holy shit this was so good, Im in a class about the study of horror games and im 100% showing this to everyone in it

oldzombie14 2024-10-07 19:37

I love the atmosphere, but after i picked up the ax, the light bugs stop in front of a tree and I don't know what to do next...

iron-head 2024-10-07 20:07

@malenia OMG! That is great to hear! Thank you so much! <3

iron-head 2024-10-07 20:11

@oldzombie14 Have you tried approaching the mysterious figure to your left? Please replay it and tell us how it went.

skyystorm 2024-10-07 20:51

Pretty good with the horror stuff, though I'll be honest, wasn't quite sure what exactly was happening, especially at the end...

iron-head 2024-10-07 21:01

@skyystorm yeah, that can happen)

thechadrampage 2024-10-08 05:26

Since only members can rate games, I can't rate it on the site, but I personally wanted to write a comment about this game! I really liked the atmosphere, those shoddy graphics made everything more creepy. I liked the interaction buttons, they made the game feel more alive. The sounds in the game could be improved (for example, the sound of footsteps is a bit disturbing and not very pleasant), but overall they create atmosphere too. The main ambient sound was pretty cool. I couldn't run away from the monster, I accidentally ran straight towards it because I got confused. Good luck!!! I hope you get high scores on this gamejam

Very nice atmosphere! Best for me on this ludum dare.

master-yeet 2024-10-08 23:25

I really wonder what the heck is going on in this game but I loved it! Well made I loved the atmosphere and graphics.

solidhinken 2024-10-09 19:51

That escalated quickly omg :D Loved that fireflies are always there to guide you

kadokta 2024-10-10 01:44

Actually hilarious. I love the graphics. Well done!

The atmosphere is nice, but the theme doesn't feel very clear. Maybe I didn’t quite grasp it?

machwerx 2024-10-12 00:56

Nice atmosphere! Great job getting all that in there in just a weekend.

vittima 2024-10-12 09:01

The pixel art makes the atmosphere that much more creepy! It's really cool

natnspectrum 2024-10-13 18:56

The atmo is amazing, the graphics are amazing, and so is the audio! But I could not play this game because of the lag. I couldn't tell you why it was happening, but the game had a solid second delay between audio and actual input. And mixed with the graphics, while very, very well done, made my stomach lurch.

I'm sorry I couldn't play more, and I did try to rate it as fairly as I could for as far as I got in!

iron-head 2024-10-13 19:01

Hey, @natnspectrum, thank you for your feedback! You could try a different browser, like Opera GX or something. Please try it and get back to us!

natnspectrum 2024-10-13 19:17

Okay, gave it a second shot at your recommendation of a different browser. Better results but your games frame rate was still not ideal.

That said, I got to the end- improved the overall! Well made!

iron-head 2024-10-13 20:11

@natnspectrum, glad to hear you got a more pleasureable experience.

The framerate thing is weird, 'cause it should be ok, based on the feedback we got from different people in person. Even so, the game weighs 23 MB and renders at 256x144 px, so idk man. I'm sorry.

sourcehorse 2024-10-13 21:48

That was totally sweet! I loved the presentation and theming. Couple critiques: 1. The first change in perspective was pretty confusing. 2. Would have loved some ambient forest audio to complete the mood.

volkolak 2024-10-20 12:50

An interesting experience that brings up different thoughts.

simex 2024-10-20 13:06

I love the graphical style in this one, and you've inspired me to maybe try something similar next ld! it's really well executed for what it is, I felt maybe the headbob was a bit too aggressive (but I'm also prone to easily get motion sick) but other than that it seems like you knew what you wanted to do and executed on the idea well
