LD54 — Limited Space

CrystalLine by graebor 2023-10-14T09:25:43Z

Innovative twist on the classic match-3 concept, perfectly in line with the theme. The game's emphasis on creating combos to clear gems within the limited play space is simple but not as easy to master. The music and overall design add to the enjoyable experience. I see myself playing it lot on mobile. Well done! Easily one of my top-rated games overall.

windowkill by torcado 2023-10-03T14:15:53Z

Spotted this on Twitter, and it lived up to my expectations. Impressive presentation, and it nails the theme. The sound and visuals, though simple, fit perfectly. The shrinking window and bullet dynamics add depth. A clever concept! It's my most replayed game :D. However, I haven't beaten the boss yet; it gets overwhelming with its attacks and multiple enemies to deal with at the same time.

windowkill by torcado 2023-10-04T14:53:01Z

nq0XGgNorR.png Played the game a few times again , it sure get fun once u know which upgrades to get. I love the difficulty curve. Didn't lag for me. Controls and speed of gameplay felt good as well. Didn't get what the 3 upgrades when u defeat the boss suppose to do.

Cranedemonium by kuggenhoffen 2023-10-06T18:52:56Z

Playing the game felt like being a crane operator, which is a unique experience. The simple graphics were a nice touch, but the gameplay felt a bit slow for me, especially since precision is crucial. Unfortunately, I never managed to finish any job before the timer ran out. One suggestion I have is to make the shadows, especially the one under the crane, darker. It would enhance the visual clarity. Adding music and sound effects could greatly improve the overall experience and motivation. I'm envisioning a slow-paced piano and drum tune to complement the gameplay

Gone Fishin' by cdunham 2023-10-04T20:50:40Z

A relaxing game with soothing music. The theme alignment is a bit unclear. I appreciate the gradual difficulty increase with the fish. It would be nice to have a way to deposit trash somewhere.

Worm Out by Kyrios 2023-10-09T09:23:49Z

Well done for crafting that eerie atmosphere and claustrophobic level design; it really amps up the creep factor. However, I did notice that mouse control starts to feel a bit wonky over time, making it tough to handle, especially when enemies can one-shot you. It would have been helpful to have clearer indicators of those pesky worms closing in. Also, that worm on the game over screen zipping straight towards me in an already low-visibility game just feels a bit unfair."

Void Hunter by GreenPig 2023-10-04T21:12:14Z

It took a while to understand the objective, but I like the concept. Currently, the gameplay feels too repetitive when trying to reach the center. Some additional feedback in the attack animation with sound, screen shake would improve the experience.

Give Me Money by kairuma 2023-10-03T11:22:33Z

The initial moments are definitely enjoyable as you strive to unlock more content. However, after a while, the game feels stagnant, lacking incentives to keep going. Adding more machines could provide motivation to continue playing.

The Incredible Trader! by Luis Carli 2023-10-06T13:25:59Z

Cute game love the art style and characters. Its more of a problem solving game regarding what to trade. I think the inventory management or space management takes a secondary role as other have pointed out. Well done on the execution !!

SURFSTRONAUT - Limited Space by RobbzenOne 2023-10-06T11:38:08Z

The game boasts some adorable graphics, but let's talk controls, they felt a tad clunky, and it makes me wonder if that's by design to push players into using that tether. Balancing fuel and health is a real juggling act, especially when you're only getting fuel drops. It'd be a lot more forgiving if there were some health drops thrown in the mix. As you progress, those asteroids start multiplying like crazy. It sort of makes the tether feel less like a lifesaver and more like a headache, especially because the surfing controls aren't as smooth as they could be. It's a big deal because it can make you forget if you're pushing the right button for the right direction. Some visual feedback would definitely help with that.

The Intruder by Willby 2023-10-03T14:35:53Z

Adore the eerie, spooky atmosphere of the game. The music and limited visibility enhance the overall experience. After three playthroughs, escaping became easier once you understand the monster's behavior. The proximity meter's tension-building, even when the monster isn't very close, is a great touch. I tried completing all tasks before reaching the escape pod, which made it easier. To heighten tension, consider activating other machines only from the escape room. Excellent job !!

Carrotiles by ValentinWB 2023-10-06T12:40:47Z

Cute graphic and music. Love you take on the theme. Requires lot of rearranging , found the puzzles difficult as its not my usual type of game. Well done !!

Voyd by amarokczukay 2023-10-03T11:12:15Z

Great concept, requires careful bullet management. Well done! Variable enemy health could add depth, and maybe make the play space scaling a bit less punishing.

GridBlocked by KillerB 2023-10-09T08:57:39Z

I like this interpretation of limited space. Inventory management is fun but the fun ends too quick. Well done !!

Lightbringer by Kabura 2023-10-04T15:54:48Z

The art, audio, and overall game feel are well-executed Well done !! . However, in terms of game progression, there's a lack of challenge. It might be beneficial to introduce map objectives that require the player to complete tasks and move around, preventing camping in one spot.

Highly Specialized Troops by Erivas_Soulares 2023-10-03T18:20:58Z

The concept is interesting, and there's a lot of potential, especially considering the popularity of games like 2048. It would be interesting to see how design and ranking evolve as more units are stacked. However, there seem to be some bugs where enemy units start and die, leaving lanes empty. This can lead to winning matches without needing to stack powerful units. Sending troops to all lanes often resulted in victory in most matches.

Gap Dango Shooter by zundou 2023-10-03T14:42:50Z

Adorable game that perfectly fits the theme. The cheerful music adds to the charm. Would be nice to see more level and iteration of the idea.

Let Me Breathe! by 247gamestudio 2023-10-03T17:36:23Z

Unique concept using limited space as zones. Suggest displaying current oxygen outside O2 zones and adding an indicator for new O2 balloons spawn location u can run too. Upgrades seem to focus more on retention of O2 zones rather than player strength and survivability . Over time, enemies can become overwhelming as ur not doing much dmg to clear them out. The amount of information that u have to retain can be a bit too much. Well done !!

Bloody Barrels! by Lucas Vaudaine 2023-10-06T19:05:57Z

This game had a humorous spin on the theme, which I appreciated. However, it might have been even more engaging if there were additional tasks besides just grabbing a key. The brief appearance of the little fire added some excitement and tension, which was good, but having it appear more strategically as the game progressed could have built even more tension . I found the ending a bit anticlimactic, but overall, great job to the team!

@raassh23 Thank you for playing the game and feedback. Ill tweak the spawn value to find a sweet spot. I didn't want it to be too easy to get them hence a lil difficult initially .

Down the spiral by Ahbee_Studio Nex-us 2023-10-03T17:42:42Z

@marti-mayolas Thank you for the feedback, glad you liked the game. Yeah despawn time needs more tweaking. also if i shud increase their number initially.

Down the spiral by Ahbee_Studio Nex-us 2023-10-03T17:46:51Z

@erivas-soulares Thank you for playing the game and feedback. Each level was suppose to have its own Unique boss but I over scoped and spent too much time on other aspects of the game . Will be working on better bosses types for the next update.

Down the spiral by Ahbee_Studio Nex-us 2023-10-03T17:55:31Z

Thanks for the feedback, @lucas-vaudaine. I acknowledge the issues with boss fights, especially in terms of cheesing the boss , with limited time for adjustments i had to move to the next task. A third attack pattern with indicators for each attack is a priority for future development. Glad you liked the overall concept.

Down the spiral by Ahbee_Studio Nex-us 2023-10-03T17:59:33Z

That's a good idea @kuggenhoffen , I do play a sound when u pick a key but there is no indication of its purpose unless u read the description. Thinking of adding Shield percent reduction indicator in the coming update. Thank you for the feedback. Happy you like the game :D

Down the spiral by Ahbee_Studio Nex-us 2023-10-06T11:07:27Z

@kairuma @tankou @luis-carli Thank you for playing the game and appreciate the feedback. Will be changing the spawn time on shield drops and more balances.

Down the spiral by Ahbee_Studio Nex-us 2023-10-06T11:12:03Z

@miraculousmelon thank you for playing the game . I should have added more visual feedback on what to do besides the description. The black read is suppose to be the void , Ill increase the grace area where u can still be alive near the void, and it probably need more work to distinguish itself, your feedback is appreciated.

Down the spiral by Ahbee_Studio Nex-us 2023-10-06T11:15:11Z

Thank you for the suggestion and feedback @mncc8337 . I couldn't quite figure out how to create a proper dash/dodge so right now its kinda a speed boost. As many pointed out blue keys disappear too fast and something will try to balance first.

Down the spiral by Ahbee_Studio Nex-us 2023-10-07T17:16:34Z

Thank you for the playing the game and feedback @voithos . If you happen to slip off the edge, you'll find yourself teleported to one of the designated respawn points. It seems like providing additional visual cues for this mechanic could make it more intuitive. I apologize for any disorientation caused by this. As for the music, it's worth noting that it's part of a music bundle(hence not being rated), and will look into static issues you mentioned.

Boxed In by raassh23 2023-10-03T10:57:24Z

Fun and straightforward game .It fits the theme well ,easy to get but the difficulty ramps up quickly, love the minimalistic art style.

Sprinttech by JanOG 2023-10-06T19:24:11Z

It's refreshing to come across a game developed in Unreal Engine for the jam. The initial levels were enjoyable, but I noticed that as the game progressed, the focus on parkour seemed to diminish. Specifically, the level with the yellow half-disc at the beginning proved to be quite frustrating. After wall sliding, you're required to execute a precise hop onto closely spaced boxes, which is made even more challenging by laser box pursuing you from behind. This game definitely has potential, and it could benefit from more responsive and tighter movements, currently the jump feels too floaty.

Blashout by mncc8337 2023-10-04T21:23:38Z

I like the way space gradually becomes limited over time; it's a clever use of the theme that's well reflected in both gameplay and visuals

Limited Space Game by Uni Isnor 2023-10-03T15:11:49Z

Great concept with dead enemies blocking space. Adding varied enemy attacks and bosses would enhance gameplay. Reached level 15. Suggest replacing upgrades once we max out the suit at 6/6. Well done!

appendage bedlam by moldovanul 2023-10-24T16:33:04Z

Visually, the game had a cool and spooky vibe that I enjoyed. A backstory could have added more depth. Character movement felt appropriately swift. Adding visual feedback for attacks would enhance the experience. I had trouble understanding the attack mechanism; it seemed to be triggered by pressing the mouse button down, which created an annoying attack sound, maybe a swipe attack would have worked better. Overall, a promising concept to explore further. Well done!
