with more content and length.

It's Something by RougeRogue 2015-12-15T08:37:00

I liked the music, but it seems like the entry perhaps has issues. The game ran, and well, but the balls seemed not to align with the beat (playing on my beastly gaming machine, if it can't stay in sync, I'm not sure what could). Restarting the stage didn't seem to work either.

With some polish, I could see this doing well. A rhythm game is an ambitious entry either way, and to have something even this functional is impressive. Well done.

It's Something by RougeRogue 2015-12-16T17:59:00

@RogueRogue make sure you edit the description, if you do solve those issues coming back to it. I'd love to try it again!

Tri-Fission by Reisen 2015-12-15T08:42:00

Wow, that's a nicely refreshing take on the bullet hell genre. I really enjoyed it! Ridiculously hard, as it well should be. I hope you take this concept further after the jam!

AquAlien by Lucho9 2015-12-16T03:19:00

Missing 'Centro.bmp'. Please make sure to include all required files in the download, and preferably wrap it all up in .zip format.

HeXor by Sosolol261 2015-12-15T07:31:00

I unfortunately cannot play the game, as after numerous tries, the little blue bar never progresses, and so I get no ticks. I tried spacebar, tried speeding and slowing the game. Please fix, I'd love to try it!

The Village by adaFish 2015-12-19T06:06:00

Funny, and well put together! I was confused about how to interact at first, but that's because I'm apparently shit at reading directions. xD

The movement and camera zooming did make things seem like they played a bit slow, but overall this was a fantastic entry. Well done!

Botany by Steven Miller 2015-12-16T00:40:00

Wow, fantastic job. The concept was pretty unique, the puns were on point, and the gameplay was smooth and interesting. Nice entry!

SPACE DILEMMA by argowen 2015-12-16T02:24:00

As a first Jam entry, well done and welcome! :D

The game was extremely difficult, due to the enemy ships tailing you so close and being nearly as fast. Turning to shoot them was nigh on impossible. The other, more minor complaint, is the audio. Very repetitive and in your face, with no way to mute it. Otherwise, nicely done!

Tug-o-War by hyperscope 2015-12-16T01:13:00

Need a WebGL export edition!

Dino-Chicken by SubmersivoGS 2015-12-16T03:20:00

Embed is broken, and the gamejolt page is still set to "In Development", so this game is currently unplayable. Please fix!

AutoJumper by nisio 2015-12-16T03:24:00

Nice little runner game. It would've been good to see distance run, and an "end-game" screen. I thought it was hilarious when I finally got hit at high speed and flew away.

Speed Sid by tribrain 2015-12-16T03:33:00

A couple things first:
a) The "Web" option is generally used for "Web" games, rename the option to be "Website" if you're directing people to your (downloadable) game's site.
b) In order to get more ratings, you need to play and rate others games!

With that said, the art was wonderful, and overall this was a good entry. I'd like to see more responsive controls, especially for the down control. Also, the intro was a bit obnoxiously long, and with no way to skip to the next frame, this made me sad.

Tinder for Dinosaurs by marveus 2015-12-16T03:17:00

Windows download does not link to the public shared file. Please check the file permissions in Dropbox, and make sure that: a) everyone with the link can see the file and b) you've copied the public share link.

JumpAway by Andre-606 2015-12-16T03:16:00

It didn't really feel like this concept, which was interesting, could be well executed with two buttons without some further tweaks. I couldn't control how I rotated, that was pretty much up to the terrain and chance. There also didn't seem to be any advantage to holding down to jump higher, except that in just the right situation it prevented me from tipping over.

All in all, with some work, this could be fun to play. The graphics looked excellent.

Sector5-0 by curtamyth 2015-12-15T07:39:00

Great entry! I wish it had picked up a bit faster, and that it was easier to maintain weapon charge. Perhaps some sort of mechanic that allows you to exchange being stationary, or shields? Either way, I enjoyed playing it.

Light Gates by Korhain 2015-12-16T04:03:00

A good concept, but it was quite slow and crowded. I feel like this game would lend itself to finesse, but that doesn't show through here.

Abyssal Zone by Leddev 2015-12-15T07:19:00

Can't play without Linux, Win, or Web. Please port and upload for more platforms!

A Shot in the Dark by thecatspajamas 2015-12-15T07:18:00

Sorry, but I'm not going to run an installer for an LDJAM game. Please zip the game and distribute that way. :)

Build Town by TeamMJZ 2015-12-15T07:16:00

There were a number of bugs that made this city-builder a little frustrating to play, but overall it's quite impressive to come so far in 72 hours in a 3D city-building environment. Between AI, modeling, art, and sound, this is a great entry.

I had issues placing houses because they collided with farms, despite being quite far away. Every other person I spawned then assigned glitched out and ran sideways out of my view. The graphic for farms was for some reason a fireplace, which was actually a fireplace in the tutorial.

I hope that helps to debug some of those issues. I'd have also loved to have the camera move faster and zoom out further.

LD38 — A Small World

Thruster Pack by jonnopon 2017-04-25T06:21:07Z

It was rough, you sonofabitch, but I beat it. Every time I saw "Again but with coins pls" I *felt* your animosity seeping thru the internet. xD

Feather Fighter by Ellian 2017-05-19T01:56:05Z

Tight art and sound design, but the basic platformer gameplay just kind of felt... lacking, maybe slow. It also felt like the best strategy was to spam jump/shoot. Overall though, impressive entry!

Murder Mitosis by _for_science 2017-05-19T02:26:27Z

Very well themed, art execution was ace. Fun concept too, if not a little difficult to grok due to ambiguous and greyscale UI.

Rise of the Termites by Togis 2017-05-19T02:53:10Z

I really enjoyed where this is headed! The programmer art is adorable, and with some more content, and polish on the player interactions, this could be a great idler game.

Slightly Angry Max by Takusan 2017-05-19T02:32:11Z

I really enjoyed what there was to play, and just found myself wanting more diverse gameplay. Great entry!

Something Something by sgstair 2017-05-19T02:08:23Z

I like what I'm seeing so far. Please continue work on this, there's never enough RTS in my life!

Daily Routine: the smallest worlds are the ones we get stuck in by Samurai Spark 2017-05-19T01:50:38Z

Perhaps to make the game a little more difficult to beat, the "clicker" aspect could use more interactivity, and the exponential growth of numbers common in that genre. I have a feeling it would play nicely with your message as well. Good entry!

LD42 — Running out of space

Snake Mango by Kappa.B 2018-08-15T09:32:57Z

Very pleasant music, simple and coherent visuals, and a lot of minor juicing of various gameplay and UI elements make for a very good entry here. I'm also impressed that you managed to get a high-score board up and running as well! I'm curious to know if you wrote and hosted this implementation yourself as part of the compo (not that it matters in terms of the rules, just curiosity).

The only thing I didn't like was that the game didn't include support for my aspect ratio(21:9 @ 3440x1440), so I missed out on some UI when fullscreen.

Overall, an extremely solid entry, especially considering you did it in 12 hours!

As an aside, please don't enable the donation request on itch for LD games. It feels cheap to ask for money for participating in LD, and keeps me from that sweet sweet download button for just a bit longer.

PPS: Your itch page URL itself makes this game worthy of the humor category. Kappa, bitch!

Outrunning Space! by drludos 2018-08-14T23:39:44Z

Very fun idea! Definitely the most innovative entry I've seen in a long time. I really enjoyed seeing this!

As a fellow web dev, perhaps check out [replaceState](https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/History_API#The_replaceState(%29_method) as an alternative method of changing the URL, to do so in such a way that doesn't kill my browser history. Perhaps in the mean time, you could add a warning to run in Incognito mode?

Also, did anyone else's eyes get severely fucked from playing this for a while? Looking away from the URL bar induced a weird double blue patch and tiny Guitar-Hero effect for me.

Slime Sumo by bloodyaugust 2018-08-15T08:44:42Z

@triplefox Those slimes are sneaky bastards! Glad you enjoyed the experience on a trackpad. Worked great on my Macbook as well, though my... less technically inclined mother did struggle, so I had to break out the mouse. I definitely agree with you re: difficulty in strategy due to the movement implementation. I didn't have the time to fine-tune this system, unfortunately.

@cranestyle Interesting note on the dragging movement response. Was this perhaps in early waves, or when you were in contact with slimes?

@kappa-b Not being overly annoying is a definite win in my book as well. I _sooooo_ wanted to implement animations for the lava, but unfortunately I used nearly 6 hours implementing even this terrible tileset, due to switching from a library to the new Unity native solution, and generally being inexperienced in their creation. I wholeheartedly agree that the lava needed some love. Re: grinding early levels, I hope to solve this with some "configurability" to your build per run, so that the early levels are more important in terms of setting yourself up for the later waves. I'd rather make the whole game matter than skip chunks of it by introducing checkpoints.

@jelbre This is definitely something I should have prioritized. Some of the juice could definitely have been skipped in favor of better player feedback. Next time!

@marcel-egle Thank you! I was also particularly happy with the camera zoom effect. I hoped to be able to take it a few steps further with some shader magic and better relative camera motion to dire straits, but I'm glad it was effective. I'll definitely look at a difficulty slider in any post-jam version.

@yamiog As I said to marcel, I definitely think it could benefit from the ability to "choose-your-own" difficulty. Double noted!

Thank you all so much for your feedback, and for taking the time to play my entry. Much love! :hearts:

Slime Sumo by bloodyaugust 2018-08-18T01:10:57Z

@bigjigglyproductions I'm glad you appreciate that there was no beating around the bush... I hate doing UI work in compo mode.

@gus-the-shark The player's power does scale with the waves, but I did originally intend to have a more player-driven mechanism(powerups or something similar) to drive that, but didn't have the time. I agree that it would've been better. As for music... I definitely need to work on my skills in that area.

Thanks for both your feedback!

Slime Sumo by bloodyaugust 2018-08-19T00:05:38Z

@darkguardsman Was the camera zoom/shake not enough feedback to indicate damage? I did want to tweak the screen with a "damage" flash of red shader, but ran out of time. But no, there is no real goal outside making it as many waves deep as you can. A kill counter would've been nice for sure, but I only had time to make the "Wave X Completed" text. Thanks for your feedback!

Super Crate Hoarder by neipo13 2018-08-13T19:02:27Z

A well-executed clone! The controls are tight, I felt like it was my own suck at platformers that was the issue in not being able to get past level ten, as opposed to the mechanics of the game. Good entry!

Magic Cam by Marcel Egle 2018-08-15T08:54:52Z

Great interpretation of the theme here! I wish that I could control my picture slot with keys, though, as I tended to always over-scroll in the middle of being mobbed by enemies. I also ran into a bug a few times where I couldn't capture the crystal with my last slot. Seriously though, generally good execution on a fun concept made this a very nice entry.

Magic Cam by Marcel Egle 2018-08-15T10:10:17Z

@marcel-egle It definitely didn't have text on it, but the crystal was smack dab in the middle of the frame, soooo... I feel you on poor decision making while sleep-deprived jamming tho. It's a thing.

Into Asteroid Belt by Jakub Kazimierski 2018-08-13T19:21:21Z

Well, you really meta-themed here! But seriously, while I understand the desire to stay true to the gameboy resolution, _please_ allow users to change the screen size. Especially on my HDPI screen, this window is sooooo ridiculously small. I could hardly see what I was doing! Otherwise, a nice take on a classic formula. Would have loved to see more in gameplay diversifiers, and perhaps some audio. Nice entry.

Slime Exterminators : running out of space to walk by DatYak 2018-08-13T18:47:00Z

Scored just over 3k! I can definitely agree with the other feedback here: this is fun and quick, with good visual design(but please add a line indicating where you're shooting). Also fun to see another slime-based game.

Overload by ProgrammingDimension 2018-08-13T19:09:32Z

Like others have mentioned, the UI was a real sticking point for me. It was confusing, and generally had responsiveness issues. For a strategy oriented game, this is a real killer. With some work to give the player a better understanding of what they should be doing and why, and also to better give an overview of the current status (along with some bugfixing), I could see this being fun to play. I did enjoy the art and music, though!

We Need Space! by BigJigglyProductions__ 2018-08-18T01:14:36Z

GameJolt seems to be down right now. I'll come back and play this later, but I'm excited to see it!

Arc by machrom 2018-08-18T02:06:53Z

Wow, this is a seriously impressive entry. Short of some UI bugs in the ship building mode (editing while en route seemed to break regularly, fixable by exiting the edit screen and executing a turn), everything here is _very_ solid. The gameplay was both unique and fun, the story short but interesting and at least engaging enough for a compo game, the music was really quite good (I'm totally using that tracker in the future), and the mechanics were solid and well implemented. Really, I just wanted more!

Power Plant by Noam 2018-08-13T19:16:31Z

Biodiversity: The Game! Very interesting and enjoyable concept. A well-executed strategy game in the compo is hard to come by, but you did it well. The tight scope of options, the simple but beautiful screen representation, time as your only resource: this has potential as a post-jam game for sure.

Collapsing Mines of LUMDOOM by Gus the Shark 2018-08-18T01:15:01Z

GameJolt seems to be down right now. I’ll come back and play this later, but I’m excited to see it!

Typer by youdonotexist 2018-08-13T18:42:32Z

Karaoke meets auto-platformer, I like it more than I know the lyrics to that intro...

Meager by Andrew Friedman 2018-08-18T01:39:10Z

I think you have the basis for a good game here, but the between the absolutely brutal difficulty and how frequently I spawned only to immediately die, I had a hard time finding it to be a fun experience. It's absolutely an impressive entry: the graphics are simple but cohesive, the music is nice, and jamming that many modes(and multiplayer) into such a short timeframe is really quite an achievement. I feel though that if you had instead spent that time on making the core game experience feel more fair, and given the player more time to react plus any sort of non-visual feedback about what was occurring, this could have been fun to play. Really though, nicely done on executing on so many things in the time you did!

Block Smash - Ludum Dare 42 Entry by vivek.sharma20 2018-08-18T01:27:50Z

Congratulations on a complete game as your first entry! The one thing that stood out to me was that the pieces placement needed a little more rules to the randomness. I ran into a few situations where I could not pass the pieces being spawned, and the difficulty ramp seemed to consist of "place larger pieces". But again, nicely done on a working game your first go! Please continue participating.

backSpace-X by omercanbalandi 2018-08-18T01:49:10Z

Nicely done, a complete experience on your first entry is a great place to start!

I really enjoyed the music and sfx, and the artwork was also pleasant and properly space-y.

Some feedback to consider:

- I'm not particularly fond of how much text is taking up space at the top, I would've liked less and larger/reactive text, especially for my scrap and HP. It was difficult to know where I was at in terms of either at a glance, and if I could upgrade.

- The difficulty seemed to operate on more of a cliff than a curve: too many enemies/asteroids too quickly, with too slow of a shot interval at too low damage, with movespeed much slower than enemy projectiles make the first few minutes very difficult, and the following few very easy after some upgrades.

- Some enemies on the edges of the screen (particularly the top) were impossible to hit, due to a too-large hitbox for the player. I'd recommend sizing it down to just _inside_ the player sprite in the future.

Overall, I think this is a very solid entry, and I'm glad that you're going to participate going forward!

Zombie Invasion by YamiOG 2018-08-15T09:09:14Z

1112 was my high score! Good entry overall, having to juggle the ghost enemies and the ever-encroaching zombie horde played really well. The sound was also nice, as was the high-contrast nature to the art.

That said, it was held back by a few bugs I noted.

- The first hit on a zombie meant that successive bullets didn't actually fire, but hit-scanned. - I sometimes got stuck on green edge tiles and had to move sideways inward while strafing away from ghosts, which was frustrating. - The UI for HP and special attack was not visible in a "restart" game, so I had to quit and re-load. - While not a bug, I didn't notice the question mark button until my 3rd run, so I had no idea that the blue bar was a special attack. Maybe including this as a normal menu item under "How to Play" would be more obvious.

Again, nicely done on a fun entry!

Zombie Invasion by YamiOG 2018-08-15T23:14:16Z

@yamiog I'll settle for #2. ;) Only game-breaking ones, unfortunately. But there's nothing stopping you from creating a post-compo version!

Inventorium by Ramanujo 2018-08-14T03:00:43Z

Thank you for the volume warning. I did enjoy the concept, regardless of how bad I was at it.

S.O.B.A.D. by Jamie Reed 2018-08-18T01:17:31Z

Other than a fair few issues with the controls (especially clicking on enemies seeming to work on 25% of the time), this is an impressive compo entry! I like the idea of a single player MOBA, get to avoid the toxicity of the LoL scene. Another note, I'm not entirely sure how this relates to the theme...

ZombieEnclosure by bovandenberg 2018-08-13T20:50:00Z

I appreciate the work that went into the art, music, and fun menu in this game! I would have loved to see a bit more gameplay involved, though.

A few notes: When dealing with actor movement, you generally want to set a `moveSpeed`, and use actor input to control the identity of a vector. This way, you avoid having different move speeds when the actor moves diagonally. In pseudocode, this looks something like: ``` moveSpeed = 5; moveVector = Vector2(Player.HorizontalAxisInput, Player.VerticalAxisInput).identity * moveSpeed; ```

Additionally, please don't package into an installer for LudumDare, it's enough to just package your game into a zip file (this avoids unnecessary system bloat for the hundreds of LD games 3 times a year).

Overall, nice entry! I hope you come back this Winter for more.

Compressor by Austino Bobino 2018-08-13T20:34:28Z

Interesting take on tetrominos for sure, I could see playing this on mobile. The music was quite good as well! I'd love to have an option to fast-shrink the walls, and while the configurability was nice, perhaps some difficulty presets would be better. Overall, great entry!

The Pit by jelbre 2018-08-13T20:26:23Z

Some clearer instructions would go a long way, I think. The movement and actions also felt a bit sluggish. But hey, very nice idea! Also, pleeeease don't make us use an installer for an LD game. Just package the built game in a zip file.

WASH UR BALLZ by SteamPunkProgrammer 2018-08-15T09:21:45Z

I enjoyed this entry, but I feel like your finessing of the camera worked against the playability. I found it very hard to predict where I was going to land, leading to a lot of time unexpectedly stunned. Being that this is the primary draw of the game (it makes the player feel more powerful than just rolling around), I'd suggest toying with the follow and controls, and perhaps adding an indicator that shows where you are above the ground. Overall, a great concept tho!

Additionally, for the sake of us other jammers, please use a free host (like itch.io) that supports faster downloads than Drive. It took a solid ~5 minutes to download your entry due to the size and slow speed. This could also be helped by shipping a smaller size zip, which could be immediately improved by not building in Unreal's "debug" mode.

Closing In by Cobear25 2018-08-12T23:20:50Z

Again, the music is my favorite part here! With some minor fixes/tweaks to the way the boost circles work, this is a worthy subject of post-jam time.

Zero Grace Megadrive by triplefox 2018-08-13T04:45:32Z

I agree with much of the feedback here: the addition of jumping to the light cycle mechanics is a great gameplay diversifier! The sounds were also pleasing, and the art style was clean and consistent. Great entry.

LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

Slaybraham and Diesaac by bloodyaugust 2018-12-20T06:47:25Z

@bernhard Only just technically a game. Thanks for playing!

SATIATE! by Secretmapper 2018-12-03T04:02:56Z

I loved this entry! Great concept, and very good execution. My only gripes are how quickly the difficulty scales (doesn't leave a lot of room for experimentation), and the choice in font(letters squish together and are unreadable).

LD45 — Start with nothing

Panspermia by bloodyaugust 2019-10-11T01:16:34Z

@jefvel @benpeterson Yes, the Actors die of old age. We didn't have time to create some sort of visual feedback for this though, and couldn't really take it out because it was crucial to the balance of the game.

The "scared" mode they enter is due to nearby enemies.

Untitled Goop Game by unept 2019-10-08T07:33:50Z

I think this is an excellent puzzle game mechanic, which was well thought out and more than adequately exploited, especially considering it's a jam entry! I've seen full releases with much less interesting puzzles. The art is also really cute and fits together quite well. My one quibble was that the guns we non-deterministic in their firing patterns(or so it seemed) which led me to more than one frustrating death. Excellent entry!

Bumparound by beepyeah 2019-10-08T07:13:57Z

Wow, an incredibly solid entry, as ever. Thematically, visually, aurally, it's all incredibly well-polished and full of juice! It's clear that you have an extremely solid grasp on how to make a game feel good, and the skill to execute on that in the time and theme constraints presented by a jam. I do feel that it falls a bit flat as far as being fun, being that it's less a puzzle and more... well, bumping around. That said, this is an amazing entry that rates very well in my book.

King of the Goo by BenPeterson 2019-10-08T07:00:18Z

Very reminiscient of my favorite part of spore! While I agree with some others here that the UI could use some work, I think this is an excellent entry overall. Decent AI, interesting and fun game mechanics, great art and good feedback all are impressive for a two person entry. Well done!

The Life Spirit by Cobear25 2019-10-08T07:16:26Z

I really enjoyed the fluid animations and clean visuals present here! I can't say as much about the sound, or that I understood the gameplay mechanics, but I think this is an extremely well-presented entry nonetheless.

Attack of the Killer Yarn Balls! by Zliebowitz 2019-10-08T07:35:46Z

I love the art style and the music adds a lot!! I wish there was a sound when you get injured, and that I could see how much money I had in while in the store. Also, you may want to mention in your controls on the LD page that the up arrow lets you use doorways.

Dungeon Miner by Monado 2019-10-08T07:38:02Z

LOVE the little miner girl. Great game! I had a lot of fun and want to play more and see what the depths hold.

A Slime Defense by srakowski 2020-04-30T03:21:09Z

I'm not sure what happened with your build, but seriously, I don't think you need to ship Windows alongside your game to get it working. The game itself is a nice foundation for a further exploration of Tower Defense mechanics. I would have liked to have seen some explanation of towers cost and other attributes like damage, special effects, etc. I think this also suffered from a lack of wave structure, as I couldn't reliably extend my maze without frontloading more powerful towers at the beginning of the maze in bursts. All told, this is a good entry, and I hope you keep working with it!

As an aside, you need to rate and give feedback on others games to get traffic to yours. Hopefully you decide to engage with the community, which is the real power these jams have over just working a side project solo.

A Slime Defense by srakowski 2020-05-01T22:26:11Z

@srakowski Fair enough. I hope it was fun, and you keep coming back for the challenge!

Space Station Express by quadtree 2020-04-30T03:34:55Z

I loved the twists on the classic "physics movement spacegame" formula that you found here! I would have liked to know how much health I had at a given moment. Also, *please* check your relative noise levels before publishing next time, the "drain cargo health" noise seemed like it was about to burst my speakers before I could hit the mute button... which is a real shame, because the music was pleasant and cute!

As an aside, engaging with the community by rating and giving feedback on others games is how you drive traffic to your entry. I hope you choose to do so before the rating period is over!

Defend Your Plant by bloodyaugust 2020-04-24T00:20:46Z

@thesmartietubes Yeah, we toyed with how to have attacks come from above and still have bugs behind be visible, but ultimately couldn't figure it out during the jam. A punch from the side looked weird... so we did at least make health bars appear over everything else, but there's definitely some workshopping to be done there.

@sane We struggled to figure out how to delineate the collider in a way that didn't look like hot garbage, but again couldn't figure something out within the time constraints. We'll keep noodling on it, for sure.

Defend Your Plant by bloodyaugust 2020-05-01T22:24:34Z

@daria-toni Yeah, it's a real, modern game hiding under the skin of an early 2000s clicker. I'm glad you appreciated the mute buttons, that's feedback I've always gotten on my games that have sound... Good to hear the opposite side this time!

@thekingbarry @tqv5964 There is a "restart (easy)" mode option after you lose on "normal" difficulty(which to be frank is fairly difficult). Did you notice that option? Did you have more success in that mode?

Thanks for playing, all! :tada:

Tamagotchi Mastermind by Khud0 2020-04-21T07:34:27Z

This is a lovely little entry: short and sweet! The art in particular strikes me as having a lot of care put into it. The sprites are clean, emotive, and easily distinguishable, and also pretty fun! The music is great as well, although it doesn't seem like it fits the feel of the game. I would expect something more ambient given the kind of serene setting and pace of gameplay. Really, I'd just like to see more! More things to possess, more exploration of different movement mechanics. Nicely done!

Soul Seed by unept 2020-04-21T04:11:19Z

Excellent entry: the clean artwork and atmospheric soundscape really sold it for me (despite the audio not being yours, great choice). The platforming controls did feel a little loose considering the limited freedom for screw-ups afforded the player, but that didn't get in the way of my enjoyment too much. Well done!

Mother Hen by beepyeah 2020-04-21T04:21:44Z

Excellent entry! The graphics were awfully cute, and the sound design was egg-ceptional, especially considering the restraints of Pico-8. The puzzles were nice, and really I just wanted more mechanics to mess about with. Also, having z be "win", and x be "restart the game haha too bad you just lost all that progress" screwed me over more than a couple of times. Overall, this is a fantastic entry, well done!

Mother Hen by beepyeah 2020-04-21T19:41:45Z

@beepyeah Nicely done! No more accidental resets. FWIW, I loved the chicken's "heavy metal moment", and I hope it stays in.

Please @ me when the game is uploaded!

Honeycomb Empire by Axeliz 2020-04-30T01:37:59Z

Came back to play this one, and I very much enjoyed it! The stats, upgrades, and UI in general could use a lot of tweaking to make it more obvious what things do, how they interact, and where you can un-block a production chain, but it's honestly impressive that you managed to fit so many mechanics and so much content in during the jam! I love tug-of-war style games, and I really hope you take this one the distance to release!

Plant Life by HEXIEZ123 2020-04-30T02:21:43Z

Man, this was rough, but a really great entry! It stretched my brain to the point of breaking by the time I reached the "type to kill" mechanic. Solid implementation of gameplay, but some good sfx feedback and background music would've really sold this as an amazing entry. Responsive UI would've been nice to have for fullscreen on my monitor, but playing windowed was fine. Another +1 for the water controls feeling backwards. All in all, excellent job with this one!

Star Keeper (Ludum Dare 46) by Cobear25 2020-04-21T04:00:52Z

Great game! Looks and sounds excellent, but the feel was a bit marred by the fact that the collider on the grabber was so small, and that there were definitely some missed collisions there. I think if you changed the collision detection mode on the hand grabber to continuous, these missed collisions wouldn't happen. I might chalk that up as a game-breaking bug, which would be allowed to be fixed under the rules of the jam. The mechanic itself however was very intuitive, and also innovative! Overall, a great entry. Well done!

Star Keeper (Ludum Dare 46) by Cobear25 2020-04-21T19:38:42Z

@cobear25 Looks like your fixes worked! Nicely done.

Rootgnome by KoraktorXV 2020-04-21T07:45:18Z

I'll be honest, I have literally no idea what I was supposed to be doing, or how... aside from eating the... roots? Which quickly ran out. I'm not sure what the bars along the top were supposed to convey, but it kind of seemed like they dropped and grew at random. I did very much enjoy the models! I'd love to see more voxel art like this in the indie scene. Overall, I can tell that some serious work went into this, but I think you need to prioritize communicating goals with your player thru more/better UI and player feedback. Keep at it!

Terri-Fried by PolyMars 2020-04-21T08:05:29Z

Gimme a second for the serious guitar-hero-vision to wear off... there we go! I swear I spent something like twenty minutes trying to get above 10 score, and I just couldn't do it. This is a great little game, and the core mechanic is so much fun! That said, I think it needs some tweaking to feel really "natural". I believe you're correcting for the travel of the platform or only tracking the mouse movement, but either way, I think this messed with my ability to correctly power my jumps. It also felt like the jump power was on some sort of scale, as small to moderate movements made barely any progress, and moderate to large movements launched me across the map. With some tweaking, this has the potential to be a seriously addictive mechanic for a mobile game. To counteract the serious vision swim, try adding a static background, or background elements that move in the opposite direction. I hope you keep working on this one, it's great! As an aside, how did you enjoy your experience in raylib?

Terri-Fried by PolyMars 2020-04-21T19:33:31Z

@polymars killing two birds with one stone is always worthwhile!

I figured it was intentional, and I couldn't pick out exactly why getting the right trajectory/power seemed impossible, but I also figured I'd try and take a stab at it for feedback sake.

Ahhhh yes, learning a new framework/library during a jam... Always a temptation, but it rarely turns out this well, so mad props there! I've been meaning to check it out. Did you use an ECS framework, or just raylib core?

Flower Defense by Evolving 2020-04-30T02:50:20Z

You've got a lot of skill in your pixels, but this really needed more communication with the player. The sfx and "hurt" shader were nice to have, but in the future I would recommend that you prioritize some UI to communicate the game state with the player. How much HP do I have? What wave am I on? How many enemies have I killed? Those are all questions that when answered can really help the player to feel more "involved" in playing the game. As an aside, if your only menu scene option is "start", I'd just launch straight into the game scene instead. Overall, nicely done and I hope you come back for more in the future!

Clerical Error by PhantomBadger 2020-04-30T01:46:32Z

Great entry! I feel like your concept and mechanics were well executed, but it defintely felt like it needed more content and juice to really push it over the edge into amazing territory. I think there's also some room for improvement in how the UI communicates with the player: I couldn't really tell when my spells were off cooldown, or if I had actually successfully cast a mass heal. The music was kind of distracting to the experience, but the SFX were nice and fit the aesthetic. I hope you follow on with this project and add more enemies, attacks, and party member types!

Flippy Fish by Doot 2020-04-30T01:56:55Z

WOW! You guys really nailed it with this one. The core mechanics are simple to learn and hard to master, the art really looks incredible and evokes the cuteness and atmosphere intended, and while the music/sfx aren't yours they were an excellent choice that really add to the overall experience. I hope you plan on taking this all the way, it would make a great little time waster! Suggestions feel moot here as this is such a complete entry with rock-solid execution (did you event get action queueing in, or is that just my imagination?). With skills like this, I'm sure that you're already scheming gaming world domination. Kudos on what is sure to be a top ten entry!

S.L.I.M.E.S. Division by Yoshify 2020-04-30T08:18:13Z

Excellent entry, definitely in my top 5! It came together beautifully: the mechanic was solid and well-executed, the music although not yours was an excellent choice, the sfx were nice and crunchy, the juice was on point, and it was _extremely_ satisfying to set up a network of missile launchers and watch the fireworks. As you noted, the balance is... questionable, but you did admirably considering how much work was obviously poured into the more mechanical aspects of the game. Great player feedback, too! I never felt like I lost population because I didn't have the information I needed. I hope that in your updates you address the balance to re-focus on the core player interaction, as the automated missiles automated the fun straight out of interacting. Perhaps some variation in threats to the player aside from rate of spawn and size/speed of asteroids would help to diversify the interaction necessary and help offset the crazy efficiency of the missile turrets. I've followed you on itch, I'm excited to see where you take this one!

ezreactor by 0xab 2020-04-30T03:02:42Z

Like others have said, you _really_ need to have a compiled version of your game somewhere (itch.io is great) to get any real traction, but also I see that you've not rated anyone else. Your balance will change and you'll get more traffic as you rate and comment on others entries. I hope you start engaging with the community, I love to see entries in languages that don't generally get much love from the gamedev community!

Be THE DOG by ul0n 2020-04-30T02:36:06Z

Good implementation of a solid concept, I really enjoyed this "twin stick" shooter! The sfx were nice, but some creepy audio would've helped to sell the mood. I also wasn't quite sure if or how the health of enemies was telegraphed to the player, as even the same types of enemies seemed to require different numbers of hits. I'd also recommend that the gun "auto-shoots", so I don't have to hold the mouse button down the whole time. All told, this is a great entry, congrats!

@maryush28 I can't speak for the creator's opinion, but I _can_ highly recommend Godot as a great engine to work in. The node tree is a very intuitive way to structure and reason about the pieces of a game, in my experience so far. Also, it's tiny, loads extremely fast, and has bindings for _lots_ of languages. On top of those, it also really lends itself to CI where other engines (looking at you, Unity) tend to make CI a bear on purpose so you'll pay for their cloud build service. Not to mention it's completely free and open source!

BaseBrawl by Tidy Games 2020-04-30T02:56:14Z

I think this game has a lot of potential, I'm sorry to hear that you had issues that prevented you from taking it further during the jam. In the future though, if your UI isn't responsive, please leave the game window size selector in your build for those of us with unusual screen sizes. Keep at it, hope you come back for the next one!

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Holey Hell by managore 2021-05-04T19:37:32Z

I feel like it's been said, but this is a seriously fantastic entry. The scope and mechanics feel super tight, and for the most part, failures felt like my own. The art and general aesthetic are truly something else, and it's extremely rare to find an entry that achieves this level of polish! Well done!

Deep Sleep by Link270 2021-04-27T02:52:28Z

Well. That was... both deeply unsettling, but hopeful and powerful.

If your UI isn't responsive, you shouldn't forego the Unity launcher that allows you to set the resolution and fullscreen state. I couldn't read most of the text on my ultrawide monitor, though enough to understand what was going on... :grimacing:

This is a great entry, but technical issues have a significant effect on immersion, which is so important for games like this. Well done though!

LD49 — Unstable

Ecologist by bloodyaugust 2021-10-04T22:13:05Z

@tata-yoz Yeah, the balancing inside the 72/48 hour timeframe is always hard for strategy entries. :sob: We've heard both that it's too easy and that it's too hard... Par for the course, unfortunately.

@martin183 Agreed, some ambient audio would've been good, but we just didn't have the time/effort left to put something in.

Ecologist by bloodyaugust 2021-10-05T23:13:58Z

@barelyevengames Definitely another struggle I've had with doing strategy games in a jam time-frame: player feedback is hard when there's so much state you could potentially communicate. I don't know if you saw it, but did the right-hand info panel help to guide you a bit on the progression?

StackItToSpace by Sarah 2021-10-19T08:44:31Z

Very impressive entry! Finding the fun can be hard under a time crunch, but it seems like you found it early and just went absolutely ham on polish, and it turned out really well. FWIW I don't think games need to be "hard" to be fun, but I didn't think this one was "too easy" either. Figuring out how to get things rotated the way I wanted them presented a nice challenge.

The art, music, and transition effects took something simple and fun, and made it feel like a smooth and complete experience. Lots of attention to detail on display here, and it comes together so nicely! Well done!

My Little Monster by cdunham 2021-10-19T08:36:03Z

Nice entry here! The humor really came thru in the graphics, which were really nicely done overall. The mechanics were simple and easy to understand, but pretty brutal in practice. I think some more diversity in how you retrieve items and otherwise bump up the needs bars would have done a lot for the fun factor, but that's real hard to do in a jam timeframe. Great job!

ESCAPE FROM AREA 49 (The Spiritual Successor to Pedal Power) by BarelyEvenGames 2021-10-05T23:12:30Z

Well, good to know that I'm trash at 10 key. You definitely improved on the formula here! It came together very nicely, it seems quite well polished in terms of art, music, sfx, and transitions. I can't say that I find typing games all that fun, but you did the hell out of it, well done. 10/10 would type 666 to vroom again

Pipeworks by StarryNiteGames 2021-10-05T23:06:18Z

This is a great entry! Cool mechanic from a technical viewpoint that also worked out to be a lot of fun as a core game mechanic. Gods was it hard though... That pedestal level was designed by some demon from hell, I'm positive. A little more feedback to the player about how fast you're spinning when empty, and with how far the camera zooms out, would be a great tweak to make. Otherwise this was totally solid!

Shrodingor Unstablor Borgor by Tata_Yoz 2021-10-19T08:49:53Z

I... have no fucking clue what I just played. But I liked it? I think? I'm honestly not sure, and I don't wanna open the borgor box to find out. 11/10. Theme 5/5 because the authors are clearly unstable.

Unstable Gun Fishing by pauljohnprogramming 2021-10-04T05:33:13Z

Hey, great entry! First and foremost, games should be _fun_, and this one definitely is. The boss is difficult to beat, the attention-splitting nature of the player interactions makes it challenging and engaging, and the overall execution of the "bullet hell" genre is really quite good here. The setting and music are quite funny and, especially the music, actually pretty well executed. I haven't seen(heard, I guess) that done before, and you pulled it off nicely.

I don't know Game Maker, but if it supports exporting just the executable and data (which you can then zip up), I'd recommend going that route instead of an installer. Those make me and a lot of other people anxious, and it's really just unnecessary for a jam. Also, being able to hold right mouse to shoot would be great!

Unstable Gun Fishing by pauljohnprogramming 2021-10-04T17:59:55Z

@pauljohnprogramming Oh, that's my bad, reading comprehension fail!

LD51 — Every 10 seconds

autoball by torcado 2022-10-06T03:11:43Z

Wow. Absolutely incredible entry. Seems like you've done a ton of amazing work, so this isn't surprising... But still, an absolute joy of a game. I could see myself getting sucked into this for a very, _very_ long time, after some tweaks that make it scale better into the late game, or perhaps diversify the game mechanics and break it up into levels somehow. Seriously, amazing job! :tada:

Laika's Revenge by bloodyaugust 2022-10-04T17:35:37Z

@sleepymenace Thanks so much for playing and for your thoughts! The balance DEFINITELY needs some work, and Laika loves you too.

@blandprix I definitely lost some time to just walking around with everything tuned up and clearing tons of enemies. It's no wonder this genre is so satisfying. I couldn't find an entry from you for this year, am I looking in the wrong place?

Laika's Revenge by bloodyaugust 2022-10-04T19:49:47Z

@dhim Thank you! It is definitely in desperate need of better balancing. Believe it or not, it felt significantly worse 2 hours before the deadline. Fully agreed that the player speed could use an upgradeable item, something we wanted to do but ran out of time for. :sob: Appreciate the feedback!

@pete-thorne Glad you appreciated the more relaxed nature of the game! Definitely something we sought as a departure from the genre. Overall speed is definitely something we wanted to address in terms of player and scaling enemy difficulty, but time is a cruel mistress. Godot high-five! :tada:

PULSAR by kazuo256 2022-10-06T02:03:26Z

I think there's a really good puzzle/base builder in here, seriously. The mood of the art and SFX, the main menu, everything came together incredibly well to give a sense of foreboding. I appreciated all the attention to detail in the sprite work, and just how well mixed the SFX were. That said, the tutorial wasn't really that helpful in understanding the mechanics of the game. I _think_ I got to where I understood how the rotators worked, but I still felt like there was something I was missing. With some more work on the UI and a more in-depth explanation of how power transmission and rotators work, I can see this being really enjoyable.

Also, this doesn't play well on trackpads. I discovered that Q and E could also rotate buildings, but couldn't pan the camera. Mousing the edge of the screen or supporting arrow keys for this purpose would be great.

Overall, really fantastic entry! :tada:

Find Ten Seconds by dhim 2022-10-04T19:52:26Z

I appreciate slower-paced word games like this one. Losing a tile every ten seconds felt like just the right amount of pressure. I struggled to find any easter-egg style combos (is Princeton one? if so, I didn't get it), and my inner child was sad that 6+9 didn't offer more points, same with 4+20 or adding up to 100 even. Either way, great entry, very enjoyable word game! :tada: I also like your tech stack, I'd love to see more web-native entries.

Smack Demon by Firebelley 2022-10-04T18:43:27Z

Very enjoyable! The mechanics felt really tight, and overall the game felt nice and juicy. Plenty of great animations and audio feedback to the player. I think that, as a puzzle game, it matched my playstyle well... Which is to say that they weren't very difficult, and could mostly be solved with patience. Perhaps some tighter tuning of the attack patterns would make it feel more puzzle-like, but honestly, I personally really enjoy it just the way it is! Awesome job! :tada:

Defend The Orb by Cobear25 2022-10-04T18:53:04Z

Great entry! I won't mention the things you already know, so here's some stuff you and others haven't discussed: - I think it'd be nicer UI-wise if the turrets didn't push others until placed - Some indication that drag-n-drop is the mechanic for placing turrets would be great - Scaling the difficulty further would offer more room for replayability

I got to score 300 on 69 hp, :tada:

Prize Pumpkin TD by slimefriend 2022-10-04T20:01:56Z

Very interesting twist on the traditional TD model! I think with some further tweaking and balancing, this concept could really shine. The ice and water felt too expensive for their relative effect, and spamming plants still felt like the best strategy, but the other too were last-ditch CYA items which ruined me financially for the next round. Great entry overall! :tada:

Forkin Around by FastAndBlast 2022-10-04T18:30:35Z

Excellent entry! Very complete core loop. The controls felt very nice, and the UI/sound design was quite clean and informative. Later speed upgrades did feel more like a downgrade, and I'm not sure how useful the conveyor was, but it was totally frantic and engaging! I scored 252 on my fourth and final run. Nicely done! :tada:

Purple Legion by Astoeth 2022-10-06T02:40:27Z

An interesting way of applying the theme, made something that would otherwise be a relaxing puzzle-like game into something hectic and sweaty. By the end, I was facing down a horde of full board of purple dudes, and the game was pretty lagged... so I died. Made it to level 35 tho! I definitely missed some clarity in what upgrades were doing for specific cards, and by the end, I just wanted to be able to cast my spells as quickly as possible, so the modal window just got in the way. A very fine entry, indeed! :tada:

UniVerse by oramun 2022-10-04T19:11:47Z

Seeing the above as well, I'll check back again later.

J-Menuing by nyxkn 2022-10-06T03:17:48Z

The UI and feedback here was seriously on point... And a good thing too, considering it was a twist on the classic JRPG formula that twisted an already terrible thing into something awful (and fun!). Very clever idea, and very well executed. Seemed very balanced, too, which is a rarity for jam games. Nicely done! :tada:

Drone TD by Stefan B. 2022-10-06T02:24:52Z

The handling of the drone was super satisfying. I feel like it's difficult to get movement to feel right with something so... Floaty? But you pulled it off. The SFX were nice, and I very much enjoyed the resource collection and randomized hand twists on the TD genre. It felt like towers didn't come up often enough, and I couldn't tell if the "S" upgrades applied to all turrets, or if there was some super turret I never saw pop. Either way, great entry, and concept well-executed!

Smash Hit! by Tuile 2022-10-04T19:10:46Z

Birdwatching by Iguanana 2022-10-06T02:48:28Z

Typed hard, failed. Got bird facts anyway. Nice.

I definitely would've liked some more feedback on if my keystrokes were correct or incorrect, and perhaps a better algorithm for selecting the next bird. I got a lot of repeats. But great entry, very informative and cute! :tada:

unbeLEAFable by MYTHRILSMITHS 2022-10-04T19:04:55Z

As you and others have said, there's definitely some feedback for the player missing here. I didn't know what kinds of plants the customers wanted... Sometimes the name was obvious, but many were not. Maybe icons instead of text would work better here. Indications in-game for where to fetch resources would have been nice, too. But the gameplay loop, when I understood what I was doing, felt solid! The art style is also GORGEOUS. Nice entry! :tada:

Parcel Pursuit by bloodyaugust 2023-05-02T00:11:19Z

@congeesetador Thank you for playing! There's a tutorial at the beginning that is supposed to show you how to double-jump, which is how you get over the dogs and scooters. And guitar hero vision is a thing, it's not just you! After putting all that time into it, my eyes are still swimming a bit as well.

Parcel Pursuit by bloodyaugust 2023-05-02T05:26:04Z

@congeesetador Glad you figured it out! Without that element, there's not much in the way of challenge for this one.

@benjamin-gearig @clarkdjent Thank you for the kind words! I'm glad you enjoyed the visuals, my partner is quite talented. 😊

@cobear25 We tried to convey the right timing with the tutorial section, but yeah, it's a little deceptive. I think it comes down to the tweening/easing slowing down so hard near the apex, but other styles left the jump feeling extra float-y. I'll be the first to admit I don't really know how this is done in other games of the style: this is one of my few complete "platformer" entries.

Parcel Pursuit by bloodyaugust 2023-05-02T16:13:52Z

@weirdbitgames Thank you for the kind words! :D You're actually delivering a package to the mailbox, not ducking under it. Packages delivered is your score.

Parcel Pursuit by bloodyaugust 2023-05-02T17:31:22Z

@cody-holt You're not the only person to mention either of those... I think maybe our tutorial could have been a bit clearer. But I'm glad you enjoyed it, thanks for playing! :tada:

FredEx by ScrapMetal 2023-05-02T21:24:52Z

Good lord, this is the hardest game I've played so far. Couldn't make more than $300. Fun and funny take on the physics genre, and well-executed! I just need an easy mode with a monster truck or something.

XD Lines by Renard 2023-05-02T16:26:07Z

Honestly, the driving felt really great for a jam game. And in 3D, too! I did end up softlocking though, I fell over on my side, and resetting my vehicle kept me on my side. Fun little entry!

Holiday Halfpipe by Marcus Otterstrom 2023-05-02T18:33:45Z

Very nicely done! Highly polished complicated physics gameplay for a weekend, I'm seriously impressed with the programming. The art is also fantastic! I think I might be terrible at it, after 20 or so attempts my high score was 5000.

Baby Dino Delivery by Cobear25 2023-05-02T04:49:53Z

The highest I delivered was 90, played on fair. Great entry! Solid variation on the match 3 genre, that brought a ton of extra challenge to the game. I'd definitely be curious to know how you're controlling the generation of dinos for the different difficulty levels.

Ganymede Shipping Company by kypello 2023-05-02T04:43:57Z

Wow, the difficulty really ramps up quickly on this one, doesn't it? But the look and feel is fantastic! Great job finding sounds and music that line up with the atmosphere, it really helps the immersion. I experienced similar issues with cutoff screen elements at any browser/window size, including fullscreen(3440x1440). I feel like the complexity could've been introduced more slowly, and a handier reference to the rules and matching regulations in game would've made it more fun and less... taxing on my poor brain. Overall, very nicely done! :tada:

WASTELAND Express by YogurtTheHorse 2023-05-02T20:16:01Z

I'm amazed at just how _much_ is in this entry. Seriously, this doesn't feel like it could be done in a weekend. Huge kudos to this team. You're all incredible. The game feel, mechanics, UI, art, sfx, music... Everything is just absolutely wonderful. AWESOME. :tada:

Deliver the Cube by peterfiftyfour 2023-05-02T21:36:49Z

I liked this fun little sandbox! I really wish there was (as others have asked/said) a way to inspect how much energy is in my network, and how much I needed. I kind of built out the infrastructure first, then added solar panels until I finally lifted off. I would love to see this turn into a real game!

Rail Blazer by alanxoc3 2023-05-02T03:41:23Z

Cleared it a couple of times, great work! Really innovative mechanics here, and a very satisfying game loop. The music was just the right tone for the game as well, vaguely creepy, medium energy... just good exploring stuff. I think I ran into a bug in both maps tho: I didn't get any iron (I assume that's what that icon is). It slowed down my progress quite a bit, as I could only do the third quest one at a time. Overall, this is a fantastic entry!

Serum Run by 3LSTMsInATrenchcoat 2023-05-02T18:43:30Z

I lost twice. Think I spent too much time playing piano. Fuck that old guy and his cranky self. And thank you for reminding me of Baldo... Just what my Tuesday needed! :sob: But seriously, well done on this entry. A love letter to both a wonderful story, and a wonderful old game. I appreciate the love and care that went into this. Some music definitely is needed, if you pursue this past the jam. Thank you for the experience.

DO NOT OPEN THE LETTER by MarcoDeevil 2023-05-03T01:33:04Z

A very cute "horror" game! I don't normally enjoy horror anything, but this was just the right amount of creepy. Also, I opened the letter immediately on my first run... and got a nice little message from someone. Very fun mechanic, to leave messages for other players! I hope no one makes you regret that. Nicely done! :tada:

Crystallium by MikoziQ 2023-05-01T23:44:08Z

This is a great entry! Extra props definitely to the graphics: it's a gorgeous, creepy "low-fi" look you have there. Definitely seems like the kind of thing that would do well on mobile. The restrictions around being able to turn left and right seem a bit dubious, given the "not-quite-on-rails" aspect of the road, but it still played well, and losing was fun and hilarious. Watching my van go off the edge in fun ways got a couple of chuckles from me. Since you opted out of the audio category, I won't comment except to say that the turn noise got old quick. Anyways, well done! :tada:

A Blacksmith's Gift by Kassie Kitsune 2023-05-02T04:28:28Z

Cleared with an SS blade on my second attempt! Great little game. I hope lesbians proposing with fine swords after fighting a horde of enemies becomes the norm. 😍

Yours always, Delittah by alyd asmar 2023-05-02T18:20:15Z

As others have mentioned, this really is a gorgeous experience. The soundscape _really_ matches the tone of the characters, and the art is just so cute! I'm not sure I understood what was trying to be communicated, but I did enjoy exploring the little tree town and its folx. Thank you for the relaxing experience! :tada:

Costruttore by CeterasDragos 2023-05-08T05:24:11Z

Wow, this is an incredibly impressive amount to get done in 72 hours! Having a physics game this stable after so little time to tweak is amazing. The physics were definitely... questionable at times, and I built a couple of contraptions that the engine _really_ didn't seem to like (immediately lagged out), but overall I just very much enjoyed playing around as a sandbox, and occasionally successfully clearing a level. Well done! :tada:

🗣️ MR SPEECH: The Purr-fect Pitch by Choo 2023-05-02T16:52:19Z

Good execution of a simple concept, and really hilarious. The twist on the second level had me laughing _again_. The slides in the deck were on point, the deadpan delivery of lines... Easily the most funny entry I've played. Well done! :tada:

Feathered Dispatch by Cody Holt 2023-05-02T16:44:44Z

Good entry! A tutorial in-game would've been super helpful, but the controls were intuitive enough that I figured it out eventually. Initially, I was confused and thought the items already on the map (not the capital or hub) were towns and such... But like I said, I figured it out eventually. I would've liked some of the natural formations to be named landmarks, it would've made triangulation in the beginning a little more intuitive. Very innovative, and nice gameplay loop! :tada:

Parcel Larceny by amarokczukay 2023-05-02T17:54:13Z

Serious nostalgia flashbacks to the flash games of yore, for me. Definitely belongs on newgrounds, and up there with the real good stuff! Very solid game full of polished and fun UI, but the core gameplay loop is really engaging too! I felt bad about walking the dog into mines... but he _did_ munch on me a few times, so I guess fair is fair. Very well done! :tada:

Food Service Singularity by Cheesecube 2023-05-03T22:00:34Z

Finished the game! I'd be lying if I said the drone pickup mechanics didn't frustrate me a few times, though. The hitboxes or perhaps the inputs definitely could've used some love, it was difficult to get things lined up the way the game wants in order to grab things. Some instruction on level 2 that we could pick up the fridge would've also been nice, since I think that's how you have to solve that puzzle? You don't get the instruction until level 3 tho. Either way, the music created a nice atmosphere, the fridge faces made me laugh, and the mechanics themselves were a solid base for what was a nice little puzzle game. Kudos! :tada:

Mt. Deliverest by QwillaK 2023-05-02T21:44:31Z

7 authors, wow! I always wonder how people manage to coordinate that many minds for a weekend, on a small project. Either way, this entry is totally impressive. I managed to make it past the first camp before I gave up. Great visuals, awesome and well-executed mechanic, challenging game without seeming unfair (I'm just not coordinated enough). Nicely done! :tada:

Onboard Hell by Blublu 2023-05-02T18:10:07Z

Very solid entry! The art and UX were definitely on point, and the music helped to set the stage for "exploration". I appreciated all the work that went into polishing the experience, and would have loved it if the pickup indicators while docked at a planet pointed in the direction of the destination. I think some punishment around hitting asteroids also would've been cool, as would pickups for restoring your energy between planets. The game locked up for me in Chrome on MacOS when I hit submit, so I didn't get to go on the leaderboard. :sob: But again, well done here! :tada:

GobEx by WeirdBitGames 2023-05-02T04:08:56Z

What an excellent and fun game! I seriously played for about 20 minutes, the loop was just so satisfying! The action was very frenetic, the music was perfect, I loved the little sound effect when you give the goblin a gift, and the details around opening mail and being able to ship his hat (and the clipboard in the tutorial). I think I found a broken strategy though... the bonks may be a bit too forgiving. Have a look at the screenshot below, and you'll see how I managed to get 25,000. 🤣 ld53-lol.png

GobEx by WeirdBitGames 2023-05-02T04:29:52Z

@weirdbitgames I "constructed" a little hut of packages that prevented my goblin from being touched! 🤣 I'll be honest though, I called it a day and called the endpoint for the highscore endpoint directly from the browser, my actual score was a little higher than that. 😜

GobEx by WeirdBitGames 2023-05-02T04:34:37Z

You do you. :)

Congo Premiere by Slightly Ajar 2023-05-02T16:59:44Z

Great entry here! I thought the movement mechanics were... *ahem* _prime_. As was the joke in the main menu about ambitions for multiplayer. As you start in the jam scene, it's just one of those things you try and learn. This really is fantastic as a first entry! :tada: I had a couple of targets appear directly underneath me (same place twice in a row), and I'll admit I initially thought I was being clever and dropped based on the location of my _shadow_, cuz that's where a package would land, right? :face_palm: Anyway, well done, and come back again for the next one! :D

Congo Premiere by Slightly Ajar 2023-05-02T17:29:48Z

You definitely had the right of it: the sun angle means nothing, it'd definitely drop straight down without wind. I was just being too clever for my own good. A re-roll of the dropoff index would definitely work, now you know for next time!

Boxtorio by JoshuaBounds 2023-05-02T04:17:59Z

This is a great tech demo, and definitely has the bones you could build a game on. As it is, it's a fun little automation sandbox. I liked the demo levels you put together!

Drone Delivery by uNclear Physicist 2023-05-02T18:29:09Z

This is brutally difficult! I like the diversification to the classic flappy formula here, but there's definitely opportunity for better communication with the player. I'm specifically thinking of the dropoff zone, it would be great to show where exactly that is! My first 20 or so attempts to deliver a package ended in death, because I thought you had to land on the building to deliver. Also, if you miss a package for pickup, it can be a very long time before you see another one. But hey, great first entry, and I hope you come back for more! :tada:

Deep Sands Delivery by Rjdrag 2023-05-02T21:18:57Z

Wow, fantastic job! I was very surprised to see this was a one-person effort. There are a couple of bugs that others have mentioned, and just some general jankiness around how the character controls, but it's a great concept and overall well-executed. It did have some serious graphical issues being played on the web, maybe something with the exporter? Great entry! :tada:

Dungeons & Deliveries by sorreveloper 2023-05-03T17:22:35Z

Hey, great entry here! The core mechanic was engaging and fun, you had a cute little intro and some good UI, and both the music and SFX were nice and added to the experience! I'd love to see some sort of meta progression a la roguelike/roguelites in this entry, I think it would've paired up very nicely with what you have and given it some legs for replaying. As it is, I think I won 7 or 8 times trying to make sure I saw and got all the items. Well done! :tada:

Milky Way Dispatch by iggy lonely 2023-05-02T06:19:51Z

A really great entry! Definitely a solid platformer... Which means I _sucked_ at it. 🤣 So bad in fact, that I seem to have broken it... But anyway, the art, music, and sfx are all very solid as well. Nicely done! :tada:

LD54 — Limited Space

Space Piracy 2444 by seurimas 2023-10-10T15:48:25Z

First and foremost, this game is _fun_. It's hard to make a working game in 48 hours. It's even harder to make a _fun_ game in 48 hours, so really well done there! :D I have some nitpicks with the UI (please make indicators for other items around the screen), and in general navigating local space and being able to tell how fast I was moving was fairly difficult which some more background elements could help with, but seriously, well done here. There are so many avenues for you to take this, and I really hope you do decide to expand on the concept! Nicely done! :tada:

Station Defender by bloodyaugust 2023-10-02T18:53:03Z

@candlesan I'm glad you appreciated it! The inspiration was definitely Vampire Survivors, Brotato, and others like it... But I haven't seen an interesting movement mechanic in any of those games yet, and wanted to see how it affected the formula. I think it gives a lot more gravity to the idea that you're controlling "placement" in addition to your build, and livens up the actual gameplay. Thank you for playing!

@cogcomp Scrapping your modules as you go is definitely important to managing your mass as you progress, swapping out older things for better ones. But yeah, scrapping everything from the get go is probably not the path to success.

Station Defender by bloodyaugust 2023-10-02T20:08:41Z

@jellycopter Yeah, those speedy bois definitely punish you for not taking engines early. And I agree, sounds would be excellent! But as is usually the case, I just totally ran out of time before getting all the gameplay polish and content in that I wanted.

@poopgames Thank you for the kind words! If you're interested, part of the awesomeness of LudumDare is the requirement for source code, so you can have a look at the architecture at your leisure. Basically, I try to go as data-driven as I can for these kinds of "systems" games. Modules are represented by a special resource that just extends the base "Resource" class, and they hold all of the relevant information. That makes it super easy to add new ones, and easy to reason about when implementing their respective gameplay implications due to the type hinting it gives you. As for not being able to tell what ship you're currently targeting... yeah. I should definitely have added that, in retrospect.

Thank you for playing!

Station Defender by bloodyaugust 2023-10-03T17:28:37Z

@quasilyte Super quality feedback here, thank you so much! I'd double heart it if I could.

Trouble In Paradise by Nick Rafalski 2023-10-10T15:18:06Z

I made it in 477.62! A very impressive entry from a technical standpoint. Proc gen and the minimap both worked very nicely, impressive to get those done in the space of the compo. I thought the art and sound were both cute, and overall it came together for a nice experience. Personally I enjoyed the control scheme, but I can see how a continuous scheme like that of a joystick would work for more people without taking away from the experience. Honestly, I'm not sure how "fun" it is, but with some further work to diversify the gameplay elements, I think it could do well as a simple mobile game. Nicely done! :tada:

Snake Snake Boom by cleitoneldorn 2023-10-02T17:42:06Z

The attention to detail around the juicing of the classic was really great! I appreciated the graphics and SFX, they were very cute. The animation of the mouth and segments was, as well. I think some of that attention could have been focused on gameplay, however. Indicating to the player _where_ the bomb would drop, and exactly how long you have until it explodes would have been welcome. Similarly, I had a couple of instances where after grabbing food, a rock appeared directly in my path, which was frustrating more that fun. All in all, a very complete and well-polished entry! My high score was 17 (I'm terrible even at normal Snake ).

Canals by leparlon 2023-10-02T18:07:25Z

Great game! I particularly enjoy the subject matter, and I'm sure many a city planner would love the ability to just... dig canals everywhere to isolate traffic. I would have loved a way to influence the movement of the cars, as it is, it kind of becomes a waiting game... And waiting is not particularly fun. :) All in all though, a fun and unique idea that is well-executed. Great job! :tada:

Protector of the light by mango-malarkey 2023-10-02T20:52:34Z

A great combination of rogue and TD mechanics. I think it could use some telegraphing of enemy intent, I found myself getting caught out by when they would attack. You mentioned there are areas you want to explore more, and I think you should! With more content around towers, combat, and enemies, I think this is a very promising idea. Well-executed for a compo game, and very nicely polished. Great job! :tada:

Amazin' Delivery Service by candlesan 2023-10-02T18:59:51Z

Tetris with physics! Very nicely done. I did find myself wondering if larger pieces had higher mass and using that as a way to "keep down" the load in overloaded trucks, but did not find much success there. I would love to see this done in a slightly different way, with some sort of fail state. I think Tetris-like games in general are great because they add time pressure to the puzzle formula, and I think that would do a lot for this one. All in all though, fully wrapped as a game, with nice visuals and polished mechanics, this is a great entry! :tada: I made $61, don't think I'll be quitting my day job any time soon.

Vessel Run by freamdev 2023-10-05T18:09:22Z

You have a fun concept here! The idea that you have to switch active modules to balance different goals that change across the game is inherently fun, I think. There were some bugs and lack of polish that were hard to ignore, but the bones are there for a fun experience. Also, doing 3D modelling in a solo entry is crazy, nicely done! :tada:

Unstable Resource by dhargan 2023-10-02T19:05:12Z

Nice take on Blackjack here. I do think there are a lot of avenues left unexplored by your entry to make it a bit more... engaging. As it was, I think it missed the fun factor for me. But you had a complete entry in 48 hours, with nice sounds and graphics, and that on its own is quite an accomplishment. Well done! :tada:

Astro's Ladder by alec 2023-10-02T17:34:58Z

Didn't make it to the end, as I softlocked myself on "Put your hands up" by climbing onto the ladder accidentally in space, where I couldn't climb back down. Clever mechanics, once you figure them out! Shifting the ladder along its length took some figuring out, partially due to the strange keybindings, but this is a great little puzzle game with some tough challenges. Well done! :tada:

Tetrominated by Peter Jonsson 2023-10-02T18:15:23Z

To answer your initially posed question: NO, Tetris is not too easy! As terrible as I am at it, this is a fun twist on the usual gameplay. I _do_ think that even as a very novice player, I could offer some advice on tweaking the mechanics. The edges of the board, IMO, need the same amount of time "in window" that the center of the board gets. I'm not sure if this was an intentional design decision or a technical limitation of the implementation of the window... but either way, it frustrated me quite a bit to have nice clean lines in the middle, but not so much on the edge. Overall, a great entry that while being a bit of a frustration to play, is a nice twist on the original format. Well done! :tada: I scored ~1800, and didn't make it past the first level.

Blob Island by Mathis BRESSAUD 2023-10-02T20:03:15Z

Fun little puzzle game, with very cute graphics. The sounds did grate after a few levels, and I'd recommend looking into some simple tricks around modulating sounds that play frequently, so they sound slightly different but don't require multiple files. I did appreciate the animations as well, but especially for a movement-heavy game, I'd think about tightening the timing, so the player feels like they can execute their strategy at the same speed they come up with it. Overall, very solid entry, nicely done! :tada:

If I Fits, I Sits! by cheesepencil 2023-10-06T04:06:54Z

Really solid entry! A simple mechanic with excellent implementation, and nice time pressure and difficulty ramp. The only thing I felt like I missed was a clearer understanding of where exactly on the cat/box I was measuring to, but that's a nitpick. 10/10 would be a hefty chonk again! 1508 was my high score.

SURFSTRONAUT - Limited Space by RobbzenOne 2023-10-02T19:21:36Z

Very nice entry! I thought the mechanics came together well to create a tough-but-fair experience. I do think the movement of the surf board feels a bit "floaty", and I wished that the placement of my astronaut on the board affected the up/down speed. It would add another layer of strategy, and help me to feel like the "floaty" movement was my fault for not being at the correct end for maximum turn speed. The graphics are really superb, it's very cute and fun! Great job! :tada:

Train Trouble by Harmadillo 2023-10-10T19:26:34Z

I think this is a great idea, but the execution was a bit lacking. The UI especially needed some love, as managing my trains upgrades and repairs was painful... and it took me a while to figure out why I couldn't change my empty new piece to carry cargo (I didn't have enough money). The interaction with enemies and barriers was also just a bit dry, there wasn't much fun factor. Overall, I think there are some great systems here, but it could have been a lot more fun with some time spent on polish. Full game in 48 hours though, so well done! :tada:

BACK TO REALITY by koboldskeep 2023-10-02T21:57:57Z

Very nice entry! I enjoyed the simplicity of the mechanics, the concept art and story, and all of the flavor text. The music was great, too! I'd love to see more pikmin-style games, and I think this one has a ton of potential. I got 7 and 21 in 121 seconds on my best run. Well done! :tada:

Oregon Startrail by Cyber Puffin 2023-10-02T20:40:42Z

Very interesting entry that I think _could_ be a fun game, but for me got real bogged down in unclear systems and information. The furthest I made it was Mars. I think with careful attention to how and where information is presented, this could definitely be a fun and engaging spiritual successor to one of the all-time classics! You did an excellent job of taking the concept into the space age, keeping the same dry/dark humor, and introducing new mechanics. I just couldn't get to a place where I understood how all the moving parts fit together, and it seemed like a number of buttons just... didn't do anything. Overall, this is an excellent entry, and having localization for that many languages in 48 hours is just insane! :tada:

Dwarf Monastery by hotaloca 2023-10-02T17:45:03Z

This looks super interesting! Unfortunately, I'm unable to play it, as the UI doesn't fit in the embed window (either here or on your page), and in full-screen it is cut off on my 3440x1440 aspect ration. Comment back if you can address the UI scaling issues, I'd love to play it!

Space Shark Inc. by greenphox 2023-10-02T17:55:58Z

Great entry here! Cute graphics, fun and moody soundtrack. Fight the corporate oppressors! Good little story and just overall quite well put together. I managed to find all 5 endings, that last one was tricky to pull off correctly! :tada:

GOD DOES NOT PLAY DICE by Yuio 2023-10-08T03:17:17Z

I like the mechanics at play here. As others have mentioned, I think some more clarity around the specific outcomes of cards would be good to have. I'd also love to see this with some deck building mechanics, so the player has a say in the strategy outside of "I hope I get the cards I need". That said, the bones for a great PVE experience are definitely there, so nicely done! :tada:

Limited Space , Rod Humble, Ludum Dare 54 by rodvik 2023-10-02T20:45:10Z

@rodvik JSYK, according to the rules, games using AI generated assets aren't eligible for the compo, and must be submitted as a Jam entry. See here: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/54

Limited Dungeon by Vitaslayer 2023-10-08T03:25:53Z

Wow, the difficulty on this one... it's ROUGH! But this is a really nicely executed jam entry! It's smooth, most everything makes sense without text descriptions, it's just... punishingly difficult. I like it! Since you opted out of the audio category, I assume you didn't make the music or SFX? Some attributions for those would be great. Overall, nicely done! :tada:

Farmer Defence by Gleb_yakovlev 2023-10-08T03:32:57Z

Ow, ow ow ow... Ow. WUUUAH. Great on humor, but a mute button would've been nice to have. It seemed like there was a lot of inconsistent behavior around _where_ a tower could be placed, and without beefier options for towers, I genuinely could not make it past the 4th wave, even while spamming mining, gold towers, and mana towers. Also, the range of the towers was unclear, sometimes they'd have farmers right next to them, but wouldn't attack. I think the idea of two different resources and temporary towers is a great diversifier on the genre, but a lack of varied content and strategy really held it back. Nice and complete entry though, so well done there! :tada:

Deadlinez by mickey-sanchez 2023-10-10T19:12:59Z

I got to work... but it seems I wasn't very good at whatever this job is. 😅🤣 This is a solid concept, and it is _very_ well executed. The level of completeness and polish on display here is super impressive for a compo entry! I really enjoyed the card and menu animations, and the background was a fun flavor that made the whole thing feel more visually interesting. It would be nice if, after ending the workday, the time to move on while counting stars didn't grow linearly. A constant time for the counter to tick up would've been great. My only other quibble is the... well, sexual moan when you end the day. Great for tennis, not for this game, although it did crack me up. 🤣 Very well done! :tada:

Greasy Justice by kasmilus 2023-10-05T18:25:04Z

Thank you for the video and comments everyone, I was struggling to even figure out what to do after hitting the next wave button. As others have said, this is a _very_ interesting concept, and I think I could love it quite a bit! The art is gorgeous, the sfx and music is fun and sets the tone nicely, but the UI and difficulty curve... well, it's more of a cliff, at least for me. I couldn't get a higher grade than F. I also feel strongly that there are a lot of opportunities to use the map to present more significant strategic options for the player. Overall, a very impressive entry with a ton of potential. Nicely done! :tada:

Space Invearthion by mspecter 2023-10-08T03:42:54Z

The core gameplay loop here is pretty fun, but for me, the experience was really affected by the bugginess of the interaction with asteroids. Each of my runs ended because asteroids kept getting stuck to my gravity gun and I couldn't shoot them anymore. I really enjoyed the sprite work and audio though, those were very nicely done! I also totally understand how hard it is to get a physics game working as expected in the bounds of a jam. Overall, I think this has some interesting ideas you could explore further, and for the most part, it's a working game, so well done! :tada:

Running out of space by Tal28 2023-10-02T18:49:36Z

A very simple twist on a simple game, and it plays very well! I did miss the "splitting" mechanic from the classic game, but you took the theme and integrated it nicely with an existing experience. Nicely done! :tada: I got a high score of 82.

CaveBots by quasilyte 2023-10-03T18:36:54Z

Wow. This is easily the best entry I've played this jam. There's just so much here, and I find myself wondering how on earth you managed to do all this in 48 hours! You got music, sfx, _very_ decent artwork that calls back to the classics, and an RTS that really shakes up some pre-conceptions of the genre.

Personally, I found it incredibly frustrating to not be able to build the buildings I wanted on each spot. Most of my time was spent microing my leader unit to find new spots to build generators, and every time I found a turret/barricade spot in the back of my base, I cried inside.

I think that some support for "rally points" would also do quite a bit to help the fun factor. I don't want my generator units to run around outside my base, and trying to time the movement/production speed of Titans to get them to arrive simultaneously didn't feel like fun so much as a chore. I also did miss some of the standby mechanics of the genre, like queueing units for production, selectable units, and some sort of tech tree.

Seriously though, this is an incredible entry. I really hope you decide to take it further! And now, to go play some of the other base building and RTS games on your itch page...

Mediterranean Smuggling by TTKayttis 2023-10-05T18:53:43Z

10/10 would get investigated by Europol for my illegal smuggling ring again. In all seriousness, this is a heavy game, and while I wouldn't call it "fun", I think it conveys the gravity and hopelessness of a situation many real people have found themselves in. As a compo entry, it is fairly complete, with some good polish... but don't take it the wrong way when I say I wouldn't play it out in the wild. It's depressing. Nicely done, though.

LD55 — Summoning

Cosmic Misadventures by vidarn 2024-04-15T19:23:12Z

As someone who is _terrible_ at puzzle games, the gorgeous art and cute story kept me going through a couple that I really struggled with. But I rescued Klara! There was funny, there was heartwarming, and it was all told in such a unique (and extremely polished) way. No notes, well fucking done! :tada:

Pent8cle by samh 2024-04-15T19:27:28Z

Very moody, and very innovative. I'm sure for someone with larger brain than myself it would be a blast to figure out, but alas, I could not pass level 4. Obviously a solid entry by someone who deeply understands the puzzle game craft, just too difficult for the likes of me. Well done! :tada:

Mana Delve by Alex Mulkerrin 2024-04-15T16:47:48Z

A nice little idler game! I had to restart once, kept an eagle-eye on my mana count the second time around. I agree with others feedback: an extra indicator of the gain/loss per tick and color-coding the amounts would be great. I didn't understand what the orange tower was for, since there's no amount tracker for orange mana. I built one anyway before winning, not sure if it was necessary. Plenty of directions to continue with this concept, but overall, a solid entry. Well done! :tada:

Shape Defender by bzoo345 2024-04-15T20:26:01Z

You have the bones of a good survivors-like here. I don't think the lens mechanic really landed for me: as it is, it was better to just avoid the enemies and make sure I hit as many of my shots as I could. Perhaps the base damage could be lower, but I think the core of why I didn't use the lenses was because every enemy became a soup of mixed colors. If you could do something to address that, perhaps that mechanic would have a chance to shine, but I'm not sure how you'd accomplish that. Either way, you have a complete game here with SFX, and that alone is definitely worth commendation after being done in a weekend. Great job! :tada:

Necro Summoner by Vasco Freitas 2024-04-15T03:44:10Z

Nicely done! This is a very interesting take on the survivors-like formula, and I find myself wanting more of it. Well thought out, well executed, it's pretty enough and there's some ambiance here with the audio. A really fantastic entry, and I hope you decide to take the concept further!

Summoning Sun by Kamuniaft 2024-04-15T20:18:59Z

Wow, what an experience. An excellent case of "show, don't tell" when it comes to the mechanics, and I really felt that I was a part of something. The immersion here is really, _really_ excellent. Strong sound design, beautiful graphics, and a very cool and innovative core mechanic. Super impressive, well done! :tada: EDIT: RIP to the two girls lost in the process. Sorry it took me a minute to figure out what was going on.

Summonpalooza by tucan 2024-04-15T03:38:12Z

I enjoyed the artwork quite a bit! Mechanically, it's pretty simple, and there didn't seem to be much of a need for strategy. I did fairly well just clicking random summons. I think it could've benefited from a little more difficulty, and some more axes around which to strategize. But hey, it's a complete entry, so well done! :tada:

Summon the Armada by Andreas Decker 2024-04-15T04:00:58Z

Man, this puzzle "physics-former" is tough as hell, and lots of fun! It was so tough, in fact, that I gave up and broke through the asteroid wall to secure a win. My only gripe with the mechanics is that hitting an asteroid doesn't zero your momentum, and there's no "brake" button. From a technical standpoint though, this is well done! Interesting design, and some great choices on the puzzle mechanics. Juggling thrusters, "big screen" mode, and stealth was genuinely fun.

Side note: you should opt out of audio, as your game doesn't have any.

Nicely done entry! :tada:

Impatient God by dardasaba 2024-04-15T19:04:36Z

Wow, this is _really_ solid. Rare to find a well-written narrative-driven game that is so complete done by one person during a jam! Seriously, between the fantastic art, satisfying animations/transitions, great movement mechanics, and a fun little story, I'd hold this up as an example of what to aspire to when you make this kind of a game for a jam. I very much enjoyed myself! Finally passed on my 8th or so run with 18 seconds left. 10/10 would get eaten by an impatient deity again. Well done! :tada:

Wand's Way by Inidal Dev 2024-04-15T04:42:25Z

I really enjoyed the atmosphere of this one. Between the simple colors and graphics, the zen goal of the game, and the nice wind sound in the background, I could definitely see myself playing this to de-stress. With some tweaking of the sprites to make them a little softer and... I don't know, intentionally low-fi? This could definitely make some people happy on the app store. Anyway, this is a great entry, nicely done! :tada:

Little Armies by Aditigro 2024-04-15T19:45:48Z

This is a fun one! Most of the strategy is about gauging the strength of your group, and hunting the smallest groups is how I spent most of the time. It feels like the reward should scale with the risk, because otherwise you're punished for engaging larger groups. Aside from that one design flaw, this is an excellent concept! Technically, it did turn into a bit of a slideshow around the 3 minute mark. With some tweaking to the formula and some optimization, I could see this being a very enjoyable little strategy game on mobile. Well done! :tada:

TANKZ by Funday Games 2024-04-15T20:41:45Z

This is a fun little entry, and the gameplay there is solid. I liked the variety present in the upgrades, and would've loved to see that in the base building as well. I'm confused though: you haven't opted out of the audio and graphics category, and have an artist listed for your team... But you also say that the music, sfx, and models were all bought? What exactly was done by the team, and what was purchased? I can't really rate those categories if I don't know what the team actually made, and if the answer is nothing for a given category, then you should opt-out of ratings for it.

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Shootanoid by drludos 2018-04-24T06:39:16Z

I liked the direction you were headed in, but I felt like it would've been more fun if your shots had been additive instead of just setting direction and speed. Also, it felt like I spent a lot of time just idling, passively dodging balls while waiting for them to clean up the level. Overall, a good idea that could use some more mechanically interesting ideas.

Card And Run by bloodyaugust 2018-04-23T02:11:24Z

@matthew-roelle Thanks for the playing, and the idea! I wanted to do a "ghost projection" when the player hovered a card, but alas, ran out of time.

Card And Run by bloodyaugust 2018-04-23T02:33:00Z

Thank you all for the kind words and generous feedback! I'll add a mute button, as has been suggested by many... xD

@Moczan That's an excellent suggestion, the player should absolutely be further left.

@Slashee-the-Cow I'm glad you think so! I took this jam as an opportunity to improve my skill in that area, as I'm really quite the opposite of artistically inclined...

Card And Run by bloodyaugust 2018-04-26T03:54:11Z

@EkkoEkko If you're not even going to play the game but rate and comment to farm karma, then you can fuck right off.

Card And Run by bloodyaugust 2018-04-26T04:00:35Z

@pov Is there a report function for things like the above?

Card And Run by bloodyaugust 2018-04-30T07:32:53Z

@EkkoEkko Sorry about my knee-jerk response from earlier. I was much less gracious than I could have been. I don't begrudge you for not having English as a primary language, and I can understand that it is difficult to say the right things. I don't want to discourage you from participating in the compo in the future, but I also have a duty to protect the community (as do we all) from those that would look to abuse it. For a single-scene game with no music (and bad audio being the primary complaint in previous comments), it seemed like a feeble attempt to gain karma. I hope you understand that my abrasive language was a result of that misinterpretation.

Card And Run by bloodyaugust 2018-04-30T18:07:24Z

@polegar There absolutely are positions you can get yourself in that are un-winnable, but the idea is that you have to manage your hand to avoid those. I haven't done that math, but I suppose even with a well-managed hand, it is possible to get screwed by the randomness inherent in the card draw mechanic. Thanks for your feedback!

@Torak-Whiteleopard I'm glad you enjoyed the game! Indeed, I wish I had more time to set a mood with better audio as well, but as you mentioned... time limits are a bitch sometimes.

CCG Shoot 'em Up by Moczan 2018-04-26T05:26:55Z

I ended with a score of 430! A very solid entry: no noticeable bugs, good UI, solid implementation of mechanics. I felt like it was most in need of a little more "juice"; some sound, more options like bullet hell early on (and maybe tougher enemies to compensate), and something to spice up the visuals a bit. Extremely impressive for a first time entry, you avoided the traps of over-scoping and stuck to your idea. Well done!

Harvest Royale by neverautomatic 2018-04-24T06:50:19Z

I enjoyed the concept quite a bit! With more diversifying gameplay elements, this could be a really fun game: as it stands, it was the perfect length. I liked the extra tension of the encroaching blight, but I'd really love to see some battle and some royale in play. Also, some interesting offset of textures when moving diagonally causes the tiles to separate, which was kind of distracting.

Travis Beacon Teaches Fighting by niksg 2018-04-24T06:59:55Z

I really enjoyed the artwork! I'm not a huge fan of typing games, and would've liked to have seen more of the fighting aspect at play, as opposed to just a skin. Also, committing to the fighting theme with an arena and the trimmings that go with it would've definitely scored some points.

OLEK by Ethan Allwood 2018-04-24T05:39:43Z

Any game that lets me play as Gambit is a win in my book. Really though, solid entry, and great interpretation of the theme. Very fun to play, which is a big win. The challenge also felt good: enough to be difficult and make me want to get better. I wish there was a little more UI interactivity on the between level scene, didn't realize that it was a multi-choice until quite a few rounds in. Also, it was frustrating to be stuck with a bunch of shields and not be able to q, and that keys were random as opposed to matched in number and color with chests present in the level. Overall, really well done! :v:

Pseudonarrative Dissonance by Baby Dino Herd 2018-04-30T05:07:48Z

Not sure how it fits the theme, and the text definitely could be more readable (and size better for larger screens), but otherwise this is a great entry! I really enjoyed the music, and thought that the overall mood and visualscape was a lot of fun! Really, I just wanted more, but this is a great starting point for something larger, well-polished, and about the amount I'd expect from an LD entry. Nicely done!

Turn-Based Invaders from Space! by HacksawUnit 2018-04-24T06:23:27Z

Very solid entry! The UI, graphics, sound, idea, and general feel of the game were all extremely well done and coherent. I did seem to die inexplicably every time, and I don't think it's beatable without forward and back movement, which really hurts the fun factor (to know you can't advance, that is).

Ryth by Kataware 2018-04-23T02:29:26Z

Wow, you have some serious musical talent! Really enjoyed your creations. The game played really well, even in the web, which is hard to do with a rhythm game (so extra points for that). I'd have loved to see a cleaner interface: all the pixelly images kind of distracted from the experience. Overall, extremely well done!

Turn-Basedball by Blueman 2018-04-24T06:07:02Z

I really liked the intention of this entry, but as you're aware, there are a number of bugs that are fairly frustrating to play around. More attention to the setting, layout, and sound would have been nice as well. Overall, I liked the idea and found it fun when it worked, but sometimes that time limit has a way of sneaking up on you.

Wild Cards by Adtberp 2018-04-26T06:13:14Z

A solid first 3D game! I enjoyed how you went about merging the common survival game mechanics into something that made sense in card form, very well done there. I also really appreciated the card art, and would have loved to see that same cleaner aesthetic in the game itself. It would have also been good to get more of a "forest"-y feel from the sounds, and maybe have some low key music that changes with the time of day, when you get attacked, etc. The biggest issue for me, however, was the unnecessary waiting. I would have rated this game higher on fun if instead of making the player wait so long while he collected resources, which in this game was totally passive, I could have had the same experience in 5 minutes instead of 20. But again, great job, hope to see you in 42!

Hyper Beat Engine by hypersnow 2018-04-24T05:34:22Z

Really enjoyed this entry! Thought it was extremely well polished, and loved both the music and the art. You really found your style and nailed it, was one of those that I wanted to get better at (and did, marginally). The minimap felt a little useless because it was just a smaller view of what you saw anyway, and I felt that the track could have been a different color/background than the... not-track? Also, not sure if you intended this, but you can button mash to get boosts. Maybe a reset on incorrect arrow key press? Overall, very solid entry, and enjoyed it a lot.

Puck Off by Matthew Roelle 2018-04-23T02:18:58Z

This is really a fantastic entry! The "Puck Off" is particularly enjoyable. I'm impressed at the setup and level of polish. Well done! My one gripe is similar to your feedback on my game: I'd love to better be able to predict where my puck people are headed... But again, perhaps that's part of the skill.

I enjoyed your entry, and the core mechanics are fun and interesting, but it lacked in visual feedback for the player. I wasn't sure about what exactly hitting enter was doing for me, or when I should've been hitting it, but there's a great game to be developed further here. Heartache by Oivin F 2018-04-24T07:27:39Z

For some reason, I spent like twenty minutes playing this, well into the territory where they died instantly to my souped up hitscan towers (level 61, 800 ups on some towers). Definitely could use a balance tweak, but really, this game is great fun! I'd love to see some handcrafted levels, more music/sfx diversity, and proper screen scaling: but make no mistake, it sucked me in and I really did enjoy it!

Love Is A Battlefield by F1Krazy 2018-04-23T05:16:24Z

Took a minute to figure out the z/x controls in the menu. It would have been nice to see the other side of the conversation; maybe add in pick up lines when enemies are killed or something? Good execution of bullet hell mechanics. Difficulty rating felt good.

Nmbr Krncher by gamebuilder 2018-04-30T05:19:46Z

I can see this being fun, but as it is, you can just down arrow thru practically the whole game. Play some more with the level design, have some more flashy effects and something visually interesting. Also feel that the first drop shouldn't lose you a point, but hey. You have a solid idea here, and with better execution of things around the core mechanics, I think this has potential. Keep working at it!

Hidden Affection by fluffpuff13 2018-04-24T08:14:22Z

Overall, this is a great first entry! I like the idea quite a bit, and the execution of that concept is done in a solid way. There are a few bugs (have to restart to re-try due to getting stuck at the initial "next day" screen), but they don't get in the way of gameplay. Took me a couple of tries, but eventually that poor human could not withstand my romantic wiles. Also, can I be eater of pancakes at my day job please?

Rated mood for 5, due to my rage at the inability to even pass the first boss. xD

Seriously though, this is a good entry. I liked the graphics and music quite a bit, though you do feel a bit slow for how punishing the boss(es?) is. The screen shake is also just a bit much for my tastes. I also question how these genres are even a little bit incompatible. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: Overall, something to be proud of and I'm mad I couldn't get further.
