LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Volcano Life by LukasDonkers 2022-04-12T17:54:37Z

This is a fun game, I actually felt compelled to play it a bunch of times. RIP Billy. The motion is smooth, and the music is lively. I feel like it would be better if the lava pauses while you are shopping, otherwise there's no time to appreciate the items in the shops. I've no idea what I am buying, only briefly looking at the stats, I think I've seen a BBQ?

This is such a great concept. I love the character animation: it is quite original, it is cute and spooky at the same time. Reminds me a little bit of Adventure Time character designs, which I absolutely adore. The whistling sound is incredibly soothing, and fits so well with the animation style. Everything is cohesive and the gameplay is very smooth. I wonder if it could be expanded with interesting levels of different shapes, and some kind of threshold (time-wise or remaining-squares-wize) to pass to the next level, or perhaps simply add more little ones, or both.

The Ribbit by omer1615 2022-04-05T14:58:43Z

Very cute animation & tune. Couldn't figure out how to "keep the rhythm" - felt like the water catches up to me after a fixed time regardless of what I do.

Tick Tock by Dudum Lare 2022-04-06T20:04:47Z

This game gave me a good chuckle. Very good take on the theme. The art / animation is very consistent and neat, the gameplay is clear if simple. A little confused by the premise, as I thought initially that you only get fired if you are seen near the clock, but it looks like you are fired if the boss simply sees you anywhere in the office. This is fine gameplay wise (would actually be too simple if it was only near the clock) but not very logical as a story element. Some bugs: The task list overflows easily and then it's hard to see what the newest task is. It also looks like sometimes tasks simply stop working even if they are still showing on the right.

Don't know if you made all the graphics & music from scratch, but if so - well done! The game ended up very atmospheric. Neat little platformer with great story flavour. One comment would be that the info popups disappear very fast once you pass the spot, so if you didn't expect them to happen - you have to restart, go there again, read it properly... all while the reaper on your tail (I am still not sure if it even pauses while you read). Also the ending is a bit abrupt, no "Congratulations, you escaped Death!", aw.

Comet by EduSilva 2022-04-07T18:12:06Z

Very neat little game, simple and cohesive.

Tin Can by Hiku 2022-04-06T18:33:17Z

I was originally tempted by "survival" tag, but the game is definitely more a simulation than a survival. The core mechanics is there, but some important explanatory fluff is missing: - We are supposedly in space, but this is not apparent ingame - There's no indication of decreasing photosyntesis, which is perhaps the most important mechanics that's supposed to limit your ability to just survive off trees forever.

If I didn't read the description here - I would be very confused! Hard to say if the game is balanced, as finishing the run takes real dedication. The end doesn't feel inevitable - I spent good 20 minutes doing nothing but planting eggs, after which I got bored and killed everything manually, otherwise I fully expect it would self-sustain for at least an hour. It could well be a good simulation, but I am not dedicated enough to play it thoroughly. Pixel art is cute though.

3 Days At Sea by JamieOK 2022-04-05T15:43:16Z

The visuals are very pretty, however there's not much to do to actually "delay the inevitable". Interactible elements don't seem to have any practical effect. As said in the description, the sights are really all you have left.

Lumberjack by DAk001 2022-04-12T10:43:04Z

First of all let me say that the art is absolutely gorgeous.

However I seem to lose very fast (which is, perhaps, skill-related). A little bit of rebalancing could do wonders, along with more "stages" - perhaps, the tree grows, and with its growth the watering/fertilizing requitements and the activity of the ghosts changes, making you have to adjust... Well this is all idle musing, for 3 days this is definitely a solid game with beginning, end, and even a menu.

Good luck with your further creations!

Drop by chingle 2022-04-07T20:23:35Z

That's a crafty little game, very hard for me but I can appreciate the design nevertheless. Took me a bit of time to figure out that I can "puff" it at any distance as long as I am not blocked by a spike - at first I thought puffs only work at close distance. Did you manage to complete the level yourself? Definitely reminds me of the flappy bird, haha. Cash in on this while it's fresh!

Unfinished Valley by stochastic 2022-04-08T18:10:21Z

Great atmosphere and art. The gameplay is unfortunately unfinished (the game stops working for me if I put anything in the chest, so there's no tangible way to "delay the inevitable"), but what's there is a solid foundation for a morbid farming simulator. Some kind of a cross between Graveyard Keeper and Darkest Dungeon, as I see it. I like the idea of displaying random nightly events as cards drawn by the skeletor.

Happy Piggy Farm by TomatoOmelet 2022-04-05T15:19:18Z

Quite engaging. Played through it twice (to get the 2nd ending) but otherwise there's not much replay value at the moment. The mechanics is easy to figure out which is good. Art is cute and consistent with the simplicity of the game.

LD54 — Limited Space

This Robot Wizard Game Is Taking Too Much Disk Space! by jandourek 2023-10-15T21:34:22Z

This was a very fun little puzzle. Music is lovely, although I think you don't cycle it because it stopped playing at some point when I forgot the game in the background. Who needs falling and colliding, so overrated...

Magical Veggies by zanagi 2023-10-05T18:52:00Z

I respect you for mentioning that it's based on an existing game. Still well done for implementing it from scratch. I have to admit, I did not need any of the spells to complete - I think it would work better if levels were significantly harder so that you actually need to use them, but you get more spells to use (2 pops per level won't make a difference, at this point it's just a flavour).

Not sure what I am doing wrong, my masterpieces are getting 0 score :(

@kristinamay I played in Firefox, so that's likely the issue. I know you said it only works in Chrome, so I brought this upon myself ;)

Anyway, it's a lovely idea, and well executed theme.

Hello, Darkness by Rinta 2023-10-04T22:47:44Z

Released a patch with following bug fixes: - Item picking now works accurately - Adjusted some collision shapes on items - Adjusted positioning of left-hand/right-hand items

Hello, Darkness by Rinta 2023-10-05T11:40:40Z

@ukulelefury added a Windows download!

Still unsure what's wrong with itch.io version - it works fine for some of us, and then it does this for others.

Six Floors Under by maxededo 2023-10-05T18:24:15Z

The level with the fish operator got me stuck, I don't get it - there's not enough turns to turn the crocodile, push the sheep, kill the troll, and leave...

The game is neat though, I like the art and the music, and it works smoothly. TV Panda looks menacing. Unsure about the theme - yes, the lift is small, but the space limitation is not part of the game mechanics, it's just there.

RedHood by TonySlav 2023-10-17T15:56:36Z

The art is lovely, and the music is proper spooky. Agree with earlier comment that no-fighting platformer mechanics is a neat idea to play with. Unsure how this game fits with the theme (unless we count all platformers as "limited space" genre). Reached the house, which I assume is the end of the level, but nothing happens - would be nice to have a simple end game screen for the feeling of completeness. Good job!
