That was some intense fun! I liked the retro-ness of it all and trying to figure out the "trick" of the bosses I saw. The music was also an intense lil bop to get you in the mood of battling bosses. Well done. =)
Roooaaaaarrrrrr! It was cool to be a dinosaur for a bit! I think some work on balancing the lighting could be super helpful though - it's really late here and it kinda hurt to play. I really liked the intro though, it was the right level of dramatic for a dinosaur game. :D
The graphics on here are amazing. The music sets the mood and the intensity ramping is great. At first, when I saw the title and thumbnail I thought maybe we'd be protecting sea turtles but instead we're attacking them to defend our sand castles. Oh heck. :P Well done though, making something feel as complete as that during a game jam is hard and you pulled it off well.
So much of this game is so wonderfully done. That being said, I have to agree with the first comment where I didn't quite get past the button smashing of print money. More options would be nice to really get into the swing of having (temporary) power. BUT, it's a Ludum Dare game, you only have so much time (just like the dictator).
Well done and thanks for this take on dictatorship overthrow. :D
This is really cute! I found it incredibly confusing to start though. A bit of a tutorial/easing in before lvl 2 with 4 characters could really turn this into a fun challenge curve.
This was intense! I had a ton of, can it be called fun? We'll call it fun for now. It was enjoyable gameplay with a serious message underneath. The voices were great. The intensity was pretty gosh darn good. I'm amazed that this was made in the short time of a game jam!
Finally a place where my stupid fast typing can shine, until my anxiety hits at least! First try: 135. I unfortunately panicked and stopped reading the words properly and thus typos abounded haha. I think the difficulty ramping could have benefits, for sure, from being more gradual and starting far sooner. I did find myself wondering if I was just going to play until boredom took me but suddenly words were flipping themselves upside down and sideways and coming in bundles of four... I'm going back in.! I am too tired to do more, but I'll leave with this. =)

@marin0104 It is definitely a game designed to make you try a few times before you can get good results! It took me awhile before I could get very far at all.
@nardandas That is as close to winning as I've seen for sure! That being said, you may have lost cause that song is going to be stuck in your head for awhile if you're at all like the rest of us mortals!
@gandelianna Trying to think of what was inevitable, not depressing, and not something we would be upset about stopping. Ear worms, they're the worst without actually being *that* bad.
The rest was the genius of the others and I did not follow their majestic leaps to this piece of art so I cannot speak for them.
Thank you though! :D
This is hands down the most dastardly take on the theme I have seen so far. It took me a moment and then I laughed.
Thank you for that laugh.
Also, I want to win, heck.!
image_2022-04-16_104245.png
I was wondering when I'd run into a covid related game! I unfortunately came down with it at the start of the jam (it definitely seems inevitable at this point... ha..ha). Your intro lines made me laugh an inappropriate length of time for such a dry delivery.
This also appropriately captured my absolute horror with public transit. Too well done!
May we all one day get to have little pods that take us through tubes super fast like some sort of hamster fantasy.
That was a ton of fun. I really enjoyed how everything interacted with each other. I can't imagine trying to do that much thinking during a jam, well done! x.x
This was neat to play! One thing I will say is frustrating is when the spikes spawn and get auto-attacked, thus killing you with no chance of repair. ;-; Ah well, I got to level 50 and had a good time - well done and thank you. =)
That was amazing! I loved it so much, especially once things started getting mixed. The atmosphere is beyond belief. I'd love to see this explored in a longer game. Thank you!
Suuuuper cute game and idea. The gameplay itself could have used some work, but that's my only issue. It was super frustrating trying to weed something and just watering a spot that didn't need water, so having different buttons for weed, water and plant could have been a big improvement for me. Also I'm not sure if it's a bug but I found I stopped moving randomly and this made me so sad cause I was enjoying it so much. ;-; If it's supposed to happen, an end scene would be nice. I just ended up staring at myself for a couple minutes wondering if that's the end game or not.
If this was made less hectic (less, inevitable) and mobile friendly I could see it becoming the most addictive mobile game the universe has ever seen. Or, with a bit of story, an adorable Steam game that would warm the heart.
Thank you for making this!
I definitely, DEFINITELY, think turning it into something similar to Overcooked but farm style would be AMAZING.
I'm now picturing dashing to the workbench to try and get some weed killer to buy me a minute to "drag" the harvest to the bin, oh my gosh.
Love the way your brain works! Looking forward to seeing more of your stuff!
I *loved* the direction you went with this. I did struggle with execution though, some more time and smoother interactions with items would be appreciated if this game goes on. That being said, it's a really cool concept and making such an externally viewed area easily controlled is really really challenging - especially for a game jam so this is incredible. I'd love to see something like this done more thoroughly, with more time during the day/month and proper setup being possible.
Super cool.
What a game!! That was absolutely wonderful. My only gripe was that the owl kept telling me to talk to the Mouse and the mouse was not giving me any intel whatsoever for the owl. I figured it out though by using the image at the top. Took some trial and error. The amount of everything that went into this game is amazing give that it's a Ludum Dare game.
I also really appreciate the conservation theme and how you can't just relocate animals without knowing what they need to be safe.
Well done. :D
This was so super cute!
I really enjoyed it, even though the controls (mouse and keyboard) were realllly painful.
If you added in more content post-jam, and fixed the controls, this could be an amazing lil game. Heck if this was given a bit of a storyline I would add it to my wishlist pretty gosh dang fast.
Very well done!
This was really neat! I like that you included a mechanic to keep "just dig" from being the most viable option there is.
This game seems like it has so much potential, it's really impressive! I think it could have benefitted from having some sort of visual for stars that have been visited/colonized, and also I don't know if it's possible, but I would have liked to queue several ships to travel out in different directions, together. But that stuff is really hard to fit into a jam so, amazingly well done!
The concept for this game seems soooooooooooo good!!!!
But, as mentioned above, I kept getting stuck in loops, early early on. So I haven't been able to figure out what the gameplay feels like.
Either way, the humour seems great, the music was enjoyable (sound effects too!) and the level design was charming.
I regret that it was unplayable for me, but it looks like you all made a great game. :D
The music is excellent. I feel like this was developed for mobile, thus explaining the size on my screen, but even then I feel like seeing the cards is, difficult.
The aesthetic is really cool, though, but I struggle to find the point... I seem to just be winning everything. That could just be balancing issues, though, which are really hard to sort out in a game jam.
Keep on bopping!
Loved it! Played it twice. I'm biased, I love slimes, but my goodness that was wonderful. Thank you! :D
This made me feel the inevitability! Well done.
My only real critique here is if there is the ability to use wasd, then e should also be used for refueling the fire or some such. I found myself panickedly spamming my keyboard trying to figure out how to refuel the fire, before realizing I was silly and I just needed to click.
But yeah, the atmosphere of this is just great. I loved the models, the way the snow flurries around, the ebb and flow. The little shivers. The attention to detail in this is so amazing, especially so given that it's a jam. Very, very well done. =)
The speedboost at the beginning was absolutely awesome.
The mechanics were also pretty solid though I wasn't a big fan of the bomb, I feel like something that I could lob behind me would have been more appreciated, if this were to turn into something bigger.
It didn't quite feel inevitable to me, though, if I'm being perfectly honest, but that's really my only gripe.
If this had some audio thrown in on it I'd have way too much fun zoning out to some digs.
This was a concept that made me laugh inevitably. I like puns and that was excellent. Game startup felt a bit off, but that's stuff that can be changed given more time. Well done. :D
Got to level 22 and then stopped cause 22 is a great number. I really enjoyed it, thank you. =) My only gripe has to do with the tutorial, it felt phenomenally slow due to the zoom ins and everything. There is a humour to it as it brings me back to those classic games, but for me right now I just want to get to the gaaaaame and I understand the premise so the slower intro isn't needed. A hover text with arrows while still allowing me to move is my preference, but I understand if this was not done for artistic purposes.
If I wasn't so tired I'd probably have kept playing but here we are. Well done. :D
The music for this creates such a mood that I just want to keep playing.
But, I keep dying.
Nearly instantly. This makes me sad, I want to do well but it's just so difficult to know where the safe space is. I thought I was in the clear a few times and I clearly wasn't cause, I died.
Thank you for letting us continue to enjoy the atmosphere after we die though! The mood is super super super well done, thank you. =)
Love the twist on zombie horror! Awesomely done. Normally I'm not the biggest fan of card games but this one was a pleasant change - thank you!
@ThorPalsson, @anchry: Thank you both so much. The musician of the group will be so happy to hear people are enjoying it. =) I'll let him know. I hope your game gets similarly high praise over the next few days. :D
The music really lined up nicely with the tension of the games idea. The [spoilers!] did feel a bit off though, but thinking up stuff like that can be challenging in the short span of a jam so, well done. =)
I got to 259 on one play and that is the limit of what I can do. On an earlier playthrough I had a bug where I asked for faster pew pew and it set my amount of bullets, and speed, back to the default setting.. which got me pretty much instakilled, I had about 2 seconds of "what?". Also - are the edges intended to be instadeath?
Despite this not being my genre *at all* I really enjoyed the game. The movement felt fluid beyond belief and the music made everything feel incredibly inevitable - well done!
My main gripe (aside from what I assume is a bug, which happens in jams) is that I would have liked just a tiny bit of, wobble? Some give, on the movement, so that the fluidity could be felt more. Just so that I can use the whole area of the base screen without feeling like I am certainly getting myself killed. Just another "inch" of space, so that when you sway to the edges you can see the load in area of the mobs, could be super super super nice and make the whole flow feel beyond perfect.
But, this is a game jam game, and it's inevitable, so locked in stuck is exactly on theme.
Well done. :D
That was really fun! There were lots of times where I felt frustrated because I was building a line and my little robot decided to go off on an adventure without the line, but I think that this might be one of those issues that is best solved with more time than a game jam gives.
Really fun, I liked the feeling of the music and graphics and it really absorbed me. :D
Did I win?
image_2022-04-07_153005.png
I loved this, it was super relaxing and the sounds helped lull me into, not quite sleep but definitely resting. This is not a complaint mind - I've had really bad insomnia the past few days and this has relaxed me perfectly. I'm writing this while enjoying my turret defense music and sipping on some rooibos tea. My only "complaints" are mirrored in the others, there doesn't seem to be any increase in difficulty as time goes on and so this took me a long, long time to build. Then there is the need to move the UI/make it semi-transparent/hideable. The top and bottom bars cover a lot of space (beyond what we see I learned) and at one point I had to wait awhile for the rotation to make placement opportunities possible again despite being able to clearly see empty spots. Either way though, I loved this so much, thank you!
Nice social commentary. Mixing fun gameplay with a point is a hard mix but you did it! Well done. :D
This was really fun despite being a platformer (I'm so bad at them ;-;). If further work goes into it I'd say putting some effort into ensuring the bags pickup range is smaller would be greatly appreciated - I kept picking it up on the weak ledges and getting dropped despite it being further along the solid shelf. ;-;
Amazing on the Terry Pratchett quote. Legendary. The graphics were really nice and the concept is neat - a bit of a classic with make a deal with death to try to stay alive, and then going back to a classic such as chess is just doubling down on classicalness. Chess isn't my favourite game in the world so I didn't get too into the gameplay, but I can say it's gorgeous and it seems very well executed. =) Well done!
This has some really nice atmosphere, though the sense of inevitability feels kinda slow, but maybe that's the point. This isn't rushed, by any means, and the slow pacing of the dialogue forces that, often frustratingly for me.
Overall though, I like the idea!
This was amazing!
You got the bops, you got the intense play, you have a killer ending. I was engaged, I was into it, I played again!
Thank you so much. =)
I liked how the the room progressed through various levels of filth as things stack up!
I got stuck in a room, twice, where I had a zombie and a door to break down and that is HARD. Doing things like ramping up the difficulty in a smooth way is REALLY HARD in a game jam, but I feel like this could become a boss mobile game given a bit more work because that was really fun. Thank you. :D
I love that you went for the feel of Undertale but gave it a bit of a twist to introduce more humour. I'm not really into coffee culture so a lot of this just went over my head, but as somebody who thinks coffee is gross the jokes still seem like they're properly satirical. Sorry you couldn't finish it in the time period you wanted, though - you should still be proud!
This game is so cuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuute. I cannot cope. If more time were to be put into the game I would say working on the controls early game is a must cause it was so frustrating.
I love it though, so much.
Well done!
Loved it!
My only gripe was that I kept managing to close the programme mid play so that I couldn't actually play the game for more than a few rounds (I even tried a cursor locker). =(
Oh, and sometimes right click just wouldn't work for me and I'd have to try a couple more times before I could get the water to pour or whatnot.
This was tons of fun though! Thank you. :D
So much to do! This really made me feel like I wasn't going to be able to keep up at just the right moments. Well done! :D
This game scratches an itch so, so well. It's a tower defense game, which is a great concept, but it's pacifist, which is an amazing twist. I loved it so much, I could lose hours in this if I'm not careful. Well done! :D
The concept of this is really, really cool. That being said, I couldn't type any numbers. ;-; Not sure why, but it just wouldn't work for me. I really like the take on the theme though, props for innovation there!
That was an intense ride! It took me a whole "life" to figure out how the controls did but, once I figured it out... I was even more stressed! Inevitability was, only somewhat delayed! Very well done!
The intro animation to this was amazing, I loved the little fly. The music was a happy bop. Overall, this is a lovely little game jam entry - thank you. :D
This was absolutely wonderful and major points for being wholesome! I loved it.
What an astounding first entry to a jam. o:
I loved it! Though admittedly I did think the baby was a dog and was very happy that I could pet the doggo.
This is one of those games that I feel could become really fun if it was expanded and given more time.
Thanks for making this! :D
This is such a neat idea!
The controls were stressful (my wrist hurts now) but I feel like this could be expanded into such a cool thing. Things like having excessive brushing on a tooth wearing down the defense of the tooth could be cool, excessive whitening also makes cavities more likely, etc. Upgrades for the teeth and everything. You could educate the world with this game!
I like it.
That was such a wonderful experience!
There was one panel I saw where the words got cut off at the bottom which made me a bit sad, but overall this game was astounding.
Well done and thank you. :D
I suck at driving games. So I tried to be clever. It said to smash into cars to heal yourself, so... I went in the other direction. My car is on fire. And I'm flipped over a divide. I feel lied to.
In all seriousness, though, it was fun. The physics were really good, if finicky, but I can't imagine trying to make something as precise as a driving game in a game jam. Well done. :D
Monkeys!!! I'll admit that I feel a bit lost as to why this manor is inevitable, but you gotta love some monkey banana humour. Pretty solid work for a game made in the short length of a jam!
That was a fun fast-paced game! The placement of the blocks was antagonistic for me, but I think there may be a point to that in a game about trying to delay forest fires!
I found myself just "playing" the game instead of trying to analyze it for a bit, which I think means huge success. :D
Well done!
Oh gosh the sound when one of the little ones gets eaten. x.x This game has such a nice atmosphere until the predator wants to destroy you. I really liked the music and the concept is lovely but also horrifying. Well done.
The idea behind this game is suuuuper cool. That being said the audio felt really unbalanced with the skill cards being super loud for me (I jumped). I was really, REALLY enjoying the chill vibes when suddenly I got yelled at. That being said - I love the background music so much. As to gameplay, I am sure it is really fun cause on my third or fourth attempt I got a role where mistah killy wasn't right on me and so I got to do more than 5 turns... but by then I already felt a bit frustrated that what I got was a short game of click 4-5 times cause there's nothing to do. I died on the last run because my double dice rolled a 2. I think I'm just not meant to beat this game. xD Overall though, very well done in the span of a game jam! That's intense work. My only critique for this as a game jam is putting in extra work on volume levels cause those of us with sound sensitivities appreciate it so much. =)
That was so cute! And then I jumped. Oh my gosh. >.<
I was watching the face and trying to go farther to see if there is more but I'm *really* bad at this game. I don't know if there's a face beyond o.o cause I didn't get much of a lead..
Also, you can fart bubbles! I love it haha.
Really interesting premise! I think the underlying mechanics could use some tweaking but that stuff takes time and game jams don't provide that. It would be really cool to see this game given some time and additional resources.
Well done. =)
I haven't had that strong of an intrigued response to a game since I fell down a hole and talked to a flower. Wow. That scratched an itch I didn't know I had. I was invested. I was just enjoying the game thinking that I didn't understand how you made squares look so cute, and then we went on a journey together.
My only gripe is that making me switch from c and space, to mouse clicking, was kinda frustrating as it is an unholy hour where I am and I wanted to be able to slouch and I had to keep alternating what hand was supporting ma face.
That's, pretty minor though. Well done overall, and thank you.
The mood of this game was amazing. I love the humour and the randomness of it all. Also so many non-glitchy mini games made in such a short time - Well done!
I love how simple the idea is but how engaging that was. Took me a solid while before I got bored. Well done! :D
This was hilarious. Quick note though: I got a bit motion sick when the boat was swinging wayyy too much. Trying to unlock that chest was a bit of a mess. I loved it though. I want to see it bigger, with first-person multiplayer, I feel like it'd be a great party game.
That was awesome! It's a beautiful blend of focus and frantic. The graphics were also really pretty and the atmosphere just great.
I did feel a little lost as to the point of the torches (I think they slow down the big scary?) but that was probably me not paying attention enough to the tutorial.
This is definitely a concept that I think could be really cool if it was moved into something bigger.
Well done. :3
This is super, super cute! I love the take on the theme here and the humor is so gentle that it doesn't interfere with the aesthetic. Balance is super hard to get during game jams but you did it, well done. :D
"It's a trap" is going to be stuck in my head now thanks to you villains. I like the take on inevitable, the mood is very oppressive but the overall message there is that dictatorships cannot last. Nice.
That was a rather enjoyable game, I love how the premise got flipped on its head. Masterfully done!
This game definitely has its charm.
I liked the idea of having a variable wing flap based on, something (breathing in/out I believe in this case), but I feel like it was a bit too much on top of the sorting colours challenge on top of the managing wingflaps to food consumption <- changing food consumption levels is very cool though. Perhaps my issue was that a critical piece of knowledge for game mechanics was situated behind the character, when we have to be looking forwards, so it made it feel like flap strength was random as the bar was outside of my focus. I frequently found myself floating *just* above a butterfly that I wanted.
The music was a delight though and it was overall an uplifting feel, despite us slowly starving a bird.
Well done! :D
The atmosphere of this game is absolutely amazing. That being said, the gameplay (or maybe tutelage) leaves much to be desired on my end. WASD felt like it only did things when using the arrow keys in rhythm. I understand that my movements are supposed to guide the music but it didn't feel like that, it just felt like tapping arrow keys to the pattern shown on my screen until suddenly there were letters and I had to try to smash the keys out fast enough.
There is a lot of potential in this game, though, and ironing out complex(er) mechanics isn't easy to do in the space of a single jam so very, very well done!
The graphics were amazing with the concept of aging through the game. The music was also very proper for a sidescrolling game. The gameplay itself felt, lacking, as there was really nothing I could do to delay the inevitable (which admittedly is part of the point of inevitable..).
Overall something to make the gameplay itself more engaging would have been appreciated, but overall this is very well done. Thank you. =)
This was an ambitious project and you did a great job with it! I am assuming that procedural generation was used to make the level, as the inevitability of the game was, moot, for me. There was a couch on a ledge that they couldn't reach and so if I did nothing they all just faceplanted the wall.
If that wasn't an issue, this game would have been pretty amazing. I really enjoyed the music.
All in all, it's a great game especially given that it was made in such a short time. Well done!
I have wanted the portion of Sea of Thieves that is just trying to repair holes. This is the closest I've seen so far. Thank you so much. I had a blast.
The game was an interesting take and the music definitely set the creepiest mood I've ever seen in a tower defense type game. Well done there. :D That being said, and I can see you've commented on this, but the user interface was, very hard to work with. Tower defense style games are my thing, but, I stopped playing because it wasn't enjoyable due to UI issues. On my screen the bottom section was partially cut off, and (with 20/20 vision) I was squinting at the screen due to the low contrast. This made the game unenjoyable even though the concept is great and the execution seems very useable. I can't imagine how people with vision issues would find the game. Other than that the game seems like it would be great and my only sadness is that the UI is so restrictive and, in the span of a jam, it is really hard to get everything down.
What a place of chaos! That was a fun few minutes of my life. This has all the chaos of Overcooked and I feel like making it multiplayer could make it quite the party game.
This is a neat concept and I really enjoyed playing the game. I would have probably benefitted from collision with log meaning picking up log cause I was very bad at picking up logs. I ended up getting distracted though from the main mission and I kept trying to make friends with the beastie...
I think it's safe to say that it was a fulfilling relationship, for the beast.
I tried to play but for some reason the rar file just won't come apart properly for me. Unsure if other people are having this problem so I wanted to let you know. The images look great though!
@mrhumannn Unless you have an absolutely massive game I have plenty of room. =( And unfortunately the programme I used was a fresh install. I do hope other people don't have the same problems though and that it's just on my end!
Jelliiiiieeeesssssss!
I love jellies, not sure why but to me they are absolutely required for a game to be a good game. And you delivered - thank you.
That being said, I don't get what's inevitable about this.. Jellies winning? Cause that's awesome, but we're supposed to delay the inevitable, so I am *le confused*.
That being said I enjoyed this game, it has jellies - which were VERY jelly, oh my gosh those physics were amazing.
Thank you!
This was a super cool idea and I absolutely loved the atmosphere that was set from the very beginning. My only complaint is that the management felt needlessly challenging due to not being able to monitor the rooms all at once, already trying to manage that many people was challenging but it took me awhile to realize that I had to retrieve people from the side rooms, and there's no way of knowing when they're ready other than clicking the room, and checking on them. That being said, balance in a jam is REALLY HARD to get so, well done!
This is such a fun concept and I think it could really go somewhere with more work.
That being said... please don't use multiple windows. x.x It turned the game from "this will be fun" to "oh hell it isn't opening properly again".
A better method to do this, in my opinion, would be to make the game be a "desktop" that you can navigate and have popups within.
I adored the system, and should it have been easier to navigate I could imagine my losing myself to it for hours... just that was a very large amount of straws on my back very quickly.
Most of this post is negative because of that issue, sorry for that. I genuinely loved the idea and most of the setup, I just couldn't get to all the great stuff because of that one tiny issue.
Regardless, I did have fun until the popups blocked me from being able to play so thanks for the great world that you built! :D
Is it supposed to just turn black when you reach the computer? If so - I won?
That was a superbly designed level though! Just enough "clutter" to make it feel real without making me feel like I was inconvenienced. Always a hard balance.
The spacing between the respawns and what you are trying to do was also perfect so that my brain had to work but not too hard.
A great relaxing little puzzle of a game. Balance is so hard to do in the time constraint of a game jam.
My only room for growth comment is that, if I did reach the end, I'm confused that I did, so either a bug needs to be fixed or a the end indicator needs to happen for those of us who aren't clever.
Either way, very well done! :D
This is a realllllllly cool concept, I loved the ideas.
That being said, some fine-tuning would definitely be needed to make this a "finished" game in the sense of getting it past the game jam limit.
I found the totally of not being able to see frustrating, I didn't know if I was going in the right direction or not and nearly stopped before stumbling on the end.
Even with that though, getting something this engaging is hard in a game jam so super well done. =) Thank you.
The music was fair gorgeous and that you used different tech from most to build your game was pretty cool. But, I have to echo some others here, it didn't feel like a game. It felt more like a desktop background that is interactive.
Something as simple as an intro scene that explains that we are an ancient sentient rock tasks with helping a phoenix regain enough energy so they can do their fire molt thing would create an appeal to the process.
As it stands, I don't know how to provide feedback for it as a game. My apologies.
That was silly amounts of fuuuuun!
Running through with the Bow +1 I had a mental "Oh Yeah!" koolaid guy style when I won.
My only comment RE room for growth would be to maybe have it so that you don't have to click for every swing/shoot, and just allow us to hold the mouse button down as well? Makes the game a bit more accessible. =)
Incredibly well done though, I loved it so much. There is no aspect that wasn't super well done. :D
This was fun.
There are some issues to iron out - I personally wasn't a fan that words automatically "entered" when they were full - I lost points to a last second switchup of letters (goign instead of going, for example) and that could be frustrating.
There also is the issue that I found a few actual words that weren't the "right" word and got penalized for it. Dealing with this issue though is, I'd imagine, far beyond the scope of a game jam game.
Those issues aside, the game is fun, it's well executed, and I had a blast.
Thank you. :D
@simplepotential You are a legend! :D
An important topic to discuss and the atmosphere fit the topic very well.
I was a bit disappointed that I couldn't figure out how to fullscreen the game as it was quite small in the browser box and so reading was a bit challenging for me. I also only found 2 endings. I apparently can't find out how to be "harmful". Edit: As soon as I hit enter I realized what the third way would be and I got it. Well done.
I really like that you took this on and how choice is/isn't available at different times. That being said, when I work on more sensitive topics I like to include links to things letting people know their rights (not that this protects them all the time, but it can sometimes help) and also to support services for those affected. It takes a few minutes to assemble which is precious time in a game jam but it helps smooth out the interaction for folks where this might hit home too closely in the moment.
Overall though, very well done. Thank you.
This was really fun!
Aside from the point that my pickup was really glitchy and would fail more often than not. This made getting the items into the pan in the short time span really difficult. I would be sitting there stabbing at a tomato slice for 5 seconds.
I am the one who finds all the weird bugs though, so it's entirely possible I broke the game. >>;
Overall though this is a really impressive entry! If the way to bring ingredients to the frying pan was fixed, this would be beyond amazing. Thank you. :D
I really love how you handled farming with cards!
It was really fun... until I found myself softlocked with a pumpkin and then did some quick maths and went "oh no, I don't have that kind of time today". I was at first thinking of tabbing out but when I was out of the screen it was still holding onto my mouse so I would have had to just stop using my computer for 10,000 x 7 seconds. :sob:
The music was absolutely amazing though. My partner, walking by, laughed at how I was just merrily head bopping while enjoying the game.
I'm trying to think of the "room for growth" comment and the only thing I can think of is that the top left corner popup is in the way of me seeing my tiles. Minor issue cause I didn't get to the point I needed to use it but there you go, constructive feedback.
Overall though, seriously well done. I would love to see this game developed more. Thank you.
That was amazing!
The art, the mechanics, the music, the layout, THE CHALLENGE.
Everything about this was spot on, aside from the point that it was too short! Which.......... has to happen during a game jam. ;-; Curse you 72 hour limit!
I honestly don't have any room for growth comment to give, the game was a perfectly enjoyable game, which is just so bizarre to be able to manage in the length of a game jam. Your quality control was so on point.
Very well done!
This was sooooo cool! The level design, the graphics, the music, THE CONCEPT.
Oh my world this is amazing.
I loved how I hard to learn to move faster at correcting my mistakes, that was so much fun.
My only critique would be that r may be too "easy" a key to hit for a reset of a level - there were a few times when I hit r instead of enter and my heart broke a little.
That being said, I loathe platformers, and this game I did not hate, I even enjoyed it.
Superbly done! :D Thank you!
@tsfreddie I feel like the reset button is nice in case of frustration, but yeah maybe a button that can be clicked (or tied to p, which is a long way away from r and wasd) to let people pause and then reset if they want to. That way no accidental loss of progress but also helping people avoid the rages. =) Great job seeking continual feedback. :D
Thank you so much for playing already!!! @nyrh @lectvs and @aj-studio We are super grateful - though not yet done updating the game. ^^;;
We are probably going to be pushing updates up until the last minute so if you're curious about what will change feel free to check in then. :D
I'll check your games out then too. On my otter honour.
@joedev The song was made by TinyViking, our fourth game jam member who doesn't seem to have an account on here haha. He's a great musician with a killer wit. =) I passed on the message though and thank you.
@gerd Thank you so much! Ursagames came up with so many cool things for this jam and Spooderdooder made some solid models. =)
@gamejmunk Thank you for that feedback! We can try to remember to include a mouse portion in our tutorial next time. I had noticed that the mouse wasn't shown and then *completely* forgot to give that feedback to the team. Woops.
@coolbeens Glad you enjoyed! Ursagames and Spooderdooder did a great job with the gameplay and modelling and TinyViking did a great job with the music indeed. Thank you for the feedback. =)
@harry-alissavakis Thank you so much! Ursagames made the puzzles and I really thought he did a great job. :3 I am glad to hear you had some fun with positional strategy too. I was worried I either made the map too sparse or too cluttered so your feedback is a big relief.
@pschichtel Thanks for the feedback on the layout! I was trying to make sure that things didn't feel too cluttered/annoying while avoiding the sparse feeling I missed the mark it seems. Good to know that next time I can play more with my field. :D
@doctor-zeus This has to be the best review I have ever read haha Thank you so much. :two_hearts: Also thank you for noticing the level design work. Nobody ever notices the level design work. :cold_sweat:
This is a REALLY cool concept!
I do think the concept though may have been too complicated for the time constraints of a game jam.
I can already see a lot of people saying that there were frustrations with feeling punished for trying to experiment, or not quite understanding how the side worked, and dying too fast. I can echo them but not provide much more than that.
The game though really does feel like it could be something reallllly cool if it were developed more. I think if there was just a waiter that would grab the "best" item available, instead of making us put our desired item in the slot, it could add a level of hilarity/frustration(for those who can make it further into the game) and take some of the stress off.
Knowing that I had to make increasingly complicated things, but having no feedback, was another struggling point of mine - not sure if that was mentioned at all.
THAT BEING SAID, this was a COMPLICATED idea, you put in A LOT of content. The problem is with balancing, which is always a struggle in a game jam because you have limited time and, more importantly, limited time for feedback.
It would be really cool to see what could be done with this game given more time. Thank you for the experience. =)
This was suuuuuper well done! The art, the pacing, the music, the design. It's just all chef's kiss.
My only critique (and it's such a mild one) is that I got 2 matches JUST in the nick of time and it still gave me a no-no sound even as the top bar gave a <3.
Now I am not upset cause the game still let me have 3 people that I matched with and so I didn't actually lose out, I just always try to give a room for growth comment and this time it was really hard.
Thank you so much for the fast paced fun!
The graphics and design of this game are inspiring! It's just so gorgeous. The fast paced music also really sets the mood.
That being said, it didn't feel like a game in any real sense because I didn't feel rewarded or punished for the performance of my character. It also felt lacking in interaction. I'm not sure if I'm missing something but it felt like the task was to click on the pizza in the top left, then click the rolling pin, wait, click the ingredients, wait, click the oven, wait, click the thingy in front of the rolling pin, wait... and repeat. So it ended up making the 10 second buff/curse feel pointless.
That is something that can easily be managed at a later time, though. As I said above, the game is GORGEOUS. Way beyond what I could ever expect from a game jam.
One quick note/aside: when uploading files for others to download, it can help us *a lot* if you include the title of your game in the filename. I have a lot of files labelled something along the lines of "LDJAM51" and so it gets tricky fast when reviewing to know which file to open.
Overall though - well done and thank you for the dose of art. <3
@r3d3r I honestly didn't finish because I didn't know there was an end. ^^; Sorry.
This game looks and sounds gorgeous. It's also of a genre that I adore. However, I couldn't figure it out. I had to restart the tutorial a few times and noticed that you can get placed in such a way as to not enable you to get the city connected and a factory running.
Making the tutorial be a fixed map so that the person can, for sure, get a power plant and operational factory could be really helpful.
This game is amazing though! Just needs some polish that is nearly impossible to manage in a game jam.
Super well done! :D
The replayability of this is amazing. I got 9 before realizing that it's late and I have to go to bed. ;-; My partner came over cause I was dancing to the music - I have to say that I've never before been so into dancing to a murder mystery before!
I don't really have a critique for this one to be honest. The graphics were adorable, the theme was pretty great and gave a sense of pressure, the randomness made a continual gameplay cycle possible and it was fun the whole way through. My partner and I high-fived each time I got the killer. It was tons of fun!
Incredibly well done here.
That was amazing! I wish I could wax a poor form of poetry over everything you did but, alas, spoilers!
...
I loved how you did pretty much everything in the game. I only say pretty much because I'm sure there is *something* that wasn't perfect? Right?
How did you do that in the span of a game jam?
Okay I'm going to dig deep to try to find something to constructively critique... Oh! Sometimes I would manage to engage in dialogue at the very last millisecond and it would send me back to the start anyways. Maybe providing a bit of a buffer around text could help reduce some frustrations? That's all I got. Super well done, thank you.
Fun area game!
I liked the differing colours of the skeletons a surprising amount. And the music was top notch.
As to anything I think that could be worked on for the future... I guess it would be that eventually I ended up with only the coins in the center which were practically inaccessible because the mob was so large they were never not on the coins, and the periphery was empty. Having some sort of respawn could be nice?
Either way, great jam entry. I had lots of fun. =)
Before I even start: I am so excited for this concept. Jaw dropped and smiling.
Then I got myself stuck. Oh well. :P
This is a really fun idea, the retro style art is also fun to pull on that nostalgia feel.
My only issue is that the controls interact with the web version in weird ways (losing fullscreen with esc for example). That's fairly minor and easily fixed - quality control is hard to manage in the short time frame of a game jam.
Thank you for the fun. :D
@wildmusketeer Oh I just couldn't figure out the puzzle with the limited brain space I was running on haha. Nothing buggy on your end. It was early on, 1 clone, 2 buttons with one behind a gate. I tried recording myself running into the gate in the hopes that when I had the gate open the clone would keep moving but... alas.. no such luck. After that I decided I needed a nap. :P
I will do anything for the capybara. Even play a platformer.
I.... completely failed to understand the 10 second theme though.
Everything about this was well done, aside from the 10s thing. =)
At first I was really concerned with the gameplay as the auto-clicker didn't seem to work. Then I realized I just had to wait. So I got my ukulele out for my daily practice, and waited.
And by the end, I was laughing so hard my face hurt.
Thank you so very, very much.
I got to 1559 before I got frustrated with having to remember too much stuff. xD It was chaos and I loved it. But when I couldn't figure out what bacon was the shortcut for I baiiiiiiiiiiiled.
The music was great, the visuals were great if sometimes leaving me feeling a bit confused when new things popped up (I thought the mayo was melted cheese for a bit till the menu board told me otherwise).
I genuinely loved how you managed the menu board - even if it did end up leaving me confused. If I wasn't so tired I would have kept going on for as long as possible.
Loved it, thank you.
Fun. Hectic.
Me likey.
Me likey a lot. I think my only wish would be that once I've looked at a recipe it pops onto a line or something, just so that it's quickly separated from the rest of the orders in case I need to check again.
That being said, I did NOT do well. xD I loved it though!
Stupendously well done for a game jam game, I am in awe.
This game is really well done!
There are some bugs (I ended up on top of bears and couldn't see them?) and the placing of the secondary item killed me more often than not because it often would take too long to accept that I was clicking to place. Which is too bad because I was really looking forward to a long, drawn out seige.
That being said the concept is hilarious, the bears are adorable, the level design is gorgeous. Audio is good.
Aside from the bugs and smoothing out gameplay, this game is a perfect little creation, and bugs/rough gameplay is one of the primary feature of game jams. :P
Well done! :D
I killed 321 zombies. :D COUNTDOWN! XD
I had a lot of fun with this, I liked the take. Simple, easy to understand, let's get to the pew pew. Well done!
My "room for growth" comment would be that I think I found a bug.... my gun got stuck, several times, in a random direction... so I ran far away from the zombies and just sat there shooting while strafing sideways in the hopes that nothing would get past my genius technique. XD On level up the gun would sometimes unstuck so then I'd try to find the zombies... and then it would stick again and I'd have to fleeeeeee.
Still had fun - great job making a game that was entertaining even with that bug. :D Amazing work. :3
612!
Reading the instructions I was confused by why I had to hold shift and how things worked but then things became very obvious.
I REALLY enjoyed this concept.
My frustration came in trying to find guns/ammo on top of the typing and whatnot. I'm fairly quick at the typing so I was EXCITED for this. I did feel a little bit let down though when it ended up feeling a bit more like a herd-the-zombies and run out of bullets within 3 seconds. Just a few too many things in the air to get a real good balance on within the short confines of a game jam.
That being said, you had me completely enchanted and my partner even stopped to watch.
It's hard to believe something this awesome could be done in the length of a jam but you did it! Amazing art style, the sound was beautiful, and the game mechanism wasn't overly simplistic. Given more time, with some balancing, this could become a terrifyingly addictive game.
VICTORBEE!!!!
Suuuuuuuuuuper cute game! There was a surprising amount of focus necessary despite the simple mechanisms.
I was a bit lost as to how things worked, I was staring at the chart in the pause menu after losing a bunch of bees. I think a simple Bee image with a - Nectar Image and a little clock might have been enough to break my moment of non-thinking. ^^;; But maybe I'm just that dense right now haha.
Other than me being a bit thick, my only actual critique would be that the "beegin" required clicking and dragging a bee to it. Before figuring it out I was refreshing the page thinking I'd broken something. Having an in-game mechanism used to activate something before the tutorial is a risky choice and I don't think it paid off here.
The rest of the game MORE than made up for it, holy beeswax petunia. I went in mildly irked and by the end was head bobbing and mildly sad that it cut me off when I won.
Thank you for the wonderful experience. =)
I saw the thumbnail and had to play!
And then I had a bunch of images downloaded that I don't want to keep. :sob: I think it's critical to put a "do you want to automatically download your drawings" toggle in the game.
This was fun, feels almost like a drawing trainer rather than a game, though.
The music really sets the tone for the game and the shuffling creates this sense of drive. The atmosphere was super, super well done.
I think that having a healing option that passively regens, instead of having to "throw away" a full chest to heal would have been nice to have in the strategy. That way slip ups could be rewarded down the line if the player just worked harder to not get touched. That's just my "room for growth" comment though, I'm a player who prefers regen over no regen and that may not be the feel you wanted from this game. =) Regular one team heals just feel like a throwaway level up to me.
Thank you for the game though, I had to stop myself from playing it instead of just trying again, and again, and again.
A multiplayer game during LD? Cool!
But alas, I HAVE NO FRIENDS. :sob:
So I tried to play against myself. Several times.
Bizarrely, I always lost. Huh. I am no match for me it seems.
I also always won, though. Why? Naturally gifted. :smirk:
I had fun! The visuals, sounds and gameplay were simple but effective.
I was very confused at first so a quick tutorial scene would be of huge benefit for a game such as this, but tutorials are really hard to fit into game jam time. Well done. :D
I am blown away by how polished that was. I did feel like I got stuck in spots that I shouldn't have some time, but I'm also not good at these types of games so I'm 95% sure that's a user error. xD
I can't really think of any critique other than maybe making the cells slightly bigger, without making the characters/enemies bigger so that people who panic have an easier time. :P But then it may seem too simple.
I love how you could use the skulls to create a nicer environment for running... or doom yourself entirely.
Thank you. :D
(And for feedback/troubleshooting, I use Opera on Windows and the web was incredibly laggy so I had to go to download.)
The atmosphere, graphics and music were all spot on. Very, very well done. The room for growth "critique" would be the gameplay. Things felt a bit confusing and the stickiness to walls / not jumping when you should be able to was something that made me stop playing before I won.
That being said, it's hard to balance things well and have nothing buggy in a game jam so this isn't me saying it's a bad game. Far from it. I'd love to see the game again with the issues fixed. =)
Thank you.
The graphics were adorable, the story was compelling, the music was top notch.
But... the mechanics were far too much for me.
I managed to make a single potion before stopping (I think 3 people had left).
There are many tiny things that could have made many of the overwhelm easier to handle, but as it stands, that was so complicated. x.x
This was an extremely ambitious game and you successfully delivered so many aspects to it and that makes it really cool! But, with the confines of 10 seconds, doing everything became instantly too rushed. Each aspect was enough on its own to create a game-jam level of challenge.
I feel like I could have managed if the recipe appeared over the persons head after I talked to them, with the popup crystals, but not the minigames at the cauldron. With all the mini spams/type-ups it went from "what a wonderful world" to "I am overwhelmed and this stopped being enjoyable, I'm just confused". Which is a shame because the rest is soooooooooooo good.
I'd really like to see this made with a version for mortals because I really want to get to enjoy all that it has to offer (that I'm able to handle).
Please feel free to send me a shout if you develop it further. =)
This looked crazy fun!
Unfortunately, it wouldn't work past one or two planes for me on the web browser. So I downloaded it! Bwahahahaha!
It worked much better. It was fun.
The design was really clever. I loved the level layout, so many little things to consider. I would have kept playing it for much, much longer but I want to keep giving feedback to people so alas, I must move on. ;-;
Everything was great! Just fixing the web export is the only critique I would have. <3
The atmosphere of the game is really great, the graphics were simple but clear and with the repeating tones in the music it all came together to be something really relaxing.
Gameplay wise... I wasn't clever enough to understand. I just set an angle and watched as all of my satellites nicely spun around, and the happiness bar went up to where the curve at the top starts and then just, stayed.
I don't know what I was doing wrong cause I was getting more satellites and they weren't really crashing into each other... but also I wasn't doing anything either?
That being said, orbital mechanics!?!?!? That was so cool to see in a game jam! Thank you. :D
That was so much fun! I loved the humorous take on the theme as well. xD
My "room for growth" comment would come down to the physics. Sometimes my bar was *very* red and no glassy break even though I was as against the glass as I could figure. There were also times where my character just decided to walk in a circle of his own volition.
That being said, it's a game jam. Bugs are to be expected and even with those challenges, it was REALLY fun.
Thank you for giving me a sneaking game that didn't suck all the joy out of my day. It's a rare treat. :D
Intennnnnse. :D That was fun, thank you.
There is a bug somewhere cause I got a little thingy in the corner telling me there was a bug but I have no idea what it was cause I didn't notice anything. I did die trying to explore and find the bug, though. The next playthrough didn't have the bug.
If I were to give a critique it would be that it would be nice if the heal arches (did they heal? I was too busy panicking to notice :s ) could go away after you get the green glowyness so that you don't then try to go in the arches again... Buuuuuuuuut that would remove some of the chaos so I'm really torn on the idea. Clear communication, or chaos.
Well done. I was fully engaged and that's after a full day of testing out game jam games. Thank you again.
This was hilarious and I loved it. Unfortunately the evil NAN kept finding me. ;-;
Other than that bug, very well done. It was fun and witty. :D
Nyooooooooom. I didn't win but I had a blast. Too much of a blast, I kept crashing. But this game will forever nyoooom in my heart.
The only critique I have is that the little blocks that stay and turn into solid metal? are a bit of a downer. But that's part of a challenging gameplay so.. *shrug*.
Thank you for the great game. Nyoooom.
I died. :(
That was a lot of fun though haha!
My only critique was that I got stuck at one point without a gun for awhile because the timings just worked out that way I guess? Other than that I had way too much fun.
This was very well balanced, which is beyond challenging for a game jam.
This was a REALLY cool concept. Shame that it couldn't be finished on time but kudos for continuing with it! So many people make the deadline date be the end and then, even if they could make something stellar they just stop cause it's done (which is also fine, but I'm proud that you kept on!)
That being said, for assessment I used the original link.
The concept is really cool and how you executed it is super neat. A time distortion game that's more fleshed out (as in a full length game) could be soooo much fun.
Thank you!
390 seconds. So.... I have ADHD. I was shrieking the whole way through and my partner was laughing at me asking if I felt called out. ...Mebe.
Not knowing if the things cooking would burn while I was stuck in mind-game was intense (I'm just saying this happens to me IRL all the time so my partner is the chef of the house).
When it finished I laughed so hard I was crying.
Very well done. I loved it.
Best use of humour that I've seen so far, and frankly one of the best takes on the theme. It truly is EVERY 10 seconds. Thank you.
I jumped more than once. XD I played for a couple wins, it was a lot of fun!
I ended up cheesing things by creating pumpkin chains so that I had visual on the enemy if they came within a certain distance of me - which was really fun.
Creating a jam that lets the user be creative is really tricky and you did it.
The only critique I have is maybe making the corn somehow textured? But that's just me trying to always make sure I give a "room for growth" comment. You knocked this one outta the park! :D
The level design is on fire! This game was really really well designed and everything was incredibly smooth... aside from me dropping a ton of coffees in areas where I couldn't see the boss as he walked around. I also found it amusing because to me the boss looks like that guy from that motorcycle show (my partner said Orange County Choppers so maybe that's it?).
My main critique though would be making the game last 5 minutes for a win. With only one thing to do it gets redundant fairly fast and my initial impression was "5 minutes is a loooong time to do one thing".
That being said, I didn't really feel the time until probably three and a half minutes in, which is about twice as long as I expected to be able to last so very very well done. :D
I eventually stopped and got 6980. Noice.
That was fun.
I didn't realize how much pent-up frustration university gave me over Freud and so the therapy session of shooting "Freud" in the face was bizarrely relaxing.
The only critique I really have is it could have been nice to have an ending, or serialized appointments. Ohhhh a series of bad therapists could be destroyed. MUAHAHAHA... I mean *coughs*.
Thanks for the game. :D
This is a realllllly fun concept! My only issue is I seemed to be having control issues. Movement felt choppy and getting into the cashier booth was a struggle and a half because it felt like I got bounced around - I have no idea if that was intentional or not.
Overall though I enjoyed the idea. If gameplay was smoother I would have played for a loooong time.
Thank you. :D
I get to play as a mushrooooom! o: I actually started bouncing in my seat I was so excited haha.
That was so much fuuuuuuuuuuun! I even tried playing on the hardest setting. I did not do well. Probably because I was too excited about the mushroom reality to remember I had spacebar.
The tutorial was also really good! Simple, efficient, and got the point across. :D
Thank you so much!
I wish this was a full length game with adventuring and solving problems for villagers...
That was really cool. The level design was off the charts. Thanks for the fun gameplay! The only real "room for growth" comment that I would have is fixing that web glitch. ;D I still had fun though, and I woke up.
I was so excited when I saw the sheep, and then the sheep were so creepy. o.o;;
Art, sound, level design are all great.
The movement between scenes is choppy but, that's what nightmares are like so I'm into it.
I wasn't smart enough to figure out what I was supposed to do, though. Read some books, looked at some paintings, stopped noises from happening.... Tried to talk to plants to no avail.
I just didn't get it, sorry. =( I still liked the aspects I understood, though.
Truly beautifully done. =)
Welp I got terrified. I just exited the popup and this shadow person ran in from my right and I nearly threw my laptop. o.o
This game was pretty neat. I liked the idea and even though I'm a *chicken* with horror games, I tried again a few times.
My room for growth comment would go to the point that putting holes in the wall was really 50/50 on if it would let me through our not and that could be frustrating, trying to figure out why my character wouldn't go through this massive hole while knowing that something is chasing me.
Overall though, you spooked me, and I kept playing. Well done. :D
That was some slick fps playing. It's hard to believe that is possible in the time constraints of a game jam. o:
I would love to see this fleshed out into a larger game, it was lots of fun!
My only critique is that I ended up sitting in a room for a few cycles of energy drink/finger pistol, just waiting for a med kit before moving forward. Having something to prevent that from happening could be nice but it's a realllllly minor complaint.
Well done and thank you for the fun play.
I am AWFUL at platformers so I got almost nowhere, but it's very clear that this is an amazingly polished game. I enjoyed the floaty feeling, though the spikes felt a bit fast but that's probably because I am *bad* at platformers.
Well done! :D
I loved the cinematic intro - what drama! The concept is cute and why don't the goblins get to have trousers. :sob: Poor dears.
Gameplay wise, while fun I did find the handling felt a bit clunky. I didn't feel compelled to try more than once because there were moments of frustration where angles/movements felt not aligned with what I asked of the game.
THAT BEING SAID - clunky gameplay is a part of game jams, to have smooth gameplay in such a short time is an unrealistic expectation so please don't take that as insult - I just have to say something that indicates room for growth otherwise my feedback won't be useful. ;-;
The difficulty curve was *perfect* though. Which is something that I have never, ever ever ever expected in a game jam so pat yourself on the back there. Even games made with no time limits fail on the difficulty curve aspect more often than not. I stand (sit) in awe.
Thank you for the fun. =)
Really neat game! I love that you can care for yourself to win.
The music was a wee bit too short of a loop for a pleasant listening experience but honestly I didn't mind, it felt very much so like insomnia.
The little pals are adorable and I love that they all get a little personality and story.
Overall it's a super impressive game for a game jam!
My only critique is that I don't think things that end at the very last moment in the timeline are used...
I still had a fairly easy time though and so it was a lovely little journey into hoping I can defeat my insomnia tonight.
Thanks for the gameplay. :D
This is the first time I've ever won a bullet-hell type game. Thank you. :D
I have long awaited a game where you get less strong over time instead of becoming OP, and this was AMAZING!
I did have to eventually download the game, as right clicking wasn't working quite right in the web but overall this game was very well done.
The laser enemies were my enemy because I sometimes struggled to find them.
Room for growth comment would be maybe putting in something so that when people are in the menu and looking at the weapons, having a preview of what the weapon does. That would be so beyond convoluted though for the time you have in a game jam so extraordinary job!
Thank you again.
The games were entertaining, but I failed to see the plot. ^^;
It's a really neat concept to fit into the timeframe of a gamejam!
I got 10140. I have no idea if this is a good score, but at that point I was just struggling to keep track of what item I had because I wasn't clever enough to watch the little bubble by my cursor. ^^;
This game was super cute, the sound effects were great, the tutorial was engaging.
In terms of room for improvement, I think some sound balancing between the tutorial and game would be nice and the ability to back up in the tutorial would be nice because I ended up skipping one spot too fast completely by accident and couldn't go back. ;-; I went into the game nervous, but the slow first level helped calm me down.
Very very well done. Super adorable, a fun take on an old school game style and I enjoyed myself greatly. Thank you. =)
Now I understand why I've never bothered to drink. x.x A platformer - my genre nemesis - AND the effects of being drunk?
I did not get far. XD Pit of dooooooooooom!
Overall though I loved it. The silly moments of too-hard, the wobbly-esque music. The visuals.
I can't comment on accuracy but it definitely has reinforced my life choices.
Well done on this jam. :D
Really interesting scene setting with some intense gameplay! The mobs were really cute/fascinating to look at and my only regret is I wish I could look at them more fully without... having them trying to kill me. Well done! :D
I'm bad at poker so this is confusion for me, but as some feedback- the cards dealt to me in the ldjam webpage were just green with lines through them and I was so confused as to what to do.
I opened the game up on the other webpage and realized you're supposed to see the cards. So much was explained. xD
No idea why that happened - maybe cause I'm on Opera?
Regardless, the concept seems cool. Chaos is something I like and this seems to have buckets of it.
Well done. :D
This is such an amazing take on the theme!
It took me a couple tries to get what I needed to do but once it clicked I was amazed by how genius this take is.
This genre isn't really my style but I still had a suitable style of fun. Unfortunately, it not being my style I don't really have the ability to give any room for growth comments. =( Sorry.
From what I can tell though, this is an amazing game and you deserve to feel proud of your work. :D
Thanks for the inspiration. :3
In the beginning, I didn't understand the point, I was putting trash in the nearby green bins. Then I came here and saw people discussing a boss and points, so I reloaded and tried to play basketball with the football/garbage.
It took me awhile to get to the area I needed to be.
And then, and THEN. Wow.
It's hard to believe one person did so much in so little time.
This felt like a full feature game, not a game jam game.
The level design, intro confusion aside, is amazing. There are actual characters. The gameplay is satisfying.
Everything about this was really enjoyable.
Thank you for the experience!
This was wonderful! It felt surprisingly calm for something that also made me focus so strongly.
The art was simple but that just made it feel clean. The music enhanced this feeling with how perfect it was.
The meteors crashing fairly regularly gave an almost sitting-by-the-window-on-a-rainy-day feel and I loved it.
My only unhappiness was that it ended.
Thank you. =)
A rhythm game with story in a game jam? Awesomely done! That must have been a challenge to get balanced but I think you did an impressively great job of it.
I was really excited for the story but it wasn't quite my jam (ha, punned). That being said the animations in each level were amazing and overall this was quite the impressive entry.
Thanks for the fun time!
I played this a bucketload of times and only made it to just past 3 minutes.
It took me far too long to figure out how to rotate pieces - I kept trying to use r. x.x
The graphics were great, the sounds were *so* rewarding and the music kept me in the zone.
Due to the fast pace, the popups were completely ignored by me, I just didn't have the time to look over to the corner and read sentences so I was missing feedback, I think.
I loved the game though and really really really want to see it with maybe not the 10 second pressure. Having this as a game where I can pause to build as I like between popups instead of being forced into that ten seconds grind would be, heavenly.
Thank you so much, I'm going to be daydreaming of this in chill mode all day now. xD
This game was suuuuuuuuuper cute and I normally love music matching games because it feels like a delightful puzzle that makes my brain tingle.
But the statues being in the "wrong" order (as compared to the bars up top) left me feeling frustrated and I didn't get past the first level post tutorial. =(
Sorry I can't get farther to give you further feedback. It just felt so frustrating to go "okay the second note needs to go down/up I think... oh darn which statue was it again" and then furiously click until I find it.
I love that you are making a series via the jams though. Hopefully I can see more of the adventures in a future game. :D
I am a winnar! This game was super cute and impressively polished, especially when consider it's a game jam game. o:
It took awhile to get used to the handling - not something I expected to say for such a "casual" point and click game but I did spend way too much time at first trying to "correct" my robot.
By the end though it was so beyond relaxing, just letting the pathing do its thing and it really felt like I was there to support our little friend instead of BE that friend. I enjoyed myself greatly - thank you.
Adorably done!
Music was great, scenes were great, art was wonderful.
I really enjoyed this!
My only "room for growth" comment would come down to I'd love to see some sense of progression. I'm not sure if I was just failing the mini games at the last second, but the quest aspect of the game was missing for me after the intro scene.
Still incredibly well done though! I had fun - thank you. :3
The idea on this is absolutely, stunningly amazing.
The execution unfortunately didn't make it for me. With that being said, I loathe platformers so I'm not the target audience anyways and so anything I say should be taken with grains of salt.
The camera perspective shifts, in my opinion, made the game unplayable. There are so many views where you just can't see what is happening in a way that makes you unable to respond.
Then there are the reloads that put you below a platform.
Making things work with neat ideas in game jams is HARD cause of the time constraints and this would be a hefty project to try to tackle.
The sounds were great, everything was incredibly smooth which felt really nice... it's just that I died way too fast due to things I couldn't control.
Thank you though for the experience, even if I hate platformers I genuinely enjoyed how smooth everything felt. Bizarrely dystopian.
That was really awesome! The design is gorgeous, the spacing of the visual elements was *perfect*.
I think it might also be useful to not lose the bottom rows, but top. I don't know why but when the word moved "up" instead of a bar blocking from the top, my brain just went "I don't like this, I'm out."
I also found a bug where I was clicking and dragging in an above row while the previous row was finishing the sorted animation... and when the row I was working with dropped, the tile I was holding disappeared, which made the word no longer solvable.
Then the other critique I would have is that having proper nouns in the list (Henry, Berlin) makes the game fairly culture specific and so removing those could improve the accessibility.
I did adore this game though - the feedback isn't to bring the game down, just as "room for growth" comments. :3
You made my brain do the tingly thing and that was wonderful.
Thank you so much for the fun this morning. :D
I survived for 1347 seconds.
The gameplay was really fun, I liked the take that level ups were time based instead of on how many mobs you killed. I play a lot of mobile games like this to relax and help me sleep but normally the levelling up is based on killing mobs instead of just, time. The mobs also looked a lot like one of the games I play so that was neat too.
For my "constructive feedback": having the current stats listed in the level up menu would help with decision making and there were some typos. Nothing big.
Overall a simple idea that turned out to be surprisingly addicting. Thank you.
That was awesome haha. Also - how does anybody in that house sleep? Sir, 10 seconds is too often to check on a child, the kid needs their sleep.
It was pretty awesome being a kid again, though - thanks for that.
The only critique I kinda have is that I think I found a bug. I would be laying down in the dark and he would yell at me anyways (through the door). After awhile he stopped doing this and I think that's how the gameplay is "supposed" to go? Not sure.
Regardless, dear old grandpa let us all be a kid again, and if I was any good at platformers, I would have stuck out the entire game but alas, I am completely defeated by them and adding a stealth aspect just demolished me. I am proud to say that I hit the first checkpoint though!
Very well done. :D
That was so beautiful. :sob: :sob: :sob: :sob:
Absolutely stunning. I wish I could play it with things a wee bit slower so I could read what I was missing.
The only critique that I really have is it took me way too long to realize that I had to just ignore a lot of the popups because once the timer was done you couldn't pick *anything*. I think either having all the options disappear at the end, or having the cards popup without options for a few seconds before providing options so that we get the chance to pivot our eyes could create a more relaxing experience.
But part of life is letting go of what you can't hold. And this pushed on that so, so well.
I'm truly stunned. Thank you.
That game was intense faaaaast. Absolute chaos haha. But isn't that how life be sometimes?
My room for growth comment would probably be slowing things down a bit in the difficulty arc. Having so many matches up AND hiding their combos was a bit much for my smol, smooth brain.
It was fun though. Chaotic. I liked it. Thank you.
That was so much fun! Until I got to the end. The boss was, not the greatest to be honest. My fireball hitbox felt far too small and that poison cloud felt HUGE. This was especially a problem given that the poison clouds sometimes just, went under the borders and I would be stuck trying to guess where it would pop up. The other solution would be a faster attack time as that long of a delay on a missed shot that visually hits is pretty much guaranteed death.
Balancing is HARD in a game jam, though. I'm super impressed by the entry. I would love to play it again if an easier mode a la boss fight were to be made. =)
Thank you for the fun time!
Need to edit in: I loved the level design, the graphics and audio and everything else were absolutely mint.
I have no critiques. The closest thing I could come to was with the rainbow I genuinely thought it was going to be "minesweeper" but with like unicorns and other pride related things.
Oh boy was I wrong.
As for my review - I have only thanks.
Well done.
The atmosphere of this game is perfect. Absolutely perfect. Very well done. :D I got 27 breaths and 183 pollen.
My only critique would be that the shop isn't the best defined to tell us that we can use the top of the sign instead of the bottom - I had to restart a couple times cause I thought I had to hit the shopkeep and then I got eaten. =( Alternatively, just making the shop a safe zone or raising the shop could be a huge help to silly folks like me.
Either way, I loved the game, a bit of calm that I needed today - thank you. =D
This music and visuals REALLY set the mood for a timed quiz game.
The questions could have had some work done to create a clearer understanding because sometimes I didn't know what was being asked of me, but that's a minor thing and it comes with time that game jams just don't have.
Well done. :D
I couldn't get very far because I kept clicking the wrong thing. That was INTENSE. My partner came in and was trying to talk to me and I didn't even notice him. ^^;;
Well done on the game, a point-n-click with a sense of urgency is very novel and I liked it.
Graphics were cute, sound was fun, level design was involved. Overall a solid entry. :D
What an atmosphere you created!
This really felt like a full game. Short, but full.
My only critique would probably be that having an action button so close to wasd is a bold move when both have to be used fairly frequently. I'm not dexterous enough to have that be an easy maneuver.
But for real though, wow. You DELIVERED.
Thank you.
Surprisingly stressful for a maze game! Incredibly well done!
The levels were really fun to play. I loved the take on the theme. The way that certain nooks became your friend instead of enemy was also REALLY cool!
I do feel like the lighting could have have a bit of a pulse to it in order to help during fast run times - where it gets an additional cells distance away but fades in and out. There were just too many times where I was panic running and got caught in a corner for my liking.
But this is a game jam, and finetuning user experiences is HARD.
This is extremely well done and I could see the concept being fleshed out more into a wonderful "full" game. :D
@paul-avallone That's awesome! It's gonna be a killer game. :D
image_2022-10-06_185219041.png
I laughed, hard.
The level design is nicely laid out, the visuals are mint and almost all of the sounds are very compelling.
The control of where you are aiming though... oof.
I loved the rest of it, if it has been a where-the-cursor-is aiming, or even just giving me more of a leeway on where "aim" is, then it would be less of an issue, but I had far too many times where an enemy was walking alongside the beam and I just had to watch them come eat me. :(
Overall though, it's a great great entry. The only thing to "fix" would be the mouse control, and that's a stunning thing for a game jam game!
Thanks for the fun. =)
This game is realllllly neat as a concept. The graphics are cute and clean, the gameplay itself is smooth. The manual input machine is incredibly confusing for a game that already has you moving so fast every 10 seconds.
I lost several times to trying to figure out how to get a recipe.
That aspect is a dealbreaker in a full game, BUT - this is a game jam. Lack of balance in terms of difficulty is to be expected.
I'm sure with time balance would come and this would be a killer game of panicked packaging.
Thanks for the fun. :D
That was lots of fun! The sound balance was a bit loud to start for me because I loaded into a scream haha. The 10 second factor was clever.
The little zoomy things were a bit of a surprise and I'm still on the fence on if I liked em or not.
I could see this expanding into a bigger game though, well done. =)
I loved this so much! My only sadness was how quiet everything was. Some bops coulda made this *perfect*.
That being said, it's a game jam and what you did was stunningly amazing already sooooo.... Thank you for the fun gameplay! :D
[I especially loved the aesthetic that matches old games that I played long ago.]
The music was GORGEOUS. The visuals made a beautiful accompaniment. I am thoroughly impressed.
I don't know what else to say, I don't really have a criticism other than it took me a bit of time to realize that I had to stop focusing on visual timing and instead listen... and I think that's an issue with web exporting - not your end.
I really liked this game, thank you so much.
Would play more if there was more.
This was a beautiful story and I loved how the theme was handled. I'm absolutely in awe. My only issue at all was that the thingy like wordle was so long that it was hard to think in 10 second gaps. I think that may have been part of the point though so it was uncomfortable, but served a purpose.
I have no real critiques for this one. Well done.
I wish them a happy life. ;-;
I love this game. As in if this got expanded to have a story element to it I would be wishlisting it on Steam, 100%.
The atmosphere was perfect, the lack of horrific monsters in the horror element allowed for the quiet storm feeling instead of the oh my god why did I play this feeling.
I don't really have any feedback to give to improve, to be honest. I just want more.
Please let me know if you do develop this game further.
Took me a moment to realize that I had to walk on the black path, with the external area being black I assumed black=pit of death.
After that, it was a lot of fun!
I loved the sprites, though there were times where I wasn't paying enough attention and didn't realize that my character was going to go the wrong way. I had to learn to "point with the hat".
Overall though, a stellar entry for the game jam! The mechanisms felt really clean which is hard to do in a "simpler" style like this so kudos for that. :D
Took me awhile to catch on to what was happening. It also felt like I have no control over whether or not I could give resources to the dome.
That being said, I had fun. It was cute. It was fun. I enjoyed.
Thank you. :D
@geronimo I kept trying that but it didn't always work for some reason. Maybe something was wrong with my load. What I found was that if I was harvesting a plant in front of the dome, resources would usually donate.. but up without the plant was useless?
...I'm also notorious for finding the weirdest bugs so.. my bad. ^^;; It was fun though! I'm happy that I played. :D
I kept dying on/before level 9 and eventually had to quit because the game was giving me a headache and nausea. I know it was mentioned by somebody else but I'm just gonna quickly echo - that camera jump is really intense. It can really mess up the day of people with various health issues. (No worries on my end though - I'll be fine within 3 minutes =) )
Other than that it seemed fine. When I first fell off the edge I was SHOCKED, and then it was like oh so that's how we're playing... and I was hooked. I loved how it kinda looked like Chip's Challenge. And I also love slimes.
All around this is a great entry, accessibility issues aside. =)
That was fun. It was INTENSE. I was grumpy that there weren't any checkpoints after a few deaths cause I kept dying at the exact same spot and then I had to start all over again.... and then started dying in earlier spots cause of my frustration. BUT. I am terribad at platformers. I normally hate them. I actually had fun on this one.
The visuals were great, I loved how everything was closed in. The sounds were perfect. Everything felt rushed, chaotic, and just perfect.
Incredibly well done. If this game were to be further developed/made longer I would definitely say that there needs to be an easy mode that puts checkpoints in for us bad at platformer types. xD
Thanks for the fun. :D
That was a fun game! I never saw the water coming which reduced the sense of urgency but that worked fairly well for me as figuring out where to go was enough to keep me going.
The shifting environment was great too - it's hard to build an involved environment in the time span of a game jam so very very very well done. :D
I'm impressed by the depth this game has.
My one issue is that sometimes the placement of the towers wasn't working properly. Not sure why but sometimes I had to click A LOT before the tower would deign to acknowledge my wishes and sit where I asked it to sit.
Other than that bug, there were no issues. Which, kudos for managing that in a game jam. I sit in awe.
Thanks for the fun! I was totally absorbed for a few minutes.
I played on Opera - Windows Lenovo Legion (laptop). Hope that helps in bug finding. :D
I loathe platformers in their entirety, and I was laughing in this one. That's a first. Well done. I think I held my breath for those ten seconds every time after level 2. x.x
The graphics were adorable, the layout was incredibly challenging for me but still fun.
I greatly appreciate the generous take on death that was taken here because I wouldn't have gotten far at all without that consideration. I probably didn't get as far as I should have either, but it is late where I am and I need to go to bed. =( I can't believe I'm saying that I wish I could stay up to play a platformer more, yet here we are. You did this.
I don't really have any suggestions to improve the game though, unfortunately. I guess if I was pushed maybe more variance in the music? I suppose? ...Maybe? It's not really necessary. This was ridiculously well done. Be proud of yourselves, please.
Very well done!
I had a critique early on, but forgot it by the end so I'm guessing that your game resolved it. This means that I don't really have any feedback on things that I think you could do better for in the next jam. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. My computer did heat up a bit much for the game, but I'm guessing that's just an optimization issue that would be resolved if you had more time. =)
Thank you for the great fun!
I have complimented other games for their amazing atmosphere. I now need to recalibrate my understanding of what amazing atmosphere is.
Wow.
That was a whole different level.
It felt more like an experience than a game. And I'm not upset by it.
Thanks for the dystopian experience!
The graphics are cute. The music is wonderful.
Getting visually cut off by the walls was terrifying. And I couldn't get the hang of it. I just kept getting overwhelmed and nothing felt intuitive.
I see you said time constraints happened - the curse of the game jam! :scream:
I think this game could really come into its own given enough time, it has such promise!
Great work in such a short time period. =)
I really loved the concept of this game. The atmosphere was great. The text read a tad bit too slow and my ADHD is acting up today so it was hard to stay focused, but I did! And then the gameplay seemed REALLY neat, but ultimately kinda empty after awhile.
I think I won, but it didn't feel like a win because I ended up just sitting in one spot to get a death scenario.
If this gets expanded on I definitely feel like something other than wasd would be nice during the "gameplay" portion.
Overall though, making complex mechanics in game jams is near impossible because of the short time you have so very very well done. =)
