Mechanical Mutiny by simex 2023-10-07T22:14:28Z

You nailed the graphics, they're really cool and feel original! Unfortunately, I had the game soft-lock a couple times, where I had ended one of my turns and it just got stuck on that same robot with no options to do anything and enemies not taking any turn either. I liked the idea of salvaging parts to upgrade your stats, but getting to those first piles is pretty slow. If you update this further, consider bringing them within immediate reach of the player so they can get through the first section in two turns. That would keep the excitement high for what's beyond the first door, and teach the inventory system a lot sooner than it is being taught now. The robot voices are an awesome touch, brings things to life really well! I would have loved more SFX for other actions/events like opening the scrap pile and adding parts to your inventory. Good job, keep it up!

Claustrophobia by barret907k 2023-10-07T01:43:44Z

This game has visual mood for days! Some eerie soundscapes would've added a ton, but I imagine a lot of work and time went in to what's already here, so I can understand you not being able to finish the vision in time. You made a cool environment, and I love the opening bit where the walls are taking up most of the screen. Nailed the claustrophobia there, for sure.

Shark Barrage 2: Farming to Freedom Edition by borjan1peovski 2023-10-05T17:04:48Z

I love that you turned the veggies into little characters with faces! Reminded me of Deku Scrubs from the N64 Zelda games. The concept is definitely interesting and a bit of a laugh (who doesn't want *Sharknado 7: Land Shark*), but I had the same trouble as most people in terms of figuring out what my options were and how to progress. However, once I reread the game page and saw you could kill sharks by clicking (albeit furiously), the objective started to make more sense. Still, I wasn't sure if I was meant to keep sharks away from the farm or somehow trick them into only eating rotten veggies. The lack of looping music was really distracting, but I'm sure that's an easy fix for Shark Barrage 3!

Metagirls by MetaGen 2023-10-07T01:52:03Z

One of the more clever takes on the theme I've seen so far, nice work coming up with that! It seemed like the first character is a little more balanced with the enemy spawn rate and firing. Took me a while to realize the pink circle was my immunity, and both shooting and shielding felt much more dangerous and difficult with the second character. I think the experience would have benefitted with a more gradual increase to enemy amount, I would have played longer for sure. The game over sound effect was pretty harsh on the ears, so my advice is to test your game on a speakers and headphones at multiple volumes when time allows! All in all, good job getting a completed entry up and running.

The Vaculizer by ThorPalsson 2023-10-19T23:51:02Z

Probably the space-centric game I enjoyed the most out of what I've played! The atmosphere and mood are incredible thanks to the environment art and music. I found myself constantly holding shift for any movement, so perhaps next update or if you make a similar game, make sure any boost keys are actually making an impact and don't become a crutch. I did like that you made an effort to make realistic space movement, but at some point, you gotta make some compromises when it comes to balancing realism with fun! I really wanted to upgrade the Vaculizer, but the red suns seemed to be extremely rare and spawn in few and far between intervals. It also took extremely long for me to get the Vaculizer to begin with, so I'd consider moving the minimum required materials much closer to the player so they can have an efficient way to progress further. Cool game with out-of-this-world potential!

Small Plot Agriculture by SimonLarsen 2023-10-07T01:35:36Z

The art is incredible! One part that frustrated me pretty quickly was the instant destruction of a crop once a crow hits it - a tiny bit of grace with that would've felt much better. I couldn't get harvesting to work either (I only worked with carrots), though maybe I was doing something wrong. I assume that's how you gain more money. Good choice of music, fits really well. I might try to play again to really get into it more and I'll update this and my rating if I can!

Space: 10000km by TinySalad 2023-10-11T02:23:26Z

The cutscenes and characters are awesome, nice work on those! I can't imagine how long that kind of thing takes having never made a cutscene, let alone a 3D game. While the captain melting is a laugh, it interrupting the gameplay is not my favorite. If it played in the corner of the screen while the player continues to try and save the ship, that would be super cool. I thought I had it figured out by swapping the to-do around for the cat mechanic, but each way I tried to arrange things still ended in death. Still, cool experience and definitely funny! Good job.

Extinction Extraction by tetrapteryx 2023-10-19T16:23:42Z

I absolutely LOVED this game. Art was on point, music had my head bobbin', and the concept and theme implementation were tops! What it lacks in polish, it makes up for in style and fun puzzles. Couldn't let any dinos go extinct! It's a great little jam game that can honestly stand on its own without the need for expansion or improvement beyond some extra juice. Well done!

This Bed Ain't Big Enough For the Both of Us by Japayne 2023-10-19T15:58:06Z

Cool jam game! Love the theme usage and the topic - hits home for me pretty hard haha. I thought it was rhythm based for a second, but I actually enjoyed that it wasn't after all. Clever to force the player to pop the dreams in the right places. It definitely gets tough when you get 2 or 3 coming into the slots at the same time - probably would be even harder on mobile, but using the keyboard seemed to be the best method for that situation. Audio is well-balanced and the art is great. Good job!

Auto Crabler by Lenan 2023-10-07T03:31:54Z

Crab design is great and I like the art style of it! Music is good, though it's not super cohesive with the minimal SFX. I couldn't figure out how to use the potion unfortunately, and I was hoping to get that weapon upgrade you mentioned by having three shuriken in the inventory. Maybe it was upgraded and there was no indication? Either way, it's a cool idea that I could see being more fun and engaging with some more work.

One Escape From Franky's by AploveStudio 2023-10-11T02:51:37Z

I wanted SO BADLY to figure this game out (or even part of it). I tried like, 6 different times over the last week to make some progress of any kind, but I'm absolutely stumped! It's puzzly as hell, which kept me coming back, while the terrors within push me away. Maybe after some time I'll try again. It would be cool to see how you approach this kind of game outside of a jam with some extra playtesting to help fine-tune the puzzles! Incredible artwork and nice audio skills. This definitely belongs in the Aplovvare collection. Well done!

Crow Keeper by Matthew Bond 2023-10-07T21:46:09Z

The crow sprites are great, especially the menu and game over screens! Felt like it was laughing at me for losing haha. I wished there was a way to destroy a shrine once built, since I made a mistake on one and it sort of killed the playthrough. SFX were needed to make this game feel more complete, but at least you got some music in there! Very graveyard/Halloween flavor which was quite fitting. The different sizes/resolutions of the enemies were a little distracting. Keeping those things consistent next time will definitely get you some more props in the graphics department. Well done!

TombStone by Edinaldo 2023-10-08T03:27:13Z

Gotta love the effort put into the character model and animations! Pretty quality stuff there. It's really tough and needs a bit of work on collisions and movement, but it's a great start of a cool platforming explorer game. Keep up the good work and you'll have something that rivals Tomb Raider in no time.

Mechanizyn by Lincolnsalles 2023-10-11T01:54:30Z

This game's just abuzz with feedback, I love it! Congrats on your first entry in the jam category! Your Itch page is decked out, and I like that you included the concept art - planning games is super important and it seems you know that already. The fly sprite is super detailed, well done on making it realistic enough to make my skin crawl while also having things stay readable. I hesitated at the start for a bit because I couldn't see the fly before noticing it was behind the dark tube on the left. Consider adding an outline or lightening that tube so the fly stands out more. Good concept and good job getting something done and uploaded on time!

SlimeTastic! by Alpha Wolf Studios 2023-10-07T04:03:25Z

Incredible art, for sure! The cover image and the 3D elements are great. I had a hard time figuring out the conditions of winning and losing, and couldn't discover why slimes could only be merged once. It seemed like I should have been able to merge the second stages as well, since that would have made a lot more room on the grid for more elements. Some feedback for player actions would go a long way communicating what you can and can't do, and I think this could be added in a future update and make the game much more enjoyable. Music is suited well for the gameplay, nice and calm! Good job.

Make Room by spooncats 2023-10-11T01:36:22Z

Most fun and most challenge I've faced in the jam entries so far!! Great minimalistic game with some minor rough edges that kept me from completing it. I got real stuck on level 6 and couldn't keep going out of frustration. I swear I had the whole thing in several times, and the countdown wouldn't start... until I clicked outside of the box, and then the countdown started at the same time my shape sprung one of its edges out! What a fun concept and take on the theme - this feels like a top 10 contender for sure. Audio was great, the randomized faces were awesome, and while the controls felt difficult at times, they added to the humor and made some in-world sense with how squishy these fellas are. Amazing work!

Cozy World by AntonioTheReis 2023-10-07T22:23:37Z

It is indeed cozy! I enjoyed the music, and I wish it evolved to the later part with more instruments sooner! Most of the seed options weren't working for me, so I just used the random box and that was a cool choice to have. It's interesting that plants grow and die endlessly, but maybe that's unintentional? I couldn't get any new bugs from the jar - they kept falling right down on to the seed bar for some reason. It's a relaxing time nonetheless and I'd like to see a new version of this someday.

GOD DOES NOT PLAY DICE by Yuio 2023-10-11T01:48:29Z

oh no

Best UI element to ever exist. Pretty fun game, though some more balancing would have done the idea some more justice. For example, a few times I got dealt four identical cards in a row - sometimes that was great (4 animal attacks cleans house in the best way), but most of the time it was a curse. Perhaps this is intended design, but personally I think the gameplay could feel better and last longer if this kind of situation was prevented through code or with the addition of a "swap entire hand" option. The music was jamming, albeit a little unfitting for a game that felt like a semi-apocalyptic god sim. Nice job team!

Le Monde de Cortex by Xaneos 2023-10-05T17:39:50Z

^ I got stuck here in permanent falling about 3/4 through my play, unfortunately.

Good job on a fairly polished 3D platformer, must have been a lot of work! I would've loved to not have to install a C++ dependency and reboot my computer before being able to play, but I went through that hassle anyway because I was curious enough to try this one out. The art style is pretty cool, everything in the environment feels pretty cohesive except for the mushroom house and the piano. If there were mushrooms around the planet, it would have been a touch more immersive and made sense why it could be there. I was really bummed that the piano didn't seem to function properly, because I thought it was a great little puzzle. I'd also recommend not putting something with a door within reach if the player can't interact with it, but I understand the desire to add more scenery and decoration to an already somewhat-barren planet. The compounding music loops (which I know you're already aware of) became increasingly distracting and took a lot of fun out of the experience, not to mention making the music puzzle nearly impossible as time went on. Still, there's a bucket of love poured into this so I encourage you to keep that up whether you update this game or move on to the next one.

Box of Squingus by leckert 2023-10-07T22:42:30Z

Such a cool mechanic! Such puzzling platforming potential! Seriously, I love this concept and want more of it. Having the bottom of the box be a death sentence is clever. I was fumbling a ton having space for adjusting the box and shift for running. I think if those were swapped, this could be even more comfortable to play and master. Dying for music and SFX, but still, such a great job on everything else. The victory dance is lovely. Great work!

Six Floors Under by maxededo 2023-10-07T02:45:40Z

Like others, I had trouble with figuring out why I kept losing! I was playing the web version. I found someone mentioning that you had to make it out of the elevator within the moves allowed as well, so I gave it another shot and played through it all! Pretty engaging and fun concept. I love how it almost feels like a typing game at some points, because the wrong keypress can kill a level for you. Sometimes I had wished that there was a one or two move buffer for mistakes and allow for alternate solutions. Moving suitcases would have added some interest too. Regardless, the art and music are great, the game is fun once you understand it, theme usage is very good. Well done!

Mosh Pint by Dan Miller 2023-10-07T03:54:27Z

Amazing execution on theme! I love this concept. Unfortunately, I got stuck on level 3 - seemed like there was some invisible force on either side of the crowd pushing me into the moshers relentlessly. It was otherwise really fun to balance quick movement and stabilization while avoid as many people as possible. I'd love to see this concept expanded to include other food and drinks to other types of showgoers, or maybe even at different entertainment venues. Great job!

Space Bar ☆ Porter q(≧▽≦q) by Kuchinashi 2023-10-07T03:21:38Z

Bro, the plot and characters are genuinely fun to experience. The cover art is amazing and the pixel art is pretty good too! The gameplay mechanics are certainly tired, but the specific areas you can perform them in is a nice twist! I enjoyed the plot and the fact that you were able to resist making Jumpo a horrible caricature of the real nightmare. Great job!

lungage by mindhijacker 2023-10-07T21:27:22Z

I wasn't entirely sure what the purpose of being able to drop stones was, since that's your ammo and seems like a bad idea to drain that without attempting a shot! SFX would have made the game much more enjoyable, but I'm sure you will nail that with your next game. I was able to survive for a few rounds! Congrats on your first LD!

KeyBound by AgrMayank 2023-10-11T02:13:27Z

I really enjoyed the concept and initial execution with how you gather your own movement keys, that's so cool! Like some others though, I had some difficulty with the traps and couldn't bring myself to keep trying after the third death in the same confusing spot (right after you pass the Shift key; I died quite suddenly trying to get that too). I think if the trap sprites were in the same resolution as the rest of the game, it would be much easier to see where they're at and find a safe way through. Music is great, though some SFX are little too loud (key collection). The art is great too! Overall, it's a good idea that needs some improvement to feel more accessible and fun. Keep it up!

VoidChamber by Volnick 2023-10-07T22:34:54Z

Like others, I found that being able to hold Q to constantly bring the artifact to you made the main mechanic pretty moot. Still, it's a great idea and I'd like to see a new version with some sort of change that forces the player to use that and the throwing mechanic properly! Music was great, I just wish there were some SFX for player actions. Keep making games!

Cat Games by alzhu1 2023-10-07T01:20:25Z

Honestly, pretty nice save on an unfortunate set of circumstances you found yourself in! It's complete, and that says a lot about your determination. Good job getting it done and playable!

Trash.exe by Natano 2023-10-08T03:13:03Z

I had some fun with this one once I got into the fights! The idea is great and I was hoping to find some jammers who took this interpretation of the theme, cause I couldn't really come up with something that used it in this way before settling on my concept. I'm glad you're planning to make the entry to the boss fights more clear; that'll be a huge improvement in the accessibility department. I found the controls to be decent, but I did have trouble with the response time of the movement - lots of times I was trying to go a certain direction and it just didn't happen until the second keypress. It's definitely a big spike in difficulty when you need to approach the boss for deletion, perhaps asking too much of the player. I would suggest changing this to a mouse click, since that's already part of the controls and would be a relief after spending some time dodging projectiles. In addition, I think it's worth considering upping the player health to 5 or having it recharge after a certain number of successful dodges. The music is pretty good, but I was missing it in the OS part of the game (maybe a bug?). Unfortunately, the SFX used for the deletion is painfully loud. I wish you luck on the improvements for the game, it's a great start!

Celestial Retaliation by Digol 2023-10-07T21:56:20Z

WOW those clouds are gorgeous! The rest of the sprites are great too, but the clouds are distractingly beautiful. The hitboxes on them are a little unforgiving - I was so confused on many deaths, eventually realizing I had clipped the very tiniest edge of one of them. Some grace on that would have kept me playing a bit longer! I found it somewhat difficult to kill enemies without either taking shots from them or ramming into them, mainly due to their near-constant firing. If there was a more discernable pattern to their shooting, especially with the first 20 or so enemies, the game would be much more accessible and fun. Clicking/hitting space repeatedly can be tiring on the fingers, so consider making a hold-to-fire option in the next update or next shooter you make if it's going to be as fast-paced as this one. Music seemed like it didn't fit the setting too well; I wanted some high-energy bangers going for my space shooting adventure! Good work for your first game!

SokoSnake by imontheweb 2023-10-19T16:16:00Z

Damn, this was such a cool experience! I wanted sound and music SO badly, but the gameplay really makes up for that absence. I think an undo button would drastically improve the fun factor, since in many cases you can get locked into place with your own body within a few moves. Still, this isn't a huge detractor. It did take me a bit to discover that your body is counted as covering the stone tiles, so I spent a few tries trying to get the blocks to fit perfectly into the spaces (and was confused when I suddenly won the first level). I would love to make music and sound for this game if you plan to work on it more! Reach out to me on Discord @.cardboardmoon if you're interested.

Crumble Cave by SpacemanStan 2023-10-07T03:02:54Z

It's got charm and a nice bit of atmosphere, I especially like the rock and lava textures. I couldn't tell if the ground was supposed to be falling away at some point (it seemed like there wasn't any crumbling going on), but the risk of death by lava pit is real! I ended up collecting enough gems to overflow on the edges of the screen before letting this one go. It would've been cool to be able to run around without constantly jumping, but I'm sure you're going to avoid this problem in the next one. Good job.

Caged by light153709 2023-10-11T02:40:18Z

This is incredible! Love the application of the theme and the cage art really sold the experience. I liked how so many times I thought I was a goner when my cage took just one more hit - it adds a lot of tension! I think the difficulty curve is pretty great honestly, but what I found unusually hard was the aiming and firing of the gun. It took me a while to realize that I could only aim and shoot on the side that I was facing. One big improvement would be to allow the player to aim the opposite way they're facing and turn them around at the same time. I understand this may be intentional design, and while it is definitely adding to the challenge, it starts to feel like an unnecessary hurdle. I wish I could have made it to the end! The artwork across the board is just amazing. The music seemed a bit out of place for the tone - I was expecting a dark and dangerous soundtrack to the threat of death by sea monsters! Still, it's a fine choice and it didn't detract from the experience much at all. Great job team!

Sky's the Limit by clema 2023-10-07T21:37:34Z

The sprites are pretty great, and I loved the part where the angel suggests that you "get thick enough". I don't know why I didn't notice the countdown at the top for the sky falling, but I think the game could've been juicier and more challenging if you skipped the counter altogether and just made every move drop one row of clouds behind you. That might necessitate different level design though, so if you work on this game more, consider it! The audio was unfortunately crackling for me consistently, usually when moving the player, so this took away from the experience. The boss at the end was a nice twist! Good job.
