Pretty fun game, very difficult managing speed when flying into an encounter but definitely potential there. I didn't greatly feel the limited space, but really enjoyed this project. Good work!

Hey great job putting something together for the compo. Neat idea, I felt like I had a really hard time jamming the cargo ships but I can see what you were going for. Keep it up!

manderdander 2023-10-04 05:39

I thought this was fun. I like the space pirate setting, the hyperjumping mechanic, and the feeling of amassing wealth/resources. However, properly jamming the cargo ships was a little tough, and the gameplay itself was a little samey after a few in-game days. I thought it was impressive for 48 hours though.

Very well game, i like atmosphere in the game, i remember a Cowboy Bebop or Space Wars, very nice, i think if this game move to 3D u got a big fan group or big count views in YouTube, well work.

I really like just to control the ship and visualisation of how drives working. Very neat game, congradulations!

Wow the gameplay possibility are amazing, however as mention in the other comments,it's a bit too much. A bit to difficult to manage everthing for me (mouvement, shoot, jam ..), maybe a longer jam system. Amazing job for a ludum dare, great job.

Wow! You deserve *far more* ratings - and your game to be PLAYED! Do you know why?!?! - it's SUPER addictive - it's SUPER clear what you need to do - a LOT of games fail to do just that! - this initial tutorial is GOOD - it's easy to build a strategy - or it is clear that you need to follow certain steps to be able to beat the cargo ships! - yes, it's hard, but I find this with the above a good combination!!

Please, please, please - UPDATE your cover image! It's misleadingly LOW quality!! You have a *better*.. **refined** game! Make use of that! You have taken special care for very sweet details! The thrusters, the astronomical units jumps (WOW!.. love it!!!) .. do not let the poor cover image fool others!

GREAT job! You have taken and wrapped space travel into a neat package!!!

A fun, impressively complete little game.

Quite amazing that you managed to complete this pocket sized space sim for a compo game. Flying around without friction takes getting used to but it feels correct for this type of game. There is tactics to figure out, skills to improve and it feels bigger than it actually is because of all the warping and chasing cargo ships around.

I assume there was more types of encounters/upgrades planned, since currently there is no incentive to go for more than one ship at a time, it's just asking for trouble. But I can imagine it can get improved further, for sure.

I also have weird audio stuttering in the web version and the desktop version just crashes on close, but I don't think either of that is directly your fault xD

seurimas 2023-10-09 02:11

@powerofsin The audio stutter is indeed beyond my control, very sorry! Thanks for checking it out. I really thought it wouldn't read as "complete", but I guess I fit everything that needed to be in there. And actually the ships drop better loot when there's more of them, but I didn't communicate that well/at all. If I had had more time, I'd have included some upgrades that actually changed the gameplay more meaningful (auto turrets, extra turrets, other weapons, probably). Or, yeah, different enemy ship types.

@aweskybear You're very kind! I'll stage a little bit of an action shot for the cover image, thanks for the tip!

@manderdander Thanks for checking it out! Yeah, I probably should have made it 5 or 7 days instead, because it gets old pretty quick, haha.

Hey really great game! Really impressive what you've done in such a short timeframe. Took me a while to get a handle on maneuvering, but after that it was fun trying to maximize my booty. Great work!

quoclon 2023-10-10 04:59

I liked the ship movements, and the graphics of the ship and space caught my eye when scrolling past your entry. I was a little confused about where I was supposed to go (I kept flying away with the hyperdrive). I liked how the stars helped create a sense of movement. Overall, well done for a weekend!

First and foremost, this game is _fun_. It's hard to make a working game in 48 hours. It's even harder to make a _fun_ game in 48 hours, so really well done there! :D I have some nitpicks with the UI (please make indicators for other items around the screen), and in general navigating local space and being able to tell how fast I was moving was fairly difficult which some more background elements could help with, but seriously, well done here. There are so many avenues for you to take this, and I really hope you do decide to expand on the concept! Nicely done! :tada:

loved the rose directional for traveling. Made getting around nice and easy and intuitive. Kinda felt like no mans sky when he was describing looking up at a star, clicking on it, and going there. :-)

gobigredfan 2023-10-18 10:42

This is a good execution of an idea I've hoped to see for years, because it reminds me very strongly of the first phase of gameplay in Heat Signature (before you board the ships and it becomes a stealth puzzler). I loved Heat Signature but I always thought that aspect of it was undercooked, and here you've implemented a similar core system and also expanded it in some smart ways with other mechanics. If that game wasn't a reference point for you already it might be worth looking at to fine-tune the feel of the ship movement, especially during longer distance travel.

seurimas 2023-10-18 13:41

@gobigredfan I actually forgot Heat Signature even had a ship part! I'll have to check it out again and feel the difference. Thanks for the feedback!
