What a Xayah simulator!!
Hey this is really good! I especially loved the enemy variety and how new enemy types were introduced slowly as the difficulty ramped up, and I loved how the difficulty curve matched my power curve quite well, so great design! I wanted the crow to feel a little more maneuverable, and I didn't really feel like I had issues with space. I was confused as to what I was losing when the enemies were attacking my buildings, but it helped to take some heat off of me, if nothing else. Fun to play, thanks!
You can play this game stacking ranged shrines, or you can play it wrong, the choice is yours.
(How can I say no to a game where you play as a crow?)
Wow, the ghosts with the ranged attacks are no joke! I thought I was doing pretty good and then they absolutely destroyed me lol. I'm curious what the correct strategy is to handle them. Hiding behind your shrines?
I had a lot of fun playing this game tho! Fun little game loop, just needs some difficulty adjusting or maybe I need to get better haha.
Great game and idea, I made it through the normal levels. Good music and graphics. * Camera movement is a bit delayed, it makes you sometimes miss when placing shrine. * Movement is a bit slow. * Crow and feathers colide with shrines so it makes moving/shooting harder. * The shinies and feathers could be automatically collected after completing night, so you wouldn`t need to go around whole map.
enjoyable, maybe needs more instruction. the tutorials should be a bit longer, missed some stuff that was apparently important
Music gets a bit grating after 10 or so waves maybe a couple more stanzas or a mute button. All of the elite enemies on wave 11 are bugged and the hit boxes are not where the enemies are portrayed. other than that great game. When sex update?
@jobecr We very much had the classic issue of "the devs become too comfortable with the game and it becomes really hard to tell what's laughably easy vs appropriately easy for the difficulty curve"
@zeit That name may or may not have come up a handful of times in our early design discussions after settling on a crow protagonist :p
@jason-shapiro The buildings lose hp! It can be hard to notice in the early waves, especially if you're not using tab to check their health between waves, but in later waves it's very easy to lose multiple shrines a wave if you don't clear enemies fast enough. (and less buildings = less stats)
@chusmimax this a completely accurate and factual assessment of balance atm >.>
@pro4 The ghosts are actually there to encourage the opposite! You have to go hunt them down or they'll take out your shrines from afar.
@pawel12 Thank you so much for all the feedback! I slowed the camera down a little bit shortly before putting up our upload, and it felt fine on my local Unity editor build but I agree that it feels ungodly slow in the game for some reason :( Definitely a very easy fix if we end up uploading a patch! We also had a lot of discussion on just exactly how slow the crow should be when not flying (the intent is that most of the time if you want to move, you're flying), and I think there are definitely some major tweaks I would want to make to base movement speed and gliding movement speed moving forward (and also subsequently probably the size of the play area?)
@pseudonym404 @billy-s <3
Ty so much to everyone for playing and leaving feedback, it means a lot!
Very beautiful animation of a bird! Cool! I liked the art! And like a bird killing zombies! hahaha))
crow :)
Great job on this, it's a very fleshed out game and works really well! Really impressive.
The crow sprites are great, especially the menu and game over screens! Felt like it was laughing at me for losing haha. I wished there was a way to destroy a shrine once built, since I made a mistake on one and it sort of killed the playthrough. SFX were needed to make this game feel more complete, but at least you got some music in there! Very graveyard/Halloween flavor which was quite fitting. The different sizes/resolutions of the enemies were a little distracting. Keeping those things consistent next time will definitely get you some more props in the graphics department. Well done!
Great entry! Loved the visuals, especially for the crow! A few thoughts: - Movement was a little to slow for me. I also felt like starting/stopping should have been a bit faster. - The movement mechanics to get in/outside of the graveyard confused me at first - The background music does start to wear me down after a while. - The difficulty spike was surprising!
I like your crow and your pixel art of the start and end screen especially.
The mechanics are interesting, maybe a faster movement can be more dynamic and with better feeling on the controls.
The difficulty is difficult at the beginning, maybe init the level with a small tutorial can be better in this case, but I can understand the complexity of doing it in the short development time available in a jam so obviously this kind of things are not usually taken into account in a jam, Having finished the game is quite a feat!
In short, the game looks nice, it's good and the faults that can be found are clearly due to the fact that it's in jam format, not so much for the game itself.
Well done! Take a candy! :candy:
This was pretty unique. My one complaint was the movement felt pretty clunky; otherwise, I felt like it was pretty well-balanced, and I liked the graphics, although some of the sprites felt a little out of place.
I found the game incredibly captivating. The concept is truly impressive. Keep up the excellent work, and you'll undoubtedly reach a high level of professionalism
