Reminded me of the board game Boss Monster, a really cool idea that i think would work if fully fletched out! nice job!
Great game idea! I love the premise of this. The gameplay is fun too, kind of like an anti loop-hero. I could see this making a really cool full game!
This game was absolutely great! The idea was so clever and the implementation was really smart. Such a unique use of the theme as well. I had no idea if I was going to make it or not on the last level and barely squeaked in the victory. I was on the edge of my seat! So great!!!
I love the art style and gameplay was so fun, it was challenging to think for the best strategy. Good game!
Very nice game ! Loved the concept, had a lot of fun playing it. However I feel like it was a bit too hard, and left me thinking that there was no good choice for the rooms when there is too many different jobs on the adventurer party since they had an advantage on every room. :/
Remarkably engaging. I think it could definitely use more options for tiles that have certain directions closed like the slime bridge for variety. I also really appreciated the well paced easing in of mechanics.
haha that was a really original play, thanks for sharing it! Loved the art style, the music and sound plus the game loop was pretty intersting
Man this is just an awesome fun little game. I dont even have anything to offer in terms of constructive criticism. Super solid work
Amazing idea that was executed very well! I really enjoyed this game. The idea was easy to grasp, the pacing was great and the game ran smoothly with very intuitive controls.
If I could change something, I would add more control over the path, like the slime bridge, as that was the only room without all 4 walls open. Like a corner room or a vertical connection. I really liked the treasure room concept, but it was too expensive so I'm happy there was a level with it pre-built.
Managed to save up 3950 by the end!
Very nice! Super snappy and good controls, nice music and art as well!
My only slight issue was that i didn't realize what the end goal was (have 3k gold?) before the end of level 10. But the experience was fun anyway so it was not a big deal.
Well done! :D
Absolutely love this game, some rooms seem kinda unreasonably expensive tho, but overall really well done
Great game, I loved playing it! The puzzles were really great - having to figure out the best combination of rooms that you could still afford - and it made for some great strategic gameplay. The mechanics were also introduced nicely, which kept the game from getting too confusing, and it was all explained well! I loved the artwork as well, particularly for the characters; I loved how each of them had their own personality! The sound effects for each room were also a good addition, it made it a lot more interesting to watch the adventurers move through the level. I'd love to see this game expanded on, it has a lot of potential with the ideas and content it has right now - well done!
Love the party room :D
Neat concept, my only gripe is that pre-placed rooms should maybe be somehow marked so you don't try to remove them and wonder why nothing happens 😅
Great game! I couldn't won, but look like I was so close...
Visual, music and mood are good. Boardgame style is awesome!
LIked it! The music and graphics were great! I found it a little easy because I just placed the gorilla rooms everywhere, but it is good!
What a fun game! I don't know where to begin, the music is so fitting, the artwork looks so cute, the way you integrated the theme is innovative and fun, and it's easy to understand and play. Amazing work, I never played anything like this before!
the game concept is just so awesome and fun, the art and audio is amazing too! my favorite thing about it, is the sax goblin. well done
I was really surprised by how much depth there is in this game! I caught myself saying "I could make them run straight across with slimes, oh but they have an archer, slimes won't be good..." Really really cool. And a great implementation of the "prepare phase then simulate phase" kind of game.
Congrats to your whole team, especially @lordanb and @pedro-cortx for first Ludum Dare!
I was hooked all the way to the end! The gameplay was engaging and watching the money counter increase was very satisfying. Honestly the presentation was so good I forgot I was playing a game made in 72 hours
That was a ton of fun. I really enjoyed how everything interacted with each other. I can't imagine trying to do that much thinking during a jam, well done! x.x
Something caused my party to lose in the middle of one of the levels and I ended up losing most of my gold, but I had fun with this one otherwise! Graphics and music were fantastic, awesome job on this game
Great concept and use of the theme and very nice visuals and sound. Really easy to understand and play, just all around a really great game. Good job!
Made it with 80 gold to spare! Cool game I like the dungeon building part. Halfway through I did some math think the golem factory just makes most sense in later levels. The bonus usually euqal themselves out and the +8sec from the golems ist the longest delay compared to the price. Or am I seeing something wrong?
Hello everyone! Thank you so much for playing and for all your amazing feedback!
@aeternall @ruruie Terrain tiles with different directions/control over the path is definitely something we wanted to add, but sadly didn't have time. Some of our scrapped concepts were the bifurcation and the trifurcation rooms, that would be able to split the party, a room that would make adventurers go in the opposite direction and an elbow/corner room!
@albionbrown @noskro I agree the golem room is definitely a bit OP and the game does have some balancing issues overall. I think finding the time to playtest and balance out all the bonuses, combos and prices of the rooms, along with the increasing possibilities of the growing grid was definitely a bigger challenge than we anticipated when we came up with this concept! Personally, by the end of the jam I was still drawing assets like crazy and what balancing we did manage to do was thanks to @lordanb!
@lectvs Hey! I watched your stream (thanks a lot again for playing!) and what happened was your berserker reached the dragon without going through all the rooms you built, so that's why you didn't regain all the money you spent! I didn't say anything while you were playing because learning as you go is also a part of the fun, but the adventurers actually choose the next room randomly XD They don't necessarily clear everything you built!
I loved the aesthetics, the pacing and complexity was spot on for the scope of a jam game, and I felt sufficiently challenged. Good music too, it all feels lovingly crafted. It took me a moment to realise how to get started but the rest went smoothly.
Amazing game! Really fun and I love the theme of it. Though I couldnt pass level 6 since it said I have to make a path for the exit even though I filled everything :(
Very cool game and mostly very innovative, I loved the art, music and overall design (the enemies and room and such). Well done!
Hey, @ralfz, thanks for playing and for the feedback!! It's possible on level 6 you tried to use the slime haaalwaaaay as a connection and didn't realize it only connects from left to right (no doors on top/bottom). That might be why the game didn't register as a complete path to the exit!
Pretty fun concept executed well. I struggled for a while at the beginning to figure out how the controls worked that I had to drag room types onto the map, so maybe something in the description would have helped, also only realised at the later stages that I did not need to fill the whole map, and failed on my first run. On my second playthrough once i understood the mechanics it was pretty straighforward to weigh up the times per room based on the party and pay the debt. Maybe could do with some more elements to make it less easy to calculate, perhaps some more randomness, not seeing the whole party, or some rooms have chance to waste extra time based on dice roll or something. Anyway had fun, no complaints, art was nicely done, music too, good take on the theme too, solid entry all round.
Thanks @borabee, yes that was the problem, makes total sense!
Hi awesome game!! I would love to play it with more levels and more rooms options (and a bit of balancing, the game seems too easy) But anyway insane participation!
Very great take on the theme! I wish that there were more variety in the shapes of rooms, maybe arrows to show which way the heroes will walk when they enter to throw in a few wrenches.
Also, since all the questions are in money for time things can get pretty easily optimized. I'd see about throwing in a few extra resources/wrinkles.
All in all though, really enjoyable!
This game has such a unique premise, and the take on the theme is so cool. I really enjoyed playing it, the only gripe I had was that is was a bit hard to understand what path the adventures where going to take throughout my dungeon! but other than that I'd say you guys did a fantastic job here.
Great game! One of the few LD games that i played all the way to the end. Allllmost managed to get 3k as well. I was a little wasteful on one of the rounds. I like all the aspects, the music, the art and the design. Something you could improve on is giving the dungeon master something to do while the adventurers are clearing their way to the dragon. A little bit too idle :P
