LD35 — Shapeshift

DRACUL64 by josefnpat 2016-04-21T09:13:00

I kept playing longer than I intended so that's a good sign. Music and sound was very good, and liked the retro pixel style graphics - they came together to create a nice 'hammer' era horror atmosphere. The main flaw was the camera controls - it turned very very slowly making it hard to aim and move.

Vikings by timtipgames 2016-04-27T03:39:00

Very enjoyable game that ran flawlessly.

The audio worked nicely eluding to little fights taking place all over the map. The ritual sign was a great thematic way to do the summoning without clogging up the screen with excessive UI.

The background music was very nice but I feel it was a bit too laid back for the intense action that was taking place on my screen.

Great job!

Shift 'n Drift by LandoSystems 2016-04-19T05:30:00

Solid Game with a great shapeshifting theme. The teaching mechanic for the new balloons is implemented perfectly. Being able to demonstrate its specific use visually without bogging down the user in paragraphs of text is a great touch.

The Mysterious Shapeshifter by TheColorMan 2016-04-21T09:41:00

Some challenging puzzles that took a few attempts, and good work on putting an illustrated story in there. Had a small issue with the rock crushing people when they were pushing it along the ground.

LapidemMortuis by Pomb 2016-04-23T09:06:00

All the elements blended together nicely to create a very polished looking game. The animations themselves were very well done adding a true sense of weight to their attacks and blocks.

Robot Hockey Carange by ThreeUp 2016-04-20T09:54:00

Fun little game. Took a lil bit to grasp the control scheme of this game but I started to get the hang of it after the first match.

Hammerspace by BasmanovDaniil 2016-04-20T10:01:00

A great concept and a very unique take on the shape shifting theme.

The Wolf Hunt by Mak 2016-04-20T10:33:00

Short and simple experience, but decent difficulty, and good that you put in a story and two game modes (human/wolf). Played on Mac and didn't have any issues.

The Ragdoll Show by Ken Ichi 2016-04-27T13:03:00

I liked the concept and the nice variety of shapes included. I struggled fruitlessly as I tried to get the poor ragdoll into the '3'. The controls were a bit difficult, especially when I was trying to curl the ragdoll into a ball. With a bit of a control touch up, I could see this being a pretty fun couch/party game to play with a few mates.

Crazy Race by holgk 2016-04-21T14:15:00

An interesting idea of having your vehicle change form throughout the race with each form having their own strengths and weaknesses. Only real issue I had was that the AI crashed early leaving me to drive around the track by myself, but for a 2 day project this was a very solid effort.

March of the Wizards by BarkingCat 2016-04-22T05:36:00

I enjoyed it. The method of using the running wizards a health bar was ingenious.

Shapeshift by suurin 2016-04-21T11:00:00

What an amazing game. The combination of the simple yet very clear art style, the tight controls, and the new music you added creates a near hypnotic experience.

Colorshift by foodzilla 2016-04-21T04:32:00

Great puzzle game. It is a shame you did not get to finish more levels as the game mechanics already in place were amazing.

Colorshift by foodzilla 2016-04-21T04:32:00

Jack Shift by Marjie62 2016-04-20T07:05:00

Pretty nice game and the shapeshifting as the stealth mechanic is clever. Would be interesting to see it expanded into a full game as this teaser has left me wanting more.

Rectangle run by IcyLava 2016-04-22T14:46:00

The game looks very stylish. The simple curving of the character during movement really sold it for me as it made the game feel very fluid and responsive.

The Mimic by ponywolf 2016-04-21T12:23:00

Nice visual style that's consistent throughout the game, menus etc., good animation, multiple levels, bit of humour - combined together to give overall feel of high quality. As others have already mentioned, main downside was the controls while trying to aim, which detracted from the combat gameplay.

Goons by gogo199432 2016-04-20T10:27:00

Great game, the idea of turning enemies into objects was a lot of fun. The visual style was very clear and consistent, but I had some tiny frame rate issues on the 3rd stage.

Werewolves in Shibsington by Nanolotl 2016-04-23T04:22:00

Loved it, feels a lot like a singleplayer werewolf/mafia game which is great. All the villagers were very distinct with quirky outfits which allowed me to instantly tell who was who.

Would be nice with a difficulty option to change the number of werewolves although the experience you delivered in such a short time is great.

One tiny issue was that the gun was a bit too powerful allowing you to stunlock the two werewolves without any risk. Maybe it needs some sort of limited ammo or a longer reload time after x number of bullets have been fired to keep the intensity up.

Weaponshift by The Vall 2016-04-19T07:51:00

Great concept idea. The weapon shapeshift mechanic is solid and once you play the same song a few times, you get into the groove of knowing exactly what weapon will be coming up next. The only inconvenience (a minor one) is the lack of enemy attack animations does make it difficult to avoid the damage meaning you are overly reliant on the health potions.

Werewolf Airline Simulator 2016 by Pestel Crew 2016-04-20T09:52:00

Very polished and strangely addictive - not having control over the shape shift mechanic brings a nice challenge to the gameplay - bonus humour points for putting out smokers with a chainsaw werewolf.

Fylgjur by Aaranos 2016-04-21T02:26:00

Nice game. The graphics and animations felt very polished and consistent.

SHAPEshiftSHIFTshape by aberdeenphoenix 2016-05-01T05:10:00

I enjoyed it. The clear visuals and tight controls made memorizing all the different shapes and their positions within the triangle very easy.

The Mining of Life by StaNov 2016-04-20T06:21:00

An enjoyable game to play. The music and art style contributed very nicely to the mood. The shapeshifting mechanic also allowed for some nice puzzles.

Space Shifter by superjai 2016-04-20T06:50:00

Fun game, the types of enemies looked great and the shooting felt fluid. The controls were a bit odd at first since I had assumed they were based off your current direction but became very natural after a minute or two. On my laptop at least the frame rate died shortly after I reached the final form. All in all, a very solid shooter.

The Experiment by Oliver_MB 2016-04-23T15:03:00

A quirky little game that is oozing with humour.

Court Mage by urfbound 2016-04-20T07:46:00

Was a bit overly reliant on the minimap, but a decent shapeshifting puzzle game nonetheless.

Druid 5000 by AuthorX 2016-04-19T04:17:00

Solid idea and execution. The art-style seems to complement the game very nicely.

Wlobbie (Demo) by HeliosStudio 2016-04-19T04:27:00

Neat take on the shapeshift theme. The art style of the house paired with the music gave it a sort of Alice in Wonderland vibe to it.

Project: D.A.S.H by muffty 2016-04-19T14:00:00

Very smooth game play, really picks up in the later levels with all the unit spawners as you have to align your attacks perfectly or risk taking a lot of damage quickly. The character model also looks very nice and they are all easily distinguishable from each other.

ShapeOff by MisterMortal 2016-04-21T09:32:00

Game has a very nice aesthetic design and the gameplay is easy to pick up. The randomness in the rewards led to some risk vs reward decisions where I could pick the incorrect shape for a higher payoff which I enjoyed. The audio you selected for the game also suited it perfectly.

Vishnu Launch by PeachTreeOath 2016-04-19T03:17:00

A new spin on a classic game. The theme seems to complement the game very nicely. The background music is very catchy which helps give it that 'one more turn' kinda feel.

Continental Trade Route Association by Swedishpancaces 2016-04-20T14:34:00

It was definitely relaxing, almost hypnotic, to play until all the towns are connected. Pixel terrain was well done, gameplay and camera were smooth. Had a quirk where it seemed to draw the pink line from the wrong town. Can see the underlying potential of the game, with more time to develop complexity and a risk/loss factor to the gameplay, it should be a fun management game.

Sumo Shape Shifters by brainybeard 2016-04-20T11:28:00

Very fun to play crowded around the same keyboard having a laugh at all the cheesy sound effects and music. Would of helped having some basic AI to control the extra characters.

Kitsune by Lullaby 2016-04-24T09:08:00

Beautiful looking game. Took a bit of time to get used to the gameplay since it is fairly unforgiving but it was very satisfying once you got into the swing of things.

Dr. Lepus - The Last Rabbit On Earth by gurkenlabs 2016-05-01T05:19:00

Fun game. The screen shake each time you fired your weapon made it feel very impactful and rewarding. The pixel art graphics looked great as well.

Oops! My Dear is a Deer by Remdiky 2016-04-19T05:07:00

Very enjoyable game that nailed the theme. The art style and game mechanics are solid which had me playing it several times over. The eating mechanic of the animals/monsters was a great way to add a sense of danger and force the player to keep their eye on the entire play area.

Amorphosis by NvrSkipGameDay 2016-04-20T11:08:00

Simple concept, but very polished and complete product, graphics, music etc. all come together nicely, looks great and it runs smoothly. As mentioned already the controls are a bit difficult without reverse cycle, and the collision with the holes feels like it happens a little early because of the perspective view on the wood.

BlowRider: Legends by WojtaW 2016-04-20T18:47:00

What a fun game. The shapeshifting wheel idea was great and the fact that the controls were so responsive made it even better.

Shape Escape by WeaverDeveloper 2016-04-21T02:00:00

A very solid game. The jumping mechanic was a great idea and it was executed very well. Some of the obstacles were pretty challenging but felt extremely rewarding when you got past them.

4E: Four Elements by Redpillgamedev 2016-04-20T06:36:00

Nice game. An interesting risk reward type mechanic of feeding the enemies to generate more of them in order to get more points. Managed to squeeze out 316 points. Seems the controls and gameplay could translate very well to a mobile game.

Flipsy Shapes by Persimonn Pomelo 2016-04-19T12:02:00

Nice little game with very strong mechanics. Even though the art style is fairly basic, I think it works very well with this sort of game as it helps to isolate the objects and be instantly aware of any changes that may be occurring.

Shapeshift Wizard by foepje12 2016-04-20T09:38:00

Some nice touches in there, like the animated eye for the stealth meter, hiding in bushes, and the visual reaction of enemies when you are in the wrong shape shift form. There is a bug with the menu system, if you lose the first mission, it seems to be impossible to restart the level, without quitting and restarting the game.

With a Pinch of Liver by simex 2016-04-20T09:35:00

A nice hybrid between castle defence and a tug of war game. I did like the potion brewing aspect of the game but I wish there were hotkeys assigned to the ingredients to allow for potions to be made more easily.

ChiroNinja by Reiv 2016-04-19T03:31:00

Great looking characters and animations. The different styles of movement provided varied game play options.

@gurkenlabs, @aberdeenphoenix - glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the heads up with the memory issue.

Left 4 Gabe 3 by VapeurTeam 2016-04-21T09:50:00

Lots of polish and nice little touches to add to the humour, like the background items from TF2, Portal, CS etc. and great quality soundtrack. Challenging, in a good way, with tracking incoming orbs from multiple directions, need to keep track and react quickly. Good job!

Mr. Purrgalar by KairosXIII 2016-04-21T04:16:00

Brilliant idea for a puzzle game. Could easily see this expanded and pushed to different platforms especially mobile.
