LD42 — Running out of space

Your PC run out of space by Listonos 2018-08-12T23:03:33Z

Nice work! Short, but feels polished! And it did make me smile :D

@andrew-friedman I am sorry. I tried my best to make sure that the game runs. Anything specific you experienced?

@tinamil On design it's possible to beat, but boy did I not have to properly tune the difficulty. But I will look at difficulty when I work on it further.

@sita yeah that's where the inspiration came from.

Thanks for playing everyone, hope you enjoyed it at least a bit. I wish it could anything close to what the plan, but hey it's something and I will finish it outside the jam.

Thank you you very much to everyone for your feedback. I will be sure to take all of it into a count when making this into the full release and actually finishing it. Also thanks for playing :)

@lekkel124 Thank you for playing :) Yeah, originally the font was like that for art style and to set a limitation on email size so you had to open files to keep reading. Later I realised that it may be hard to read (I was struggling to read the email I wrote), but I was too deep into development :( Day 2 was just a lot of panic, messy code and more panic :P

I am sad about not having any sound at all. 6 hours before the closing time I had to make a choice between "story" (writing all of the mails that come in and timing them) and making some sound effects and maybe a single song. At this point I had cut down the "story" from being 5 days to 3 and 2 hours later it became 2 days.

Thanks for the font feedback, I will make sure to plan my art/UI better next time:D

@jka @ryan-wickman @stefan-jovanovic @wolfrug Thank you all very much for playing :D I am looking forward to finishing this game and to the next jam. @wolfrug I have had a lot of people mention it being too difficult and now that you mentioned it I think the variable for some of the mails are not set correctly. Yeah I just checked and in the mail where Bob said "I only wanted to see what they sold", not only did he send an empty file (intentional), but he also needed a file, but didn't ask for it (bug). Thanks for mentioning the wrong penalty, in the last hours of panic, I didn't notice one of the boolean variables being True instead of False.

@guin36 Thanks for playing and thanks for feedback. The original idea that was on paper was about closing ads to keep RAM and screen space clean. After some thought I realised it needed something else so the inbox management came in and as I was thinking of the kind of emails the player will receive I started to like the idea of mails more and more. My big mistake here was that I enjoyed it so much I didn't stop to think how much it will impact my scope and it did a lot.

Because of this I agree that the game is lacking a lot in terms of actually content. I have spent a lot of time just making systems work (something I could have planned better). I am planning to finish it as a separate game, but that's besides the point, I will plan and estimate my scope better next time :D

Drilling With Dice by KunoNoOni 2021-04-27T06:15:28Z

Nice, I quite like it. Was sold as soon I saw dice. I would say, would be nice if the tips where in a pop up or if you could press a button to toggle them, but overall it's quite a neat game. Well done!

w o r m by neverautomatic 2021-04-28T08:19:08Z

This is brilliant! As you said we had very similar ideas and honestly based on the movement alone I prefer you implementation, I didn't get a chance to polish mine. Well done, really cool game!

World Eater Jormungandr by Dilem 2021-04-26T09:42:47Z

Thank you very much for the feedback everyone, all of it is very much appreciated

Demden by Wesxdz 2021-04-27T06:10:41Z

Surprisingly engaging! It wasn't always clear what would kill me since the teeth are different height, but after realizing that I need to stand where there is no teeth, I found it very fun. Well done!

Door Door 48 by Ripter 2021-04-27T06:01:02Z

That's a really cool little game. I never played Door Door, but I really like the mechanics. Well done!

Drop n Grab by samguy 2021-04-27T05:58:59Z

Nice little game! To be honest the first version was almost impossibly difficult, but I just played the updated version and it's much better, almost feels too easy. Well done on the game and the improvements!

Bunny Bunny Dig Dig by ZakAmana 2021-04-27T06:26:07Z

Really cute, fun and really enjoyed playing it, well done!

Deeper Into The Mind by michaelyount 2021-04-27T05:54:36Z

Nice little game that slowly turns into a hectic bullet-hell, I really like it and art works surprisingly well! Well done!

Into The Depths by Nisovin 2021-04-27T06:03:19Z

Fairly simplistic, yet really cool game. Even after rating the game, I kept playing because it's just fun! Very well done!

Mineshaft by ditam 2021-04-27T06:21:47Z

I am impressed, really enjoyed playing this! Found it hard to know what cards do because the screen was cut off, but I would really like to play this as a full game. Very well done!

Diary of Sedah by azagaya 2021-04-27T13:41:28Z

That's really cool game. I adore the concept, well done!

I'm So Deep by liammasters 2021-04-27T06:25:06Z

I genuinely adore this thing! Well done!

Sid by Stuartc 2021-04-26T09:17:26Z

The sounds in the dark genuinely scared me, well done!

LD49 — Unstable

BALANCE BLOCK BATTLE by squigglez 2021-10-19T16:21:30Z

That's a really interesting take on a common interpretation of the theme! Well done!

Uranium goes BOOM! by Dilem 2021-10-03T22:26:23Z

@florianbald thanks for playing  I know the game is very difficult, but I promise I completed all of the levels and I had 1 play tester who managed to complete all of them, so it is possible

Uranium goes BOOM! by Dilem 2021-10-19T07:01:19Z

@benjamin123 thanks, yeah the difficulty is all over the place. I wanted the game to be slower and a bit more deliberate, but I think having an ability to control camera zoom could counter the lack of difficulty balance

Uranium goes BOOM! by Dilem 2021-10-19T10:12:12Z

@nebiros thank for playing, yeah a minimal of some kind is a great idea, thanks for feedback. Well done on completing level 4! 4 and 5 are way too difficult. I myself only completed level 5 three times and the only other person who managed to complete it, took close to 1h worth of restarts to do it, so it's is 100% too difficult

Uranium goes BOOM! by Dilem 2021-10-19T17:42:10Z

Thanks @zimny11, yeah level 4 is my favourite, because of how silly it is. I think if I were to revisit the game, different materials could be a cool idea. I already change the max instability of the element in levels as well as changing car properties. I think I could probably do with a little indicator before the level start with info about the properties of the car and the material.

Changes by Michael Feldman 2021-10-18T21:48:08Z

That was a brilliant little game, played the whole thing! The idea is fairly simple, but it's really nicely done! The only thing that I think is missing for me is a bit of air time. For the most part it was fine, but I did find not having air time a bit frustrating in the level where blocks that come back are introduced. Well done though!

Unstable Prison by Barrier 2021-10-08T20:41:10Z

That was a pretty fun game. I got confused at first and thought that the world was just changing around me, only to realise that the platforms could only be stepped on once. Also, the game was surprisingly scarier than I expected, well done!

Gem of Stability by JakobTheQuizGuy 2021-10-18T21:54:42Z

The game is pretty fun! It was a bit too easy to stay balanced, but still fun, well done!

Equilibrium by freeworld 2021-10-18T21:41:10Z

Neat little idea, I did find it very confusing to control the terrain, but I guess that's the point? Well done!

Pen's Panic by TomatoLamp 2021-10-19T06:09:16Z

Any game that uses hexes automatically gets extra points in my book, well done

Unstable Atoms by Harmadillo 2021-10-18T22:01:33Z

Okay, so I had no idea what I was doing for a bit (I didn't read the instructions), but after messing around and figuring it out, I found it quite fun, nicely done!

Gunslinger Glitch by ugly_robot 2021-10-18T21:36:06Z

I love the idea of using real AI for a project like this, fantastic well done. I will say however, I managed to get to the top floor on my second and third try (fist one was figuring out controls), by simply looking at images. AI is really fascinating to me and there is a certain framing to the way that most AI faces are generated that gives them away, but well done never the less, great idea!

Crewman 49 by ThatmanRobin 2021-10-18T22:05:48Z

Alright after seeing the little explosion cut-scene where camera falls I was impressed and thought I would be able to push through and finish the game, but unfortunately the camera shake and the controls where just too much, I was starting to feel ill and couldn't play anymore, which is a shame, I really with I could have seen the whole game.

Idle Is Bad by FlorianBalD 2021-10-03T22:33:46Z

That's a really fun little game. I don't know if it's intentional, but Q/D being used to move left and right really confused me. At first I was using arrow keys, but then in level 3 I switched to using letters and picking up the key I would try to go left by pressing A and I couldn't, took me good 10 or so deaths to figure out that left was Q not A, other than that, well done!

The game is...Unstable by Nebiros 2021-10-18T22:15:21Z

I adore your game. I have played There is No Game and I am actually not a big fan of it so I thought I wouldn't like your game, but your game does some thing that There is No Game couldn't, your game actually give player the freedom to mess around and doesn't feel like a linear adventure that player is forced down. Obviously there are specific steps you need to take to finish the game, but I love that in your game I am allowed to just copy letters over and over and it feels like I am messing with the game, rather than being given a very specific interaction that I need to use in a very specific way and in no other way in order to progress. Really well done!

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

LD50 Of Drones by M2tias 2022-04-16T22:56:02Z

Ended up playing it twice, first time I thought the game was a bit too easy, but then I realised that the items weren't just random things to pick up, they were power ups and that made the second try a lot more, fun I actually would go in and try to pick up items instead of endlessly backing away. I have a soft spot for power trips in games and this was fun. I wish the game started a bit faster and escalated quicker, but it was still really fun, well done!

3rd Emu australian war simulator by sebbernery 2022-04-16T22:58:59Z

I think I might have accidentally driven off the map, interesting idea, well done!

Kharon's Twilight by dob 2022-04-06T20:52:25Z

That's a really interesting game! 100% feels like there was a lot of effort put into it. Well done!

JUGGERNAUT by cogcomp 2022-04-06T20:57:22Z

That was funky! Loved the music! I was a bit confused by the great speed at first, but after picking up some items to slow down I managed to figure it out :D Really well done!

Piggy Pileup by candlesan 2022-04-16T23:16:12Z

That was really fun, I really like the limitation and flow of the game, after going for quick and easy ones at the start, I realised that I just had a bunch of letters that don't really make anything stuck at the bottom, well done!

Ludum Dare 50 by Dilem 2022-04-05T20:20:57Z

@thumpertws that's a very good point, thank you for feedback. I thought that people would be too preoccupied by the tasks to worry about exactly how much they are delaying it by, but I think I should have still put something in

Ludum Dare 50 by Dilem 2022-04-05T20:22:25Z

@very-bad-bunny-studio thanks for the feedback, yeah I wasn't sure what to call it, so went with something pretentious

Ludum Dare 50 by Dilem 2022-04-16T23:26:37Z

Thank you very much for trying the game, I really appreciate the feedback!

The Inevitable Snowman by LaneDavis 2022-04-16T23:04:50Z

That was incredible, the production value is through the roof! I love the music and the visuals. Gameplay was nice, but with how small the platforms were and how quick you could move I found it very difficult at times to land on it and difficulty is fine, but a lot of the time it felt like it wasn't my fault because of how easy it was to miss the jumps. That said overall the game is amazing, well done!

Interstellar Transport Pod by Flightless 2022-04-05T20:18:48Z

Cool idea, I was kind of confused as to what I was trying to do at first and even after I got some tiles to reappear I still don't know exactly why some clicks would make them appear and some wouldn't, might just be me

MY DREAM BACKROOM DATE by sleepyGrin 2022-04-06T20:36:46Z

Well that was a trip! Really cool and I adore the controls of choice being made with you camera, I was just nodding along to questions even if they weren't actual choices, really immersive! Well done!

The Lute & The Liar by ConnorThompson 2022-04-16T23:09:58Z

I absolutely adore the visuals, the game looks amazing. I think you have an interesting idea for gameplay, but I found it almost impossible to actually play the music. I am not saying that it's impossible, more that I am just really bad at it. I think the biggest thing that was throwing me off is that the keys were positioned in a vertical line on the screen, but horizontally on keyboard. I think if they were lined up, it would be a lot easier. Nevertheless, well done!

Tax Haven by Weirdybeardyman 2022-04-16T23:25:48Z

That was good, I am still not sure about the point of the documents. At first I thought the game was just the case of dodging the line, but one I realised you can make the HMRC run into the red circles, it was a lot more fun to try and dodge them while also baiting them into hitting the obstacles, well done!

Doomsday Cult by ConradoClark 2022-04-16T23:19:49Z

That was pretty cool, I like the art, well done!

Meteor Power by UkuleleFury 2022-04-05T20:34:33Z

Not going to lie, I was about to close the game and write a comment about how it's super easy once you figure out how to connect the panels, but then meteors started to speed up and I realised where the challenge comes from. That was quite fun! Made me wish there was some way to protect connections other than just reconnecting them again and again, but still fun, well done! Also good job for making it work in browser, but it took ages to load

Death Is Real. by waffleworksgames 2022-04-06T22:21:47Z

I absolutely adore the art, well done!

Timeflight Alpha by Quinn_Patrick 2022-04-05T20:13:14Z

Interesting project, I think it would be really nice to play with a controller, I found keyboard controls quite challenging

Good Boy eats the treat. by RobbzenOne 2022-04-10T21:17:22Z

That was quite fun. The only criticism I would have is that because of how close the dog is to you sometimes hitting obstacles slows both of you down, and it looses the immersion of a chase a bit, but it's nothing major. I really like the visuals, animations are really cure and well done on making different power-ups and obstacles. They felt generated, but I didn't feel like I saw any obvious repeating patterns. Well done!

ENDURACE - Drift Or Die by Phillip Scott 2022-04-06T20:37:07Z

Pretty cool game, well done! I quite like the controls, but because of the lack of UI I wasn't sure what I was trying to do at first until I saw the billboard in the game.

The Final Day by Very Bad Bunny Studio 2022-04-05T20:23:09Z

Really neat idea. I have a soft spot for RPG games likes this, so enjoyed this quite a bit

Inevitable Orbit by ThumperTWS 2022-04-05T20:02:58Z

That was a neat little idea, but I wish there was something more active to do. As it stands I spent most of the 2 minutes that I survived just kind of sitting there waiting for the ship to get closer to earth and then boosting a bit. It made me wish there were asteroids or something to dodge, to make something a little more active

Calcium Carnage by cactusdan 2022-04-06T20:30:13Z

Neat little game, it's a bit on the easy side, but still well done!

Love, wings & flamethrowers by torte478 2022-04-06T22:10:13Z

So I don't know what exactly I just experienced, but I think I enjoyed it. Well done with storytelling. The gameplay was a bit weaker than the story. It wasn't bad, but the wife being used as a hover ability is more of a story thing than anything, functionally it's the same if the player just had that as an ability. The alcohol and some of the levels started to explore the fact that the hover ability is imbued in another character, but I would have liked to see more of things like that. Nevertheless, really well done!

Love, wings & flamethrowers by torte478 2022-04-22T07:33:01Z

Congrats on scoring 73rd overall! I haven't played many games in this Jam, but this one was the one that I actually remembered and kept talking with my friends about! Great job!

Over Horde by StephanTTM 2022-04-06T22:21:01Z

An interesting little game, characters remind me of puffin forest youtuber's characters. Really well done!

Elite Disaster Response Team - Volcano! by Ryne 2022-04-06T22:18:32Z

That's an interesting twist on a classic idea, well done!
