LD46 — Keep it alive

Save Satan by SimonTheCase 2020-04-21T12:00:24Z

As others have said, I struggled a bit in the beginning to understand how to play, but I think it's just because the game doesn't communicate that well. When I died and the screen just froze for like 2 sec and the tutorial text move around, so I thought that I was still in the tutorial, not that I was getting my ass handed to me.

Project Kepler by LucaVazz 2020-04-21T12:12:39Z

“A way too complicated space ship management game” that about sums up my experience haha. but it would be nice if you added some tutorial text to the description, since you said that it's about 70% feature complete I have no idea if what I'm pressing actually does anything

Pollice Verso by JHax 2020-04-21T13:17:12Z

I almost didn't play the game since I didn't realize you had to use the keyboard to navigate, so I was clicking the start button like an idiot, thought the game was just broken. anyways, this was a really cool twist on the theme I love the idea that you just have to make the fight interesting, but not actually kill the opponent. It'd be nice to get some feedback/tutorialization for the 'prepare for fight' screen, since I didn't really understand how it worked, but I made a lot of money so I guess I did something right!

I really liked this, but if you checkout our submission you might find that I'm a little biased for gladiator themed games, ahah.

ALPHA PAPA ECHO by jamesterjim 2020-04-26T10:20:02Z

holy heck I should never become a pilot, haha. This is a really solid submission, fantastic work!

Bestseller by Roboimuri 2020-04-26T10:04:43Z

This one gave me a good chuckle, I really enjoyed the sound effected as they put my in the right mood when I was frantically pressing left/right trying too keep him alive. The only thing I would have liked to see was some sort of indication of how fast the dial was moving to the left or right.

Hack'n Dice by Fluffy_Kaeloky 2020-04-21T11:26:09Z

The graphics and sound design for this was really good considering the time limit, I also love the 'paper mario' 2.5D perspective. I will say that maybe you could have added a tutorial screen or something in-between the exposition and game play scenes. but that's a minor note since the overall design as so intuitive and responsive I figured out how to play relatively quick.

Overall great job guys, I'm impressed.

EsfandTV : In Defense of His Purity by Krapht 2020-04-21T12:28:20Z

I don't know this stream so I guess I don't really get any of the jokes, but it's overall a smooth experience, and I'm quite impressed that you got the fmv stuff to feel this good.

Looking for Group by pandepic 2020-04-21T12:35:56Z

I really enjoyed this, it's really hit the mood of some light-hearted adventuring fun! It's was a bit hard to understand that I had to click the characters to cast my spells (I know the tutorial tried to tell me) but since there was to feed back and I didn't get at first that I was playing as the cleric I just saw that stuff was happening, so I thought I just had to hover over the character I wanted to cast on.

Marx's Graffiti Squad by Rongefilet 2020-04-26T09:53:22Z

I LOVE the interpretation of the theme, unfortunately I think the Balanced Win build has some sort of bug, the games runs at like 3fps, unless I hold space to bring up the map, then it runs at normal speed, but it's really hard to tell where I'm going since I'm suddenly speeding around and the map covers most of my view. Anyways I'll still rate it as if that wasn't an issue, I still thought the main loop was fun and the graphics are quite nice, it's a shame you didn't have time for sound as I think that would have really sold the mood! good job guys!!

Checkmate by CharlieMrl 2020-04-21T11:52:57Z

oooooh wow, this was really good. I'm super impressed that you managed to get all this done in 72 hours! As an amateur chess fan I realize that I'm a bit biased here but I would have loved for the 'chess' aspect to be more integrated in the game-play/level design, like instead of something like a knife as a secondary weapon you could kill opposing pawns 'an passant' or something.

I was also kind of expecting the black queen to be waiting for me fully decked out with a machine gun and a pawn army ready to f my shit up. so I was a little disappointed.

As a minor note, I almost just dropped the game at the start because I didn't realize that you could move the king! that's on me to some extent but maybe really make sure you tutorialize the player so that idiots like me get it :)

but this was fantastic, good job guys!

Doctor Lit by Animaster 2020-04-21T12:19:14Z

I'm actually really upset that you didn't have time to add all the features you wanted, since I really enjoyed what is here, and I've love to 'get in to it' so to speak. anyway, good job man!

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

The Denevetable by Tricky_Fat_Cat 2022-04-06T12:40:02Z

dude the design on this is spot on! even without a proper tutorial I was able to figure out how to play on my first try. I'm still not sure what the green gems do, also on like my 3rd 'loop' the game stopped spawning enemies for 1 min or so. And not for nothing, but check out this score!

scoreboard.png

this was really fun, good job guys!

Solar Death by simex 2022-04-05T08:25:57Z

@arathedev @mdx Thank you so much.

@noiyy Yeah, I added the tutorial within the last hour of the jam. So it’s a bit rushed.

@zombiebust3r Whelp, didn’t notice that they were misaligned.. well it’s kind of on purpose since the scoreboard is supposed to be displayed at the title screen, but it was bugged.

I was so tired yesterday that I switched up ‘opt-out’ with ‘opt-in’ for the categories. :sleepy: Graphics & mood should be in, and humor & audio should be out. hope it's fixed now

Forest by StudioCherno 2022-04-05T14:50:18Z

yooo, this was really cool and super impressive considering that it is running on a custom engine! I don’t actually have much to say because I think the core game is really solid, the only stuff I’d like to see is some better tutorialization, some settings (mouse sensitivity was a bit high for me), the door collision was a bit rough, etc, etc… but as you can tell from that list, that’s just polish stuff that’s totally excusable in a game jam. When that’s the only thing that irked me you know you did a really good job!

Chronolapse by NeitherNathan 2022-04-06T11:09:26Z

Love the mood and art style, unfortunately I had a few issues. the UI does not play nice with my ultra-wide so I couldn't see/read any of the UI messages, which made it quite hard to figure out what to do  also for some reason the game tried to launch in steam VR. but none of this ruined the experience for me, just made the start a bit rough. fantastic job!

Escape Grades by naplz 2022-04-08T19:10:46Z

hahah, this is the first entry that actually made me laugh out loud, good job! the meme level when at the end is off the charts. might this be based on some irl experience from someone on the team? anyways for some quick feed back the UI does not work properly on my ultra-wide (not that is matters for me), other than that you did a really good job! thanks for the game.

Swords & Feelings by salyon 2022-04-06T12:15:32Z

Fantastic game! I love the theme interpretation, I've had this tab open for 4 days, just so I could see what you ended up with: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/50/swords-feelings/maybe-if-i-delay-the-inevitable-sleep-i-can-finish-this

And I was not disappointed, you did a really good job.

Dance with Death by Hengen 2022-04-05T07:23:51Z

Rhythm games like DDR are usually not my forte, but this was exceptional. Banging soundtrack and an awesome amount of juice (loved the fireworks etc.) that you get when you progress!

Ludum Distractio by PhilStrahl 2022-04-05T07:36:53Z

This was a fantastic entry, loved the level of detail and all the small programmer jokes. The WebGl version is a little bugged (can't scroll with the mouse wheel, UI is not scaled correctly so you can't see the progress bar for all elements)

jokes.png

This one made me chuckle, good job. I only get a score of 70, but I think I'll come back to this game and try to improve it!

Settlers & Prophecies by Chocolat-Endive 2022-04-06T12:02:47Z

Wonderful game, I'm super impressed that you managed to make all of this during the jam. if I wasn't following your blogposts I almost wouldn't believe it!

THE BEARD by danvil 2022-04-06T12:24:37Z

This is an amazing concept! and it's soooo satisfying to play, look at this lady killer right here :D beard.png

You shall not pass by Senso 2022-04-08T19:02:46Z

DUUUDE this was fantastic! tbh I wasn't expecting much from the thumbnail but this is easily one of the top games I've played so far. I don't know if it's true or not, but I could feel the fun and joy you had making this and the game just oozed personality. thank you for such a wonderful experience. this is what LD is all about.

Dungeon Architect by kazuo256 2022-04-12T11:43:59Z

This game has such a unique premise, and the take on the theme is so cool. I really enjoyed playing it, the only gripe I had was that is was a bit hard to understand what path the adventures where going to take throughout my dungeon! but other than that I'd say you guys did a fantastic job here.

LD39 — Running out of Power

Mad Maxi Taxi by Thirsty 2017-08-01T14:11:39Z

I had quite a hard time figuring out the objective, played for about 5min before I realized that you had to pickup the little dudes, the game is a little rough around the edges I think that if you where to make the game again you should focus on making the driving feel really good, and add some juice if you have the spare time (like wheel tracks and dust particles)

System.reLight by Reggnos 2017-08-01T17:05:55Z

This was a pretty enjoyable play, but I would have loved to have had some music in there! Also, a round tracker would have been a good addition, I think! Kind of hard to try to beat your last score if you don't know what it is! I really liked the mechanic of alternating between firing and using melee, made the combat a bit more interesting and forced you to switch it up a bit. The mood was good, it alternates quite well between a bit somber and eerie, and quite exciting when you're down to your last 10% power and the lights are dimming and you're surrounded. Overall it was quite fun! I'm sure it would have been even better with some more polish! Well done guys!

Socket Punch! by simex 2017-08-02T14:16:06Z

Thank you to everyone who has commented and rated, it really means a lot to us!

@pavelsovushkin I'm so sorry if this has caused issues for you or anyone else, I haven't been able to reproduce the bug but I've upload a new version that should force you up the elevator, so hopefully this works (without creating new bugs)

Silicon Boulevard - A RoboNoire by ttocs167 2017-08-01T16:38:10Z

Great little game, I might have a bit of a bias since I made a noir game for ld36, the game is a bit rough with menus and thing not fitting my resolution but overall I had a good time!

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

One Monorail by Arqcenick 2020-10-06T15:31:42Z

why are upgrades not included! haha, had some fun with this, but some more mechanics would really help the longevity of the game. good job!

Loopita's Dream by vetu11 2020-10-05T22:28:53Z

This was short and sweet, and for me it hit all the high points it was going for. fantastic job!

Co-Routine by MatchaFlavor 2020-10-06T00:54:32Z

This was a really fun puzzle game. the only real feedback I have is that it's really titling that I have to wait for a platform i finish moving before I switch at a node. also it might just be me but I really wanted the arrow that shows the switch directions to be the other way around since it keep tripping me up. I really love the interpretation om the there, really creative!

Ghost Cubed by Patrick1 2020-10-05T23:28:02Z

I loved this, but too much of a brainlet to even finish the second level :(

NeonLoop by aDaxxas 2020-10-05T23:18:01Z

DUDE this brings me back to playing audio surf. was a really good game, could have used some more music but other than that I had a blast!

Loopy Orbits by Ziamor 2020-10-06T01:41:57Z

this is the type of simple browser game I just love, if I were to give any feed back it's to make it a bit more intuitive how the planets affects the orbit (you know just simple, explain orbital dynamics in a way even a simpleton like me can understand! :D) lovely little game great job!

Suicidal Boyfriend by Federico Giorgi 2020-10-06T00:11:43Z

This was a really daring submission, but overall I really liked it. it took me quite some time to understand what was happening (maybe by design?) but I can see that a lot of work went in to this. good job

S P A C E D O U T by LanaLux 2020-10-07T02:49:30Z

if only I could also live with just a bath and work, haha. fantastic entry and an impressive amount of assets for a compo game. I ended up playing it for almost 40min just.. stuck in a loop. Would have been nice to have some more varied music, and the balancing could use some work. my first play-through I ended up a debt slave and just restated the game, second time around I found that one day of like 8 baths and 1 reactor repair gave me 2 full days of work so I could in to this 3 day cycle. anyways really good work!

Shape of Life by myr 2020-10-07T00:49:02Z

maybe I'm just an idiot but I tried for 10 min to understand how to play the game, restarted the game 6 times since I couldn't figure out how to get back to being a baby without a hard reset, on one attempt I was able to spawn a white box that flew upwards as a skeleton by pressing alt-gr but I don't know how I did it and why it never worked on any repeating play troughs. I really wanted to like this one since the premise was intriguing and the art looks nice, I understand not having the time to make a tutorial but please add a readme or description of the controls on the submissions page. anything to just help a player get started. @me if you do and I'll come back and re-rate the game. thank you :D

Escape this testground! by chakaramba 2020-10-05T23:34:03Z

This is my type of game! but I don't know if it's a bug or a mechanic I just didn't understand, but the jumping was quite random and unresponsive for me something that made me tilted at times

Quit the Cycle by Oblivion Games 2020-10-06T01:30:38Z

I think there is an interesting little concept in here but I'm to stupid to figure out what to do, so I'm stuck at the IDE screen :(

Electronic Toy Racecar Championship by UncleGubbsy 2020-10-06T01:59:24Z

big oof on that download size, maybe make a web build if possible? I still had to download this to scratch that yakuza 0 pocket racing itch. the only feed back I can think of is to have some kind of indicator for how 'long' the turns are so I know by what time I need to slow down, and when I can speed up again.

Anomaly 47 by PhilStrahl 2020-10-06T00:40:18Z

DUDE this was fantastic, loved the mood and art, the only problem I have is that it needs to be longer since I want to play more! also are there multiple endings? or is it just the shuttle escape? since I could really go for more lore and investigative gameplay

GOTO START; by simex 2020-10-06T02:49:34Z

@nerdytopic yeah it's a programmer joke, I was a bit afraid the game would be a bit too meta. oh well :D thanks for checking it out

RevolveWare by Fatsheep 2020-10-06T22:24:24Z

HAHA Nice game, I got 40 before I got nuked by a meteor. loved the sound effect and the graphics hit home with me since I'm and old man by internet standards. The only feedback I have is stuff I'm sure you already know, mainly more games. it would also have been nice to have wasd support.

the adaptive sound/music was a really nice touch you don't see many people implement in a jam game so that really help give it that extra bit of polish. overall fantastic submission, good job!

Orbital Blast by pvg 2020-10-06T15:27:01Z

Fun little game, but I found the mouse controls to be broken in the sense that it made to game way to easy. all you have to do it hover the mouse over the enemy, wait for 2 shots to be fired then move to the next one and repeat. it will always hit and you will always make a full circle regardless of the number of enemies. but this is the type of time waster game I could spend hours on, the only thing it needs imho is a bit more challenge

Training Loop by DomNomNom 2020-10-06T14:19:33Z

haha nice, I love these kind of games even if I'm too stupid to really understand what's going on. I think your idea of maybe adding a 'debugger' window is a good idea. nicely done!

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Deeper Well by Feraligatr 2021-04-28T02:12:45Z

as @sharks said "I left the tab open in the background because I wanted to listen to the music more" music is really good, I'd love to see some mechanic that influences where you place you buildings so that there was more strategy in that area. like different building buffing/debuffing each other. it would also have been nice to have a map/ui mode that would make it super obvious what resources are consumed where so I knew what I should get rid off when I'm using too much water. Really cool interpretation of the theme.

An Unexpected Mishap in Naval Mine Cove by Bea 2021-04-28T01:54:54Z

This had some amazing sprite work, and it gave off that barotrauma feel. overall I really liked it, but it felt a bit punishing at times since the screen was so zoomed in I often didn't have time to move before the bomb hit me. I don't know if there is a run mechanic I missed? but I think it would help if the camera was zoomed out a bit, or shifted down, since you really don't need to see the top part of the ocean.

Good job guys!

Blue Abyss by Alpha Wolf Studios 2021-04-28T04:16:15Z

I think @100th-coin said it best, incredible work all across the board. the only nit pick I have is that I would have liked better in game tutorialization, and if that the worst criticism you can give to a game jam game that's saying something about the quality level.

Deepest Dwarf Dungeon by NinjaCatz 2021-04-28T19:32:12Z

I'm not sure if there is any new feedback I can give you, @alchemic point about the contrast between the spikes and the floor, apart from just general lack feeback when you shoot, get hit, get pickup etc, it's a really solid shmup. and I can't really call those points criticism on a game jam game since even if they are important, it's stuff that easy to add in a polish pass. and the core gameplay loop is really solid.

Abyssonaut by thomas-olsson 2021-04-27T15:13:37Z

DUUUUUDE, this game was sick! my favorite so far. i love the minimalist ui, and the sprite work is on point. Id be nice if there was a shop or trader half way down were one could spend the coins and gems on upgrades etc. to me that more interesting then just getting a higher score. it'd also be nice if we had some sort of ranged attack to deal with exploding the barrels. it's not a big deal, but I also soft locked my self the first go around as I removed all the stone from the blimp, but when I got to the top there was no way for me to go down again.

Deep Pocket Digs by ChrisAP 2021-04-28T00:24:34Z

I spend waaay to long on the first puzzle that teaches you use the ground momentum to jump. (I felt like that guy that could clear the tutorial in cup head)

I found the secret restart path, which I think was a mistake on my part because then I could just not try and get the rest of the coins, but the effort alone lost me everything I'd made up to that point. I can see that the game is a bit rough in some areas, and as the developers you probably know every little thing you'd like to change better than anyone. but I think the core concept is really solid and I love playing with the idea of digg based momentum. The only thing I'd liked to see more of are some interesting platform puzzles centred around the movement.

I don't know if you are gonna develop this any further, but to put it a bit blunt, I play mario for tight platforming, not to collect coins. and I could really see a unique movement mechanic like this be used to create some amazing platforming action.

Fantastic job, for me this is what LD is all about trying crazy stuff and learning along the way.

Divine Comedy by skoopidy 2021-04-27T21:53:26Z

I had a rough time understanding what I was supposed to do in the beginning, but other than that I had a really good time, I think this might be the most ambitious game I've played so far! the voice acting was really good and set to mood perfectly, I also think this was a really interesting take on the theme.

Adding the new wind mechanic at level 2 was really punishing tho, fuck me did I have to redo that maze a few dozen times, haha.

I found the mace upgrade, but after I entered the next area I got booted back to the title screen so I think I won? overall I think this is a good entry, I just think it's too bad that most people probably won't play it because of the download size. I think a 1GB download is a big ask for a game jam if possible maybe make a web build?

Mind Depths LD 48 by LittleGamer 2021-04-30T04:00:40Z

This might just be a problem on my end since no one else had mentioned it, but whenever I try to extract the game I get the classic "archive is either unknown or damaged" error. on both versions.

Paperload - Deep Bass Edition by frokes 2021-04-27T21:35:44Z

my man! motherload is one of my all time favorites, but the minding drone thing was really interesting and the mining shaft look really good. graphics in general looked really good (how did you even do that 3d/2d effect?) I don't mind at all that the game play is a lot like ML, since we don't have enough games in that style anyways. the only feedback notes I made was:

* op that upgrading fuel gives you a full tank, makes refueling useless. * shop options disabled, is it not in the game, or I'm I stupid?

other than that, the ending made me lol, but maybe you spend a bit too much time on it? that sound track could/should have been used in the main game imho. but overall fantastic job, hope to see you partake in the next ld.

Petal of a Dream (incomplete) by Axalalal 2021-04-28T02:22:20Z

"I’ve never coded a game before, so it was fun." Really cool to hear hope you had fun! I can confirm that the windows build works (I a few errors then the game launches anyways) I still think the game play itself fits the theme perfectly, I know you said you didn't finish a single level. now, I don't know if that means that you did finish making them or could finish them in game, because for me, it the latter because I suck at these types of games. good job, hope to see you in LD 49!

WhiteSnow by shumigrin 2021-04-27T14:36:07Z

hell yeah, the sprite work in this is really good. the only feedback I have is that it really got to me that the bullets didn't shoot where I was pointing the cursor (I think maybe the shadows lined up?) I dunno, I was just really unintuitive for me. overall this is one of those games at you should consider working on for another weekend or two, just to patch out all the place holder sprites!

The Language of Dreams by Joel Davis 2021-04-28T02:32:09Z

DUUUUDE, this needs to be a finished game, ever since I completed heavens vault I've been itching to play another game like it. ifaik you allowed by the rules to patch the debug-text bug. Even if the game was a bit confusing to start with I think this was a really cool idea, can't wait to see what you will make in the future. good job my man!

Ore Lord by dimlight 2021-04-27T13:57:42Z

I absolutely loved this, but I can shake the feeling that I was playing it wrong since no matter what I tried I could even get to the second minion tier, well that or I suck, which is probably what happened.

Aleph Qoph / Duat by ancient-pixel 2021-04-30T03:54:54Z

I don't know if mouse acc is on, or if performance was bad, but that combined with the visuals made me really motion sick. it's too bad since the game look interesting but I just can't do it.

now, since I can really play the game, I'm not gonna rate it (good or bad) since that feels unfair to me. just thought I'd let you know that this might be an issue for some people.

Deeper and Deeper by ishmandoo 2021-04-28T04:34:31Z

as others have said, I found this really difficult aha. the only thing I can think of is that it would be nice if there was a two player mode where one player used wasd the other the arrow keys so you could play together.

Juicy Trip by Anandhi 2021-04-28T01:59:00Z

This is a really nice little idle game, you should really consider doing a quick little polish pass then put this on mobile. it's exactly the type of game I want when waiting for the buss etc! nice use of the theme too

Micro Doc by Raffez 2021-04-27T14:41:17Z

I mostly agree with @awrgamedev but I'd also love to see more done with the setting, like maybe having organs that you can't hit, maybe even just a penalty for missing all together. it's not nice too shoot up the insides of you patient after all!

Bad Cultist by Selenephy 2021-04-27T14:18:59Z

haha this was good fun, but I'd like space to also be the restart button as I suck at the game and had to restart a LOT, and I think it would have improved the flow of the game if I didn't have to move my hand over to enter every time I died

The Good, the bad and the Eldritch by spawnie 2021-04-27T14:30:28Z

dude! adding mp to a jam game is really cool and ambitious. trust my I understand the time crunch, but I love to see more enemies/boss then just the one. good job!

Financial Depths by joh 2021-05-01T21:29:31Z

I never knew credit was the solution to all my money problems as I've never owned one. as other have said this was a really cool take in the theme. I made it to week 73 be for I just stopped as it didn't seems like the game was going to get much harder. I think it's fine as is, but I got so invested that I'd like some more end game content as it didn't seem like I could lose past a certain point.financial-depths.png

The Miracle Mineral by benjamin-l 2021-04-29T15:49:58Z

So! you probably don't need me to tell you how good this is... but I'm gonna do it anyways.

The good: * I'm so happy that you didn't abuse the fact that I turn the volume of really high so I could hear the voices, aka no loud jump scare. * The mood is fantastic, I just wish I played this in the evening so I would be extra creeped. * Voice acting was really good overall, I espechially liked how you were able to make all the characters sound unique, that really helped me understand who was taking. * lighting effects where superb!

The stuff that could be gooder: * It would be nice if the tapes where named/numbers so I knew if I found them all in order. * The timing between tapes could be better, so the ended before you found a new one. * I'd love some more atmospheric sounds, like water dripping, wind blowing etc. I must admit that I perused the game files and saw that you have some samples for stuff like that, but it's not implemented? since I couldn't hear anything. * I'd love to see some more stuff in the cave, like abandoned minecarts, pick axes etc. preferably stuff that helps the world building, like guy's gloves next to his lunch box.

Now, I got to the end and got my neck snapped, it that the actual end, or did I lose? Anyways, this was a fantastic atmospheric game, and with just a little bit more work, this is the stuff I'd pay money for. really solid job!

Guy Fall by IcarusDev 2021-04-27T14:23:51Z

nice little game, as feedback I like to maybe see some coins spawn that I could pickup for a score boots, as @rocketninjagames said I could also be a little big bigger.

Karawan by Rongo Matane 2021-10-07T18:06:08Z

holy hell. I thought I made a fairly polished product but while playing this I forgot I was playing a jam game for a good while! This was a fantastic experience and the best game I've play so far by a mile. you should be really proud of what you've made here, and if there is interest on your part I know for a fact that this game would perform really well as a full release. all I can really say is hats off to you, it was a pleasure to play.

Shpooky Pooky by Tyler Law 2021-10-05T16:20:33Z

this was an interesting little game, I think I might have cheating myself a bit of the experience, since if you rapidly press space you can make most item fly. don't know if that's a bug or a feature, but it made the game very easy. good job man!

QuAnTuM CaR by Vakareo 2021-10-05T16:14:18Z

hell yeah, this is why I love ld. I don't care if it's rough. I just enjoy playing unique games with interesting mechanic, and this game has that in spades!

Yarnball by niterich 2021-10-10T08:45:02Z

This was a lovely game that knew exactly what it wanted to and need to achieve! I've have loved to see some pacman like fruit I could get so that I could deal with those pesky cats! I could definitely see this working as a casual mobile game!

Un-Stabled by funemaker 2021-10-07T17:24:23Z

this was a really original take on the theme, and like many other have already said adding a decent quality VO really makes the game stand out from them crowd. Gameplay vise I found it to be incredibly fair, unlike a lot of physics games it always felt like it was my fault if/when I died. having to turn around was also and interesting mechanic that I wish had been explored further as it's quite unique and I would have loved to see what more you could have done with it!

Unstackable by Flazone 2021-10-10T08:59:11Z

I'm not gonna be so petty as to let this influence the score I give you, but some food for thought. I get a little irked when a LD game tried to beg me for money when I go to download it, I get it, you worked hard and made something of impressive quality, but so did a lot of people did. second a half a GB of download size is a big ask for a jam game, I don't know if that's something you can control in UE, or if the base 'cost' is just really high.

Other then that, there is not much to say. this is a really, really, polished and nice game. To the point that I think you could already publish this on a mobile platform and people wouldn't bat an eye! It gave my that zen like experience that Townscaper has, you should be really proud of this one, good job!

The Town of Clarity by IvanPavlov 2021-10-10T08:37:56Z

I LOVE this art style, and the bit of polish that was there was really well done (the crows flying away) I think the game does well at what it attempts to achieve so there isn't much to say. The few things that would have made this better for me is just more polish, like animations for the MC, some subtle tutorialization and some prompts/visual tell for what I can and can't interact with.

Radish Kid Ascension by CozyGamePals 2021-10-07T17:38:41Z

absolutely wonderful I haven't played a physics puzzle game like this since lemmings over 10 years ago. There really isn't much I can say, for something made during a jam this hit's all the spots. if there was a post jam version I'd love to see smoother experience in some areas as in the camera would follow the player sudo-automatically, the player had some less finicky pathing, and maybe an ingame tutorial. but really that fluff that does not need to be there at all. fantastic job!

Unstable Medicine by loveapplegames 2021-10-05T16:54:43Z

this was a lovely little package! I love the idea of introducing a new concept each level to keep things fresh. unfortunately I'm might be an idiot, or there is something wrong with my setup because I could seem to use any other ability, which made the game really hard!

Pale Moon Shone by ditam 2021-10-10T08:29:58Z

This was really nicely polish, and definitely the best atmosphere I've seen so far! The only thing I'd like to see was some clearer instruction on how to win, as my games instinct told me had I to hit the bottles and I would have given up it is wasn't for the fact that I read the comments. overall a solid entry!

@mrbamboo holy moley how did you manage to find this path?! Now I have to see if I can find a way to optimize it even more (I think I might be able to shave off a few steps after the final scan)

Piggy Go Bye Bye by Keenan Woodall 2022-10-03T18:34:10Z

Titan souls meets BotW lighting mechanics! This was fantastic, I've been wanting to see another good use of the throw/retract weapon mechanic from titan souls for a while. and this did not disappoint, combine that with nice a juicy visuals and you have a complete package! I'm sure that if you took the base ideas here and expanded on them in a full project you could make something truly amazing

BARRAGE by egawag 2022-10-05T03:04:23Z

this was a super polished experience, I just loved the pure impact you felt when the ion storm hit. this need to be remade in to some kind of mobile game, as I can definitely see myself turning this on to kill a few min. really good job!

QuickThink: Necromancer by Ganny 2022-10-06T05:28:26Z

now I feel insecure about my quick math skills  lovely entry, with a good amount of polish. good job boys, this could easily be ported for mobile, and with some luck become quite popular.

Storm Raider by spacecadet 2022-10-07T18:28:00Z

The music slapps! awesome choice, this was a fun little diversion to play while at work. might be a little rough around the edges, but the core concepts at display here are solid! some good game design at display here

Dark Points by anstabo 2022-10-06T05:24:05Z

well, I did not expect to play a full 20$ game for free during ludum dare. I also did not expect to shit my pants! fantastic job, this is the best game I've played so far by a country mile!

LD53 — Delivery

Galaxy Express by Jiri Hysek 2023-05-15T16:18:09Z

it took some time to get the hang of this (but I'm also really bad at video games ) but after the initial learning curve. this was a really enjoyable puzzle-ish game! I'm really bad at designing games like this, so I'm always left in awe when people are able to make engaging level like you've done here during the LD time crunch!

Pronto Velozza by StormSword 2023-05-15T17:07:29Z

At first I needed quite a bit of practice to get the hang of the controls , but once I did, I was the drift king baby! The gameplay is engaging, and the drifting mechanics adds a juicy effect that enhances the driving experience. Great job on that aspect!

An Ocean Planet by JamieOK 2023-05-15T16:11:57Z

I really enjoyed this, I got in to a 'zen' mode playing it. the only real feedback I have is that the sound of the boat got a bit grating after a while. I also had a bit of an issue where it felt like the game design was fighting with it self. because I wanted to try and speed around and get in to a flow. but it was hard to do that while also reading the text prompts. maybe it's because english isn't my first language, but I had to brake my flow, so that I could read the flavor text. I'm not really sure how you would solve that issue (maybe with voice narration?). but yeah, that my feedback. fantastic job!

Slip & Slice by blotosaur 2023-05-15T16:34:47Z

DAMN! but on some eurobeat and have a good time! I can't say it's the most unique idea but the execution is SOLID! honestly the only this I'd like to see here is just some more juice (particle effects when crashing, etc) the core loop is well made.

The Souls Express by antvelm 2023-05-15T17:12:28Z

When I was brain storming for ideas this LD, this was one of the ideas I had written down. But I knew I wouldn't be able to realize it even if it sounded really interesting. I am so, so, SO, happy to see someone else realize the idea (better then I ever could) it's a beautiful atmospheric experience! fantastic job!

Cow Delivery by RenardGames 2023-05-15T16:23:48Z

HOW THE HELL DID I PLAY THIS FOR SO LONG?!?!?!? I dunno man, really good job! I don't know what happened here for me. nothing about this should work?! I was frustrated and the sound track should have made me insane! instead I was grooving and kept on playing over and over again. this is some masterclass in design my dude!

Pizza Dash by kdx 2023-05-15T17:01:15Z

this had it's own little charm, the low gravity gave me some nostalgic rayman 2 vibes and it kept my hook longer then i think was reasonable  good entry!

Dark Teeth by ecmjohnson 2023-05-15T16:50:33Z

ok... I'm trusting you! Untitled.png

as someone with mild dentalphobia I can't tell if this is the best or worst game I've played this LD  it's at least a 10/10 horror game that's for sure! Even thought I think I understood how to pull the teeth it help text was a bit bothersome. I knew what I had to do, I was just really bad at doing it!

Volcano Buggy by Liven 2023-05-15T16:04:26Z

as you said it's not finished. but somehow I played this for waaaay longer then there was content for. it was really nostalgic for me, reminded me of the old early 3d web games to yesteryears!

DE/LIVER by StormCat 2023-05-15T16:01:20Z

it's a bit rough around the edges, but I enjoyed what was there. the FMV really brought me back to the old days! really cool that you built this in a custom engine?

Sky Island Express by AfroAnt 2023-05-15T16:41:44Z

well considering that I think that airships are the coolest thing ever you already won in my book! this was a aimed and concise experience, my only problem is that there wasn't more! I did have some issue understand how to play at the start, as it took me some time to get the sail down (I also thew the tables overboard my first time around) but I really enjoyed the take on the theme. It felt like a breath of fresh air this LD.

hot damn this was a good time, there was just something about this game that really clicked with me... and it made a lot of sense when I read what @animatrix1490 said about this feeling like a classic newgrounds title!

Really impressive job you guys did here, and in such a short amount of time too.

Void Hunter by GreenPig 2023-10-07T20:39:54Z

Void Hunter.png

not sure what's happening, or if I'm doing something wrong, but the game keeps freezing on this screen when I open the inventory. if it's a bug and you know about it or if you know what I'm doing wrong @ me if you have a solution  I'll refrain from voting in the mean while since that does not seem fair

Tiny Island by ghpxi 2023-10-07T18:44:12Z

I'm a huge sucker for any card-based game with a unique twist, so this is right up my ally! I think this has potential to be a fantastic little "idle-type-game-thingy". I'd love to see some polish stuff like small people moving around, animations to the buildings and environment and of course some sound! but I'd be surprised if these are not all things you thought of already  such is the nature of game jam time crunch!

Fly, Shoot & DIe by Gheorghe Topa 2023-10-21T19:58:55Z

whoa! 5/5 would rate again! nothing else to see or read in to here.

The Long Night of Augustus Brandicourt by Norah 2023-10-07T19:28:49Z

tbh I didn't initially think I'd love this because I'm not the biggest fan of visual novel type games. but after playing it I can easily say my biggest problem is that it's too short!

I found the premise of walking around the house as a spirit discovering who I am, and what I meant to the people around me so captivating. I probably spend a bit too long finding the notes under the bed (I was also able to find the picture in the clock before I found the notes) so I probably spent a bit longer on this than most

Mechanical Mutiny by simex 2023-10-08T09:24:38Z

Thank you so much for taking the time to check out our game! We wholeheartedly agree with your feedback, believe me the shortcomings annoys us more than you. 😣

The main reason the tutorial section is so slow is because the audio triggers for the intro voice lines are based on tile position, so if you could move faster, you’d trigger all the audio clips at the same time 😓 There was also a thought that a slow start would help orient the player? Not sure, all I know is that it annoys us too.

@darkwolf you are 100% on point with the balance issues, and that the UI should be more clear in terms of what items do. But you know the nature of jam games and time pressure. We were still adding and refining things during the last 15min 😂

@cardboardmoon it’s really unfortunate that you ran into that softlock bug, it was a constant demon during development, and I thought we managed to squash it… oh well.

LD56 — Tiny Creatures

Little Defenders by Ty Victorson 2024-10-23T08:36:15Z

I'd really like to try this, but on an ultra-wide monitor the UI disappears  if you ever make a build with windowed mode, or a web version. give me an @

Little Defenders by Ty Victorson 2024-10-24T11:25:31Z

@ty-victorson UI fix worked like a charm! Ended up playing until wave 8 (but I think I could have gone indefinitely) drills are a really good investment

I love games where you end up with a lot of units fighting around in pure chaos, so I had a really good time. I started exploring the map (which is HUGE btw) and maybe there is a missing mechanic I didn't understand, but I found little reason to expand away from the HQ, I was also unable to interact with the bunkers that where found about on the map.

really interesting concept for a rhythm / bullethell game. I'd love to see a this developed to incorporate the music even more, as it felt like there is room to explore in that direction.

Small Mouths, Big Appetites! by BethwellStudios 2024-10-20T13:56:31Z

I didn't get a victory screen, but I think I won? other creatures stopped spawning at least. it's a fun take on a IO type game. PS: holding left MB, while spamming right-click is a broken strategy

SMBA.png

Rex-Terminator by Deruitda 2024-10-14T09:02:28Z

THIS IS WHAT IM TAKING ABOUT! I'll take inspiration from this going forward, because to me, this is what a jam game is all about. it's fun to play, but more so, I can tell that you had fun making it! and that's the whole point imo. we need more games like this

Swarm World War by simex 2024-10-14T12:10:05Z

@ty-victorson hehe glad you liked it! yeah, after a good night sleep I agree that the game is more fun with a bit more money. but the current balance is what I submitted with

.... if you want to try again, there is an infinite money glitch in the current version: > when you remove/sell a building you always get 10$, but sandbags only cost 5$

Swarm World War by simex 2024-10-25T07:19:32Z

@cliva @johnbrynte thank you so much for trying out the game, I hope somewhat enjoyed it  on the construction side, it's my fault for not telegraphing it properly. but you can hold shift to keep placing the same object again, and for sandbags you can click-drag to place a line of them.

This is the first LD in a while where I didn't have time to make a tutorial, I think it hurts the experience quite a bit  Have to give that a higher priority next time!

Bigger Prey by iron_head 2024-10-20T13:06:24Z

I love the graphical style in this one, and you've inspired me to maybe try something similar next ld! it's really well executed for what it is, I felt maybe the headbob was a bit too aggressive (but I'm also prone to easily get motion sick) but other than that it seems like you knew what you wanted to do and executed on the idea well

Bug Attack 2 by Gurbx 2024-10-20T13:49:16Z

this is really cool, I've never seen a reverse tower defense game before. and it's such a good idea. the only comments I have are similar to the others, the UI could be streamlined a little, and maybe the game could be a bit faster paced. but overall I think this is a fantastic entry, with a really cool concept. I'd love to play a 'complete' version of this idea

Drooplets! by tukisboolukis 2024-10-14T08:49:52Z

the speed up button was a god send. I love simulation games like these and playing around with the droplet interactions is really satisfying. I think it speaks for it self when my only feedback is that we need more content!

Formuroll by Utopia 2024-10-14T08:05:01Z

I am not smart enough for this game  it's a really cool and unique take on a puzzle type game, the only thing it could really need apart from some polish is a really solid tutorial. I ended up just buy a tonne of creates and it seemed to continue working, but I don't really know why

Dr. Deckenstein: An Adventure in Severed Parts by quill18 2016-04-21T01:23:00

This game is a lot of fun, it has those 'one more try(turn)' effect on me that civ has, and on my 5th try rngesus was on my side, I got 2 bonesaws(which was totally broken, you can't really get wounded), 3 legendaries, 20 END etc, etc, and when I get to the dragon I thought I'd do one more orc encounter to push my END to 21, and then..... then, the encounter select screen bugged out on me, I couldn't progress... I couldn't do anything... the only button on my screen that would react was the taunting restart button, my god the nerd rage was real.

So I won't be killing a dragon tonight, I'll give it another go when my nerd rage subsides.
Really good game, one of the only games I've played for more than 15min so far.

Roamin' Hordes by Imperial Unit 2016-04-20T15:25:00

better then TW:Rome II, but yeah, all in all it a very fun game, I wish there were some more icons on the screen to show what kind of units I had and what kind was attacking them, so I could learn the rock-paper-scissors economy (if there is one), and grow as a general.
Whit that said I'm very impressed you were able to make this within the time limit.
