First thought is that the text should be aligned better! Things seems to extend past the edges of the scroll a lot. I like the narration and story though! Creating a text-based adventure game seems somehow both simple and ambitious to me. I like it!
It took me a little while to figure out what to press and what I was expecting to happen. But pretty intuitive once the player's out there! I really like games that mix-in interaction with the music!
Lol, wow, this is what the 5-star innovation rating is for! The giraffe tongue is the best part. The rolling mechanic is cool! I love the crazy text animation, but it hurts a bit. I like the art. Very creative.
Very cool! I really like the gameplay. And great use of the theme. It's so simple, and gets so crazy so fast! I feel like there is probably a layer of strategy in there for when and when not to let the previous incarnation live by killing their following incarnation, but it gets so hard to follow!
Nice! The jump feels a little over-powered compared to the walk speed. I like the art! And definitely digging the music. JFYI, the boss didn't seem to be able to damage me at all?
:) Simple, intuitive concept, great theme idea, and some fun puzzles! I only saw instructions mentioning Space and Left Click though, so it took me faaaaaar too long to figure out that I needed to move around with WASD.
Lol, I like it! It feels like a good start to something that could be a lot of fun. The marble art is cool, and the controls are pretty good.
:( Yeah, the ladder is broken for me as well. The playback feels good, and the animations and art look amazing, so I was really looking forward to getting down that ladder! The little bit of game before the ladder already did such a great job of setting the mood. Oh yeah, I'm on a keyboard.
lol, had to try this out, for the title alone. I like the rotating map idea! It's definitely making me a little dizzy after a while though. I played single player though, so it didn't feel like there was much to do.
:/ I couldn't figure out how to get out of the first room. I can't jump high enough to get to the block. I can't seem to get the shift+space thing to happen either. Not sure what to do!
WOOOOOOOOOOO, EAT MY LASERS!!!!!!!!!!! At first I was thinking, "huh, this is a little slow and not as rewarding as it could be." But then I was quickly blasting away with four ships that the chaos was excellent.
Nice! It was pretty intuitive to figure out. For some reason, I really love blackmold being the enemy. And the looping in a square to grow faster, and the bird were fun mechanics that made it richer. Very cool!
Lol, I love the voice acting! Very well done. Pretty simple mechanics, but the time looping is clever and your level design/progression is excellent! Good puzzles. Very fun.
Lol, I hate it when my key dissolves!
:) Loved the narrative and story. The jumping is a little tricky, but not terrible. The hitboxes for interacting could use a little polish too. I didn't have time to finish exploring/finishing the game, but there are so many parts I want to finish seeing! Very compelling.
Very cool! I love the idea. It felt a little slow at first, but then I definitely was glad I wasn't moving faster as soon as a couple other red dots were dashing around. Very fun puzzles. Good level design / progression!
I like the art, and I love the premise! 😻 I couldn't figure out how to get through the first level though. I would get past the button, and then die to the two guards. Is there an attack?
Very cool! I liked the concept, very simple, and very fun! I think it could use a little more polish in places--on that last level, it was a little rough, I think a couple more seconds or the ability to pause or delay the start would have helped. Very cool idea! :) And cows are always good.
Very cool game! I love the art. The looping mechanic is interesting, and leads to some fun puzzles! I got stuck in the hole on the third room, and didn't know what to do though.
FYI, The zoom on the web version on your itch.io page seems way to big.
:) The moon face was excellent. I reeeeeally liked how you gradually become aware that it's actually getting closer and you're under a deadline! The exploring was fun, but it was a little frustrating how many times I had to loop all the way around the level because I missed the thing I was supposed to pick up (I guess that helps with the looping theme!). Definitely could use some audio. Fun art for sure.
Very interesting game! It's a pretty unique mechanic, and a cool application of the theme!
Very interesting! I got through three cinematic experiences, and am not sure what to do now. It looks like one person is rating higher than the other, but I'm not sure why, or what I should do about it? I like the art and music style!
Pretty cool! After I figured out I could rapid fire by clicking like crazy, it was even more fun. I like the simple momentum mechanic, with the simple whirlpool and pirate obstacles. Some simple elements for some fun gameplay!
The controls/GUI took me a bit to figure out, but it was pretty fun once I knew what I was doing!
I really liked the multiplayer concept! The balance seems surprisingly good too. I like the art and music. Very fun all around!
Lol, some rough edges, but I love it! Chicken premise, amazing. Random eggs, perfection. Surprise fart, genius. I like the animation and art a lot! Definitely the level design and gameplay seemed a bit hard sometimes though.
@6smith Lol, capitalism got me too! Too real...
I like the art, and the various minigames. Pretty fun trying to keep the levels balanced!
Wow, this is so awesome! At first, I thought it was kinda tedious. But after I got the hang of it, it was really interesting to puzzle through, and I love the rhythm-based aspect!
Also, since it's such a creative experience, making it easily sharable is a huge feature!
:) Obligatory replay link: https://ixchow.github.io/synthaetica/?wcmcDQmADMAAyADAAMgAyADIbMBO0QbU1ADUVFDNrpqJGYiNHa0InAAAAEDdTVTF/qjYmQCYgAjIgAjAmQzWnY0J
Cool! For repeating so much, it didn't really feel too repetitive. It was fun to see what was next.
@doomerismo Thanks! Yeah, it does support other controls, but I only rendered the indicators for WASD, for simplicity. Arrows and space should also work! I at least added a blurb for the controls in the description now. Thanks for the feedback!
:) @rob-n, @flashcash0402, @firegamer3, @dmac, @jonathanfdr, @yeomsley, @doomerismo, @sousleroc, @nick-rafalski, @zoomer, @minibetrayal, @pizzasgood, @coryru, @ubershmekel, @aterlamia, @fussenkuh, @dusho, @lombax, @barrier: Thanks everyone for the kind words!
It is definitely hard. To a certain degree, I was going for that. But about halfway through the jam, I thought it would be better to tone down the speed of things again and make it a little more floaty. But then I figured if I changed the movement, I'd probably need to redo all the levels that I'd already carefully balanced... I think I'll probably turn this into a slightly more polished mobile game, and I'll do something to fix the difficulty then. ...Hmm, actually, maybe basically just slowing the frame rate is what it needs. Then I wouldn't actually have to change any movement reach or tweak any levels. And difficulty could be dynamically configured then!
And I loved Icy Tower! I actually wasn't thinking about Icy Tower at all when I came up with this, but in retrospect, the similarity is pretty obvious! I'm pretty happy with that comparison. :)
@kunonooni Wow, nice! I don't think I've even gotten that far with hard mode! :) I'm glad you liked my music!
@scsc Thank you, good points! Yeah, I did try handling when the user presses jump just before landing, and I do plan to implement handling jump just after leaving the floor, in a post-jam version of the game. I did want the game to be fast-paced and challenging, but it definitely needs to be a bit more forgiving with the timing. And yeah, I gotta decrease the slipperiness for sure!
:) @commanderstitch You gotta bounce off those little walls! Bounce to glory!
@philstrahl Thanks for playing! It was a lot of fun watching you try it out! I'll try to make those first levels a little more forgiving next time! 😂
Very fun! Pretty simple idea, but very fun to play! I love your art. The music was fun. The mood was good. It was very playable and scaled well!
I really like the aesthetic; very simple art and animations really, but powerful and used well! And any time a game has time reversal/playback, I think it's pretty cool. Pretty fun!
There must be some bug with the walking speed; my little frog's legs are moving at 90-miles-a-minute, but he's actually moving at about 4-pixels-per-second. Jumping feels good otherwise though! I like the art!
Starts out very difficult! It'd probably help to start with fewer zombies, and with them moving more slowly. Or if you were able to one-shot kill them? I like your art though!
Wow, nice world you've created! And so much narrative! Very fun to explore. Could use some basic QoL improvements, like music and smoother movement/controls, but pretty fun overall!
I like that Dwight has a name. It makes me want to save them. I like the gameplay! But it's pretty hard. I think making the spikes a little further apart and reducing the size of their hitboxes might make it more approachable.
Very cool! I like the idea a lot, and it's a unique use of the theme! Pretty fun! The music is simple, but effective. The graphics are nice.
Interesting! I like the breadcrumb idea for the endless resetting maze room scenario. And the birds are good. I never did find the end or figure out the point of the randomly appearing purple person though.
Very cool! I love the mechanic. Good use of the theme! And leads to great puzzles! Very satisfying challenge progression!
Very creative and fun! This felt pretty unique and was a great use of the theme. I really liked the difficulty progression.
Woah! So amazing! Yup, 5-star innovation rating for this one, for sure! And for mood too! Wow, I really love so many parts of this. It took me a while to figure out getting into the next layer the second time, but the layers/inception is so cool! I love the art progression. The simple sounds are great too. So much fun!
I like it! It feels like a good board game to me. A lot of systems going on. It must have been fun to code. It's definitely hard to rate though, since I don't have any friends to try it with! But it seems like it would be good with friends.
Lol, pretty simple, but I like it.
Lol, wow, this is my favorite game of the jam so far! The gameplay was pretty sparse, but the narrative, story, art, audio, and mood were spectacular!
Cool, it's really satisfying to whack at these bullets! The bouncing walk is probably little heavy, but I like it. It's a little hard for me to place myself right, and aim right. I think if things were scaled a little larger it might be an easy way to make it a little easier.
Wow, very cool mechanic! Good level progression, and intuitive puzzles. Fun audio and images. Very fun to play!
Woohoo, a tower defense! Pretty fun! Nice art, nice audio. I did not pick up on the mechanic for hitting enter to set towers to loop on my first play through though, and that makes a difference! Feels a little slow to start.
Cool game! It could maybe benefit from a little bit of guided no-core time before introducing the death zone. Or maybe even just mention that the player should try no-core first. :) Those first 8 deaths happened fast otherwise! I like the game play mechanic.
Cool! I love the animation. It feels a little fast though; it feels like I don't have good control over my character, while all the AI really does.
I also couldn't figure out the first level; just can't jump far enough over the spike blocks? Not sure what else there is to do.
I don't understand the goal. What am I supposed to be doing with the green blocks? The mood is pretty cool though. Love the creepy whispers and cut frames.
:) Very fun! The art is simple, but good. So's the music. I like the idea a lot, and it's pretty fun to play! My brain is struggling to keep track of what to do, and the "egg timer" is ticking! Oh no!
:) Pretty simple, and pretty fun! And a pretty good use of the theme! For such a simple concept, it was very fun.
+1 to not understanding the puzzle. I like the art though!
Yeah, it feels like an exciting idea! But definitely needs some more goal for the player. Maybe it could steadily speed up, and have obstacles to avoid that would cause game over?
Lol, memo to self: _don't_ jump out into the vast emptiness of space... I love the spinning though!
Love the art and fun gameplay!
I also had the issue with the countdown panel taking up most of the screen.
I didn't make it very far through the level either. I think you somehow need a little more indication of the goal for the player.
Same. Mouse+key control combo was difficult, and interacting with the cubes via the clues wasn't very intuitive. But also the mood is strooooooooong, and the graphics and music are as well.
:) Very cool! I love the art style. It was all very well composed to create an immersive feel. I find myself deeply curious about how this mysterious adventurer is, and why he's lost in this spooky underground... Not really a revolutionary new concept, but very well implemented fun to play.
Wow, very cool idea! It was really fun to think through the interesting puzzles from this very simple mechanic. I imagine the level design for this one took some head scratching!
Wow, very fun! I love the graphics, the music and sfx are good, the intro was excellent, and the gameplay is solid! A bit more variety of play (speed, items, something...) as you progress could be nice, but this was great! It also looks like there are some slight artifacts between pixels at the edges of some animation frames.
I really like the art! It's a little hard to follow what's happening with the game play though. Could probably be more intuitive. I think I probably died 6 times before noticing when my health was reaching zero, and my upgrades were resetting. I like the idea of RPG elements with an endless runner though.
I love the concept! I was definitely confused at first, but once I figured out what to watch for it was fun! Very unique!
lol, I love it! The animation is simplistic, but that hamster is great! Very simple idea, but a lot of fun! Nice art and music.
Wow, that was fun! The sounds were spectacular for setting the mood. And I was impressed with how many assets and animations you crammed in to this! Very fun.
Cool game! Looks nice. Easy to understand, hard to manage resources! I didn't get very far.
Wow, that was fun! Very intense. It felt very well balanced, I felt challenged and pressed the whole time, but also made it all the way through.
It was sometimes a bit hard for me to track where the shots would go. It might be easier to play if your rendered a bigger more obvious cursor or something to help with that.
I like the art, I like the effects!
Wow, very cool! I love the graphics. The dialog and theme is great. The gameplay is good. Very fun, all around.
Windows version worked for me! Pretty good start! It does all seem to run well. Whacking moles is fine and all, but it just seems like we need more of a goal atm.
I wonder if your WebGL build might be failing due to building with compression? You might want to try just disabling that. I had this problem recently as well.
https://forum.unity.com/threads/unity-2020-1-invalid-or-unexpected-token-error-from-compressed-framework-js-file.839587/
Wow, very fun! I played twice. This first time, I fixed one iteration, and then the second iteration was NUTS with everything connected, and couldn't unravel after 10 minutes... Is it possible to form unfixable tangles in your game? Anyway, the second playthrough was a much smoother progression, and I got much further. Fun puzzle! I like the music too, and the conspiracy vibe.
Interesting mechanic! A little cumbersome to get the hang of, but very clever! I love the art and music
Woohoo! Basic JavaScript for the win!
Nice clicker. Well done!
clicker-win.PNG
Very nice! I like all the models. And the animations. And the effects. It feels a little slow, but good simple gameplay all-around!
...I did definitely immediately start out by just walking straight down for a bit before realizing I wouldn't find anyway, but, meh, user error...
Very cool! I love the pixel art and the music is fantastic. The combat controls feel a little hard to use. I'm impressed with your procedural level generation! Very fun.
Very fun! It was well-balanced at the start, but it seems like it could use some additional twists/challenges as you unlock more things. But very fun! I played for much longer than I was planning... I love the art and music. And bunnies are always great.
Hey @felo07, thanks for playing! :) I'm also impressed by our composer and artist! Sorry about the looping! We had a last-minute bug that broke the game-end condition! We've pushed an updated version now.
Hey @david-u, thanks for playing! "**Sigh**" Sorry about the looping! We had a last-minute bug that broke the game-end condition! We've pushed an updated version now.
Lol, fun concept! Great dog.
Cool game! The changes in camera angles were a little hard to track. But I really like your intro animations and voice over work! Great music too. Great models and animations.
:) Fun! The ants seem to kill you way too quickly if you let them touch you, but at least they're easy enough to dodge. I think the green flying balls add a good depth to the gameplay, otherwise the ants would be too easy to avoid. I think the upgrades were fun too.
+1 The itch.io downloads are in parts and non-functional
Great graphics! Interesting mechanic. I'm not sure what my goal is though. And it seems like there should be something to avoid as well..
+1 404 :( It looks like fun!
I like the art! Yeah, I eventually just started spamming all four keys, and it didn't seem to hurt. Seems like this needed just a little more extended gameplay, but I'm sure you know that!
Also, I had to download your files, unzip, and then spin up a local server to play your game. Most folks won't get that far! I'd really recommend getting an itch.io account and uploading your zip file there. It's super simple!
404 on itch
Cool, that was fun and unique! I think it was a little too hard to aim--I had a success rate of about 25%... But nice graphics and interesting mechanic!
Cool! Simple, but fun! I think there might be a problem with the framerate though? I tried the windows download, and everything moves _super_ fast. Can't really see the enemy before it already got me.
:) Very fun game! It was a lot of fun to play. I was more captivated than most games I've been trying.
Great pixel art! Great music! Really nice feel to the game. Well built!
But, I really wanted to try to hack your leaderboard afterward... Or submit vulgar names.
:) Very fun game! I like stacking blocks. Take me back to toddler-hood, why would I ever want to do anything else?? (oh, making games is cool too, I guess...)
Nice 3D models and rigging, nice block physics, nice background music (could use a bit more, but that's ok!). Good sfx. Fun!
Oh, I did notice the phantom-block-to-be-placed didn't match the cursor position. There is a scaling issue somewhere with that. I needed to move my mouse much further than the block actually went.
Wow, what a great game! I love the art, the mole is very cute, and the enemies are very creepy! I was terrified when I found my first worm thing. Then it collapsed itself, and I got a _ton_ of points! Nice! Very clever and fun game. Also, the music and sounds are great.
Lol, brilliant! Very calming sounds, beautiful art, oh look, a pretty kitty, let's just dabble in the water here, see if a fish will bite, oh looks like we got a nibble.....OH NO!!!!!! AHHHH, WE'RE UNDER ATTACK, QUICK WHAT TO DO?? Oh, it's all over now. Look, we got a fish!
Lol, completely accurate. Highly informative. This will change the way I live my life!
But, could you please make the Porthole OS loading screen take a little longer to load?? It feels unrealistically fast to me...
Wow, this Surfree music really slaps! Really excellent!
LOL, NOT THE YETI, AAAAAAAAAAARGRRHHHHHHHH!!
Wow, what a great booby.
This, my friend, is a masterpiece!
Windows 95 _was_ unstable! Great use of the theme!
:) Very cool! I was a bit stuck when I got to the room where I _had_ to let the dimension-swap timer elapse, in order to break the wall blocks. And the sword swipe vertical positioning is a bit fiddly--sometimes it was hard to jump at just the right height to break a wall. But very fun gameplay! And good concept!
:) Cool game! Wow, yes, very challenging! But a really great feel. The movement mechanics are solid. The simple art style all fits together really nicely. The music adds a good depth. The sfx are good. The tutorial is great!
:) Cool idea! I like it!
I had a moment of panicked confusion by not knowing how to control it at first! But it felt very obvious, once I actually thought about what the keys were showing.
:) lol, a masterpiece! Run free, little ponies, run freee!!!!!! I mean, music, art, sounds, comedy, horses, five hours? Good mix!
:) Cool game! I also was a little frustrated by the goals overlay always hiding most of the screen.
Also, my bomb went off, and the game went crazy! Probably what was supposed to happen, but it was a lot of shaking!
I also liked the bird.
:) Fun game! I love the title. And the music is all really excellent! It's too bad you hide it behind that slider! The actual movement mechanics could use some polish. But really, a pretty fun game. I really like the character animation. And nice particles everywhere. You had good indicators for falling rocks. Very well built!
Nice game! Not too hard to play, nice models, could use some sounds! Fun gameplay
:) Very fun game! The art style of the menus and the actual gameplay is great. The music is nice. Great slidey sfx. Very fun and clever puzzle mechanic! Nice level designs!
Lol, it's like Human Fall Flat, meets Frogger, but with zombies...and washing machines, obviously. :) What's not to like! Nice art, nice music, nice grunts, nice flaily appendages! Very satisfying, and totally realistic, collision response when getting hit by a bus!
:) Very cool! I wanted to get all the things in though!! So much great narrative here! Nice writing.
:) Cool game! I like the concept. The art was good, and it was all put together very well! Fun to play!
The player is up a little too high--feet float off the ground.
:) Very cool game! I really like it. So many bonuses and extra improvements! Geeze, it's like you had no time limits to make this! Nice art, nice mechanics, I like the falling-apart level. VOICE ACTING!! Very, very cool.
Lol, I mean, it's just a swing, BUT, I still felt very compelled to see if I could get it to loop all the way around. Yes, yes, I could.
(I like your clouds!)
:) Woah, nice game! Lot's of great stuff going on here! Great art, good music, very nice sfx, so many good particles and effects. Pretty hard though! But definitely doable. It would probably be less frustrating if I could at least restart in the latest level/room/portal I'd reached. I really liked the audio and visual shift into the second room.
And, hooray, eyeballs! 👁️👀👁️👀👁️

:( I'm getting virus alerts from Windows when I try to run it
@zarkonnen Yeah, I should have made the boulders a lot bigger for crushing those tricksy Bobbitses!
@kekkodude Thanks!! I'm glad you like my music and sounds! I always like doing those bits!
And thank you so much for the error screenshots! I definitely didn't have time to playtest this enough, and I'll take a look!
@ddolgov :) Thanks! I'm glad you liked it! FYI, sfx are the suuuuuuper easy with tools like sfxr or it's derivates (I use [Bfxr](https://www.bfxr.net)). And the eye took so much time, but I really like how it turned out too! Fire animations are tricky!
@mathiouza :) Thanks! Those are both great points! I actually meant to tighten the game over trigger, but disabling other input as soon as they land, but a delay before the actual lose condition is a good idea too. And it didn't occur to me that the second action when triggering boulders and villain placements needs a better indication, but that's totally true! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
@loig :) Thanks! I agree! Next time, I promise myself I'll spend more time playing with music composition, and I won't try to fit it all in when there's only three hours left in the jam!
@prostone :) Thanks! Yeah, I definitely need better indicators for those!
@ollieoa :) Yes! Hooray, Godot!
@almog :) Wow, thanks! Yeah, good point about the finish condition--it does need some polish. And I should definitely add some better indication for how to use the buttons!
@potkirland :) Woohoo, thanks! Hooray, Godot!!
@nshbae Good ideas! Glad you like the art and sounds! 8-bit is the best!
@becky-rayner Thanks! I'm glad you like it!
@shared :) I'm glad you enjoyed it! Yeah, I use two packages that are on the Asset Library (and I made them both): [Scaffolder](https://godotengine.org/asset-library/asset/969) and [Surfacer](https://godotengine.org/asset-library/asset/968). Scaffolder does most of the work for the UI and screens, and Surfacer does most of the work for the AI.
@uraffululz Thanks! Yeah, I wish I had a little more time to polish a few things on mobile. And I also probably should have toned down the orcs a bit, but they _are_ pretty fun this way!
@johnathan-peres Thanks! :( Yeah, there are definitely some big crashes in here that I need to fix. I'm glad it at least works most of the time!
@gdman Yeah, those are good points! I should probably both widen the visible margins, and constrain where the orc is allowed to go. And definitely add better indicators for the second interaction for everything other than the tremor.
@kalevrk :) Thanks! I'm glad you like it!
@caeonosphere :) Thanks! I think I made it slightly more powerful when they're higher up. It also should try to push away from center, and if they hit a ceiling that'll likely stop their motion.
@molpe :) Woohoo, I'm glad you like it! Thanks for playing! It was a lot of fun watching your video
@erkberg :) Thank you so much! You're fun to watch!
@gustavo-christino Thanks for playing!
:) Cool game! Great pixel art! Could use some simple sfx though! Very clever, and fun to play!
Nit: On itch.io, I want to play it in full-screen mode, but I always have to press escape during the key-press minigame, and that kills the full-screen mode and pauses things!
:) Cool idea! It was a little hard to figure out what I should be doing at first, and then it was a little hard to keep track of the status of each person and room. But I think if there were easier-to-use indicators to help know what needs to be done, this could be pretty fun to play! Nice simple sounds and art.
Can confirm, it works now!
:) Nice game! It was pretty fun to jump around and shoot those evil cubes! Veeeeery easy to fall off though! Nice music.
I'm not really sure how to play this or what the goal is. It seems like you've put a lot of work into it though! I like the terminal design. And the theme and writing is good!
:) Wow, very fun! I love the mechanic! The UI is a bit confusing--for example, I kept trying to drag letters onto the thrusters themselves. And the actual flying was very challenging--even when I had the thrusters all set up correctly! But very fun. Nice idea!
NOOOOOOO, NOT MY KIDNEYS!!!!!
Wow, very creepy game, I love it! I really like the pixelated 3D shading. Some very nice subtle effects throughout, like the bloom around the plumber and the very faint music at one point. The lighting and level composition is great. Very fun game!
:) I like it! Very calming. I'm really digging the music. The sfx are nice. The graphics are good! The gameplay feels like it needs something more to keep me motivated. But nice game!
:) Cool game! I like the simple art, and find myself wanting to know what's happening to your brother! I liked when the piano came in too.
I also agree that the collision system in a bit rough. Good thing you have a reset button!
Wow, very simple but very compelling mechanics! I love the clever level design with the gravity-swap orange regions. That last level was great. Especially with having to time my movements to dodge the angry-bit bullet storm.
Graphics, music, and sfx all fit nicely! I like it a lot!
:) Cool! I really like the shifting walls that you have to watch as you move around. Great idea! The art is fun, and the sounds are good.
But I made it crash! When I finished level 2, I just saw a black screen.
:( I see a link now! But it's giving me the sad-frog 404 itch page.
Wow, what a beautiful game! The atmosphere is truly incredible. I love the art style. The world is amazing to explore. The musical moments are gorgeous. I love the simple footprints-as-characters. Very beautiful game. Give me more!!!
On my first playthrough, I got stuck in the far side of the starting pool.

:) Uh oh, what have I done... RIP. lol.
Very fun! Not sure what my monkey hands at the keyboard were doing necessarily, but we all like to push buttons and see what happens!
Great dialog and portrait art!
Nice! This was fun to play! Good mood. Not too hard, but I still felt on edge!
lol, "You used to be able to hear, but years of blowing yourself up has rendered you deaf." Aw, shucks. I hate it when that happens.
This is compo? You must have been more well-rested than me. Words are hard. ...but really, I'm so curios, how long did you spend writing all the different you-are-dead messages??
I found level 3 VERY hard. Not sure what I was supposed to do, but I eventually made it by just placing the bomb and jumping with the right timing and ignoring the middle little platform (a red herring?).
At one point, the game did crash on level 3? (hop and a skip), and I had to restart.
Level 5 was interesting, and challenging, but I knew I could do it, so that was fun.
I eventually gave up on blitzing bomberman. That was tough!
Fun concept and mechanic though! I love the bomb propulsion. With a little polish, this could be a great game!
...and now I've just seen your playthrough. I didn't think about the combo-bomb propulsion increase, and I definitely wasn't thinking about the jump-momentum preservation. And wow, you make it look easy. Maybe I was doing something wrong to make the jump spacing harder?
And in C++, nice!
:) Wow, great game! Very very fun to play. At first, I thought, "oh, so this is very much just like asteroids, but you can't shoot and move at the same time." But then, I found my first upgrade, and I was unreasonably pleased. Nice music, fits the vibe. Good sfx. Nice art style! Well built!
:) Very fun! I love the concept! Nice dialog. Great art! Nice sounds, good music! Easy-to-understand HUD indicators. Fun to play!
The Windows version works fine!
:) Simple and fun rhythm game! I really like the art. The sounds are good, but could definitely use more of them! And music of course. Great game!
:) Cool game! I think it might have been more fun if you didn't have control over the speed. I liked it more when I just held the fast button down, and cruised along. The camera was also a little low, so it was hard to see around my horse butt! But nice art, good sounds, fun game!
I don't really know what Roblox is, but it seemed legit, so I didn't mind installing it and creating an account.
It looks like your itch.io page works now.
:) Very cool! I like the concept. Pretty challenging, but definitely doable! Fun game!
You mention music, but I didn't hear any.
:) Cool game! I really like the mechanic. Good concept! Fun to play.
:) Cool game! Very creepy vibe. The skewed platforming was an interesting idea! Great music!
:) Cool game! Some of your room designs are very devious! I like the room-shift mechanic and it's animated well! It feels like the jump mechanic could use a little polish, and it could definitely benefit from some audio, but very fun to play!
:) Nice game! I like the music and sounds. The art is great! The gameplay is good. But it does feel a little repetitive by the end. But it was fun to play, and overall a good game!
JFYI, full-screen breaks the scaling for me (it looks like things are becoming way too big).
Wow, your game is great! It is very fun to play, and feels well balanced! Great execution here! Cool graphics, fun upgrades. I liked the balance between needing time to pause shooting in order to level up.
:) Very fun! Really great sound effects throughout. And the music fits the vibe very well too. Fun art, good tower mechanics! It does feel less intense on later waves, since each action you make matters less at that point. But very fun to play!
:) Cool game! Definitely too hard though. I cheated heavily. I really like the pixel art, and your music is fantastic. The game became very laggy after I died in the crazy light-beam level.
:) Wow, this was so much fun to play! After a while, it made me feel like I was popping bubble wrap. Very soothing. The dirt-popping sound-effect really helped with that vibe. And it wasn't too hard! I saved everyone on the hardest difficulty on my first try. I love the randomly generated dirt (I assume random?), and the fluid simulation was really nice. Great pixels! Nice music!
Not bad for 6 hours! It's a decent gameplay experience. There is some strategy with the jellies. Could use a couple simple sound effects!
:) Very cool game! I really love the simple and beautiful colors and sounds. I found the mechanics pretty unintuitive. I really wanted to be able to "walk" off the edge, rather than having to do a strange double-tap with a slight nudge in the middle. But I really love the concept!
lol, this game is hilarious! Amazing concept! Great music! Great graphics! Great references to a classic Sega game. Really cool distraction worms playing off-beat tunes.
:) Very fun game! I like the light mechanic, and you've lots of great little details, like your light radius decreasing when losing power. I was very happy that I re-spawned at the last battery when I died too! Nice simple art, nice very Mario-esque music. Good sounds. I like this one!
:( I can't get it to run on my machine. Windows 11. I couldn't run the .jar directly, so I downloaded the _w_Java version. Clicking on the .bat file, I see a console window and the actual game window flicker open, but then close immediately.
Here you go!

@phoenixofforce No worries! I hope it's just failing for me!
:( I still see an error. And it looks like less info to go off of this time too.

:) Wow, very cool game! The concept is very simple, but the execution and balancing is excellent. I love the pixel art and animations. The few sound effects add a lot! A simple song in the background would be nice too! Who needs color--this is great! I played through a few times, and each time I died, I thought, "I'm pretty sure I could make it a lot further if I do _this_ next time...", which means you made something good here!
:) Very fun! I really like the different slash pixel art for the different directions. Nice detail!
The different enemies and blocks are all really great. I love how each wave feels different. The difficulty and pacing is great. I like that there are really a lot of things dropping constantly, but it's still not too many.
Good music and sounds!
:o I didn't realize you could double jump or wall jump until I watched that video! (Though I do now see that clearly written in the description, oops!)
:) Very interesting game! I got to level 3. It's hard for me to wrap my head around the strategy for this, but I do like your very clean and beautiful UI and animations. It could definitely use some simple sounds though!
Very cool! Would really benefit from some very simple sound effects and music. A tool like jsfxr is great for creating interesting sfx in almost no time at all (https://sfxr.me/). But it's a very playable game! It was fun, and I did want to play through a second time.
:) Very fun game! I laughed when I first picked up the fire by accident. Game changer!! I love the pixel-art. And I love the intro music.
Wow, there are so many great things about this game! First, hooray, Godot! I love the catchy music. Nice party vibe. Great decorations that constantly change the look and feel of the level. Very nice pixel art and animations. So many extra particle effects all over the place! Don't let anyone tell you this has too many hidden rooms. This is the perfect number of hidden rooms. All other games are seriously lacking. I didn't find a guest though! Oh nooooooo! I may have to replay.
Also, as soon as they announced the them, I thought, "Aw crap, this is going to be the most depressing collection of games I've ever seen. All about trying to scrap-together the last moments of your life before you kick the bucket...". So, thanks for such an up-beat entry!
I did get stuck inside the walls a couple times, but it's great that I'll just get reset anyway.

Also, I just noticed that you also use Aseprite and Pixel FX Designer, both of which I also love using.
@markopolodev I think it only happened twice! I _think_ I was traveling diagonally upward into a wall-meets-ceiling corner both times? They were at different spots. I don't remember if I was punching.
:) This is very fun! I also struggled with the UI a little at first, but I really like the simple kiting gameplay, and all the upgrades are really satisfying. And really nice pixels! The music starts too quiet, and isn't very interesting.
:) Nice game! I really like the driving mechanic. Very nice AI cars and obstacles to maneuver around. I love the blocky art style. And thank you for including some simple audio! Nice execution all around!
:) Very fun! Simple mechanic, but very well executed and a lot of fun to play. I like the ominous voice sound effect, and the spikes and blocks sounds are good too. Very nice pixel animations. Nice game!
Interesting game! I was also very confused about how to play.
At first, I couldn't seem to get anything to happen when I clicked on fire or sword. Except MP would decrease, and no enemy HP would decrease! Eventually a little red square did finally appear under the cursor (maybe only when I pressed the fire during the right time relating to turn end?). And then I could use my red-square-of-death to annihilate all enemies with abandon (and without any loss of MP! (which is good, because I was basically out by then)).
Also, I almost gave up on the game before realizing that you can indeed pan the camera around by moving the mouse--it's just that the region of the window is like four pixels from each border.
But it seems like there are some solid elements here for a fun game! Nice sounds, nice art.
:) Really love the crushing deadline mechanic! It's a great way to really feel the time crunch. This was very fun to play. I liked the different things to build, and the simple strategies around them worked very well. Nice art. And the music and sounds were really excellent!
Wow, this is an amazing game! That's a ton of level design for 72 hours! Gorgeous intro, and 3D models. Right at the very end I finally figured out that if you hold forward while in the air, you tip forward! That. Is important to know. Very impressive game!
:) Great game! I really like the blocky voxel art. Really great mechanics and progression. Nice simple sounds. This was fun to play!
@games-by-tom :) Yeah, I _think_ that's pretty good! I honestly didn't have time to playtest enough as I tried to balance everything, but I think that's a higher score than I usually get, and I have all the background knowledge of how it works!
And thanks, I'll fix that zoom-out bug in my next project!
@mwillsey :) Thanks! I'm glad the multi-bot controls worked out!
@cogcomp :) Thanks! I'm so glad my simple (and way too quickly thrown-together) chiptunes inspire joy!
@zackavelli and @baconeta :) Thanks! Yeah, it really needs a few more indicators for what's happening, and the balance is a little rough. Also, I just realized I'd broken the music in my last build! I just pushed a fix to turn that back on.
@baconeta :) Phew!
@yamaisiukdranko, @cresceda, @arihan10, @remicraft, @oxnh, @myazuid, @filgru, @dilem, @lako, @fireslash Thanks for all the kind words! I'm so glad you liked my game!
:) Next time, I promise I'll have better in-game indicators all over the place!
@iambaangkok :) Thanks!
I made the font! You should go check out [fontstruct.com](https://fontstruct.com/), it's really fun/easy/free to use to make a font!
Or here's a link to my simple pixel font: https://github.com/SnoringCatGames/scaffolder/tree/master/assets/fonts/pxlzr
@charq :) Thanks for playing! And thanks for the link! It was fun to watch you figure it out. Yeah, I definitely need to improve on the controls and indicators and difficulty balancing. I'm glad you liked it!
@nyxkn You have to hold-down A, then click somewhere! Sorry the controls are so confusing for this one!
@markopolodev Wow, that's the highest score I've seen! Nice! Thanks, I'm glad you liked it!
:) Very interesting a fun collection of mini-games! I like the art, and the music is great. It could use some more sound effects. Lots of good dialog and story line elements! Very good game!
Holy cow, this was fun! The concept is amazing. The art is incredible. The gameplay is really good. The bot is adorable. The sounds and all the details with space debris and particles adds a ton. The music you chose multiplies everything by 10.
:) Very cool game! The art is incredible! The idea of balancing treatments and side-effects is really good, and it's very interesting to think through when playing! A couple simple sounds and a simple free music track would have really helped the overall feel though! But I really like this game.
:) This was very fun! Nice balance, good wave progression. The levelling-up for the units is a great aspect. It definitely gets to the point where you can't click fast enough to place out all your units though! Nice music, great pixels.
:) Very cool game! I really like this. Poor volcano, I just want to make you happy! Strong Katamari Damacy vibes. I like the details like the sky color changes when the volcano gets angry. There are a couple rough points, like sometimes it's hard to see where you're going when holding things, and sometimes the things you're holding can get lost in the ground when going up an incline. But fun game! Excellent 3D models, great music!
:) Very fun game! I liked the random Dodo facts. The art is very fun and cute! The mechanics are simple, but work well! The music and sounds are very good.
:) Short and sweet! This was very fun to play. The fast-paced feel was good, and it still wasn't too difficult to get through. The music is solid, and the sounds are good. It could obviously use a little more variety and length, but overall nice game!
lol, at "very blocky wizards". Pretty fun! I like the pan back and forth turn-based mechanic. I think making me choose a random action with a quick time limit makes it feel like an interesting a new turn-based battle game. The music and sounds are good too! :) And the blocks work..., but could use a little more love.
:) Very cool game! I like the idea a lot. The art is simple, but really nice. I love the tile animations. The balance seems pretty good. A couple other variations in mechanics would make this feel like a really great fleshed-out game!
:) Really fun game! Definitely needs some balance tweaks. It took me a couple play-throughs before I learned that you pretty much have to build things in a pretty set sequence at the start. And don't run out of wood!!
Beautiful art. Great GUIs. Excellent mechanic. Fun game! Just needs some music!
Definitely the best submission I've played so far.
:) Fun game! I really love the 3D modelling. I couldn't make money faster than it cost me to feed myself! Rough! It could really use a simple music track. But I like this a lot!
Yeah, the gameplay logic seems unfinished? But the pixel-art is amazing, and the music is great!
I was so close!! And then. Soooooooooo far!
:) Great game! Great simple models and textures. Excellent level design. Beautiful concept and well-built mechanic. Could definitely use some sounds and music to help the overall vibe!
:) Cool game! I like the mechanic! The exposition up-front was a lot to read, and I was still a little confused about how to play afterward. Lol, really great music and art!
@jovialknoll It's always hard to get the tutorial bit right! My game this jam suffers a lot from this too.
:'( Well, that's sad.
It didn't really seem like there was actually much purpose to the gameplay. But, the overall presentation was excellent! Great little story. Nice animation. Beautiful pixels. Good music!
:) Very cool game! It is an impressive amount of features for Compo, well done! I love the pixels. It could really use some simple music and sounds (in case you're not familiar with it, something like https://sfxr.me/ makes it really easy to generate interesting sounds in basically no time). Nice balance, fun to explore, I love all the little narrative moments. Really nice GUIs.
Lol, what a great idea! And clever title. The mechanics are so simple, and yet, there is still some skill and strategy involved. You can't help but smile when you play this. Nice art too!
"You are a horse [...] you bite, you kick, you trample, you destroy worlds." Well, that escalated quickly!
Hah, a dikcs sheet...
Wow, so many cards, so many effect descriptions, so many flavor texts! And all the art is great.
I watched most of the video. I'm impressed with what you've made! This seems like a ton to do in 48 hours.
I got a veeeeeeery negative score at first. But, on my second play through I had it figured out. It's pretty fun once you know the strategy!
The ding sounds are very pleasing. It could really use some simple background music. I like the pixel art! Nice game overall!
Screenshot 2022-04-05 113047.png
I'm confused about how this would be played. Could you give some description or instructions?
:) Very cool game! Simple idea, but it feels really smooth, and it's a lot of fun to play! I really like the art style, but the contrast does make my eyes water a bit after a while... Nice tunes too!
I'm confused about how to play. I'm not sure if my key presses have an effect when they should. Is mouse or arrows involved? I'm not hearing any audio. And I'm seeing a repeating error in the console about the font file not being found. So what I'm assuming is a descriptive UI box is just a blank grey rectangle for me.
:) Nice game! It's still a bit difficult, I think. But the mechanics and controls are solid, and the aesthetic is great! Some simple "chunk" and "ding" sfx would really tie it all together! :) Extra props for being adventurous with Godot 4!
:) Very nice game! Great mood, nice dialog, solid mechanics, good stealthy tenseness. Excellent sfx. Kinda a shame to not address the theme, but that's ok! This was fun to play!
:D Cute, clever, fun! I love popping balloons--always a good time! The cloud with an umbrella seemed right, not sure why. The jumping controls were snapping and satisfying, the increasing difficulty with the ascending clock hand was great! Very challenging to meet the quotas, but not impossible! It seems to have deviated a bit from "10 seconds", but it's obvious how it got there. Nice game!
👮😎 I'm _definitely_ not a cop.
[I'm _definitely_ not a cop](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qBE9TZP26FI)
:D Fun game! I found it a little too challenging too quickly though. I really like all the upgrades, but after three play throughs, I always died after not too many waves. Since sounds and music! Good gameplay. Nice pixels.
:) Nice concept! I love the gradually disintegrating level mechanic, and it fits really well with the story concept. Really nice pixel art and animations! Great simple sounds and music! I think the levels were a little tricky to get through, and the fact that it restarts you all the way at the start of the first level rather than just at the start of the latest level is a little rough. I didn't get past room #3. Adding a health bar would help a lot. But really nice game!
:D Nice game! Simple concept, and it works pretty well! The pushing feels a tiny bit imprecise, but at the same time definitely has enough forgiveness to work well consistently. Well-balanced levels. Fun to play! Obviously could use some background music, and maybe a bit more art polish.
:) This was very cute, and a lot of fun! Very clever use of the 10-seconds theme. I really liked all the puzzle mechanics, though they often seemed a little finicky to get through. Great concept, great story, great art, great music and sounds. I love this one!
:D Very cute game! I think your focus on graphics and mood are obvious! This was a very fun vibe, even though the controls and gameplay aren't the most compelling. I love the wiggly animations. The models are all excellent. The sounds and music are fantastic. This is a really fun little world you've created. I really struggled with trampling too many mushrooms when my momentum kept me going forward after I wanted to stop. But it was forgiving enough anyway, which is really good.
:D Very fun game! The mechanics and controls were great. The upgrades were all very satisfying. The 10-second pacing and level-design felt really really nice. I love the pixels, and simple sounds. This was a lot of fun!
:D This was a lot of fun! Very simple controls, but still very fun to craft stuff! I love the simple pixel art. The sounds and simple music are great. I think the controls relating to z-indices, where new items spawn, and/or being able to select the actual thing I want that is now underneath the other thing could use a little bit of improvement. I'm impressed by how big and complex your tech tree is!
@blk-dg Oh no, sorry about that! I assume that's happening because of how long it's taking to load the massive level state (my AI is not at all efficient!). I uploaded a new version of the game that should have fixed that to make things playable for you (chopped the level in half)! Thanks for the feedback!
@bukkaketears Oh no! I think that has been fixed! Yeah, the web experience is really not the best--I should probably just remove it. Thanks for the feedback!
@dgo Thanks! 🎵
@fnelix Thanks, I'm glad you liked it!
@blk-dg @jmad Ok, I fixed the problem! Apparently my Windows exports weren't working due to a typo in an image filename. Godot apparently was happy to handle the invalid filename when running in-editor and in an HTML export, but not in a Windows export. I'm so sorry about the bad experience!
@dimaswift 🎵 Thanks, I'm glad you liked it! 🎶
@cybek :) Thanks for playing! Yeah, it definitely needs lots of improvements for performance and gameplay guidance. Next version for sure!
@honey-pony :) Thanks for the detailed review! Yeah, I definitely had plans to add better command controls, and to fix some of the terrible framerate issues--if only I had another 48 hours!
@decrementedpalindrome Thanks! Yeah, the lag is really terrible. I had some plans to fix it, but ran out of time! I'm glad you liked my music and pixels!
@chuckiee :) Well, considering how unplayable it is otherwise, I'm glad there is a cheese method in there!
@pkenney :) Thanks! Yeah, I definitely should have focused less on some of the the unnecessary bits, and more on the core gameplay! Also, some of the UI and pathfinding bits weren't too much effort because of the libraries I used.
:D Very fun game! Simple controls, elegant mechanic, lots of fun to control, tricky but not too tricky to do! The art is good, and your music and sounds are great! This was a lot of fun. Nice volume of levels too! The 10 seconds didn't seem particularly important, since gravity always gets me by then anyway.
:o Wow, this is impressive! Definitely a steep up-front learning curve though. Lots of text and critical thinking that I suspect the average player isn't going to have the patience for. I'm impressed though with both with how well it all works, and how well executed your graphics are. You have a very impressive amount of text in here. I think this probably could have been a little more approachable with a lot more work put into very incremental, tiny tutorial steps.
:) Maaaaaaybe not the most original game, but I have a really really soft spot for a good tower defense, and this checks all the right boxes! Very simple gameplay, but I really wanted to keep on playing until I filled up THE ENTIRE GRID with my grand plans for a convoluted bug death maze. Thanks for this fun entry!
And I was definitely destroying and replacing towers constantly to help destroy all the bugs in each wave, but that almost felt like a fun aspect of the game, rather than maybe something I was exploiting!
:D Excellent! I played a lot of Ski Free, so this really struck home. Nice pixels! Lol, great sounds. Very playable! Gotta love that jump.
:D Wow, really impressive and a lot of fun! I love all your excellent pixel art! Each stage immediately puts a smile on your face when you see it. Your sounds and music are great (thanks for including them!). Really great animations. The gameplay works pretty well in each minigame too. Except _maybe_ the flappy-bird-style jump game was a little tough--I gotta release my jump faster each time! This is very impressive!
:D Very fun! I tried the tutorial first, and I kept losing, so I thought I was terrible. But then the actual game wasn't so bad! The framerate is terrible, but it's still pretty fun to play! The frequent upgrades are very satisfying. Nice graphics, great sounds! Thanks for this fun game!
:D Wow, this was a lot of fun! Really great pixels. Nice snow effect. I loved the little detail of the snow flurries around the green bouncy orbs. You have really nice sound effects too. The controls feel really great and easy to use. HOWEVER, your jump-press-timing around your green bouncy orbs should be a lot more forgiving! There were a couple orbs in particular that each took me ~30 tries to get past, and which shouldn't have been that hard. But this was a really fun game! More please!
:D I didn't quite make it to the fourth supply, but I really wanted to, just so I could hear what the music would do! I love that you put in the care to have the music change as you progress--A+. Nice pixels, nice sounds, great narrative. tricky controls, but not toooooo bad. Often pretty impossible to avoid being eaten by the monster the instant you notice it, so that could probably use some tuning.
:) Wow, this was very clever and a lot of fun! Really great dialog and an amazing story idea! Perfect fit to the theme. I liked this a lot!
How can I play this? Did you remove the game link?
@grilladroid Ah, oops! I somehow thought the big box with a play button was a YouTube trailer, not the game embed!
:o Wow, very fun game! Very unique and clever mechanic! I'm hard-pressed to think of a game with the same level of really fast-paced spacing-based gameplay. The simple colors, shapes, and animations are all great. And the simple sounds and music work well too. I love the screen transitions as well. Really great game!
The only criticism I have is that my mouse would somewhat frequently freeze for 2 to 3 seconds, which usually had a pretty significant impact on my health!
:D Wow, I really love your music--it keeps getting better and better! I really love your game concept. The simple black and white aesthetic with the simple geometry works really really well. Your animations are excellent. The controls are great. The level of difficulty is _almost_ good, it just needs to be a little more forgiving--maybe with like three hits before you lose. It's just not as fun getting back up to where you'd died before.
You're on to something! ...but, I'm not sure quite what yet. I did figure out how to get somewhat far through the dialog on my second run, and I like the variations in puzzles. I'm curious what the story was getting to, but I was also a little lost. Nice graphics, very intense mood from your sounds!
:/ It wasn't clear what I was supposed to do. I think that sometimes dropping a ghost into one of the sideline pacmen feeds them? But it doesn't seem to work most of the time. And I'm confused about what's supposed to be happening at night? Assuming I'm just supposed to feed ghosts to sideline pacmen, what's the challenge? It seems like the winning strategy is to just feed one ghost per day (so I don't risk getting caught with one in my mouth at sunset), but that seems pretty slow and not very interesting. I didn't really like the diagonal up/down movement, it wasn't very intuitive for me.
:D Nice game! I love the pixels. The enemies are great. The differing chicken/monkey abilities are great. I like the 10-second switch. I wish there were some simple sounds, and I wish I could move at a diagonal. I didn't notice the depth-perspective on the walls until the second room, and then I was like "Ooooooooh, nice touch!"
:) I've played much worse! Clearly there could be some polish in terms of how the randomization works, and how mushrooms are placed not too close together, and with enough space to maneuver around. But the basic gameplay idea isn't bad, and it already plays ok. It's pretty forgiving since you don't actually have to get any mushrooms in a round to keep progressing. Not bad!
:) Wow, nice game! I actually like the surprise hazardous purple blocks. I think they give the game a lot more depth. I'm really impressed with how well things shift around as soon as they slide out of your viewing radius. Nice pixels! Interesting sounds. Fun game!
:D Very fun game! Could really use some simple sounds. The patched controls were pretty usable. I didn't figure out that I could control the camera with the mouse until halfway through, but it was pretty ok even without that. I really like your aesthetic and art direction. I wanted the gloomy black cloud things around the edges to be more prominent or involved somehow. I like the new platforms that appear with lights out. Nice use of the theme!
:) Nice game! I like the idea of an aggressive active scarecrow! And it was very satisfying to punch the crows! I'm not really sure how the harvesting works. And your UIs all seem a little broken--probably ran out of time with those! Great art though!
:) Wow, what a fun game! I love the concept. Really great art and UIs. Simple and compelling gameplay! It felt a little too difficult for me personally--I kept wanting to get a little further and really stress-test my machine with the number of sprites on the screen! But this was so much fun!
:) Lol, I love it! "See Mom, headshots don't have to be so violent!" This was very fun. It feels like it needs just something slightly more to make it more of a full game. Maybe some timing element. But I really liked the simple changing goals each round. Moving around seemed entirely optional. Nice models, nice music!
@paulsams Your stream of consciousness here is a bit hard to follow.
Are you saying that games shouldn't include RNG? Seeing as the vast majority of games out there do include RNG, I'm not sure you have a very popular opinion. In particular, most bullet-hell style games need to use RNG in order to give you hope for clearing the next wave of enemies, and lucking out with a great upgrade. It's the critical hook!
And it sounds like you didn't actually play through very much of the game or you'd have seen that things like the machine-gun-spray-style upgrade, sniper-style upgrade, glass-cannon upgrade, and various alternate weapon unlocks have a big affect on changing the gameplay. The core element of a bullet-hell-style game is pacing and spacing, and this changes drastically with most of our upgrades.
But thanks for playing our game!
:) Wow, really cool game! Nice pixels, nice sfx, great music! The mechanic is unique. It felt maybe kind of hard to get as high of a combo as I'd like, but maybe I just didn't figure out the trick to it. The balance was pretty good though! Not too hard to die like some games. This was a lot of fun!
:) Nice platformer! The controls are very fluid. Wall jumps are always a good idea. I like your models, and the shaders are of course fantastic. And great music! This was fun to play!
:) This was so much fun! I love the art. I love the music! I love all the characters! Very cute game.
:) Lol, very cool! Definitely a new mechanic! I love the sound track. Also, I love cats. This was fun and different! Thanks!
:) Very interesting mechanic! It took me a while to figure out for sure. I read through the rules, and then I didn't understand that there was a little monkey somewhere in there on one of the tiles. But after I figured it out, it made sense! Clearly, some simple UI/UX treatment could help this be a lot easier for players to understand. But the core idea is fun! Thanks, this was a clever and unique idea!
:D This game is amazing! I love all of sprites. The dash animation is excellent and very satisfying. The narrative and story is so engaging, and really meta with the whole creating a game thing we do in a game jam. The theme and aesthetics really mesh well together to give this a really gripping atmosphere. The enemies are really fun. Each pattern is interesting and different, and not too hard. The unweaving/weaving mechanic is really interesting, and the puzzle-play that comes out of it is really great. I'm amazed at how well you implemented all the different aspects of this! Best game I've played!
:) Very cool mechanic! The first moment I saw the foreground interacting with my character, my brain went "oooooooooooh", and I was very impressed. This would be a _great_ mechanic to explore in a more full-fledged game! The sprites were great. The audio fit the mood. I loved the deathly theme. All-around, good job!
At one point, I wandered off to the left, hoping I could get back to the previous screen, but instead, I just got stuck offscreen (screenshot attached).
Screenshot 2023-10-07 002628.png
:) Wow, this was fun!! I really love the art, the narrative, the audio, the gameplay, all of it! Thinking of a mobile-first interaction is always a great thing to do, and this uses touch simply and well.
The second level was really hard for me. I kept hitting both light balls near the end. It took me toooooo long to realize I should just go through one of them rather than trying to fit between them.
I really like the character and the narrative and your cool unique text box system. BUT, I _really_ don't like that the back/next buttons around the text box move when the width of the text box changes with the contents of the text. Not great UX. But, I mean, if I'm complaining about that level of UX in you game, the main bits must be ok!
Thanks for calling out the bits you did ahead of time and borrowed from elsewhere! Technically, you probably shouldn't be going for ratings in audio and graphics if you didn't make it all yourself during the time window, but I guess they seem pretty minor parts.
:) Wow, this was so much fun! The animations and sfx are sooo satisfying. Whack, pow! THIS ICE BLOCK IS MINE!! Also, I love some good honkey tonk. This is the perfect scope for a jam game--very short and simple idea, but extremely well polished! Thank you, this is definitely my favorite jam game so far!
Beautiful! Veeeeeery cute cat! Really nice simple art with the edge-lighting of the void kitty. The music and the art really fit well together to make a tense game! I really liked the bucket mechanic, it gave this just enough extra something to make the gameplay more interesting. Good job!
The ldjam embed shows an error, and the itch.io embed seems to be at a broken scale or something (screenshot attached). I wish I could play this! It looks fun!
HTML versions are definitely the best way to go. But having a Windows download is a great fallback for 90% of the other folks out there.
lmk if you fix the itch.io version! I'll give you a review again later!
Screenshot 2023-10-04 230755.png
Woah, the world art, narrative, UI, and audio are all amazing! They really work well together to give such a cool mood to the game. BUT. The gameplay is lacking a bit. I'm not really sure where to go? I heard north, but wandered around a bit and never got there. I also got stuck at the start like some others seem to have done (screenshot included). I definitely was hooked, and want to discover more!
image264.png
:) Very fun and very cute! And great puns. Really nice puzzle designs! And sooooo many levels! I'm impressed.
:) Very fun! The models were great, and the concept was excellent! I didn't quite finish it, but I understand the design. Did you mean to add audio? I didn't hear anything.
:) Very fun puzzle game! I love the flowers concept. And all your puzzle designs are really great. Many of them are quite challenging to figure out! This was a lot of fun.
:) Very fun game! I mostly felt like I was clicking around at random, but it was a fun story to watch play out anyway. The mood you've set with the simple sounds and art style is really great.
:) This was a lot of fun! Who needs more than rectangles and simple particles!
Wow, there's a lot of interesting systems here! I love the pixel art style. Cute mouse. The core mechanic of performing simple actions, but needing to rearrange crewmembers each time, makes for some interesting gameplay! Also, the tutorial is solid (and essential!). :) Very cool game
Wow, this was maybe my favorite game so far! I guess not really innovating on much here, but it was all so well-made and so fun to play. I love the pixels, I love the animations, the sfx were spot-on, the music was great, the level-design was compelling and fun to puzzle-out, all the unlocks made sense and were satisfying to get and to use, and I _did_ want to kill the old man!
🍔
:/ I can't get this to open on my machine (Windows 11). I just see a nearly-blank black screen, with a tiny bit of something faint in the top-left corner. Screenshot 2025-04-11 130034.png
@Sn4pi :) Thanks! This sounded fun, so I was really hoping to try it out. The shaderless version worked!
I love the pixel art and animations. The controls feel a bit unintuitive to me, but they work well enough once I figured it out. I love the dialog and atmosphere! This was a lot of fun. It felt a tiny bit slow to me at the start, but I guess that helps let the atmosphere sink in. :) Very cool game!
:) Very fun game! I love your pixel art. Great fish variety. All the upgrades feel good, and decently balanced. BUT, I feel like I always die very suddenly at the end when I feel like I still have lots of health. But then other hits from the same kind of fish seem to do a lot less damage. But overall, very impressive systems you implemented!
:) Such good doggos. Such good sheep. Very cute concept, and well executed! I was very confused about what was going on when the baby landed, and when I hit a million--I didn't want to disintegrate all my sheep against the edges of the screen! I carefully grouped them up into the middle! But nothing game breaking. Very cool game!
Daww, very cute! Nice art style, and I love the subtle color shifting. The gameplay is also pretty fun. The musice is really great. BUT, let's not overlook the true masterstroke. The cow sounds. 🤌
Oooooh, there're some big bugs down there! I got eaten.
:) This was so cool! I immediately loved the feel of the controls. Both controls (move and fire) are so simple, but feel so good. I love the flexible rope simulation. I REALLY love the sfx. They feel particular good for some reason. The skeletal animations are all very effective and satisfying. The bug behavior is fun. Just curious and wary enough. They feel good.
I'm very impressed with this game!
So creepy! I got the master key, but got stuck after that, as I couldn't tell anything from what I was seeing! Which was the goal, I guess. But I also couldn't really figure out where to go with audio cues, and I think I kept getting stuck in corners. Also, I think I saw the final door through two windows next to each-other, and there may have been a door I was supposed to open and get through to that room, but I couldn't figure out how to go through the door after opening it. Or, I did and was completely unaware! Very cool atmosphere. Very immersive. I love the distortion effect.
Lol, "*insert deep backstory*" Wow, you added a lot of text in here! I like the animal art. Obviously, some animations and sound could be nice. And... :( I can't figure out what to do. I'm guessing I'm supposed to be able to click on the words in the "You need to use at least 2 words of the following words in the name" page to progress, but I can't click on anything.
:) This was fun, but _very_ difficult and so many jumps are so precise! I liked the mechanic a lot. Very unique and fun! Also, nice pixels! But it was just a tad too hard to keep me playing for long.
:) Cool idea! I liked the island level. There were a couple bugs I noticed. The first time I played, the music stopped after maybe 30 seconds, and didn't start again. The next time I played, I got a couple videos, and the music restarted in different locations a couple times, but then the music restarted in a place, but the dogman wasn't there.
Fun game idea though, and nice implementation for a game jam!
:) Very cool game! I love the effects to make it look like an old movie. The music is simple but good and effective. Sound sfx would be nice! I like your pixel and animations. Sometimes the attacks didn't seem to really line up with the effect though. And I was often confused about the behavior of my minions and why they're wandering all the way over there... but, I guess as a leader, you're often confused about the behavior of your minions...
:) Very fun game!
Lol, tax collector--everybody loves that guy! :) This was fun! Great pacing. Not too hard, but you still die plenty often. My only gripe is that I don't know how to actually collect all the tacks without hitting all the coffee cups! Nice simple audio, and nice pixels!
@dgo :) Thanks! Yeah, it is a bit abrupt and unforgiving! We did tweak bunch to tone down the difficulty near the end, and I also added a last-minute flag to switch from triggering death to just triggering back to the zookeeper screen, but that then felt too forgiving! Yeah, losing only gold seems like a good compromise
:'( But I want all the coins!! Nice game! Good mechanic idea! Nice sprites. And great level design! Each level made sense and was interesting. It all progressed quite well.
:) Gotta catch 'em all! [Screenshot 2025-10-09 212459.png](///raw/2de/12/z/6f27a.png)
This was a lot of fun. So many mechanics going on! I had more fun than I was expecting doing jumps in the van... But then I found the high jump watch. Thanks for not making me re-collect everything when one got stolen! Also, the sound is far catchier than it needs to be, and with excellent ticking and tocking! Very cool vibe
lol, we _do_ always save the good one-time-use items, don't we?? Fun concept! I really like this interpretation of the them. Gameplay-wise, it was a bit text-heavy and involved a lot of waiting for the actions. But I really like the concept!
Lol, wow, you win! I love it! Every mini game made me laugh. The concepts, the art, the sounds were all perfect 🤌
:) Very cool game! I like the guidance text. But the difficulty ramps up a bit too fast! Pro tip: Always make a game-jam game easier than you think it should be! The best platformers out there, with famous difficulties, have a lot more polish to the edge-cases with their movement mechanics. But these controls still feel pretty good overall! Just a bit hard to make some of the jumps consistently. Nice pixels!
Lol, this was delightful! I've never had so much fun brute forcing something. I could _mostly_ figure out what meant what, but they boy's request was tricky for me. The art is great, the sounds add so much ("I might close up early!"), and the concept was so much fun. Thanks for this!
Lol, the characters and story are easily my favorite part. All the iconography of the symbols is also pretty impressive! Obviously the music and art are top notch! The core mechanic was cool for a bit, but it stretched a bit long for met. Another small twist of some sort maybe would have made more compelling for me to bear with all the memorization. :) Very impressive submission though!
Lol, very fun! I love the art and models. The level and crowds are really well designed. Great panning audio. It felt almost to forgiving though! If I realized an arrow pointed to the far side, I'd just be lazy and give up. ...Don't hire me for event maintenance!
Aww, I think this is my favorite submission of the jam so far! Such a good boy. Did you record your dog for this?? I really like the mechanic, it works very well, and it's a really great alignment with the theme. So good!
Ahh, I was very confused about what I was supposed to do before I read the comments here and understood that it's multiplayer! :) That's very cool for a game jam! Not as much fun solo though :/. Also, I started up off-screen, and didn't see anything happen for a while when I was trying to move around, so that was also confusing. I like the background music.
:) So good! I really love your pixel art. And I love a good point-and-click. Every time I hear any voice acting in a jam game I'm so jealous I didn't do it. Really great mood and narrative!
Weeeell, crud. User error. I was trolling it with most responses, and I told it Linux, but I'm on Windows. So... I think softlocked myself. :( Man, it was just getting to the Godot part! :) But it was already pretty amusing
Oh, interesting! Yeah, like others said, sound would help it feel more fun pretty easily. I like all your upgrades, and the controls were fun to use. The periodic damage pattern mechanic was well-executed and just challenging enough I think. I think I was seeing a bug where my health value wasn't always updating correctly (and maybe my score value too?). That was definitely a bit confusing on my first playthrough!
:) This was some really fun puzzle design! I'm very impressed. Very pleasing art and music too. It all fits very well together. Thank you for this fun experience!
Woah, this is a fun vibe! I definitely brute-forced it to find some things, but I guess that's what we're supposed to do. It doesn't feel _so_ bad to have to start over once you know where to go. I liked the aesthetic, and the music is excellent!
VICTORY! INTERGALACTIC DOMINANCE IS MINE! MWAH HAH HAH!
This was fun! The signal spatial mechanic was subtle but very effective! I lost very hard my first try, and _just barely_ gained more momentum than my opponent the second.
Very fun!
Screenshot 2026-04-23 211902.png
Lol, the voice acting make this game twice as good! And the dialog is very amusing and well written. The models are all well-made and I really like the dialog animations! I love the details in the level transitions too. So much attention to craft in this game! Great submission!
@thunderklaus @gamebuilder Oh no! I had a route path regex typo on my server! It should be fixed now. Please, go forth and discover the elusive Kittenbaticorn!
@zakchaos :) Thanks! Yeah, I both regret spending as much time on the pixel art and animations as I did, and I regret not making visibility levels higher! But, it was hard to figure out the right balance to also convey the immersive bat-like echolocation feel. I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
@purrseus 😭 Oh no! On the one hand, I'm so sorry my water drowned you so close to the glorious completion of your full set of coins, and on the other hand, Mwah hah hah, you fell for the trap! ...but mostly the former. Yeah, it's hard to properly play-test it myself when I know where the super deep lake is that I'm, of course, going to fly over without fail. I'm also glad you left the tab open, thanks for holding out for me to fix the route matching!
@haln :( Yeah, it definitely can be awkward depending on which key combinations you use. I _did_ add redundant support for WASD, arrows, gamepad, and mouse, but I didn't make sure to figure out and suggest the optimal layout by default. And yeah, you're definitely right that the echo location shader should last for longer. Again, this was my limited by my biased playtesting when I already knew the level layout. :) I'm glad you liked the art!
@msipp27 I liked making it! I'm glad you liked it too!
@conradoclark :) Thanks! Yes, all great feedback and good points! In particular, I wish I made the reattach to ceiling more intuitive and more meaningful to the gameplay. It felt like such an obvious mechanic to add (and to start-out with), but, yeah, it's pretty meaningless in the actual gameplay. I'm so glad you liked the look and feel! I definitely spent most of my time trying to get those right. Yeah, it was hard for me to gauge whether the level hazards and enemy behaviors were the right level of difficulty, but hopefully they were just challenging enough! :) And I'm glad you liked the ending. My daughter definitely did too.
@meta-link Yeah, I get that! I did try to limit the visibility to enhance the immersive feel, and I _tried_ to make the mechanic compensate for that, but it's definitely tricky to replace normal persistent visibility! :) I'm glad you enjoyed it!
@theoratkin :) Thanks! I kinda was hoping going into this that I'd get a chance to try out implementing a marching-squares system (I had a _little_ bit of an idea for what I was getting myself into...), and I didn't _really_ have to (the echolocation was the main important bit for the gameplay, immersion, and theme), but I'm pretty glad it ended up working out! Thanks for playing it, and I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
@gamebuilder I hope you eventually got a chance to try this out!
@bentglasstube :) Thanks! The enemies were color-coded in the same way the blocks were, so you could have killed them with a couple blasts of the right color. Or, yeah, I did want running to be an option! :) Glad you made it to the end!
@silentwander :) Thanks! I was a little hesitant at first on the kitten+bat+unicorn combo, but really pleased with the result!
@djtequila Yeah, I guess the bugs are a little too similar to the enemies! I didn't even think about that. I'm glad you liked the pixels!
@tedrey :( Oh no! Sorry. You _should_ be able to fly out, but yeah, I made that one pool reeeeeeeally deep.
@fifut :) Thanks! I'm glad you liked the music! I love those beepy sounds too
@gamebuilder Thanks for trying it again! :) Yeah, I love those '80s games. Q/E were just meant to scroll one way or the other through the selected color echo frequency, so you can blast enemies or the level with the right one. A minimap is a great idea!
Ook, this is a fun idea. I'm sure another small twist or two could make this compelling across a handful of additional levels. I didn't mind the aural experience, I thought it was intuitive and important for the game feel!
Lol, this should be the #1 winner on humor. So much fun! Waaaaaay more fun to do it wrong! Really great dialog! Very clever conversations and responses, while not branching things tooooooooo much. This was really well executed, I'm impressed!
:) This is fun! I love the terrible control! (🤣 Or maybe I'm just terrible at it!) It's _just_ doable enough to not be too frustrating. It took me a second to realize what I was supposed to do with the resources to build the links, but the game did make it clear enough to figure out, which is great! This Nice models, and the music fits well.
:) Wow, I love this concept! The music with a timed beat is critical. And the color-coded block widths is genius. It's still so hard though! 😭 I like your sprites and animations too.
:) Nice theme concept! I like the models. the music is great, but a tad more variety would be nice! Difficulty is a little high, but definitely doable. Overall though, well implemented!
:) Nice! Yeah, this was definitely challenging (especially on my trackpad!), but I managed! That probably means it was just right. Nice art, nice music! I like the clean-up afterward twist. This was a fun one!
:) This was a lot of fun. Really great minigame mechanics, really great use of the theme, great pixel art, great frantic gameplay! :( I did get laid off in the end, but who doesn't!
Lol, this was so much fun. I love the voice-acting actions. I love all the mechanics of the vehicle. It's so unwieldy, but it works! I bet this would be a lot of fun with couch co-op. Nice level design too! And great art.
lol, I don't know what magical car ability let's you make all the traffic in front of you fly out of the way, but I want it! This was simple but tons of fun. I kinda wish the cars didn't just fly up and out of the way though, but would actually sometimes fall back to the road and cause cascading collisions into other cars to create a sort of car avalanche. But this was fun! I like the shader effect too.
:) This was a lot of fun! A really well-implemented mechanic, and a great spin on the theme. I love narrative games like this, and this was a fun story to unravel. Thanks!
:) Love a good clicker. Cute bots, nice pixels! This was fun, thanks!
AHHHHH, THEY'RE GOING TO EAT ME!!! But, worth it for poor little whiskers. This has such a great atmosphere! Really good sounds, and the spatial audio really makes you feel immersed. I love your outline echolocation shader, it feel really nice (I did a similar thing in my game, and which also has a cat!). The intro video really blew my mind, before realizing that of course you could manage that because of AI! It was a great intro clip. All-in-all a very well put-together game!
Nice! I definitely skimmed the text instructions, so didn't realize that I had to press [ to get started, but once I did that things were a lot more doable! Nice models, and nice ambiance. I struggled to get the click to work on one of the towers, but it was still fun to explore!
Oooh, I love a good bullet hell, and this is a good one! Great pixels, really well executed. Each room is interesting and well designed. Good tile designs too. Nice enemies too! And great weapon upgrades. This one was a ton of fun to play!
:) Nice! That's a well-executed simple concept, and very fun to play. Man, I miss elementary school PE now...
This game _should_ have been easier, but wow am I apparently too impatient and greedy! I mean, I died a _completely_ reasonable number of times before making it to the end...
Excellent level design! Simple and effective mechanic. Pretty fun puzzles! Cute characters. This was well executed!
I'm not sure I understand the goal. I click echo, and a blue rind appears around the circumference. But why? And where are the bright white blocks mentioned in the menu? But, I like the effects, and the concept sounds cool!
:) Very fun! All great knobs. Love a good knob. The writing was good too! GOTTA SPIN FASTER TO FIND OUT WHAT'S HAPPENING, AHHH!
Lol, so excellent! Random kebab vibes and cats, what's not to like! I really liked your level design, and the meow and clue mechanics worked quite well. The music really added to the vibe. Obviously this could use some polish on geometry edge-cases, but I'm pretty sure you prioritized making the right bits excellent!
:) I find that every Pico 8 game I play makes me unreasonably happy. Maybe that dates me? idk. Good stuff though! I like your art. And your music and sounds even better! This was a great implementation of a ship shooter, with good powerups!
