I found it hard to control. I think the small particle flying by contrasting to the rock passing by slower made it hard for me the understand the frame of reference/inertia for the character. The planet in the background didn't looked like it was the background at first, but I got used to it.

Very nice entry! I thought the mechanics came together well to create a tough-but-fair experience. I do think the movement of the surf board feels a bit "floaty", and I wished that the placement of my astronaut on the board affected the up/down speed. It would add another layer of strategy, and help me to feel like the "floaty" movement was my fault for not being at the correct end for maximum turn speed. The graphics are really superb, it's very cute and fun! Great job! :tada:

The astronaut looked awesome! As for gameplay, the controls was a bit hard at first, but it grows on you.

Wasn't able the master jumping off the board, but managed to enjoy it nonetheless. Loved the sound effects, and was positively suprised that there was a public leaderboard. Great job and congrats on submission!

As some others have already mentioned, would've loved to see the background move a bit as well so that it would be more clear that the character was moving. It does get better later in the game, though.

It is nice example of formula 'easy to start hard to master' and I would play this game like with 99999999 km/h speed with 9999 meteorites flying right on me, it would be cool gift for hardcore fans.

A success

@thebmxeur @bloodyaugust @onsson @zanagi @khmhmm @kingtuning Thank you very much for your feedback and constructive critics :slight_smile:

Plays so smooooooooth! A bit hard to control once you get too much sideways momentum - as you warn in the description! -, but that just reminded me of real-life board sports. Very cool and fun to play, kudos! Loved the online leaderboard too.

Signed: Highscore #8.

:star::star::star::star::star: for innovation  I wonder how did you come up with an idea of astronaut chained to a surfboard

For me the controls were a bot to hard but I still had fun playing it. Thanks!

tankou 2023-10-04 15:45

@ditam @owca Thank you so much for your appreciation!

@owca we brainstomerd about 1 hour and came up with this haha :D

Fun game! Graphics are great, controlling the board took a little bit to figure out. Maybe a little more visual feedback showing that the board is going up or down? Like a little arrow that blips in and fades out quickly, something subtle. Great work

Interesting idea, but I'm not sure the jumping mechanics really worked out well. Out of the dense asteroid field jumping is not needeed, and inside them it just makes you hit the other asteroid.

narudgi 2023-10-05 05:15

Love the arcade mood and unique mechanic, I think this is precious! Nice game!

yerkwell 2023-10-05 16:07

Cute graphics, fun and challenging game mechanics.

The game boasts some adorable graphics, but let's talk controls, they felt a tad clunky, and it makes me wonder if that's by design to push players into using that tether. Balancing fuel and health is a real juggling act, especially when you're only getting fuel drops. It'd be a lot more forgiving if there were some health drops thrown in the mix. As you progress, those asteroids start multiplying like crazy. It sort of makes the tether feel less like a lifesaver and more like a headache, especially because the surfing controls aren't as smooth as they could be. It's a big deal because it can make you forget if you're pushing the right button for the right direction. Some visual feedback would definitely help with that.

Really hard to control (maybe try to use mouse to control direction of astronaut? Just a thought) And i could go down on the edge and just surf in space) Great graphic, great idea) Thank you for your job!

jukepoks1 2023-10-11 20:51

I liked it, nice touch to add a highscore system!

It's not so easy to control. not sure what moving forwards of backwards on the board do?

jumping though seems to get you out of trouble or into one.

knightoftheday 2023-10-12 11:26
