LD38 — A Small World

Enlarge your planet ! by LeReveur 2017-05-01T01:15:49Z

I like the concept, but was confused about what I was supposed to be doing and how each part contributed to the planet getting bigger. Improving the win-condition explanation, and game-play explanation would greatly improve this game.

Tub of War by quill18 2017-05-01T06:13:18Z

Amazing. Loved watching the Twitch Stream and watching a master at work, lol. Gameplay has tonnes of depth/objectives/mechanics. I love being able to hook things towards the boat. The variety of enemies kept me engaged, and I loved seeing their bodies strewn about the bottom of the tub. Honestly, no criticisms, 5 across the board. Great job!

Would love to get the feedback of a game-making veteran like yourself if you get the time:

GlobeTrotter by Hammers 2017-05-01T02:03:15Z

I like the concept... kinda like inception or something. I got pretty confused on the second level... and wasn't able to figure it out, but I'll come back to this game. The controls could be a bit more responsive (I had trouble picking up the globes unless I was really pressing into them). Overall good submission.

Abaddon by Geckoo1337 2017-05-12T02:20:59Z

Awesome. Graphics were stunning. I don't know how you got the effect but it was super cool. The projectiles felt nice shooting them, but wish the burst shot had a bit more oompf. The learning curve seemed good, though the goat skulls felt like the only ones doing real damage to me. Honestly, the leaderboards were an amazing touch. Overall good addition.

Would love if you were able to provide some feedback on my game:

World Destroyer by Move127 2017-05-01T04:52:46Z

I found the learning curve on this game to be very well paced. I liked the puzzles, and the combination of bombs/bullets was neat. The levels were laid out in a way where I had a sense of what needed to be accomplished. I had a couple of glitches where the charater would jump very high, and then much lower, on the same level and inconsistently. However, overall I would say this was a solid submission.

Yet Another Zombie Wave Shooter by urfbound 2017-05-01T02:07:50Z

Hey guys, despite the generic concept, it's awesome that you did something your interested in! Your menu screen is ridiculous (in a good way). Your audio is borderline trolling, and hilarious (pew pew!). Did someone voice record for that audio? Couple of small bugs: When the zombies die, and turn red, the bullets deflect rather than dissapearing when they hit. By Wave #3 (I was playing on WebGL) the game bogged down so hard it was unplayable. Otherwise, thanks for the short but fun experience. Cheers!

SLINGSHOOT by chaoclypse 2017-05-01T05:53:06Z

Man, what a great entry. I think the concept is simple, intuitive, and so fun. The graphics were gorgeous, and it's the right kind of hard to keep you trying to get harder score. One challenge for me was trying to predict what would happen if the shots went to a certain part of the gravity (but learning this was part of the fun. One of my favorite things about this game is the UI. I love how everything is in the center of the screen. Overall a fantastic entry.

Would appreciate feedback on mine as well:

Rocket Roller Space Polo by pkenney 2017-05-03T05:19:34Z

This game was on point! Can't believe this is a compo entry. I'm a sucker for simple mechanics that lead to complex gameplay. Was able to beat the computer on first round, but it was close... then realized there are more levels. I appreciate that I had to play that 'normal' round first. Graphics were solid, gravity felt gratifying to maneuver in. It took a little while to figure out that the rockets were directional based on mouse position, but I found out pretty quick. Everything felt very tight control wise too. Only blip I saw was that the robot got stuck once, and couldn't move until I blasted him away. Otherwise a solid contender for the compo.

Would love feedback on my game if your ever get time after sifting through all these great responses to your game!

Virus Riot by Cliff Lee CL 2017-05-01T01:44:01Z

Played it by myself, but honestly one of my favorite entries so far. I love the simplicity of gameplay, and caught on very quickly. The powerups are a nice touch too. Graphics were on point. I think one of my favorite parts was that you could play in the background during the menu screen. That really helped me get my bearings before jumping in.

Would love if you guys checked out my game and provided feedback: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/sling-ship-search-for-a-small-world

Ragdoll Wars by bwalter 2017-05-12T02:52:35Z

Great compo entry. Music was solid (but liked the options to turn off), and intuitive controls. Loved the theme/art, though I was having a bit of glitching - like background elements popping in front of the character.(I overlooked it though because it was minor). It was pretty hard to control, but that's part of the fun! I kind of wish the weapon ended up back in your hand upright when you grab it, but that's a small detail. Also, I found the character parts laying on the ground visually pleasing, but annoying because they got in the way a lot. One of my favourite moments is when you connect with the opponent and that sonic boom way appears. It gave the the attack/impact so much weight. Would love to hear how you developed that effect!

Would love if you were able to take a few minutes to feedback/rate my game Sling Ship:

Small Survival by Fengol 2017-05-01T05:47:55Z

I was confused about the objective at first. There wasn't any visual feedback to let me know if I was hitting the zombie with a rock or not. The inventory was overflowing, but I wasn't even sure what to do with it. I like the core concept of you being in the center of the area, and having to collect stuff to defend yourself, but it'll take some work to get it more intuitive and more visually engaging.

Please have a look at my game to see how bad it is as well...

Asymmetry by ChuiGum 2017-05-02T03:33:18Z

Rad. I think having a good tune is very important, and felt like it didn't get boring or repetitive. I liked the process of discovering what each area did. I wasn't sure how to use that tactically, but was kind of dodging into one zone where I had an advantage (or so I thought) and shot into other zones where I figured the enemy was still weak. Good aesthetic overall.

That's the first HTML + Javascript game I've seen so far in the Jam, and since I've used both tools in the past, I'd be curious about how you went about implementing those technologies. Post-Mortem would be awesome, or dev video.

Good submission! My only small gripe was the resolution I was forced to play it in the web version. Am curious why that decision was made? Tech limitations? Maintain Aspect ratio? Aesthetic?

When you get the chance would love feedback from someone like yourself who's completed a few games in the past (checked out your website) and has some insight:

42-Mikronikus by Cambryx 2017-05-01T01:55:43Z

Really good! The tutorial is amazing, and maybe one of the best I've seen so far. It both told the story and explained the gameplay. The graphics were perfect. Love the eyes that followed the mouse. Controls felt great. Pacing felt good too. The rockets didn't seem to do much aside from increase your 'score', so I wonder if they could be exploration ships being launched that fly to other colonies or something. Overall great game. Gonna recommend it, and one of my favorites so far.

If you guys get a chance please check out my game at: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/sling-ship-search-for-a-small-world

Come on, barbarian! by uchiro 2017-05-19T03:25:02Z

Love the theme, and the QWOP movement integration. The movement controls didn't feel intuitive really though, but I'm not sure what you could have done to improve that. The sword play felt a bit clunky too. I think if the sword had more weight it would be much improved (because you could easily generate a downswing as well). Overall it was excellent, and I'd come back for more if the combat was a bit more fleshed out. Cheers!

Nervous Breakdown by bradleysmith 2017-05-01T03:39:54Z

Really liked the main character's animations and the graphics. The chomping, the tongue wagging in the back, all added to the atmosphere. Having an animation for the flies dying would have been icing on the cake; and when the glass was biten. It also could have ramped up in speed/intensity a bit. Overall was a good 5 minutes spent. Would chomp again.

Dr. M Little's Planet Mass Overdrive by slimabob 2017-05-02T03:23:17Z

What a relaxing and engaging experience. The game felt polished, but a little short (better than the other way around). I really liked the audio; both the background music and the text-sounds were highlights. For whatever reason I kept noticing the words start to appear on a line, and then jump down to the next. It was a bit distracting, but it also made me wonder if the text placement is dynamic based on screen size or something. I also liked the story, and how the characters kept popping in throughout the game.

The game felt very peaceful, and I would love to play longer and with more levels. I was surprised that crashing into the Sun was the objective. I liked the outro, and like the particle effects of the black hole. Additionally, since I'm new to Unity, I was amazing at how you could almost have a cutscene with the characters/music at the end. Would love to know how that was done.

Only wish that since it was in Unity that you would have published to WebGL (yours is the only game I have bothered downloading so far. I actually saw your post on Twitter!)

Overall great 5 star

Ark of the new world by jojocanard 2017-05-01T02:12:54Z

Great concept, and easy to pick up and play (a big plus in my books). Audio was a bit loud, but pleasent enough. Good pacing, and liked all the chaos that ramped up and things went on. Great submission overall.

Game of Worlds by Shurty 2017-05-01T01:39:43Z

Hey, I liked the splash screen graphics, and graphics overall, but was a bit confused as to what was going on. I liked having the other guys follow me around, and I wish I had more time to find the exit. The first time night hit I was killed immediately. The second time I survived a bit longer, but it wasn't clear if i was doing damage to the enemy or the other way around. Also, some friends didn't morph into enemies at night, and instead just kept saying hello man when I clicked on them. I noticed there was a map back on your Ludum Dare page, which would have helped navigate the level a bit. Again, awesome graphics! Good job guys!

Core Fall by Pickler 2017-05-02T04:15:49Z

Man, what a great entry. One of the best I've played so far. Love the graphics, the audio, and the idea is hilarious. The first time I played I just broke through the surface of China, and so I thought that was the game, and was pleasantly surprised when I went flying the second time playing.

As a Canadian myself, I loved the flying flag in the beginning. Also, appreciated the gif if this game being played on a homebrew arcade system (is that a Raspberry Pi setup?). I'm very involved in my local Makerspace community, and love video games too, so you're getting mad points.

Overall felt polished. Only small points might be it's a bit hard to anticipate/react to what's coming up. Wonder if some kind of indicator could be useful. Very well done for Compo entry. Probably my favourite so far.

p.s. If chat ever gets going, or if you're on twitter, would love a message to hear more on why SuperTiled was your go to for level design. I've used Tiled before and struggled to really use it well. Wondering if it's worth the $35 for SuperTiled. @Brodengunn on twitter, or else I'll check back in the comments later.

Core Fall by Pickler 2017-05-03T04:38:41Z

@pickler Thanks for the details on SuperTiled. It's going to be my first $10+ purchase on the asset store, as it sounds like it's gonna save me time in future development. Checked out your imgur photos for the cabinet. Beautiful setup, and your boy seems very happy with it. I was surprised to see such nice computer components in the back (figured you'd tossed a Raspberry Pi in there or something). Very impressive! Good work again on your Ludum Dare entry! Take care :)

Moped Mayhem by Meenners 2017-05-12T03:08:55Z

Had a consistent theme between the art and the music. I thought it was going to be more paperboy like, so I was trying to toss the papers onto the houses (realized later I got more points for hitting the cars). Might have even preferred it with more objectives like tossing paper onto the porches, but avoiding hitting people or cars. The main menu was really compelling, and the achievements looked great popping up in game, and were a nice to check out after each try. Great work!

Sim Sperm by nbilyk 2017-05-02T03:59:21Z

Ridiculous. Ran well on the website for me. I liked the piano, added to the impregnating ambiance. Wasn't sure if clicking the mouse was adding much speed or not. Some of your assets were getting a bit grainy once they were too big. Overall a nice compo entry.

Planet Bash by killerkun 2017-05-19T03:10:24Z

Enjoyed playing this one. I felt it was a bit too easy, and wasn't sure if I was cheating or found a bug by double tapping left/right to move quicker. I didn't immediately realize the goal, and not sure if it just keeps on going? Kind of wish there was some kind of either end, or visual bonus for doing damage to the planet. Animation was great, and soundtrack was amazing. Overall a very solid entry.

Cheers!

Miniverse by sebasrez 2017-05-02T03:45:25Z

Loved the art and animations. I was blown away about how well all the different elements of game development came together. The tutorial felt good, and I liked the concept overall. Visually very good (I especially loved when the first planet was met, and just seeing the grid snap into place).

I was a bit confused on whether or not I was doing more/less damage than my opponent. And, as someone else mentioned, you can place your objects anywhere on the grid and I wasn't sure if that was intended or not (but it didn't feel like they were doing much). Love the quirkiness, and would want to come back and play more as things get fleshed out.

Overall a solid entry. Good job guys! Followed your programmer on Twitter to see what else comes out of it.

LD-38 SUPER SMALL WORLDS by elZach 2017-05-01T06:08:37Z

Man, really like the overall look and feel of the game (including the lumbering pink guys). Controls could have been a bit tighter, and the second level (as folks have mentioned) was a bit confusing about what was foreground and background. Wish that there was a visual or audio indicator when you crossed the finish line. You have to wait a few seconds before the level ends. Overall solid entry!

Dinosaur Protection Program by maxartz15 2017-05-01T01:23:38Z

I liked it! The graphics were simple, clean, though I don't quite understand the dinosaur. I enjoyed the progression, and felt the pacing was good. I wished that the gun I controlled got better over time (maybe I missed that part). Also, it wasn't totally clear how much damage I was taking or when I was going to lose. Also, and I could be wrong, but it felt like the auto turrets were shooting through the planet. Maybe this is intended (or maybe I didn't see this correctly) but if so then it makes it less important about where you place the turrets. Cheers! Soleil by JoyFired 2017-05-01T03:22:55Z

I like the idea of a mario-galaxy-esque game (3d player on ball planet), but I found the controllers/gameplay fairly disorienting and hard to quit after about 5 minutes. Not sure how to improve in that area. Would love if you had a character rather than a cube (I get that it's only 48 hours!). There's something good here, but small tweaking will improve the experience.

If you get a change, try out my game Sling Ship:

Booster's Day Out by paulstraw 2017-05-01T03:53:10Z

Really enjoyed this game. I must admit the learning curve is steep, but I really enjoyed the concept and sunk more time into it than most entries. The ship model was awesome, and I loved the explosions. Having a line to show where you have been was a nice touch. I was a bit confused on what the overall goal was, but I enjoyed playing around with the physics.

Honestly, it's also the most similar game I've played to my own, Sling Ship. Since we have similar concepts, would appreciate any feedback on improvements to gameplay, physics, etc. if you get the chance:

Powerless by Gleb Mineev 2017-05-01T03:30:03Z

I thought the art was great, but I struggled to understand what I was needing to do. As other mentioned I enjoyed the audio. The controls were the area that probably need the biggest improvement. I would opt for WASD rather than mouse clicking. I found it quite disorienting. A little more instruction on what you need to do, improvements on the movement would make this very playable.

Would love feedback on my game Sling Ship, if you get the time:

Appreciate the early feedback. Very encouraging!

Sling Ship 🌏 by Quoclon 2017-05-01T04:34:59Z

Just wanted to jump in and say I've been updating this game in the background (but wanted to keep it pure for the Jam). Sound effects are going to be lowered, and I'll add a mute button (I found it really hard to judge in Unity how loud the game was going to be). levels redesigned for a smoother difficulty curve. A hue for the planets gravity to make it more obvious. A light hue around the ship to show the tractor beam distance. Remove the timer (I think limited beam is enough) and you can actually press 'R' to reset right now, so adding a prompt to the UI could be nice.

Thanks everyone for the feedback so far. Looking forward to more suggestions!

Sling Ship 🌏 by Quoclon 2017-05-01T05:10:42Z

@joyfired Appreciate the feedback. Honestly, I hadn't though about it being a hold-down mechanic, but I can see how that would be more intuitive. Right now the tractor beam (I found) does not really add to your momentum unless you really utilize the planet. It tends to be a matter of just carrying the moment of when you start the level. I played around with the idea of having some small thruster mechanics for the ship, perhaps having the tractor beam pull you toward the target a bit to build momentum.

Sling Ship 🌏 by Quoclon 2017-05-01T05:20:42Z

@jushiip Sorry, I am going to investigate how to host/release on Windows (maybe I can do this on Itch.io) so more people can try. Wonder if there's a spot to host APKs as well if someone wants to try and Android.

Sling Ship 🌏 by Quoclon 2017-05-01T05:33:05Z

@burgee I'm working on smoothing out the learning curve, and I also ended up hitting retry after beating a level. Doesn't feel good to have to restart the level after multiple tries. I'll be removing the retry button after each level, and just have 'next'. Maybe I'll add an option in menus to go back and try previous levels. Cheers!

@radmccool Oh no! lol. Maybe failing is part of the fun?

Sling Ship 🌏 by Quoclon 2017-05-01T06:14:57Z

@carsen-d and @aurelien I am quickly learning that the learning curve is was to steep. I've been working on updates in the background, and focusing a lot on difficulty. I do want it to be difficult, but level two is probably a bit overkill in challenges for being the second level. Thanks for the feedback!

Sling Ship 🌏 by Quoclon 2017-05-03T06:36:14Z

@pkenney I really appreciate the well thought out feedback. I like the idea of chaining the beams together without all the extra clicking. Glad you enjoyed the experience!

SmallWorld by arg410 2017-05-01T05:56:30Z

Man you gotta respect the Compo entry, and the challenge of making assets, gameplay, and everything else in 48 hours. I think this has some solid gameplay, even though it took me a while to figure out what was going on.

Pale Blue Dot by Harker 2017-05-01T01:32:55Z

I was stoked when I fired it up. I liked the graphics, tbh, and the goal is intuitive. Unfortunately, as you mentioned, the WebGL version was not working well. Asteroids and the projectiles just pushed each other around. I enjoyed the camera, though it was a bit confusing at times (when I let go of accelerate). I like the feature, but being able to control it... or perhaps it being triggerd by how many asteroids are on the screen would be good. Would appreciate Feedack on my game as well if you have time: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/sling-ship-search-for-a-small-world

What a wild ride! I love the splash screen, and the color palette used for this game. It was a bit difficult to figure out what the main character or enemies really were. And, I struggled to do well (but could be my own fault). Music was on point! I also like the concept that the world shrunk as your health. Overall solid entry.

Sillyzilla Rampage by Eric Florio 2017-05-03T04:30:22Z

Amazing Jam game. Love the simple mechanics. They were intuitive (didn't use tutorial) and was doing quite well. Felt the difficulty ramped up at an appropriate pace. The art style was great too. Only downside, and its a bit one, is that about 3 minutes in the game while I was doing well I got randomly booted. After reading a few of the comments it sounds like the Home button was at fault. Get that button out of there! That's the only downside to an otherwise amazing game.

AaaRrr - Fight epic battles on our small (and flat) world by Hackschnitzel 2017-04-30T05:13:04Z

I thought the controls were a bit off (forward worked well, but turning felt awkward). The sound effects were neat, if not a little loud. I kinda of wish it felt more impactful when the bullets hit the other player. Could use some polish but solid idea!

Restless by dragonsix 2017-05-12T02:09:27Z

Art was decent. I liked the lighting. I wished the character had a shadow. Some kind of tutorial would have been helpful. I enjoyed the moment when I first saw an enemy. the sound effect was awesome, and the character looked cool. I was confused when he attacked me and I sort of absorbed him... oh wow, haha, I just looked up at the review above mine as I'm typing this and seeing that he noticed some similar stuff. I also wish I could have pressed esc to exit. I think the base mechanics and ambiance are there. With a few small tweaks this would be rad.

Fantastic. The tutorials within the levels are awesome. The planet graphics, the cuteness factor, the explosion/crash are all awesome. Learning curve was smooth (I liked the red x so you know where you last shot from). Great animation when you hit the black hole. Gravity felt really good (love how the ball would loop back in from off screen and connect against a planet). Levels felt varied enough that I wanted to continue on. My highest rated game so far.

Also, great appreciate the feedback you provided on my game Sling Sling:

https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/sling-ship-search-for-a-small-world

We actually had a fairly similar concept, but you've managed to pull it off very well!

Around the World in 80 Raps by MegaDrats 2017-05-02T03:54:17Z

Oh man. What was that. lol. I really liked the animation, and the basic beat. Wasn't totally sure if I was hitting the keys to the beat or not (felt a bit off). Would love some more visual feedback when I got it right. I laughed at the "What are you a programmer?" line. I didn't get very far, but I enjoyed what I played.

10/10 would rap again.

Would love to hear your thoughts on my game if you get the chance: **https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/sling-ship-search-for-a-small-world**

Particulate by Daniel Alhadeff 2017-05-01T05:18:18Z

Really enjoyed this one. I have a preference for simple gameplay mechanics, and a good difficulty. Like others I found it a bit too easy to be striped of your mass, and not quite enough time to recover them. I also felt like standing still was the easiest tactics, because the mass doesn't flow too far behind you. Top score was 162. One of my favorites so far!

Feel free to Feedback on my game Sling Ship if you get the opportunity: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/sling-ship-search-for-a-small-world

Cheers!

Food Force by Kinjin 2017-05-01T06:28:16Z

Fun to just play around with for a bit. Concept is neat, but I wasn't sure exactly what I was supposed to accomplish. Love the graphics! Will check back in the future.

Would love to hear your thoughts on my game Sling Ship:

Cheers!

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Mr. Cheeks Sweet Dreams by MrTroy 2020-10-06T03:27:37Z

Mr.Cheeks and I struggled to get down that endless pit! I don't know if either of us will be having sweet dreams tonight. Probably dreams of spikey things and missed opportunities to get some sweets.

Break The Loop by paulhocker 2020-10-06T03:02:35Z

Awesome. One of my faves so far. Made it to level 9 (with the tiny tight loop). I loved the beam sound. Also, just generally felt like I was getting better and better as the game went along.

DEATH STRING by miziziziz 2020-10-06T03:14:12Z

Amazing. I ingnored your warnings about performance and played on WebGL... and yeah, there were some camera issues on the last level.. but... The game was awesome!!! Honestly loved it. Nice difficult curve. New enemies were introduced in controlled ways. It felt satisfying to shock enemies. The end boss brought it all together!

RingCastle by tomcooper 2020-10-06T02:55:49Z

Pretty wild aesthetic, art, and animations. I had a bit of a hard time figuring out what I had to do. But I felt like the game is the beginnings of something really interesting!

W.M.L.F by Webox 2020-10-06T03:48:47Z

Solid. The mechanics made sense right away. The art style was consistent. The Lamas cute.

Spinnerets by Jeremy Ryan 2020-10-08T13:07:52Z

I didn't have a second person to play with, so I just tested this using two different buttons on my keyboard.

I loved the art aesthetic and sound. This is the first game I've played using PyGame, and I think you did a great job with it. I'll have to check out PyGame in the future! The powerups were fun to try and get. Also I think the feeling of shooting and bumping in to things felt good. Overall great submission!

Blast Core by ConnorThompson 2020-10-06T02:47:57Z

Loved the music. The curving of the bullets was awesome, and I'm really interested to dive into the source code to see how you pull that off. My feedback would be around how fast the enemies come at you when you move... so I tended to just soot from one place. Overall very cool!

Peck-It! by StinkyKitty 2020-10-06T03:36:45Z

ROFL. I laughed out loud a few times at the clucking. I found it a little difficult to click on the bugs using a mouse (probably would be easier on mobile). At first I thought I was directing his head, then later I realized I needed to directly click on bugs. Art was nice, music was great, sounds effects hilarious. Overall fun :)

Beat Bash by Overlook Studios 2020-10-11T06:12:18Z

I mean, where to start. Art is on point. The music is spectacular. I love how everything (including the menus) moves to the beat. I found the tutorial section a little cluttered, but still got the hang of it pretty quick. One of the best entries!

Clone Arena by GrizzliusMaximus 2020-10-07T19:26:42Z

One of the best 'looping' mechanics I've seen. I found the difficulty curve a little steep, but I really did like the concept and found myself playing it for a while. I felt a little dizzy/nauseous with the aiming and camera movement... and I preferred to be zoomed out (could it maybe be zoomed out all the time)? Honestly, of all the games I've played... this one as a concept might have the most potential.

TowerStuck by Edeneden 2020-10-06T03:55:44Z

Solid entry into the Tower Defense genre. I enjoyed the art. I found the aiming of the crossbows a little inaccurate, but overall got the job done.

Load It by ryan hallmann 2020-10-06T03:32:07Z

wtf. I love the creativity. Probably one of the more creative games I've played in the jam.

Bjorn to Dance by Tomh 2020-10-06T03:42:38Z

Art is perfect. Also, the general UI was well laid out and a strong aesthetic. It was clear pretty quick what had to happen. Love the scene transitions, and just how well the animation looked. Clever twist on Simon Says!

Feedback Loop by Viut 2020-10-06T03:52:18Z

what just happened.

SPINNING FACES by Mg beatz 2020-10-06T02:52:10Z

Simple concept, but enjoyable. I found myself just kinda getting in the flow and played for a while. One bug I found was that the one (and only) time I died... I ended up spawning where the line of smiley faces were... and they repeatedly killed me at the spawn point. Overall fun game to relax with!

Strange Planet by tengusheath 2020-10-06T03:20:12Z

Simple but fun. Smooth difficulty curve. Nice sound effects. Some funny moments. Cute Art. Also is it just me or are the aliens the github Octocat...

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Abyssus in Anima by Tygrak 2021-04-27T01:58:37Z

That was great. I agree that the movement, dialogue, and transitions between portals were a bit too slow. I thought the combat was awesome. Maybe may favorite mechanic so far. I loved the rhythm of dodging. The guitar during the battles was epic!

Space Trench Miner by notime4games 2021-04-27T01:48:22Z

I thought it was a little slow paced. I thought the overall look and feel were consistent. The little intro animation was cool too. I think a little audio would have been great.

Diacombs by aeveis 2021-04-29T01:49:33Z

This felt really polished. Art style was cute, and loved the little touches around the character borders and movement trails. The audio was a good fit too. The puzzles felt like they had a nice progression. Well done!

Deeper Than You Think by Genpaku 2021-04-27T00:59:25Z

I thought the controls and gameplay were intuitive. Loved the splash screen audio, and I thought the overall aesthetic was good. I wish it was a bit brighter. Solid!

Type Fisher by breadstix 2021-04-29T02:01:40Z

I like derpy art style, so I thought this was decent. As someone else mentioned, would have been cool to see the line, or some kind of indicator of fish. Also, I think it would be cool to make the sentences a little more interesting. And, having longer or more complex sentences have bigger rewards. Overall solid effort :)

World Eater Jormungandr by Dilem 2021-04-27T01:33:03Z

Nice. Simple, Unintuitive. A little audio would go a long way! Perhaps some black lines around items that can be eaten to help clarify the objectives? Overall well done!

Clear Your Mind by Quoclon 2021-04-27T02:02:53Z

@armytag I appreciate you trying it out! There it background music... but I think I just made it way too quiet. I'm always worried that if someone has their speakers on blast that I'll wake the whole house with loud audio :)

DOWNHELL by Belonzik 2021-05-02T21:58:17Z

Only game where I've bothered to actually download it so far. You could tell from the art/mood that it was gonna be good. Honestly, this might be the best game I've played so far. Simple concept, polished, satisfying. You must be a pro game designer in your day job! Haha, soooo good!

Tripus's Very Deep Adventure by Kornel 2021-05-02T22:18:42Z

Wow. I loved this. Music was epic, and it just felt so satisfying getting ULTRA and blowing through everything. The instructions in the beginning were a bit hard to read. Controlling the character was satisfying, and the little verbal feedbacks were both hilarious and encouraging. This was one of my favourites.

Challenge Tunnel by barret907k 2021-04-29T02:17:25Z

A little bit confusing, in terms of puzzle solving. But, I liked the basic graphics scheme! There's a little bug in that when you move the background flickers a bit, but it didn't seem to impact gameplay. Fun!

Into the Deep by Norris Eldridge 2021-05-02T21:47:07Z

I have a soft spot for short, complete games. I liked the music, the art was cohesive and set a good tone. I finished it. I wish it was gamified slightly, and I would help love a little bit of a 'conclusion'

To the Core by Eric Smith 2021-05-02T22:03:06Z

Solid. Good concept, easy to understand, and well executed. I wish it was a bit clearer what each rock/ore/dirt did. But, I once I got the hang of it all was well. That cut scene... haha

Penguins can't fly by Attala 2021-04-27T01:44:58Z

I agree with a couple other comments, a bit difficult. I also didn't immediately understand why I was losing. I love that he does little flips as his way down. The animation/art/mood are amazing. The controls were easy to pickup and play. It also worked well for me on WebGL :)

Bungee Thief by Zomk 2021-05-02T22:12:11Z

I wish it had a bit more of a gradual difficulty curve. I found it pretty hard from the get-go. If there was audio, then it was too low for me to really hear. If there wasn't, I'd suggest adding some would really add to the mood. Art style, concept, and core gameplay loop were all solid.

Deep way down by Martynas 2021-04-27T01:20:38Z

Geez. Brought to tears. Didn't expect that. Gameplay was polished, concept of stages of grief was well executed. The aesthetic was amazing. I really liked when the creatures started attaching to me, look very cool. First game I've beaten so far!

Deeper Into the Multiverse by lovetocode999 2021-04-27T01:35:41Z

Couple of bugs with the input, and double jumping, but it was intuitive and I was able to beat it. I think it's awesome that you gave love.js a go to make this game in 48 hours!

Eel With A Gun! by Lomna 2021-04-27T01:42:01Z

Oh man, that was... something. The graphics were pretty rad, and I like the idea, and how silly/chaotic it was. And I think I get why the controls are the way they are (because it's angled), but boy was it hard to navigate with those controls

Corona 69 by Elektroney 2021-05-02T21:50:13Z

The art style was great, and the music helped set the pace. There was a little bit of clipping with the tiles/art, but wasn't too noticeable. I really enjoyed the Game Over animated menu. It was a little on the hard side at first, but then I got the hang of it! Well done!

GodMode by Landerack 2021-04-27T01:30:00Z

The aesthetics were amazing. The 3d feel within the 2d space was well done. The controls felt a little clunky at first, but I got the hang of it. Overall solid!

Puzzle Tower by Phanty 2021-04-27T01:39:14Z

Well that was fun! Graphics were simple, but were effective. It felt satisfying solving the puzzles :D

Miner Rescue by mjbelanic 2021-05-01T03:30:47Z

More fun than I was expecting! I liked having to balance the ship to avoid the obstacles. Simple art style, but felt consistent. The vehicle did get stuck on the sides of walls easy. Fixing that would really add to the experience. Overall solid entry!

The Chase by Nikl 2021-04-29T02:20:39Z

Congrats on building something rad in Rust! I thought the music, the art, and the gameplay were adorable. Given the tile nature of the maps, I think a movement scheme with diagonal movements would improve gameplay a bit. Well done!

CAVE CRAVLER by NoobHereo 2021-04-29T01:56:08Z

Love to try this one out, itch.io site is 404. Shoot me a comment when it's up! Would love to check it out :)

Graphite Journey by pnkvrt 2021-05-02T22:09:38Z

Amazing. This was a solid entry. The art is clearly stunning, and really is what drew me in. I also thought the background music loop was solid. As others have said, sure, adding some sound or a bit of animation could be nice. But, overall well done :)

Poss Loot by Guax 2021-05-02T22:06:05Z

I really liked the art style. I'm curious... was this 3d environment mixed with pixel art? very cool! I agree, a little bit of sound effects would have gone a long way. I also wasn't too sure why I was breaking different blocks, or what they did. But, it was satisfying breaking them and getting to each new area!

Abisal by itssoisi 2021-05-02T21:52:58Z

I liked it. It felt like the 2nd level of Contra on NES, but cute art style, theme, and music. I kept getting hit by the rocks, so I wish there was a bit more of an indicator as to how far away they were. Overall very polished for a game jam!

shroomfall by Hydrothermal 2021-04-27T01:11:11Z

10/10 would shroom again.

LD49 — Unstable

A Hard Pill to Swallow by osh.studio 2021-10-05T03:33:06Z

So good! One of the better jam entries I've played in years

LD51 — Every 10 seconds

The Lure of Treasure Whisper Island by GameDevZach 2022-10-05T03:48:42Z

I wasn't able to find any treasures. But, I liked the art, the mood, the little flags, but mostly loved the 'warmer' voice. I was caught off guard and it got a nice laugh out of me. I feel like there's a nice concept here :)

Fleeting Seasons by Bytomancer 2022-10-06T04:47:34Z

Impressive how much content you were able to pack into a weekend. I thought the aesthetic was rather nice. Future improvements might include some in-game tutorials to help take the first initial steps toward success :) Overall nice entry!

Frantic Farmer by Jel2217 2022-10-06T04:57:37Z

I liked the music and overall 'feel' of the game - both seemed to play off each other. I tried a few strategies (i.e. planting all the crops, planting a few crops per turn). And only made it to level 3 @:) Overall well done!

Life is Fleeting by Sarah Alexa 2022-10-06T05:08:10Z

I'm surprised at how much time I sank into this. It took me a minute to understand where all the tools an resources are, and how to farm, but once I got the hang of it I felt like Bill Murry in groundhog day. Honestly, what kept me going was was desire to win Robin's affection. Having Robin in the game really gave me that goal!

Clique Hell High by Sean Esopenko 2022-10-05T03:45:17Z

Nice artwork and background tunes. I loved how the theme became apparent (switching back and forth), and felt accomplished when I was able to use that to my advantage. Fun entry, nice mood :)

Feed the Deep by Matt Green 2022-10-06T05:01:12Z

I'm a sucker for some MS Paint looking art, and the splash screen and music had me pretty stoked to dive in. I think if you eased the player in a touch... it would make it a bit easier. I tried about 3 or 4 times, but wasn't able to grow the crops fast enough. I think that's on me though! Overall it seems like a smart use of the theme :)

LD52 — Harvest

Harvest Heist by Sheepolution 2023-01-13T03:43:26Z

First perfect rating I've given out. Loved the art, the funny dialogue, the 4th wall breaking comments from the characters. The animation was lively, and pressing the key directions to up-root the veggies felt so satisfying. I don't think I "finished", and perhaps if there was one suggestion it would be to give a bit more context of 'winning' looks like? Overall excellent, well done :)

The Last Outpost by Joror 2023-01-13T02:57:07Z

Very impressed by the UI, and can't believe you have something so well done in this short of a time. I love how you can hover the mouse to see details, zoom in and out, and move around the camera. I feel kinda dumb, because I wasn't able to really figure out how to play. I tried clicking on characters, assigning houses, but I still couldn't figure it out - I say that's on me. In the future a little tutorial would go a long way. I feel like there's something really solid here! Well done :)

Cereales Trading Simulator 2023 by sebbernery 2023-01-10T03:27:39Z

Well, that was pretty fun! It reminders of of the board game Stock Ticker. You did a great job of explaining the rules. And, a very impressive use of a wide range of tech. Nicely done :)

ORGAN GRINDER by Xeke-Death 2023-01-10T05:36:23Z

Super impressive that your team got this done in a weekend. Graphics are top notch, especially the look of each weapon that's available (holding heads, bones, etc.). I found it pretty difficult, and I couldn't seem to kill the first wave of enemies (I'd shoot them once and they'd just stand there). I appreciate that you added in a cheat code so I could try everything out. Honestly, I feel like there's a decent game here. Well done!

HR. Harvest Resources by ccglp 2023-01-13T02:20:57Z

I think I like this one. Has some Papers, Please vibes to it (like my entry too!). I loved the main screen, very well done and had me stoked to try the game. If you were able to, it would be nice to have your game screen be similar thematically. I think it's a bit challenging to determine what is say "political' when reading text, because there's some interpretation that has to happen. But, overall I found myself enjoying playing! I think you've got a little something here if you flesh it out. Well done :)

Heroes, Please by Quoclon 2023-01-13T01:54:14Z

@icalm - does it not support WebGL at all? That's interesting! I've tested the game on Mobile (Chrome), and Desktop Browser (Chrome), but haven't done much testing beyond that. Sorry to hear you couldn't try it out. Appreciate you trying to give it a go :)

Subnuggets by unless games 2023-01-13T03:51:47Z

I liked the billboard style 2D/3D graphics. And, I thought the atmosphere was cute. I wasn't entirely clear of the goal, and I'd suggest a little more visual feedback when the little squids are 'full'. But, still, nice entry way to go!

Journey of the flowers by tthe 2023-01-10T20:59:51Z

Loved the chill vibes, coming from the art, the music, the pacing, the level design. The invisible tiles were a little annoying, but once I got the hang of how to reveal them it felt better. I wish I could click ahead a few times to move, as I found the one tile ahead moving to a little clunky. That said, overall, it's a nice little chill puzzle game! Well done team :)

Harvey the Harvester by Simone 2023-01-13T02:51:43Z

This is the first time I've seen AI art generated in a game, though I imagine I'll see more as time goes on. It feels a lot like just using assets off any asset store, except more unique. I think given how easy it probably was to generated them... I feel like I had higher expectations for gameplay. I would love to have seen these crazy generated monsters having more personality, or special attacks, or something along those lines. That said, I played through to the finish and enjoyed it. In game jams I feel like it's always to go more easy than too hard, and you nailed that. Well done :)

Paper Druids by rubr 2023-01-13T03:24:17Z

The simple art style is pleasent to look at, and doesn't distract or detract from gameplay. I like the UI elements, from the writing, to how moves/attacks are telegraphed. Took me a few turns to get a hang of how planting and harvesting works, but once I got the hang of it... yeah, pretty chill and enjoyable. Super impressive to have a tile-based game, with AI, implemented in a weekend. Solid entry, nice use of theme, well done :)

Delivery Maze by Kusaihana 2023-01-12T04:50:04Z

I thought this was fun. Finished the first level, but got a little bored afterward. Maybe start off with a few smaller/easier levels, to build up the momentum? I also got a touch dizzy. Not sure what to do about it though.

Harvest Merge by LoparPanda 2023-01-13T01:56:49Z

I was able to play on web. I really liked the art style, and the sound effects. Even after reading the instructions, I found the control scheme a little confusing. That said, I was still able to make some progress and had a good time. Well done :)

Reap What You Sow by Hare Software 2023-01-13T01:52:47Z

Yup, we have a real winner on our hand here folks. Art is consistent and doesn't distract, the little voice-overs are a nice touch, it's easy to understand the rules, and the fact that there's an AI... so good. I played a 6x6, and I wasn't able to win, but I imagine if I have a few more rounds I could probably best the AI. I love the simplicity of it all, and how easy it was to get into. One of the best entries I've played. Well done!

Rapid Produce Dating Simulator by Shredmer 2023-01-13T06:17:01Z

Love it. Beautiful character art, nice backgrounds, easy to understand, simple controls. A well executed entry. Nicely done!

PocketKnight by UmutGurdal 2023-01-13T02:00:24Z

Hey, so I tried to play it via WebGL on Chrome/Firefox and it didn't work, and an error popped up. I've had this error in the past, and it's usually due to how Unity does compression for WebGL. You'll want to Disabled as the compression format, and can follow this link to see how to fix it :)

Hobo Harvest by magicstunts123 2023-01-10T02:46:11Z

Haha, that was awesome. The graphics and mood are very well done. Loved the sense of daily progression. Cheers!

Aggro-Culture by Ategon 2023-01-10T05:52:03Z

Probably one of my favorite entries so far. Made it to day 6 or so? I enjoyed the music, the art, picking the cards between battles, and I found the coins very satisfying. Minor feedbacks? I think actually having to click on the coins would be a touch more satisfying. I love that the difficulty curve starts out quite easy (most game jam games start off way too hard). Anyway, nice idea, and well implemented with some good 'juice'. Well done!

Weed Em and Reap by zhelding 2023-01-13T02:07:59Z

Hmmmm... I'm conflicted. I'll start by saying I quite like the concept, and I found the art/design very accessible and was easily able to understand the intent/flow of the game. I got a high score of 11 a few times, and that felt good. I think the main feedback for me would be length of rounds. One of the card is "reduce population by 1 for 3 turns" - so I have to have played it by turn 2 for it matter. If you extended how many can be played, it would be super chill to just sit back and manage these cities. I think you've got something fun here, and that it just needs a little tweaking. Overall a nice entry, well done.

Dream Reaper by Orhu 2023-01-10T02:52:20Z

I found this a little hard, but was able to beat the first 3-4 levels. The red light seemed to switch to a 'new' position when I moved, but it also caught me if I moved into it, which was a little confusing. Overall I had fun with this one, and I liked the ambiance and puzzles. Nice work :)

So You Want To Be a Soul Reaper? by ironwestie 2023-01-13T02:15:16Z

I think there's a nice combination of things done well here, but I think what stood out to me at first was the neat dialogue system. It wasn't immediately clear to me that I couldn't push the ghosts into the fire, but once I got the hang of it I made it in a few levels. I'd suggest increasing the character speed, and the force in which he pushes the ghosts, and it felt like things were moving along a little slowly. Otherwise, I'd say well done team!

Harvest all Humans! by Undev Games 2023-01-12T05:09:18Z

Great art style, nice polish on UI, art, menus, tutorial etc. Wish there was a bit more 'juice' in terms of the combat and the feeling of hits. Again, art style and concept was great :) Well done!

Plant, Harvest, Make money! by huozhedexiaoc 2023-01-10T03:43:18Z

I started thinking it was a simple harvesting game, but appreciated how the puzzles were thought out. I thought the simple graphics serviced it well. It didn't show up well on my QHD monitor, I had to scroll up and down to see the entire page. But, overall, nice little puzzle game!

LD54 — Limited Space

Space Piracy 2444 by seurimas 2023-10-10T04:59:17Z

I liked the ship movements, and the graphics of the ship and space caught my eye when scrolling past your entry. I was a little confused about where I was supposed to go (I kept flying away with the hyperdrive). I liked how the stars helped create a sense of movement. Overall, well done for a weekend!

Fish 'n' Ships by hunttis 2023-10-10T05:02:50Z

I was able to get 12 fish and 50 points. I wasn't able to figure out how to defend the village, or why exactly it was dying. The ocean background gave the game some juice, as did the voiceover. I liked the little puzzle concept. I feel like with a bit more clarity, could be a nice chill game to play on web or mobile. Cheers!

Rabbit Hole Run: Don't Lose Your Head! by ryusui 2023-10-10T04:38:07Z

I don't play a ton of platformers, but I thought I'd give this a go. I really liked it! I thought the character model was really cute, easy to move, and enjoyed the animations. The level design was clever, and there were a few surprising moment that caught me off guard, but I tried not to lose my head over. I loved the tunes, as the feet walked around, it really added a lot of juice to the movement. My only complaint is that I get a little sick with a lot of motion, and I wish there was a bit of an easing on the character movement when snapping left/right. But otherwise, really well done in a weekend! Cheers :)

Tiny Farm Island by gamesplusjames 2023-10-07T19:24:23Z

Main Meny + Intro Song + Particles + Composition = Chill Vibes. Love It. Black outline around all the art added such a pop! Once I got into the flow of the primary game loop (harvesting, "planting", expanding) it was really a lot of fun (and kinda stressful, in a good way!). I didn't notice the store at first, so some sort of UI wiggle, or maybe have it turn a color when it becomes available would be a cool additional feature. It's a very solid entry, well done James :)

Limited Ssssspace by Quoclon 2023-10-03T15:56:29Z

Love it. Upgrade tree is a great idea. Behind the scenes each one of the segments is also upgrading based on EXP they are gaining. So the one closest to you will be the strongest over time. As of now they just gain more frequent shots and damage, but they could be their own "Color" and have their own "Spells" or something too!

More work to be done on Head of the Snake abilities for sure. Different shots (i.e. straight out the sides) and maybe some infrequent powerful spells (i.e. the entire snake goes on fire and can damage enemies).

Good thoughts - maybe I could just damage the one segment, and the rest could backfill. Or, maybe each segment has it's own little hp pool so it doesn't die so easily. Or maybe all the segments of the tail are the equivalent of HP bar, and go down proportionally (from the back first) based on how much damage you receive. Thanks for the feedback!

@aweskybear - appreciate the kind words. I think there might be something there, I feel the pull of "just one more round". I'm gonna sort out the 'you die to easy thing'. I had a bool set to make it classic walls like Snake, but it brought it's own set of challenges (mostly around how enemies spawn near the walls)

Limited Ssssspace by Quoclon 2023-10-06T08:07:23Z

@snekofspice - I appreciate the feedback. Certainly polish, in general, is something I'm striving to improve at over time. It's so easy to over-scope, or get distracted by minutia. What I love is that I did a good job behind the scenes with abstraction/interfaces, and setting things up, so adding new enemies, new abilities, and fixing timing issues should be quite easy down the line.

The part about the shot timings I hadn't really thought about, but I guess in Vampire Survivors (for example) the shot type (i.e. the whip) always happens at the same time, even if there's more, or some variation. Then you know the frequency of the attack. Good insights!

@zubspace - Thanks for the feedback! I feel like others thought the Homing Missile was better, but I actually agree that the Forward Attack is stronger, it's just also riskier! Behind the scene's I'm working on a better movement system, whether that's queueing (testing this), or just allowing for the player to 'pre-move' before the tick. Thanks again :)

Limited Ssssspace by Quoclon 2023-10-10T05:26:38Z

@ryusui - Nice. Yeah, I've actually got it open in Unity now, working on input. As of now I have it so it's still on movement 'tick', but you can pre-turn now in whatever direction you plan to go. So at least you get that visual feedback, and you know you aren't going to "miss" the turn. I might play around with immediate movement, but then I feel like you could cheese the 'per tick' movement system. Not sure, more work to be done once the Jam Voting is done. Thanks for checking it out!

Too Many Towers! by rekate 2023-10-10T04:49:18Z

I liked that you included a little tutorial section, and that there were some on-screen instructions. I'll blame myself here, but I wasn't able to setup more than the one tower that you start right next to. I just couldn't figure out where to go from there. It kept saying I didn't have enough scraps, and the enemies showed up very quick. I'd say my main feedback here would be to ramp up the difficulty way slower. Just give the player 30 seconds or so to get their bearings and build a thing or two. Anyway, still thought it was a nice entry and a solid effort. well done!

The Relic by Furtive Pygmy 2023-10-06T06:56:29Z

I thought the audio during the intro and gameplay was engaging. The 'dialogue' graphics were nice, and I liked how they slowly introduced game mechanics - i.e. the trail renderer. I found it a little difficult to steer the ship, and also turned on auto-fire. Not all of the dialogue/gameplay additions were clear to me. Also, maybe it's my screen resolution, but I wasn't able to see the entire screen. What I think I loved the most was the cohesive aesthetic and overall vibe. Clean, well presented, well though out. Well done :)

Limitris by zubspace 2023-10-07T20:13:39Z

Nice. I loved the overall aesthetic, from the menu to gameplay. The puzzle solving grew in difficult gradually (via tutorial), though I found the Snake section a little too difficult (and I gave up, maybe too early). Nice work for a 48 hour game jam! Cheers :)

ROCKOUT by Nick Baggett 2023-10-06T07:03:06Z

Always a challenge making a multiplayer game for a Game Jam, both in terms of complexity and trying to ensure people find others to play with. That said, I poked around solo - Loved the models, and really loved the particle effects of the spells (i.e. the way the little boulders bounced on the ground after the shot). The music was obviously epic, as was the main menu and how it shifts when you load to different screens - very cool. Were those guitar chords being played with each spell? Overall a very polished game :)

Minimus Brainius by hulien22 2023-10-06T07:12:43Z

I liked the background music, and the 'world map' - I enjoyed solving the basic puzzle in the beginning. I got confused when it was time to start 'debating'. And, I didn't make it too much further beyond that. Which is too bad, because I can feel that this game is oozing with intention and hard work. Solid work team :)

BULLETERO - - -🔫😐 by MEGA Marlon 2023-10-07T19:42:36Z

Love the mechanic, very color technically and for this theme. Gameplay was intuitive. I loved the story elements that were weaved into the gameplay. When I solved a couple of puzzles, I felt like I had found a little secret.. which is a great feeling. A nice entry, well done :)

FROUST! by Kupnu4 2023-10-07T20:18:35Z

Epitome of juicy, polished, focused game jam game design. This is how it's done folks. The controls are tight, it's oozing with character, from the cute snowmen, to the old-timey music, to the weather and bobbing ice. I'm not great at 'polish' myself, and I've been thinking about what makes something look 'polished' in general. Well, this is the example. Well done!

Shotgun hockey by Gastar 2023-10-10T05:06:50Z

I loved the vibey main menu, with the ice, the cauldon, the tuns, and the smoking gun. The gameplay was fun! I liked that it was a simple gameplay loop and concept, perfect for a game jam. I also found it kinda difficult to hit enemies, so maybe add a little aim assist. I'd also suggest ramping up the difficulty a bit slower... just let me get a few sweet kills at first so I can warm up to the action :) Otherwise, awesome, nice work!

Super Cube by Senso 2023-10-07T20:06:20Z

Probably my favorite jam game so far. Intro song is awesome, and totally hyped me up, haha. Nice touches on UI font, Main Menu, color choices, and the subtle 80's 3d glasses font border. Clear instructions were nice. Addictive. Fun. Kept me coming back for more. I think there's something here to build on, maybe also on mobile?

Suggestions: - that first "Pull to start" ending up flinging me off to my death, so maybe something more gentle to start? - I wish the player Cube was on top of everything, it got easily lost in the mix with all the explosions and combo text, which once or twice meant I lost because I couldn't see the player.

Anyway, overall a very polished and juicy entry! Well done :)

Prickle by Kultuk 2023-10-06T08:03:57Z

Perhaps my favourite so far! Loved the cute graphics, bouncy background music, and cute sounds. It was giving me jackbox vibes. The puzzles were balanced. The first few were easy, and the first one I got stuck on... I ended u figuring it out and being stoked. Very polished and cohesive. Love it.

S-Cargo by floralvikings 2023-10-06T06:36:20Z

I enjoyed this. The Introduction, with the quirky characters lead to a laugh out loud moment. I appreciated your take on the concept, and some tongue-and-cheek commentary on it within the game. I thought the parralex background was rad, and overall the graphics felt cohesive. I felt that the decelerator (dampener) with the abrupt stop felt not idea... but still, made it through some mazes and had a good time. The music and background of the maze zones REALLY amped up the urgency - I could feel it in my bones! Haha, anyway, solid entry :)

Space Ltd. by Jon Curtin 2023-10-03T05:32:43Z

Love the challenge of controlling the ship, dodging obstacles, and the grand finale! A little difficult, but worth it for the ending :) Well done for a weekend game jam.

Seat Fighter by jordandb524 2023-10-10T05:51:57Z

wtf did I just play? I liked it. A lot. The graphics were fantastic, the audio amazing, the concept perfection, the title screen draws you right in. I didn't quite understand what I was doing in that seat, or why I was winning or the CPU was winning, but damn was I having a fun time doing it! Loved the little animations, and the in-game UI was great too. Very nicely done team!

Gacha Fever by Falestress 2023-10-07T21:12:23Z

Cute art style, nice audio and sound effects, and a solid take on the Brotato approach.

Executive Assistant Simulator by Reed Molbak 2023-10-10T04:28:53Z

I liked this. I enjoyed the pace in which the camera panned and the days moved along. I liked the little puzzle of determining when I could add the appointments or not. I wish the appointments that took up two slots were a bit bigger, so it was clear it too up the two slots. I think with a bit more polish (i.e. better background audio, some sound effects, etc.) it could be a chill puzzly game. nicely done in a weekend :)

Animal Teleporting by JamesW 2023-10-10T05:34:49Z

I liked it. Level 4 melted my puzzle-newbie brain. I gave it a few shots, but I couldn't figure it out. I don't know if I'm going to be able to sleep tonight! Haha, I think it's a cute game. Nicely done team :)

Tethered by mattiejas 2023-10-07T23:43:28Z

Nice. I liked the little bits of dialogue, and I thought the core tethered mechanic works well. Well done :)

Before The Trip by Nilan 2023-10-06T07:08:24Z

When trying out a few ideas for the Jam, I had come up with a prototype of packing a storage facility. Even if I had pursued that idea, I would never have come up with something as cute and engaging as this. The controls are fantastic and intuitive, as is the feedback of where you can place things. It's really solid. Well done team!

Brick Breaker: Colors by Game Dev With Michael 2023-10-07T19:35:48Z

I found myself engaging in trying to figure out the puzzle aspect of when to switch the colors. A few times I got 'stuck' in the paddles doing the same route/shot multiple times, which was probably a me problem! As someone screenshotted above, my level seemed a bit lop sided, and I don't think when the ball got behind my paddle on the right hand side I lost a life. That aside, I thought it was a solid entry. I liked that you could customize the colors too. Fun :)

Mini Architect by Mr Bluecap 2023-10-10T04:45:20Z

I also felt a little confused at the beginning, but I think I got the hang of it? I liked the cute characters in the corner, and they gave it the most polish. I thought the little book of rooms was a nice UI touch as well. I wish I didn't also have to draw the rooms - I just didn't understand how that fit into the rest of the gameplay. I liked the little diddy playing in the background. A little more of a tutorial perhaps? Regardless, solid entry for a weekend of coding! Well done :)

Keep Sailing by KnightGames 2023-10-10T05:28:54Z

Won on my first go! The whole time kept thinking "This game is just oozing with polish". The art direction was very unified, the gameplay easy to understand, the UI clean and clear, and the audio was on point. The wave noises, and when the fishes popped out of the water. Yup, this is one of my top #10 for sure. Nicely done!

LD57 — Depths

Forest Depths by Jon Curtin 2025-04-06T20:47:02Z

Nice. You've got a complete game loop, and I like the choice of music to fit the theme/game concept. I ended up with a high score of 210!
