Pretty cool game yall got here

lyssa 2023-10-04 03:25

I loved the graphics! The simple pixel art with the super calming elevator music is a great mix for a game where you're an assassin. Though, I would have liked a bit more of a tutorial I was mostly able to figure out what to do after admittedly too many tries. I feel like being dropped in with no clear guidance of what I needed to do dampened my enjoyment a bit.

profugo-barbatus 2023-10-04 03:26

Really could have used a tutorial or something - the graphics are great, but the gameplay doesn't explain itself very well at all - The target panel doesn't populate, so the first few runs I died just not knowing who to kill. Mechanics like push don't seem to work, or if they do work, I don't know how. Having to actually make it back out isn't clarified, so I spent a while failing trying to figure out who else I was supposed to kill, like the other goon.

A little time spent introducing and directing the player and this would have been really nice.

blazejmg917 2023-10-04 03:52

@profugo-barbatus thanks for the feedback! The target panel was a bug we've now put effort into resolving, so we're sorry you ran into that issue before we got to it! And we definitely agree that a tutorial is something we should add, but couldn't quite get too during the jam time limit

blazejmg917 2023-10-04 03:53

@lyssa thank you for the feedback! We agree that a tutorial would be useful, and we'll hopefully get to add that to this game in the future!

asfdfdfd 2023-10-04 19:42

Love your main gameplay mechanic and ALSO love your superb visual style!

kankje 2023-10-04 20:54

Unique idea and interesting puzzles! The last one was a bit too easy though, I wish there was more 😁

ranzor 2023-10-04 22:46

Very nice game. The art and music combines very well to create a nice cohesive theme.

drumgadget-433 2023-10-04 22:59

I don't have a whole lot of critique, this was really well done! The art style was lovely, and the music was also excellent! It hit the mark exactly. I really liked the variety of restrictions introduced with each character. However, I did feel like the puzzle solutions were more about plotting an optimal the path to and from the doors than they were figuring out how apply the other mechanics.

If you were to expand upon the concept, I'd love to see the NPC attributes expanded upon so there's more opportunity for interaction between the characters. In my opinion, I think that would help to draw some of that focus back to the puzzle solving aspect of the game. Maybe the crocodile eats any lamb which it is facing directly after "x" amount of moves... something of that sort!

Overall, this is a good concept, and one well executed. Definitely a game I'd enjoy playing more. Great work!

thomas-gelman 2023-10-04 23:07

Really epic game, LOVE the art and music!

candyyy0728 2023-10-05 00:13

The ui pages is so cute, really like this design !

mahc 2023-10-05 00:42

Super fun concept! I think would be extra badass if you could plan all your steps in advance, press play and watch at all happen quickly

rumiaobsessed 2023-10-05 04:33

Love the graphics, especially the panda! What a unique and well executed concept.!

blazejmg917 2023-10-05 05:04

@drumgadget-433 glad you enjoyed it! and yeah adding more unique npc interactions is the exact plan we had for a stretch goal! Didn't quite hit it yet, but we're very close to getting some cool interactions working so we might just make it happen for an expanded version!

stevenjmiller 2023-10-05 05:49

Fun game, I played to the end. I really liked this take on the theme, and I thought the presentation was very well done. I would've liked to see an undo button or quick restart key just to speed things up when you realize you've made a suboptimal move.

rickylee 2023-10-05 14:15

niiice ^^ wish it was longer. stunning graphics, puzzles are fun and well made

honestspoof 2023-10-05 18:03

really cool! i feel like a little more could be done with the alligators but its still good for being a tiny, fun adventure. the animations for restarting a stage were a little bit slow though.

also when the panda guy said "your next mission will be arriving soon" i kept reading it as the assassin being tasked with arriving soon, like he was being scolded for his punctuality.

and the music is bangin gosh golly.

adam-konig 2023-10-05 18:08

This was super super good. A really concise and clear puzzle game with super refined play space and mechanics to understand and learn. Was surprised you had to solve it in exactly the minimum number of moves. I would have maybe made some leeway for players who make 1 or two mistakes and give them a bonus for doing it in the fewest number of moves, but definitely added some great challenge!

rinta 2023-10-05 18:24

The level with the fish operator got me stuck, I don't get it - there's not enough turns to turn the crocodile, push the sheep, kill the troll, and leave...

The game is neat though, I like the art and the music, and it works smoothly. TV Panda looks menacing. Unsure about the theme - yes, the lift is small, but the space limitation is not part of the game mechanics, it's just there.

magalix 2023-10-05 18:25

Good idea ! And solid art ! Well done.

rakthalekk 2023-10-05 18:26

Really cool game, it's a simple concept but incredibly well polished. The art and music are both super good and I love the style of the game. The mechanics are easy to pick up and the puzzle designs are interesting; I'd love to see how you could expand the concept with new mechanics

anton-zhuk 2023-10-05 21:36

Loved how polished this looks, amount of mechanics hits just right for the introductionary several levels, that are avaliable, feels like a part of much bigger game, but without any compromises on quality, common on such a time limit!

toooony 2023-10-05 23:15

Love the graphics! The music and sound effects are amazing! Well done!

nicoli-gradinar 2023-10-06 10:52

might be the best graphic presentation i've seen around so far, it is just so captivating!

fannevada 2023-10-06 11:02

i love the graphics!

phoenixstroh 2023-10-06 16:48

this was such a fantastic submission!! the graphics were really nice, the sound was wonderful, i really liked how the music changed when you killed your target! really polished work!

lain94 2023-10-06 17:18

I really loved this!! It was a very nice experience and quite funny. But honestly, I didn't know how to manage after trying to distract the rest and kill the target. T_T I am in love with pixels btw, so I really liked your pixelart guys, the UI was also another great thing COMPLETELY PROFESSIONAL, congratulations!

krassenstein 2023-10-06 17:25

Thanks for letting me play this! Excellent job! Absolutely loved this!

Here's the VOD on YouTube to watch the gameplay, just skip to your chapter on the video! https://youtu.be/-eCnQ8GAhN8

maxededo 2023-10-06 17:38

@krassenstein thanks for giving our project a play! Definitely gonna be watching your play through, glad to hear you enjoyed it :)

blazejmg917 2023-10-06 17:44

@krassenstein thanks for playing! It was cool to get to walk through the experience with you on your stream!

matthewdrake 2023-10-07 02:15

Really cool puzzle game, loved the graphics and audio!

cardboardmoon 2023-10-07 02:45

Like others, I had trouble with figuring out why I kept losing! I was playing the web version. I found someone mentioning that you had to make it out of the elevator within the moves allowed as well, so I gave it another shot and played through it all! Pretty engaging and fun concept. I love how it almost feels like a typing game at some points, because the wrong keypress can kill a level for you. Sometimes I had wished that there was a one or two move buffer for mistakes and allow for alternate solutions. Moving suitcases would have added some interest too. Regardless, the art and music are great, the game is fun once you understand it, theme usage is very good. Well done!

nicolasjl9 2023-10-07 03:14

Nice!

mycookie 2023-10-07 07:38

Oh My God, this game is so fun. I like the art and audio, this is a game I would play everyday on the transit. The only thing I was stuck at the beginning, was exiting the elevator after a kill. I didn't know I had to leave the elevator.

claudiu-bujor 2023-10-07 15:54

cool graphics, keep up the good work

civmaniac 2023-10-07 19:08

Nice sokoban-like game. Sound and gfx work well to establish mood. Would be cool if operator said different things when you fail. Love what you did with the music! Good game.

meo-benderson 2023-10-07 20:45

Interesting concept. Nice little puzzle game

gabriel-chan 2023-10-07 23:45

Really cool game! Artwork and music are 10/10, loved it!

yuio 2023-10-08 01:39

Incredible job! The art and music are phenomenal and the puzzles are expertly designed to guide you into finding the solution which is insane considering this is only a jam game (the grave level was my favorite). There were so many times where I just went "wow that's so smart to do". I can honestly feel like you can make this a fully-fledged steam release if more content and dialogue was added. I only wish there was an undo button. Absolutely loved it!

axlplosion 2023-10-08 10:03

Your idea and execution were on point! This really fits the theme well, and the game is super well polished too. I only have one major critique, which is that it takes way too long to restart a level, it should be almost instant. Since the moves are so limited, and it took me a while to realize I also have to escape the elevator, I ended up getting very frustrated early on.

Some slight tweaks could make it much more enjoyable, but regardless, you did a phenomenal job! The different types of bystanders and the design of each level was very well thought out, and the audio and graphics are super nice. Great work!

nyxkn 2023-10-08 12:25

A really good game! The setting is very nice, and a great use of the theme. Art is really cute. Elevator music is very fitting :D Gameplay is smooth and works really well. Choice of zxcv for actions was a bit odd. Using the home row asdf or top row qwer would seeem more intuitive. Also the most used command, move, on pinky finger? Not ideal. Other than that, I really enjoyed this game. Intuitively, I tried at first to push bags instead of people and was confused as to why that didn't work. The kill sound effect I thought didn't fit very well with the stealth vibe. Anyway, a really well executed game and very immersive. Definitely feels like a complete experience. Impressive entry!

Also regarding rules, it is allowed to make bugfixes, but something like adding a tutorial isn't. I understand you're providing the original version as a download, but the itch.io version is what most people are going to play, so IMO the itch version should be the original one, and if anything, the extra things can be added to a download.

ffffchai 2023-10-09 04:28

I came back and read the comments section and realized I had to get out of the elevator (sorry I may have missed the information in the game myself), the level design was precise and the experience of counting everything was great. The art is also very polished, and the different observer types really enriched my strategy a lot! Great game, well done.

lincolnsalles 2023-10-09 05:22

After playing dozens of games I'm a little lazy. I couldn't understand, when I kill the game ends. I know there's something there, but some people also thought there was a lack of a better tutorial. But the graphics, sound and theme are very good, just confusing to understand what I have to do. In fact, today I have suffered from this, many games are not very intuitive about what to do. I have to think about this more in games, it's very important. Thinking about how I can make the objective clearer in my own game

anirbas 2023-10-09 05:56

I finished all the levels, it's soooo fun! I really like the cute art style and the elevator muisic. The puzzles are well designed too. This is definitely one of my favorite submission, nice work!

adamcyounis 2023-10-09 06:48

Heya! Thanks for sharing. I really enjoyed the vibe of this one, with the anthro animal characters and general murder mystery tone. I thought it was an inventive approach to the theme, and an interesting take on a familiar puzzle format. I liked the way the turns were counted in floors, though I really missed an "undo" option to rewind the game a few steps. With puzzle games I feel the fun is more in finding the solution than executing it, so a rewind probably wouldn't have hurt the fun for me at least. I did find the controls a little cumbersome at first, which could be fixed by merging buttons and adding contextual behaviour to others (e.g. walking, turning and pushing could all just be the arrow keys in the relevant contexts).

Overall though, I think you delivered a pretty well-rounded game with a satisfying amount of content and polish. Definitely a strong entry, so thanks again!

neowedge 2023-10-09 11:14

It took me a while to understand that to complete the level you had to get out of the elevator. Once I knew how to play, I found it very fun. The levels are very well designed and the graphics and audio accompany them very well. Great entry!

cassowary 2023-10-15 16:15

Really interesting concept and clever level design. I like the audio too. I wish there was either an undo button or that restarting was quicker as right now if you make one wrong move (easy to do when there's a turn limit!) you have to press R, wait for the animation to play, then use the mouse to click the button -- at least allowing a keyboard key to restart would really help a lot I think. Overall the design here is strong though!

kuggenhoffen 2023-10-16 20:05

What can I say, the game looks and sounds amazing and plays well too. The action controls felt a bit cumbersome and a restart or reset button would have been nice. Impressive work, good job!

scarytreegames 2023-10-17 16:03

It took me a while to figure out how to play, but then I enjoyed this game. Great art and concept!

hinamarina 2023-10-17 21:00

I really loved the art and the overall vibe! The music is pretty funny and all the elements of the UI are really well done! Quite impressive for a game jam! I love the concept of the sokoban mechanic in this theme, a really curious take! I missed a little the option to use an "undo" button, like in baba is you, since I made a ton of mistakes by confusing the buttons even though i had found the solution to the puzzle. Yet i found it to be a quite polished and really fun experience! Well done, really nice work! :)

i-cam 2023-10-19 14:37

@phoenixstroh Thanks! I really tried to make the music change get that "flashbang" effect with the muted and detuned audio, glad you enjoyed it!

ginxel 2023-10-20 22:07

love everything about this game, the art, music, concept! Congratulations!
